World Praise Day with TF141
GN Reader, no warnings. Could be read as both platonic and romantic. 🤷
Tumblr media
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick did see what was coming. The shit-eating grin on your face spoke loudly. He had a feeling you would make one of your casual "to blow off some steam" jokes until he saw your eyes look him up and down. He choked on thin air.
"Are you checking me out, mate?"
"Your body's a sight for sore eyes. The fair amount of muscle and flush skin." You brought your fingers to your lips, kissing them and flicking your wrist away; you sent him an air kiss. It damaged him as if you called an air strike on the guy.
"Load of bullshit, aren't you?" He laughed, eyes crinkling while he smiled
"There it is!" You threw your hands up in the air. "The beauty my art is inspired from!"
"Shut your trap, geez... Don't bring the sketchbook into this, sappy bastard." As much as he tried to play it cool he was flustered. His face got red and laughter started to sound lighter than ever.
"Love your smile" you say." The way your lips curl upward is mesmerizing. The shade of your lips is pretty by itself." The specific praise was doing things. You knew. He knew.
"About to kiss you with these pretty lips if you do not shut up." He chuckled, smirk wide as ever. He was happy and a kiss would only let you know just how happy you were making him. So when you did not stop, you were made just as happy as he was.
John "Soap" Mactavish had just joined you in the common room, you were ready to attack once you caught a glimpse of his messy mohawk.
"Always taking care of yourself like a good man. Even when it is messy it remains just as pretty. Do you even have bad hair days?" Your smile got wider and wider while you took his startled expression in. He blinked, then smiled brightly. "Would die for your smile, Mactavish. Pretty privileges everyday,"
"Yer aff yer heid, lass/lad. "He laughed hard, smirk bright as the damn sun. "Ya know how it feels tae hae the privilege How's it feel, ay?"
You flushed back at the counter attack and the smile. You were just about to make your own move before he reached for your hand "Haes seen war, aye breathtaking. You'd be mah choice in mah lest breath. If a'm jammy enough tae see ye as th' lest damned thing oan earth, ah'd already hae taken a taste o' heavens."
You stopped functioning. His heavy Scottish accent was getting your head fuzzy. The praise attack you started is getting overpowered by his flirt attack. And boy, he is winning.
"Mactavish." you warn him, yielding. He is too good you fear your face is no different than a tomato right now.
"Yah whit's it? My bad!" He brings your hand to his lips. "Ah cannae use mah bonny privileges now? Na? " Fuck him and his confident smirk. You don't know whether to slap him or kiss him.
Captain John Price had just light up a cigarette, letting it stay in-between his lips while he looked through the reports you just brought in.
"Another successful mission. We nailed the mission, captain. Saved our asses, without lead we'd be dead." Praising his work did little, but you had to start somewhere. He gave a tight lipped smile, exhaling the smoke. "Your hat's fitting you nicely, sir. The way it casts a shadow over your temple brings your eyes out. A sight, it is."
He grumble-laughs. You don't know which. You'll go with the latter though. "Your beard, too. Gathers your features together Strict 'n all?"
He dismisses you with a nod and a forced smile. You can see his eyes doing best to not look at you. "Can I get started on your scent?"
"Don't." he snorts, raising his one hand up to rub his temples, tilting his head down. You were about to yield until you notice he was actually trying to suppress a smile.
"I'd do just about anything to see that smile, sir. Makes me proud of myself." You blurt out, because you are willing to take your chances.
"Lovely cheeky thing "he chuckles, blush covering his entire face. "Pretty personality to match your face. You are a strong soldier, I am always proud of you."
Your smile widens.
"Happy world praise day, love." your smile falters, you end up laughing because he knew what you were at but despite it all he still let you humour him.
"Not a single word was a lie."
"As was mine. Back to work, love."
You shake your head, walking out of the office. Today's been very efficient so far.
Simon "Ghost" Riley was cleaning his gun while you were sitting across from him, sewing shut a gash on your uniform. You stole a few glances before collecting enough courage to speak. You were a brave soldier. Bravest of them all. You surely could praise the man before you with that courage.
"Good work" You beam "So fast too."
"Is all experience." He grunts. "You'd be fast too if your hand got on one of these." He had a tinge of sarcasm in his voice.
You had a feeling it was because you dislocated your shoulder in the last mission while using a rifle. It was bad luck. Not like you were that inexperienced. He just liked to toy with you.
"You are the best, lieutenant. I don't have to do much with cleaning."
"Because?"
"You clean the battlefield well enough for us all."
"As I should." So praising his work wouldn't work. "Your eyes, always so expressive. You like our banters, sir?"
"Naturally." He scolds, hands fidgeting with the gun.
"I like your presence. You are safe. You are the safe for me." He didn't utter a single word after that. "Always patient with me too. I am grateful for you. Can always rely on you. You are strong in every aspect."
You notice him hanging his head too low, eyes dragging on the ground. He is... flattered? You don't know but it doesn't seem bad. His eyes are actually very expressive as you stated earlier. But it is not enough to tell everything he feels. So you stop for a moment before he starts the conversation again.
"You trust a man with a mask?"
"I trust the man under that mask. Pretty like your knife skills, yeah? I never doubt it, witnessing it myself." This earns him a full-blown laughter.
"Enough." He cuts you then, standing up. He is burning red under that mask. He can't help but feel embarrassed. The silence caught into you, you blink at him. Did you go a bit too far?
"Thank you." he spats the word as if it is dirt in his mouth and he leaves, overwhelmed by you.

Cast Out: Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
Thesil was sitting on her bedroll when I darted into the tent, my heart pounding from more than the run. I could nearly taste the sweetness of the ore still hanging in my mouth. I shuddered and closed my eyes. Taste. All I'd ever done was smell the ore. How much more powerful would the visions be if I tasted it? If I did as Holy Efra had done and let it melt on my tongue into my blood and body. I'd always known people ate it, once the thrill of scent had grown too weak to move them. Not my parents, who could never afford to indulge outside the religious rites every year. But some people. Those rich enough to have it often. I wondered what my life would have been like if I'd been born to such parents. Probably no different. No one would expose children to such a thing.
No. Without my parents, I would have no signs, no culture. No hope. It would have been very different.
I banished my longing – for my family, and the ore – and opened my eyes. From Thesil's annoyed expression, I thought she must have been trying to get my attention for some time. Then I noticed her eyes were swollen and red, like she'd been crying. I moved to her side quickly, sliding down to sit next to her. "What's wrong?" I asked her. "Why are you sad?"
Perhaps that was a stupid question. She'd been exiled from home, like me. Perhaps a better question was why wasn't I sadder?
Read the rest here.
