I really want to know your head canon about Kick and Kendall as a couple? Plus it's it obvious that Kick will end up with Kendall ,they have kissed like 3 times . Jackie is obsessed with kick in an unhealthy way . Scarlet is a teen , ( kick is a kid) she is in one episode. April is kinda forgotten soo !

Plus don't you think Kendall is pretty attractive as per show standards, like tall , smart , elegance,has a awesome side?

Before that, eh, I honestly don't take the cartoon too seriously in a shipping perspective. If people like Kick x Jackie or Kick x Scarlett - good! It's their business, not mine. (In regards of Kick being a kid and Scarlett being a teen - it is kinda icky as their original ages, but most fanfics I red that include Kick x Scarlett are aged up a bit so it's not that bad. And eh, their age difference is like what, 2-3 years? That difference is nothing when you're adult)

(April?! Didn't she liked Kick in a "Whoa! Cool little guy!! Funny small dude!!! :D" type of way? I don't think that she is interested in him in any romantic way, because... their age difference??) (April is me, she is my self insert now /j)

Also - to me Kendall is a cartoon. They all are. Saying one is prettier than the other is kinda odd to me jdklfkgldg.

OK NOW PART 2 FOR REALSIES

Them as a couple :)

1. They still fight. Pretty often. Now, however, their fights are more like play fights and they usually end with both of them giggling under their noses.

2. Kendall used to be quite jealous in the beginning of their relationship, but soon realized that her only "opponent" on that front is adrenaline. She already accepted that "Yep, I can not compete with that, sorry."

3. (I'm gonna put my "Kendall writes novels in secret" hc everywhere, yes) Kendall quite frequently gives Kick really cool stunt ideas and then asks him to tell her everything in detail. She hasn't told him about her hobby and everytime Kick asks why she has such cool stunt ideas and why she needs extremely detailed retelling afterwards, her reply is always "Y'know... Research..."

(She will tell him someday)

4. They are pretty good team when they are working together but don't leave them alone. They'll distract each other by flirting and get no things done.

5. Their dates are rarely normal. Even a simple walk in a park could end up with them in a middle of shark infested lake. Kick's doing usually. But their dates also rarely end in a disaster because Kendall prepares for almost everything.

Most of her clothes are waterproof for example.

6. Kendall sometimes calls Kick overly cute pet names just to mess with him a bit. She knows he doesn't like it but oh, the feminine urge to frustrate a man. Playfully.

7. The actual pet name Kendall has for Kick is "Tiger". She wanted to call him "kitten" but c'mon, it's too cute. She just made "kitten" more awesome.

Tigers are kittens too so yea

8. Kicks pet name for Kendall? "Fireball". Kinda based on her fiery temper and "Kendall" sounds like "Candle" and candles are lit up with fire.

9. "Clarence" and "Kends" are names they don't like to be called. Unless it's each other.

10. Jackie wasn't fond of the news that Kick and Kendall started dating to say the least. However after some time (and stalking)(Jackie is deranged <3) Jackie absolutely stopped getting between Kick and Kendall. Why?

She started obsessing over Kendall too.

11. Kinda ironic but hand holding is their most frequent way of pda. And the most unconscious one too. They just kinda reach for each other from time to time and it's so casual that you won't notice if you're not paying attention.

12. Communication is their biggest problem because

- Kendall has some social perception issues tm

- Kick is as naturally good in extreme sports as he is clumsy in a topic of relationships

They have an extremely messy fights sometimes but both are stubborn and sometimes see their relationship as a challenge so "We WILL figure it out >:("

They don't realise but their relationship gives them both character development 👍

13. If you mess with Kendall, Kick will pick a fight with you. 25% is because hey, don't mess with his girlfriend. 75% is because "Listen, she WILL ruin your life. You're better off with me knocking you down a peg or two"

14. This hc contradicts canon a bit but I just think it's cute so screw it - Kick doesn’t blush. Well, not really. He does BUT only his ears turn red. And he wears his helmet 24/7

While his family, Gunther, Wade and Kendall have seen Kick without his helmet, only Kendall knows about this.

15. Kick, even before they started dating, realized that "Kendall is boring" is nonsense. He already knew she can match him in acrobatics when she's following his lead but then why this girl knows how to make an actual sharp knife out of potatoes? Why she can sleep through math test and still get a perfect score? Why does she knows the names and layouts of some undocumented and pretty dangerous places in Mellowbrook? How did she reach that point when she can tell an obvious lie to an adult in power and they will believe her no questions asked? Why does she knows how to operate a submarine? Why does she knows the exact names of parts in a motorcycle? (It's normal for him to know but why does SHE KNOWS?) (She reads a lot :) )

Kendall joked that she "expected the unexpected" when they started dating but never realized that it was the same for Kick.

