Season after season, the cats of CreekClan have become familiar with struggle. Through floods, starvation, and war pressing at their borders, they have been beaten down time and time again. Now, as their plentiful territory dries to dust and a drought hangs over their heads, CreekClan’s very home is at risk. The water is receding, more skirmishes are sparking, and CreekClan hangs in the balance. 

Their future seems uncertain, though one thing is for sure. A chance encounter awaits them, a group of cats known as the Tide Watchers lingering just past the horizon. CreekClan is fated to collide with these cats, though time may only tell what their introduction may mean for both the future of CreekClan and the cats of the Tide Watchers.

Just for fun, a snippet set in a kinder world:

Sandstorm stares as she watches her daughter press noses with Spottedleaf. Leafpaw's eyes are shining, her pelt is gleaming in the light, and her posture is straight and sure, but a part of Sandstorm mourns. She knows from experience — brutal, blood-curdling experience — that this will change things. It's irrevocable now — her sister is mentoring Sandstorm's daughter, and the part of her family that was separate has a piece of it again. Sandstorm smiles past the sadness, determined as Leafpaw bounces over that her eyes will gleam with pride, not unshed tears.

"Look, Momma!" she says, presenting the flower Spottedleaf had given her as a token of their bond. "I don't know what it is, but I will soon!"

Sandstorm purrs, tucking her chin between Leafpaw's ears. "I'm sure it'll mean something wonderful, darling," she says softly.

Leafpaw deflates. "Oh," she says. "I can't tell you. I forgot. It's… it's different now, isn't it?"

Firestar bunts his head against their daughter's side. "It is different," he confirms, "but that doesn't mean we love you any less."

"Yeah!" Squirrelpaw exclaims, dashing over from an already-exasperated-looking Cherrysong. "Love you, Leaf. We'll always be sisters."

Sandstorm looks over to Spottedleaf, who's gazing at her warmly from the base of the Highrock. There are scars stretched across her throat from the claws that had nearly killed her when Sandstorm was still an apprentice, and as Spottedleaf cocks her head, they almost gleam in the light of the sun overhead. She remembers, viscerally, pressing moss into the wound, knowing nothing, being shooed away by Yellowstorm and pacing outside of the seer's den for sun-cycles, blood flaking from her unwashed paws.

"Sandstorm?" Firestar questions, his gaze brimming with concern.

Broken from her memories, Sandstorm purrs at him before turning her attention to their daughters. "You're right. You'll always be sisters," she says, conviction in her voice, and calls for Spottedleaf to join them.

After all, they're sisters.

Spottedleaf began as a general Warrior apprentice. However, despite Mottlethroat's best efforts, it quickly became apparent that she had no head for hunting or fighting, and her penchant for talking to thin air made the rest of ThunderClan very uneasy. Thankfully—or perhaps not so thankfully, depending on who you ask—Goosefeather agreed to take her on as a Seer apprentice.

Apprentices : Firesight

Spottedleaf took an interest in Firesight—at the time, Firepaw—not long after he and his sister joined ThunderClan. He was often exhausted, and after Spottedleaf coaxed him into telling her that it was because of strange dreams, she went to Bluestar, wanting to cultivate his natural talent for prophecy. However, she wouldn't live for very long after the fact—most of Firesight's apprenticeship was handled by Yellowfang, who took over the role of Seer after Spottedleaf was killed by ShadowClan warriors.

Father : Russetwhisker

Mother : Mothflower

Mothflower was born a denpet, and so was Russetwhisker's father, Spider. As a result, Spottedleaf and her siblings have more denpet blood than Clan blood, which is just another wedge between Spottedleaf and ThunderClan.

Littermates : Redtail

Siblings : Honeyspeck, Foxpaw

Foxpaw, Spottedleaf's older brother, died of bloodloss a few days after ThunderClan's raid on WindClan's camp. He and Silverflower, Bluestar's mother, were ThunderClan's casualties, while WindClan only lost one warrior.

Nieces : Sandstorm, Cherrysong

Aunts : Lea (Denpet), Queenie (Denpet)

Uncles : Squirrelkit, Stranger (Loner)

Second Cousins : Tigerstar, Eagleheart

Spottedleaf, Redtail, and Honeyspeck are related to Tigerstar and Eagleheart through their grandmothers, Mistlespike and Firesplash, who were littermates.

Other Facts and Information :

Like Owlshine, Spottedleaf never took a mate and never had any kits, though unlike her Healer counterpart, it was due to a complete lack of interest instead of a lack of opportunity.

