So I made those as requested by abscess chemical on twitter and figured it may be fun to share them on tumblr as well. And you know what? Share a break down of my choices as well, because why not! I tried doing it seriously haha.

Zhou Zishu:

Intense - 6/10: He can be very intense, re the things or people he's invested in, but he also has a chill and detached quality to him, a way of being at peace with things that he won't blow things out of proportions.

Complex - 9/10: I think that he's a very nuanced, multi-faceted and deep character, but I guess I didn't go 10/10 just because there's also a very straightforward and easy to get part of him (esp. from WKX's perspective.

Fruity - 2/10: I think the guy's very gay but not the most bombastic about it LBR.

Angst-lord: although it's not as obvious in TYK, QY gives us some EXTREMELY tasty ZZS angst and a good look into how ZZS can process things through anxiety. It definitely got more lowkey post-QY canon, but...

Flavor container: IDK what that means really but I wanted to tick it

Soft and sweet: I actually didn't check it on the twitter version initially (but published an erratum). He is described as soft on the inside by too many people not to check it.

Braincell haver: self-explanatory, the guy's brilliant

Chew toy: literally!

Tragic backstory: if QY can count as a backstory, then everything that happened with Jiuxiao works.

Frequently violent: duh

Sidekick owner: WKX is ZZS's sidekick from everyone else's perspective (or vice-versa) and my opinion abt it won't change ever.

Pet stray animals: ZCL, for one, and for two we all know he pets cats and raccoons

Chronic insomniac: technically, in TYK, the nails do force the insomnia, but we know from QY that he had a lot of trouble sleeping at night.

Murderer: well

Just some guy 95%: clearly he's a natural-born NPC/side character

Too many thoughts 100%: he overthinks everything!!

Awful company 15%: I think that a goofy drunkard like him is fun but not the best company, especially when he goes all grumpy shifu/shixiong

Beloved by all 60%: most characters REALLY like him (and the others don't even know he exists) and often praise how sweet he is. Charming against his will and attempts at being invisible uwu

Trauma x1000 10%: again, I think that the Jiuxiao story left deep scars.

Helps others for fun 70%: pretty much the plot of TYK

Scary-smart 80%: I think he's really brilliant but then you have these moments where he's just clueless abt stupid stuff and clearly doesn't care/doesn't want to know or try so those 20% left are the deliberate goof I guess.

1000 weapons and tools 50/50: it's both!! every rock is both a tool and a weapon and he just keeps pulling random shit from his bosom--

At peace with life 48%: I think, for the most part, he is--at peace with both life and death, until he decides that keeping on living is just the best option in the end.

Break the rules 80%: I had no idea w this one but... in TYK he pretty much does whatever he wants, so---

Extra comments: The way the "evokes" ticks every boxes for me to various degrees of intensity... sigh It was difficult for the "want them to have" section since I think he has everything post-canon, but I tried seeing it from a mid!canon perspective.

Wen Kexing

Intense - 9/10: While WKX's feelings are generally cold, they seem equally intense to me, just like his eyes or his stare. He's intense about his love, about his revenge, about his plans.

Complex - 6/10: I've had interesting convos about how WKX is... nuanced, of course, but not as complex or deep as it may seem on the surface. That doesn't take anything from how interesting he is, but he is rather straightforward in what he is, ultimately.

Fruity - 8/10: I MEAN--

Enemy of the State: he's literally THE main Jianghu villain

Flavor Container: I still don't know what it means but it felt right once again

Braincell haver: the guy is EXTREMELY smart and outsmarted everyone in TYK so yeah

Tragic backstory: can hardly do worse than parents murdered in front of you, ate your dad to survive, took care of a child in the wildest, most dangerous part of jianghu, fought to reach the top while "serving" the previous master........ He scored it all!

Orphan: again, fully checks out

Frequently violent: yes

Has enemies: in SPADES

Sidekick owner: GX and ZZS are WKX's sidekicks 100%

Murderer: yes

The antagonist of life 70%: had to change from protag to antag because he IS the TYK antagonist (if TYK had been a traditional wuxia from ZCL's perspective...); of course it ends up being subverted but you know

Too many thoughts 75%: I think he's a big thinker as well

Awful company 85%: Let's be real guys

Hated by all 30%: I think he's too underestimated or not even really acknowledged enough to be hated, but I am pretty sure that more people dislike him than the opposite

Trauma x1000 60%: well.......... I think he has a bunch!

