New Girl
masterlist
pairing: gilbert blythe x female reader
warnings: just fluff, somewhat love triangle with billy, some jealousy, kissing
summary: you had just moved to avonlea from london, you were a beauty with fancy clothes and a lovely accent, who just so happens to have two boys take interest in you
a/n: there is such a lack of gilbert fanfics on here, he is such a sweetheart and needs more attention
song: angeleyes - abba
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Walking up a hill from your new home, you follow a path you saw that helps lead you to school easily. You were dressed in a gorgeous light blue dress that somewhat stuck out around you. You had a ribbon in your hair and some jewelry with white gloves.
You truly didn't know what to wear, back at your old school this was the normal clothing.
You saw a pretty small white flower, you picked it and tucked it behind your ear. Smiling to yourself you continued down the path until you hear your name being called.
"Excuse me! Miss!" you stop walking and turn around to see a young boy, he seems to be around your age. Your eyes quickly scanned his features and you had to admit he was rather handsome.
"Hello, sir!"
"Gilbert- please, call me Gilbert," he smiles.
"Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you, Gilbert. I'm y/n," you smile at him.
"You're new here? You have a pretty accent"
"I am, and thank you. I just moved here from London," you blush.
"Wow, is it nice there? I've been wanting to travel."
"Well honestly I suppose it depends on where you are and what part you're talking about. But overall I like it," you explain looking at a squirrel you saw running in a tree.
Gilbert seemed to not be able to look away for you. He was in awe of you, he has never encountered a girl with such beauty as you.
"Perhaps you would join me in my walk to school? If that's where you're heading?" you suggest.
"I would love to"
Tumblr media
You both arrive at school and see everyone already there. You put your small bag on a hook in the cubby area. All the students turn and look at the two of you. It quickly goes quiet and they start to whisper.
You smile at them nervously and start to fidget with your gloves.
Gilbert leans over to your ear and whispers, "don't worry about them, they just don't get a new classmate that often." You nod and introduce yourself. The girls giggle at your accent and the boys ask you to say some words they think would sound funny with it.
Gilbert also took notice of Billy Andrews who was in the back watching the scene. Gilbert also noticed the way his eyes lingered on you, longer than he liked.
He then saw Billy start walking towards you as the boys started to walk outside and girls went to their little corner. They all told you to come sit with them but before you could follow, someone stepped in front of you.
"My, my, what a pretty girl you are. I'm Billy Andrews," he says holding his hand out. You put your hand in his with the intention to shake it, but to yours and Gilbert's he gently picks it put and places a kiss on your knuckles.
Perhaps you would find this sweet, if it were Gilbert doing it. But this boy seemed rather arrogant in your opinion.
"Oh- um- thank you and good to meet you... I must be going now, the girls are waiting for me," you nod your head over to the girls watching in the corner. You see Diana and Anne smiling at you waving their hands over for you to join them.
You slip away from Billy and go sit in between them. "I love all of your dresses," you say to them. They were different from what you grew up with but that's what made you like them.
"Ours? Look at yours! You are very beautiful and that outfit is miraculous!" Anne exclaims as the other girls nod their heads.
"Why thank you," you then lean over towards her when the other girls broke off into some converstations, "your red hair is lovely, did you know? It suits you perfectly," you whisper.
"Oh you don't know how much that means to me!" Anne smiles so happily you can't help but do the same.
Tumblr media
The day ended and Gilbert had a clenched jaw while he was thinking about Billy telling the other boys that you would be crawling to him in no time. Gilbert may or may not have accidentally stuck his foot out as Billy was passing by.
Gilbert saw you walking out of school and jogged over to you. "Hey! How was your first day?"
"It was magnificent, it was very different from what I am used to," you admit.
"Figured it would be, do you mind if I..." you look over at him as he continues, "walk you home?"
"Of course not!"
This then became a routine with the two of you, you both had grown very fond of each other and were very close.
Today, Billy was flirting with you again, and Gilbert mistook your actions for you flirting back. That day on the walk back, you got in a small argument.
"You were flirting back!"
"What? No I was not," you shook your head.
"Even if you weren't why wouldn't you?!" Gilbert didn't understand why you never went out with Billy, most of the girls had a crush on him.
"Because- because I fancy someone else!" you take a step closer to him, leaving only a few inches between you two.
Gilbert stops as his eyebrows raise, "who?"
"Oh Gilbert, you complete idiot," you sigh while shaking your head, but before he could respond you grabbed his collar and connected your lips to his. He quickly responds and puts one hand behind your head, and the other around your waste. You could have melted right there as you leaned into the boy. You reached up and ran your fingers through his hair, loving how soft it was.
Gilbert was about to faint, he had been dreaming of this happening since he met you. As you were pressed on him while your lips molded with each other, he prayed that you couldn't feel how fast his heart was beating. You slowly pull back and rest your forehead on his.
"You, Gilbert, I fancy you," you whisper to him, breathlessly.
"I like you as well, darling," he smiles connecting your lips again.

Doctor Blythe
Gilbert Blythe x Reader
[FLUFF]
A/N: thank you to the anon who requested this! sorry it’s taken me so long to get to it
warnings/notes: slightly suggestive content?characters are both 18+
requested: yes
summary: you get injured and go to gilbert for help. however, in order to properly tend to your wounds, the top half of your clothes needs to be removed.
- - -
Your ribs burned and ground against each other as you groaned, standing up as slowly as you could.
You couldn’t even remember how it happened, but all you know is that you fell stomach first onto the ground after attempting to get something out of a tree.
Was it a cat? A piece of fruit? God knows, but all you could think of now was the sting that was quickly spreading throughout your entire torso.
Your breathing shallow and painful, you pulled yourself up fully and stood up straight - or as straight as you could with the pain that was searing through you. Not only that, but the wind had been knocked out of you and you were struggling to breathe.
Looking down at your previously white shirt, you saw a tear near your ribs and a violently crimson colour seeping through the cotton.
Immediately your mind went to Gilbert. After all, he was a doctor in training, and he was close-by.
He’d know what to do - he always did.
Trudging your legs along as fast as you could, you made your way through the forest, cracking and breaking several twigs on your way out. You hoped you wouldn’t get an infection from whatever you scratched yourself off of, but you’d be in good hands once you reached Gilbert’s home.
After a hellish trek to the Blythe residence, you were finally there.
Standing in front of the chestnut-brown door, you felt sort of silly. What if he was busy? Were you interrupting his peace by walking in, all bloodied and probably bruised?
It was too late to turn back however, as he opened the door, a small smile already plastered on his face.
Gilbert’s eyes immediately dropped your hand clutching at your ribs, and his face fell.
“Oh God! What happened?” he all but dragged you into the house.
“I fell,” you stated bluntly.
He held you as gently as he could as he lead you to his room, setting you down in a sitting position on the bed before disappearing into the kitchen.
“How long have you been bleeding?” he yelled from his location.
Your head throbbed as you tried to think of when this occurred. Honestly, your head was a bit of a fuzzy mess at the moment and whether it was from the blood loss or being in the vicinity of Gilbert, you didn’t know.
“Uh- I-“ you tried to get your words out but with every breath you took, your ribs felt like they were separating from each other.
Appearing back into the room, Gilbert set a few supplies down on the drawer next to his bed.
He pulled a chair out to sit right in-front of you, and he hesitantly touched the afflicted area.
“I just need to check-“ he suddenly stopped, and his eyes widened to at least twice their size.
Your heart stopped. You were surely dying, right? Why else would he react that way?
“Well? Spit it out, Doc!” you pleaded.
His eyes averted from you and he picked up some cotton and placed it in a bowl of water to soak.
“It’s just- Is it okay if I remove your shirt? I need to clean the wound-” he said, his eyes looking at anything but you, “and I also need to check for bruising and internal bleeding, since your ribs seem to be broken.”
Broken? Why in the hell did you decide to climb that stupid tree.
“Well if that’s what needs to be done then...” you trail off as you painfully cross your arms to grasp the hem of your top. You’re honestly not sure where all the courage came from. If you were any saner and had more blood in your system, you would’ve been too nervous to even think about being half naked in Gilbert’s room. However, you also wanted to avoid getting sepsis.
Seeing you struggle, Gilbert sighed and pulled your hands away, finally looking into your eyes. He replaced your previous grip on your shirt with his own hands, before whispering a simple ‘can I?’.
Your words felt like they were sucked out of you as you watched the veins in his hands twitch, his muscles tensing with every second that passed. The sleeves that were rolled up on his arms exposed his toned forearms, revealing more of that veiny appearance.
You slowly nodded, careful to not move too much as his hands were dangerously close to your exposed torso.
Gracefully and gradually, he lifted the fabric up your body, urging your arms up so that he could remove it fully. Everywhere that his fingertips grazed caused an electric jolt throughout your body, leaving invisible marks in their wake.
