Blorbie something I’ve noticed is that a lot of fics with Nico include lines in reference to him having “perfectly manicured nails” and just various remakes along those lines but as someone who has been a fan since like 2013 this definitely feels like a big misconception/assumption because in most of the close up photos I’ve seen of Nico’s hands his nails have in fact not been perfect or manicured at all and I’m almost certain I read once him saying he bites his nails. I tried to find it because I’m sure I’ve not made that up but I sadly couldn’t. So much of being a Nico fan is learning to ignore mischaracterisation because it’s just easier but him being a nail biter is 100% canon to me and his uncharacteristically untidy nails make total sense (and reminds me of a fic I vaguely remember reading years ago all about him having an oral fixation 🙃)

And yes, before you ask, I clearly do have too much time on my hands if this is what I’m busy thinking about…

haha hi anon. I'm gonna answer your question from the perspective of a fic writer. If I include the phrase "perfectly manicured nails" it doesn't mean I'm stating an objective fact like nico is blonde. rather im trying to convey something about the character. I don't think the writers have actually zoomed in on Nico's fingernail pictures to check.

so where does this perception of perfectly manicured nails come from? what does it signify? well, Nico's most documented and well known year is 2016, it's what he is most strongly associated with. And 2016 nico was highly neurotic, regimented, type A. He needed exactly 8 hours of sleep regardless of the timezone to beat jetlag, he had a really strict diet, exercise plans, etc. when an author goes out of their way to mention perfectly manicured nails, they're signifying that nico is someone meticulous, tidy, metrosexual, aware of his image and how the world sees him and cares about it.

it's important to remember this is fanon nico, fan interpretation of canon as is the case in rpf we can never truly Know the actual person, just their public persona. the biggest difference in fanon and canon nico for me was the video where nico was on a yacht with his friends and he found out his dad's team won the DTM championshipship. so he just books a flight on his phone, doesn't even pack a suitcase or get off the yacht, asks his camera guy if he can travel and then he heads straight to the airport. in his yachting shorts! and shows up to his dad's party. this goes against the perfectly polished idea of fanon nico, who is always scheming and prepared and would've had this flight and his suitcase packed in preparation, while irl nico is rich boy idgaf. even vivian comments "he always does this" at nico randomly booking a flight In The Middle Of Their Yacht Trip 😭

anyways I hope this explains why the fics "mischaracterise" him, in order to write him in a certain way that's more interesting to the writer -- and you are free to disagree with it. I myself don't agree w/ a lot of popular nico tropes (the jilted ex to sewis for example), but that's why I read the fics I enjoy or write my own

In a “if you’re not with me you’re against me” sort of way and it all builds to a dramatic confession scene fitting for bartender obikin au where obi-wan admits he’s just been saving money so he can give anakin a very nice and big wedding with all the things anakin wants in it so anakin doesn’t ever think back and decide he was sacrificing some of his wants and settling for obi-wan

which is just soooooooo stupid that anakin cannot even talk to him for like 2 days (it was 2 hours and he spent the entire time glaring at him from across the bar because you just know this dramatic confession happened while obi-wan was on the clock and poor aayla was left to fend for herself during happy hour

Weird brain worm but: Toto’s ralley years w Red Bull coincide w Christian’s early years w the f1 team. Opportunity for meeting possibly?? 👀👀👀

urgh okay my sources on this are pretty slim but i’ve tried to piece this together best as i can.

so toto did some rallying “for fun” starting 1999 and stretching as far as 2013 actually. in the early 2000s toto drove mainly GT world championships and a few long long distance races for porsche, BMW, and ferrari. now my sources tell me red bull was a sponsor for some of those race teams which is why toto can be seen wearing red bull suits and driving red bull sponsored cars, mainly between 2004 and 2006.

between 2006 and 2013 he was driving for BRR (raimund baumschlager’s team) and red bull wasn’t a sponsor for them.

now, i think toto’s rallying was limited to a few races during his time as it really was more of a hobby to him. he was running his investment companies and also supporting young racing drivers at the same time so pretty busy overall. through his connections to the Mercedes junior programme he later bought the Mercedes DTM team, then co-invested in HWA which then led to his interest in f1 and williams inviting him to the factory. all of this happened between 1999 and 2009, but as far as i’m aware toto’s rallying was limited to a few races during this time and all of them in GT classes.

christian took over at jaguar/red bull in 2005. he was never really invested in GT or DTM, even during his own racing days he preferred single seaters; formula renault, formula 3000, british f2/3.

red bull as a company is known to invest in many many different sporting categories, one of which are different motorsports classes, so i don’t think it’s surprising that they sponsored GT cars. only christian wasn’t and isn’t involved in any of that; he doesn’t do sponsorships, he doesn’t do and never did GT/DTM, he’s obviously only concerned with the f1 division of red bull racing.

so i think chances of them meeting prior to toto joining forces with williams in 2009 are pretty slim. but not impossible! could make for a fun fic for sure!!