Spottedleaf is very much the Clan oddball. She tends to get lost in her thoughts, as well as things that only she can see and hear, and it makes her pretty unapproachable, especially by cats younger than she is. She often speaks in vague statements and riddles that only her siblings, Owlshine, Bluestar, and Lionheart have any hope of understanding.

Similar to her former mentor, Goosefeather, Spottedleaf has closer bonds with the dead than with the living, and it only makes it harder for her Clanmates to talk to her.

It was a great surprise to everyone when Spottedleaf took an interest in Firesight because she rarely paid any attention to anyone, let alone the apprentices. Much to the Clan's relief, however, Firesight ends up being a much more down-to-earth sort of Seer, a far cry from his lost-in-the-clouds mentor, though most attribute that to Yellowfang, not Spottedleaf.

Last Living Appearance : Into the Wild (The Prophecies Begin)

Spottedleaf was killed by Clawface, a ShadowClan warrior, when ShadowClan snuck onto ThunderClan territory to steal their kits.

cherrypaw is dustpelt's sibling i think from one of those missing kits? i almost always write cherrypaw as his sister.

@kudossi references cherrypaw in incomprehensible, if you want to know their thoughts, you'll have to ask him.

cherry...i want to say cherrysong? i'd have to check and i'm in the middle of stuff. but cherrysong of break me like a promise is the same family relation. she's close to tigerstar and lynxpaw. there's not a ton to say about her, other than she's alive and i should really edit a mention of her into one of the previous chapters so it doesn't come out of nowhere when she's briefly plot relevant.

(bmlap has expanded thunderclan allegiances i always forget to mention in the chapters.)

Cherrypaw does become very Touch averse it actually gets so bad at one point that she has a panic attack at the idea of it even happening. Making Goldenflower, Who was filling in as a second mentor for her just in case her mate can’t train her that day plus she is someone Cherry trusts. Because when Cherry was a kit still being passed around by all of the queens to see who would take her in. Cherrypaw had really bad nightmares as her powers first began to manifest, and would wake up screaming as a result. So Goldenflower would let her sleep in her nest with her own kits Swiftkit & Lynxkit. Also singing her lullabies and letting her curl up in her massive fluffy for like a blanket.

And ThunderClan does eventually pull their heads out of the sand, but the way it happens is because Tigerclaw actually has enough and yells at Bluestarwhen the two of them are discussing names for Cherrypaw’s Warrior ceremony and suggests the names Cherrysong and Cherrysight, calling what she’s seeing and hearing gifts of sorts from StarClan.

After which, Tigerclaw just kind of goes off on her since for her entire life, or at least what he has seen of it the clown, and even she has not seen it that way. Because as a kit, Bluestar had considered for quite a while making Cherrykit/paw a medicine cat, so her visions would be helpful to their Clan. As he’s yelling at her, he’s got his mate Goldenflower and Rosetail backing him up on this.

Hopefully this can help Bluestar untangle her complicated feelings regarding StarClan and accept that everything they did to her family was... less than acceptable tbqf lmao

Good on Tigerclaw for being a good father though :D Taking care of his apprentice, stepping back when he realized that his methods weren't working and changing it up to better care for his kits. Good Tiger has a rather nice family shaping up here

come on now, i'm going to have to hunt one down out of the many, many gems from the most recent Sootpath and Wrenclaw roleplay. this might be a little bit cheating, because it's not just the quote but a combination of quote and exposition that got me, but this one made my bawl my eyes out so i think it deserves the feature.

"As she was about to turn away, she paused, her jaw clenched. She thought of the brown kit again. "But... if you wanted. Before this happens, I think... I would like to get to know the cat that will be their aunt." And she stayed."

🍁 - favorite moment (Cherrysong)

okay well...hm. the crying spell that led to her becoming a medicine cat, her taking care of Briarface, and Leafwhisker's ceremony all come to mind. but i think my ultimate favorite roleplay would be her reaction to Poppycloud's death. it really hit hard, and it showcased how resilient she is, even if it's not necessarily healthy. the writing in the post is absolutely beautiful, and though i don't think it's the most iconic Cherrysong moment, it's always stood out to me.

✨ - initial thoughts

this is a tough one because of the roleplayer change(s) that Larkfeather went through, but i'll start from when Dapple picked her back up! i was absolutely thrilled when her personality was laid out; i'm a big fan of JaggedClan being wary of outsiders, and the combination of that and a realistic response to a sibling being murdered by a cult was incredibly intriguing to me. and Dapple, of course, did great carrying it out too!