You shuddered as your top was completely removed, and Gilbert’s face suddenly flushed a bright pink. His face remained close to yours, his warm eyes glazed with concern.
You could tell he was as nervous as you were, but your safety was at hand here, so he pushed off the bed slowly and fished the soaked cotton out from the water bowl. Looking down past your chest, and onto the cut on your ribs, his breath hitched. You weren’t sure if it was because he was staring right at your almost-naked body, or if the cut was really that bad.
“Let me know if you want me to stop, okay? This is gonna hurt.”
Not trusting your voice, you nodded again.
He instantly got to work, leaning his head down and gripping your waist for stability. You melted into his touch, letting the warmth of his palm spread throughout your body. Humming gently, you tilted your head to watch him better.
You almost didn’t notice the sting as he cleaned the dry blood from your wound, but unfortunately his pretty curls couldn’t fully distract you from it.
Wincing and gasping, you grabbed the hand that held onto your waist, interlacing your fingers.
“Sorry,” you mumbled, embarrassed at how low your pain tolerance was.
He shook his head. “Don’t be.”
Squeezing your hand comfortingly, he continued the task at hand. After this he smothered the wound in antiseptic, all the while rubbing circles into your hand and shushing your huffs and groans.
“You’re doing amazing, but I still need to check for any internal wounds.” he whispered, careful to not shock you out of your quiet daze.
You just groaned in response.
“Just a little more I promise. Is it okay if I touch you?” immediately realizing his innuendo, he cleared his throat.
“I mean your ribs. To check them.”
Even through your pain you smiled at him, sighing a quiet ‘yeah’. He was so dreamy like this. You always liked him in doctor mode, but it had never been directed towards you.
You were shoved out of your train of thought as you felt his smooth palms roam upwards to your back as he checked the health of your ribs. His breath fanned across your collarbone as he tried to control the speed of his breathing.
He knew it was the wrong time to be so nervous and flustered, but he couldn’t help it.
Gilbert’s hands expertly moved to the front of your ribs, gently applying pressure and massaging them as softly as he could. It would’ve been nice if it wasn’t for the agony that you felt.
You held your breath as he touched a particularly sensitive spot on your torso.
Retracting his hands, he swiped some bandages off his drawer and wrapped your newly cleaned wound up. Wordlessly, he stood up and went to his closet, grabbing a green sweater.
He sat back down in-front of you, and tucked your hair behind your ear.
“I know you’re tired. I’ll help you into this and you can nap here. The good thing is your ribs aren’t broken, just bruised,” he explained as he shuffled closer to help your head into the sweater hole. Grasping your hands, he helped you lead them through the arm holes before pulling the bottom of it over the rest of your body.
“And the bad news?” you said, voice scratchy from exhaustion.
His brown furrowed in worry. All his previous nerves were gone as he now stroked your cheek, reveling in how you snuggled into it.
“You lost a bit of blood, but I’ll do what I can to help.”
Your eyelids shut closed, unable to stay open any longer. “Already done more than enough, Gil,” you praised.
“You’re the one who did a good job today,” he coo’d, placing you down onto the bed, making sure your head was comfortably on his pillows. He pulled the blanket out from under you and tucked you into bed.
Gilbert began to clean up all of his supplies. Yet he made sure to glance at you every few seconds to make sure you were breathing okay.
It didn’t take long for sleep to take over, but not before you mumbled a little ‘thanks Doc’ to which Gilbert blushed and grinned at, turning away to let you have your peace.

George x reader (fem or gn you choose) so reader is the new neighbour, while they are talented too their parents didn’t make them work, got to go to college and have a somewhat normal life. However Lockwood & Co are the only people their age and they are lonely during summer so they decide to ask them if they want a hand (they are clueless on how agencies work) and Lockwood is so desperate with administration and/or stock deliveries he accepts. Reader starts working at Portland Row, never going on the field and while reader gets on well with Lucy and Lockwood, George is a bit more cold bc not only reader is treating this as a summer job, he resents reader for the opportunity of pursuing their studies and prob jealous of reader and their family next door. Too specific perhaps? Pick what you want but I need more George x reader 🫠🫠🫣
New assistant
Tumblr media
Character: George Karim × Fem!Reader
Type: fluff, tad bit of angst
Length: 3.2k words
Summary: (Basically the request above!)
Trope: Girl Next Door/Grumpy x Sunshine (I'm sorry i love George and this trope)
A/n: LONG A/N omg don’t worry about the ask being too detailed it actually helps me out a lot because I can just fill in all the details and this was the easiest one to write out of all my requests so thank you I really adore it! I did change a few things so I hope that's okay. Enemies to Lovers oneshot coming out soon (hopefully) also I’m so sorry this came out late I’ve been slacking big time!! Also if you guys wanna request for Gilbert Blythe from Anne with an E I would love it
"Hi." I greeted. "I'm Y/n the new neighbor next door and I just wanted to introduce myself and ask you something." I pointed with my thumb to my left referencing my house.
"Oh hello. I briefly spoke with your father this morning." He recalled.
"I apologize if he isn't the most talkative. My mother is the chatty one." I cleared my throat. "You're Anthony Lockwood right?" He nodded.
"Most people just call me Lockwood but please come in." He moved to the side. I stepped inside and the layout basically mirrored our house. It was very cozy and homey.
The walls were littered with artifacts it was almost like a mini museum to look at. It was really extraordinary to see. There was also a little bench and an umbrella holder mainly with rapiers in it.
He lead me into the living area and it was just as cozy as the hallway I sat in one of the chairs and he briefly excused himself. I looked around the room keeping my eyes busy.
I sat patiently just waiting for Lockwood to return. I heard some clattering in the kitchen then he soon came back with a sheepish smile playing on his lips.
"Sorry about that." He placed a tray of biscuits and tea in front of me. "I normally would have George do that part but he's out of the house at the moment."
"Oh, it's fine I really don't mind." I tried to calm his stressed mood. That's why I wanted the job. "So I overheard the other day that you needed an assistant? I was in need of a job so I was hoping I could help around here? Take some of the load off your guy's backs?" I asked nervously.
Since the houses were connected sometimes you could hear them talking in certain rooms. The other day is when I heard a male voice complain about needing more people and how there was never enough time for re-stocking salt bombs or preparing chains. I only knew so much about both items but I was sure willing to try.
"Ah yes, that would be perfect around here. We've all been working and we don't have time anymore for certain things." He chuckled. "Um, do you happen to have any talents? Just curious."
"Oh yes, I have touch and a bit of sight. I just never became an agent because I wanted to go to school." He nodded understanding the situation. "And my parents never forced it upon me. They always thought the business was too dangerous so..."
"Well frankly we really are desperate but you will get the same pay as George and Lucy. I want to thank you this will honestly be more help than you may think." I shook my head.
"It really is not a big deal I'm really in need of a summer job right now and this helps me too." Before I could elaborate the front door swung open and it revealed a pair arguing about something.
"No no no that's actually wrong!" The boy argued. I assumed that was George and the girl was Lucy.
"Please not in front of our guest." Lockwood gave them a desperate smile. "This is Y/n. She moved in last week." Lucy gave me a small smile and placed her bag by the entrance of the room. She walked over to me and shook my hand.
"I'm Lucy Carlyle. It's good to finally meet you." she looked at the other boy trying to tell him to introduce himself. He sighed as if I was causing him a problem.
"George Karim." He spoke before walking off.
"I'm sorry about him. He’s not good with new people." Lockwood apologized.
"It's okay! I understand." I let out a nervous chuckle.
The rest of the day was full of many things mainly the tour of the house/ where everything was located. It was a little nerve-wracking because I wanted to make a good impression and make sure I did the job right.
At the end of the day, Lockwood explained the times he wanted me here and when I could leave. Everything sounded good and maybe I would actually have a good summer this year.
As the sun started to dip down below the trees across from our houses, I quietly shut the door of Lockwood and Co easily slipping out of the house.
I pulled out the key and slid it into the lock. I opened the door and was hit with a pleasant aroma. Garlic, spices, it was some recipe I couldn't place.
"I'm home." I called out. I heard my dad in the kitchen and my mom was somewhere in the house. I filled up on tea and many biscuits over at the house so I wasn't exactly in the mood for something to eat. I slipped off my shoes and went up the stairs to my room.
-
Walking into 35 Portland Row the next day there was already chaos. Lockwood was running around searching for his tie, George was complaining about tea and Lucy was yelling about chains.
"Lockwood!" I got his attention and he slowed down a little bit. "I'll help you find your tie okay? What's happening what's the rush?"
"We have to talk about a case with a big company in 15 minutes, we woke up late and we were not prepared. They wanted to see our equipment and-"
"Hey. Again I'll find your tie, I'll pack up some salt bombs and flares. Slow down it's gonna be alright. You hired me so you wouldn’t be stressed.” He nodded and gulped lightly.
I made sure to stop by the kitchen first to see George in distress about how they somehow had absolutely no tea in the house.