I scheduled this before my life went to hell. Please read and say something so I'm not thinking about how shit my family life is.

It only took two words to shatter Sorcha's world, in the end.
"I know."
Those were the only two that mattered, but Luciana had never been a great one for brevity. Seated - of course she was seated, her legs had given out under her years before her heart did - in one of the lower chambers of the ancestral palazzo, off the Calle dei Morti, in a room of gilt and ivory and rich glossy teak, in the queendom of her power, on this night of all nights, Luciana could wax as lyrical as she damn well liked.
"I know, tesoro, and I have known for years. Who drew your mind out of its manacles? Who read your thoughts aloud to he who wrote them back into you? You suspected there was something about you that was wrong, and I knew more than you know - I could make the guess while you were still feeling the new edge on your fangs. Oh," she said, seeing Sorcha tremble, pale as porcelain, "don't be afraid of me, tesoro - "
"I'm not afraid," Sorcha barked - surprising herself with the viciousness of it, as her patience snapped itself and whipcoiled across her mind. "I'm angry, nonna. You knew all along and I was so scared, and you didn't tell me, and I needed your help, I could hae - I could have started all this four years ago! I could hae - "
Sorcha's mouth snapped shut, as she remembered who she was talking to, and where she was, and what night of the year it was, and why she was there. Luciana's arched brow and affable, easy, haughty smile reminded her.
"It's whatever," said Sorcha, settling herself, brushing her knees. "Long game, right?"
"The long game, indeed. You had to come to the conclusion yourself, and the moment of choice, and the decision - and you sit here, and address yourself to me thus, and that speaks to the decision you have made."
Does it? thought Sorcha, and "it does?" she said aloud.
"Naturally, I would like you to remain here," said Luciana, and Sorcha's face froze. She swallowed, took a moment to compose herself - one outburst she could get away with, two would test the anziana's indulgence.
"With respect, nonna Luciana, I have tae decline your invitation - most gracious invitation as it is. My father, my family, they need me - my city, my people, they need me - my sisters, my lover - " and as Luciana stirred in her chair and made to speak, Sorcha rose from her own and knelt on the shining hardwood, pressed both her hands into Luciana's lap and looked up at her with the widest eyes she could muster.
"I can't leave them all, nonna, no matter how much I love you, no matter how much I want tae be with you. And I don't - I can't be like you, either. I thought I could but I can't. I'm not like you. The Black Art doesna come easy tae me. I have tae work at it. That's why I am - " and she wiped her eyes, and kept talking.
"That's why you're wrong about me. I choose both. I am Dunsirn, an' your grandchilde, an' I'm Duskborn, an' I am gonnae crack the one wide open wi' the other. Build wide, no' tall. Hack, cheat, an' backdoor my way intae somethin' you can't do, 'cause you're the best there is at what you do an' there can't be two of us."
Sorcha sniffed, and added: "Please don' kill me? My boyfriend'll be furious."
Luciana's grave face, rich and rotten as her city, lean and sallow and old, cracked into an autumnal laugh: cold, and chilly, and clammy. It thrilled through Sorcha's head and over her skin and down into her knees and fixed her where she knelt.
"Flattery will get you everywhere, tesoro," she said. "I had you in mind for another Nadia, but you would pine far more, and for far better reason. I would bind you to me and keep you at my hip for a century, but what would you learn from me, save all that I already know? And as you say, you are something new, and rare, and special. But..."
There was always going to be a but.
"We are in Venice, my grandchilde, and we are here on the sufferance of the Promise and the Prince."
It was always going to be bad. If Luciana invoked the Camarilla, she was going to do something she didn't want to take the blame for -
"As such, I will permit you to leave only on their sufferance, and in accordance with their customs."
Dark water, rising. The green, salty, opaque of the lagoon. And Sorcha's heart on fire, burning, burning, burning as the quicksilver tore into her skin -
Sorcha understood her dreams, at last.

2022 in kdramas
*that I finished
I spent my January nursing all that The Red Sleeve broke (my heart), nourishing what it gave me (provocation to write, notes here), cursing what it did for my overall k-drama viewing expectations. I am still mad that Lee Se-young wasn’t recognised for what she did in TRS, a show that belongs to Deok-im and her alone. I had finished Good Manager a day before, a long-winded bromance between Namkoong Min and Lee Jun-ho. I didn’t think much and truth be told, I don’t remember much either. Happiness fell flat after three episodes; stayed for the remaining episodes because of the excellent chemistry between the main characters. I evidently watched Coffee Prince many years too late but I saw every reason why I might have never finished school if I had seen it earlier.
Run On kept me thrilled on occasion, became white noise otherwise. I loved seeing my two joys, running and translation, woven into the show, loved the miracle of found friendships and homes, and a defiant writing philosophy that healthy relationships are worthy of being probed. Despite how unbearable Our Beloved Summer was about Ji-woong’s unrequited love, I could see the good-naturedness of the story writer-nim was trying to tell. I loved watching why the two leads fell apart and what brought them together. I loved that this had something to do with communication but I loved even more, that it just had to do with having grown up and realising you can love something you’re not and that’s one way to experience life. Kairos is the most underappreciated show that tackles time-travel. Great writing with exceptional attention to detail.
February was spent with the duology of the Ahn Pan-seok—Kim Eun—Jung Hae-in universe, the k-drama equivalent of Austenian bliss. Both shows benefit from Kim Eun’s thesis that romance may be intimate but love, in a patriarchy, demands a public that must accept it. Ahn Pan-seok is the finest orchestrator of moments that feel like the time lapse that falling in love is, that thing that people often reduce to soulmatism or violins at first glance. In One Spring Night, it works. In Something in the Rain, it fails because Kim Eun was still finding her voice as a writer who is stumped by what makes for the ‘right’ kind of conflicts in a 16-episode arc. I don’t think that’s the only problem with SITR but it’s the one she solved with marvelous elegance in OSN. In both shows, the main leads are charmingly, refreshingly communicative with each other. But it is in OSN, where Kim Eun figures out that being vulnerable is not the same as talking about vulnerable things, and how to make it count for all relationships that matter. Son Ye-jin and Han Ji-min, I love you both equally.
In March, I began paying an honorarium to the guard of my Jang Hyuk horny jail. Deep-rooted Tree made me cry in at least 14/24 episodes. A Joseon murder mystery wrapped in a drama about accessible language as the beginning to breaking down class barriers and nation-building, with nerdy love for character interiority? I ate that up. Han Seok-kyu is the only reel King Sejong ever. Just like Jang Hyuk is the only reel Bang Won ever. My Country: The New Age is a shallow show with hilarously lofty dialogues and masterful action sequences. In my most generous reading, MCTNA attempted to ask if Bang Won’s modernity could have come at a lesser price; is modernity not equivalent to audacity? Woo Do-hwan is almost as good at portraying audacity as Jang Hyuk.
