To say you’re good looking would be a severe understatement and everyone knew it

Even hiro had to admit that when he first saw you he had to take a moment to collect himself

Which only got worse when you got introduced to him and became part of the group

And of course, you eventually started dating

Hiro never said it out loud but DAMN

Seriously, you’re really good looking and even if he tries to act non chalant it was getting more and more difficult to ignore

He was always reminded of it too

You’d be walking to the bus station or maybe just walking back to the lucky cat cafe

Hiro was used to it, I mean he knew and everyone knew so it wasn’t some elaborate secret

You’d just been chilling and goofing off like usual when a presumably student approaches you two

They completely ignore hiros presence and aim for you

They immediately ask for you to be their muse for their paintings and the other asks if you’d do the same but for their photographs

Eventually the group arrives and they (especially gogo) shoos them away and the rest of the evening continues

But it isn’t until you’re walking back to the lucky cat cafe after getting off a bus that some rando was near by and approached

Same old same old

But it was different, the person asked if you’d like to join their company and who knows what really

In the end they handed you a card for a modeling company and when you turned to a very confused hiro and explained how this was one of many cards you have in your drawer back home he was flabbergasted

I mean not only did you catch everyone’s attention and made hiro feel excluded by that but also making him feel insecure

Yea, actually shocking

You could tell hiro wasn’t in the best mood once you got back to his room and when you ask he just explodes

Not at you- just in general

He goes off on how he feels and his cheeks flush and angry red when he begins to explain his jealousy in a non direct way

He knew you’d tease him but when you hugged and reassured him instead he already felt better

Best believe hiro was TEASED when you two first got together by the group

I mean it was so obvious how he couldn’t even look you in the eye at first because of how good looking you were

It was all just so funny and knowing you like him back made it even more so

“Hey, Tadashi? Can I see your notes?”

Tadashi nodded, passing over his notebook to her. Distracted by his equations, he stared at his laptop, scribbling away on a spare page.

Honey Lemon looked over at the Tadashi’s notebook, eyes furrowing at the writing.

“This is your writing?”

Startled by her outburst, Tadashi and their other friends looked over.

“What do you mean?” Tadashi asked. “Their my notes, who’s writing could it be?”

GoGo pushed her office chair over, glancing over Honey Lemon’s shoulder.

“It’s pretty,” the dark haired girl commented. “Are you into calligraphy or something, Hamada?”

“No, my writing has always been like that,” the guy responded, setting aside his work. “Is it really that strange?”

Honey Lemon grabbed the notebook and showed it to the boys.

“Doesn’t this look really pretty for any science major?”

Fred glanced over and nodded. “That’s nicer than Wasabi’s writing.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Wasabi said before analyzing Tadashi’s writing. “They’re right though, it looks much nicer than mine.”

Tadashi took his notebook back and looked at his words. “I’ll admit that my writing does look really nice, but what about it?”

Honey Lemon’s eyes sparkled. “Maybe its your soulmate’s!”

“Honey is onto something,” GoGo agreed. “No offense, but there’s no way you developed this kind of writing while you were being nerds with us and trying to solve equations.”

“None taken,” Tadashi replied. He looked at the writing and smiled softly. “My soulmate, huh?”

Tadashi knew that soulmates would often develop the same writing styles. The only way to figure out who it was would be seeing their identical writing - which was easier said than done.

“Good luck finding her,” Fred said, popping in a chip. He munched away, looking thoughtful. “Actually, it should be a breeze for you, not many people have that writing style.”

Feeling hopeful, Tadashi nodded. He’d find you soon. After solving his homework that is.

“Tadashi!” 

Hearing the sound of his younger brother, the male stopped and peeked into their shared bedroom.

“Come here and sign this card for Aunt Cass,” Hiro said, waving around a handmade card. “Her birthday is next week, so I decided to be the responsible one and got her a card this time around.”

“Wow,” Tadashi said sarcastically. “Great work, knucklehead.”

Hiro stuck out his tongue.

When Tadashi opened up the card, he spotted the calligraphy of the words, ‘Wishing you a happy birthday~’, and froze. It looked exactly like his.

