How To Introduce Your French Bulldog To Other Dogs?

Introductions are important when it comes to dogs and so with your French Bulldog. It is necessary to let him socialize because it is going to improve his life a lot. However, this can be a complex issue and it all depends on the behavior of your dog and what he thinks about it. As Frenchies love being the center of attention, having someone else to be on your attention range can be a bit hard. However, with the proper steps, he would be more comfortable with it in the long run.

Best Venue For The First Meeting

The best place for the first meeting of your Frenchie with another dog should be a place that is neutral to him. Not on your house neither on the house of the other dog. It would be great if it can be the park or on another outdoor area. After all, dogs are really sensitive when it comes to their smell so it would be good if they can meet on an open location. This helps because they are going to be doing their obligatory sniffing. Make sure to check if they are showing any sign of tension brewing and if so, make sure to separate them as soon as possible.

Eating Together

If you want them to bond over food, you can let them eat at the same time, just make sure that they will do it on their own respective bowls so that they would not be arguing nor causing a scene with each other. It is best to respect their own space, and this is why it is very important for them to have their own bowls. This is just a first meeting but surely, eating together might bring them a bit closer to each other as well.

House Introduction

After getting to know each other, you can then bring them over to the house. You should let the visiting pet to go ahead and familiarize himself with the yard so he would not be experiencing any anxiety about it. Make sure not to do this during night time or meal times. It would be best to do it in the morning where they still have a lot of time to just keep playing with each other for a long time. You also have to make sure that you have cleaned the common area in where they are going to play with each other because that helps in setting the mood.

And Repeat

Once your pet has met someone new and it seems he liked it, you can then proceed on making sure that he would meet a whole lot more. You can also start on bringing him over to other houses too and watch how he copes with it so you know if he likes that or not. Eventually, he will get used to meeting new dogs and he would no longer be shy about it anymore. It might take some time, but you will be able to do just fine.
