(i haven't read Whole Cake in a while, and i never really watched it, so bear with me)
I'd love to write a fic with Usopp on Whole Cake. it'd be sooo fucking long and i'd need to refresh myself on the entire arc, but god i'd probably be so satisfied when it's done. specifically for having brought a single moment in my head to life, but we'll get to that.
On Zou, he insists to be taken along on the Sanji rescue team and has worked himself up with a whole bunch of very good reasons as to why he should go there instead of helping in Wano, but of course Luffy just immediately accepts with a "yeah sure"
With Whole Cake, I think he'd be flipping between having fun as part of the idiot trio/quartet (Luffy, Chopper, Carrot), and being terrified with Nami. There wouldn't be that many differences in the arc as a whole, though; some things would be easier/better and some things would be worse- I don't necessarily think Usopp's presence would be overall an advantage or disadvantage, just different. Like, major events would stay mostly the same, but little details would change and maybe those little details would build to a far more drastic change-
for example, maybe one of Big Mom's kids considers themself a great sniper and wants a match with Usopp, or is motivated to work harder because Usopp is around and they want to take him out and boast about it. Maybe it means Sunny takes more damage than canon, or maybe Usopp's help means less damage to Sunny. (idk if i'd really do smth like this, but it's just an example)
skjdhf fuck i'm really not equipped to try and figure this out when i don't remember shit from Whole Cake aaaa
I do know that, despite his penchant for talking and rambling, I'd probably have Usopp be dead silent after his initial shock when Sanji fights Luffy. Everything about that is the same, except Usopp is just watching Sanji the whole time- not panicking, not moving, and not speaking. He doesn't say a word the entire time, doesn't even make a sound, and that, along with Luffy's words and Nami's begging, stick with Sanji.
(Usopp is thinking of his own fight with Luffy in Water 7, he's partially wondering if this was what it was like- if it was this painful to watch from the sidelines- and partially knowing he doesn't have to say a word, because he knew, like he knew back then, that it didn't matter what was said. It wasn't quite the same, but he could tell in the way Sanji moved, in the way he spoke and held himself, that he was putting on a front, trying to be brave in all the wrong ways. Usopp didn't say a word to Sanji because there was nothing he could say that Sanji himself didn't already know. Should've known. And his quiet, direct stare, was more than enough.)
the singular moment i really wanna write, is a scene where Sanji is apologizing for dragging them into his mess- either during the big meeting in Bege's castle or some other time- and Usopp's like "I'll do what you can't, you do what I can't, right?" and Sanji pauses, a little confused, until he remembers Enies Lobby and a stupid mask and cape and-
and tears are gathering in his eyes now, fuck, but he laughs a little. It sounds wet and his face is itchy and they're surrounded by tentative allies, but he- he laughs again and he says, "Fuck, you remembered that?"
Usopp shrugs, a little smile on his face. "They were some wise words from a wise man."
Sanji laughs a third time. "You think I'm wise?"
And they banter a little more before Bege tells them to quit it since they're on a time constraint or something. Quietly, Usopp will ask, "It-it helps. On bad days. And I figured, 'what's a worse day than this?' Ah, not that you getting married would ever be bad per se-"
"Usopp," Sanji says, looking more relaxed and settled. He smiles fondly and grabs his friend in a one armed hug, crushing him to his side. "Thanks."
And yeah, don't remember much beyond that, except the whole "hiding and then busting out of the cake" bit, which would mean Usopp in a cute little tuxedo or smth- maybe with a fedora aaaaaa <- loves fedoras- helping out with the fighting and eventually sailing with everyone to Wano.
He would be so distressed about fixing up Sunny now that the whole thing with Whole Cake is over. Maybe there'd be a gag about him promising Franky to take good care of Sunny while they were gone and being confident, after being Franky's tinkering partner and learning from him over time, that he could handle minor repair work much better than he did the first time around with Merry. And so when he finally takes in all the very-not-minor repairs he has to do, he's certain Franky is gonna strangle him for not keeping his promise. Probably also try to write in some nostalgic 'repairman Usopp' vibes from pre-Water 7.
Also something something, Sanji, wanting to do more for the crew bc he still feels guilty about Whole Cake, decides to take it upon himself to help Usopp not fall into a whole anxiety spiral about the ship. In turn, Usopp ends up helping Sanji not feel so guilty- usually by handing his own words back to him on a silver platter. And, yknow, having the two of them bonding and being buddies again like they so rarely get to be in canon nowadays qwq
#one piece#usopp#whole cake island#nemotime#that bit in bege's castle isn't exactly how it would go. just kinda. trying to get the vibe. also it's wayyy too short lol#the sanuso bit can be platonic or romantic. originally when i was gonna write out this idea a while ago i was thinking romantic with my#'they get engaged/married b4 dressrosa' au but tbh platonic works just as good#im- these guys man. i hate them so much (affectionate)#i'll get to rereading whole cake and finding a way to put him in there but for now. this.#if anyone's got other ideas im all ears#edit from like march 7: thinking about this again#maybe usopp being silent is an indicator for sanji that usopp's really fucking disappointed or shocked or w/e#but for usopp himself it's like being back in water 7. he doesn't even mean to be silent. he's got words built up on the tip of his tongue#but none of them come out. and despite sanji being Right There all he wants to do in that moment. is run.#at the very least he stays and watches the whole confrontation through. but afterwards he probably feels like shit#because he's the guy who's great with words right? he's the guy that can relate the most out of the group who went to WCI. he should be abl#to make a significant difference and help convince sanji to come home. but he feels like he failed. like he's going to lose another friend#and it's going to be all his fault. (again)#[not really. we all know merry wasn't his fault but we love old insecurities rearing their head in this house]#later he'd probably end up saying the words he wanted to say. and maybe it's better that way. that he ended up waiting#until luffy's had a proper shot at scolding sanji first. because then usopp can act as support and reinforcement. which. yknow.#a sniper's duty and all#anyway i got other shit to do so i'm cutting myself off here#wci usopp

I wanted to write out the character dynamics between Lucky and the Straw Hats because I have fallen deep into the Little Lucky AU. At first it was just gonna be a series of one shots with little to no plot for funsies but now I’ve gone and fleshed it out into its own fully developed AU and I feel compelled to share my thoughts on it.
Since I have this happening right after Arlong Park, I realized that at most, they’ve known her for like a week and some change with Sanji only knowing her for a couple of days. I think that this would make adjusting to her becoming a child much easier because ultimately, none of them really knew her. Hell, with her amnesia Lucky barely knew herself.
It would take about a week for everyone to accept that this is how it is now. The devil fruit user tried to warn them that the effects were permanent (meaning that she’s not going to suddenly switch back, not that she’s permanently 4 she is still going to age normally), but they thought this person was bluffing in order to get mercy or something. As time passes and Lucky is showing no signs of turning back, everyone begins to feel some regret about punting the user into the sea, but now it’s too late.
In Lucky Break, she doesn’t come clean about the truth of where she came from until after Enel is defeated in Skypeia, but in this AU she would tell them the truth during the Alabasta arc. After Drum Island when Nami is recovered because she felt bad for keeping it a secret when Nami was sick.
Luffy’s relationship with Lucky has by far been my favorite to develop, I find it super interesting. Despite not knowing the adult Lucky for very long, Luffy’s emotional intelligence being sky high helped him to understand her better than she probably even understood herself. There was something off about her, and he knew it within their first conversation. The way she had a tendency to shrink in on herself and physically close herself off, and the fact that her smile never once reaches her eyes told him a lot. He doesn’t know where she came from or what it’s like, but he can’t imagine it’s all that great if this is how she acts. He still wants to go there, but now it’s because he needs to throw hands with whoever made her that way. After she’s turned into a child, he immediately notices that she now has that spark that was missing from her eyes before, and he’s bound and determined to fan that spark into a flame so that he doesn’t see that same look when she becomes an adult again.
Having a small child on board does ever so slightly mature him. At first he’s like “Oh there’s a little kid here now? Fun!” but then it evolves into “Hang on I’m responsible for her”. He realizes that this little kid is going to depend on him for everything. Sure, he has his other crewmates to help, but as captain he feels the weight on his shoulder more.
After the Enel situation happens he becomes more noticeably mature and goes out of his way to hover around her more and make her happy. He’s more prone to involving himself in the actual childcare aspects of her life instead of just being ‘the fun best friend’ to her. He sits in on her appointments with Chopper and helps as much as Chopper will allow, both because he wants to help and also as a way for him to see what she had to go through in the moment that he wasn’t there to protect her. He also tries to give advice, mostly about following her dreams and understanding how valuable the freedom to do so is. He’s still her best friend at the end of the day, but there is an air of seriousness to it now.
Lucky idolizes Luffy intensely, he is her Shanks pretty much. Between him being her best friend and saving her, she wants to be just like him when she grows up. He’s the best person ever in her book and she will fight anyone who tries to trash talk him (much to the horror of everyone else who is rushing to stop her).
Zoro naively thought he would be escaping Lucky fussing over him now that she’s a little kid, but he was very wrong. She’s still trailing behind and yelling at him to sit down so she can “make it better”, but now she’s just got a box of colorful kid band-aids instead of actual bandages. Zoro is covered in a rainbow of band-aids at any given moment and he can’t even take them off because she’ll put more on there while scolding him.
There’s a post where I talk about their interactions a little bit here. With the part about sword fighting, he is very serious about it, but if you look closely you can see small smiles here and there as she makes more progress. He is very proud. He wishes Kuina could have met her, he thinks she would have liked Lucky. Tries to shield her from the idea that she will only be able to go so far because of being a woman, he doesn’t want that stupid mentality weighing her down.
If someone asks him what his relationship to her is, he would state that he’s her teacher. If you asked Lucky, she would say he’s her big brother. Zoro feels like he’s going into cardiac arrest but keeps a straight face and says “that’s fine too”. Lucky looks up to him too, but she also lowkey likes to bully him in true sibling fashion. Like telling him to put his boobs away, running off with his sake, pulling pranks on him when he’s trying to nap, that kind of stuff.
Right after Arlong Park, Nami was feeling very attached to Lucky (tbh she’s the first to start showing yandere tendencies in Lucky Break), so she was honestly a little disappointed at first when they realized Lucky wasn’t turning back into an adult. She would never admit this out loud, but she did feel that way. She snaps out of it pretty quick though and declares herself ‘big sister Nami’. She gets very into it, and likes being the big sister for a change.
As far as she’s concerned, she’s the only responsible adult on board (until Robin comes in). As such, she’s constantly trying to keep Lucky attached to her hip because she’s worried that the others are going to hurt her by doing something stupid. This doesn’t work all that well because there are other people on the ship that are more fun and goofy than she is, so Nami spends most of her day running after Lucky. Lucky is the only person that she doesn’t have a tab for. She’s a little kid, and as adults, it’s everyone’s job on board to take care of her and that includes buying her stuff like clothes/toys/etc. Nami does teach her the value of money and how to be responsible with it for when she’s old enough to have some money of her own, but Lucky isn’t indebted to her or anything.
Lucky finds it a little odd at first when some woman she barely knows insists that she’s her big sister, but she goes with it. Nami can be a little bit of a stick in the mud, but Lucky knows that she can go to her when she needs help. Since they sleep in the same room (sometimes at least, there are lots of sleepovers in the guys’ room), Nami is usually the person she goes to when she has a nightmare.
Usopp is great with kids, and that includes Lucky. He found adult Lucky a little intimidating (for reasons we will get to soon enough), so he honestly gets along with child Lucky more. He loves having a gullible little kid around that he can tell his tall tales to, given that she’s too young to be able to immediately call bullshit. However, he doesn’t anticipate how many questions she’s going to ask about the story. He wasn’t ready for the constant flow of why’s, how come’s, and what’s that’s that get thrown his way. On the bright side, his improvisational skills skyrocket from this.
His job in regards to Lucky is to grab her in a dangerous situation and run away as fast as he can, a role he chose for himself. He does fall victim to being roasted by a tot over this because she will call him a big baby for screaming and crying (lessens post Enel). As a sniper, he is supposed to be further from the battle than others, so he typically is the best choice for her to be with. Like Zoro, he wants to teach her how to use his own weapon of choice and even makes her a tiny slingshot. This backfires because now she’s terrorizing him and Zoro with it (and also takes cracks at marines sometimes).
Usopp is her friend. He doesn’t have the title of best friend or big brother which hurts a bit, but he learns to cope. Lucky does spend a lot of time with him since she thinks he’s funny and fun to play with. He only helped her prank Zoro once because she immediately played innocent and threw him under the bus. That being said, only she can bully him, Franky better sleep with one eye open for beating him up!
Sanji is her dad now, and no one can rob him of that, he will kill for this title. He held off for a week tops after she was turned to make sure that she wasn’t just going to go back to normal, but after that he took a page out of Zeff’s book and adopted her. He wants to go back to the Baratie long enough to let Zeff know he’s a grandpa, but for now will have to wait. He’s always trying to get her to call him “papa” to varying levels of success. She doesn’t cooperate at first because she really doesn’t know him, but she’ll warm up eventually and start calling him that. Though she does sometimes switch back to using Sanji just to mess with him.
Lucky is his entire world basically. You thought he was obsessed with women? That pales in comparison to his devotion to his little princess! His wallet has more pictures of her in it than it has actual money. What money isn’t spent on getting food gets spent on her. If she looks at something for too long, she’s getting it. Nami gets on him frequently about spoiling her too much, even though he says there’s no such thing. Ironically, he has better luck with women now because he’s more toned down around them and it’s just cute to see a doting dad, but he is completely oblivious to it. He genuinely believes that the women are only approaching him because they think Lucky is cute and doesn’t even pick up on them flirting with him because he’s too busy showing off the pictures in his wallet. Nami thinks this is hysterical and won’t point it out.
He wants to cook with her so much, he’s always trying to involve her in the kitchen (with age appropriate things of course). There are limits to what she can safely do, but he’s happy just to have her in the kitchen as a taste tester if that’s all she can do. She doesn’t need to become a chef or anything, but he wants her to know the basics at the very least. If she wants to have a tea party, he’ll get her to help make the little treats to go with it and show her how to perfectly steep the tea. No imaginary tea parties on his watch. The one thing he’s strict on is her eating habits, she needs to stay healthy and that’s not up for debate. If she just genuinely doesn’t like something, that’s understandable, but she can’t just feed Luffy under the table to get dessert faster.
Lucky’s actual father was very emotionally and physically distant, so it takes very little time for her to latch onto Sanji as her new dad. When she does, she basically becomes a daddy’s girl overnight. Sanji gets pulled into playtime whenever he isn’t in the kitchen, whether it be including him in the tea parties, “styling” his hair with dozens of colorful barrettes, or simply making him get in on the games she was playing with the others. With how god awful his childhood was, it’s honestly a little healing for him. He’s happy that he can give someone else the childhood he didn’t get to have.
Chopper doesn’t get to be the baby of the crew anymore. Lucky would probably be the first to be able to really get close to him on Drum Island, because even Chopper isn’t going to be scared of a four year old. Wary, but not scared. However, after seeing that she isn’t afraid of him and is genuinely trying to befriend him, he comes around. It’s shocking to him to learn that she’s part of a pirate crew, but also inspiring. If someone so young can do it, he can too! They’re fast friends and become thick as thieves.
Lucky thinks all of his doctor stuff is super interesting and likes to watch when he’s making medicine. She asks lots of questions and also gives out compliments easily. Chopper even shows her how to do some very basic first aid since that’s a good thing to know in emergencies. He also goes over what plants are poisonous and to not eat anything she doesn’t know for a fact is safe. Besides the medical stuff, Lucky enjoys hanging out with him lots because she thinks he’s around her age (and does not believe him when he insists that he’s 15).
Lucky keeps referring to him as her little brother and it’s driving him insane. No amount of “I told you I’m 15!” will stop her. She thinks he’s lying because they’re both the same height give or take so obviously that means they must be the same age. He can’t even grow into a bigger form because she’ll just say that it doesn’t count since it’s not permanent. Like Luffy, being responsible for the safety of a child does make Chopper slightly more mature. Don’t get me wrong, he will still run away if Lucky is already safe, but if she isn’t then he will square up. Maybe if she sees him protect her, she’ll start calling him big brother! She doesn’t.
Robin feels so conflicted when they first meet. It’s one thing to be taking on grown adults that knew what they were getting into by taking on Baroque Works, it’s another to see a small child being dragged into by association. She intentionally leaves Lucky out of reports to Crocodile. She keeps hoping that Lucky will be dropped off somewhere else and be off the radar, and feels sicker and sicker as they keep getting closer to Alabasta. She’s just a little kid and doesn’t deserve to be dragged into something like this.
After joining the Straw Hats, she finds herself drawn to Lucky, and even uses her name. She does some mental gymnastics to justify this by telling herself that technically it’s a nickname so she’s in the clear. She’s totally not getting attached, she tells herself as she tucks Lucky into bed and reads her a bedtime story. It doesn’t help that Lucky follows her around like a duckling because she finds her very mysterious and cool. Having Lucky think that her devil fruit and all her knowledge is awesome really warms her heart.
It takes a while for her to be called it (post Enies Lobby), but she becomes the mom of the group. Unlike with Sanji, Lucky came to call her this entirely on her own. Robin needs a minute after she gets called that for the first time. That being said, she fills the role well. She’s got that calm and caring vibe to her, while also being a total mama bear. If anyone looks at Lucky the wrong way, she’s eliminating the threat on the spot. Her baby is not about to be punished for existing with what the government deems to be “bad people”. She’s harsh towards anyone she sees as a threat, but especially with marines/government agents.
Franky is definitely surprised to see a little kid with the Straw Hats, but it also earns some respect from him. He appreciates seeing pirates that don’t just abandon their children, thank you very much. Franky has an energy to him that kids love, and Lucky isn’t immune to it. Granted, at first she just wants to fight him and he can expect to be pelted with pebbles from her slingshot until she’s forgiven him for the Usopp incident. He doesn’t take this personally. In fact, he encourages it. Hell yeah kid! You stick up for your friends! Show me who’s boss! His attitude makes it very hard for her to stay mad for long, especially with Usopp telling her that it’s okay they already made up.
His goofball personality and eccentric behavior make him a lot of fun to be around. On top of that, Lucky likes to sometimes watch him work. He’s very quick to engage her in it, too. He’ll explain what he’s doing and why in great detail, and is happy to answer any questions she has. He’ll even let her hold a flashlight for him even though he has his own built in. Very supportive if she wants to learn more from him, but won’t push it either.
After Lucky comes around on him, she calls him uncle Franky. He’s just got those fun uncle vibes to her. He truly loves the title and is proud of it. He gets a bit cocky and asks if he’s her favorite uncle only to get humbled by her saying no with zero hesitation. Sorry, Franky, you’re no competition for uncle Ace. Despite the devastating blow to his ego, he is a very fun uncle and is insanely protective.