Growing up in a small of town of Oban, friends were few and far between: you and Susie were lucky to have such an unbreakable bond within your friend circle throughout Primary and Secondary School, joined at the hip doing everything together. Although, they knew it was always something more, however naive the both of you were, never accepting what could be, in a time where it just wasn’t spoken of.

You always knew Susie was destined for success, her passion and determination was unmatched to those of her peers: especially outsmarting the boys.

Motorsport was her calling, not just being surrounded by an experienced family but enjoying the environment: You watching on from the side lines and near enough giving her Mum, Sally a heart-attack every time she burned the rubber off her 4-wheeled GoKart with a new PB. While her Dad, John looked on with pride at his ‘toots’ and you cheered as loud as your lungs would allow.

Ultimately, life takes over and we find our way. It was an emotional goodbye when Susie broke the news leaving for DTM, advancing in her career and you were staying put, studying for law school but you were certain your paths would some day cross again… a first and last kiss shared with thousands of memories attached. You craved it once more.

Monaco. The epitome of glitz and glam, home of the rich and famous. You had made it as a lawyer and arrived to lead a high profile case lasting the duration of your stay.

Of course you’d kept up with Susie’s life via Social Media, knowing this was now her home with her own family… no matter how much time had passed you were pleased with the life she’d created. Seeing her as a Mum made you’re heart swell as her genes passed directly down to Jack but knowing just how much she wanted that role growing up. Hoping to someday reignite the old flame between you two but ironically Monaco was the last place you’d expect, given it was race week and she’d likely be out of the country, supporting Toto and Mercedes…

Your thoughts took over as you collided with an 300 SL halting to an abrupt spot as you crossed the road, unaware. Putting your hands up to apologise, you couldn’t believe it, even behind those tinned Dior sunglasses and dyed blonde, bobbed hair. Her features hadn’t changed.

All you can do is stand there as she removes her glasses and quickly gets out, pulling you away from the chaos of queued cars, horns blaring now created behind you…

well, since dead to me hasn't ended yet (kidding kidding kidding kidding!!!) lmao I really thought I was gonna have a hard time finding a fic with an unhappy ending but I evidently forgot who I am. I dunno how to choose between: 1. i don't even know where you end and i begin (500 words, canon prongsfoot....you get it) 2. Promises to Keep (1k words, dorlene with canon ending....you get it)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Okay listen, do I technically have a fic that mentions living happily ever after in the last line? Yes. Am I choosing that fic? No. I'm choosing Happy Holidays, You Filthy Potters, because 1. smut, 2. sassy young Harry, and best of all, 3. sassy good godfather sirius black 😉

I've gotten a couple of comments about Lily in Dead To Me but I've decided it's not my problem if people don't have critical analysis skills 💀

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! I write smut for a number of different ships and plan on doing others! Uhhh, what kind? the fact that I don't really know what that means probably means it's pretty vanilla 😆 there's a lot of going down on people 🤐

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Haha, no, but if I did I'd probably do PJO/HP

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. that would be so heartbreaking.

No, but that's SO cool that people offer to do that for some fics!!!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have!! @charmsandtealeaves and I co-wrote a fic for a jilychallenge last year, before we were even friends! It was my first time co-writing a fic, which was very cool and different, but also didn't feel that foreign to me -- I think because I've spent a lot more years doing para RP than I have writing fics. It was fun to kind of riff off another writer in a different way. I would definitely do it again!

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Okay, this is kind of tough because I only recently got into Prongsfoot, and they are the definition of soulmates... But because I ultimately see Sirius as more of an ace/aro character, Jily wins the place of favorite ship in my heart. <3

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Well, I really only have two WIPs posted on AO3: Dead To Me and Just This Once, and I have all of DTM outlined and plan to finish it by fall. Just This Once might be a while, but I also have a plan for it and would like to finish it at some point... But I guess there's a chance I won't finish it -- I do have a lot of other multi-chaps I am going to be starting soon.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Hm. I like to think I'm good at getting into the minds of my characters, really thinking through their motivations and emotions and then expressing those to the reader. I also think I'm fairly good at dialogue. I really like writing banter so I hope others think I'm good at it, haha. And based on what I've been told, my smut isn't half bad 😆

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Oh, definitely writing descriptions of any kind. I never remember to describe the scene and when I do, I think it feels clunky. I'm not great at writing in a more direct way, either; I struggle to express a character's emotions without getting a bit flowery with it. Just generally, I think my writing could be tighter, you know? I'm sure I'll realize other things I need to work on as I write more long fics, too.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Ah, haven't done it yet, so don't have any thoughts to share.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