“Hey you can go get ready I’ll be sure to pick up some tea later.” I proposed to George. He hummed as if not to care and walked out of the room. He has been so difficult already and I haven't even known him for 24 hours.
Lockwood’s tie was in the kitchen on one of the chairs. I snagged it and headed down to the storeroom. Lucy was a stressed mess going through chains and trying to go through flares at the same time. "Lucy." I interrupted her thoughts. "How about I sort and oil chains for you guys and I'll take care of the supplies. Go have a quick breakfast, George and Lockwood too.”
She sighed and briefly hugged me.
"Thank you."
"Yeah of course!" She quickly ran out of the storage room and I heard her head up the stairs.
There were many different types of flares to choose from, salt bombs too. I grabbed a few different kinds and placed three in a smaller bag down here obviously for missions.
I walked out of the storeroom and slung the bag of supplies over my shoulder to carry upstairs. Lockwood had been pacing in the kitchen and Lucy had a piece of toast in her hand. Not sure where George had wandered off to but I was nervous for them all to be on time.
“Tie and supplies.” I handed both things to Lockwood and a wave of relief washed over him.
“Thank you Y/n truly you’re a lifesaver.” I nodded and stepped back. They both started to drift out of the room and soon the house was filled with silence.
Well, that was one way to start the first day. What was I thinking? I don't know how to oil chains or how I'm supposed to sort them. How hard could it be..?
-
"Why did you let her put everything together?" George grumbled in the taxi.
"What do you mean?" Lockwood furrowed his eyebrows.
"She just started here and she acted like she could fix everything and how do you know she will just do everything right?"
"Because I hired her and I have faith. George, you just have to give her a chance." George grumbled in response and just stared out the car window.
-
Over time and working at 35 Portland Row I seemed to realize one thing that never seemed to change. George Karim.
It's like he goes out of his way to pick on things I didn't do correctly. It is possibly the hardest thing to deal with.
"We needed more salt bombs."
"Why didn't you get flares while we were out?"
“That’s not how you do it!”
Even when I'm not working and I'm hanging out with Lucy he will complain were "too loud" or "disturbing his peace"
He is extremely different around me. Whenever I walk into the same room as him it's like his whole mood changes. There's always this look in his eye I could never understand.
Anger? Hatred even?
He was friendly around Lockwood and Lucy but never me. I was really determined to figure out what I did to make him this way with me.
-
“Hey Luce?” I rolled over on Lucy’s bed.
“Hm?” She asked as she was painting her nails black.
“So you know why George isn’t fond of me?” She snorted.
“He’s fond of you even thought he might not like to show it exactly..?”
“It makes it sound like you’re just trying to make me feel better.” I groaned.
“Hey.” She looked at me pausing her nails. “Over these past couple of months, you’ve become like my closest friend. Why would I lie to you?” She put the nail polish brush back into the bottle and placed it on the side table.
“Because you’re Lucy Carlyle and you’re the most mischievous person I know.” She gasped before throwing a pillow at me with her non-painted hand. “See! Mischief!” Maybe and hopefully Lockwood would know.
-
"Lockwoooooood." I wined. He was surrounded by books in the library. He jolted up at my voice.
"Oh um hi." His eyes were wide and tired.
"Lockwood you need a nap." I frowned. He has a few empty tea cups surrounding him.
"Nevermind that. What did you need?" He blinked a couple of times trying to wake himself up. He looked quite a mess I wasn't even sure I should be asking him this right now.
"If I tell you, you must take a nap after." He nodded and kept blinking.
"Do you know why George doesn't like me?" Lockwood sat up and looked shocked.
"He doesn't not like you." I groaned.
"Ugh, that's what Lucy said! But it's true he obviously dislikes me I can see it in his cold eyes." Lockwood cracked a smile.
"He does i promise. But if you want to make any of us happy in this house.. food is the way to go."
"Thank you!" I beamed. Not only did I get a tip for George but for all of them.
-
I placed all of the bags of food on the kitchen table. I took Lockwood's advice immediately.
I made sure to purchase my own ingredients. George was picky about people using his spices or things in the fridges without his knowing and even if you did ask it was most always a definite no.
I wanted to cook for Lockwood and everyone else! Just a small nice gesture. And also to make George like me more.
I’ve had little experience from cooking but just enough to make this recipe. My family made it constantly and kept the ingredients and steps on a little note card in the kitchen.
I did my best and followed along as well as I could. I added everything as it should be, no more no less.
The smell attracted Lockwood into the kitchen.
“Oh Y/n. Hi.” I hummed. “I thought George was cooking.”
“Nope. Thought I’d do something for you guys. You’ve had a long week. You better have taken that nap like I told you.” The agents had many back-to-back cases making them extremely exhausted. Of course, I packed their gear each and every day and made sure they had something in their system before going off to fight visitors.
And since George has been tired he hasn’t been cooking meaning they’ve only been eating out.
“That’s very thoughtful. And I have by the way.” Lockwood flashed his signature smile and raised his hands in defense. "May I help?"
"Oh no, Lockwood! You sit down while I do this for you okay?"
"You've been doing so much all month! And the month before that too."
"Thats my job Lockwood." I chuckled.
"Just let me help a little bit." I sighed. I knew I couldn't keep him from helping since this is his kitchen and the boy is stubborn.
I don't know how but in a matter of minutes he made it so astonishingly messy.
"Hey if you keep making it this messy you're cleaning it up."
"Okay okay!" He laughed. With the extra help, the dish was being made way faster than before. Even if his real purpose was to mess up the kitchen and I swear it was.
"Can you go grab Lucy and George for me?" Lockwood hummed and he pulled his lanky body out of the kitchen and up to the bedrooms.
I started to place all of the food onto the table and I made everything as neat and pretty as I could. I wanted tonight to be special and I wanted George to actually like me. Even if it was just for tonight that wouldn't be all that bad.
One by one the members of Lockwood and co trudged down the steps and landed into the kitchen. A small chatter filled the room and it felt really nice to have this again.
Since they were always eating out this week I could never really join them and besides I was never at the house past the time they left at dusk. I always did the chores during the day and I only stayed if they asked me to.
They all pulled out a chair and Lockwood grabbed drinks and such . Soon they started grabbing their own servings of the food and their faces morphed into a interested grin. Except George of course he kept his plain look but I swear I saw the corners of his cheeks twitch as if he were going to.
The actual part where they tried the food was nerve-wracking. I was worried they wouldn’t like this but as soon as George spoke out my worries faded away.
"This isn't bad." George hummed
"Yeah, this is amazing Y/n! Where did you learn to cook like this?" She shoveled some more food into her mouth.
"Eh you know just my parents." George glanced down at his food.
"You should stay in tonight." Lockwood offered. "The food was great like they said and I'm sure we could all find something to do together."
I thought for a moment. The plan sounded lovely but I was sure I had plans later tonight.
"Well, my parents must-" George abruptly stood up and stormed out of the room and out of the house. The door made a loud bang. We all sat in silence.
I didn’t know what happened did but I for sure knew it had something to do with me.
I wasn't sure what to do so I followed George out of the house and saw him sitting on the steps with his hand propping his head up. I didn't say anything I just sat next to him.
"I'm sorry for whatever I did to you. I don't know what I said or did but I just don't want you to be angry with me." George was silent for a moment his eyes glued to the street.
"I'm not mad at you." He finally said looking over at me. "I'm jealous." He admitted. I almost laughed but I was genuinely curious. I was doing Lockwood and Co's dirty work for gods sake. And of course, I wasn't mad about that that's what I signed up for. But in that moment I finally realized that look he gave me. It was jealousy.
"Jealous of what?" I frowned.
"Your relationship with your parents." He sighed. I was shocked but it made sense. All I've been talking about since I arrived here was my parents. I looked at him waiting for him to elaborate. "My parent's raised my siblings to be so successful they were all born engineers and I was just the odd child. When I got fired from Fittes they looked down on me they were so disappointed they barely even let me tell them why."
I was partly glad that George didn't hate my guts but another part of me felt sorrow for him.
"You're not an odd child." George scoffed at that. "It's true! You're so smart I've seen it. You crack most of the cases and Lucy tells me how quickly you find the sources. I've heard how hard you work to do research for this agency. Coming into this agency I had absolutely no idea how anything worked and now being around you and all the others… I feel like I know everything.” He nodded softly.
I scooted closer to him and he smiled.
“I know what it feels like to not fit in. In high school and even college, I was always a loner. I didn’t fit in with the other kids. Most of them would have parties and have fun but I was always sucked into my studies and that’s what made people not notice me. Well, I couple did and tossed me around for it but usually, they were drunk asshole boys who just wanted to get into a girl's pants.” George gave me a concerned look. “But here I feel like I have a place. Like I’m heard from and you guys understand me. And George… we all fit in together.”
It looked like something clicked in his brain. Like he finally realized something.