Having Park Eun-bin and Kim Min-jae play Brahms in a riveting duet is exactly what Do You Like Brahms? set out to do. Introverts are rarely done well on the screen and getting it right with not one, but two leads is an achievement too. If you are a person fuelled by that mystical "passion," the creative arts industry can be a cruel place. Chae Song-ah is, by all accounts, not as talented as the others around her, and this is not a story of stick-with-it-till-you-rise-from-the-ashes. Even the hope that it might be is wonderful writing because Song-ah is far more assertive than anybody gives her credit for, like a baby who holds onto your finger with shocking strength. In classical music especially, there is no such thing: you are good or you are out. Park Joon-young is great and yet, he is begging for an out, because being good is just the beginning. These two and the other characters are deeply in love with music and they want to protect that love. They all find out that in the end that love needs sustenance, not protection.
I binged Fated to Love You in April, in a private experiment to see how much Jang Hyuk brainrot I can take. (Let’s remember this is a summary of the shows I finished.) I came out of it with brainrot for one more Jang. Outrageous show, outrageous star power. Soundtrack No. 1 was a forgettable experience save for the fact that I am now a person who looks up Park Hyung-sik’s MDL page on the reg. I think everybody is right about Twenty-Five Twenty-One: (a) Baek Ye-jin and Na Hee-do were always going to break up (b) It was a terribly-conceived finale. Two other opinions I am going to leave here: (c) Ji Seung-wan, darling of my heart, should have been the lead for the show that writer-nim actually wanted to do. (d) More people would see this, and also may have responded with thoughts beyond ship discourse, if Na Hee-do was played by anyone other than Kim Tae-ri.
I think people were right about criticising Lee Soo-yeon’s Grid too. The science of time-travel took some leniency. I get why the finale would have been unsatisfying, even as a setup for a potential second season. But I offer that the thesis of LSY’s shows is never in how they end, because they are not moral science lessons for the future. Grid’s deeply introspective themes of time-travel and the greater good begins with the the sun, the most reliable force in a human's life, turning against mankind. This immediately takes away a human as ultimate antagonist, when it easily could have been. For LSY, the future is the darkest place with unknowable power and we have the task of paving a path of light towards it. Time-travel is not the science-fiction component with which to imagine our behaviour in an unrecognisable, but possible, place. It’s the fucking fantasy. Even if we got the chance to change the past, we really couldn't. The future is what we have got to change and the present to make the first move. Those dreams of going back, repenting hard enough, flirting with what ifs? Not going to cut it. LSY's meta elegance is in bringing the intensely personal version of this theme in parallel to the big one: divorce. FWIW, she had all these threads tie together by Episode 7. I get why she said Grid is the next iteration of her life's work—an exceptional mind.
Park Min-young could have chemistry with a rock, and thank god, Seo Kang-joon isn’t one. When The Weather Is Fine is the rightest show about life in the countryside. It nails the fine line of a tight-knit community that shows up for you and also, how easily they can be the first source of judgement, as people who know your secrets. Best book club in a k-drama. Very well done pining. Imo is my favourite character and she should publish that novel because “Hey. Who do you think killed my brother-in-law?” is a banger opening line. I first saw Lee Jae-wook in this show.
During the weekends of April and May, there was My Liberation Notes. I watched it like a scheduled therapy session, although I do not think Park Hae-young is aiming for catharsis with her works (despite it seeming like the most common outcome). I didn’t have the word “healing” in my everyday vocabulary so often before k-dramas. It’s a genre of k-drama that is meant to be comforting, to inject slowness into everyday life as an antidote for the ills of modern society. Bullshit. There are multiple wide shots of the Yeom family tending their farms, eating in peace amid the greenery, and they are claustrophobic. It might feel like complaints, and you’re free to think that. But PHY knows, as most people my generation do, finding an escape is actually really easy. That’s not the point. The point is to be less sad about being who you are; to know that who you are is enough to make a living, find love if you want it, make peace with your family. This show is about siblings as the real loves of your lives.
I don’t remember what I was doing in June.
Pachinko is not a k-drama strictly speaking, but let’s do it. I adore Min Jin Lee and I am afraid to admit how emotionally attached I am to the world of Kogonada’s eyes. In MJL's book, the linear structure is meant to make you feel like the history of a family can also be a history of the other themes that consume intellectual space. In the show, there is no such thing as a past, or a history. Nothing is done, nothing is over and under the rug. You see Sun-ja’s and Solomon’s stories at the same time because there's no distance that makes what happened then far enough from what's happening now. For this alone, Pachinko is a superior adaptation. I have a shrine for every woman in this show. Watching Yumi’s Cells 2 has been among the happiest experiences of my TV viewing life. Bloody Heart could have been bloodier. I respected that it reached a conclusion without feeling the need to give a neat answer to its central question of assertive power as driver of both unity and chaos—there’s humility in realising that the answer need not be determined in one generation. Jang Hyuk thirst got me into the show, Kang Hanna’s outstanding face and smarts kept me there. Lee Joon’s Lee Tae nearly made me quit. Park Ji-yeon, muah. I watched the back half of Signal in July. It is no fault of the show that I was zapped out of will to see women being killed. There were two scenes of Kim Hye-soo’s that wrecked me bad, I had to quit watching for couple of days. Thank you to the makers for giving a genre-defining template. (Kairos did do it better.)
Alchemy of Souls was super fun as a weekly watch. Daeho is boring to me as a setting and the plot ventures into territories worthy of critical thought once in a blue moon. But I admire the ambition, and the storytelling does have its moments. Lee Jae-wook is a menace. Inhaled Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung over four days; I enjoyed it. Extraordinary Attorney Woo tried. I also binged Reply 1997. Reply 1988 is always going to be my favourite and I am not going to watch R1994 for a conclusive test of veracity.
Between these shows, their endearing efforts at being fulfilling shows about love of different kinds, I nibbled on episodes of My Mister. I couldn’t watch two episodes together; it was so potent, so unbelievably demanding of my attention in every way imaginable, and I gave it willingly. I wrote about the show here.
October brought the best mystery/thriller show of the year: May It Please The Court. It was written with a clear idea of how much to bite, knew how to chew on it, and that’s why it also landed the best conclusion of the year. The show is astute about forgiveness and justice, and well, forgiveness in justice. I think the show’s success is in how it trusted both its characters and the audience to process what this means to them. Jung Ryeo-won and Lee Kyu-hyung have impeccable married energy from first scene. Lee Sang-hee is the best, the hottest, the finest.