16. Kick taught Kendall to rollerblade. (Yes, Kendall joked that she wanted to know how to do it so she can beat Kick in roller derby "fair and square") Kendall learned pretty quickly but kept pretending that she didn't so she could spend more time with Kick.

He knew btw.

They're cheeky with each other like that :)

I find it fascinatingly concerning that some people (too many people) seem to have such a hard time consistently distinguishing between fiction and reality. Like, they are super concerned that just because Wincest is a ship that we're all out here perving on our irl siblings. Do they worry that we're gonna lose our grip on reality and start killing people that we think are demons or werewolves? Do they think that we are running around wielding iron fireplace pokers and spreading salt lines to ward off ghosts? Or that we actually engage in cannibalism (since some of y'all spend a lot of time talking about that on here, lol)? Or that we're, I dunno, committing credit card fraud to fund our itinerate drifter lifestyles? Like, there is so much in Supernatural specifically that is detached from reality and would be very wrong to do irl, why is it only this one thing that seems to worry them? Yes, unfortunately, incest is a real world problem and people are abused and assaulted every day because of it. That is horrible. But the really real world has nothing to do with ships and generally very little to do with taboo kinks. These aren't things that healthy, well-adjusted people want to be involved with for realsies because we recognize that SHIPS AREN'T REAL LIFE.

Trying to semi-organize my thoughts on what exactly I am wanting out of spn fic and hm let's see. If I remember this post in the future, I may update it as I think of/on things and use this for reference so I, also, don't forget lol

Okay so, wants/likes:

Cas prominent. He is my, as I believe the kpop kids say, bias, so he is kind of non-negotiable. Sorry I am just not interested in fics where he is not prominent

Destiel not required but a good plus. Slight preference for intricate courtship rituals over ones where they figure things out ridiculously easy, unless it is established relationship. If the revelation comes too quick and easy then I get taken out of the moment :')

Optional: Angels treating Cas like their baby brother :3 Cas can be somewhat put out by it or not. Actually maybe bonus if he IS, bc they are all angels of the lord and relative by rank and experience, And Yet [whoever] just cannot help but be *points* Baby

canonverse is plus. canon divergence is okay but idk how close to canon I'm looking for, if it's too close to an episode rewrite I may not be into that either

casefics are cool. If it's got that canon-typical vaguely racist sht then pls warn me going in 😔

Any exploration of the whole fucky destiel thematic dichotomies, the whole free will vs destiny shit, stuff like words of prophets are written on subway walls, like.. idk, something that is intricate-rituals-gay and also makes me think of the philosophy of thehuman condition

corollary: slow burns ig?? or like mutual pining? canon typical thinking they are not worthy or that it is something they cannot have? canon typical did not realize until later but even then they have their individual canon-typical reasons for not acting on it, until they do bc it's fic so they can get together for realsies?

trope: Cas and/or Destiel being parents. I read one recently where it was like single dad Cas (to Claire and Jack) and then Dean came (back) into his life recently and I rly liked it

AUs are fine but highly subject to mood so we'll see. I did read a Star Trek-y AU I liked

I'm down for a lot of various other kinds of plot tropes and stuff, tho I want stuff that's more character and plot and less, like, pwp or fuck or die or that kinda thing

trope: curses maybe? I've found a couple curse-focused fics which were interesting

trope: Hurt/Comfort of the Cas whump kind but not necessarily have to be just Cas. But like.. u know when Uriel is beating him up and he looks all bloody and beautiful, or when he flexes his sexy angel powers and transports the Winchesters to the past but then collapses bc he overtaxed himself, or when he had that blanket on when he was suffering from the attack dog spell.... yeah,,,

trope: Anything with like the Winchesters caring about and caring for Cas. I just rly like Cas being taken care of :') pls wrap him in a blanket and pat his shoulder brusque-softly in ur emotionally repressed way Dean

bottom line my emphasis tends to be more on character and plot. I can't do plot without character, the relationships - whether ship or gen - are important to my enjoyment of a fic. I can sit thru a lot if the characters/character dynamics are good and chewy lmao like u can rly sink ur teeth into it

Bonus features:

eldritch horror angels are a bonus. Give me unfathomable trueform angels, I feel like I don't see that enough

wings* but.... caveat I like my spn wings more metaphysical than literal unless they're literal for a point, but this isn't set in stone either. I'm just... slightly tired of the physicality of the wings I guess. Like it's not the physicality that's the issue, ig, but when it's not treated as metaphysical (as well)