TW/Warnings: none, pure fluff
Word Count: 1090
While Sanji would never say it out loud, one of the reasons that he was happy to join Luffy’s crew wasn’t just to find the ‘All Blue’. It was also for his other dream, to find his soulmate. Sure, he fawned over every woman he saw; sure, he got nosebleeds over every beautiful woman he came across, but what he really wanted, more than a beautiful woman, was his soulmate. Somebody who was supposed to be made for him. So he made sure to speak to every gorgeous woman, hoping that one of them might be ‘the one’. Looking into the mirror, Sanji focused on his left eye, it was the color of his soulmate’s eye, something he desperately wished to see on the latest island they were docking at. Taking a deep breath, Sanji headed out onto the deck, his usual smile on his face as he looked out at the bright blue waters to the left of the ship and a wooden dock to the right. The blond was off the ship and headed for the market like always, most of the others joining him in restocking various necessities. Despite looking for fresh and rare ingredients, the other thing he kept an eye out for was anyone with the same heterochromatic eyes that he had, making sure to at least greet anyone who looked like they might be close.
A small sigh left Sanji’s lips as he headed back for the ship, today had been a bit of a bust. He’d found great ingredients that he was happy with, but he hadn’t found what he was really searching for. Looking at a small cafe, Sanji paused, maybe a cup of coffee would help after he dropped things off. Glancing into the cafe, the blond paused, one blue eye and one… maybe? Could he really risk her being gone by the time he returned? Thankfully a familiar voice caught his attention, and better yet, it wasn’t the marimo.
“Franky! I need you to take these groceries back to the ship for me.” Sanji said, holding out the bags, a pleading look in his mismatched eyes. The large cyborg looked at him for a moment before taking the bags.
“Whatever your reason, it must be super if you’re asking me to do it for you.” Franky said with a smile before walking off. Sanji smiled, he’d have to thank the blue haired man later, right now, the girl in the cafe mattered more. Taking a deep breath, Sanji entered the cafe, walking up to the counter and giving the young woman a large smile.
“A beautiful woman-” Sanji was cut off by a tingling sensation in his left eye, causing him to blink a few times as he shook his head before looking back up.
You stared at the blond in front of you in shock, what had once been two different colored eyes were two beautiful, bright blue eyes and you were sure yours had done something similar if the strange feeling in your own left eye was anything to go by.
“I… I’m Sanji.” the blond, Sanji, said, introducing himself as you both just stood there.
“I uh, Y/n.” you replied, time seeming to stop around you. Thankfully, your boss let you take the rest of the day off, realizing the importance of what was going on, smiling as she shooed you away.
The two of you stood on a small cliff looking out at the ocean, simply taking in the fact that you’d found each other.
“Y-you know, I dreamt about this moment.” Sanji muttered, hands tucked nervously in his pocket. Hundreds of girls, hours of flirting, yet he found himself nervous simply standing beside you.
“And? Is it… is the reality of it everything you hoped for?” you asked hesitantly, glancing over at him, your hands fidgeting with each other. He slowly reached out to caress your cheek, he’d never felt like this, the butterflies, his heart pounding, his mind spinning. You tilted your head into his hand, enjoying the feeling of his skin against yours. The blond couldn’t help himself as he wrapped his other arm around you, pulling you close before pressing his lips against yours. The two of you stayed like that for a moment, two, finally pulling apart when you needed air.
“Reality is even better than my dreams.” Sanji breathed, still holding you close, your hands resting against his chest. Looking at him, you couldn’t help but bite your lip, it was obvious that he was sailing the Grandline and while you didn’t know if he was a pirate, a merchant, a marine, or just an explorer, you did know that you wanted to go with him.
“Sanji, I… can I come with you? I don’t know where you’re going, but I… I want to be beside you, wherever it is you’re headed.” you said hesitantly, staring up into his beautiful eyes, the eyes that you, yourself, had dreamt of seeing.
“Are you sure? I’m a pirate, Y/n, that means you’d be a pirate too. My captain gets us into a lot of danger, I don’t want to put you in the middle of that.” Sanji said worriedly. You were his soulmate, how could he risk putting you in harm's way.
“If it means staying by your side, then I’ll be a sailor, a pirate, heck, I’ll find a way to become a warlord of the sea if it means staying with you.” you confessed, reaching up and cupping his cheeks in your hands, smiling when he nuzzled his cheek into one of them.
“We just met, we hardly know each other.” he argued. It was true, you didn’t really know each other, but you could already tell everything you needed to know. He was kind, sweet, protective, loving, and he was your soulmate. You were supposed to be made for each other.
“Please. I want to be by your side, I know we don’t really know each other, but I know enough to know that I don’t want to be without you.” you pleaded. Sanji could feel his resolve breaking. He wanted that too, he wanted you more than he’d ever wanted anything, even more than he wanted to find the All Blue.
“Alright, let’s go ask my captain.” Sanji said, taking your hand and leading you towards the Thousand Sunny. In truth, he wasn’t sure if he could have left you behind, you were his beloved soulmate and he never wanted to leave your side.

The monster trio Destroying their s/o Nest !
{The idea of the trio destroying their omega's nest was really funny to begin with}
Warning: None, well there is slightly little bit if bad language
Monkey D.Luffy 🍖🍖🍖
🍖Luffy didn't know what happened
🍖One minute he was care freely running around than the next he tripped landing on a pile of clothes blankets and stuff animals .ect
🍖In all honesty he didn't think much of it, I mean it just clothes...
🍖But No!
🍖This dumb meat brain picks it up stuffing the items into whatever drawer or closet he could find, thinking he did a good "clean up" duty.
🍖And just runs off to continue playing with Usopp and Chopper.
🍖Later on when you return with Sanji from the local market that the Sunny is currently dock at.
🍖"Thanks for the help, (Y/n)." Sanji said as he and placed down the groceries in the kitchen.
🍖"No prop." You smiled leaving the cook to his work, the blond gleefully started cooking for dinner knowing he has a lot to do.
🍖With Luffy on the crew he won't just be feeding one person more like an army in fact.
🍖(Y/n) left as they walked back on deck feeling the warm air and relaxing atmosphere around them it was all quite but all good things must come to an end.
🍖"Hey, (Y/n) check out this beetle it's as big as my hand look look!" (Y/n) turned seeing their captain, (Y/n)'s alpha their bonded mate.
🍖Luffy happily ran to his omega wanting to show them the bug which they flinch at, (Y/n) despised insects just as much as Nami and Sanji does so naturally they back up a little away from their lovingly childish alpha
🍖"No thanks Luffy but I'm going to take a nap."
🍖"Yeah! Than I'll take one with you." Luffy jumped around excited to spend time with his s/o.
🍖Placing the bug down rush after his omega following them down to a specific room below deck.
🍖When (Y/n) open the door they seemed a little confused thinking they must have walked into the wrong room.
🍖No this is the right room
🍖What happened ? It's all gone!!!
🍖An omega's Nest usually a place where an omega can be comfortable, whether if they are in heat or just having a bad day.
🍖But where's (Y/n) nest?
🍖"Luffy where i-is my n-nest?" (Y/n) questioned pointing at the empty room infront of them tears building up into their eyes body trembling as they point to the "missing nest" looking over their shoulder at Luffy who seemed confused.
🍖The alpha could scent that their omega is in distress and anger.
🍖"Nest? Huh?... All that was in there was a blankets and pillows what nest?"
🍖"Luffy what happened to my nest?" At this point Luffy's s/o was in full blown tears sobbing and whimpering.
🍖"(Y/n) I don't know what you're saying? All I did was clean up you know being grown up like you said." Luffy laughed being clueless like always.
🍖"Luffy you idiot!" (Y/n) yelled slamming the door in Luffy's face.
🍖Don't worry he didn't stay clueless forever, Nami saw the he thing go down.
🍖Gave him a hell of a beating.
🍖Afterwards explains to him what he did wrong in the most simplest way possible to screw it through his thick head.
🍖(Y/n) with a tears stain face and a sad look quietly took out blankets and pillows where every they could find some scenting a few stuff animals, working on repairing thier nest little whimpers leaving thier lips everytime the fortress flops apart.
🍖Soft knocks traveled from the door catching (Y/n) attention.
🍖"hey~" Luffy's head peaks through a purr leaving his mouth as he tries to lighten the situation and calming his omega.
🍖"What?" (Y/n) says wanting to sound mean but it came off more of a sob.
🍖"Sorry. My omega." Luffy placed his strawhat onto (Y/n) head it was filled with his scent calming down the sad omega, the hat (Y/n) wore many times before Luffy wouldn't easily let others wear it, other than those who he trusts with all his heart.
🍖"I'll help you." Luffy sat down on his knees next to (Y/n) taking up a few pillows into his arrms
🍖"Thank, you Alpha." (Y/n) wrapped their arms around Luffy's neck taking in a long breath of his scent.
🍖"Can, can you also scent a few things, please."
🍖"Yeah!"😃
🍖"And I'll start with you!"😚
🍖"W-what?!"😳
Roronoa Zoro ⚔⚔⚔
⚔Yes Zoro knows what nesting is
⚔The only way he knew was when his s/o direactly came up to him and told him.
⚔He didn't mind he secretly thought it was cute, rare to see such a adorable omega, his omega crawled into their nest looking all comfy and happy.
⚔But over time he started missing clothes, he just shrugged it off, not really caring cause he knows you have been sneaking some of his stuff into your nest.
⚔Like every omega they want their alpha's scent near them for comfort emotional times or during heat.
⚔He couldn't care less
⚔but he'd still scent anything you ask, he would even do it when you don't ask.
⚔But there's one thing (Y/n) wanted more than any piece of Zoro's clothes in their nest
⚔Zoro's haramaki.
⚔It was hard for them too just go up and ask him for it, he'd say no cause he usually carrying his swords with it.
⚔So all they could do was steal it when the marimo was in the shower.
⚔It was successful!
⚔The green haired swordsman, Alpha didn't noticed it was missing till he tried placing his swords in thier place but instead dropped to the ground though to the missing Haramaki that was not around his hips.
⚔At first he thought he must have misplaced it.
⚔He even ended up looking in the laundry room but no luck.
⚔Until his omega that means the whole world to him came to his mind, you must have seen it right?
⚔At first you denied it, "No. I haven't? Last I saw it you were wearing it." (Y/n) try their best to keep Zoro's off their tail and laying to your alpha feels like your betraying them.
⚔Somehow he ended up looking in your nest, he felt bad about invading your privacy but he has to have his Haramaki back he just gotta.
⚔But it was also weird that (Y/n) stop asking for stuff to be scent or being scented themselves.
⚔Zoro dig through the tent like nest pulling out blankets and throwing pillows out.
⚔Found It! His precious Haramaki.
⚔"Why would (Y/n) lay?" Zoro mumble to himself putting the Piece of clothes back on.
⚔"No! Stop destroying my nest!" A voice yelled at the alpha from behind as he was tackled to the ground.
⚔"Why did you had to find it this soon, I was going to give it back later." (Y/n) pouted giving Zoro puppy eyes tugging at the material around his hips.
⚔"So you took it, you know it's not good lay to you alpha, little omega~" Zoro smirked in quick movement pinning his omega down beneath him sitting in between their legs.
⚔"Bad Boy/Girl~ but why my Haramaki?" Zoro purred sending shivers down your spine the omega in you turned on by your dominant alpha, just hovering over you.
⚔"I wanted something... you use everyday."
⚔"mmmh~"
⚔"Well I'm going to have to punish you, I skipped too many training and napping sessions looking for this."
⚔"Wait, alpha-" (Y/n) was shut up before they could finish as the alpha above took them right there and then...
⚔Next thing you took was his bandana😏
Sanji Vinsmoke 🚬🚬🚬
🚬Sanji loves your nest, his in there everytime when you allowed it made him feel so special. Because he is. He is your alpha mate duh. especially when you have your heat😏
🚬Butttttttt now his currently in a huge crisis.
🚬how did it happen... well...
🚬A while ago he finished making some delicious tropical drinks for the ladies and yours is made the best of the best.
🚬He made it exactly to your liking with every thought of you in mind, it made his alpha very pleasing to serve you.
🚬Despite what genders his omega is or how they met, he'd be on his hands and knees giving you all he has.
🚬He happily bouncing into the room where his omega's nest was built.
🚬"Look what daddy brought you my pup~" Sanji sang kneeling down to the nest opening the cover looking in the nest like tent.
🚬His smile dropped when his s/o was nowhere to be seen, thinking you must have left for the bathroom or something?
🚬"Oh well."
🚬Suddenly the ship rocked, a wave or one of Luffy's stupid doings.
🚬.... That was the least of his worries...
🚬The drink slipped from the tray spilling into (Y/n) nest!!!!
🚬😱!!!!!!!!!!!😱
🚬This was the end of him.
🚬That bring us to how he ended up in this situation to begin with.
🚬"No no no no no no !!!" Sanji panic pulling out the wet blankets and pillows with some of his shirts or pants.
🚬You just recently gave him free access at anytime to be in your nest, after this your not going to near your nest in his life time again
🚬He broke your trusts
🚬He shattered his nesting fantasies
🚬Its all down the drain
🚬is what he currently felt like while pulling all the wet stuff out.
🚬At some point the blanket he was pulling got stuck so he pulled harder bringing down the hole nest came crashing down.
🚬Now his fucked.
🚬Sinking to his weak knees as he tears drip from his eyes he got to an ugly sobbing, and his scent change to a gloomy disgusting scent one that he doubt you would want to be scented in.
🚬And worst of all fear of you declining a bond between the two of you.
🚬...
🚬(Y/n) opened the door immediately catching the sight of their alpha on the floor kneeling infront of the door his forehead though the floor boards.
🚬"Daddy, what happened?" You looked at your destroyed nest behind him and his scent made you hold you nose shutting it tightly for the first time, glance back down at the blonde, worried and confused.
🚬"Icameintogiveyoudrinkthanshipmovelostbalancedroppeddrinkonnesttridetockeanbutmadeitworstpleasedontleavemeilldoanything!!!!!!"
🚬"Huh?" (Y/n) titled their head to the side not getting anything he said, kneeling down on front of him, "Its okay, I can just fix the nest stop crying, is okay alpha." (Y/n) purred letting off a relaxing soft and sweet scent as he cooled him down his nerves stopped sky rocketing.
🚬Rubbing his back helped and your soft caring loving words lighten his atmosphere and his hopes.
🚬"Pup~"
🚬"Yes, daddy?~"
🚬"Sorry."
🚬"it's okay I'd never hate you for something that wasn't your fault, is fine your honest with me and tried to make it all better."
🚬"My pup~" Sanji yelled his mood completely turned squeezing the daylights out of his s/o
🚬"But you not allow in my nest for the next 2 weeks."
🚬*Sanji Instantly cried again*😭😭😭

How do you think the strawhat would be with a crewmate who has a cat (or like three) ?
I am so sorry this took so long to answer. I've had university deadlines.
Anyway
This is my personal take on the characters. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I had fun writing this. Thank you anon ❤️
Luffy would LOVE to have cats aboard!! Luffy would be giggling childishly after hearing the new crew mate has cats, unless that’s why he asked for them to join in the first place (no surprise there). Since it’s Luffy, and he’s oblivious as hell, he’ll probably do a couple things that would get them feisty, earning him a good cat fight. He’d end up looking like he does after Nami has a go at him. Luffy’s love will go on endlessly, as they’re not part of the StrawHat family. Before the cats can explore the ship, the idea of teaching the fur balls some “cool tricks” will come up, maybe even plotting to sneak some meat behind Sanji’s back. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t... probably not, knowing Luffy. He’s good company for them, a good partner to play with if he has a feather stick. You will find them resting on his belly as they both nap in the sun on Sunny's head. And without a doubt, ass will be kicked if a single whisker on their faces is touched out of malice.
For a brief second, Zoro will question the cats safety: traveling on water, but at the end of the day it’s not his problem… kinda. Despite his stiff “cool guy” exterior, the swords man would definitely jump in after any of the cuties that have gone over board. He will angrily mutter about their reckless climbing and playfulness as he rushes them out of the water. I mean he does the same for Luffy, so what’s new? He’d give them some small here and there, nothing too special. Their compatibility will really shine when they crawl all over the man during his meditation, they will have fun tapping at his gold earrings, and as much as he would like his silence, the cats company will make him smile. There’s no doubt about it, Zoro loves them, he just expresses his affection to his crew own way. They’re part of the family and their silly antics will make his night shifts a lot more entertaining.
Sanji will ban any cats from the kitchen right away, which is entirely understandable. Cats shed like crazy and don’t think about where their paws have been. They would knock over things carelessly, even on purpose at times when they want attention. That will irk Sanji. Should it ever happen, though, he’d take the opportunity to show off his cool moves in front of Robin and Nami. His envy would melt the man, seeing them curled up in the ladies laps too, but that’s just Sanji being himself. Since are respectable for the most part, and for this reason Sanji wouldn’t treat them any less than he would the rest of the crew. He’ll work hard on their meals, spoiling their little toe beans off.
Chopper will be the CUTEST with cats, he will be befriend them on an emotional level much faster than the others as he’s one himself. He’s in tune with them, and since he’s a doctor, he will be eager to pick up on veterinary studies to care for them. You will find him often studying their anatomy, even physically studying the little fur balls himself. He’d play with them lots, mostly with him originally chasing them, but knowing Chopper, they will turn that around. You’ll catch Chopper reading books with the cats crawling over him and covering his desk. An adorable sight to see.
Franky is definitely more a dog person, but he won’t reject the adorable purring of a cat. He’ll walk around with one or two of them perched on his shoulders, the height and the stability of Franky is a fun place to hang out. They see lots, and he’s a fun person. When not busy, Franky will take a moment to give out some pets, maybe even making some kissy noises at them. He’ll incorporate some kind of play pen or netted area so they can play safely. You’ll definitely catch him blubbering emotionally about them at some point. It’s Franky, after all, he’s a ginormous softie. When maintaining the ship, he’ll keep the cats locked away for their safety, all the heavy materials and tools could be dangerous, and the last thing he wants is them hurt while they get a little too curious. Let’s hope whenever they crawl over him, none of their claws have a scratch at his banana hammock.
100% Robin is a cat mom, calling it immediately. She’s elegant and has that cheekiness that cats posses too. She likes to soak up some sun, explore her surroundings to understand them better, and is intelligent with a talent in sneaking around. Robin confirmed to be a human-cat? All jokes aside, Robin’s companionship with the cats is calm, just like how many of them like it. They’d be spoiled with lap cuddles, and her devil fruit will make sure none of them are left feeling jealous. Her and Chopper will be often spotted hanging together, or helping the vet check ups.
For some reason, I have a hunch Brook is scared of cats and his hair would pop off seeing them. He’d jump behind one of the crew members, his bones rattling loudly as you hear his cheerful voice pronounce his fear. Luckily for him they’re not dogs, his femur would be gone in seconds if they were. He’d be nervous around the little things at first but with time he will open up to them. Seeing how the crew plays and cuddles with them will make him step out of his comfort zone, and next thing you know, they’re huddled around him as he plays the violin. Music, after all, is calming for cats. He will have his own furry fans to give him all of the love, which will warm his heart (if he had one).
Nami will think they’re super cute, but wouldn’t be quite as enthusiastic as some of the other crew members. That’s just Nami though. She’d definitely be cracking some skulls if you hurt any of them, and she’s a very protective cat mom. She might not be the super cuddly type, but she doesn’t care about them any less than the rest of the crew. She’d save a little bit of money on the side for some nicely made collars, which will be a BIG deal coming from her. They’d be gold plated, or something nice along the lines which is definitely her way of showing affection. No matter how cute they are, however, they won’t be caught in her cartography space - their paws are chaotic and Nami needs her maps to be pristine. As cute as inky paw prints are, she rather not have them.
Usopp will talk to the cats a lot, befriending them like they’re any other person. Even though they can’t understand him or his exaggerated stories, they’re entertained by him no matter what. He’s enrapturing, able to hold their gaze as they get lost in his enthusiastic tone. They sure feel playful around him too, his goofy behaviour is exactly what they need, but they might end up chasing him across the ship with how much a coward he can be at times. With his ingenious building skills, he’d take the time to make them some cool toys, a crazy laser, a feather toy, who knows what Usopp has up his sleeve. Oh, the ideas are endless and Usopp’s designs will be spoiling their tails off. If only Sniper King is able to see how adorable they are… *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*
As I’m not fully caught up and his character to me is still quite hard to write about, I will try to capture Jinbe to my best understanding of him.
I imagine him to find great companionship with cats, understanding their free will, but sense of loyalty they have. Unlike dogs, who are loyal to nearly anyone, a cats sense of loyalty is out of a devoted love they choose to share. Jinbe holds a similar integrity with the relationships he choose to be a part of. Naturally their natures of being are opposites, as he’s a fish man, strongest when in water, while cats run from it. They share a wholesome companionship. If it isn’t Zoro first in the water to save them, Jinbe will be the next to be a kitty rescuer.