Little Women is the mystery/thriller show with the most potential of the year. It wasn’t until episode 11 that the show lost me but I do think the flaws began revealing themselves a lot earlier. I didn’t appreciate the show’s insistence that the central crime of the show was Sang-ah’s murders and not the patriarchal cult that pretends to be a meritocracy. I thought the Vietnam War references were in conversation for a whole different reason: I viewed it as a nod to the first war where losing means more than winning. That war is the blueprint for the 21st century exertion of control for the right to capital and target audience, rather than mere territory and pride. But this symbolism wasn’t what came through and I understand those who pushed back on how the war's references, along with an exotic flower, rang hollow. LW did get characterisation right, particularly the way poverty alters how intelligence is perceived and valued. It’s ambitious premise—that Louisa May Alcott was wrong in deciding these sisters would taper their poverty with unusual politeness—is radical.
I will rewatch the first 11 episodes of May I Help You in several trying days of my future. Baek Dong-joo and Kim Tae-hee, butlers to the dead and the alive respectively, are companions, friends and lovers, in that order. What's not to love? The acts asked of them are rarely grand but they are delivered with emotional heft. I forgive all the detours taken from episode 12. I tend to find it dull when everybody and everything is connected to each other. In this one's ending, it's quite lovely. I see the vision in saying that we only know Dong-joo’s story because that’s the story we have tuned into. The miracles could be happening to anyone at all. I wish writer-nim wasn’t so Christian throughout—the throwaway line about suicide put me off. Best piggy-backing scenes in a rom-com and also, favourite kiss, I am going to say.

Note
What are your headcannons about solo leveling characters?
Damn I have too many! Will probably condense it or just make it a series at one point, maybe after the anime and the game drops so I have ALL the info MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA—
Anyways:
And sorry for the late post.
Sung Jin-Woo
He always like to play games, referenced by the fact that he would often go to game cafes with his sister and even in the next timeline he would do those kinds of things too.
Pretty sure he also like to speed run things rather than focus on the lore of the game, so maybe he like first person shooter games or arcade like games.
He loves to cook because it takes his mind off the hunting job.
Cooking was probably one of the only hobbies he had after his mother fell to the eternal slumber.
He tended to work 3 kinds of jobs before he reawakened (in the game's dossiers he said he worked for a moving company of sorts, and also other kinds of part time jobs, so this is like half head half canon)
In the dossiers he also seemed to have a vision of his dad. I like to think that the moment his father met the Rulers, he asked them to give them some of their powers to let his son be awakened and be strong enough to pull himself through what ever crisis they be going through.
That or maybe Il Hwan actually had the power of a ruler to the point where he could grant an awakening to others.
I like to think he always cuddled with his sister after he finished each raid, like just to make him feel safe and happy to have come back alive.
He likely also had a huge fight with Jin-Ah before going to his first raid, it was so bad that he couldn't even focus as much on the raid at all and it's the main reason why he got lost in the first gate he entered.
He can't love other people past the ones he already knew in the other timeline and had gotten close to him.
I think that time when they really destroyed his human heart, they also might have literally destroyed his human side as well.
He does still love people, but I don't think he might be capable of finding more love than the one he already has.
Which is why Jin-Woo decided to keep Hae-In as his wife since it was the only romantic love of his past life.
And his closest friend like Yoo Jin-Ho is the one he decided to bring into the family since he couldn't really feel capable of letting other people inside his circle of love.
Others like Woo Jin-Chul and Lee Ju-Hee were probably still on his mind but he didn't try to get them close, which probably meant the Ashborn inside of him didn't know whenever Jin-Woo really loved them enough to integrate them into his family or just let them go.
Which is why he also didn't push Woo Jin-Chul out when he recalled all of his memories.
Like I really love to think about the implication that Human Jin-Woo no longer exists, just Ashborn with the memories of Jin-Woo and vice-versa.
Yet due to the constant battle in the dimensions I think the human side has faded almost completely and now Jin-Woo is empty of what he once used to feel.
(Also, did you know that the whole 'Jin-Woo slowly looses emotions' was actually a manwha only adaptation? Yeah I didn't expect that shit to come at me while I was looking back at the light novel)
E rank Jin-Woo was likely also jacked. I mean we see it in the side stories with Antares, but I didn't think it was THAT kind of jacked, rather more of a has a good physique but it doesn't show as much.
He taught Suho how to draw
He is probably a horrible artist (meanwhile his son is getting an art degree lmao)
(Another fun fact: Chu-gong creator of the Solo Leveling light novel actually has the same degree as Suho)
He likes scifi shows and movies, especially horror scifi.
Cha Hae-In
She likes to jump a lot, when she is happy she tends to jump her feet up a little.
She doesnt like to stay in one place and tends to move around.
She probably has like one extroverted friend in her track and field club that lets her feel at home in the club.
She is horrible at baking and not a picky person at all
There was at one point were i did think she was probably an orphan, which i do have a lot of headcanons about that idea too. I mean it probably came from the fact that we know nothing about her family, like not even the tiniest bits of her taste too, what she likes what she doesnt. And she is like one of the most important characters 😭🤌. I mean she doesnt have to be an entire wikipedia but like, at least something girl.
So I tended to think she was an orphan or homeless for a lot of the time. And this will get even more farstreched as i got a bit more into ~fanon~ headcanon. I wont put itnall but you know, just some bits
She did have parents at one point but her mother left, meanwhile her father almost never appeared in her life, she couldnt even their faces at times.
When there was a loud crash at her home she would often hide and wish she could run away from things, or at least fight back. (Got that headcanon due to the CJI dossiers saying that their powers come from their greatest fears)
She one day looked for a way to escape and just, ran.
It made her feel alive and as though she finally got a fresh breath of air. Now everytime after school she ran as far as she could and came back late in the night so that she wouldnt have to deal with anything at the orphanage or with her new, again, foster parents.
Then there was a time she got caught running on video, and it eventually went viral. Since the orphanage didnt want to deal with her escapes anymore, they put her on a new school to compete with the other athletes.
The training was horrible but she managed and eventually she wanted to be better than everyone else. The fact that for once she felt free from everything as she ran made her more emotions and adrenaline ghan everything in the world. So she kept running and running until one day she was unable.
At school it was hard for her to have friends since either they wanted fame or she never actually felt any connections with any of them, she couldnt even understand most of their problems at face value, it made her field so lonely for years that she rather decided to focus on her studies.
I wouldnt guess she would be bullied, but more of just ignored, completely.
Once she started to recuperate she wanted to go back to running but she couldnt win from before.
This is pre rewind so most of her life felt lonely, post rewind she definetly had her first friend and a better life (cough JinWoo) but pre rewind it felt like she had nothing and stuck herself to almost never talking. Maybe she would have a friend or two but she also moved schools due to the foster parents not liking a kid that ran away, literally, everytime she had problem or a fight.