Powerful af Cas?? I miss season 4/5 Cas, when he was powerful and self-assured and wasn't "mentally deficient puppy" as Metatron meanly put it Cas. I feel like we get less of that as the seasons go on... I miss Cas being powerful and exuding energy that I'm sure is what had ppl assigning him as top energy. Like yes flex ur sexy sexy angel powers pls. There's one ep where my notes just say "ANGEL SMITE ANGEL SMITE / HEAAALING." Season 6 Cas where he is more out of touch with humanity and more brusque was also intriguing even tho he was like that bc of extenuating circumstances. But him flexing his sexy angel powers sure was sexy

Sorry I like short-lived Cassidy am more into feathered Cas than human!Cas. endgame human!Cas just isn't a good solution/happy ending to me, I don't think Cas needs to change to be able to live happily, and also I like to chew on the like philosophical underpinnings of an immortal/mortal pairing if that does get called into question lol

Human AU* but like asterisk bc I will take human AU if the plot is compelling and/or the characterization still manages to capture that je nais se quoi of canonverse. If they are, like, middle age dads being domestic, as an example, tho, then I can probs do that, I just like.. have limited capacity for career-based AUs for the sake of it, if that makes sense... But character/character dynamics trumps all, like I said lmao.. I've sat thru scenarios/setups that lowkey dealt me psychic damage bc of the nature of the set dressing, bc I checked it out out of morbid curiosity but the way they did the characterization ended up working for me

fics that treat angels like literal physical feathered beings. Idk I just like... want the whole angel thing to be treated more metaphysically. They are multidimensional wavelengths of celestial intent in holy corporate/business attire visages but they are still very much multidimensional wavelengths of celestial intent the ballpark size of our Chrysler building. If the wings are treated too literally I find I start getting bored, ironically. This is ironic bc I'm a slut for wingfic. But with spn I find that a conventional kind of wingfic/angel conception where the wings are just limbs with maybe some slight handwaved dimension-shifting stowing is.. slightly passe for my tastes. Unless it's like a forced manifestation or sth. Just like.. get the metaphysics involved, tie it to angelic grace. Something. Make is racy. But not too racy, the whole wings-as-erogenous-zones thing I'm a bit over too, xenobiology to humans would just be biology to these beings, it doesn't make sense to me to be like "oh they have a tail and it's EXTRA sensitive," like are you suggesting your arm/armpit is an extra special species-typical erogenous zone too?

There’s nothing I love more than parallelisms and overthinking, so let’s say I had a good time watching Grease and finding the similarities AND differences between this v-cinema and its predecessor, Cross-Z.

Both of them have rather similar endings, in the sense that they follow pretty much the same pattern after the Big Fight with the villain is over. Even the jokes are similar!

(Long post ahead!)

1. The Big Fight

Okay, these scenes are fairly generic, so of course they’re similar. Still, there are some specific elements both movies have in common:

The power-up is a combination of different characters’ powers (Banjou+Evolt vs Kazumin+The Crows).

A character plays a trick on the protag in order to increase his Hazard Level: Evolt attacks Yui, while Sento wants Kazumin to believe the crows are dead.

2. Post Fight Scene

No hard feelings:

Cross-Z: Yui had a very negative image of Banjou throughought the movie, but after the Big Battle she understood he was a hero and develops a crush on him.

Grease: Misora was angry with Kazumin and rejected him, but now she’s thanking him for saving her life.

The clowns are back and interrupt the main character’s moment with a girl:

Cross-Z: Gentoku and Kazumin, who are jealous, interrupt Yui’s shippy moment with Banjou. Kazumin spanks Banjou, while Gentoku hits on Yui. After that, Sawa joins in and yells at everyone for forgetting about her (MY POOR SAWA...).

Grease: the word “interrupt” isn’t really appropriate here as he and Misora weren’t really having a shippy moment. She was thanking him, but he was still too heartbroken about his friends’ loss to try to make a move on her. BUT the crows weren’t dead, really! So they come back to Kazumin and comedy ensues as Misora laughs in the background.

3. Back to the warehouse

Everything’s fine, really

Cross-Z: Sento thought riders weren’t needed in this world, and Misora told him the Genius bottle had saved Yui’s students. So yes, riders are still important! Sento smiles.

Grease: Sento is glad because the Katsuragis have made up offscreen, and Banjou seems happy because Sento is happy too. Sento smiles.

ARE THEY DATING????

Cross-Z: Sento tells Misora Banjou’s on a date, and she’s shocked.

