I know that anon doesn’t mean total ill but chickens just have a death wish. Paella has managed to hang herself by her neck and by her leg. Separate occasions a year a part. Everything thinks chickens are delicious and they’re incredibly good at getting sick and hiding it. It’s sad every time I chicken passed but I can’t muster the same energy on a hen I wasn’t very close to as I can with a house chicken or one of my friendly girls who sits on my lap and demands pets. You become a bit numb to it.

I am also here because in a strange twist of fate I’m in a study project under an ornithologist so I’ve been capturing birds and collecting data on them. I have NOT told him everything I know is based off of fanfiction, nor will I ever. I’m just going to have brief moments of panic trying to remember if it was a real bird fact or just something someone made up for smut. Luckily for me there are some real bird nerds there who will point at a random bush 500 yards away and be like “wow do you see that black tailed warbler” they’re really cool though! A little bit glad people aren’t as horny about my intended field of study, but at the same time I’ve always wanted to be a consultant on someones alien or hybrid or whatever fetish smut fic. I just think it would be fun to receive messages like “hey so can you describe in detail the mating habits, process, and genitals of the blue damselfly” or get sent something like “hey is this accurate” and i get to read the most insane sex scene ever written. I do know alot about ovipositors but from what I understand they tend to work very differently in porn than they do in real life.

Called up my neighbor last weekend and asked if I could bury something in her backyard and she just agreed without asking questions. Everyone needs someone like her. For the record I was burying roadkill so it wasn’t too suspicious, but to the girl looking for her cat who wandered by a sweaty dirt covered teenager smelling like death and hunched over the ground like a witch at her cauldron was probably a little concerning.

Dean not wanting to hear it doesn't mean Sam was wrong about Laurel. We as Laurel fans have been defensive because of the way she's been treated but in this case her behavior does warrant some criticism. She's in pain but she's using that as an excuse to run away and hurt her marriage and her child. All Sam was saying is that she needs treatment and he doesn't want her to keep hurting Dean and Mary. If anyone was unfair in that scene it was Dean.

yeah, this is a pretty fair assessment. sam might have been clumsy with his communication and timing but his overall stance wasn't wrong. laurel has been making bad choices and she is without a doubt extremely unwell and in need of serious help right now. and dean does have a hard time accepting that. he does make excuses. he does, unintentionally, enable. sam was right. and dean knows that. he admitted later - at least to himself - that sam was right. he knew he was being unfair.

but do you want to know the biggest mistake sam made in that scene in the kitchen?

it was this.

even ten years gone, daddy dearest and dead is still causing trouble.

dean was already actively shutting down before the john comparison came up and once it did, there was zero chance of a productive conversation. which isn't really fair because he himself made the same comparison in his head in the same chapter (twice, the first one being the nightmare where he literally cast himself as his mother and laurel as his father) but sam was the one who said the quiet part out loud and dean just...isn't there yet.

it actually speaks to one of the issues problem between the brothers in general. they have very different styles of communication and empathy and that difference can occasionally cause problems and lead to arguments like that one. love and devotion doesn't mean you always understand each other.

#in fairness even if someone else (like cas or charlie) had tried to have that conversation with dean #he probably still wouldn't have been receptive to it just because he simply isn't ready yet #and he has to be the one to get there by himself #but yeah it wasn't the smoothest conversation the brothers have ever had #it was well meaning but rough #but i love that in a chapter where a four year old possessed child vomited up a dead bird #the most controversial scene was bro drama #not sarcasm i love that #winchester family baggage you will always be famous #dean and sam #asks #anon #fic: how the light gets in