Hello friend!! I have decided to ask something for my daddies favorite characters! If that's okay? I didn't see any rules or anything soooooo
I'mma just go on gut instinct
Maybe some fluffy cuddles with Lucci, Crocodile, Mihawk and Ace? (And anyone else you wanna throw in? Any daddies I missed) Oh and headcanons unless u wanna do scenario? Please and Thank you!!
Tumblr media
Hello! Thank you for the request! These scenarios will be in short story form to I hope your okay with! They’re are two extra character I added in there too! I hope you enjoy
Ace: It was early morning sailing along on a winter island. Snow was failing everywhere and it was very cold. Everyone would usually be wearing something warmer, well except Ace.
Ace was walking along the ship until see you noticing how cold you were.
“ are you okay (name)?” He ask being a bit concerned
You look down before looking back up “ Ace do you think we could cuddle since it’s very cold?” You ask the fire man.
Ace was quiet embarrassed that you asked, his face turned bright red not knowing what to say at first but he nods his head walking over to you. He kneels down beside you hugging you tightly in his arms feeling like a heater
“ Thank you ace” you mumble and start to close your eyes. The man was like a living heater and you could peacefully fall asleep in his embrace. Shortly after you did fall asleep to which he smiles
“ Your so cute (name)” he picks you up gently bringing you to your bed so they could cuddle more.
Lucci: it was early morning in enbies lobby but no one could tell due to how it was always sunny night and day and the stars never showed themselves.
You were doing your regular task along the ships feeling sad. You didnt particularly know why you felt that way but you did. You kept a smile on your face to which most people would assume that you were happy except for Lucci. He could sense how you felt at any given moment, have it be due to the Neko neko fruit or just pure instinct. He wouldn’t go right up and ask but he would follow you around a bit till you were both in a secluded area. The man walks up to you having a small hint of worry on his face.
“ Something the matter?” He ask looking down at you
“ I guess I can’t really hide it Huh” you look down at the ground “ Just feeling sad, I don’t know why” you think about it till it hits you “ Maybe because I miss seeing the stars and moon. We don’t get to see it here and it’s just something I miss” you sign before smiling “ But thats okay! I enjoy being here”
Lucci nods and gets an idea “ Meet me by the gate at 7 pm alright?” He waits for your confirmation
“ Of course lucci sir” you say even though you were genuinely confused
Through out the day you felt a bit better but there were times you thought about the stars. All so beautiful in the sky.
In the afternoon lucci goes to speak with spandam “ I have something I have to do later tonight so I’ll be taking the night off” he says while rubbing hattori chin
“ What’s so important?” Spandam complains like a whiney child
“ None of your business” he retorts
“ Probably bringing (name) somewhere” Kaku says to which slightly embarrasses Lucci.
“ None of your business” lucci walks out
7 pm comes and you were standing outside the gate when seeing the man hold something that was like a picnic basket and a train comes around
“ Get on” the man instructs.
You both get on the train and it starts to ride having it be only the two of you. It was quiet but he opens up the Picnic basket to where they’re was a small home made meal along with some snacks before he opens up the window “ Take a look outside”
You mod and look outside, you were out of enbies lobby and you could see the stars. You start to cry at the nice gesture before he sits next to you holding you.
“ You said you were missing the night sky right? I thought I would let you see it again”
“ Thank you so much!”
You both cuddle and eat watching the night sky before you start to get tired.
You yawn and hug the men quietly thanking him before falling asleep.
“ If I could do this more with you I would” he puts his face into the crook of your neck as a shooting star flies by. Maybe the stars would grant that wish.
Mihawk: it was close to midnight, it was a rainy day after the whole sky be pitch black with no stars shining through at all. The whole day Mihawk had been busy running around unable to see you all day. And right as he gets a break he can see the red hair pirate walk in
“ Yo! I’m not interrupting anything am I?” Shanks says with a smile
“ Right as I get a break to. Come inside I guess. (Name) will be happy to see you” Mihawk says seeing shanks also had alcohol with him
“ Great!” Shanks says walking in going to the living room seeing you were wrapping something up
“ What are you up to (name)” shanks ask looking over
You jump looking surprised “ I’ll tell you but you can’t tell Mihawk”
The red hair man smiles “ deal!” He opens up some rum for the both of you
“ I made ( or bought depending on how you choose) this for Mihawk. I’ve been waiting till he wasn’t busy so I can give it to him but he been busy all day” you say holding the scarf in your hands clenching down on the fabric before seeing Mihawk walk in
“ Mihawk I-“
“ Sorry I’ve been quite busy today. Let’s drink alright?” Mihawk says not noticing it we’re holding something
“ y-yeah!” You put the scarf into pocket
A few hours hours and you were already drunk and leaning against the greatest swordsmen getting tired
“ mihawk~” you say looking at the men before hugging him “ love you” you fall asleep closing your eyes
Mihawk looks quite surprised only to see shanks laugh
“ What’s so funny shanks?” The man looks at shanks with his golden eyes like he was staring into his soul
“ She fell asleep before she could show you it” he points to your pocket “ Look in her left pocket”
Mihawk wonders what the hell the other man was talking about but reaches in your pocket and grabs a scarf
“ it’s a scarf”
“ Look at it closely!” Shanks laughs drinking more alcohol
Mihawk observes it and sees his name is engraved into the scarf making his face turn a light hue of red before wrapping it around his neck and hugging you tightly starting to cuddle you.
You smile in your sleep and mumble “ I love you Mihawk” you go back to being quiet
“ I love you too” he mumbles under his breathe before gently picking you up in his arms and starts to carry you to their shared room “ Goodnight shanks” he mentions.
“ Goodnight you lovers!” He laughs seeing how cute Mihawk was being to you
Mihawk sits both of you on the bed and he watches you with his golden eyes. He thought you were the most beautiful women he has ever seen.
“ Goodnight my love” he kisses your forehead and hugs you tighter falling asleep cuddling you the whole night.
Crocodile: it was about 8 Pm in Alabasta. The sun was setting meaning it was starting to get cold. The days were scorching hot and the nights were freezing cold. Crocodile had another busy day but that was usual for the man but usually once he would have seen you walking around to either have tea ( or coffee) or feeding the bananagators. He’s not one to worry much but for you it was different.
“ where could that women be?” He walks and goes to his bedroom to think but he sees you were in his bed not looking too good. Your face has a red hue to it and you had blankets wrapped around you. You looked sick but crocodile was surprised you were in his bed and not your own
“ What are you do-“ he saw that you were asleep and looking visibly in pain and before he could continue to think nico robin appeared
“ She almost passed out near your room Mr.0. I brought her here earlier this morning. She must of been asleep the whole day”
Crocoldile sighs “ Fine. Can you leave us two alone women”
Nico smiles and leaves the two of them alone
Crocodile looking at form seeing you were still shivering despite being under 3 blankets. His face had worry in it before going to the bathroom grabbing a thermometer.
You open your eyes slowly seeing the man walk over to you “ I’m sorry cr-“
“ Don’t talk” he puts the thermometer into your mouth and when hearing the beep he takes it out. You definitely had a fever. He goes to call a doctor but can feel your hand grab on his clothes
“Please cuddle with me” you ask before letting go. You were so tired that you couldn’t even keep your grip on the mans coat
Crocodile wouldn’t admit it but he did find it cute that such a strong women like you would ask for something like that. He would completely deny any one else but he sighs shaking his hand “ Alright” he gets in bed and wraps his coat around you knowing you like his coat before seeing you wrap your arms around his form and closing your eyes once again
“ Thank you crocodile” you fall asleep having your face show the real pain you were in once again.
The man hugs you lightly not wanting to hurt you but let’s put a small smile before frowning “ Your definitely seeing a doctor tomorrow. But for now I will cuddle with you. I love you (name) you are a very strong women and I can’t see you being sick” he goes and turns off the light “ Goodnight (name)” you both sleep the whole night together having crocodile keep your warm the whole night.
Sanji: it was 7 pm, the stars were shining beautifully through the night sky. Everyone had finished dinner but you had decided not to eat. You wanted to watch the stars in the sky and think about the solar system as a whole. They’re were so many theories out there but one that was always on your mind is that the people you missed were a star in the night watching over you to keep you safe. It had been a while since you were on the ship with your crew but you missed the people you love and watching the stars made you feel closer to them. You were so lost in the stars you didn’t even hear Sanji yell your name
“ (name)-chaaaaaannn!!” Sanji rushes over with food that he had saved for you but he sees that you were so intently looking at the stars that you didn’t even notice he was there, to which made him shock
“ (name)-Chan?” He says poking your shoulder to which makes you jump “ Didn’t mean to scare you but you never came to dinner so I saved you some food”
“ O-oh thank you Sanji-Kun” you smile a bit taking the food and give him a hug in thanks before eating quietly and watching the stars
Sanji felt like he could pass out at the women, your hugs were like a hug from the goddess, your smile was brighter then any star in the sky.
He goes and sits down next to you wanting to spend some time together
“ What are you thinking about cutie?” He ask to which your face gets bright red
“ I-I well” it takes you a moment before speaking again “ When I look at the stars it brings me peace. They’re are so many different things people believe in when thinking about the stars. But the first thing that comes to mind for me is the people you love, the people you miss. They are the stars in the night watching over you, protecting you to whoever may harm you. They are the guiding light in the night sky” you take a bit of your food almost chocking when Sanji hugs you close, smelling the strawberry shampoo in your hair “ Are you missing someone right now?” He ask rubbing your hair trying to soothe you
You hum and nod your head “ I love being with everyone here, it’s always a fun new adventure waiting to happen but...” you take a breathe “ I do miss some people in my life. Every day I’m grateful for being here with everyone but I do miss them”
“ It’s okay (name)-Chan. That’s completely normal feeling. Everyones loves you here but I love you more then anyone else on this ship. I’m always here for you” Sanji looks up at the stars
You finish your dinner and lean against the cook giving him a kiss on the cheek “ Can we stay like this for a bit longer? I know you have to clean up but being with you like this... it makes me happy”
“ of course darling, anything for you”
Both you and Sanji spend a long time in each other’s arms watching the stars in the sky and enjoy each other’s company.
Zoro: today had been quite a peaceful day on the ship to which was a very rare occasion but it did sometimes happen. You were able to relax peacefully, everyone doing there own things but all you could here was Zoro grunt when lifting weights. You knew he was lifting inhuman number of weights but he was being very loud today for some reason. You stop whatever your doing and try to walk to him but you start to fall off the ship and before you go overboard Zoro had dropped his weights and grabbed you quickly
“ Z-Zoro...” you look at the man “ T-thank you”
Zoro humans but starts to hug you tighter while putting his face into his shoulder seeing some of his crew mates staring
“ Zoro is something wro-“ before you could continue Zoro quickly lifted you up your feet and carried you both to your bedroom placing you on the bed
“ Zoro what’s going o-“
“ I want to cuddle with you (name)” a light blush forms on his face “ I wanted to all day but I couldn’t get the words out. But seeing you almost fall off the ship it-“
You go and kiss the swordsmen cheek smiling “ It’s okay. I would love to cuddle with you”
He grins and gets in bed with you. He wraps you both in a blanket before hugging you tightly. One big arm wraps around your body while the other plays with your hair. He loved you so much, toot smile, your laugh, the way you shine in the sun, the way you could make his day with a snap of the finger. Zoro would never have thought of falling in love but with you, it was a whole new feeling, one he would never want to stop.”
“ I love you (name)”
“ I love you too Zoro. Thank you for cuddling with me”
He hums and the rest of the day you both cuddle and talk having it be a peaceful but very nice day, to which you both will hold dearly in your hearts
Im sorry if there are any grammar mistakes as I didn’t check before hand due to it being my birthday and I wanted to get this out as quick as possible! Again I hope you enjoy!

Text
more than words
50 words; 50 sentences
ao3
#01 - Motion
A spinning kick, a swing of blade — the two meet and hit but don’t hurt, and Nami sighs exasperatedly at such a pathetic display of a mating dance.
#02 - Cool
Zoro stands his ground as his enemy — finally, finally — falls unceremoniously on his back, unconscious, and Sanji thinks for a moment that the sight of Zoro — wild and victorious and ready to take on the world — looks kind of, maybe, slightly cool.
  #03 - Young
Brook sees the two — dying to die for each other, the weight of their friends’ lives pulling down their shoulders — and he thinks too many people forget how young they still are.
  #04 - Last
The Cook is the last person Zoro would consider lending a hand in a fight — “who would want to work together with that dumbass anyway,” he lies whenever anyone asks, and doesn’t admit that it’s because he trusts Sanji’s ability to stand his ground, wholly and fully.
  #05 - Wrong
Sanji knows Zoro, like him, understands better than most — that this nakama thing isn’t just something you’d die for, but something you’d kill for, too.
  #06 - Gentle
Sanji manages to catch Kitetsu before it rolls off from the deck during a storm, and in that moment, Zoro knows, from the reverent way he regards the swords in his hands, that this isn’t the first time the Cook has wielded one.
  #07 - One
“Calm down, Marimo,” Sanji says with a dismissive wave of his hand when Zoro asks about the sword a few days later, “I’m not about to take your place as the ship’s swordsman; a cook doesn’t use his hands to fight, and I had a terrible teacher anyways.”
  #08 - Thousand
“I’m worth two thousand men,” Zoro grumpily says, almost sulking, and Nami can’t resist patting his head like she would to a little boy pulling the pigtail of a girl he has a crush on.
  #09 - King
You’re like the prince of Dumbass Kingdom, Zoro says, and it takes Sanji everything in him not to blurt out, Dumbass Kingdom sounds about right; wait ‘till you see the fucking king.
  #10 - Learn
Watching Sanji converse fluently with a couple of tourists in a Northern language, Zoro wonders when he will ever stop learning something new about Sanji — or if he ever will, at all.
  #11 - Blur
When Zoro finally comes to, the wounds from Bartholomeow Kuma is muted by Chopper’s medicine, a dull throb at the back of his consciousness; but the sharp pain against his heart feels raw still, visceral and razor-sharp, tucked alongside the ache of Sanji’s sacrifice.
#12 - Wait
“Wait,” he manages to croak out before Sanji flees the room, the word spilling out unbidden; he isn’t quite sure why, but he knows that he wants the Cook to stay.
  #13 - Change
“Have some fucking decency ,” Sanji yells, throwing a shirt at Zoro’s direction; the brute has been walking around the ship bare-chested like an eyesore ever since they entered the summer island, and Sanji is just trying to do everyone a favor — and definitely not because there’s a different kind of heat pooling at the pit of his stomach.
#14 - Command
Robin watches the two in amusement — Zoro could have easily refused to be Sanji’s pack mule, and she can hear him grumbling about it still; and yet, here they are, once again, together at the island’s marketplace.
#15 - Hold
Sanji is rough around the edges, bristling at the slightest touch; Zoro knows he needs to be gentle, but he doesn’t quite remember the last time he held something that isn’t a hilt of a sword, without meaning to hurt . It’s a learning curve.
  #16 - Need
Sanji knows Zoro is a dumbass, but it takes a special kind of stupid to think he would never be good enough for Sanji, when he’s all that Sanji has ever needed.
#17 - Vision
Zoro never regrets losing his eye, but he wishes, sometimes, he could still take in the sight of Sanji with an unimpaired vision, just to see more of him.
  #18 - Attention
“You’re starting a fight, Marimo?” Sanji growls, voice low and dangerous, and Zoro thinks, yes, yes, anything to get you to look at me.
  #19 - Soul
He loves the kid like a brother, but sometimes Zoro hates how Luffy can easily see past his gruff words and feigned ignorance; the way Luffy only needs to take one look at him to guess, “you’re worried about Sanji, aren’t you?”
  #20 - Picture
He carries around everyone’s bounty posters, Sanji tells himself, and tries not to think too hard about how the only one he kept in his breast pocket is Zoro’s, folded neatly against his heart.
  #21 - Fool
“This is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done so far,” Sanji says when they part, lips still tingling from their earlier kiss, because Zoro’s love is fierce and consuming and Sanji knows, ever since he was just a kid with the iron mask, that he doesn’t deserve any of this.
  #22 - Mad
“Don’t you ever say that kind of shit again,” Zoro snarls, slamming the wall beside Sanji’s head, his voice trembling with a kind of anger Sanji has never seen him with before — frustrated, desperate. “You’re important to me, Cook.”
  #23 - Child
Grow up and cast your dreams away, Sanji tells himself every day, the voice ringing in his ears; you stopped being a child deserving of a dream the moment you chained Zeff down to the ground.
  #24 - Now
Grow up and cast your dreams away, Sanji wants to tell himself, but the voice stutters, drowned out by the sight of the kid bleeding on the deck of Baratie — he’s a swordsman, too, acknowledged by none other than Dracule Mihawk himself — but a kid still, throwing himself headfirst towards the case of his dreams, steps unweighted by regrets.
  #25 - Shadow
Zoro doesn’t know which is worse — Sanji, forever running away from the shadow his brothers cast; or Zoro, chasing after someone who is no longer around to leave behind a shadow anymore.
  #26 - Goodbye
After Whole Cake Island, there’s a period of time where Zoro would follow Sanji around the ship like a lost puppy, unwilling to let the Cook out of his sight; Usopp definitely didn’t expect Zoro to have such a cute side, and crouches over his new invention to hide his smile.
  #27 - Hide
“We’re not doing that here,” Sanji hisses, and forces himself not to laugh at the pout on Zoro’s face; the galley might be secluded enough, but they’re still on the enemy ship’s galley.
  #28 - Fortune
It is annoying, the way Sanji keeps reminding Zoro that he could have collected Mihawk’s bounty and lived the rest of his life in wealth; especially when Zoro would trade any riches in the world just to stay by the Cook’s side.
  #29 - Safe
It catches Zoro off guard when Sanji starts talking about his mother; it’s a short anecdote, a single happy memory, but Zoro can tell by the way Sanji tells it — guarded and hesitant, like he wants to keep the words close and safe — that he has never shared it with anyone else before.
  #30 - Ghost
Usopp starts shaking like a leaf as soon as they enter the abandoned, dilapidated house, and Sanji gently tells him, sometimes the worst ghost is the one you create yourself; Zoro feels the weight of Wado on his hip, and agrees.
  #31 - Book
“I don’t need this,” Zoro grumbles with a blush, pushing the book back into Nami’s hands, trying hard to ignore Nami’s laughter and the words ROMANCE FOR DUMMIES emblazoned on the book’s jacket.
  #32 - Eye
Shusui sinks into the man’s stomach, all the way to the hilt, and Zoro thinks of the way Sanji curled into himself as the man landed a lucky hit on the cook’s hand. An eye for an eye.
  #33 - Never
“This is my first time,” Zoro whispers, head ducking away as he feels his face flush at the admission; but Sanji’s hand rests on his cheek, encouraging, and he can feel the curve of Sanji’s smile as their lips meet and Sanji replies, “it’s mine, too.”
  #34 - Sing
Luffy cheers when Zoro and Sanji comes into view, and he lets them take on the next batch of enemies; a good fight is always fun, but watching Zoro and Sanji fight is even more so — like watching a dance that only those two know the melody to.
  #35 - Sudden
“What, are we supposed to be surprised?” Nami says, barely looking up from the map she’s working on; Sanji sputters, face redder than the tomatoes he served during breakfast, and Nami feels almost bad for him.
  #36 - Stop
“But we — Zoro and I — how did you know?” Sanji asks, and promptly stops asking questions when he realizes the rest of the crew aren’t surprised either; who could blame them, when his and Zoro’s sexual tension can be seen from a mile away.
  #37 - Time
Sanji knows they have to break apart soon, just to breathe, but right now all he cares about is to taste as much of Zoro as possible — he has waited two years for this, and it has been two years too long.
  #38 - Wash
They have their fair share of fighting — and how, considering the amount of repairs Usopp has to do for Merry just from their petty fights alone — but what the crew doesn’t know is that they also have this thing, this quiet thing, just him and the Cook and a stack of dirty plates between them.
  #39 - Torn
“In retrospect,” Robin observes, “dressing up our dear cook in a maid uniform would not only lower the enemy’s firepower, but also ours, considering how distracted our swordsman has clearly become.”
  #40 - History
“Why do you keep him around, mister?” The kid asks, pointing at the old swordsman with three swords and an eye scar by the peer; Sanji laughs, pats the kid on the head, and says, almost wistfully — “you can say we have some history.”
  #41 - Power
Sanji tugs at Zoro’s sleeve, and Zoro follows suit despite his complaints — Sanji thinks, distantly, how much of an honor it is, to have so much control over such a powerful man.
  #42 - Bother
“I didn’t have enough time to make this three-tier ice cream cake for our lovely Nami-san and Robin-chan because you distracted me!” Sanji says with a hard jab of a finger against Zoro’s chest, and Zoro thinks, good .
  #43 - God
Zoro does not believe in gods, but there’s a hymn of a noise when Zoro presses his lips against the crook of Sanji’s neck, the hallelujah of the world breaking apart as their bodies move together, and he thinks, close enough .
  #44 - Wall
Zoro slams his fist into the wall of Polar Tang, and is taken aback by the depth of his own frustration; he knows Luffy and the others will get Sanji back from Big Mom’s place, but it unsettles him still, the way Sanji hides himself under layers of pretenses when Zoro has bared so much of himself to the Cook in return.
  #45 - Naked
“What the fuck was that for , Mosshead?!” Sanji shrieks, justifiably furious, leg raised and on fire after Zoro sliced his tray into two without preamble; Zoro can’t exactly tell the Cook he did it because he was too surprised at the sight of Sanji in a swimming trunk and nothing else.
  #46 - Drive
Why Zoro , people sometimes ask, but the answer is easy to Sanji — nobody drives him crazy the way Zoro does, and is that not what true love feels like?
  #47 - Harm
Zoro knows Sanji will be furious ; but as he faces Kuma, knowing at least the Cook is out of harm’s way, he knows he would do this a hundred times over, a thousand times over, a million times over.
  #48 - Precious
Sanji is sitting by the corner of the infirmary, face pale with red-rimmed eyes, and Zoro thinks he’s never had that, before — people who would weep for him, knowing that he is more than dried scars and calloused skin.
  #49 - Hunger
This thing we have is dangerous, Sanji tells him, but Zoro doesn’t care — he already has a craving, the same way he needs a booze when it’s been too long, except he thinks that this vice will surely kill him.
  #50 - Believe
This isn’t faith; this is the truth, Zoro’s truth, the same way he knows he will become the Greatest — Sanji will find that elusive sea of his, and Zoro will stay with him until it is the last thing he can do.