“You shouldn’t have to get your parent's approval to be successful.” I nudged him.
“I guess I just always paid attention to what I needed to improve on or do better I never realized what good was happening in front of me.” I patted his thigh. “I always preferred everything to be perfect. I think that’s why I made comments to you so much.”
“I’m also quite glad you don’t hate my guts.” He laughed. “I’m serious! I actually thought you hated me.”
“I’m sorry. I’m just not a big fan of the unfamiliar. But you have been working here for well over two months.”
“It’s okay I just hope we’re okay from this.” I pointed between us.
“Yes yes.” He clarified.
“Now can we go back inside? And it’s quite hot and I want a donut.” I complained. George stood up and offered a gentle hand. I took it and struggled a bit because I swear I was almost melted to the ground.
We entered quietly and went back down to the kitchen where we saw Lockwood and Lucy giving each other very lovey eyes.
Me and George exchanged very well knowing looks.
“You know if you two are going to keep looking at each other like that you might as well kiss.” He spoke out making them jump in shock.
“Yeah it’s really quite painful you know?” I crossed my arms.
“No, we’re not like that I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lockwood fumbled with his words.
“Yeah, we aren’t doing anything.” Lucy flushed. “Yeah well since when are you two partners in crime?” I shrugged.
“Now.”

I have talked about the similarities between Shirbert (Anne x Gilbert) and Portwell. I will not be surprise if Val ends up being like what Winnie was for Shirbert in Season 3 of AWAE. Think about it both Winnie and Val have blonde hair. Both Winnie and Val are older than the main girl. I can pictured Val helping EJ with college stuff just like how Winnie was doing the same for Gilbert. Gina ends up realizing that she is in love with EJ when she sees him with Val talking about college. Part 1/2
Which leads to Portwell having a love confession where they say “I love you” for the first time. I will seriously laugh if EJ pulls a Gilbert Blythe by telling Gina he has been in love with her since the moment she pour punch on his head at homecoming, just like what Gilbert told Anne that he has been in love with her since the moment she broke a slate on his head in Book 3. Part 2/2
No bc if this happened i would pass away, but not before never shutting up about it.
For anyone who needs context (SPOILER ALERT FOR ANNE WITH AN E IF ANYONE CARES LOL), Anne hit Gilbert in one of the first episodes right across his smug, handsome face with a slate, and I'm not lying when I say his love for her at that moment was just plastered on his face. Imagine getting hit in the face really really hard and then being like:
Tumblr media
Anyway, the point is that when Gilbert tells Anne about his undying love for her, he mentions how he had been in love with her since that moment.
Winnie was a character that came in on season 3 if I'm not mistaken, and she was used as a sort of plot point to get in the way of Shirtbert (Anne and Gilbert). He was Gilbert's gf for a good while there, and that helped Anne realize that she herself had an undying love for Gilbert she hadn't admitted. Gilbert was supposedly going to get engaged to Winnie, but at the end of the day he realized he didn't really love her, so they broke up. Gilbert then realized that the only person he wanted to be with was Anne, and it progressed from there.
Coming back to Portwell, tho, I can definitely see the similarities, anon! I think if they went with a similar storyline as shirbert it would be a well-written slow burn to the "i love you" scene. Something else i could hope for in this scenario is Val's character. Winnie in AWAE was never disrespected or thought of as the "side chick" or "the boulder in their path to love" or whatever; Winnie was an incredibly interesting and full character, which made the audience understand Gilbert's attraction to her but not necessarily root for them together.
Honestly I think Val is gonna be for EJ what Jack was for Gina, which is help him realize something about their relationship that he hadn't thought about. Maybe something big happens, like a fight, and EJ goes to talk to Val, and she's like "wow you really love this girl don't you?" or smth, and then EJ kind of has a moment of "wait i do" and then goes to get gina and they kiss under the rain-
okay... that last part maybe isn't necessarily an accurate prediction, but would make one hell of a fanfic...
brb i'm gonna make another oneshot-

Charlotte Town
requests are open!
masterlist
Tumblr media
It was saturday morning and you had just woken up when your mother stormed into your room.
"Y/n get up you need to go to Charlotte Town!" your mother opened your curtains letting in some sunlight.
you squinted your eyes at how bright the light was. "why do I have to go all the way to Charlotte town?" you ask confused.
"I need you to pick something up for me" your mother said handing you a note with an adress on it. you groaned and got up.
"you're going with Gilbert Blythe he's going to Charlotte Town as well." your mother said.
you froze. maybe today wasn't as bad after all. "yea he goes every Saturday" you say before taking your favorite dress out of your closet.
your mother walked out to make you breakfast. you quickly got dressed and ran downstairs. Gilbert was sitting at your kitchen table. you smiled.
"hey Gil" you said before kissing his cheek and sitting down next to him.
"morning Y/n" he smiled at you as you took a bite of your toast.
you and Gilbert were good friends, but there was definitely more going on between you two and everyone knew it. even you two knew, but neither of you had the guts to act on it.
"Y/n here's your bag. there's some money inside." your mother said handing you your bag.
"thanks" you mumbled finishing your breakfast. You stood up ready to leave as your mother turned towards you.
"be careful you two" she said before looking at Gilbert. "and Gilbert keep an eye on her" she said causing you to chuckle.
"mom we'll be fine" you said before kissing her cheek and getting your coat.
Gilbert followed you outside as he walked next to you. you were just enjoying each other's company while walking towards the train station.
Gilbert put his arm around you pulling you close. you look up to him and smile feeling your cheeks heat up.
when both get on a train as you sit down next to him. "I'm so tired," you said yawning.
Gilbert chuckled as he thought you looked adorable. "you can sleep for a few minutes if you like" he said and you nodded laying your head on his shoulder.
his heart started beating faster at your touch. he brought his hand up to your hair and played with it till you fell asleep. he just stared at you as the sunlight fell onto your face.
"you're breathtaking" he whispered underneath his breath so you wouldn't hear.
"Y/n we're here" he said nudging your shoulder. you woke up not knowing what year it was. you blinked a few times as you lifted your head from Gilbert's shoulder.
you followed him onto the station. "where do you need to go?" he asked putting his hand on your back leading you away from the train. "the pawn shop" you said looking around.
"it's over there" he said pointing at a small shop. "I have to go but I'll meet you back here in two hours?" he said giving you a smile.
"two hours?" you asked while widening your eyes. "I'm not gonna wait that long I'll come and find you when I'm done" You said causing Gilbert to chuckle.
"okay but be careful" he said as he kissed your cheek.
"bye Gil" you said as you waved at him. he waved back and started walking in the direction of the doctor's office. he smiled at the nickname you gave him as he felt his cheeks turn a light shade of pink.
You walked over to the pawn shop. you started looking around for your mother's necklace. when you found it it was about half an hour later. you quickly paid for it and got out of the shop.
outside the sun was shining as you started walking towards the doctors office. you smiled as you saw Gilbert walking around.
"hey Gil" you said with a small smile. he turned his head in your direction as his eyes lit up when he saw you.
"hey Y/n, did you find whatever you were looking for?" he asked walking over to you and kissed your cheek. you blushed lightly as you nodded.
"can I help you with something?" you asked tilting your head a little to the side.
"I need to clean some stuff but I could use some help." he said scratching his neck.
you followed him into a different room and helped him clean. "what even is this" you chuckled as you held up some sort of tool.
"I don't know, I've never seen Dr. Ward use it" he said chuckling.
you looked at the smile on his face. he looked absolutely adorable. you noticed you were staring at eachother and you cleared your throat.
Gilbert quickly looked back down as he started cleaning again. when you were finished he walked into some room to say goodbye to Dr. Ward. after that you both walked out.
"when is the last train leaving?" you asked as you linked your arm with Gilbert's.
"in an hour," he said smiling at your touch.
"good because I'm starving and there's a bakery over there" you said dragging him along with you towards the bakery.
he chuckled as he gladly followed you. he pulled a chair back for you to sit down. you smiled thinking about how adorable he looked.
he sat down across from you as you ordered a cup of tea and a piece of apple pie. Gilbert ordered the same.
you both stared at each other until the food and drinks arrived.
you immediately took a bite. "hmm this is good" you said with your mouth full.
Gilbert looked at you with sparkling eyes as he thought you looked cute. he wanted this day to never end.
after you both finished your food and drinks you just chatted.
"Y/n... I was hoping we could do this again sometime. I enjoy your company" he smiled at you as you nodded.
"of course" you said returning his smile. you stared at eachother in silence until he suddenly widened his eyes.
"We have to go or we'll miss the last train" he said standing up. your eyes shot up towards the clock and you quickly stood up.
Gilbert took your hand and dragged you out of the bakery as you both ran towards the station.
"all aboard!" you heard someone yell as Gilbert quickly hopped on. you suddenly noticed your bag wasn't on your shoulder.
you started looking around. "Gilbert I forgot my bag" you say slightly panicking when he yelled at you to hop on.
