And just to add something Buddie related. I liked your point about Eddie walking up when it was Taylor talking to Buck not Buddy. Because isn't that just the point.

Like there are alot of moments we point to, and an antis can say well yeah but. But the point is there are so many.

For example when Buck thinks Maddie is talking about Eddie not Chim. I could potentially explain that away as the underlined Buck/Chim dynamic. Chims amusing jealousy of Bucks looks/ his own insecurities from S1, as like look Buck no your sister thinks he's hotter then Eddie ..

Or Buddie are besties but outside of originally teasing Eddie about Anna in the one episode neither of them actually talk about their relationships with each other and yes it's odd. I was actually trying to remember but I don't even think Eddie ever said the name Taylor till the S6 premier. He either ignored her or mockingly called her girlfriend.

But again that's our point, there are to many in almost every episode to make them all not mean something. You know?

As for all those moments, you’re right. Human behavior is infinitely complex, so there is almost always an alternative explanation that can take any romantic moment and explain it away. You know how I say I’m a “ship and let ship” person? I’m also okay with “ship and let others not ship.” Not everyone has to see what I do with Buddie, it’s okay to have different interpretations and POVs. But I do think there are so many moments, they’re impossible to ignore.

And there is at least one moment when I think there really is no heterosexual explanation, and that is the kitchen scene in 309. They were full on flirting, hands on belts, step into each other’s personal space, sexual tension to the Nth degree kind of fully flirting and there is no hiding from that. Also, the whole scene works on the comic principle of “bait and switch.” The scene seems to be building towards one ending, but then instead, we comically see them playing video games. However, what is that ending it was building towards, what were we meant to assume they’re about to do? Supposedly fight. Except, they clearly were never going to fight, the casual viewer would never think that a moment when Buck insists on taking responsibility (again!) for hurting Eddie and when Eddie insists on forgiving Buck would have any chance of ending with a physical fight, especially since their tone was a playful one, it wasn’t angry, it wasn’t riled up. So what were we supposed to think they’re about to do, when instead they end up on the couch, playing video games? I submit to you, that scene only works if on some level, even a subconscious one, the viewer accepts that they are flirting... That’s my one hill of interpretation I would die on, and it’s why I think fandom lost its collective mind right after 309 aired. Because I think even without having the terms for it, we could all sense that there was no heterosexual explanation in the very way the scene was built.

I have many thoughts about the latest episode... too many to make any kind of coherent point. I’m definitely going to have to go back and rewatch the ep again, but the main things I picked up from my first watch are this....  Bobby FINALLY admitting in canon what we knew all along. Buck IS his son. Maybe not in origin, but in all the ways that matter now. 

Eddie is in love with Buck. The small snippets we got in this ep spoke so much louder than other, longer interactions we got. The “DO MORE” rattles in my head constantly. Eddie is surrounded by people who have known/loved Buck for longer than he has, been through some significant traumas together, but maintain a level of composure whilst worried for their friend/son. Eddie’s reaction is that of someone who is completely and utterly in love and we can see him starting to bleed his inner thoughts out into the open. These two words have completely destroyed me. 

Not to mention Eddie’s reaction when he takes Christopher to see Buck. Not being able to look at the person who’s hurt? Silently crying so not to draw attention? Book end this with the absolute JOY and RELIEF on this mans face when they visit Buck once he’s awake? That’s some next level love shit and I will stand on any hill and scream this point. 

Christopher. Now aside from him speaking to Buck (yeah thanks Fox, I’ve literally burnt away the skin from my face thanks to the tears), we have the moment where he asks Buck to help find his dad. THIS is what has kept my cogs turning all night..... I was trying to think about when Chris has ever asked him to look for Eddie. I don’t think he ever has....meaning this is something NEW and it screams. 

WHY does Christopher need help finding Eddie? Where is he? Why is he lost? Is it really Christopher who is trying to find something, or is it a prompt for Buck? There’s also something really off about Buck’s response. He says he’s going to feel guilty about it later. Why would he feel guilty? Buck knows he’s on a path to discover who he is and I think this episode has helped him A LOT...but there’s still more to come and I reckon Eddie (including Christopher) is the key to that. Buck isn’t ready to find Eddie yet, but when he does? I for one am very excited to see where this goes. 

My FINAL thought (for now) is Margaret & Phillip. Their “redemption” arc. There was nothing about their behaviour or action that screams redemption to me. As someone who has had a traumatic childhood, I relate too hard to Buck and how he sees himself and how his mind works. So for me, this wasn’t a Buckley Parent redemption arc - this was well and truly Buck accepting HIMSELF for who he is and almost keeping himself in a (hopefully) healthy self-preservation mode. He is letting his parents into his life *just enough* to keep the peace. The conversation about the couch solidified this thought for me. As much as Buck forgives his parents of origin, he doesn’t NEED them to be happy with himself.

Several Sentence Sunday!!

Bringing you sentences from two wips today because I am Indecisive™️ and am enjoying these both. Tagged by @theotherbuckley

First snippet is from my beloved Frostpunk AU. Eddie is purely vibing here.