Base headcanons for this AU beneath the cut! ↓ ↓ ↓
Luffy's a mermaid who was raised in Fuusha village, just like in canon. And, just like in canon, despite being a mermaid, she SUCKS at swimming, a fact that Shanks finds absolutely hilarious. She still wants to become a pirate, she still eats her devil fruit and becomes a rubber mer(?), she still gets kidnapped by Higuma (who sees her as an excellent way to rake in cash, given how valuable mermaids are on the slave market), and Shanks still gives her his hat.
As a devil fruit user, Luffy's already atrocious swimming skills are now at zero. She can still breathe under water, but will sink like a stone, her strength sapped by the sea, and if she loses consciousness she'll stop breathing too. Needless to say, she stays out of the water, and the villagers come to accept that sometimes, mermaids just live on land.
Garp still comes back, and is still furious at her wanting to become a pirate (and inwardly, extremely concerned that a bandit tried to catch and sell her), and still takes her to live at Dadan's where she meets Ace.
Ace has no idea what to think of the weird fish-brat who he's now told is gonna be his sibling, and resolutely ignores Luffy. He's inwardly slightly impressed as Luffy continues to follow him through the mountain every day, not even particularly hindered by lack of legs and using a mixture of crawling, squirming, hand-walking, and ricocheting forward with rubber arms to move.
Luffy still meets Sabo the same way as canon, and is still caught by Porchemy, who at first is thrilled because a mer brat! That'll bring in WAY more money than the spare change Ace stole! But in the end, he loses his temper at Luffy's stubbornness and still beats her to a pulp.
Ace and Sabo still rescue Luffy, and they still exchange sake cups and become brothers.
Yes, brothers.
Because at this point, neither Ace nor Sabo nor any of the bandits, nor anyone really on Dawn island save Makino and Garp actually know that Luffy's a girl. Not even Luffy.
The three brothers promise to each other that they'll all leave the island when they turn seventeen, setting out to sea to become pirates (Ace and Sabo are honestly a little concerned, given how often people try to sell Luffy, and how despite aquatic appearances Luffy's vulnerable af in water, but decide to wait and see. They have seven years together, Luffy ten until seventeen, who knows how much stronger their baby brother will get in that time).
Sabo "dies."
Ace and Luffy continue to train, and things don't change until Ace is seventeen, shortly before he sets out to sea.
He's let Luffy crawl into his blanket to sleep with him (partially cold-blooded, Lu gets cold easily when inactive), and Ace realizes that his lil brother's chest feels a bit lumpy.
Concerned, he makes Luffy have it checked out by the bandits, who are shocked to find developing...breasts?
That can't be right...right?
Dadan makes a call to Garp, who snorts and says of COURSE Luffy's a girl, didn't he say granddaughter?
No, he had not, he had only mentioned "grand child."
Everyone is shocked, but none more so than Ace, who really doesn't know what to do with this new information.
(Luffy's not quite sure what a "girl" is, and when she asks Ace, Ace honestly doesn't know how to define "girl" either, so she doesn't get what the big deal is)
Ace realizes he's troubled because he can't remember the number of times he's rescued Luffy from potential traffickers, and the number of times he's heard the lament, "Pity it's not female, it'd be worth quadruple," from the kidnappers before he beats them to a pulp.
He already had doubts about letting Luffy go out to sea alone, three years after he's left. But now knowing that Luffy's a girl, and one of the most sought-after species that traffickers target...he knows the world out there is much bigger than a teeny peaceful East Blue island, and Luffy may not get lucky every time, and may not be strong enough in just three years.
But at the same time, it's not like he can order her to stay here. There's no way Luffy'd listen; the sea calls to her, freedom calls to her, and Ace understands that more than anyone.
Sabo, Ace thinks, what would you do?
The night before he leaves, Ace tells Luffy that there's been a change of plans.
He's still leaving for sea. He's going to get stronger, and work his way towards becoming Pirate King.
BUT, three years later, Luffy will NOT leave Dawn Island alone.
Ace promises that he'll come back, a stronger pirate capable of looking out for his baby brother (because girl or not, they exchanged vows of brotherhood, and that's something that can't be changed).
He refuses to let Luffy be his captain, he's still got his pride, but maybe, maybe if Luffy becomes strong enough, he'll let her be co-Captain.
Luffy is thrilled, because she wanted to be pirates WITH Ace, and grudgingly accepts the compromise, and promises to train and wait for Ace's return.
Ace leaves Dawn island, and makes a name for himself on the Grand Line (he's PISSED when he finds out he's eaten a devil fruit, because now how's he supposed to rescue Lu from drowning when he can't swim himself???).
He even eventually makes it to Whitebeard, and eventually comes to admire the man. Whitebeard invites him to his crew, and Ace honestly replies that a large part of him wants to accept...but he can't. He promised his baby brother that they'll be pirates and co-captains together, and he can't join another pirate crew without Luffy agreeing too. Even so, and he knows it's selfish of him, he wants to call Whitebeard his father.
Whitebeard tells him that Ace is already his son, regardless of where his allegiances lie, and gives him his blessing to return to East Blue to fetch Luffy. Whitebeard laughs that he can't wait to meet the lil brat that Ace speaks so highly of, and for Ace to hurry up and come back to the New World so they can meet.
Ace plans on traveling light, his former crew all choosing to join the Whitebeard pirates except for his first mate, Deuce. Ace loves his crew, but they're also his crew, and knows that he wants to make their crew with Luffy. So he thinks he and Deuce will be a good starting point (You're just bringing me along bc you want someone who can swim on the crew, Deuce accuses).
As they're planning on leaving, Marco lets slip to fellow commander Thatch that he heard that Ace's "little brother" is actually a super cute girl.
The next morning, Thatch shows up too, insisting that he come along, because hey! He's been with the Whitebeards for ages and hasn't been to Paradise in a while, he wants some change! And won't it be nice to have someone as reliable as him along, just until they get back to the New World and reunite with the Whitebeards? Really he has no ulterior motives like wanting to check out Ace's supposedly hyper hot baby brother-sister!
Ace is suspicious, but Thatch is already on board and the other Whitebeards are already waving so he lets it go.
(Shortly after they leave, Thatch discovers a devil fruit. Deuce tells him to sell the damn thing, it'll taste like shit, but Thatch thinks boy wouldn't it be great to be able to woo Ace's hot brother with a really cool devil fruit power. So he eats it, and yeah it tastes like shit, but now he can control Darkness which is sorta badass?)
(Somewhere on the Whitebeard ships, Blackbeard is still waiting for someone to find the darkness devil fruit, and well, it doesn't happen)
Before Ace returns to Dawn Island, part of him still hopes that Luffy looks passably like a guy. Having been to Fishman island, having befriended Jinbe, he knows that while mermen can still be targeted, mermaids are exponentially more vulnerable. He's learned the kinds of clothing that can help conceal tails, and is hoping that there's a slim chance they might be able to be pirates without the world knowing that Lu's a mermaid.
His hopes are shot when Luffy rockets into his arms at the dock, and his face is immediately buried in enormous tits that definitely weren't there three years ago.
Despite Ace's growing concerns (and red face; why does he feel so hot??? It's not his devil fruit...), Ace lets Luffy give Deuce a beating (why me?!) to claim her position as Ace's Co-Captain of the newly established ASL pirates (because if we're pirates together, Sabo has to be with us too!).
Luffy's gotten a lot stronger, but is still utterly ignorant of the outside world and the dangers it holds (such as the drooling Thatch who immediately wins Luffy over with his cooking despite Ace's burning glares). She's reckless and falls into the ocean every damn day, and while Deuce dives in after her and they've discovered her useful ability to talk to fish to ask for help, it still gives Ace heart attacks.
They still pick up more crew members while in East Blue, including Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji, a pervy cook who competes daily with Thatch for Luffy's affections through food (Luffy appreciates the food).
At Arlong Park, Luffy encounters fishmen for the first time in her life. Arlong mocks Luffy's choice of friends and family, and invites her to join his crew made of her own kind. Fishmen and mer are the superior race, and Luffy will make a fine wife, Arlong says.
Luffy breaks his nose off, and Nami joins their crew.
Luffy's chosen mode of transportation is on the back of one of her sturdier crew mates, usually Ace, but often Zoro too. She unfortunately hates all the long skirts/robes Ace suggested for her to hide her tail, and so Ace has decided that being as intimidating as possible while carrying his brother glued to his back is the only way to go.
Needless to say, news of the former Spade Pirates Captain + Whitebeard Commander Thatch (are they an extension of the Whitebeards??) establishing the new ASL pirates spreads fast. That, and rumors that there's a beautiful young mermaid on board who can't swim. And despite the strength of the crew and their attempts at vigilance, Luffy's still dumb and gullible, and is kidnapped (and rescued) a dozen times before they're even on the Grand Line.
(after a few times, Luffy's uncharacteristically quiet, and privately asks Ace if they can break up the crew. She's holding Ace back; she not only made him come back to her, but half their adventures just seem to be her crew rescuing her. She's strong enough to defeat enemies, but not save herself. Ace tells her to shut up, and never bring this up again; they're BROTHERS, and he's not going to leave her behind or make her abandon her dreams when she can't accomplish them alone, and that's his choice. Luffy doesn't bring it up again, but works harder than ever to become stronger and earn recognition as co-Captain when the world seems intent on thinking of her as Ace's pet.)
During one of these kidnappings, Luffy's successfully brought all the way to an auction house before her crew can rescue her. An auction house that unbeknownst to them, was under investigation by the Revolutionary Army.
Liberating slaves is an unfortunately common mission for them, and Sabo's doing final sweeps as Koala frees the last of them when he notices a tank stowed away in a corner. He's familiar with these tanks, used to showcase mermaids in the rare occasions one can be caught, and it looks empty but he's still drawn to it for some reason.
It's only when he gets closer that he notices a mermaid crumpled at the bottom of the enclosure. She's completely slumped over, and he's afraid she's already gone, even as something about her screams with familiarity.
He's cracked the tank and has reached in to pull her out, when the wall behind him explodes in flames, revealing a furious Ace who snarls at the strange man with his hands on his baby brother...
...and then Sabo's memories come back.