“Where did you get this?” he asked, quickly signing his name.

Hiro chewed on a gummy bear in thought.

“I think I got it from some charity sale from downtown. They’re raising funds to give art supplies to elementary schools.”

“I see,” Tadashi mumbled, nodding. Perhaps you were closer than he thought.

“Thanks so much, Tadashi,” Cass exclaimed, handing him a tray of food. “Just bring this food over to the corner table over there and you’ll be free for the day.”

“Sure, Aunt Cass?” he asked, taking it and making sure he didn’t drop anything. “I’m not busy right now...”

Cass waved him away. “You helped out all day, go and enjoy your youth!”

Tadashi chuckled and nodded. Heading to serve the table, he could hear the voices floating from the table.

“You’re the best (Y/N)! I can’t believe you managed to get all those cards done for me. I owe you!”

“Obviously,” a playful voice responded. “But, I’m glad my writing was able to help. Just let me know ahead of time next time so my hand isn’t so sore from all that writing...”

The other girl giggled. “Do you think you could do this one last card? I want to give it to my boyfriend because its his birthday today.”

“Yeah, no problem!”

Tadashi stood by the table, holding onto the tray.

“Did someone order a hot chocolate and brownie?” he asked politely.

One girl gestured to the (H/C) haired girl sitting across from her, busying writing in a card. “That would be (Y/N)! I’m actually on my way out.”

Tadashi nodded, setting the drink and food down. He couldn’t help but look at the writing of (Y/N) after hearing that conversation. Just as he suspected, the writing was identical to his.

“Here you go,” you said, handing the pen and card back to your friend. “Enjoy the birthday party!”

“I will! Bye!”

Watching her leave, you turned back to see your order in front of you. Turning to the waiter, you offered him a smile.

“Thank you!”

“No problem,” the charming guy replied. “I’m Tadashi, by the way. Uh, I’m sorry for staring, but I think you might be my soulmate.”

You sat up a little straighter. Reaching for a pen and paper, you handed it to him. Tadashi took the seat across from you, scribbling away on the paper. When he handed it back to you, you couldn’t help but break into a smile as you wrote the exact same words back in the same elegant calligraphy.

“Nice to finally meet you, Tadashi! I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble with my fancy writing,” you greeted sheepishly.

“Not at all,” he exclaimed. “It just made it easier to find you, (Y/N). I’m glad to finally have found you - I look forward to getting to know you. Your writing is just as pretty as you are, soulmate.”

“This is fucking ridiculous!” For half an hour now you’ve been trying to get your stupid moped–which is really more of a scooter–to start. Thanks to the old contraption, you are now twenty minutes late to a job interview at a local cafe you had applied to earlier this week. At least you were able to call the cafe’s owner and tell her about your sorry, stranded ass. In response, she told you not worry about it, that she’d interview you when you got to the cafe. Bless her soul. “Stupid piece of junk! Why’d you choose today of all days to quit on me!”

You’re about to kick it out of frustration when someone clears their throat. You turn quickly, surprised by the sudden noise.

“Everything okay?” The newcomer asks you with curious brown eyes and kind smile.

If you weren’t so irritated, you would’ve taken a moment to appreciate the kind, tall, looking male, but since you are, you don’t. Instead, you practically growl and roll your eyes away from him. “Does it look like everything is okay?” you murmur, going back to your motor vehicle.

The stranger chuckles heartily, not at all taken aback by your abrasive attitude. “Need any help? I’m pretty good at these types of things.”

You pull away from your moped to look at the stranger once more. He’s still smiling, and he looks more amused than anything. With a shrug, you take a step back to let him inspect your bike. “Knock yourself out.”

He nods, removing his over the shoulder book bag and placing it next to your backpack. He takes a quick look at the engine and the wiring, and starts moving things around and tinkering.

You cross your arms over your chest, narrowing your eyes and frowning. “Hey, if you mess up my bike any more than it already is, I swear I’ll hunt you down. You got it?”

He looks back at you once and sends a wink in your direction. “Loud and clear.”