Um sadness aside
She likes candy and ice cream
She hates bad smells due to her good sense of smell.
She also doesnt like strong perfume scents.
Hae-In grew up to me more matured mentally due to all the things in her life, but she still kept her moral compass as much as she could, mostly because she didnt want to deal with more problems in her life.
She likes bigger clothing, big sweaters, kimono pants, especially those who have big pockets.
Her ringtone is a cute pop song (like Omae Wa Mou(deadman), Dandelions(Ruth B) or Crush(tessa violet) lmao idk why i have this headcanon
She accidentaly cut her hair too short one time and decided to just go with short hair so that no one would notice.
Imma stop or she is gonna go through an angst arc bc of me
Woo Jin-Chul
He doesnt like coffee at all lmao, not even energy drinks, but he deals with the taste bc there isnt a lot of good drinks out there that can getvhis energy up in the mornings.
He has a sweet tooth too. And a spicy (tooth?) Taste bc his mother always did kimchi since he was young.
He likes thriller movies ever since he was young, he also liked to dig himself in data about crimes and murders.
His mother was a huge part of his life, the father somewhat too but his mother often took a big role in his moral compass and the way he looked back at things.
His father was a police officer.
He had a good life, the best from all of them, all things considered.
His innocence though... well he had been exposed to a lot of crime and violence since he liked to watch the news (his Tv didnt have a lot for him to watch and he didnt have any devices growing up bc his mother thought it was a bad idea to get him one so young)
(She was right, this man is now twice as workaholic)
He likes coffee shops due to the aroma and the sense of relaxation.
The people at the nearest cafe to the asossiation know his name.
He tends to be really strict with others but at the same time do other people's work.
Post rewind he had a diary of all the Evans that happened in the story, and I mean ALL the events from the start of the monarchs to Jin-Woo's eventually saving the earth.
He likely was always making theories and trying to find out more about this vague world due to all the information Jin-Woo gave him.
I think he would also like to invent some materials in the mean time. Those that use magic crystals or other kinds of magic to enhance people's lives or amplify their power
Lee Ju-Hee
Girl has a good memory of literally everyone she comes across
Ju-Hee would often confuse Jin-Woo because of her Busan dialect
Ju-Hee wasn't scared of the blood itself, she was actually quite fine seeing those kinds of thing.
What she was scared about was dying In a brutal way.
She would often step back and let the others handle on raids
Her fears kindo of passed away every time she was with E rank Jin-Woo, since if he could survive so many harsh things so could her
She didn't like him at first too but I think she then became his first and only friend throughout those four years of his life.
She liked to exchange things about her family but the other didn't say anything.
Yoo Jin-Ho
He hated being called a chaebol, kinda like a silver spoon child in our lingo, nepo baby, stuff like that so he often tried to hide his wealth
But at the same time it was very obvious.
And he suffered a bit of lack of friendship because of that.
He tried to get friends and they would all try to get him for his money or his fame
It was hard, he really just wanted simple things in life.
He even got his driver's license, some part time jobs and went to public schools because he wanted to experience a more casual life.
Since I think he would have felt really lonely inside his home where his father praised his two oldest sons but not him as much.
Sung Jin-Ah
Jin Ah is very greedy when it comes to everything honestly.
If she wants it, she would likely get it, but not out of someone's help rather her own accord.
For example she would have an interest focus on video games because she wanted to beat her brother all the time in the cafes.
And she would have an intense focus on medicine because she wanted to give her mother a chance to come back again
I think she even studied a lot of magic apart from medicine due to the new gates coming out of nowhere
Once her mother woke up she didn't stop though but she did go back to playing video games
And she noticed a few patterns withing those things that kinda looked the same as the monsters that invaded this world.
But she couldn't tell anything about that because all the sudden she lost all of her memories.
Although post rewind it would have been fun to see Jin Ah studying up on the lore of the monsters and making new medicine from the medical and magic knowledge beforehand.
Oh she is absolutely a fan of Kpop bands.
She has a poster of them. That's canon.
Choi Jong-In
He was once saved from a burning building by Yoon Ho, thus exposing him to his first gay panic when Yoon Ho introduced himself.
He likes spicy foods and warm meals
Yes even in summer
He has a very bad distance vision which is why he always tries to wear glasses even when he is fighting.
He doesn't like eating too much (part of childhood I will not explain now)
He likes to eat some lolipops to deal with his smoking addiction.
He had a white tiguer plush animal that he was fond of during his childhood, it was destroyed in a fire when he turned 15.
He wanted to make Hae-In fit in with the rest of the hunters so he gave her a modified handkerchief that covered the smell of mana.
He often learned how to sew because Hae-In was really reckless with her suit at first.
He and Hae-In have a lot of disputes of the money spent on the guild because Hae-In thinks the way he pays S ranks is too much whereas he thinks it's only acceptable to get this much due to their work.
He won't admit it but He sees Hae-In as a little sister. He will even look out for her image and stop a lot of rumors going around. Although Hae-In is too embarrassed and says he wants him to stop.
He still goes on to validate her efforts in the guild and everyone that he works under.
He absolutely has a side shift on inventing gigs to help enhance the powers of a person
You see those headgear Hae-In has? He invented it to attract more beasts to her surroundings.
He made some modified rings for him to enhance his fire resistance too.
Baek Yoon-Ho
He bought one ring from the White Tiguer guild, and never let go of it. No one noticed that since he always had a lot of handy rings on him.
Bro is allergic to dogs.
The first person to have laughed in his face in his tiguer form was Jong-In.
He often had a lot of help from Jong-In to establish his own guild, he always thought it was because at that time Hunter's and Reapers were in a battle of whose more powerful.
Thomas Andre
He had a lot of panics over trying to appear like a normal person that he tried to hide most of his emotions in case one of them would turn him into a monster
Pre rewind, IL Hwang had stood out in his life, he alway kept his words of encouragement with him.
He started to get a better public light after he helped rescue all of the inhabitants into Jeju before the ants tried to kill them all.
He and Eunsuk, the S rank that died in the third jeju raid, were the best of friends. He was a happy go lucky guy that also gave Yoon Ho a lot of encouragement in being a cool white tiguer who saves people!
He also had a really strong sense of Justice which is why he didn't retreat in the third raid and began to save the rest until at the end he was eaten in front of Byung-Gyu and Yoon Ho
It solidified Yoon Ho that he must never get attached to a lot of the hunters, even the S ranks. He was fine with being friends with Byung-Gyu bc he was willing to retire, but not the rest.