Grease: Sento and Banjou find out Gentoku and Sawa are dating, and they’re shocked.

If in Cross-Z the scene was like “yes, Banjou and Yui are totally dating (except they aren’t)”, Grease is more like “surprise! Sawa and Gentoku are dating (for realsies!)”. In both cases, though, the viewers are meant to mirror the shocked character’s reaction (Misora’s and Sento+Banjou’s respectively).

4. Last scene

It ends just like it begins:

Cross-Z: the movie started with Banjou telling Sento he’s the prince of protein, and Sento seems unimpressed. The movie ends with Banjou telling Yui he’s the prince of protein, and Yui seems to find it weird.

Grease: the Otaku Idol special started with Kazumin visiting Misora in Piccolo Nascita, having a monologue about wanting to become her boyfriend and then he believes Misora is asking him out (but she isn’t). The movie ends with Kazumin visiting Misora in Piccolo Nascita, having a monologue where he acceps the fact that he might never become Misora’s boyfriend, and then Misora asks him out (he believes she doesn’t mean it romantically, but she does).

This is something that happened in the main show, too. The finale had several nods to the first episode, including the scene where Sento and Banjou ride on a bike together and Banjou has his fly down.

IS IT A DATE???:

Cross-Z: No. This scene suggests Sento was just trolling Misora in the previous scene, as Banjou is at work and didn’t even expect Yui to show up. Whether they’ll end up together or not is ambiguous, although the fact that Yui isn’t even mentioned in Grease (even though it would have been incredibly easy to do so in the warehouse scene), a movie where other two ships sailed, leads me to believe they’re not in a relationship. EDIT: in the last Grease event, Takada and Takeda (Misora’s actor and Kazumin’s, respectively) were talking about the future of the characters according to them. They expect Sento and Banjou to stick together and never get girlfriends, which suggests Banjou isn’t dating Yui by the time Grease ends.

Grease: Yes. Misora is asking him out for real this time around.

Both scenes play with our expectations in different ways, and although the approach is similar, the outcome is completely different. Also, I find it a bit ironic that Gentoku and Kazumin were jealous of Banjou in the Cross-Z movie because he got a girl and they didn’t, while in the Grease movie they do get girlfriends and Banjou apparently doesn’t.

5. The ending credits

The credits show the characters that were in the movie, showcasing their friendship to the hero. The last few seconds are dedicated to the protag and the character that’s closest to them in the movie:

Cross-Z: (Un)surprisingly enough, that character is...

Grease: (Un)surprisingly enough, that character is...

In conclusion, both movies follow similar approaches to convey pretty different ideas or messages. And, well, both movies are polar opposites thematically: Cross-Z is about new things (new partner? new love interest?), but by the end of the movie, Banjou obviously rejects Evolt as his new partner and it doesn’t really look like he’s dating Yui. Grease is about people we are already very familiar with (same partners, same love interest); Kazumin’s sidekicks are his lifelong friends, the Crows, and his love interest is the girl he already liked in the main show, Misora. While Cross-Z is mostly “well, no” when it comes to trolling the audiences, Grease is mostly “well, yes” instead (Kazumin will never see his friends again! Except he does; Misora doesn’t return Kazumin’s feelings! Except she does).

This one’s gonna be a long one though, just to let you know.

Physical attributes:

In terms of height, I’d say they’d be 5'4 at the time of the game but probably grows up to be 5'9 or so.

They’re pretty thin in general, but not without a hint of muscle, mostly from school activities.

I, personally, envision Kris as being biologically male, but that’s just me. Not something I hold onto as a hard-and-fast rule, mind you, and not something I’ll chastise people over not following.

Not so much biological in this case, but I can see Kris identifying as agender. Or is just apathetic to the whole gender thing entirely and doesn’t really care how people refer to them as. I tend to write them with they/them pronouns but I can see them not caring if people use he/him or she/her when talking about them.

Abilities and skills:

Despite their generally reserved nature, Kris is remarkably good at negotiating and, in some cases, outright manipulation of others. But they often choose not to do the latter, mainly because that usually just means more trouble than it’s worth.

Very good at being quiet and slinking around, given their propensity for pranking others.

On a similar note, they’re very good at planning things in advance and working out all manner of schemes well beforehand.

In terms of combat prowess, however, they’ve only learned stuff from the various books, video games and anime they’ve consumed. They’re not a trained swordsman or anything, and tend towards flashy moves, but it’s not like they’re expecting to stab anybody for realsies.

Has a fair bit of determination they can call upon, but not nearly as much as, say, Frisk or Chara would in their own world. Generally this only comes out when they feel invested in something (such as the Dark World), but otherwise it’s kind of just the same sort of background levels a human like them would have. More on that below.