You hold back the snort threatening to escape as he returns to his ministrations. You take that moment to actually survey the male. Black hair peeking out from under a San Fransokyo Ninjas hat, beige cardigan over a white shirt, and washed out black jeans paired with a pair of old green converse. Completely mismatched but somehow making it work on his tall, lean body.

Average yet attractive. Is that a thing?

Apparently so.

He rolls up the sleeves of his cardigan over his forearm, showcasing strong muscles hidden from view.

Maybe not as average as you thought… definitely attractive though.

You bite your lip as his muscles flex every now and then as he tinkers with your machine–completely mesmerized by them, almost missing when he lets a triumphant harrumph. “And… there!”

You quickly look up at the male as he stands up, smiling broadly when the engine no longer sputters but purrs smoothly.

“How did you do that?”

“Told you I was good at it,” he says, moving to grab his bag off from the floor.

“Looks like you really weren’t all bark and no bite.”

“Ouch,” he winces teasingly, the hint of amusement never leaving his smile or eyes. “Anyone ever tell you you’re not very good at showing people your gratitude after they fixed your bike?”

“Every once in awhile I’m told,” you tell him, smirking. “Momma tells me I won’t make any friends with my attitude.”

“Well,” he starts as you pick up your own backpack and slip your arms into the sleeves, “if it’s any consolation, I can tell by your sarcastic undertones, rude comments and sheer lack of common decency, that you and I could be best friends in no time.”

You laugh, putting your helmet on while climbing your moped. “Is that what you think?”

“Oh, I know it. I’m Tadashi by the way.”

You look at the outstretched hand he offers you before your eyes slip up to his face. Brown eyes are twinkling with mischief and a warmness you’ve never seen before. You’re almost tempted to take it and stay with him for a little while longer to talk; that is, until you remember you’re broke and have no job, and need one desperately. “Nice to meet you, Tadashi! I’m late, but I am thankful you were able to fix my bike. Maybe next time you fix it, I’ll give you my name.” You wink at him before driving away from him, only looking back at him once through the rearview to see him grinning.

Your interview goes smoothly unlike your trip trying to get here. Cass–the owner of the cafe–is a complete sweetheart and even hires you on the spot, giving you a quick tour of the cafe since it isn’t full as of yet.

“The recipes for the drinks and sandwiches are in this book right here. Anytime you need to go over them, they’ll be right here,” she says, picking up the small book on the counter in the kitchen. “I’ll give you copies of the recipes so you can study them at home but don’t stress too much about remembering them. Not even my nephews and I remember them sometimes,” she jokes.

She then introduces you to her twelve-year-old nephew, Hiro, who looks oddly familiar. When he grins, you see a gap between his front teeth that makes you want to ruffle the mop of black hair sitting on his head.

“Aunt Cass, I’m home,” a familiar voice calls out from the front of the store.

You freeze, recognizing the voice. There’s only one person who has that deep and raspy of a voice, and that’s the boy you met earlier. Tadashi. But there’s no way… right? Coincidences only happen in movies, not in real life, right? Maybe there’s someone out there in the world who lives in the same city as him that has an identical voice as him–

“Tadashi!” Cass calls out, immediately telling him to join all of you in the kitchen.

–or not.

What are the odds?

You watch as an unsuspecting Tadashi walks into the kitchen, ready to greet his Aunt and brother only to spot you standing next to them with a sheepish smile.

“You!”

“It’s me,” you utter with a shrug.

Cass looks between the two of you with obvious curiosity, a grin breaking out on her face when she notices your discomfort. “You two know each other?”

“He’s the one that fixed my bike.”

Now it’s Tadashi’s turn to grin, not waiting for Hiro or Cass to react to your revelation. “I guess I didn’t have to wait to fix your bike again to get your name.”

“Guess not.”

You’ve been working at the Lucky Cat cafe for a couple of months now and it’s been a lot of fun. Especially when your shifts align with Tadashi’s. He’s always doing something to make you laugh in the kitchen, or when you’re behind the counter taking orders. And apparently, it’s his favorite pastime, too. Hiro had let it slip the other day that Tadashi will sometimes beg him to switch shifts whenever the younger Hamada and you have the same schedule.

