( nadia has… a complicated relationship with her father, so to speak - and she always sort of has. he never really approved of the antics she got up to, when she was younger - and i don’t think it would be outlandish to imagine him at one point trying to have her diagnosed with the kleptomania she obviously exhibited, thinking that it might help her. he trained her, he loved her, and she learned from him and loved him too - but they argued a lot, and went very long stretches of time without communicating whatsoever. in fact, they went years without talking in her early twenties - ted not approving of how far she had fallen, and nadia unwilling to change. having a stellar relationship with her stand up father fits with the image she’s cultivated for herself and as so, nadia has spent time in more recent years trying to make amends and whatnot, but while she and her mother will always work on a similar wavelength and understand each other, as so ; ted sees her in a different light, and wants… better for her, really, than what she’s making of herself. )