His life and personality:

Honestly, we already know a lot about Kris’ home-life: grew up in a loving family, then the parents split none-too-happily, then their brother Asriel left for college and they’ve been kind of alone ever since.

Spent a lot of time with Asriel in school and, particularly during and after the divorce, relied on him the most for emotional support. So when Asriel left, they felt like their only friend had left, and they withdrew quite significantly.

Adopted at a very young age, since they seemed unaware that humans don’t normally grow horns. So probably barely knew their biological parents, if at all.

Likely has some form of depression, as well as some mild sociopathic and/or psychopathic tendencies. Not enough to be a major worry, but enough for them to be seen as the ‘creepy kid’.

Almost everything they have is a hand-me-down from Asriel - given that Asriel was probably generally bigger than them, their clothes are often quite big on them. And unfortunately remind them almost always of their brother.

On the neglected end of child favouritism, with Asriel being shown a lot of love by Toriel and… well, no shortage of love given to Kris, but perhaps not as many displays of it. Generally grew up expecting not to have much stuff so doesn’t often ask for things from others. Which is why they found the stuff from the Dark World so important to them, and they loathe the Player for dropping it.

When they were younger and less emotionally withdrawn they were, in short, a little shit. Pulling pranks, tormenting Noelle, and generally having very little impulse control. All relatively harmless, but still with almost no way to stop it unless someone basically took them by the hand and said ‘hey no don’t do that’.

Now, a good way to describe them would be ‘apathetic’. They no longer have any real motivation, no desire to do much except sleep, and generally don’t care about anything, wandering through life as it happens around them.

Ironically, that’s what makes them perfect for a vessel for the Player’s SOUL - they feel pretty much empty and devoid of purpose. However, the issue with that is that after some time, Kris reacted poorly to it, which is a theory/thoughtdump for later on.

Actually really enjoys playing the piano, particularly fairly slow and soulful tunes.

Now again, this might be my bias showing, but I can almost imagine them getting on better with Asgore than Toriel. Difference in hugs aside, it’s pretty clear Kris cares about them (putting the danny devit-egg in the fridge without player input being the strongest of the possible evidence I can think of at this point). I can at least see them being deeply embarrassed by how Toriel seems to treat them like a young child still, and perhaps even resents her for it in a pretty typical teenage way.

Really, really, really likes dragons. Probably quite liked drawing them too. might also be a strong point as to why I ship them with susie but shhhhh we can talk about ships later

Generally doesn’t like talking to people. Not much of a conversationalist, or likes interacting with others in general. Probably was like that even before Asriel left.

Doesn’t express themselves much. Like, at all. Their face is almost perpetually tired-looking and they only give small gestures for reaction. This is slightly different in the Dark World, where they actually do move their face - their mouth remains fairly steady, but their eyes carry most of the emotion.

Has no interest in the whole religion that Toriel and Asriel (latter is a probability as opposed to a guarantee) subscribe to, which probably puts them at odds with their mother.

As a friend/romantic interest:

Being the withdrawn, socially-awkward mess they are, I can see them being particularly apprehensive about getting close to anyone in all respects; mentally, physically and emotionally.

Will let the other person take the ‘lead’ in their friendship, and will generally follow along with whatever they do.

After a while they might get comfortable enough to really, fully unload all manner of heartache and personal stuff onto you, more as a way to get it off their chest. Then, they’d probably finally start to be expressive around you.

If romance becomes involved, it’d be pretty much the same, except then they’d also feel more comfortable with physical contact. Almost to the point of never letting go, but almost.

Probably wouldn’t take any form of abandonment too well either, and might frequently try to seek attention just so they can feel some kind of validation. After a while they’d probably chill in the latter regard, but the first would still be something they always fear.

Really though just give them lots of affection and love (platonic or otherwise), be prepared to have an emotional wreck on your hands, and you’ll end up with a steadfast friend/partner who might do the occasional bad thing but genuinely means well.

Oh yeah, and get ready to deal with weird stuff with SOULs.

And them getting up in the middle of the night for snacks

So I just got home from Endgame and I got some things to say (spoilers ahead, tagged as such):

1. ALL THOSE FIERCE WOMEN HOLY SHIT THAT SCENE!!!!! Make a movie (or two, or ten) focused on Marvel heroines NOW pls!!!! (And get Lupita too when she isn't busy doing awesome stuff with Jordan Peele pls and thank you.)