Sadistic for fun 15% : I doubt he's one to like helping and we know him to have those sadistic tendencies

Scary-smart 80%: same reasoning as for ZZS

1000 weapons or tools: mostly bare handed for everything save for the occasional whip or walnut shell but---

Enemy of god 35%: I have to be honest I don't really know what that means but I guess he's defied death a few times!!!

Break the rules 95%: WKX shits on the rules

Additional notes:

Mostly ticks everything in the "evokes" categories as well, but I unticked "symptoms of projection" because I don't feel like I project much of anything on WKX... maybe? (save for the ZZS lewding.. LOL) always hard to say, IG we always do a bit of that on every character, eh

and The Horny ofc because i'm kinda known for not really lewding my good WKX atp

I want a lot of things for him during canon, but again, all I can think of is how post-canon WKX really got it and then I gush and am simply happy for him.

First time they shared a bed was bc of some stupid decision made by a student on the same dorm floor as Marly which affected the nearby dormz (still deciding what it is lmao maybe like some sort of fluid spill or messing with the schoolz water system or whatever),, so girl got to go over to Viktor's (I imagine he sleepz somewhere either off school groundz or in the staff building),,,they attempted to have set sides bc this is new stuff to the both of them,,,, that ended quickly when both of them got cold lmaooo

Cue Viktor wrapping his arms around Marly and her pulling him closer to her n him laying his head on her neck or chest because ooohhh they're both freezing but holay molay this position is ong comfortable??

Woahwehhw after that when they do share a bed (or a couch idk),,,, many many cuddlez n kissez with vik laying on marly and being held by her,, she is taking this skinny bony ass man with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They originally decided for Viktor to be the one on top to prevent his leg from getting stuff or anything but good lord this is the comfort he has so desperately needed for soooo long so god forbid Marly change that position

Limbz intertwined (besidez his right leg), burying his face into her neck or chest bc she trustz him with being very touchy with her body (especially her chest area bc shez kinda insecure abt that area),,

Aph wasnt there to build that basement of hers so. Ig she just doesnt have that (if its that important maybe I'll make it so that the villagers built it for her in secret bc they thought she would appreciate it)

But anyway, we properly start off with Aphmau going to sail back to her own village, saying goodbye to Paul (maybe even thanking that messenger idk)

I feel like I havent really mentioned Aph n other villagers working on bettering their town in quite a while, I'll have to clarify that I think

Aphmau arrives at home with no complications (aside from the fact that she was transporting a cat), Garroth n Zenix are not there to greet her bc theyve got guard shit to do, but Kiki n Brendon are! I dont think he'd be fully done w/ his work at tje old Lord's house by now so maybe he can mention something about having a short break and Kiki chastises him for always working wayyy too hard or smth, honestly, Im not too sure about what their sibling dynamic is but whatevs

They walk through the village, chatting and catching up a bit, everyone is rlly happy to see her and stuff

Kiki n Aph drop Brenden off at the ruined house again, maybe they meet Zenix too im not sure yet

Kiki exitedly goes to show her the project with the mine and that flat plaza thingy where they see this stranger called Ethan, just hangin out

She has the same convo w/ this Ethan dude as she does in the OG and goes to do what he asks right away (maybe Kiki helps out too or smth idk)

(Also, I forgot that two of the non-talking NPCs got married, I dont think its really relevant after this but Im mentioning it tl be safe)

After that, ya girl just kinda leaves Kiki to tend to her animals n stuff and goes to look for Garroth, whos now standing around at the beach again

He seems fairly relieved and basically tells her everything he previously told her in the OG (its safer for Aphmau to stay in the village for a while, hes trying to prevent the villagers from giving her an official title, that stuff) and then tells her that theres still no news abt the Lord of Brightport and that Zenix is finishing up the demolition of the Lord's house

Aphmau decides that Hey! I should probably check on Zenix, actually so she goes over to the ruined house and he tells her what he tells her in the OG about needing a key for the cellar