He started to also create a huge distance with Jong-In because of that. Jong-In didn't know why he suddenly started to act out that way which is what led to their constant fighting and bickering.
He is soft to a lot of things.
He likes puppies and kitties and gives the strays a lot of food. You can find the guildmaster just feeding kittens and dogs outside of the guild's building.
Jong-In has some blackmail material of him.
Liu Zhigang
He was born somewhere in the western region of Europe, but his family immigrated to Florida which is why he doesn't have a lot of those European traits on him.
His parents were very religious but his mother was lax about it, like she didn't care when he turned atheist.
He met Laura when they were teens.
Laura was his first friend when she brided him that she will help him with his school work and in turn she will be safe from bullying all toguether.
Thomas had a love for wrestling and sports.
Thomas liked to go fishing and often dragged Laura to those trips, as well as camping, hiking and skiing in Colorado one time.
Thomas has a collection of racing cars
Thomas goes every weekend to Norma's house to eat her cookies.
He sent a small gift (expensive and huge by everyone else's standards) to Lennart after finding out he had saved him.
Has a little sister that escaped from North Korea, she too became an S rank and is the viceguildmaster of Zhigang's guild
He tries everything to maintain his hair as long as possible.
And as pretty as possible
He was an wuxia actor before he got his awakening
He likes historical dramas
He likes to fight with a double pair of blades
He has a gigantification skill.
Shadows
Beru has a Netflix account and watches dramas with Jin Ah and post rewind with Hae In
Igris tends to haunt the libraries just to read the books in them
Igris likes math and science
Beru likes to play with the sand and make burrows for himself when he was still young and alive.
Igris was very hardworking kid when he was alive
Igris liked angels a lot and had a lot of fascination with Bellion when he got to meet him.
Kaisel cuddles Tank when it gets too warm
Kaisel is female you can't take this from me.
Kaisel acts like a huge puppy.
Bellion has sensible wings
Bellion likes to eat cookies, why? Idk.

                        Favorite 2022 Korean Album Releases
khamat — hunjiya
this album is sonically so so beautiful! the r&b-pop hybrid is trendy (which can be a strength and a weakness) but this album has amazing build up that i cannot ignore. the narrative of zillennial’s blustery self-assuredness with the tracks all in capital letters - ending with last month’s rent in lowercase as the dawning realization of adulthood and growing out of friends and your childhood home. yeah...i’ll drink to that. the best engineered album of the year.
neap paradise — shin hae gyeong
one of my faveeee rock releases of the year. the arrangement of this album is so pleasing as you delve longer and longer in its psychedelic soundscape. it’s also a little reminiscent of korean indie sounds in the early 2010s which mayhaps colored my bias to this album. in addition, there are sooo many individual hooks across this album: when the guitar solo ripssss in Vandalism? the toy laugh at the end of Kaleidoscope? the descending chords in My Chronos? *chefs kiss*
piece of space — kaiavant
this album is soooo sexy...like how can you make marimba in the opening track sound alluring? she did it though! speaking about a shattered, unstable relationship, this alt-r&b is splendidly built and shows so much potential for kaiavant. the track woo hoo (feat. kid milli) is a star. if you’re a fan of bibi’s sound, do check her out!
evergray — jiwoo
his previous album ‘esprit’ got him on my to watch list and he delivered this year!! moody, introspective, and downbeat, this album is wonderful for those searching for a slow night and jiwoo’s voice perfectly emulates the toxicity of lust, love, and breakups. like a dark curtain of rain, it ensconced you in the melodrama if you let it.
nameless things — xeuda
decided to check this album since it was co-produced by cacophony and it didn’t disappoint! if you decide to listen to this album in one sitting, it’s so artful at how it slowly unravels from being defensive in sharing to you the true nature of its artist (her anxiety) and slowly opens up to a crescendo of a frenzy and ends like a grey cast in the aftermath of a storm.
life goes on — orange flavored cigarettes
might be a ~vibey entry to the list but the funk production flares (the underwater effect in kontrast, the reverb in that’s all i want) makes it distinct against its similar bands. this was in constant rotation for the summer for the slow summer nights with its ambient vocals. highly rec check out their other 2022 singles, especially noah.
a.k.a YAYA — yaya kim
this is an insaneeeee album from start to finish. with 33 tracks (yes that’s right!!!!), this album is indulgent, effusive, and operatic in its splendor. it’s magnificent, dark, and seductive which completely matches yaya kim’s husky voice. a concept album for a noir film that doesn’t exist, if you will. from the opening track, it asks you to let down your apprehension and enjoy the velvet-textured, wonderfully performed ride to its completion.
damage — kim doeon
i do love me some experimental albums and this album introduced me to the delightful name of the genre ‘folktronica’. while it’s more ambient than what i prefer, i’ve had this album on replay to able to parse something new with each listen. it’s soooo funky, fresh, and pleasant and it’s production is very evocative of a charming indie pixel game. Green Screen is my fave track of the year.
ㅠㅠ — gonggonggoo009
when this album starts, it does not let up! it’s 40 mins long album and uses it  expeditiously and excellently. the tracks are delightfully groovy at times, addictive in a few, and GOES HARD that you will not fatigued by the end of the runtime. and i know the man has become persona non grata (for good, good reasons) but it will be remiss not to mention the influence of kanye’s my beautiful dark twisted fantasy in this album’s production (the tracks monster, walk and polar bear are pretty obvious - and no, it’s not just because of the autotune). however, as the album goes on it does evolve to take on more of kendrick’s work (concentration is the best track imo). fave khh album of the year, don’t miss out.
♡ ♡ ♡
honorable mentions: all of ive’s singles, conch’s hurry up!, kwon eun bi’s lethality, slom’s weather report, rocket punch’s flash, bibi’s lowlife princess: noir, youha’s love you more, newjeans’ hype boy, baek yerin’s pisces, lucid fall’s voice beside guitar, dpr ian’s moodswings in to order

my full review of past lives (2023) dir. celine song
this movie really wanted me to believe i watched a better movie.
the characters are flat as hell, and the only reason this is as widely acclaimed as it is is because it looks like a movie that would win a bunch of awards. it’s an attempt to reverse causality by appropriating the indicators of something that would be a tear-jerker without actually having any depth whatsoever. other people have mentioned this already, though, so I won’t rehash it here.
what i’m wondering is like, what did celine song even want to accomplish here? there’s the transcendent romance angle, which is thoroughly undercut by 1. nora not even remembering hae sung’s name and 2. her insisting from the beginning that they have no chance together AND 3. NORA BEING A CALLOUS PERSON. did anyone else get that vibe? throughout the movie, we’re given zero indication that she cares about hae sung’s general wellbeing. he’s always just following her around like a lost puppy. it’s been 24 years, man. this is childish.