2. Clint and Nat's friendship is so intense and pure I can't even take it

Incidentally, I liked that they didn't really retcon that awful Nat/Bruce nonsense, because that would have been even more ridiculous, but scaled it waaaaaaaaay back to put laser focus on her connection with Clint instead. I used to ship them back in the day and when it was revealed he had a wife and kids - who she actually knew and was friends with, if I remember correctly - I was kind of pissed, but it was so much better the way they did it... A depiction of true, incredibly committed and loving relationship without any hint of romance/sex sends a really powerful message. They are just wonderful.

4. Rest in peace, Nat, you beautiful soul. I love how she's platinum blonde right after the events of Infinity War, but then five years later she has long wavy hair with her natural red color and the tips are still blonde because she doesn't have time for hairstyling bullshit. It's those little details that made me appreciate the movie even more.

5. What sucks the most about Nat dying is that now we can be 100% sure that the Black Widow solo movie will be a prequel/origin story and at this point is it really necessary? I mean, I'll still watch it, but it should have been done YEARS ago.

6. Another detail I loved was how skinny Tony is in the very beginning when he's in the ship with Nebula and then when Carol gets them to Earth he's weak in a wheelchair with and IV. The hairstyle and makeup and probably graphics teams really nailed it in this movie.

7. Speaking of Tony, r.i.p. Mr. Stark. You really had a heart afterall.

8. Anytime an Avengers or Iron Man movie comes out I say this, but regardless of how you feel about Gwyneth Paltrow, you have to admit that Pepper Potts is a fucking goddess, and that her chemistry with RDJ is off the charts. (And he *was* Mr. Potts and NOT the other way around, wasn't he?)

9. I don't think Iron Woman movies would actually work, but I wouldn't object to seeing her as an actual Avenger in the next movies.

10. I think I was the only one in a cinema full of youths and elderly people, because even though the thought had obviously already crossed my mind I laughed out loud when Tony called Thor "Lebowski", and I'm not exaggerating, literally no-one seemed to have gotten the reference except me. WTF.

11. Oh, and I gotta say, if they ever do a Big Lebowski prequel (I hope they don't because these things rarely work, but Hollywood never seems to have original ideas so it's possible), it's Hemsworth for The Dude or don't even bother. Thor is ACTUALLY The Dude in this movie, and I love how he's still pretty fat when it ends and he makes Valkyrie Asgard's queen (which, you know, AWESOME). Another win for the makeup and hairstyle department on this one (I don't think they used CGI on Thor, to me it looked like Hemsworth was wearing a fat suit).

12. If only Natalie Portman would get off her high horse and be Jane again...well, there's still at least one opportunity.

13. Was that really Rene Russo (oh wait a second...) playing Frigga? Because if it was there was some serious CGI going in there. She looked younger than in the first two Thors...? Actually, younger than The Big Hemsworth tbh

14. If (As)Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is just Quill and Thor bickering while trying to find Gamora I'll be delighted. Get Taika to direct and Goldblum back somehow and I'll be in heaven. (Although isn't Gamora actually for realsies dead? Or because they prevented Thanos from getting the Soul Stone that was reversed?)

15. I was already upset that Evans was short-haired and beardless in this movie even though he was in full gorgeous glory in the couple of minutes he appeared in Wakanda in Infinity War and the post-credits scene in Captain Marvel. Did they really have to make me actually watch him shave though? Russo bros, you are terrible people who love to make me suffer.

16. What a GORGEOUS sendoff to Steve. I kept thinking he was gonna be killed, yet he came back an old man having spent his life with Peggy. I get teary-eyed just thinking about it, and left the cinema right after that last shot of them dancing in the 50s. Only a couple of minutes later I remembered there were supposed to be two post-credits scenes and I was already gone, so...if anyone cares to tell me what they were or have a link to videos of them I can watch, please hit my inbox!

17. Is Old Steve Joe Biden? I mean, the makeup was, again, very well-done, but geez, guys, be less obvious with the references lmao (also Steve would never be toutchy-feely, so, you know, no soup for you)

18. I'm gonna assume Carol's hairstyle is a reference to Annette Benning's in Captain Marvel.

19. Let's be VERY clear here: Thanos only managed to punch her because he used the Power Stone, because otherwise she would have kicked his sorry ass right then and there.

20. OF COURSE Steve was worthy of Thor's hammer, I mean, c'mon.

I finally finished the Defenders today! Time for some spoiler-tastic Scattered Impressions and Questions and Whatnot under the cut.