Take your time (I’ll wait)
I have a head canon that Sanji’s full of hot air, he believes he’s the woman whisperer, but should an attractive woman actually flirt with him, especially the woman of his dreams, he wouldn’t realise or know what to do.
Also, I wanted Nami to make the first move for once.
This is for my wonderful friend @fangirlingwithnoregrets. I told her I was writing something for her but told her I had no idea when it would be done. Well, I lied.
Summary:Black leg Sanji, self-proclaimed ladies’ man, can’t even see when he’s being flirted with. Nami has her work cut out for her. Rating: M- just to be safe.
This can also be found on AO3 and FFN.
Enjoy!
For eight long years, Nami had gathered money, week by week, month by month, never taking a break. It was hard, it was painful, and it was relentless. But despite all of that, she’s never had to work as hard as she is right now.
“Oh, Sanji-kun!” Nami called after him like she was surprised as the cook came into view. She’d heard the kitchen door open and the familiar pattern of his steps and she’d sprang into action.
“Yes, Nam-” He stopped dead, words lost at the sight in front of him and Nami had to bite down her grin.
There Nami stood just outside the women’s door, her hand pressed to her chest to hold the front of her dress up with the back unzipped, exposing her creamy back. Sanji looked like he was going to have a seizure, his eyes as round as golf balls and mouth agape.
In her most innocent voice, she asked, “Could you zip me up?”
He didn’t reply straight away, and if her ears had heard right, he actually gurgled. It was exactly what she was going for and she only had to wait another long moment before he was taking a tentative step towards her, like he was expecting it all to be a joke.
She played it oblivious, like she hadn’t noticed his struggle and turned to display her back- to show off what she needed done, of course, no other reason. She may have also scooped her hair up out of the way and curved her back more than necessary, but she needed to exaggerate.
He just wasn’t getting it.
When she felt him finally standing behind her, she turned her head to the side to look at him and fluttered her eyelashes. “Thank god you came by when you did, I’ve been struggling with the zip for ages.”
She’d waited twenty minutes behind her bedroom door for him to leave that damn kitchen.
Sanji nodded at her stiffly, staying silent but his reaction spoke volumes. His hands jittered nervously as they reached for the zip of her dress and he stopped breathing at it slowly dragged upwards. His hands lingered when the zip reached the top and before he could pull away, she was speaking, “Oh, could you also do up the clasp?”
He nodded dumbly, fingers fumbling to follow the new request and it took him three attempts before he finally managed it. He breathed out loudly when he was done and she felt it dance along her neck, causing her to shiver.
Letting her hair down, she spun around to face him. “Thank you for doing that, Sanji-kun.” Her hands smoothed the front of the dress and Sanji watched their journey like a hawk. It was incredibly satisfying but so frustrating because that’s all he ever did. Look. Not touch.
“Maybe you can help me out of it later.” When all he did was gape at her, she spared him and explained, “With the zipper, it gets stuck.”
She truly commended him for holding it together, not one sight of blood. Where was he finding all of this self-restraint from all of a sudden?
He found his voice then, “Of course,” he croaked.
Nami beamed at him and he took a step back, turning to leave. His footsteps were uneven, like he was going to faint at any moment, and it was such a stark difference from before that Nami grinned to herself. It wasn’t exactly what she wanted, but it was something.
“You have no shame, woman.”
Nami turned to look behind her and Zoro was peering down at her, having just turned the corner. She grinned at him cattily, unaffected by his words and shrugged.
“Keep it up and maybe his balls will finally drop,” were his words of encouragement before leaving and although they sounded harsh, she knew he meant well. She sure hoped his words were true because this was exhausting, she wasn’t sure just how many moves she had left in her arsenal.
Why was she trying so hard, you ask? Because she’d finally realised, after all this time, how she felt about Sanji and getting him to make a move was harder than she’d expected.
Oh, and she’s pretty sure everyone knew about it at this point, except for Sanji, of course.
.
.
.
Nami was going to have to up her game.
Again.
Sanji’s zipped up another dress since then, an even skimpier one this time, where the zipper went all the way down her back and she’d even had her sexiest underwear on, purposefully shifting to show it off. He’d seen it, she knew he had. Heard him gasp, unable to hold it back, and she’d looked over her shoulder to give him a smouldering look, to silently encourage him but instead he’d just got his act together.
He’d taken a deep breath in, zipped up the dress and left.
She’d tried not to take it personally. Maybe she was just rusty.
So she had a new plan. A plan that she knew was going to get him. He was going to have to actually touch her this time.
The plan was put into motion as soon as everyone had left for town and Sanji had retreated to the kitchen. She’d changed into her bikini and laid down on her sun lounger she’d unfolded and waited.
It was a good 20 minutes before he’d come out of the kitchen, and briefly she’d wondered if he’d actually gone into town and she’d missed it. But then he’d flung open the kitchen door, drink in hand, ready to call her name but it died on his lips at the sight of her. She leaned up on her arms, smiling up at him like nothing was wrong but she was no fool, she knew he had a great view of her cleavage, she’d positioned herself that way.
He was motionless for a second, his brain trying to compute what was happening and then walked over, forcing his eyes to look away.
That’s fine though, she’d planned for this. It was time to up the stakes.
Putting on her best smile, she sat up as she accepted the drink and thanked him. She took a large a gulp and put it down next to her lounger. Then she reached up behind her neck, undoing the strings tied there, her other hand cupping her chest to hold the bikini top up.
She wasn’t quite at the stage of flashing him yet. Especially if Chopper wasn’t around.
His hand twitched at his side and he no longer tried to avert his eyes; they watched her hands shamelessly.
Time to bring this home.
Leaning down, she grabbed the sun lotion next to her abandoned drink with her free hand. “Will you put some on my back?” She asked innocently, shaking the bottle at him when all he did was stare, “I don’t want my skin to burn.”
When he nodded wordlessly, still stunned, she took it as a cue to lay back down on her front, carefully positioning herself so her bikini stayed put. When he didn’t move, she held the bottle over her shoulder, ready for him to take.
It was kind of cute. She shuffled over for him to sit and he sat cautiously, like any wrong move and he’d wake up from a dream.
“Can you undo the other bow, please?” She asked sweetly, pulling her hair out of the way to reveal the tied strings at the middle of her back.
“Yeah,” his strained voice replied, and it took a second but then fingers were pulling at the strings. She felt them flutter across her skin to fall either side of her body on the lounger.
It took a second after that, and she wished she could see his face, but she wasn’t ready for that yet. The first touch was cold as his lotioned hands made contact and Nami hissed at the temperature difference on her skin and he muttered a quiet ‘sorry’ under his breath.
He was clumsy at first, unsure. His hands skittered across her skin, trying to keep the touching to a minimum, which was ridiculous considering the task. Nami was having none of it, so she hummed in contentment, relaxing under his touch and it seemed to have an immediate effect. He relaxed, his posture slackening next to her and he no longer looked like he was going to take off at a moment’s notice. His hands found their purpose, surer of themselves and moved with more rhythm against her skin.
Now she could really start to enjoy this.
“Sorry, Sanji-kun, could you make sure to get rid of the streaking? White marks ruin a tan.”
He complied so easily, his hands running large strokes along her back and although it was a hot day, she could feel goosebumps erupting along her arms. His hands were soft on her skin, but firm in their actions and she briefly wondered if he moisturised them regularly considering how much he probably had to wash them.
At one point, he daringly ran his hands down the side of her waist, she wasn’t sure if he was doing it on purpose or not, but she would see that behaviour was rewarded. It was the most she’d got from him since this all started. She sighed loudly, almost making it sound like a light moan and wiggled her hips.
It was a cheap trick, but it had the exact effect she was going for. His hands were back at her waist, slowly stroking up her sides and daringly reaching higher up, not brave enough to brush the underside of her breast but enough to make her shiver.
Finally.
“You’re really good with your hands,” she said softly, laying her head against her arms and looking at him from over her shoulder. “If you weren’t a chef, you’d make a great masseuse.”
He had a light blush on his cheeks, but he smiled down at her boyishly, “Maybe something to consider if we’re short on money?” He joked, laughing lightly at the end.
“Hmmm,” she paused, as if mulling it over, “it’s not a bad idea but maybe I want to keep you to myself.” She leaned back up on her forearms, turning as much as she could to look at him.
It was bold and she really was putting herself out there, half naked on the deck and basically telling him she wanted him all to herself, but it was worth it. He leaned closer and she didn’t miss the way his eyes darted down to her lips quickly. His hands had stopped their travels over her back and rested heavily on either side of her waist.
Time to bring this home.
“A man who can cook, dress well and is good with his hands, a catch if you ask me.”
She had him.
He was blushing brightly now, speechless but leaning closer by the second, she could almost count his blonde eyelashes. His breath was light against her face, and she shivered again. He was going to kiss her, this was it.
The spell was broken with the thumping of footsteps hitting the deck.
Zoro had ungracefully climbed back on board, unaware he was interrupting something, but it had the effect of splashing cold water on their moment. Well, not so much Nami. But for Sanji the effect was instant. He clammed up, all the tension she had eased out of his body back tenfold, his hands were off of her body and he pulled away like a shot.
It was game over.
She had been so close.
Under his breath he muttered an excuse, stood up and made a quick journey across the deck, retreating into the kitchen. He was still somewhat in character, he made sure to shoot Zoro a dirty look before disappearing but that didn’t help Nami as she watched his retreating figure.
Even Zoro looked concerned.
If it wasn’t for Sanji’s obvious interest and reactions, Nami might have started to doubt herself.
.
.
.
It took a few days for Nami to get back up on her feet and try again. It wasn’t exactly easy putting yourself out there to be shot down each time. Well, she wasn’t shot down, he reacted, but it wasn’t what she wanted. God, even Zoro, in his own blunt and brash way, had given her a pep talk.
Zoro!
And in those few days, Nami wondered if maybe she’d come on too strong. Maybe the best form of action wasn’t to hit on Sanji half-naked. He was hardly the most composed person and she could always ease him into that later.
The new plan was subtle but friendly.
They were having a small party on the deck after Luffy’s and Usopp’s impressive fishing haul from earlier today. There was a large table filled with food and drinks in the centre of the deck, with chairs scattered around in an unorganised fashion. It was a bit of a free for all, but then when was anything with them involved anything but that. Luffy’s currently doing impressions of various people they’ve met, much to the crew’s amusement, and they’re all guessing who it is.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Sanji leaving the kitchen, finally finished with the food as he held the last dish in his hand. As soon as the dish was set down, he was scanning across the deck for somewhere to sit and jumped eagerly as Nami waved him over to the empty seat next to hers.
Which, honestly, was nice considering the lengths she’d gone to recently.
If Sanji noticed that their chairs were closer together than anyone else’s, he didn’t say anything as he slid down next to her. She smiled at him but frowned shortly after at his empty hands.
“You’re not going to eat anything?”
“I taste and test as I go along to make sure everything’s okay, I’m good for now.”
Nami snorted, “Don’t tell Luffy that, if he gets to eat along the way, he might actually take an interest in cooking.”
Sanji laughed lightly, smiling down at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Her thigh brushed against his as she shifted but she didn’t move away, just settled in closer.
“Do you mind?” Sanji asked, hand nervously twiddling the cigarette between his fingers and she bit down the grin. She’d learned over the last few weeks that if he was nervous, it showed through his hands.
“Not at all,” She replied, “It reminds me of home, actually. Bell-mère used to smoke non-stop.”
“Oh really?” He encouraged, before taking a drag and blowing it out the other side.
“Yeah, our village doctor used to nag her. Kind of like Chopper with you,” she smiled and Sanji laughed.
It was always nice talking to him, he made it was so easy. If it wasn’t for his perverted tendencies or his lack of knowledge with flirting, she might actually be worried about him with other women.
“By the way, do you know who this is?” She asked lowly, as if she were telling him a secret and leaned in. She had his attention instantly, she knew she did, but it didn’t stop her from lightly touching his knee under the ruse of getting his attention.
“Uh, it’s-” he fumbled over his words for a moment before finding his feet, “the new navy admiral. It was on Dressrosa, I don’t think you’ve seen him.”
Her hand was gone then. Small steps. “Yeah, I definitely haven’t.”
They continued back and forth like that, at first guessing who the impressions were, a game within a game almost- who between them both could guess the impression first. It didn’t last as the topic changed and instead, they ended up just talking quietly between themselves and Sanji soon settled into it. His arm was across the back of Nami’s chair and they were leaning into each other, like they were sharing secrets and her hand found a permanent place on his arm.
Neither of them new what game was being played, or if it was even the same one anymore, they had become too wrapped up in each other. At one point, Sanji had got up to get food for himself and a drink for Nami, returning back swiftly. He even flicked his cigarette overboard so he could use that hand to pick at his food, the other arm never moving from around her chair.
Time to step this up a bit.
“Oh, you got the fish. That was really good today, did you do something different?”
He came alive at that question, his face brightening as he started to explain what he had done and tried, apparently it was a different technique.
It started out innocent, just a hand on his knee and he barely blinked at it. She’d been scattering in touches to his knee all evening. Except this time her hand didn’t leave, and it was only a few seconds later that she moved it further up his leg.
His eyes flicked nervously down to her hand and then back to her face, he looked like he was trying to assess what was going on.
She kept a poker face and asked a different question about dinner.
Just as he was telling her about a new cookbook he’d bought, her hand slide further up his leg until it rested comfortably on his thigh. It rested as high as it could without accidently touching something else. Not that she had an issue with that, but she’d rather they were on the same page first and didn’t have an audience.
He almost choked, then. She wasn’t sure on what, he’d stopped eating since he’d started discussing their dinner, but his eyes watered, and she passed him her drink.
His eyes almost bulged at that, but she didn’t truly shock him until she rubbed his thigh, being so bold as to run her hand down to his inner thigh.
“Are you okay?” She asked, half in mock concern and half real concern. He did look like he was about to have a heart attack, after all.
With a bright red face, he nodded, almost wheezing but he shut his mouth before that could come out. She smiled reassuringly at him but as soon as she squeezed at his inner thigh, he was on his feet. His chair clattered from the sudden move.
“Ah, um, the kitchen’s a mess,” he blurted, dancing between his feet, “I should-” he pointed at the kitchen.
“I can help,” she offered, leaning forward on her chair.
“No! I mean- no, thank you. Enjoy,” he finished awkwardly, gesturing at the deck, towards their friends and stiffly walked to the kitchen.
And then he was gone, not looking back once.
Nami was utterly defeated. She had nothing left. That was her last trick and nothing.
Unbeknown to Nami, who was still dejectedly looking at the kitchen door, Zoro was frowning at her from the other side of the deck after witnessing their little display. But it wasn’t just Zoro, Usopp next to him nudged his arm and made a ‘what the hell’ gesture. Zoro shrugged at him, as bewildered as he was.
.
.
.
This was stupid. She was Nami, cat thief and navigator of the infamous Straw hats; she was a gorgeous, wanted woman (in more ways the one). Yeah, it stung that she’d been rejected, but she’d get over her little crush on Sanji. At least she had her answer now anyway.
The pep talk didn’t do much to make her feel better right now, she wished it did, but it didn’t. Suddenly, she didn’t feel like partying anymore.
Before she could make up an excuse to leave, Usopp got up and went to the kitchen. Normally she wouldn’t think anything of it, but she’d seen his expression. He looked serious and stern, like he was about to tell someone off and marched to the kitchen like a man on a mission.
Maybe she’d missed something during her brief period of wallowing.
Except, when she looked around the deck, everyone looked normal. They were still talking and laughing, completely unaware of Sanji’s exit or Usopp’s huffy departure. Zoro caught her eye and he jutted his chin out towards the kitchen. She turned to look and Usopp was just about to swing the door open. Looking back at Zoro, he nodded but she didn’t get the chance to get anything more from him because then he was throwing in a comment to the rest of them, causing them to laugh.
A diversion.
She got up to her feet and walked over to the kitchen casually, so she didn’t attract attention. Except she didn’t enter as she arrived, instead squatting outside so hopefully she’d be a bit covered by the railing from the others on the lawn deck. They were facing the other way, but one careless look and she’d be spotted.
Maybe she didn’t have to worry about that. Zoro didn’t look over at her again, but he was keeping them distracted. God damn it, she’d have to increase his spending money at the next island.
She ignored that and got to the task at hand. The door was cracked open and she wondered if it was left like that by design. She craned her neck towards the crack in the kitchen door and she could hear the voices inside.
She’d missed the start, but it seemed she hadn’t missed much.
“What’s wrong with you!?”
Usopp. He sounded irritated.
“What’s your problem?” Sanji sounded confused and she didn’t blame him. It was rare to come across a cranky Usopp. He was almost as fun loving as Luffy.
“I don’t have a problem, you do! I’m not the one currently brushing off the advances of the woman I’m interested in.”
Oh. Usopp was talking some sense into him, for her.
Ah shit. She was going to have to give him more spending money too. She was going to be poor at this rate.
“Huh?”
“Oh my god! Nami! Nami’s interested in you and you’re doing nothing!”
There’s a long pause and Nami wished she could see their faces, or at least Sanji’s.
“Nami’s not interested in me,” he said it with such surety that Nami questioned her skills.
Usopp spluttered before saying, “You’re kidding right? She’s been all over you the past couple of weeks; the touching, the sun lotion and don’t even get me started on the dress incident.”
“How do you-”
“Zoro told me,” Usopp cut in. “Even Zoro’s caught on before you and that’s Zoro.”
“Nami-san just needed her dress done up.”
“Twice? Doesn’t she room with Robin, a woman that can sprout multiple hands?”
Nothing. Silence.
“Has she ever asked you before?” Usopp’s not letting up though.
There’s a long pause.
“Or put her hand on your thigh, or spend the evening whispering with you or offered to help in the kitchen?” No response. “And that’s just the shortened list, I could keep going if you wanted.”
There’s some shuffling and she wondered if it was Sanji. He did that when he was unsure of himself.
“Nami’s not interested in me, not like that. That’s just Nami being Nami.”
Usopp groaned. “Then how do you explain-”
“It’s a nice thought though,” Sanji interrupted, his voice sounding final, like he’s done with the conversation, and then she can hear footsteps walking further into the kitchen.
“Sanji-!”
“Do you want coffee? And can you ask Nami-san and Robin-chan.”
That’s a dismissal if she ever heard one. She never expected it from Sanji though, it wasn’t like him at all and she frowned at the thought.
No one spoke then and she wondered if they were staring each other down, Usopp could be stubborn when he wanted to be. But then there are footsteps walking towards the door, but they sounded defeated so Nami didn’t scramble away like she wanted to.
Usopp didn’t look surprised to see her, he closed the door after him and stood in front of her. He gave her a solemn look as he delivered, “Good luck getting through to him. He’s convinced nothing’s different.”
Nami stood up then, frustrated as she said, “He’s such an idiot. When has he ever needed this much prompting?”
“Maybe when you weren’t seriously trying, and it was just a pipe dream?” He shrugged
Nami groaned, why did Sanji have to be complex?
“I suggest going direct, now’s not the time to be a coward.”
Rich coming from him. “Like you can talk, coward!”
“I’m not currently trying to woo someone.” He even had the audacity to wiggle his eyebrows at her.
“I am not trying to woo him!” She can feel her cheeks reddening.
She was seducing, it’s a very different thing.
Except Usopp doesn’t stay to argue with her, he spun on his heel and walked off back to the lawn deck. His job was done apparently.
Rude.
She stood there for a second and Usopp and Sanji’s conversation rolled over her, replaying in her head. The longer she thought about it, the more irritated she became. Feeling wound up, she used that energy to get it over with and marched into the kitchen, throwing the door open, only to slam it closed behind her.
Sanji turned at the sound and his face lit up at the sight of her, seemingly over what happened on the deck earlier.
She didn’t give him the chance to greet her or sputter off nonsense.
“Why do you think I’m not interested in you?”
It came out more aggressive than she’d intended and Sanji blinked at her, not expecting that to come out of her mouth.
The brightness on his face dimmed when what she’d said settled in and he’s reaching into his suit pocket for a cigarette. “I don’t know what Usopp or Mosshead said to you, but just ignore it.”
Really. Really.
“I’ve been throwing myself at you for over two weeks. They don’t have to say anything to me.”
He looked stunned, the hand with the cigarette in fell to his side, mouth trying to form around words, eventually all he managed to croak out was a, “No?” He didn’t even sound sure of himself.
“Yes! Sanji, I rubbed your thigh!” She said incredulously. “I almost touched-” she gestured between his legs and he blushed- “there, with no problem about it whatsoever, in front of our friends. I don’t go around doing that to just anyone.”
She used her feminine wiles to get what she wanted, sure, but she never went that far. Never had to, men were so easy.
The frown on his face looked out of place against the blush still on his cheeks and he doesn’t quite look her in the eyes. “But you’re…” He trailed off.
“I’m what?” She really needed to take the impatience out of her tone, it wouldn’t help but honestly, how was he this slow?
“Out of my league.”
She doesn’t know whether to be flattered or angry.
If he truly believed that, then no wonder all her attempts had failed, but did he really not see himself? She almost couldn’t believe she’s going to say this, but apparently it needed to be vocalised because he’s just not getting it.
She took a few steps forward, moving closer towards him. “No I’m not.” Another few steps. “Your kind, sweet, thoughtful, one of my closest friends,” she listed, closer with each attribute she listed, “and you in a suit should be illegal. You fill it out well.”
She was in front of him then.
“Really?” His eyes tentatively flickered to hers and the cigarette in his hand is still unlit.
Progress, she’s getting there.
“Really, really.”
There’s a long pause, but this one’s okay because she thinks her words are settling in.
“Then… can I kiss you?”
All the fight that’s been spurring her on left her so suddenly and his question’s so innocent, but it does something to her. She could feel her cheeks heating up and she has to fight the urge to bashfully look down at the floor. She feels like a schoolgirl and it certainly didn’t help when he cupped her face with his free hand.
But it’s the look on his face that really gets to her. It’s so soft and earnest, but there’s still some doubt hidden behind it, like he couldn’t believe this was happening and it could all be taken away at a moment’s notice.
She nodded, eyes never leaving his face.
He sharply breathed out, like he’d been holding his breath waiting for her answer, and she felt it play again as lips.
It’s nothing compared to when their lips actually touch. It’s soft and tender, a quick brush. Which then turned into more brushes and his other hand cups the other side of her face, she’s not sure what happened to his cigarette. His touch is as delicate as his kisses and it has her clutching at his vest to ground herself.
“Took you long enough,” she spoke against his lips.
“I’m an idiot,” he replied and it’s another brush of lips against hers.
“Understatement,” she murmured, and she’s had enough. Just as he’s about to brush against her lips again, she leaned up on her toes as far as she could to properly kiss him.
It got the reaction she’s been after. It’s still gentle, she couldn’t imagine Sanji being anything other than that, but there’s urgency now, his lips move against hers with purpose. Her hands move up his vest to fist in the lapels, clutching him to her and refusing to let him pull away but he doesn’t even try.
She pulled away after a moment, taking a step back and his hands slide off of her face. He’s surer of himself now, his hands reach for her as she takes another step back to stop her from walking away, but she evaded them. Instead she grabbed his tie, pulling him gently after her and when her legs bump the kitchen counter, he seemed to be getting the idea.
She hopped up onto the counter and the moment she parted her legs, he’s filling the gap between them with his body. She tugged his tie, “This is handy.”
He doesn’t have a chance to respond because she’s tugging it again to bring him back into another kiss. His hands don’t find themselves back on her face, instead they rest low on her hips and she’s happy with the progress he’s made in such a short amount of time.
There’s a shift in the atmosphere when the heels of her feet push into his thighs to press him flush against her. His hands tighten their hold on her hips, and she can’t resist the roll of her hips when his tongue found hers. His mouth is hot against hers and they find their rhythm as they exchange hot kisses. Her hands run up his chest, squeezing his shoulders and the muscles there before stationing themselves in his hair.
They parted to breathe but didn’t go far.
“The last few weeks have been torturously good.”
“And you didn’t question why it’d changed all of a sudden?” She’s not sure she’ll ever be over this.
“I thought I’d been imagining it all. You know, convincing myself something was different when it wasn’t. I was so sure.”
“It was frustratingly impressive. I’ve never seen you so composed.”
“I wasn’t. Well, I was around you but as soon as you were out of sight? I was a mess. You’re so sexy and alluring and well, you. The sun lotion almost broke me, you were so responsive under my hands.”
His jaunty, stiff walk came to mind when he’d scampered away after that and she tried not to laugh as a puzzle piece slotted in. “Sanji… were you turned on after that?”
He didn’t answer her verbally, but he did hide in her neck from embarrassment, nodding after a second.
She shouldn’t be pleased at that, she’d made him suffer, but well, she lapped it up. After what she had thought were failed attempts actually weren’t, it was nice to hear.
“Oh god,” he moaned, lifting his head from her neck as a thought came to him, “and the bath towel?”
Oh yeah. She’d forgotten about the bath towel.
That one had been an accident, not planned at all but she’d used it to her advantage. Well, tried to. She’d taken one step out of the steamy room after having accidently left her clothes in her room and bumped into Sanji who was leaving the toilet. It’d been short lived; he’d taken off before she could do anything, but his immediate reaction had been satisfying.
His hair had almost stood on end just at the sight of her, a hot flush colouring his neck and face. She’d wondered just how far that flush had gone down but she had been distracted by the look on his face. He’d looked like he wanted to devour her.
Kind of like now actually.
“The bath towel was a happy coincidence,” Nami assured him but it didn’t take the look off of his face.
He dived down to reunite their lips and this kiss was hurried, bruising and his hands squeezed her hips. Her hands tugged lightly at the strands of his hair and it was clearly the right move as his hips jumped against hers.
Oh.
He was hard.
It didn’t deter her, if anything she made sure to really emphasise the roll of her hips and he made a breathy sound that made her head light. Just like that, a switch had flicked on and they were barely kissing anymore as they grinded against one another, chasing the feeling caused from the friction. His hands finally slid under her dress, hands pawing at the flesh of her behind and helping her grind into him. The fabric of her dress was bunched just above her hips, but she didn’t care because he felt so good against her and her underwear was wonderfully thin.
A particularly good thrust, good angle, had them both moaning and it was way too hot in the kitchen for this. Distantly she wondered if they were missed outside, but it was pushed to the back of her mind almost instantly.
“Nami, we need to stop or I’m going to embarrass myself,” he panted, but his hips didn’t slow. A quick glance down confirmed there was indeed a wet patch on the front of his trousers.
“Sanji,” she gasped against is lips and became distracted when he licked at the corner of her mouth, “lose the pants.”
He groaned in the back of his throat, “I don’t want our first time to be like this.”
The boner pressed intimately against her disagreed.
“We don’t have to go all the way right now, there are other things we could do instead.”
At his confused look, she raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to catch on. When he still looked confused, she brazenly palmed him through his trousers.
“Oh! Oh!”
Apparently, there wasn’t a great deal of blood left in his brain.
She smirked at him and her fingers deftly started to work at the buckle on his trousers. When his hands pulled hers away, she almost moaned in displeasure but the smoky look he gave her stopped the sounds from tumbling out.
He held her hands in his, pressing a lingering kiss to the knuckles of one of her hands and then promptly dropped to his knees, face hovering between her legs.
“Ladies first.”