"what?" he said as he looked around the station.
"I can't leave without my bag." you say.
"we can't miss this train!" he yelled.
"all aboard final call" you heard in the distance.
"Gilbert!" you yelled. he looked around and sighed as he hopped of the train.
"seriously Y/n!?" he said annoyed. "now we can't get back home!" he ran his fingers through his hair as the train left behind him.
"Im sorry but I can't leave my bag here" you said slightly annoyed by his yelling.
"How can you be so stupid to just leave it!" he looked at you while you frowned at his mean words.
"this isn't all my fault!" you yelled back at him.
he raised his eyebrows. "so it's my fault that you forgot your bag?" he asked.
"I never said that!" you yelled.
he sighed and scratched his neck. "We'll have to get a hotel room" he said starting to walk back towards the bakery.
you quickly grabbed your bag from under the table and checked your belongings. you didn't say a word as you and Gilbert walked towards the nearest hotel.
"how can I help you two?" the man behind the counter asked looking at you and Gilbert.
"we would both like a room." he said. the man nodded and gave you both a receipt.
you widened your eyes as you whispered to Gilbert. "I can't afford that" you had a panicked expression on your face.
Gilbert sighed. "we'll only be getting one room" he said to the man behind the counter. you handed back the receipt as the man was slightly annoyed.
Gilbert paid the man as he got a key handed to him. you took out your wallet and gave Gilbert half the amount of money from the room.
Gilbert didn't look at you as you both walked up the stairs. Gilbert unlocked the door and walked in. he sighed. "there's only one bed" he said not looking at you.
"oh" you said closing the door. you blushed as you knew you had to sleep with Gilbert next to you. you mentally scolded yourself for forgetting your bag and not taking more money with you.
It was almost time to get to sleep as you cleaned your face. Gilbert was sitting on the bed looking out the window.
you sighed. "I hope my mother doesn't get too worried" you say chuckling. Gilbert rolled his eyes.
you frowned. "are you really mad at me for forgetting my bag?" you asked as he looked up.
"yes. I just don't understand how you could be so stupid" he says with a frown. "You dragged me along with you before I could even think about my bag." you yell.
"Don't you dare blame this on me" he said with fire in his eyes.
"I'm not but you're being mean to me for forgetting something and stuff like that happens sometimes." you looked at him as you thought he was acting ridiculous.
"How am I being mean?" he asked frowning again.
"You called me stupid. twice. and you keep yelling and glaring at me." tears were forming in your eyes.
Gilbert's expression softed as he realized he hurt you. "I'm so sorry" he said standing up and laying a hand on your shoulder.
"I'm just a little freaked out by the situation" he said while he scratched his neck and looked over at the bed. "You see I planned out this whole day and then it didn't go as planned and I freaked out, I should've have reacted that way" he said as you squeezed his hand gently.
"it's okay Gil but we're fine I don't understand why you're freaking out it's not like we have to sleep on the streets" you said as you chuckled to lighten the mood.
"do you have any idea how terrifying it is to sleep next to the person you love?" he asked, immediately widening his eyes and throwing his hand in front of his mouth.
you gasped as you widened your eyes. "you love me?"
Gilbert started to panic as he tried to say something. "I uhh I can't... I can't believe I just... I just said that..." he stuttered while his face flushed red.
you took his hands and squeezed them gently. "I love you too Gil" you said letting go of one of his hands to cup his face.
you let your fingers trace his cheek as he shivered under your touch. he blushed as he looked at you with his heart eyes. he put his hand on your waist pulling you closer as he stared at your lips slowly leaning in.
his lips collided with yours as you softly ran your fingers through his hair. fireworks of emotions exploded in your stomach as Gilbert deepened the kiss.
you needed to break away for air as Gilbert looked at you with a grin on his face. his eyes were sparkling as he held on to your waist. he wrapped his other arm aroud your waist as well as you wrapped both your arms around his neck.
"my mother is going to kill you," you whispered as you chuckled.
"worth it."

Unaware | Gilbert Blythe
Ruby thinks that she has finally caught Gilbert's eye, unaware that she's not the one he's been looking at.
Pairing(s): Gilbert Blythe/fem!reader Word Count: 1.8k Genre: fluff for the reader, angst for Ruby
Tumblr media
Ruby Gillis had always hoped that Gilbert Blythe would look at her in a different way; she had liked him for years and hoped that eventually he would realize that he liked her too, but he had never done anything to make her think that. Until one day.
It just seemed like any other day of school. Ruby had talked to her friends before class started; then exchanged a few notes with the girl sitting next to her, (Y/N) (Y/L/N), telling each other funny things they weren’t allowed to speak out loud; and now she was trying to solve the math problem on her slate, finally paying attention in class.
It was when she was almost at the end of the problem that she felt it; that feeling of being watched. Ruby looked to her side quietly and saw Gilbert looking discreetly at her, a certain intensity in his eyes.
The girl turned her gaze quickly back to her slate, feeling her cheeks warming up slightly before she glanced at him again. He was still staring, a smirk growing on his face. Ruby tried to hide her blushing cheeks behind her blond hair. Why was he looking at her? Looking at her like that? She wanted to giggle but managed to hold it to herself, just letting a smile appear on her lips. He was finally looking at her in a different way.
As Ruby's imagination worked non-stop, she failed to notice the discreet glances that (Y/N) - the girl Gilbert was really looking at - was giving him, a grin on her lips, though she tried to hide it.
(Y/N) knew since the first day of school that she shouldn’t talk or become friends with Gilbert Blythe; Anne was very welcoming to her when (Y/N) first arrived in Avonlea and made sure to warn her about anything that could lead her to have a problem with the other girls in the school. (Y/N) thought it was dumb, that whole story about having dibs on someone, but she wanted to be friends with those girls so she just kept quiet about it. She was sure she could keep her distance from this Blythe boy... Until he talked to her.
The first time they interacted was during a walk to school. (Y/N) was unaware that he lived near her, well, as near as anyone could live to someone else in that town since the houses were far apart from each other.
The point was: they took the same path to go to school and it would be just awkward if (Y/N) ignored the boy the whole way every day. So they started talking to each other, at least when they were alone. Gilbert somehow seemed to know that if she talked to him in front of the other girls that wouldn’t end well for her, so they were never seen together.
Their friendship grew over the next few months and the only person who knew about it was Bash, mostly because Gilbert would oftenly invite her to come to his house after school. (Y/N), however, began to feel conflicted when her feelings for the Blythe boy stopped being just friendly. (YN/) had wondered several times if she hadn’t gone too far with this association she had with Gilbert, but things changed when she found out that he also had feelings for her.
Just as no one knew about their friendship, everything that came after that was also a secret. It was kind of upsetting for (Y/N) not to be able to tell any of her friends when Gilbert asked her on a date; she wanted to express to someone how surprised and joyful she felt. And later on, she wanted someone to tell how sweet the boy was during the picnic he’d planned.
(Y/N) wanted to try to explain how ecstatic she felt when they officialized their relationship after a few more dates. She also wanted to tell a friend that she did feel guilty knowing that Ruby liked him, but that Gilbert made her forget all about it when they were together.
But mostly, she really wanted to share the feeling of happiness and fear (Y/N) felt when she had her first kiss with Gilbert last night. She wanted to talk about the glorious feeling of butterflies in her stomach and how she shivered slightly as Gilbert took her hand in his.
Still, (Y/N) could handle a little more secrecy, especially now that she was sitting in the classroom right next to Ruby. The last thing she wanted was to cause a heart break in the other girl. So (Y/N) just shook her head slightly, a grin appearing on her face when she saw the smirk Gilbert was giving her across the room; memories of the kiss they’d shared the night before going through her mind before she looked back at her slate.
Meanwhile, totally unaware of the relationship between Gilbert and (Y/N), Ruby kept wondering why the Blythe boy had begun to notice her just now. And this kind of thoughts kept popping up in her mind in the following weeks, just as her hopes gradually increased.
She was so sure and felt so flustered when she kept catching him looking toward her; during class, or when she was just hanging out with her friends; what Ruby failed to notice was that everytime that happened, (Y/N) was around.
Once, during recess, Ruby noticed the boy looking at her and her friends, and - for the first time - she didn’t look at him quietly, she made sure he knew she was looking back. And when the boy noticed it, he turned away quickly. After a few moments, Ruby saw him trying to suppress a smile, but he didn’t succeed. Gosh, he was so cute.
Of course Ruby had misunderstood the meaning of it all, again. Gilbert wasn’t being so discreet when looking at (Y/N) this time, and when he saw that Ruby had caught him doing it he turned his face, not really wanting Ruby Gillis to be the first to find out about him and (Y/N).
At that point, they were already planning to tell their friends about them. The good part about having a secret relationship was that things didn’t get complicated between them because no one could interfere; still, Gilbert longed to finally be able to talk to the girl he liked so much in front of others and to hold her hand in public. And it was exactly the thought of that happening soon that made a soft smile appear on Gilbert's lips.