-K’un-Lun. We know it’s gone somehow, but has it actually been massacred, or just the portal is inaccessible? Elektra claims to have killed everyone there, but she might have just been saying that to get Danny riled enough to activate the Iron Fist. I’d like to think it’s still out there and Danny will be able to go back at some point and talk to his old friends, possibly explain things to them, but who knows? If he’s taking over vigilantism from Matt, New York’s his priority, and probably still THINKS there’s nothing left there because of Elektra’s claims, even if they WERE false.

-Elektra. Augh. I can’t get myself to like her. I think it’s very noble and and shows great heart and loyalty for Matt to never give up trying to save her and find the good in her, but - I couldn’t see it, man. Like in the beginning she was totally brainwashed and that was more understandable that he was trying to get her to go back to herself, but when she broke free and still wanted to murder everyone and support the Hand’s goals? Unless there was lingering brainwashing nonsense, I just gotta say -- Matty, she’s not good for you. Unclear if she survived, but I’m not necessarily looking forward to her return

-Murakami was by far my favorite Hand boss. Not even sure particularly why, just his continual snarky disregard for Alexandra, the fact that he only ever spoke his native Japanese and always tried to fight alone - it showed a kind of endearing pride and independence and arrogance that I found deeply entertaining. He was introduced dissecting a bear he had hunted and killed in hand-to-hand combat for kicks, and he lost pretty much every fight because fought alone people got the drop on him, but I loved him. He got impaled and had a building fall on him, but with those Hand guys, you never know how much it takes for perma-death, so I can hope he’ll be back. I felt like he showed a lot more actual personality than his lieutenant, Nobu, even if he got off worse in fights. The rest of them I could take or leave. I liked Sowande and Bakuto OK, nothing special, was generally annoyed/creeped out by Alexandra, and would be almost sorry to see Madame Gao go after all this time, as her enigmatic menace has been here since season one of Daredevil. It’s likelier that she survived that collapse than Murakami, if either did.

-I know next to nothing about Heroes for Hire or Daughters of the Dragon, but I’m here for them. I thought Luke and Danny’s friendship was gold, and Colleen and Misty were getting there. I think it’s possible Luke and Jessica will get back together, after that last scene. Luke and Claire seem solid, like, practically-married solid, and I wouldn’t want to rob either Luke or Claire of one thing going right for them, but - I don’t know, man. Luke and Jessica are a happily-married superhero family with a child in the comics, I hear. And that would be adorable. We shall see, we shall see. Jess deserves something going right for her, too. I definitely want Danny to stay with Colleen, though, and not randomly get paired with Misty in the name of comics-accuracy. She seemed so much older than him, and his dynamic with Colleen is sweet and solid.

-On the other hand, I could consider Jess with Matt, and their snarky frienship was really entertaining and refreshing. I think ultimately I prefer them as just friends as well, but of course that’s what I used to say (and sometimes still do) about Matt and Karen. I would definitely have to use the ship name “Mess” for them, and there dynamic was fun and sweet in that after a fashion, they stopped judging each other and worked as respectful team unit, with more affectionate banter. But nah, I’ll hold out wild crazy out-there longshot hope that Matt gets together with Natasha Romanoff, just because. I need to stop with my internal shipping wars because it’s going to get silly, and I’ll probably revert back to my lingering sentiment for season one Matt with Claire and Karen with Foggy, which opens up more messes with Luke and Marci and things, so -- let’s end this.

-Matt’s not dead, but his friends think he’s dead and he’s probably going to meet his mother, and season 3 is being hinted to cover the famous arc of “Born Again” - which I have not read, but intend to, and know a bit of the gist of. I REALLY want Matt to tell his friends he’s not dead as soon as he can, because it would be a jerk move not to, but Punisher season 1 is coming out before Daredevil season 3, and Karen is in Punisher and I can’t really imagine her just getting a call from Matt all “Hey, I’m not dead” when it’s not his show and she’s dealing with other things. So storytelling timeline-wise, it might be inevitable to postpone, which sucks. Or maybe he lets her know he’s not dead but doesn’t come back to town for a while so she won’t worry about him or mourn for him but she can do whatever she does on Punisher anyway. Or maybe he can’t access any way to contact his friends for a long time? Or maybe he has amnesia? I’m grasping here, I don’t know. I just don’t want another huge Matt’s Friends Are Justifiably Mad At Him fiasco. I was SO HAPPY to see how NICE and SUPPORTIVE Foggy was being in Defenders. He supports him not-Daredevilling and doesn’t judge, and then supports him doing it again when it’s inevitable and necessary, and they HUG and he just wants to HELP him. Karen confused me and slightly annoyed me in one scene, but hopefully her talk with Trish got her thinking about Matt differently. If she’s still an ally to Punisher I have faith she will still be one to Matt in the future.