Outside on the lawn deck, Luffy was picking at what was left of the food on the table.
“Do you reckon Sanji has more of the octopus?” He didn’t wait for anyone to respond, “I’m gunna go ask him.”
Zoro just managed to snag the back of his top to stop him from going any further. “You’ll have to wait, eyebrow’s busy.”
“Huh? Busy with what?” Luffy turned to look at him, confused. “More octopus?!” He suggested, face lighting up at the thought.
“No. His balls finally dropped.”
Across from Zoro, Usopp laughed.
----------------------------
If I’m not shipping Zoro and Nami, they’re going to be bros. He totally has her back. Usopp’s always a bro, that’s just his default.
As always, please ignore any errors.
Thanks for reading.

Tumblr media
A/N: I remember being so disturbed the first time I watched this movie but looking back I really love the different animation style though eh that might also be influenced by me falling in love with Mamoru Hosoda’s work xD
Ship: Vinsmoke Sanji x Reader (Gender & race neutral) Genre: fluff Warnings: none Word count: 1.500
You felt your mouth water as soon as you entered the room. The table was as per usual filled with delicious looking dishes. You hummed the air... delicious too. All the different smells teased your senses and you couldn’t wait to serve yourself a plate full of Sanji’s cooking.
This is what happened whenever you wandered into the dining room of the Sunny. The blond cook always made sure to take care of the crew. It was his way of showing affection.
Everyone always got delicious dishes, sure... but when it came to you it was a whole other story. You were the one that Sanji had fallen for. Out of everyone on earth, you were the lucky one. You weren’t sure how it had happened. You had thought to yourself that you had never been so lucky before. It was probably the universe giving you back for all the bad things it had thrown at you before and that you had overcome, you liked to think.
Sanji loving you didn’t keep him from being a flirt. It was his nature. However, he always made sure to tell you that you were the only one for him and the main way he did that was by covering you in little treats. He would prepare special drinks and snacks only for you. And aside from tasting great, they also always looked amazing.
To summarize it, the blond man loved to cover you in little treats of all kinds aside from being a sweetheart at all times, especially to you.
Loving him back just as much, you wanted to do something for him. You already had in the past, multiple times. But today, you wanted to try something extra special. You wanted to cook something for him.
You decided to go with a fairly simple menu: fried rice and a chocolate-pear cake. Exceptionally, you had managed to chase Sanji out of the kitchen. Not like you actually had to push him out though, asking him with a cute pout had been enough.
You had started by baking the cake, thinking you could leave it in the oven while you would cook the rice. So that is what you did! The chocolate paste hadn’t been difficult to make, neither had it been to peal the pears. Pushing the whole thing in the oven or pulling it back out was easy obviously and about halfway through the fried rice, the timer you had set for the pastry had gone off. You pulled the pan off the stove and kneeled in front of the oven. It looked just right!
Not waiting any longer, you pulled the cake out with a towel and let it rest on the counter, hastily going back to the main dish.
After a few more minutes, the rice was done. The process had gone fairly smoothly in the end, aside from a constant fear of burning down the kitchen. You tasted it still... It obviously wasn’t as good as Sanji’s cooking but you doubted you would be able to do any better. You hoped he would like it nevertheless and served a plate for him.
Taking a deep breath to calm down, you called your boyfriend into the kitchen. His face lit up as soon as his eyes laid onto the table. There, the fried rice was waiting for him along with a small glass of red wine. Sanji smiled at you brightly and pulled you into a hug, thanking you in the process.
He sat down and you did the same, right by his side. You’d by lying if you said you weren’t nervous. Sanji seemed to pick up on it and gave you a reassuring smile before saying: “It smells amazing, Y/N!”
You felt your heartbeat pick up but thanked him for the compliment.
Sanji thanked you for the meal and dove right into it. You couldn’t do anything but wait expectantly as he swallowed the first spoonful.
“Hmmm...”
You noticed your boyfriend’s eyes were closed. Time seemed to have slowed down as you were waiting for his opinion.
That is when his eyes sprung back open.
“Y/N!” the sudden mention of your name startled you. “This is really good! You did great, my love!”
It was obvious how happy and excited Sanji was.
“We should cook together in the future!” he suggested excitedly.
You felt you cheeks get hot but agreed to it.
Sanji emptied his plate quickly, a smile never leaving his features and making sure to compliment your cooking between every few bites. It made you happy to see him like this and it warmed your heart to know you had been the cause. To you, Sanji only deserved the best and you couldn’t wait to cook for him again or to do it with him when you saw how it made the man feel.
Once his plate was empty, you stood up to pull it away, but not before he kissed you.
“There’s still dessert,” you pointed out.
“Ohhh!” declared Sanji excitedly. “Do you want any help, darling?”
“No, you stay right here,” you ordered with a small smile.
The blond cook lifted his hands in defense.
“Okay, then! I’m not leaving my seat!” He joked. “If you need my help, let me know though.”
You told him you’d keep it in mind but that you should be fine.
Walking into the kitchen, you discarded the empty plate in the sink. Afterwards, you picked out two clean ones. You placed the bigger one over the cake mold. Grabbing them both, you swiftly turned them the other way around, so the plate would now be underneath. You could feel the cake slowly slipping out of the mold. Carefully, you lifted it but your efforts were useless.
You hadn’t expected it in the slightest bit but there it was. The cake was into pieces. You didn’t know why it broke like this. There was no reason for it to be so frail, it had looked great and sturdy when you had taken it out of the oven!
Gulping, you started slicing a piece. The disaster just kept going. The slice barely kept together and you knew that any other piece of cake would end up just the same.
Against better judgement, you walked back to your boyfriend and quietly admitted there wouldn’t be any dessert.
“Why is that, my love?” he asked softly.
“It’s breaking apart,” you explained.
Sanji offered you a warm smile before standing up.
“Let me have a look at it!”
Before you could disagree, the blond cook had already entered the kitchen. You walked in after him to find him analyzing the slice you had left on the counter. His brows were furrowed.
“Did you leave it in the mold after taking it out of the oven?” he asked gently.
You nodded.
“Ah, that was your mistake,” he declared with a sympathetic smile. “You should almost always unmold a cake or pie as soon as possible, other way it becomes moist and sticky.”
You nodded understandingly and said you’ll remember for later.
“But,” Sanji continued, surprising you, “I think we should still eat it, don’t you?”
Hesitantly, you answered: “I mean, I don’t know if it will be any good?”
The blond man smiled at you: “Considering what I just ate, I’m sure this cake won’t be bad.”
As if to prove his point, he picked up a small fork from the drawer in front of him and dived right in. His eyes closed and a hum left his lips.
Reopening his eyes, Sanji turned to you.
“Have you tasted this, love?”
You nodded in negation.
“Come here,” he requested.
The cook asked you to open your mouth and fed you a spoonful of cake. You had to admit it wasn’t too bad, but then again, nothing comparable to Sanji’s cooking.
“It’s good, isn’t it?” he asked you excitedly.
His smile only grew wider as you nodded shyly.
“We should let the others try it as well!” he suggested. “Except the marimo, he doesn’t deserve to taste it,” the blond grumbled under his breath.
You called him out while laughing and he offered you a wholehearted smile.
“Thank you, Y/N,” said Sanji, more calm suddenly. A breathy laugh escaped him. “I’m so thankful to have you in my life.”
You walked the small distance that still separated you and hugged him. Sanji nuzzled his nose in your neck.
“I’m thankful to have you in my life,” you whispered.
A soft peck was placed on your neck and you could feel your boyfriend smile against your skin. The two of you stayed like this a while longer, eyes closed, enjoying the moment. It was calm, soft, loving.
You felt Sanji’s breath against your neck until he moved away the slightest bit.
“Now let’s make everyone taste the delicious cooking of my favourite person.”
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! <3

The Villainous Paranoiac Goes To Jail and Ninja Afterlife
Two innocent children get sent to Night Raven College
Tumblr media
A set of scenarios about three of my ocs unwittingly trading places for two days, non-canon to any of my AUs
Swap 1:
Yuu—> Konohagakure
Yuu wakes up with a tantō to the throat.
Chie: Tell me where my daughter is and I’ll make your death quick
Yuu promptly freaks the fuck out
Through a combination of panicked yelling and tears the Prefect manages to convey to the Ketsugi that if there was a kidnapping, Yuu is both uninvolved and as much as of a victim as their precious daughter
Gai confirms that the strange teenager not only has no chakra, but clearly has little to no combat training despite his(?) athleticism, meaning Mayu-chan could easily overpower an assailant of this size, especially one this undernourished!
Yuu tries not to be offended and to avoid staring at Gai and Lee’s eyebrows they’re so big
Promptly shrieks when Kami!Sanji materializes to confirm that the Paranoiac had nothing to do with Mayu’s disappearance as far as the other gods can tell
Yuu becomes convinced that this place is the afterlife
The sad part is that Chie and Jirou can’t actually say much to the contrary, because??? Their daughter remembers dying before she came here?? Also there are active deities just floating around so.
Actually tears up at the homemade meals the Ketsugi provide
Before being sick as a dog later because food infused with chakra? Does not agree with a person without a chakra regulatory system
Surprisingly patient with Lee and any questions he has the purity of Jack and Deuce is strong in this one
Bit more long-suffering towards Naruto and his rendition of Wonderwall. Sunshine child too bright, introvert Yuu can’t handle it
Keeps writing down everything everyone says
This makes ANBU and ROOT very twitchy
The Paranoiac is quietly slated for “interview” at T&I the next day
Yuu crashes on the Ketsugi couch none the wiser
Mayu—> Nanba
Mayu wakes up to confused screaming and profanity.
It’s Hani.
It’s very rare for screaming not to be because of Hani
All he knows is one child was in this bed last night, and now’s there’s a different one dressed like it came straight out of Ninja Kamikaze???
Mayu for her part is both very alarmed to be waking up in a prison cell with two strange men and very glad she has her bokken with her
Kiji comes in to find his beautiful inmates being menaced by a twelve year old with a wooden sword
The twelve year old is winning
Once Mayu has ascertained that they aren’t enemy ninja and she’s somehow in her old world (?) she becomes much more cooperative with the guards
She’s very worried about how she’s going to get back to her family in Konoha
Also wondering if she should try to contact her former little brother Harp (who knows if she’ll ever get the chance again?)
These worries are not assuaged when the Warden informs her that there’s no records proving “Tamara Kaur” ever existed
For lack of any relations who they can contact to take the child off their hands, and because they have no idea how she successfully infiltrated the most secure prison in the world and replaced one of the inmates, the Warden decides to keep Mayu in Nanba’s holding cells until further notice
Guess who finds the samurai child while breaking out?
Nico, Uno, and Rock are amazed at the existence of a real live Japanese Samurai! With a katana and everything!!
Jyugo just asks straight out if Mayu’s an actor too
Mayu is very bemused by everything, but they seem friendly! The one with the mohawk likes food too!
Plus the blonde one is British! Just like she used to be!
Uno is very confused about how a twelve year old somehow lost her citizenship
Break Mayu out to get food together
They get caught the moment they set foot in the cafeteria and scolded very harshly
Mayu has trouble sleeping in a cell cot that night
Nana—> Night Raven College
Nana’s first instinct on waking up in a strange bed next to a monster is to assume he’s been kidnapped and attempt to subdue his captors
Which means Grim wakes up to an attempted smothering
The ghosts hear muffled screaming and rush in only to get salt and iron filings to the face. Nana actually has them all on the run when Crowley bursts in
Instantly becomes a confused and lost child in front of the headmaster and dorm heads
Only Grim and the ghosts know the truth, and their complaints are overlooked due to them “scaring the poor boy”
No one has any idea what to do with a thirteen year old magicless kid. It was hard enough with Yuu, and the Prefect was at least sixteen and could attend classes!
Nana adapts quickly to the idea of being in this new world— he’s just sad he couldn’t say goodbye to Kiji, Hani-senpai and Trois-senpai before leaving Nanba
Immediately resolves to leave NRC at the earliest possible convenience when he gets a good look at the Theory Wall— he can’t even read Japanese but that amount of crazy that it signifies always spells trouble
Is confused by all the pictures of Disney villains on the Theory Wall, but decides it’s not worth the trouble to ask about
Actually uses the beauty products Vil left for Yuu correctly
Gets semi-adopted into Pomefiore after asking Vil where the high quality products came from
Grim and the ghosts aren’t sorry to see the little brat go
Vil carts him around to test his potential in the performance arts
Epel tries to be a good senpai for the kid, and tells him he doesn’t have to just go along with Vil
Nana appreciates the effort, but does find this kind of thing more fun than being on his own he’s homesick for his cell
Rook enjoys seeing the child freeze up minutely whenever he asks about the prison attire and the large “7” tattoo on the back of the boy’s head
Nana likes Rook less and less with every pointed question the vice dorm leader makes
Can’t sleep in the big cushy Pomefiore bed and so curls up on the floor with a pillow instead
Swap 2:
Yuu—> Nanba
What why is Yuu in jail now
The prefect was supposed to be back home/in Ramshackle Dorm, why is Yuu in jail now—
Yuu is stressed and overdue for Grim snuggles
Paranoiac is also not thrilled about being stuck in Building Three— it’s like Pomefiore on steroids
At least Epel and Vil don’t steal and obsess over the underwear of their “fans”
Rook...the jury’s still out. But probably not. Probably
Maybe
Hopefully
Much less cooperative than Mayu.
Questions about the Prefect’s family name are met with a stony glare. “It’s Yuu. Just Yuu. How many times do I have to repeat myself?”
Can’t answer any questions about Mayu or her current whereabouts despite admitting to knowing of the girl, but does posit a theory about the three of them transmigrating and swapping places based on the information gained in Konoha
Gets offended and even less cooperative when the interrogating guard calls the hypothesis “crazy”
Not intimidated by Hajime or the other guards in the slightest. Yuu’s classmates are far more likely to inflict lasting bodily harm and it’s hard for even the worst human glare to measure up to Floyd or Leona on a bad day
The Warden scares the Prefect though
Doesn’t stop Yuu from requesting a lawyer or other legal counsel before submitting to further questioning
The Paranoiac is a Japanese citizen and has made a point to know what the applicable legal rights for this situation are
Yuu ends up in the holding cells
Guess who hasn’t learned their lesson while breaking out?
Uno takes one look at Yuu
“Ah Jyugo, this one has your energy”
Nico loudly asks if the Prefect is from an isekai and died and reincarnated in Nanba??! Do they die over and over again and revive to beat bad guys?? Do they have an amazing cheat skill?? Are they a spider?? Can they shoot a beam??
Yuu just thinks. Ah. So this is what would happen if Kalim and Idia somehow had a kid
Don’t break the Prefect out, but Jyugo comes back later and deposits something through the bars
“This is Kuu. He’s a guard, but he’s also really good when you’re lonely. You look like you could use the company”
Yuu blinks and holds out a hand for the black cat with a guard cap to sniff
Crashing in a cell cot is uncomfortable, but hey, at least there’s a cat to pet
Mayu—> Night Raven College
Why is there a tanuki in her bed?
Grim isn’t waking up by being murdered but being poked with a stick by another smol child isn’t much better
Mayu is Concerned by the Theory Wall
“Is— is the person who lives here okay?”
Grim: Hell if I know
Mayu’s even more Concerned when she opens the fridge and sees it’s bare
>:|
Sanji wouldn’t let these people go hungry, so she’s not going to either!
Searches until she finds the Prefect’s grocery money and marches with Grim to Mr. S’s Mystery Shop
Everyone is confused by the presence of a new preteen on campus after the last one vanished from Pomefiore during the night
Mayu’s used to haggling with market people who would rather see her starve than even sell her the worst of their produce, so she’s easily able to barter Sam down to a third of the price for the groceries she wants to buy
Sam’s more amused by the guts of this tiny samurai devil than anything
Mayu and Grim drag all the food back by themselves with a few students following from a distance out of curiosity
They all soon enter Ramshackle once the smells of cooking begin to emerge from the dorm
Silver first followed because the child has a sword and is now helping to knead dough
Epel arrived because he had questions about where Nana had gone, but Mayu is genuinely clueless so now he’s peeling apples for lack of anything better to do
Mayu soon has several “helpers” for making bread and other easy-to-preserve and mix-and-match bulk meals to fill the Ramshackle fridge, though she soon has to send Grim out for more ingredients when her helpers begin getting hungry
The night ends with a feast that can rival the quality of food served at Kalim’s parties
Mayu finds one of Yuu’s blank notebooks and writes down some easy recipes the Prefect can use for all the food now in the fridge and pantry, with emphasis on fish based dishes
The ghosts and Grim enjoy having Mayu much more than Nana
Mayu still has trouble sleeping in the big Ramshackle bed that night
Nana—> Konohagakure
Well this isn’t Nanba or Night Raven College
Welp. Time to go then.
Nana is halfway out of Konoha before anyone notices
Gai does notice because a strange kid in a prison jumpsuit swiftly scurrying to the exit sticks out like a sore thumb in the early morning
ANBU’s search for the vanished Yuu is the only reason Nana isn’t stopped by them
Nana tries to run
Nothing can outrun the Beautiful Green Beast of Konoha
Nana is now more than slightly traumatized
Gets carted off to early morning training with Naruto and Lee
Is initially more interested in plotting yet another escape attempt until Lee mentions Yuu and NRC—then he’s curious about what information he can glean about the two other members of this triad
Especially interested in the concept of reincarnating into another world or being brought there by an outside force rather than moving between worlds freely
Eats an almost alarming amount for his size at breakfast that morning and leaves nothing on his plate
Unfailingly well-mannered to his hosts
Offers more information about Mayu’s past world in payment for eating the Ketsugi’s food and waking up in their home after they refuse to let him pay them back using manual labor
Asks them to tell him what they already know so he can work out what knowledge gaps to fill in
Nana: ...Why are you singing Wonderwall?
Takes it upon himself to teach Lee and Naruto more English so they can at least form basic sentences
It’s an uphill battle because predicates and participles are hard
A supportive and encouraging if slightly inept teacher
Soon realizes Chie somehow knows all the swearwords and glares at him for trying to teach them to the boys
Also falls ill from eating chakra-infested food
Gets twitchier as the day goes on and asks to leave the village several times, insisting he can’t impose on their hospitality any longer
Only agrees to sleep on the couch once Jirou subtly implies that at least people will notice and go looking if he goes missing from their house compared to if he disappeared from a tree miles away from Konoha
Can’t sleep on the couch due to jumping at noises during the night, ends up curling up on the floor next to it