The worst thing, however, was that Ruby's hopes only grew, and when some of them - including (Y/N) and Gilbert - were invited to a ball at the Barry's, Ruby was already quite sure that the Blythe boy wanted her. So she made sure she dressed to impress.
From the moment she'd set foot in the Barry's house, the only thing she thought of was Gilbert, and how that could be the night, their night. Ruby looked cute and she was sure he would be dashing - as he always was. So when she saw him across the room as she talked to Diana, Anne, and (Y/N), the girl felt her heart skip a beat, a confident smile widening on her face.
Gilbert was talking to someone else and seemed momentarily breathless when he spotted the familiar group of girls before smiling and waving at them. Ruby giggled before waving back, noticing that the other girls were also waving at him.
"He looks so handsome." Ruby said dreamily to her friends.
(Y/N) sighed slightly, wishing she could agree with Ruby out loud and perhaps add some more compliments herself.
The Gillis girl looked at him again. The boy kept talking, but would often turn his gaze to the girls before returning to the conversation. Ruby smiled to herself, pretending to pay attention to what Anne and Diana were talking about, that would certainly be the night.
While Ruby was thinking about how to approach him, Gilbert excused himself from the conversation he was having, meeting (Y/N)'s eyes. He discretely nodded to the back door, making it clear to her that he wanted to meet outside. (Y/N) gave him a small smile before turning to her friends.
"I’m going to get something to eat, don’t wait for me." (Y/N) said quickly, getting nods from her friends, and making her way through the crowd, going to the door.
Ruby pretended to pay attention to the other two girls for just a few more seconds before turning to where Gilbert was, seeing that he was no longer there. The Gillis girl's eyes widened, searching for the boy in that huge room. It took a few seconds, but Ruby's eyes met his before he snuck out of the party with that smirk on his face. The girl felt her heart skip a beat as a thought went through her mind, that the little glance they took at each other could mean that he wanted her to follow him, that he might want to meet her alone.
A smile widened on her lips, unaware that it wasn’t her that the boy was going to meet outside the Barry's house. After straightening her hair, Ruby began to walk quickly toward the door, unaware that at that very moment Gilbert was placing a small flower in another girl's hair as she laughed. Ruby stopped in front of the door, her hands shaking with excitement, unaware that Gilbert was lifting (Y/N)'s chin so she would look at him. And then the Gillis girl took a deep breath, totally unaware that at that moment Gilbert was softly pressing his lips against (Y/N)'s, making their hearts beat faster and, at the same time, make them feel calm for being with each other.
And then Ruby finally opened the door, her eyes searching for Gilbert, and her smile fading from her face when she found him. Her heart broke as she saw (Y/N) pull away from the kiss, a small smile on her lips; Ruby could feel the tears starting to run down her face as Gilbert chuckled, leaning his forehead against (Y/N)'s, their eyes still closed as he stroked her cheek gently.
Ruby couldn’t hold back a sob, which caused Gilbert and (Y/N) to immediately turn to the source of the noise. (Y/N)'s eyes widened as she saw who was there, the feeling of panic and guilt replacing the calm she was feeling a few seconds ago.
Although Gilbert was also feeling a small sense of panic for being caught, he didn’t let it show, as always thinking of something that might soothe the situation. But - for the first time - Ruby wasn’t interested in what he had to say, she couldn’t focus on the words that came from Gilbert's lips - lips that were kissing (Y/N) a few moments ago -, too busy trying to deal with the mixed feelings of anger, jealousy and heartbreak. Her hopes were growing little by little over the past few weeks, only to end up being destroyed at once.

Gilbert Blythe x Fem!Reader
summary: Reader is found in a barn, by Sebastian, with a fever . When he brings her to the Blythe’s house, doctor Blythe steps in to help.
genre: fluff
warnings: none
request: yes / no
word count: 1,346
A/N: i have been having, yet another, awae phase so my mind is filled with Gilbert Blythe. I’m sorry i’m shoving these imagines down your throats. I do hope you like this one though. My masterlist should be up soon!
part 2?
Tumblr media
Sebastian's coat clutched his body while his arms rubbed his sides. It was a cold winter in Avonlea. He was going out back to check out the barn for something to keep warm. As he entered he saw things scattered everywhere then, what he had come for, a pile of blankets.
As he grabbed a hold of them he noticed an added weight. Sebastian pulled harder only to hear a groan of protest. He stopped in his tracks, eyes widening. He grabbed the edge of the blanket, slowly peeling it back only to find a little girl curled underneath.
The girl looked about Gilbert's age and she was incredibly pale. Thinking fast Sebastian picks up the girl in his arms. She is very warm, making him rush to get back to the house. He kicks open the door which startles Gilbert as he is doing his homework at the table.
“Wha- Bash? Wait, who is that?” He stood up as Sebastian brought her into a room. He set her on the bed softly as to not disturb her unconscious body. “Bash!” Gilbert yelled at him, finally making Bash turn away from the girl.
“I-i found her in the barn. S-she’s really pale and warm a-and i didn’t know what to do!” He yells out. Gilbert inspects the unconscious girl from the door frame before stepping inside and coming beside the bed to take a closer look.
He puts his cold hand on her forehead, quickly finding it burning. Even in sleep the girl moves towards the coolness of his hand. Gilbert brings his hand away from her moistaning face. “She has a fever.”
Bash eyes widen as he begins to panic. “Can you get me a wet rag, specifically tepid temperature, and some water?” Gilbert gives orders which Sebastian quickly follows.
When Bash returns with the request, Gilbert is swift to act. He sets the rag on the girl’s forehead. He softly grabs her chin to tilt it back and squeezes her cheeks a little, somewhat opening her mouth. He slowly pours a bit of water into her mouth.
The girl quickly swallowed, producing a smile to form on Gilbert’s lips. “She’ll wake up soon, but for now she must rest.” Bash nodded and headed out the door. Gilbert looked at the sleeping girl one more time before leaving as well.
Y/N woke up in warmth. This was unusual because she never felt such comfort in the morning. She smiled as she moved away from the bright light in her face. There was a creak which made her open her eyes.
Suddenly she felt too warm and uncomfortable. She was in an unknown place, in an unknown bed. Y/N sat up only for a wet rag to fall onto her lap which wetted the covers she was under. Y/N quietly got out of the hot bed, the cool air welcoming her.
Whoever brought her here could be a kidnapper or a pervert. They could have been nice people just trying to help, but Y/N wasn’t thinking right at the moment.
She tried to silently walk out of the room, but the floors would creak under each step. Normally Y/N would have been smart about this (or so she hoped) now, though, she didn’t feel well and wasn’t in the right mind.
So instead she ran right out of the room and into a hallway. As she entered what seemed to be the kitchen she saw two figures sitting. Without thinking, again, she headed towards another door that seemed to be the exit.
“Miss wait!-” The call went on deaf ears as she opened the door and tried to make a run. A chill was sent up her spine as she felt the wisp air of winter only to be pulled back inside by arms wrapped around her waist.
Y/N struggled in the boys arms. “Miss please calm down. I’m only trying to help.” He whispered in her ear. With a sniff she went limp in his arms, forcing him to basically carry her. He brought her to a chair and sat her down.
“W-where am i?” Y/N's voice was soft and slurred. “You're at my house. Sebastian,” He pointed to his friend off to the side, “he found you in our barn and brought you here. You are sick, so i -well we- couldn’t just throw you out.”
She nodded at his answer before asking another question. “Who a-are you?” He smiled, “I’m Gilbert. Gilbert Blythe. And may i ask what your name is?” Gilbert seemed to be nice and trustworthy enough for her to tell him so, she told him. “Y/N.”
Gilbert’s face morphed into confusion. “Don’t you have a surname?” She simply shook her head no. Y/N began to look around the room as Gilbert went over to the stove. It seemed to be a fairly nice home. A little small, but big enough for a family to live in. Family. Wouldn’t that be nice.
Gilbert once again came in front of her this time with a cup of tea in hand. He brought a chair beside her and sat down, Sebastian sitting across the table just observing.
“Drink this. It might not help.” He passed the tea to her. She mumbled out a thank you before drinking. Gilbert and Sebastian were watching her every move, making her very uncomfortable.
“Please stop staring.” Y/N kindly asked them, looking at the floor. She felt both their eyes wander away from her form then continued with her tea. After some time she finished and put the tea on the table.
Once more eyes were on her. “Can you please tell me why i found you in the bloody barn?” It was Sebastian who talked this time. With his words Y/N felt suddenly very self conscious of the dirty dress she wore.