-Stick is dead for realsies it seems. I’m not gonna lie, I utterly loathed Stick after season 1 of Daredevil, but I was forced with great resistance to gain a measure of extremely grudging respect for him in season 2 and in Defenders. Even if he was going to kill Danny and ultimately allowed him to be captured. He joins a troublingly expanding list of MCU characters I initially hated but was later forced to sort-of respect -- along with Yondu, Ward Meachum, Hope Pym -- but the strength of both the dislike and the eventual respect is perhaps strongest with Stick. Man, what a jerk. I hate him. I don’t hate him. I respect him but still hate him. I don’t know. He’s dead. I’m sure he’s been resigned to his death for most of his life. Rest in peace, you child-murdering punk.

- I freaking ADORED the lighting design of the first few episodes where every character and their scene was continually bathed in their theme color -- Red for Matt, blue/purple for Jess, yellow for Luke and green/muted turquoises for Danny. Like, it just did it for me. I loved the lighting designs with just the symbolism of the red in season one of Daredevil, so the expansion was just beautiful. Also the revelation that Matt can play the piano a little bit (playing a few chords of the theme tune)? Man, I gotta do something with that in fic!

-Obviously, you know, out of the Defenders I’m the biggest fan of Daredevil. I like all of them, but Matt is just my dude. I’m most defensive of Danny, probably, because he is a puppy and he needs it the most, but they all shone in their respective areas, and their team dynamic was just getting good when it ended. I wanted them to act as a team MORE, but I suppose this was more of Defenders Assemble and they’ll be more united in future seasons, if those exist. I wanted to explore different character dynamics, though, between them all. And the fact that they ALL knew Claire! We got a lot of Danny and Luke and a lot of Matt and Jessica. We got a little Jessica and Luke and very little Matt and Danny. And we got next to no Matt and Luke or Jessica and Danny. Anyway, they should all eat more meals together and hang out and be friends and have a “Yay we beat the Hand” party but I don’t suppose that will happen now they all think Matt’s dead.

-It was crazy, sometimes-disturbing action-packed, snarky ride, but I had a lot fun with it. I was obsessed with it, really, and chafed at waiting for the next episode with my parents, so impatient and hungry for it I spoiled most of the major plot points for myself beforehand. But ah well. It was still awesome to see how it came together. If you count how many time I mentioned season one of Daredevil here, you can probably tell I still love it the best of all the Marvel Netflix things, but Defenders was full of heart and soul and humor and worth every second.

Log 19 - Following Signals, Part 2

Things Skylark Needs to Do in Order to Survive

Build a hyperdrive

All right, so now I’m going to follow that signal for realsies, especially since it’s actually getting dark here on Foalai. Fortunately it wasn’t all that far from where I landed, so it was as easy as popping back into my ship and tracking it down.

Gorgeous, isn’t it? Yeah, that’s what I was seeing as I was coasting to the location of the signal, which would be that base on the lower-left corner of this image. Here’s a better shot:

There was plenty of room to land, so I did just that, went up to the door, and knocked.

... What? It’s the POLITE thing to do that, isn’t it?

When I didn’t get a response, that’s when I decided to just step in, and was met by this utterly HORRENDOUS smell. I was tempted to go just leave, thinking there was something dead inside, and I just did NOT want to get mixed up in any of that. But then I heard this...chirruping sound from further inside, and so I decided to take a peek and see what was what.

This was where the chirruping sound - and the signal - was coming from:

They’re ToilGek Shofor, and the stench was coming from them.

Since it was obvious they’re very much alive despite the smell of death, and since the signal seemed to be coming from this place, I decided to have a little chat with them and see what they wanted. Once again my extremely limited knowledge of the Gek language hindered me, but after some gesticulating and gesturing I managed to understand that he wanted something from me: specifically, an oxide element. Since I happened to have some iron in my exosuit it wasn’t too difficult to hand them a few chunks, to which they responded with happy (?) sounds, and then ATE the iron.

Okay. Didn’t think the Gek could do that, but okay.

Anyway, after that the stench FINALLY disappeared, and I could talk to Shofor without having to breathe through my mouth. There was some more gesticulating and gesturing as I asked them about the signal. Apparently they’d set it up in the hopes that someone would respond and bring them the iron they needed, and since I’d already come and it was clear I was a Traveller (or at least that’s what I THINK they meant, capitals included), they decided to tell me about a waypoint beacon not far from this base. However, since it was already evening, they also offered to let me stay the night, and I decided to accept.

Will check that beacon out tomorrow. Skylark, signing off.