then there’s the pragmatism angle, which i think fits better…but still doesn’t fit well. because in order for the pragmatism to work, we’d need to see a lot more of nora’s mundane life. she wouldn’t still be chasing after white people’s silly awards. more importantly, PRAGMATISM INVOLVES GRIEF. pragmatism is letting go of dreams and ideals to maintain the current moment. it’s loss of childhood innocence, of freedom, of home, etc. but is this grief present throughout the movie? no. “but she cries at the end!” no. this is again an attempt to reverse causality. as if this single event recontextualizes her 24 years of glibness. IT DOESN’T!!! she does NOT feel grief here!!! song’s refusal to engage with such a fundamental aspect of pragmatism means this theme falls flat as well.
the theming is so muddled. it seems like the only constant here is that nora refuses to even entertain the idea of a life with hae sung. she callously leaves him again and again and again. amidst all of this poor characterization and nebulous writing, one thing is for certain: nora and hae sung never had a chance. the west (and only the west, because her passionless marriage certainly isn't tugging on anyone's heartstrings) was nora’s only choice.
but nora isn’t some savant. she’s “just some girl from Korea”. she’s actually rather plain. why the insistence, then, that “Korea was too small for her”? was there really no room for doubt, for hope that Korea could offer her similar opportunities?
apparently this movie is semi-autobiographical which…makes a lot of sense. as an east asian american woman, i’ve noticed that there’s a subgenre of east asian american woman that 1. loves navel gazing and 2. pathologically denies the possibility that they’ve ever made the wrong choices in life. past lives feels like a product of these two decidedly art-ruining drives. despite the outward insistence that hae sung and nora could’ve been something, their story only exists so nora can knock it back down. past lives feels dogmatic—not like a story in its own right, but like a platitude, someone’s attempt to justify the choices they’ve made for themselves.

Goodbye Everyone
Well as the title says, it's a goodbye for knowing why I am leaving not just here forever but actually leaving this fandom forever here the reasons:
And the dirty attacks like this again and again
Tumblr media
And sure case I don't want my friend @black-sapphire57 to get more hurt because of me btw
So I don't care what I just wanted to say this before leaving:
@oya-oya-okay thank you for being my best friend here, I liked your account, arts, manga coloring and etc the most, you made my days bright many times here with your kind words, comments and your cute posts always I would never forget you and will remember you forever love thanks for everything you did and making me smiles
@hyciao thanks a lot for being a very dear friend here to me I truly truly liked your arts a lot and talking with you was very easy I had lots of fun with you around and will never forget you thanks for making me smile in my hard days
@gureshinlover I will never forget your kindness and sweet forever and will be always thankful of you forever and for all those times you made me feel happy thanks for everything
@schneereggen I already told you in your DM before that I like and adore your fics a lot and so wanted to thank you for them all, making me feel good, smiling and etc I would never forget that how you made me excited and happy with not your fics but also your lovely post here I truly liked discussing with you around the most and was enjoying it a lot so thanks for everything
@redashera you may don't know me and you also blocked me longgg ago which I still don't know really why but I also don't care too because I respect maybe you didn't like me or anything but I know you and I liked your fics a lot and you also made me to feel good with your fics many times so even if you don't know me or hate me, still thank you for everything
@dxntics you were one of my bestes friends around even if you don't consider me one you made me to laugh and feel comfortable with your memes a lot and I truly liked your account and your memes the most maybe you don't know it but you were the one who actually gave me enough confidence to make memes myself too as I never had enough of that to share my memes and though people won't like them so thank you for making me feel good and smile and also giving me enough confidence too thanks for everything
@ocielismyadoptedson we had so much of fun times together and I liked talking to you a lot thanks for making me feel god and was a good friend to discuss with thanks for everything

And a general talk to anyone who wanna enter this fandom:
Please don't enter. This is the most sincere I ever said. If you are interested in this manga please just read it every month but try your best to not intreact with people at all specially if you are not a mikayuu or mika stan in general no don't get me wrong if you are a good writer, a good artist then share your fics, arts, manga coloring, edits and etc but please in no kind of conditions don't share your ideas about the story at all you'll just get hurt to the core some people around has no kind of morals and cares nothing about your feelings this outside so as the one who was around for about 4 years and had lots of funs ofc but recieved more than those lots of funs, hurt and insults and etc please accept this advice from me and keep your life here peaceful and safe nothing in this world doesn't deserve this too happen.
I won't delete my account here as this account contains Guren's manga which my team worked on it hard so I won't waste the times and energy they put in this but I'll leave and won't be around anymore.
So I know many will get happy over this and will even celebrate it which I congrats them for reaching to what they were after it personally but I just wanted to say this too that to those who did the worse to me and they know who they are so there's no need to name anyone, I just want you to know that I will just never forgive you and remember once you break a heart like this the exact same will happen for you, if not you then your child in the future, if not your child your grand child then so remember this that there's someone in this world who will never forgive you no matter what and unfortunatelly you won't have a chance to find them and apologize them when you'll feel sorry over it years after.
Goodbye everyone and please be safe my dear friends around.

*slams table* CELEBRITY/ACTORS AU!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
inspired by those panels heh~
Basically, Cha Hae-in is an actress (got recruited by her manager after witnessing her fame at the athlete field when she was a teenager) and her image grew when she entered the art of filmmaking.
She appeared in various movies and shows, even making a few close friends along the way. However, she was often given the role of a background character — not that she was complaining, she thought it was better that way since she could still continue her passion for running.
Regardless, many people adored her every time she was on screen and Hae-in, being the sweet woman she was, returned their love as much as she could — which Han Song-yi, her manager, speculated it was the reason why she was still popular in spite of never getting the main lead role.
Many fans kept asking her when would she become a star lead in a movie. Cha Hae-in just chuckled and said she was content with being a second lead or just a background character. "But if the opportunity is up, will you take it, Ms. Cha?" "I wouldn't mind at all!"
A few months later, Han Song-yi called her and announced that a director wanted her to star as a main lead in a show that was primarily in an action genre. Of course, Hae-in screamed.
Fun fact: action was her favorite genre, thanks to Baek Yoon-ho and Kanae Tawata's influences after working with them, and wouldn't say no once she was offered. But to star in a main role? Hae-in thought she was dreaming at first.
Who is the male lead? Sung Jin-woo, of course.
Sung Jin-woo had been known for starring in a famous fantasy-dystopian show called "Solo Leveling" which debuted when he was fifteen and had went on for over five years (he started as a minor character to the main character of the series). Since then, his fame had been going on incessantly even when he had taken a break for two years to spend time with his family.
And once again, he would be starring in an action show. This time, he won't be the main character alone.