“I-i ran away.” Both had shock and confusion written on their faces, so Y/N continued. “I lived in a cruel home. Unlike your very nice, very warm home. I couldn’t deal with it any longer so I ran away. I don’t know how long i’ve been gone, but i don’t think they will care anyway.” She paused to take a breath, “I’ve been hiding in shacks and abandon houses then i came across your barn and was- wasn’t thinking, i also wasn’t feeling well, so i thought ‘i’ll just take a quick nap’ then i woke up in this house. I am terribly sorry for the intrusion and if you wish for me to leave i will .”
Both men paused for a second, almost questioning if her rambling was over. “It truly is okay. You were, and still are, very sick. It would be callous of me- us to throw you back into the cold in the condition you are in.” Gilbert spoke calmly as if not to spook the girl.
Y/N could almost cry for joy. Finally she could have one day of not scrounging for food and a place to sleep. She quickly stood, startling the pair, and hugged Gilbert. “Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you!”
He chuckled before shrugging to a confused Bash and hugging back. “It’s quick alright.” He pulled away from her arms, “Now go back to bed, please. You need rest and i will see you at dinner.” She smiled at him, Gilbert smiling right back.
“Okay!” Y/N started towards the room before turning back around once more. “Thank you again and i will see at dinner, Mr. Blythe.” With that she ran to the room and tucked herself into the warm covers.
Back in the kitchen both Gilbert and Bash were chuckling at the girl. “Do you think that was the right choice?” Gilbert asked, suddenly serious. Bash looked at him with a smile, “I think it’s a great decision. She will definitely make better company than you.”
Gilbert shook his head as Bash laughed. He looked to the now closed door with a smile. Yes, this is a good idea.
      Right?

In which Gilbert gives Anne a birthday gift
The golden Avonlea sun had begun to dip below the horizon, signifying the near end of a positively perfect day. Like a flickering candle, dripping hot wax onto a yellowed envelope. And admiring the painted sunset was a young girl, newly 16, who’s hair matched the fiery hues in the sky.
Anne’s heart-and after all those sweets, stomach as well-was full to bursting. Her dress flowed and bounced with the wind as she skipped towards Green Gables, her head in the clouds. In fact, her imagination and pure joy had her so caught up, she didn’t notice the hesitant footsteps behind her, until they were right next to her.
“Hello Anne.”
Anne let out a quite unladylike shriek and whipped her head to the side, scowling. “Gilbert Blythe! You can’t just sneak up on a person like that!”
“I called your name three times,” Gilbert laughed. It was a laugh of both boyish tomfoolery and a newer, wiser burning. A laugh that Anne felt the need to inspect and pick apart, like a scientist dissecting a plant.
“Well, I clearly didn’t hear you.”
Gilbert held up his hands in defeat, before bringing one down to scratch his neck nervously.
Anne raised an eyebrow. “Well? I don’t suppose you just wanted to frighten me, what is it?”
Gilbert shoved a hand into his pocket and began shuffling around anxiously. “I um, just, uh...” He removed a worn, brown box from his pocket and held it out, trying to force down the blush creeping up his face.
Anne’s face softened, but the rest of her body heated up, like it did whenever Gilbert did something of this sort. She didn’t quite understand why. Her mind threatened to hammer down the dam she’d built years ago as a form of protection against one Gilbert Blythe. But she stamped it downs’s “Gilbert, I can’t-“
“Just, please take it Anne.”
“But-“
“It’s your birthday.” His eyes were now dripping honey that deeper into the cracks in her dam.
Anne took the box from him, her hands lingering ever so slightly as they brushed against his own. She lifted the lid and took in a sharp breath. “Oh, this is too much, I can’t accept this.”
“Well I’m not taking it back,” Gilbert chuckled apprehensively.
“But it must’ve cost you a fortune!” Anne protested, still not lifting her gaze from the gift, tucked between protective foam, an unspoken profession.
Gilbert hesitated before saying his next words. He didn’t want to scare Anne off, and he’d learnt to choose his words carefully around her, well aware that the smallest drop of water could trigger a whirling waterfall. But he wasn’t one to lie. He lifted his gaze from the dirt floor and into her eyes, wishing he could convey his heart with a simple expression. “You’re worth any cost, Anne. Truly.”
Anne lifted a delicate golden pendant from the box, admiring the way it reflected in the evening sun. A small, pink heart hung from the delicate chain, swinging ever so slightly. “It’s exquisite,” she breathed, letting the phrase hang in the air, a tapestry adorned with her truest thoughts, before continuing, afraid to say her next words. “Do you really think I’m worth all that?” She asked, her uneasily quiet voice laced with uncertainty and anticipation.
Gilbert furrowed his brow, baffled that she still didn’t realize how important and wonderful she was. “Of course,” he said. “That, and so much more.”
A sheepish smile adorned Anne’s freckled face. For a moment the two stood in a comfortable silence, relishing in the way the retreating sunlight accentuated the other’s features. Anne tilted her head, her eyes falling upon Gilbert’s. She delved deeper into his heart that dangled at the edge of his sleeve, hoping, yet also terrified, to find what she was looking for. A voice danced in the back of her mind, Ruby’s. Maybe there was romance in his eyes after all. But she didn’t notice it, he’d always looked at her the same way.
Anne raised herself up on her toes, and pressed her lips to Gilbert’s cheek. It happened so fast, any onlookers wouldn’t have noticed. A fleeting moment. A hummingbird leaping from branch to branch, his tiny wings moving so fast, they seem to not be there at all.
“Thank you, Gilbert,” she whispered, before scurrying off home.
Yes, anyone watching from afar wouldn’t have seen it, but the effect would linger on Gilbert for several days. He lifted his hand to his cheek with a dazed smile, and turned around, heading home with a whistle on his lips and a flutter in his heart.

Dating Gilbert was amazing. He was such a lovely guy. Even your parents adored the boy.
He was so sweet, and you two had so much in common it was like you were made for one another.
Unfortunately, his father had gotten sick and later on passed away.
You, of course, were there to comfort him with open arms. When you were at his house one day, he told you that he wanted to explore the world for some time.
As much as it made you upset for him to leave, you supported him, as you always would. You assured him that you would be find, and that it would be a wonderful experience for him.
You spent the night with him, enjoying each other's presence before he left the next day. He promised to write to you about everything and you promised to write anything interesting that happens.
Tumblr media
"Ughh," you groan dropping back onto Anne's bed.
You, Anne, Diana, and Cole were hanging out at the redheads house.
"Y/n? What's wrong?" Diana asks.
"I miss Gilbert, it feels like it's been forever," you sigh.
Cole frowns, "Well, he can't be gone for much longer, it's already been months."
Anne nods excitedly, "Exactly!"
You sit up and your mood brightens a bit, "I suppose you're right. Now shall we bake something?"
They nod and giggle as they go downstairs.
"Hi, Marilla!" you smile happily at the elder woman you've grown close with.
"Oh! Hello, dear," she smiles back.
"Hi, Ms. Cuthbert," Diana and Cole wave.
"Hello. What brings you all down here?"
"We were wondering if we can bake your famous apple pie," you clap your hands.
"Oh, how can I say no to apple pie?"
Tumblr media
Gilbert runs a hand over his face as he sits on his bed next to Sebastian.
"What is the matter, my friend?"
Gilbert looks over to the man, "I miss my girlfriend," he sighs.
"Girlfriend?" He raises his eyebrows, "Is this the person you are always writing to? The one who send the letters that have you all red in the face."
Gilbert laughs, "Yeah, that would be her."
"Hm," Sebastian taps his knee. "You love this girl?"
Gilbert nods, "Very much so."
"So what are you doing here? Go back to her!"
"But..."
"Gilbert, you are a great boy. You love her and I see how upset you are without her. So go," Sebastian smiles at him.
"You're right," Gilbert falls back onto his bed.
Tumblr media
You were reading your book when you heard a knock on your door. "Mom! Who's at the door?!"
She didn't hear you, apparently, because you got no response. You huff and mark your page, putting the book aside.
You get up and run your hands over your dress. You walk downstairs and to the door. You open it and you are crushed by a hug.
"Gilbert!" You squeeze him tightly in a hug. Both of your eyes water and you pull him inside, closing the door behind you. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, darling," he grabs your hands.
"How are you? How was traveling? How come you're back early? How-"
He cuts you off by kissing you softly. You melt into his hold and kiss him back.
You pull away and he grins. "I'm great, now. Traveling was eye opening. And I'm back early because I came home for you. I just got back and I came straight here, I haven't even gone to my own house yet."
"I love you so much," your lips curve into a bright smile.
"I love you so much more," he kisses your head. "I have something for you," he takes something out of his pocket.
You gasp as you look at the beautiful ring in his hand. "Don't worry," he laughs, "it's not an engagement ring. It's a promise ring. To remind you that no matter where I am, we are always forever."
"Oh, Gilbert, it's wonderful. Thank you," you blow out a breath.
He takes your hand and slides it onto your ring finger. He brings your hand up to his face and kisses your palm.
He looks up into your eyes with love, "One day, I'll replace that with a real ring."