HP -- Jily on the Neopets forums... never 4get <3

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

If we're talking finished works, I'd have to say Tall Dark and Glasses, which I wrote for the masquerade event for Jilytober last year. To me, that fic has a certain je ne sais quois that is hard to replicate. But unfinished? Dead To Me, hands down, and once it's finished it will be very hard to ever top it. It's imperfect and there are a lot of edits I'd make if I were to go back through and polish it up, but it's the first multi chap fic I've ever written, and beyond just feeling immensely proud of that, the story itself and how I'm writing it is one of the most heartfelt and meaningful things I'll ever write in my life.

He swallowed the rush of saliva in his mouth, swallowed the urge to throw up, swallowed all the anxiety that threatened to seize the breath from his lungs. “Fuck.” He whispered into the quiet of the room, hanging his head and dropping his hands between his knees. The guilt had already been all-consuming, clawing at his skin and scraping across his bones, but Bai Zong Yi getting hurt in prison, somewhere he had no right being in the first place? It was enough to chase away the last remnants of his euphoria from the night before.  He knew why the Boss texted him, knew it was an opportunity for him to take responsibility for his actions, and he knew what had to be done.  He finished typing his reply before he turned back towards Ai Di, the sight of him causing a slight smile to tug at his lips in spite of everything. His decision felt like molten rock in his chest, searing and jagged. He just hoped Ai Di understood.

i think most people on here followed me originally for hacks but i am a bit of a fandom hopper and a rarepair lover so this list will run the gamut:

I don't love this fic for the writing, but for the fact that someone hopped into the comments and asked me if i was on stan twitter (i was not, but i made a fuckin' account), and thereby introduced me to some of my now very dear friends. Was DTM fandom a hot fucking mess? Yes. Do we ever need to talk about s3 Again? No. Did my DTM standom give me MS? Inconclusive. But this silly show and trying to make these two characters kiss got me through some hard times and i'll always be grateful!

Just what it says on the tin! Someone commented on this fic recently so I reread it (love to never recall anything I've ever written) and it was fun! THE SUBTEXT IS SO STRONG in canon and yet there's not near enough fic imo. Due for a DW rewatch, is what I'm saying. I always enjoy getting to write southern characters as someone who's lived in Appalachia all my life 🫡

(this fic is also one i could show my twin without having to redact the smutty bits lmaooooo)

I'm sure Dreadwolf will get me back into the DA trenches but Bethany/Isabela has gotta be my rarepair otp. I seldom want to read a player character fic for an RPG (with the exception of maybe FemShep); I'm always drawn to pairing off the sidekicks. There's just so much AFFECTION between Isabela and Bethany in the party banter, and Bethany gets such a short end of the stick by the narrative that I really had to let her get her world rocked by the swarthy sailor with a heart of gold.

Most recent fic is always gonna be on the fave fic list, that's just the way it goes. In my first playthrough of bg3 my character pined for Jaheira unrequitedly and in my second I'm romancing Karlach as Shadowheart, so why not combine the two into some smut with a side of party banter! And I clearly have a thing for a bit of an age gap/hero worship dynamic as evidenced by *gestures at ao3 account*

(also tr*cy w*les's chronically online era is not helping my jaheira fixation... love that she ships her with everybody tho we stan an absolute icon)

firstly: i wrote this fic so i could make that shrek/leonard cohen joke. i'm sorry, or you're welcome, as appropriate.

secondly: i wrote this fic before so many things happened! hacks season 2, developing an incurable progressive chronic illness, getting married myself!

my wife rarely reads my fic (they support it fully! including meeting fandom friends on our honeymoon lmaoo luv u [redacted]). but i will occasionally gently ask if they'll take a peek at something, because, well, they're the person that taught me everything i know about love, so it goes into the writing!

it took them a long time to read this fic (or it at least felt like it), but when they did, they sent me a notesapp full of annotated reactions... 6 months later , after a decade together, they proposed in a drivethru.

which is to say: i'm pretty sure this fic is the reason i'm currently married, so it will always be my favorite <3

i’d say max and estaban? i don’t read too many f1 fics but this felt like the most random pairing

not sure if sebson classifies as such but nothing else comes to mind so i’ll go for that

40. which driver do you wish could speak your language/which driver would you rather teach your language to?

oh i would love to hear lewis hamilton speak italian so definitely him :)) and one again i would like to thank nick cassidy for including a clip of jenson button speaking perfect italian (yes it was two sentences but the pronunciation was 👌🏻) in his dtm vlog
