Get It, Keep It, Store It | Fall 2019 Fashion Trends

Summer is on the way out, along with a few fashion staples from your warm-weather wardrobe. But don’t store it all away just yet. We’ve scouted out what to keep, what to get, and what to put away (for now).

KEEP IT

Floral prints are here to stay as we transition into cooler weather. Pair with your favorite denim or layer with a light jacket or sweater to stay warm when the sun dips behind the clouds.

Camo is back this year and if you didn’t hop on this fashion train last year it’s not too late to stock up this season. Shirts, pants, hat, and shoes are all sporting this sporty pattern. And don’t be surprised if you see it in colorways that differ from the traditional brown, green, and black.

Preppy and plaid is another closet staple that is easy to wear into fall, whether you have a few summer pieces or you are still holding on to items from last year (or the last two decades - we’re having flashbacks to the 90s).

GET IT

Animal prints are back for another season, with new colorways popping up on fashion pieces. Easy to add into your wardrobe, look for leopard and snakeskin this season.

Stars are a graphic, yet simple, pattern popping up not only at night but on sweaters and shirts everywhere. Grab an item to work into your wardrobe now, for we think this might be one piece you can wear long after this fall season.

Tie-dye is back in a big way. Colors tend to veer towards the neutral palette or a subtle rainbow of pastels. You won’t spot the bright neons of the 90s here.

Speaking of neon, it’s back, but in a muted way. Fashion designers have perfectly married this bright trend with an easy to wear pastel subtleness that tones it down so you don’t feel like a walking construction cone.

Small clutches are the norm these days. The kids can pack their own snacks and the husband can hold his own phone. We give you full permission to downsize your bag size now.

STORE IT

Denim on denim has had its day. Put away half of that duo (for now) and retire the Canadian tuxedo look for the season.

Sweatpants are such an easy go-to staple but this is not their season. Super sporty and trendy name-brand streetwear is best kept in the closet (or for Sunday Netflix binge sessions) this fall. Store it away for that inevitable rainy/snowy day.

Oversized handbags can be shelved for the season, as itty biggy bags and small clutches are taking over. Store them away for now, as they may just come back in vogue another season (or decade) down the road. As we see from this fall 2019 fashion report, what goes around comes around.