Can you write Gilbert x fem!reader courting Headcannons?
Gilbert Blythe x Reader
[FLUFF]
- - -
we all know Gilbert is a gentleman
he would never dare do or say anything to make you uncomfortable
that being said, he was always careful around you; whether it's a chaperoned meeting or not
for example the first time he suggested that he walk you home he made sure to choose his words wisely
"if you would like, could I please walk you home?" he said quietly so no one heard
he didn't want you to have the pressure of people watching you in case you didn't accept his offer
"you're more than welcome to decline," he added, a smile appearing on his face
he knew that sometimes the boys in the school felt entitled, so he feared that you would say yes out of politeness or necessity
however, you two almost being adults now and finishing school, he decided he would just make a move already, not even caring if he was rejected - at least that way he would know he needed to move on
"it would be my pleasure to have you escort me home," you responded
you had been waiting for this moment ever since Tilly had started getting noticed by boys
the two boys fighting over Tilly's attention caused a domino effect of all the guys acting on their affections
it was only a matter of time before Gilbert finally swallowed his pride and asked you
everybody had a subconscious inkling that they should not ask to walk you home - obviously Gilbert lay no claim over you, as did no one else, but it has been a long going theory that you two would end up together
so, as you two walked home, Gilbert holding your basket in his left hand, and your arm holding onto his right elbow, practically the whole school stood watching
whispers of "i knew it!" and "you owe me" could be heard amongst them
"alright, alright, everybody make your way home now," said miss stacey as she tried to get through the big group of students blocking the doorway
now onto the serious business
Gilbert had wanted to meet your parents as soon as possible since it was the proper and gentlemanly thing to do
he brought hand picked flowers for your mother, offering her a kind smile and a bow as he was welcomed inside
a beautiful pink tulip stood in his own jacket pocket as he presented it to you
"for the beautiful lady," he said
your parents, of course, loved him
there was nothing to dislike
him and your father babbled on about farm work and business plans
him and your mother talked about school and studies, him mentioning how he wanted to become a doctor
this undoubtedly impressed them
"a doctor! oh how pleasant - where are you planning to study?" they asked frantically
you begged them to not bombard him with questions but he assured you it was okay
the night ended with Gilbert promising to return, letting your mother know he would bring her some of Sebastian's spices for his next visit
come spring, Gilbert invited you to join him at the carnival
this was your first chaperoned visit outside the home, so it was quite a big deal
it was also the first time you'd officially confirm to Avonlea that you two were courting
you were nervous to say the least
you had worn your best dress, and finally being old enough, your mother helped you put on your corset
you looked positively sophisticated
your hat placed gently on your head, you climbed into the carriage, Gilbert grasping your hand in his to help you up as he followed soon after
it was no surprise to the citizens of Avonlea that you came together, however the presence of the Charlottetown people and others from beyond the county had made you feel overwhelmed
you hooked your arm around Gilbert's, letting him lead you deeper into the festivities
feeling your worry he placed his hand upon yours, squeezing it ever so slightly before letting go
the rest of the evening was filled with him competing in games just to win you little gifts
on one instance he came up to you, face smug with his hands hidden behind his back
"pick a side"
"hmm... left," you had said
he revealed his left hand, showing that it was empty
this was followed by him popping out his right hand with a little fluffy dog plushie as he shook it slightly in his hand
"wrong. i guess i get to keep it now," he said sarcastically
you laughed at his antics, slapping his arm affectionately
there was never a dull moment that day, especially with him complimenting you each and every moment
all of Avonlea (and more) now knew that you and Gilbert were taken, and if it wasn't obvious by anything else that i've said, it definitely became evident by the 5 millionth time that Gilbert would introduce you to people as "charming", "gorgeous", "lovely" or any other word in his expansive vocabulary
he is the king of praising istg he would not shut up about you the whole night
Gilbert made sure to always let you know that he only ever had his eyes on you, and that no woman could ever compare to you
he had a way to make you always feel special
whether it be finding flowers for you, cooking for you, helping you study, etc.
your first ever unchaperoned visit came a while after
it was after you guys had graduated and received your exam results
your parents felt you were old and mature enough, and they trusted Gilbert wholeheartedly to let you finally have tea together
Gilbert decided to take you to a beautiful café in Charlottetown called Great Aunt Anne's
he of course insisted on paying even though you told him it wasn't necessary
"what kind of a future husband would I be if I didn't make sure my lady was taken care of?"
future husband
at this you blushed deeply, just now realizing that he planned on proposing eventually
it didn't hit you until now but this newfound knowledge made you excited for your future with him
the date consisted of many laughs and jokes, your conversations leading you anywhere and everywhere
once dessert arrived he plucked a piece of whipped cream off his pie and smushed it onto your nose, laughing as he did so
"so childish, Blythe," you had said
at the end he escorted you home on the train, and waited with you for your carriage to come
you told him you'd be okay on your own from here but he didn't feel comfortable making you go home on your own
so as he walked you to your door, his hand itching to hold yours, he stopped you in your tracks to turn you towards him
"I meant what I said," he started, "I do intend to marry you one day. maybe not now, or any time soon, but if you'll have me, I will make you a promise that one day I will be yours forever"
he leaned in slowly, his hand reaching to the back of your neck as he pulled you in
"can I?"
with a hasty nod, you pulled him in by his jacket, your lips finally meeting in desperation
you had waited so long to do that
and now as you went to your bedroom, giddy as a schoolgirl, you plopped onto your bed and sighed
being future Mrs. Blythe sounded really good to you...

An (Un)Fortunate Lily Maid by celluloiddreams
Post Season 3 one-shot. Takes place four months after the 3.10 finale.
Relationships: Gilbert Bylthe/Anne Shirley-Cuthbert
Characters: Gilbert Blythe, Anne Shirley-Cuthbert
Anne almost drowns and Gilbert has to save her, leading to a deeper conversation.  This is a lovely oneshot; I think Anne’s character is really captured here, especially a more mature Anne.

Tutor time (Gilbert Blythe x Fem!Reader)
Pairing: Gilbert Blythe x Fem!Reader
Warnings: None :)
Request: Nope
A/N: THIS IS PART ONE OF THREE PARTS. MWAHAHAH
Part two here
Part three up on my tumblr!
Tumblr media
"London," you answered confidently, to an eruption of cheers from the girls.
It was a school day, and Mr Philips had decided to set you up against Gilbert Blythe, your academic nemesis, to see who would triumph as the best student.
But little did he know of your secret stupid crush on Blythe - what could you say? You liked to be challenged!
You were brought out of your daydream by Mr Philips.
"Miss Y/S/N... Miss Y/S/N?" Mr Philips repeated.
"Anyway, as I was saying," continued Gilbert, a smug smile on his face, "23,"
He glanced at you to see your reaction as one half of the schoolroom burst into raucous whoops. You were rolling your eyes, confident of your victory over Gilbert. He was doing pretty well though, with that stupid smirk of his every time he answered a question correctly and the way he glanced at you sideways that sent a burst of energy through your body.
"Atlanta,"
"Pythagoras,"
"Reciprocal,"
"Adjective,"
"R-O-M-A-N-T-I-C,"
"Capitalisation,"
"Gold,"
"And finally, Mr Blythe - what was Louis Henry Sullivan's profession?" asked Mr Philips.
"Mathematician," responded Gilbert confidently, his smirk beginning to work its way onto his face.
Mr Philips sighed - "Wrong, Mr Blythe. The answer is-"
"Architect," you blurted out, sticking out your tongue at Gilbert as the girls squealed and the boys sighed.
"Well done Y/N!" Ruby squealed. "You beat Gilbert!"
You were a bit confused - wouldn't Ruby be upset you hadn't let Gilbert win?
"Now he'll come to me for sympathy! Oh, Y/N, I knew I could count on you!" giggled Ruby.
"Look, look Ruby, Gilbert's coming here!" Tilly whisper-shouted.
Gilbert Blythe was indeed walking over, looking at you as he strode across the classroom.
"What do you want, Blythe?" you asked.
He took a deep breath.
"I want... for you to tutor me," he said.
You heard Ruby gasp beside you as you looked up at Gilbert, confused.
"Tutor you? Why would you need tutoring?" you asked.
"Well, didn't you just beat me in that slam-off Y/N?" he laughed.
"Er- I guess I could tutor you, be round at mine by... 5?" you sighed, while squealing internally.
"Sure, see you then," smirked Gilbert, walking off with that damn smirk on his face.
"Blythe," you acknowledged his presence as you opened the door to him.
"Y/N," he smiled as he walked through the door.
"Don't smile that damn smile at me," you grumbled as you led him to your room.
"Sorry, what was that Y/N?" he asked, rushing in front of you to hold open the door.
"Nothing. And this is my room, I think I can open the door myself," you mumbled. As you sat down on your bed and dragged your writing desk in front of you, you sighed. This was going to be a long study session.