You couldn’t help but tease Tadashi about it afterward.

Guess what he said back when you first met was true, you did become best friends (and more). The two of you started hanging out outside of work; getting acquainted with his friends and him with yours. If you aren’t hanging out with your friends, sometimes you’ll hang out in his lab with him, and other times he’ll hang out in your studio with you. 

Today is one of those days that Tadashi is hanging out at your studio while you’re trying to finish a piece for a class. You can feel his eyes on you as you stroke your brush over the canvas, and it’s starting to unnerve you. “What?”

“Nothing.” You can hear the smile in his voice and it makes you wonder if he ever stops smiling. It’s like, every time you see him, there’s a permanent smile on his face. It’s cute, but it worries you that his lips will start twitching soon.

“Really? Because you’re still staring. Do I have something on my face?”

He snorts in response, “No.”

“Then?” you ask him, putting your brush down to turn in your stool and look at him. “What is it?”

His books are all over the floor and he’s sitting in between the mess he’s made, and just as you heard in his voice, he is smiling. It’s a soft smile, a smile you realized is just reserved for you. You’ve never seen him direct it at anyone but you. Not even Honey Lemon, who you thought was his girlfriend at first. “Do you really want to know?”

You roll your eyes playfully and lean forward. “I wouldn’t be asking if I didn’t want to know.”

He chuckles, the sound raspy, deep and gentle. “I guess not.”

“So what is it? Why are you staring at me?”

His eyes shine with a warmness–that resembles the look in his eyes the first time you met–and they narrow into gentle crescents as he continues to gaze at you. “Because you’re so beautiful, I can’t keep my eyes off of you.”

Heat crawls up your neck, your eyes widening slightly at his confession, and he chuckles again in response, his smile growing wider. You turn away from him, shyly, opting to glare at your painting instead of him. “Stop smiling like a creep.”

He lets out a boisterous laugh accompanied by the sound of shuffling. “Well, you see, that’s kind of hard to do.”

“Why?” you squeak when he’s standing beside you, hunching over to be at your level.

“Because… there’s just something about you that makes me smile.”

Your lips curl automatically as you try to push away your embarrassment to say, “You’re such a dork.”

“Yeah,” he breathes when his lips attach to your cheek, “but I’m your dork.”

Hes seriously a bit freaked out- have you seen him when hes barely even being hugged?

He’s so stiff

So let’s be realistic and say that he’s pretty scared of you

He avoids you like the plague at first, even when you’re just friends

At least then you had the decency to pretend to be sorry

But you’ve been together for awhile now so he should be used to your assaults every 10 seconds

Not only are you always holding his hand (which he can barely even handle) but you often cuddle up to him and kiss him when he’s fine with it

Which is more often than not, but you’re usually met with an awkward blushing hiro

He’s even worse if you exhibit these behaviors along with a seemingly never ending praise

Honestly he’d prefer if you kept these affections to the minimum when you’re in public

Not that he’s ashamed of you or anything

Summary: you’re rarely the touchy type but when you get into a fight with your parents you leave home. The only person on your mind is Hiro so you drop by his house in hopes of comfort.

They were so stupid. Obviously you felt even more strongly about your parents at the moment but that’s what automatically came to mind.

They just don’t understand and sure you’re acting like an angsty misunderstood teenager but that’s exactly what’s happening. Whatever, they’re the reason their teen kid is walking out at night.

Well, regardless of what you thought you were brought out of your head. You were now in front of hiros window, the window that you’d try and climb and hope to not get caught doing so.

Luckily for you, you brought along some gadget you invented while at SFIT so with some A LOT of effort you managed to make it through his window.

Ok, step 1 complete.

That’s all you got, you hadn’t planned ahead and now you were standing in the middle of Hiros bedroom luckily without causing any sort of racket What a lie

Well because of how in your own head you were you completely tuned out the footsteps walking towards the door. Aaaaand now you’re face to face with Hiro..