(Brendon also says what he says in the OG)

Aphmau is obviously like "Oh oh yea I have a key hang on!!" and takes it out of her inventory equivalent (gotta figure that part of minecraft out too) since she never left it at her house bc she was immediately caught by Kiki n Brendon and was then busy for basically the whole day

Oh god, I just realised that the weird guard guy in green was not Zenix but some other sketchy guy I'll definitely have to edit my notes

It ends w/ not!Zenix shooting at Zenix n Brendon in the ruin, which is all good and thank god this scene made me realize that those two guys are not the same person lmao

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy Im done for today, time to read some fanfic while falling asleep gn

I’ve been in the hetalia fandom for like a year now and I stg thinking abt what these bitches listen to NEVER gets old

will feature mostly modern day music, like 1950s-2010s

I don’t know a lot of artists that don’t sing in English so there’s probably A LOT that I’m missing on here, not even including shit from like the 1800s

The Allies

Alfred:

Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, Crazy In Love by Beyoncé

- Listens to basically everything, but particular fond of like 80s rock and early 2000s shit

- Likes country music bc ofc he does, a huge fan of Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt, and The Band Perry

- Got his love of rock from England 💀 Especially during the like the 60s-80s when Queen, The Beatles, and Elton John really popular

- They really only bond over their love for this period of music lmao like they would absolutely go ape during karaoke

- He loves more mainstream artists like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, all those iconic mfs

- Probably enjoys old wartime music just for nostalgias sake. Shit from the 40s and he listens to Civil War tunes (Union Dixie lmao)

- Oh boy. He had so much fun in like late 2000s and early 2010s— Panic at the Disco, MCR, Green Day, he absolutely got his ears pierced during this time

toyotaro used to be good but with the super manga hes just shit. There is maybe 1 or 2 good things that are exclusive to the manga that the anime has already covered and they aren't too noticeable. I like Super as an anime and am ready to admit it's flaws but good lord the manga praises vegeta and shits on goku every chance it gets. It's like if the cishet dude bros got their own manga. Ugh I could go on about it but yea vegeta says he risked his life in every battle (z literally shown hes been a prodigy since childhood) and that he never needed anyone for strength (hes using a form he only got due to whis and Goku is literally right there) so it's not great.

thats the major reason i dont want to watch/read super, i can just tell toyotaro wants to suck vegeta’s dick so bad LOL it rly does feel like,,, a betrayal of the source material imo. that’s when happens when u get an author who likes vegeta 😭

lord of the rings - p sure this one is self explanatory but it’s my longest running comfort film(s)

good will hunting - ive actually only seen this once but i was drunk and i cried til i threw up and it’s haunted me ever since

tangled and treasure planet and meet the robinsons and cinderella (2015) - okay im an unfortunate fan of most disney movies but these three Really Just Get Me. it’s about the found families and emotional manipulation and abandonment and the dreaming of More and Better things

Peter Pan (2003) i talked abt this one a few weeks ago but it’s once again about families and fear and ‘to live would be an awfully big adventure’ I think disney’s robin hood fits in for the same reason

yeah okay just like. a lot of disney movies. i wasnt allowed to watch much growing up bc my parents are insane and i also had younger siblings

song of the sea! in a weird way it gave me the same vibes as otgw (which is not on this list bc it’s not technically a movie) it’s about The Siblings and also being a melancholic child

apparently ive now forgotten every movie ive ever seen

okay im realizing a few things.

1) i’ve actually seen a decent number of movies and ive enjoyed them! i rarely REALLY dislike movies! but also, most of them dont have a lasting impact on me. i enjoy them deeply in the moment and get emotional, but after a few weeks they all tend to fade. i do like artsy indie films and (unfortunately) oscar-bait films. there was a small indie theatre in my collegetown with super cheap tickets and i was there multiple times a month to see stuff, bc i would go out in the evenings when i got lonely, and i really enjoyed it! i just dont think it’s shaped me in the same way

2) im much less moved by movies than long-form methods of storytelling like books/podcasts and even tv shows. idk. i guess im always more invested in the story and characters than how visually appealing something is, i never find myself walking out of the theatre talking about cinemetography and soundtrack yknow?