comfort food
[I was writing some short prompt drabbles just for fun, but this one took on a life of its own and grew into a full oneshot, so here’s some post-Wano Tama and Sanji, recovering. TW for disordered eating- also on AO3 here.]
Tama’s mouth wouldn’t stop watering.
She was perched on the counter that ran along the back of the narrow galley, watching as Sanji cooked. She swallowed hard to stop herself from drooling, but couldn’t drag her eyes away from the pan bubbling on the stove, slow-searing something in preparation for lunch, more than half an hour away still.
The smell, sweet and savory all at once, seemed to reach all the way down to her stomach and squeeze, and a little whimper escaped her lips despite her best efforts. Which was stupid, she’d had breakfast only a couple hours ago, she couldn’t be hungry again already-
Sanji glanced back at her at the sound, and a flicker of an expression she couldn’t read crossed his face before he smiled. “You really like hanging out in here, huh?”
“Ah- yeah!” she said, smiling back, just a little shaky. “It’s…” -reassuring, it’s so reassuring, there’s so much food, all the time- “…it smells nice,” she finished lamely, ducking her head. “And… I like watching you cook.”
“Yeah?” Sanji pulled a small pot down from the overhead shelves, filling it with water and tossing a few ingredients in (so much food-) before setting it on an empty burner and starting the heat. “Are you interested in cooking?”
“Um…” Tama said slowly, because- how could she say it wasn’t really the cooking she was interested in but the food, the idea of being able to make food, and eat it, whenever, just because she was hungry- “Kind of?”
Sanji gave her that look she couldn’t read again, then turned back to the stove. “You know,” he said, “I grew up in a kitchen like this one, working in a restaurant. Started when I was just about your age. My old man ran the place.” She could see him smile in profile. “I used to spend hours just watching him cook. Before long he started talking me through what he was doing, and then having me copy him,” he said.
“Your dad?” Tama asked, curious. It was strange, to think of the pirates having once been as young as her. They were all seemed so strong, so old- not small and weak and hungry.
Sanji grinned down at the pan. “Yeah,” he said. “He’s a tough old bastard.”
A timer went off on the stove, and Sanji was all at once in motion again, rearranging pots and grabbing for utensils. Tama watched his back, fascinated- though her main interest in the galley was the food, the smell and the comfort of it, she always admired the smooth effortlessness with which he handled himself when he was cooking, like every move he made was one he’d done a thousand times before.
Without warning, a steaming bowl was pushed into her hands. She blinked blankly down at it- broth, simple and hot and delicious and full of little chunks of vegetables and meat, a spoon resting ready against the lip- then up at Sanji.
“You’re hungry, right?” he said, glancing around from where he was already back to poking at the pan with a spatula. “Eat that.”
Tama flushed, cheeks going hot with shame. She couldn’t believe she’d been so obvious, so ungrateful when she was eating more food now daily than she used to in a month, in a year. “I- n-no, I’m fine, I just had breakfast, I’m not hungry, really-“ she stammered, holding the bowl out and ducking her head to keep from looking at it.
She was so hungry, but-
A gentle hand pushed the bowl back towards her. “Oi, none of that. Rules on this ship are, if you’re hungry, you eat. And don’t try to tell me you’re not.”
Tama hesitated, hands clenching around the small wooden bowl. “But I shouldn’t be,” she said weakly. “I’m eating so much now- every day-“ she trailed off, curling around the bowl slightly and staring down at the floor. “Why’m I still so hungry?”
Sanji was quiet for a moment, then turned a dial down on the stove and turned around fully to look at her. “When your body spends a lot of time very hungry,” he said slowly, leaning back against the stove and folding his arms, “it gets used to not having food. So when you do get food, your body gets scared it won’t last. It starts telling you to eat everything you can while you can, even if you’ve just eaten. It’s not your fault, just something that happens.”
“So…” Tama started, stopped, wet her lips, tried again, “How… how do you…  stop it?”
“You eat,” Sanji said firmly, prodding at the bowl still cradled against her chest. “Whenever you’re hungry. Eventually your body learns there’ll always be food there when you do need it. Broth is perfect because it fills you up, but you can eat a lot of it without getting sick. I can teach you how to cook it sometime, but in the meantime, just ask whenever and I’ll whip something up.”
“But… I don’t want to…” Tama stared down at the bowl. It was still letting off faint wisps of steam. “You’re already giving me so much-”
“Listen,” Sanji said, and waited until she hesitantly lifted her head to look at him to say, “I’m the cook on this ship. It’s my job to make sure nobody goes hungry. Including you. So you let me know when you’re hungry, whenever, and let me do my job and feed you. Okay?”
Tama nodded, a little jerkily. The spoon was still waiting patiently in the bowl. She picked it up and scooped up a spoonful of broth, shoving it into her mouth before the shame could freeze her hands.
It was delicious, because of course it was, and in moments she was jerking the bowl up to her mouth and gulping the contents down, spoon clattering forgotten to the counter. All too soon it was empty; Sanji wordlessly took it from her hands, ladeled another serving out of the pot on the stove, and passed it back to her.
She was halfway through her third bowl before she managed to slow down long enough to realize she was crying, fat tears rolling down her cheeks, dripping to the galley floor and splashing into her mostly-empty bowl. She sniffled, embarrassed, and scrubbed at her eyes with her sleeves.
“Good?” Sanji asked, once she’d composed herself enough to look up at him again. He was grinning.
Tama nodded, still wiping at her face. “Uh-huh.” She held the empty bowl out, bowing her head. “Thank you very very much.”
“Anytime. I mean it,” Sanji said, taking the bowl and setting it in the sink.
Tama nodded, sniffling again, because she could tell he did mean it, that she could shake him awake in the middle of the night and he’d still be more than happy to make her something to eat, and that certainty nearly reduced her to tears all over again.
Sanji was rearranging the counter, moving plates and ingredients around. Tama watched, uncomprehending, until he finished clearing a space beside the oven and gestured for her to come over.
“Come on, if you’re gonna watch me cook you’ll get a better view from over here,” he said. “It’s yakisoba for lunch. You can keep an eye on the meat here for me while I get started on the noodles.”
Tama sniffled and wiped at her eyes a final time, then nodded hard and slid off of her perch, padding across the narrow galley to Sanji’s side. He easily picked her up and set her on the counter, giving her a full view of his workspace. There was meat still sizzling in the pan, and a huge pot full of water just beginning to boil on another burner.
“You start with the meat, with yakisoba, because you can do it while you’re waiting for the water to boil for the noodles,” Sanji explained, “and because it doesn’t have to still be hot at the end, but the noodles do. You need a lot of water because it’s a lot of noodles- especially when cooking for this crew- and they get bigger as they boil, so it takes longer.”
Tama nodded along, legs swinging as she watched. The galley was bright with sunlight and warm with the sound and smell of meat sizzling on the stove. Sanji shoveled the noodles into the boiling water by the handful, talking her through how not to break them and how to figure serving size.
For once, she didn’t feel hungry.

So I seem to remember promising more Sora: Warrior Of The Sea Beach Episode. And by "seem to remember" I mean, it's in writing and thus hard to ignore. So despite the fact that none of you care, guess what? You're getting more of this ZoLaw AU.
First off, every member of the cast and crew understands the purpose of a beach episode: to waste time at the beach. Which means that everyone pulls up with swim trunks, blankets, grills and umbrellas. They are basically there to have a beach vacation.
I say everyone. Not Law. Law does not come prepared to party, he comes prepared to be pissy. But like everyone else (Yes, even Mihawk. Though technically only due to Shank's influence. Shanks forces him is what I'm saying. "Hey, even Beckmen is joining in the fun!" / "Benn always joins in these ridiculous games." / "What? My Beckmen? No! He's usually so mature and serious." / "He only seems that way compared to you. Because you are a child.")
The resulting shoot is pretty much pure chaos. Perona and Hancock are more interested in sunbathing than acting. Killer is kicking everyone's ass at volleyball. Franky and Ace are having a grill off to see who makes the better hamburgers and hot dogs (Sanji would totally win except that Pudding-Chan is right there and in a bikini and look, at some point it's difficult to care about things that aren't that.) Zoro and Luffy, meanwhile, are pretty much exactly the children you expect them to be, much to Robin's amusement. Look, she wrote a scene where Sora and Daichi "play wrestle" in the sea, but it has nothing on the actual thing. Because Zoro can often be oblivious and because, you know, Luffy she is sure they don't mean for it to look so homoerotic. It's just a shame Nami isn't here to capitalize on this. She could definitely sell Zoro pinning Luffy to the sand or Luffy wrapping around Zoro like he's made of rubber for more than a few quid.
Law is not enjoy this shoot.
Even when Benn finally gains enough control to start getting actual work done (you'd be surprised how authoritative Mihawk can be even in purple swim trunks) it soon becomes clear that this is going to be a longer than normal shoot. Not because the logistics, just people are not even trying. Ace will just start smiling in the middle of a scene where he shouldn't be smiling, and because Zoro really takes his cues on acting from Ace he'll immediately start smiling regardless of the line. Then Sanji will get angry with them both, which Pudding will think is adorable, thus leading to Sanji forgetting the script entirely to pay attention to her. Perona will tell Zoro off and get too close in his face, which will make Luffy jump in to "protect his virtue" (on order from Nami) which will make Boa jealous because how dare another woman be so close to her Luffy. Which will make Ace and Zoro annoyed which will make Robin giggle, which will distract Franky which will ultimately lead to the effects not working like they should, which will cause Shachi, Penguin, and Ikkaku to huddle up (definitely not them just laying on the sand and enjoying the day out) which of course gets Shanks and Mihawk's attention. Shanks tries to separate Perona and Luffy while Mihawk gives Zoro and Ace The Look which, despite his still authoritative aura is SLIGHTLY less effective when he's standing there in just swim trunks. Curse Shanks. So in the end, with a heavy sigh, he has to go train instruct Zoro in what he should actually be doing in the scene which somehow ends up with his hands at Zoro's bare waist as he goes through it all yet again.
Law HATES this. Fucking. Shoot.
Which is why he is so close to just leaving, as per Robin's suggestion. They don't need him there. Clearly. They can all get along quite well without him. It's obvious now that Law's real job is babysitting and at this particular location all attempts to be an adult are fruitless.
So Law is all set to leave but then Zoro gets out of the ocean, dripping wet, and heads towards his drink which Law happens to be standing beside. Not watching. Definitely. If anything, glaring. And he tries to keep glaring out at Luffy and Ace messing around as Zoro takes a nice long drink, eyes clearly focused on Law.
Which isn't distracting.
Zoro: Aren't you hot?
Law: *Takes a second to process what that actually means, covering by his continued glare* These are work appropriate clothes, Zoro-ya. Not all of us have forgotten why we're here.
Zoro: *Snorts* RIght. You can't be seen having fun, isn't that so Torao?
Law: *Turning his glare towards Zoro which is maybe a mistake because skin and water and mouth and eyes* I'm only being practical.
Zoro: That sounds boring *Reaching out to grab the end of Law's shirt* You should come have fun with us, Torao. You might even enjoy it. *Sideways smirk that is far too dangerous in nature, anyone with self preservation instincts would run*
Law: *Doesn't run* I… *Is older than Zoro and more experienced than Zoro and always the one to make suggestive comments to Zoro so how is it Zoro has currently got his hands wrapped in Law's shirt while Law seems unable to speak?* I didn't even bring-
Zoro: *Stepping closer, raising Law's shirt up a few inches to show his intent* It's just the crew, it's not like anyone will care.
Law: It wouldn't be very appropriate, Zoro-ya…. *Come on! He's half stripping you down! Be flirty or clever or mysterious or hell just step back and make him stop if you can't come off as at least competent. What the hell is wrong with you? Fuck, he's so close. And there's this trail of water falling from his hair to his lips. Fuck.*
Zoro: Look around. No one here is trying to be "appropriate" Torao. *Steps closer, feeling safe. Feeling cocky. Today has been all sword fights with Killer and sea fights with Luffy and Ace. Can you blame him for being in a good mood? And Law needs to join in, obviously. He's standing up here on the beach looking so miserable and serious. What he needs is to be dragged into the water and force to actually have some fun.* Unless…. *Cocks his head, looking Law over* You can swim, can't you?
Law: I - *It'd be nice if he could swallow right now because it definitely feels like he's going to start drooling. That damn water is curving up on the underside of Zoro's lower lip and he's so close. Law could lap that up for him. Could pin Zoro down and just….*
Zoro: *Beaming* It's alright. Luffy can barely swim, either. *Nods out to the water where currently Luffy is splashing around, riding on Ace's shoulders*
Law: *Eyes go to Luffy and Ace for once second and when he looks back Zoro seems so much closer.*
Zoro: *Still smiling even as he starts to peel off Law's shirt* Come on. *Tugging him by the arm, despite the fact he's still in his jeans and no wait he didn't agree to this!* We'll go together.
Law: *Manages to get Zoro to stop long enough to peel off his jeans so he's down to his boxers, which Zoro flushes at and isn't that what he meant? He can't be so inexperienced. Fuck, Law just wants to ruin this boy, he really does. But then Zoro is back to shoving him towards the sea, happily announcing to Ace and Luffy that he has a fourth and what does that even mean? What has Law gotten himself into?*
It turns out to be an overly competitive game of chicken (both Ace and Zoro really take it far too seriously while Luffy is clearly there for fun but also will break Law's nose if it comes down to it). Which means Law has his legs wrapped around Zoro, whose hands are curled up around his thighs and this could not get any worse.
He thinks.
Totally unaware that Robin has her phone out and is capturing this entire magical moment. And when Franky sits beside her asking why she's filming them fighting she just gets this smile that makes him want to unask because he knows Robin.
Mihawk has to eventually call the boys out to shoot a scene. He stands at the edge of the water with his typically displeased look. Law would feel so much more ashamed if Zoro hadn't chosen to just drop him slightly so Law's legs are wrapped around his waist, and carried him out of the water like that. Law tries to give his boss an apologetic look but it's difficult when he's so wrapped around Zoro, and Zoro's hands keep finding new places on his legs to hold him up. (And maybe Mihawk shouldn't look at actors who work for him that way. And maybe Mihawk should spend less time instructing Zoro. And maybe Mihawk can go to hell because Law has called dibs on this one. This one is his.)
(Also, thank you for this opportunity, Mihawk-san)
(Also, did Zoro really need to flash that smile at Mihawk? Did Mihawk's face just soften slightly? Isn't he like twice Zoro's age? He should really-)
Then Zoro drops him on the sand, and he's leaning over Law, practically on top of him. All other thoughts basically stop.
Zoro: *Beaming* See? Wasn't that better than just sitting around?
Law: *Forgets how breathing works for just a moment, and is way too out of breath by the time he recalls the process. So his mind goes into default Defensive Mode. He frowns* You just wanted a chance to beat Mugiwara-ya.
Zoro: Well… *Shrugs, like obviously. That isn't really the point, is it? Since he chose Law?* You did well Torao. For a beginner.
Law: *Crossing his arms across his chest, which is difficult with Zoro right there. Looks to the side, determined not to give a single inch* I don't like being used Zoro-ya.
Zoro: Right. *Frowns, pushing away from Law* It was Luffy's suggestion anyway.
Law: *Carefully glancing back* What was?
Zoro: *No longer looking at Law* To come get you. Tch. Like I would ever want to pair up with you, Torao. *Pushes off the sand, stalking off towards Mihawkk and the shoot*
Law: *Pushes himself up onto his elbows, watching Zoro go. Can't help feeling like he really messed up.*
Robin: Perhaps you should be more careful with our stuntman's feelings.I suggest next time you be more honest with him.
Law: *Doesn't jump at Robin's sudden appearance next to him. Totally.* There won't be a next time. This is a pointless waste of an episode and the studio will see that.
Law: *As an afterthought* And I was honest.
Robin: *Sets a hand on Law's shoulder in a quiet moment of commiseration*
Also Robin: I have it all on tape if you wish to watch it back. *Leaves*
Law: *Hates this fucking episode*
Law: ….. *Maybe wants to examine that tape.*