“Uhh hi?” He says a bit awkwardly, he’d been taking a shower if the towel around his neck and wet hair was anything to go by.

He steps out of the door frame and into the room. He’s staring at you…

“So? Why’re you here” you can practically hear his smile through his tone.

“Oh! Well uh… I just wanted to hang out” that’s all you said, he immediately got it and stepped closer, a little too close.

“Kay, want to play games or something?” He asked nonchalantly, and of course you answered-

It had been fun, you and hiro were laughing until it hurt if the ridiculous drawings of each other were anything to go off of.

Half way through your little hang out Cass might have heard the commotion as she popped in and offered some sweet snacks, luckily not suspecting anything.

Now? It was quiet, you both calmed down and you were sitting on his bed and he was standing.

“So uhh, what’s been up with you?” He asks obviously stepping on egg shells around you.

“Huh?” You perk up “what’re you talking about?” You really didn’t know.

He laughs awkwardly “don’t think I haven’t noticed your weird behavior.”

You cleared you throat but hiro interjected “look I-“

Suddenly hiro back was against the wall and despite almost tripping over Baymaxs charge box-thing he managed to hold onto you, you were hugging him.

What you did didnt sink in until you felt his hands reach around you.

Suddenly you became hyper aware, he was breathing close to your neck, his hair was tickling your cheek and most of all? You could feel his heart pounding against yours, and to say it rivaled it wasn’t exactly an understatement.

You held him back of course, your face hid away in his neck and after a moment of stiffness hiro relaxed once more.

You thought you were being silly for reacting this way, but hiro? He was just as much head over heels for you as you were for him.

His face was bright red and all he could hope was for you not to notice, he really couldn’t handle any teasing after this.

Then you let go and backed away. Seeing your face was much more reassuring for him.

It was silent until you both spoke

“I-“hey” you glanced from the floor to him in an instant

“Sorry- “you can go first”, you guys spoke at the same time, again..

You spoke up once and for all “you speak first, please do..” the last part was said in your head but who’s to say otherwise?

“Uh, what’s really up with you?” He breathed in and then out “you can tell me, and if you don’t want to? Well that’s ok.”

The last feelings of conflict left you and you finally told hiro about the big fight with your insufferable parents- albeit in a bunch of jumbled words.

He smiled obviously trying to hide it and when he asked why you hugged him? You told him that you just wanted to be held…

WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT??-

“Oh..” hiros face went ablaze and was now covered in a darker shade of red. Atleast now he couldn’t tease or say anything sarcastic-

He spoke again “then I’m assuming you’re sleeping here?”

And boy was he right, now you’re here laying in his bed while he brushes his teeth.

Luckily Cass had a spare and he let you use the restroom before him.

Now you were laying here in suspense, your heart was practically pounding in your chest and you were filled with all kinds of nervous energy.

The door creaked open and in popped in hiros head, then followed by him as a whole.

He stood around the bed for a second, very obviously hesitating. Then he went all in and laid down

He was faced away from you but once you reached out to touch his neck it was hot to the touch.

“U-uHm” his voice cracked “you want to talk about it any more?”

He was going for the normal approach

“No, just… hold me, ok?” You really didn’t know how to respond, was it even possible to say this in a relatively normal way? You rlly don’t think so.

He flushed again then opened his arms. You joined to lay in them and despite the constant pounding of a heart you couldn’t decide was his or yours; you enjoyed it.

It was nice to finally be able to be affectionate with someone.

The next morning rolled around and the two of you got ready and headed down.

You two were met with a delicious looking breakfast and cass may have picked up on the energy between you two because she asked

That morning you witnessed your boyfriend hiro having the Heimlich maneuver performed on him by no other than his own aunt.

A prodigy, much like him

You two got close, we all know how it goes

But even tho hiro acts stupid sometimes let’s remember that he is quite literally a kid genius

So

He catches on pretty quickly when your focus is on the body and its recovery with certain illnesses and health issues

Particularly when you’re just casually showing him something and accidentally cut yourself pretty deep

But you play it off, then surrender and let him take care of you