Sometimes it feels like Eddie’s being moved, his body shifting from one side to another without him moving a muscle. It hurts when this happens, a sharp pain driving into his side as though a knife has been plunged through his ribs. He tries to take in a sharp breath but there’s something blocking his throat. He tries to lift a hand to claw at his mouth, to remove the obstruction, but his arms are leaden and won’t move. He whines, as much as he can with something down his throat, and he can feel his heartrate picking up. Suddenly, a heavy warmth envelops his hand, and gentle, low words penetrate through the haze, swimming through his brain until that’s all he focuses on. “It’s okay, Edmundo, you’re safe. Christopher is safe. I’m – I mean – we’re here.” It’s Eddie, not Edmundo, he wants to say. He wants nothing more than to hear this nice, calming Voice speak his name properly. He wants to hold onto the warmth in his hand so it never leaves, but it always does. Sometimes he thinks he hears his son’s voice. Not words, but small sounds that get picked up and wafted towards him. It’s usually when that Voice is nearby, mumbling soft words that tell stories of princesses and pirates and swordfights and giants, and he hears a small hum or sigh that he just knows is Christopher. He’d be able to pick out his son’s voice from a mile away. It gives him strength, knowing Christopher is close and being cared for. Sometimes he dimly wonders if the Voice and the Angel are the same, a guardian staying around and caring for him and his son as if that’s what it was put on this earth to do. Maybe he can get better, if only to see his son again and to hear the Voice and see the face it belongs to. So, Eddie drifts as his body heals, cuts knitting back together, his lungs slowly gaining strength until he feels he could take a breath without feels as though they could collapse. His heart beats steadier and with less pain. He doesn’t feel cold anymore, especially not when that heavy warmth settles on his forehead, his cheek, or around his fingers. Maybe, just maybe everything will be okay. Maybe he succeeded. Maybe he got himself and his son to safety. And if that’s true, he just hopes Shannon can forgive him.

“How do you want to do this?” Eddie asks as he mouths at the length of Buck’s neck. “Think you can take me?” He says it like a challenge, one Buck seems more than happy to rise to. He draws himself to his full height — fuck, Eddie had forgotten that Buck’s got a couple of inches on him — and looks Eddie dead in the eyes. The blue of his irises are barely visible as his pupils blow, hunger burning deep as he surveys Eddie’s face as if taking inventory of his features. Buck leans forwards, his whole persona exuding cocky confidence, and he brushes his lips tantalisingly against Eddie’s, smirking as Eddie lets out a shaky breath. “Every last inch.” The last of Eddie’s resolve crumbles, and he surges forward, kissing Buck hard and dirty as he pulls him away from the door. They stumble across the room, tripping over loose items of clothing that are strewn across the floor - Buck 1.0 clearly isn’t the best housekeeper. The minute the backs of Buck’s legs hit the bed he falls backwards, dragging Eddie down with him. Eddie braces himself with an arm to the side of Buck’s head, his other hand cupping Buck’s jaw as he slowly, meticulously takes him apart with his lips. Buck groans into Eddie’s mouth and grabs a fistfull of his ass, pulling Eddie on top of him a little more so that Eddie’s whole body blankets his. Eddie slots a leg between Buck’s and smirks into the kiss as Buck grinds needily against his thigh, letting out high-pitched whines with each small thrust. “You need it badly, hmm?” Eddie hums as he breaks the kiss and begins to mouth along Buck’s jaw, down his neck, until he latches onto his collarbone. Buck nods vigorously and whines again as Eddie bites a mark into the tender skin.

okay some things. tim choosing to call buck and eddie dynamic a coupling is a choice. also friendship is a core of that coupling, that's literally not platonic. it's saying friendship is the core of them, even when they get together. but beside the point tim singles out that he's had a lot of fun writing the buck and eddie dynamic this season. why just buck and eddie and we know tim wrote episode 6 which i'm starting to honestly think something happens between buck and eddie at the bachelor party and that causes a shit ton of angst because when tim means fun he means pain for us. oh also that article screams eddie breaks up with marisol in episode 5.

Like, sure, there's some plausible deniability to the word "coupling" but all of it in context with each other just makes it feel odd, ya know? But the articles aside, it's the amalgamation of things that feels like something's shifted.

I'm just firmly on the train that something is deepening with Buck and Eddie this season, whether that be their bond as co-parents, or shifting their dynamic to finally explore how they might be romantically. I swear to GOD, if there's even a hint that Buck is into Tommy, or literally anything about Bi Buck this season, I'm slamming that "Buddie will be canon and I can't be convinced otherwise!" button.

Friendship will always be the core of their relationship. I was just talking to my friend Zee @tawaifeddiediaz the other day, and I told her about a video essay I was listening to about eros (romantic/sexual love) and how eros is what sustains most romantic stories and basically that eros = the chase or the build-up to a potential romantic coupling 😉. That eros inherently ends when the relationship is consummated (ie they get together and are at a relationship equilibrium) and that just makes me think about the concept of people suddenly not caring about a ship once they get together (also known in fandoms as "moonlighting". I think with those ships it's usually due to over-reliance on eros or romantic chase tension so then when it's gone the relationship isn't interesting anymore.

This is all to say that the buddie relationship has not been built on eros. It's been built on platonic, familial, friendship, and commitment-based love all before it ever gets to the sexual/romantic love. And so, to me, as a firm buddie-truther, that's why when they actually get to that phase where they do explore the romantic/sexual aspect of their relationship, Buddie won't lose momentum or become boring or have people lose interest, it most likely will end up being more interesting/complex and beloved ship.

If ANYTHING happens between Buck and Eddie at the bachelor party or at the wedding, I'm once again slamming that "BUDDIE IS HAPPENING and I can't be convinced otherwise!" button. Because come on? You can't expect to give them tension at wedding-adjacent things (that are literally all about reinforcing ROMANTIC bonds) and not expect me to see that as the writers confirming Buddie will end up in the same spot eventually.

And about episode 5...once again, I am an Eddie/Hardware-Store-Flirtation Marisol break up at the end of episode 5 truther. I will not be convinced otherwise unless I see the episode myself or if the actors post about filming more past that. Either way, Hardware-Store-Fliration Marisol isn't and could never be Mr. Edmundo Diaz's endgame and I'm not even a little bit worried about her.