3) most of these are animated children’s films which like, yes i was a repressed child, but also i just think a lot of ‘adult’ live action films struggle to make an impact on me the way children’s films do. a lot of animated kids movies are pure shit, but SOMETIMES, when the filmmakers know what they’re doing, i think serious themes can be explored more interestingly via a child-friendly medium because the writers have to be creative rather than just. grimdark

anyways i love how gon is increasingly approaching situations with his Plucky Shounen Protag Attitude in full swing, and he pretty much gets shot down every time. BUT his general determination to see killua bc killuas his FRIEND and hes gonna RESCUE HIM is still a good and pure motivating force

like here, when hes climbing over the wall and hes like whatever i dont wanna have to deal w/being tested thats bullshit, i wanna see killua, my intentions are pure, im gonna try my luck with the dog....i was like ok yeah he’ll get over and like tame or defeat the dog and the guard will be suitably impressed bc nobodys ever done That before, and then gon will continue on to get killua

but NOPE instead the guard calls him down and explains that gon Will Die if he tries that, and then the guard will die too for letting that happen. and gon is like oh shit my actions have consequences for people other than me, wow.

and THEN the guard takes them in to meet the dog. and hot DAMN that is a scary creature. not even really a dog tbh. they did an excellent job making the dog Legit Scary and not just like, big and flashy looking....those eyes are so soulless, and the proportions are freaky

and the guard says exactly what i was thinking - that gon would use his Country Boy Woodland Creature Skills to workaround the dog....but then the subversion - this creature is NOTHING like the woodland critters gon is probably used to dealing with. theres no way gon stood a chance here. the guard just saved him from a really unfortunate death

i love all the Super Heavy Stuff in the servant house that seems so inconvenient vbhjdkfasjfld. also forgot to mention earlier but the guard guy being Absolutely Ripped was wild and kinda funny

okay so i read through your post multiple times and i still don't understand everything abt the plot but whatever skjdks it does sound really cool tho and not childish! so what are your fave characters in the series and what made you so drawn to the series (other than the heavy plot etc, like what made you go 'this is THE series for me'?)

I originally started reading the books because it was actually part of our curriculum in primary school lol, and we ended up watching some of the anime when it was a rainy day at school.

I think I loved it because of Jasmine, she was just such a cool character. She literally lived in a dangerous forest and didn’t give a shit about anyone’s opinion of her, and her sarcasm was always on point. I guess it goes back to the whole idea of why we need strong female characters, and not just strong physically, but also emotionally.

There was also this character that gets introduced in book 4 of the first series, he was this really mysterious and dangerous dude named Doom of the Hills. Okay so I need to give a little explanation here as well. In Deltora, the Shadow Lord lives in the Shadowlands to the north. There also was an arena there where for entertainment, people would fight against his experimentations and monsters he created. My man here Doom ended up there, and during a fight, he got knocked about pretty badly and ended up experiencing amnesia. He was the first person that managed to escape the Shadowlands, but on his way down through the mountains he took the name Doom since he couldn’t remember his own, and from then on, he started the Resistance movement against the Shadow Lord. I really found him in particular interesting once we start figuring out who he was (which is especially important for the plot), and how he got there to begin with. He was definitely a morally grey character, but it was nice to watch him slowly recover, and deal with his mental health as the series continued even though he was emotionally constipated sometimes. Idk how much I should spoil since it’s a major plot point, but uh yea, it’s some good shit right there 👌🏼

The villains and guardians in general had me interested, like the Shadow Lord, we don’t see much of in Deltora Quest, and there’s this whole aura of mystery. However, once you read the Three Doors Trilogy, also by Emily Rodda, it provides a backstory on who he was before he basically became a god. Idk, I just really appreciated that everything was rounded off, and as far as my memory serves me, I don’t remember any plot holes.

(Sorry you’re asking about characters and I keep on referring to plot lmao)

Anyways, they were mainly the characters that made me go ooOoooh, and I think apart from being forced to read the first book for school, I enjoyed it because of how things were written out. Rodda said herself that she wrote it in a way that a video game is structured with plot and side plots, so I can understand how that would make the reading fast paced and immersive.