[rational catchy title hiding that the true meaning of this post is just an excuse for me to talk about my weird ass dreams]
i have had three dreams about one piece in the past three nights and i feel like i’m going a little insane considering i usually never dream so i’m shoving them all into this post. and if i dream more i’m gonna reblog this with the new dreams.
1: ZoSan | 2: apocalyptic one piece meets sonic meets inuyasha | 3: one piece meets age of calamity
dream one: literally just ZoSan. that’s it. stupidly soft. it was mid afternoon, the crew was all lazing about out on deck, i decided i wanted a snack so i made for the kitchen, but heard both their voices in the kitchen so i paused at the door. they were in the kitchen alone, sanji was cutting veggies for dinner, zoro was leaning back against the counter, his elbows up on it all relaxed like. they were bickering & teasing each other, quietly laughing. (for those who don’t know one piece, zoro & sanji are always fighting.) then a quiet came over them and zoro inched a little closer just so that their shoulders were touching and sanji smiled and zoro looked so relaxed he could fall asleep right then and there. it’s very important to know that (1) just watching them chit chat and tease each other I Knew. (2) i also knew that this thing between them was obviously private and if they caught me they would both kick my ass, and knowing this i woke up.
dream two, arguably the weirdest: this one is going to take a bit of explaining. a lot of my dreams are storyline esq, except when i’m in the dream i already know the backstory, y’all don’t so i have to lay this out. it’s apocalyptic, like the world has ended, and inuyasha-esq monsters are free roaming over the dirt and ruins of civilization. eggman is the evil mastermind who brought this havoc to the world. all humans are dead, but if all their bones are still in tact, they’ll come back to life as a skeleton (think sans and papyrus). most bones are not in tact because the monsters eat them. brook, a strawhat pirate who is already a living skeleton, is alive and well, and all my bones landed together when i died and no monsters ate them, so i am also a living skeleton. brook and i are the only strawhats who survived, but we’re determined to collect the bones of our friends to bring them back (so we can defeat eggman?). brook and i have recruited the help of sonic and co. (knuckles, tails, shadow, maybe others) to brave the perilous ruins (think elephant graveyard from lion king) to rescue our crewmates’ bones from the monsters. sonic & co. were unaffected by the apocalypse bc they’re not human. i have also somehow developed the ability to run very fast, like sonic fast. note about the bones: they all glow a certain color based on who they belong to. i think only brook and i could see this, or we could only see the strawhats’ bones, or something. anyway. all this was backstory.
the dream begins as we launch our rescue mission at the ruins. eggman is in hot pursuit. monsters are crawling eveywhere. brook slides down a huge bone, like a gigantic elephant husk, and veers away to the side, out of sight. i take off in a sprint, sonic is nearby, and i’m ducking under massive, house-sized bones and ruins and twisting away from monsters. i spot two glowing blue boots and grab them. (i don’t know how to explain this, other than that the boots were nami’s bones, and i had to have the full pair to bring nami back.) i then see one glowing red boot (luffy’s), and two glowing green boots (zoro’s). i am running at 50 mph and i am balancing five boots in my arms. sonic joins me at my side, and i grin, and we’re about to retreat, and then zoro’s boot comes loose from its precarious balance and flies behind me, back into the monster pit, but we can’t stop or we’re going to get caught.
i turn, and i see brook, standing victoriously on another ridiculously sized elephant husk, and he’s holding up zoro’s second greet boot. in his other arm is a second red boot. i grin, everybody reunites, and eggman curses us to hell and back as we retreat to the safety of our hideout (a suped up cave, i think). we’re going to revive nami, luffy, and zoro, and with half of our crew back with us, we’ll go back out and get the rest of our crew, and we’ll help sonic defeat eggman. we’ll win. knowing this, i woke up.
dream three: the strawhats and i are in a major battle. basically like a full scale war, drawn out over a humongous map. we are badly, badly outnumbered, but we’re strong. we’re all scattered across all corners of the map with our own enemies. i can barely see sanji’s silhouette over the horizon, and besides that, i’m alone. the earth is rattling with bombs and cannons falling like rain. somehow none of these projectiles hit any of us, and most of them fall too far away to worry about, but whenever they fall a little too close it’s so jarring that it feels like my skull has turned into a washing machine. by now i’ve finished off my section of the enemies, and i’m looking out at the horizon, the mountains, wondering where to even start. who do i help first? i don’t even know where anyone is. can we even win this? we’re strong, but there are so many enemies. then, zoro comes up beside me, presumably also finished with his enemies and has since found me. he doesn’t look even the slightest bit worried. instead, he’s got a little grin, and his swords are sheathed but his eyes are itching to get back in the fight. both of us look to where we can see sanji, doing just fine on his own despite being outnumbered 100 to 1. in the distance we can hear luffy’s yell, can see the thunderclouds form over a valley from nami’s clima-tact. “well,” zoro tells me, “we might as well go help those idiots.” and he starts to walk on ahead, leisurely as ever. i smile and start walking to catch up. i know that, despite the odds, we’re going to win, because losing simply in the cards for us. we’re the strawhat pirates; we don’t lose. knowing this, i woke up.

Luffy’s Birthday (One-shot)
Hey, so, I remembered at the last minute that it’s Luffy’s birthday today, and considering my OC is related to him, I realized it’s a great opportunity to do a Hazel-centric one-shot! Woo! This isn’t canon to the fic, since technically Luffy’s birthday has already passed in canon, but if I had to place it on a timeline I’d say it takes place after Loguetown but before Reverse Mountain! This is mostly just me playing around with Eldest Daughter/Makeshift Mom feelings and how things might change when it’s no longer just them. Also it was a great opportunity to practice writing, both in general and more of the crew and Hazel’s interactions. Anyway, I’m rambling, so I’ll leave it at this: I hope you enjoy! And if you’re new and you want to see more of Hazel, check out my fic Together With Fruit on FF.Net and AO3!
Tumblr media
Hazel snuck her way into the boys’ cabin, stepping carefully on her toes to avoid waking anyone. It was barely dawn, the sun barely peeking over the horizon, and she could only imagine the scolding she’d get if she was too loud. Though, of course, none of these guys were nearly as terrifying as her roommate.
She crept up to her brother’s hammock, narrowly avoiding being tripped by a sleeping body - seriously, did Zoro sleep so heavily he didn’t notice when he fell out of bed? The swordsman gave a snort as she stepped over him, causing the girl to roll her eyes fondly, and she stood on her tiptoes to peer over the edge of Luffy’s hammock. She supposed being made of rubber had its advantages, such as not being uncomfortable even when twisted like a pretzel in sleep. Hazel allowed herself a moment to marvel at just how big he’d gotten over the years; how despite being left to raise him herself, somehow she’d kept him alive for this long. She glanced at the crew behind her, sans navigator, and felt warmth fill her at the sight of Luffy’s dream being realized.
They’d really made it.
“Happy birthday to you,” She sang softly, poking at her brother’s cheek in an effort to wake him up; just as she had every year before. The boy didn’t stir at first, so she continued, slightly louder and more forceful as she went. “Happy birthday, dear Luffy…” Finally, his nose twitched and his eyes scrunched before finally opening, peering blearily up at her as his brain caught up with his body. “Happy birthday to you…” Hazel finished, beaming at him as realization dawned on his face.
“IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!” Luffy shouted, throwing his hands in the air and grinning despite the subsequent thuds that followed. Hazel threw her head back and laughed as Luffy ignored the angry looks of his cabinmates, instead fixing his attention back on her. He leapt out of bed, grabbed her by the wrist, and dragged her out the door onto the deck, leaving their grumbling crewmates behind them.
“What the hell are you guys being so loud for?!” Came Nami’s yell as she rubbed at her eyes, exiting the girls’ cabin fully dressed despite being so rudely awoken. “Do you have any idea what time it...is…?” She trailed off, gaping at the sight of the Going Merry’s top deck in the early morning light.
Hazel had made good use of her time on watch the night before. Strung along the railings was rope she’d found in storage, decorated with makeshift candles and homemade confetti. She’d painstakingly drawn, cut, and colored paper versions of their jolly roger to pin up around the deck, complete with paper party hat additions, and every barrel of booze the crew had was currently on display. What really caught everyone’s attention, however, was the rather large cake sitting directly in the middle of the table, the one she dragged out of the galley overnight.
“Hazel...wha-? What is all this?” Nami asked, anger replaced with surprise, her expression mirrored on the others’ faces.
“It’s Luffy’s birthday,” The woman answered simply, beaming as their captain bounced around to gaze at the decorations. “Don’t worry, everything was made with supplies we already owned, and other than the paper, we can still reuse everything; so no money was involved.”
“That’s not-!”
“And don’t worry about the kitchen, Sanji! I made sure to clean up when I was done, and there’s still plenty of ingredients left for meals! Sorry, I forgot to ask if it was ok before making the cake!”
“Oh!~ Hazel-chan has nothing to apologize for!~” Sanji cooed, smitten as always with the older woman. “But, darling, you didn’t need to make it yourself. I gladly would have-”
“Oh, I couldn’t ask you to do that! It’s ok!” She cut him off, confusion crossing his and everyone else’s faces.
“You did all of this yourself?” Usopp asked, inspecting the makeshift candles. They were really just piles of melted wax with bits of frayed rope in the middle for a wick, remnants of candles that’d been nearly used up already.
“Yup!” She answered, beginning to feel a bit self conscious, especially as the boy quickly grabbed his bag, producing a tool to catch the melting wax. “I probably should’ve found something to put the wax in, sorry about that! I’ll fix it!”
“Hazel,” Zoro finally spoke up, giving her a look that instantly made her shut up. “You didn’t have to do any of this yourself, we would’ve helped you if you’d asked.”
“But…” She began to protest, feeling small under the scrutiny of her crew. “It’s tradition…”
Understanding dawned on their faces, and Nami threw her arm around the woman’s shoulder. “Well, you’re with us now! Time for some new traditions!” She gave Hazel a kind smile, and the violet-haired woman glanced around at the others’ faces. They were all giving her matching smiles, and deep down Hazel knew they were right.
She’d always just taken care of everything; whether it was food, decorations, or party games, it didn’t matter. No matter how it might fall short, her makeshift birthday parties were still better than not having one at all, and in all these years, Hazel had never once missed Luffy’s birthday.
But just because that’s what she was used to, didn’t mean it always had to be that way. She had people that could help now, with skills that far exceeded hers when it came to making things. Sanji could make a way nicer cake than her, and Usopp was always tinkering with things; maybe he would’ve had some cool ideas for how to decorate, not to mention his drawing skills far exceeded hers. Hell, she could’ve made Zoro do the heavy lifting, rather than nearly throwing out her back trying to heave that table out the door on her own. Maybe if she had asked, Nami would’ve even let her spend a little money on supplies.
“But…” But it was still hard to let go.
“Hazel-chan,” Sanji started, lighting his cigarette as Luffy began to shout about the cake. “Just because you get some help doesn’t mean you’re being replaced.” He smiled at her, sweetly, until his eyes morphed into hearts. “I’ll gladly let you into my kitchen any day!~”
“Oi,” Zoro warned, drawing the cook’s ire, but before the two could get into a fight, Hazel spoke up.
“You guys are right, sorry I didn’t include you,” She felt Nami squeeze her shoulder in a quick comforting gesture.
“Next time, we’ll all stay up late and help out,” the navigator assured her, drawing nods from the others.
“What are you guys still standing over there for?! Come on, there’s cake!!” Luffy shouted, annoyed and unaware of the heartfelt conversation that had just ensued. “Sanji! Birthday candles! Birthday candles!”
“Oi! I don’t care if it is your birthday; be patient, you animal!” The cook yelled, but retreated into the kitchen to look for some birthday candles anyway. The crew made their way over; most sat around the table, but Hazel and Zoro stayed behind to start serving booze to everyone.
“Really? It’s like 6 in the morning!” Nami protested, though there wasn’t much fire behind it.
“Who cares? We’re celebrating!” Zoro countered, chugging his glass while Hazel rolled her eyes, passing some around to the others.
“Yeah! Birthday! Birthday!” Luffy chanted, bouncing in his seat as Sanji placed the candles carefully and lit them. “Sanji! You’re gonna love this, Hazel’s cakes are the best!” Hazel was glad no one noticed her blushing. Oh wait, Zoro was smirking at her. She pinched his ear, causing him to wince and drop the look, and with a grin she turned back to the ceremony.
In the dawning light, the Straw Hat Pirates sang loud and boisterous, celebrating their captain’s birthday in a way that wouldn’t suggest they’d been rudely awoken not even an hour earlier. As the candles blew out and the cake was distributed, Luffy wrapped his rubbery limbs around his big sister, giving her a tight squeeze.
“We have a good crew,” He told her, grinning ear to ear. As she gazed across the deck at the people they’d met so far, she couldn’t help the matching grin that grew on her face.
“Yeah, we really do.”

Smoke Rings and Cigarettes [Chapter 2] Seldom What They Seem [Sanji Vinsmoke]
Tumblr media
Grimsdale is, or to be more precise, used to be a nice place to live.
Seven years ago, it was a famous market town; a place of wonder for tourists. Adella recalled a time – at the age of 9 – when the streets were filled with merchants – their booths lined H1 Rainey Way and spread as far as Herring Port. The smell of spice used to be so comforting to her. The townspeople would smile and welcome her to browse their imports while her father talked business. Grimsdale was a fairy land in the eyes of a youngster.
But nowadays, the town was a cesspit of disease and poverty. She honestly could barely stomach it. Her father would be so let down in the way his little town had turned out. And all because she let it get this bad.
Adella cast her eyes to the cobble street beneath her feet. The soles of her boots and the lower trim of her dress were caked in gutter filth. It was a pungent smell that even she could not wash out. She tried; her skin had friction burns and often Adella threw out and bought new clothes just to satisfy her strong desire to stay clean. It was a shame, because she honestly liked this dress.
“Auntie … I am real sorry.” Esme saw the distress in her eyes; she saw the disgust that crossed her face. Adella was not comfortable out in the open like this. It made the ten year old sad to put her into a situation where she’d have to leave the safe confines of her home, but she knew no one else would care. Her mother was a busy woman; it would tear her apart to know that Lee had been taken hostage by pirates.
Furthermore, Adella was the only one capable of keeping the town safe from pirates. She was the Witch of Grimsdale; the townspeople were scared of her.
“There is no reason for you to apologize. I would never hesitate to help you or Leland,” Adella explained. She faked a smile to raise her spirit. It seemed to help, because Esme dried her tears and reached for the writer’s hand. Adella took it.
They walked down H1 Rainey Way towards the port. In her gut Adella knew the pirates would take Leland back to their ship. The only port in town was Herring, and the only road to the port was Rainey Way. It led them directly through the center of town without impediments.
Normally this street was pretty active, but since it was still early most of the townspeople were either in bed or working at the saw house. Adella was grateful for this; she didn’t want a crowd to gather if the handoff went bad. They hesitantly walked down the dock until Adella saw it; a set of black flags swaying in the wind.
She could barely make out the design of their jolly roger, but she knew this had to be them. Adella led Esme across the gangplank and onto the deck. She noticed the grass even before treading onto it. Her soft eyes grew in curiosity. How did something like this exist on the ship? Was it real? How did it grow?
It swayed gently in the warm breeze and for a second Adella wanted to remove her worn out boots so not to ruin the lush green deck with Grimsdale muck.
She truly was in conflict with herself, up until a voice nearby called out to her; a loud and raspy voice that made her lurch in fear.
“That’s my hat. Give it back.”
The person in question leapt down from the upper deck and onto the grass in front of them – Esme cried in shock. He was quite short and wore clothes that were in her opinion too casual for Grimsdale standards. Was he really a pirate? He looked quite young.
Adella wasn’t sure. “Your captain, I need to speak with him.”
Her hold on Esme’s hand grew tense. She really did not like altercations, mainly because her powers were unrefined and chaotic. Adella had trained with it before, but not enough to reduce the damage it caused. If by chance this pirate didn’t listen, she was afraid that her power would destroy the only good part about this ship that she liked; the grass.
With a large smile, the dark haired pirate crossed his arms over his lean chest. “I’m the captain; Monkey D. Luffy.”
He leaned his head to the side and puckered a brow. “Erm … you want me for something?”
Is he being serious? She couldn’t tell. Beggars can’t be choosers though. “My name is Historia Adella. I came to make a trade with you. Lee – the little boy you kidnaped – for your crew’s belongings.”
Esme shook the burlap sack; the same burlap sack with the jolly roger on it. A bulb seemed to go off in his head, and Luffy pointed a finger at her.
“My hat. You were the one who stole my hat.” His excited voice scared Esme, for she squeaked and hid behind Adella. It also carried enough to alert the other members of the ship, because moments later a young woman with orange hair stomped out of the galley.
She clutched the railing and leaned over it as she yelled. “Keep it down, Luffy. We need to figure out where our things are, and all your yelling is making the kid scared.”
Does she mean Leland? Adella was relieved. She feared that he might have been put down, but upon overhearing her speak to the captain, she knew that Lee was alright.
“But Nami––
She interrupted him; teeth sharp and eyes red. “Don’t but Nami me. If we don’t get the log pose back, we’ll be stuck on this island until we can replace it, and none of us have the money for that.”
“As long as there’s enough to buy meat, then I don’t care. We can just sail without a log pose; that’s why you’re the navigator,” Luffy mentioned short of a clue.
Nami curled her arms beneath her chest, huffing in annoyance. “It’s great that you have so much faith in me, but I need a log pose to find the next island. And we need money to restock.”
Did he really just ignore me? Adella puffed out her cheeks – how rude. She cleared her throat and yelled over them. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but I really need to speak to the captain of this ship.”
Luffy glanced at her and again tilted his head, raising his brow in uncertainty. “Erm … who’re you again?”
Is he serious? I just told him. Before she could answer though, Nami – upon recognizing Esme – let out a shriek and aimed a finger at the startled blonde. “You’re the little brat who got away with our stuff.”
Adella sighed in annoyance. She was trying to tell this to them. Taking the bag from Esme, she moved over to the side of the ship and dangled it over the banister. “Right, and if you want back the things she stole, you’ll give us back Leland. They’re just children; neither of them were aware of who they were stealing from.”
Thinking she had an advantage over them, Adella was indisputably shocked when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist and compelled her to return the bag of things back to the safety of the vessel. A pair of hands locked around her neck; another 2 around her ankles.
She upon further investigation noticed that the hands were attached to her, as if by some oddity she had grew them.
“What is this?”
Adella had never seen witchcraft like this before. She had seen many strange things in her life, but nothing as strange as this. Testing the durability of them, she frowned as the hold on her ankles would not let go. In fact, the hands tightened as if to warn her.
“I would advise against doing that, unless you want me to break your neck,” a daunting voice said.
From the right, down the stairs walked a tall and slender woman. She had her arms crossed in front of her – a strange and unnecessary gesture that baffled Adella – and despite her ruthless words, wore a smile.
The writer shivered in fear. This woman was scary. She dared not to move; there wasn’t much she could do in any case, not with her right hand restrained. What could she do? The thought of someone like her being aboard the ship never occurred to her.
Esme bit her lip, fat and warm tears leaked down her face. She reached up and took the straw hat from her head. The captain mentioned that it was his, didn’t he? She toddled in fear towards him and offered it back, despite the writer pleading for her not to.
“I’m sorry, mister. We’re pirates too – Lee and I. Please don’t h-hurt Auntie; it’s my fault she’s h-here.”
Adella feared the worst, but the pirate captain just smiled and took back his hat, setting it onto his head.
“You’re a pirate?”
Esme bobbed her head. “I sure am. My name is Esme of the adventurous Mousy Pirates.”
Mousy? Robin narrowed her eyes in wonder. She’d heard that name before somewhere – possibly in a book. Her arms uncrossed and the hands that locked the woman in place vanished. She glanced at her in hopeful curiosity.
“I don’t know them, but that’s so cool.” His eyes sparkled in awe.
Adella shook her head. “Not to be a bother, but the reason we came here was to get Leland back.”
“He’s my brother,” Esme added with a smile.
Nami – who had been standing quiet until now – leaned over the railing and pointed over her shoulder. She was pleased that her belongings had been returned, having feared the worst just moments ago. “He’s in the galley with some of our crew; shaken up, but not harmed. You can come on up, and bring the bag with.”
“Please join us,” Robin urged. She lifted her hand to her face and smiled in assurance. “Our cook can make you a cup of tea if you like?”
Luffy agreed. “And meat; I’m starving.”
“Should have thought about that before you ate through all of what we had stocked up,” Nami hissed. She huffed in annoyance and stormed back into the galley.
Woeful and patting his empty and roaring stomach, Luffy trailed slowly behind her.
Adella should have said no; she would have, but each of them seemed nice – she hadn’t had a cup of tea in a few hours – and Esme was already pacing along side the dark haired woman, replying to her many questions. She huffed a sigh and went along too.
If only she had known the misfortune this would bring about.