He was familiar with Cha Hae-in. He had seen a couple of her films before and was his sister's favorite actress.
Woo Jin-chul, his manager, decided set up a dinner with Cha Hae-in and her manager so they could get to know each other.
Hae-in hardly paid attention to him throughout the dinner, only would when Jin-woo began a topic for her to discuss with. He didn't know how far she would go as a female lead in an action show, but he hoped everything would turn out fine.
Jin-woo always did his stunts alone, even when he was just starting his career. And surprisingly, Hae-in was the same as well. She had been preparing for her role by training with Baek Yoon-ho ever since she received the part.
The show was entitled as "Avid" which featured the male lead (Sung Jin-woo) fighting against the people who were after him while protecting his village from getting wrecked, and along the way, he met (Cha Hae-in) who would soon become an immense help as she knew secrets about the enemy he did not know of.
Working with her was great. Jin-woo was impressed by her skills and how easily she got into character when she was actually shy behind cameras. He was amazed whenever he saw her fight and how well she swung her body to take her opponents down as if she was dancing.
On the other hand, Hae-in still couldn't believe she had gotten to work with Jin-woo, one of the best actors in the action genre.
Little did they both know, it was just the beginning.
Hae-in knew Jin-woo was popular because of his looks, charisma, and talent, so hearing a bunch of girls squealing at the sight of him was no surprise. Meanwhile, Jin-woo dealt with them the best way he could until Jin-chul came to his rescue.
"Tough luck for an actor, huh?" Hae-in teased him when he returned to the set exhausted.
"I just wanted to grab some coffee." Jin-woo grumbled.
The show's debut on its first five episodes had been a success. Many fans called it as "Sung Jin-woo's comeback" and "Cha Hae-in's peak performance". Of course, with all the love the show had been getting, the director got motivated to extend the storyline.
Hae-in's co-actors/friends publicly showed their support in the media, along with Jin-woo's, whom tagged her in their posts to send their felicitations. Choi Jong-in even joked about that she would soon steal his spotlight and Baek Yoon-ho expressed how he was crying in joy to see their training being paid off onscreen.
Everything was a success and people throughout the world loved the show.
. . . But that was until the audience began to get attached to the characters.
Many fans began to post in the media of how they "shipped" Jin-woo and Hae-in's characters due to the chemistry both on and off screen.
"Congrats! The fans think you and Jin-woo will make an amazing couple!" Jong-in exclaimed when he came to visit the set.
"It's just our characters." Hae-in scoffed. "Let them have their fun as long as it keeps the show running."
Jong-in smirked. "So if they asked for you two to kiss, would you do it?"
She spit out her drink. "ABSOLUTELY NOT! The show has been focusing on the action and protecting one's loved ones since the beginning. Romance would be a little too much."
"Well, that's too bad. I think they are already discussing it in the writer's room."
The production team was on full support on building the two lead's relationship. Thankfully, it won't happen already, but they were officially going for that route.
Cha Hae-in was no stranger to doing romance — she did some during the movies she starred in with Choi Jong-in (which led some fans to think they were dating behind the doors, but the speculation was debunked when the two admitted that they only see each other as siblings). But Jin-woo. . . It was his first time.
They had become close friends throughout the shooting and Hae-in was almost worried about seeing her co-actor become awkward with the new route. But Jin-woo handled it like a professional and managed to satisfy the director in his scenes where he would be looking longingly at her and smiling in awe. The director even said it felt raw.
The next scenes were spent with them holding hands and hugging a lot more than the previous episodes. As expected, it made the fans go insane.
"JINHAE NATION ARISE" — was in all platforms created by the fans of the show, Hae-in, and Jin-woo. The tag contained posts about the characters and the actors themselves. At some point, it was hard to tell which one they were referring to.
Hae-in had never felt so afraid opening her socials. Meanwhile, Jin-woo decided to make a joke about all of the posts to distract her mind.
"Hey! Look at this one!" Jin-woo leaned toward her while she covered her eyes in embarrassment. "It said that our characters are going to confess next episode."
"Isn't that the same person who posted it since, I don't know, seven episodes ago?" Hae-in rolled her eyes. She did not understand these so-called 'shippers' sometimes. "And besides, how are they going to confess when the director keeps killing off characters? I thought Esil was going to stay longer."
"Same." Jin-woo agreed. "But hey, let these people hope. Who knows the writers might change their minds and not continue with the development."
"You're right." Hae-in chuckled.
"Hae-in?"
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering—" Jin-woo bit his cheek, albeit in hesitation. "Do you want to go to the amusement part with me?"
"Amusement park?" Hae-in blinked. "Isn't that too crowded? We could get recognize and who knows what else can get into people's minds!"
"Who cares? We're humans. We need to take some breaks." Jin-woo huffed. "So, what do you say?"
In the end, Hae-in agreed.
Thankfully, their managers were kind enough to help them. Song-yi gave them wigs and hats as disguises while Jin-chul called for some guards to act as civilians to keep an eye on the two.
Hae-in wore a brown wig that was long and wavy while Jin-woo wore a black one that swept down to his chest. Even with his appearance, Hae-in made him put on a mask since his face was still distinguishable.
Their time in the amusement park was a success. Hae-in realized how she had never taken a complete break ever since she started the show. But she was thankful for Jin-woo. He was truly different than the actors she had worked with.
He was fun, compassionate, and clearly knew what he was doing.
"I love you." He said to her when they were filming a scene where their characters had reunited.
"CUT!" The director yelled. "Mr. Sung, you were supposed to say 'I am glad to see you', not 'I love you'!"
"Oh." Jin-woo became dumfounded. "Right, sorry!"
"Take two!"
On the other hand, Hae-in couldn't help but feel flustered. Fortunately, she managed to get through the shoots without letting that moment slide into her mind.
Things had gotten a bit awkward between her and her co-star. . .
Once the day ended, Jin-woo had approached her and told her the truth. He let those words slip out of his mouth because he did love her and it had been going on for almost a year.
Perhaps most of those scenes where he was looking at her in awe were not acting at all. . .
But in the end, rather than voicing her feelings out, Hae-in rose on her toes and wrapped her arms around Jin-woo's neck to kiss him.
They had begun dating after that day.
Even if it was only in secret, and since they were not ready for an uproar, the two stars were happy and had spent their breaks cuddling with each other and planning their dates once the shooting was over.
Jin-woo had taken her to his family when Christmas came and Hae-in did not expect how welcomed she would be, especially Jin-ah.
Even though they forbid their friends from ever sharing their personal lives, it did not stop them from expressing it low-key in their posts about the show. All the couple did was shake their heads and just ignore those people
After all, what mattered was they love each other and that was it.
