3AM is a documentation of North Somerset’s Ashton at night, projecting an experience of alienation. The dimly lit, low contrast black and white of 3AM reflects this solitude.

The transition to colour, although unchanged in subject matter, denotes a change of perspective in this isolation, reflecting the high of exploring the nights deserted environment. Photographed with a long exposure and developed in the digital darkroom, the landscape appears bright, as if daytime, but the glistening city lights, stars and moon indicate the night. This illusion of day and night mirrors my perception of the night, an intoxicating solace in nature, igniting euphoria.

Contextually a contrast between past and present, I communicate significance of the moment.
