hope this isn’t pestering, but mayhaps a bit of commentary on chapter 3 of raised by wolves? Whichever bit you want really. I’ve reread it like twenty times I cannot get it out of my head, would love to hear some of your thoughts!
not pestering never pestering even if i take a short geological age to respond because i am SO tired and forgetty. owo. raised by WOLVESSSSS
["How are you calm about this?" Arum growls, gesturing towards Damien as if indicating... all of him, perhaps. Which is arguably unkind, though not unfair.]
I'll be honest Damien NOT freaking out about Rilla keeping a secret from him for as long as they've known each other..... i mean, tbh i could see a number of universes where he DID freak out, but again- in those verses, Rilla probably panicked and bailed. not the specific story i wanted to write, lol. Also? Damien isn't really.... """calm""" about this. he's resigned to it, but that's not the same as calm. He's had a number of PRIVATE but SCREAMING breakdowns about this and held himself together for the sake of not causing Rilla to bolt.
because this particular Rilla is extremely prone to bolting, freezing up, and blocking people out. safety first, when your secrets could get you slain!
["How have you not driven yourself out of your mind for worry about what could be going on behind your back? She could be sick, someone could be blackmailing her, she could be cursed."]
lol she kinda is cursed tho. anyway. poor Arum honestly. he's absolutely freaking out in his own way, too. arum voice YOU must be worried about all these things! they definitely aren't things that IM worried about!!!!! god he's so bad at being vulnerable.
[Damien sighs again, and then he pushes himself to stand from his own seat, moving closer to drop himself onto the cushion beside Arum instead, leaving a hand on the monster's shoulder and ignoring entirely when Arum growls at him.]
Damien has had a lot of time to sit with this. he knows that Arum hasn't. Arum is getting all this tension fresh. Damien is extremely sympathetic to that.
["I am calm about this," Damien says gently, "because the other option I could see, before, was to lose her. I know her," Damien says, ignoring the way that Arum startles.]
Damien is, generally speaking, terrible at holding his anxieties in check, even when the results are disastrous. His exceptions seem to be when he convinces himself of something. This Damien has, out of necessity, convinced himself to pretend like he isn't worried. He's convinced himself that she will tell him, when she's ready (this has not proven true, alas).
["I know that if I tried to push her, if I tried to interrogate her… it would only push her away. And…" Damien feels his jaw tighten, his brow furrowing, and he forces himself back to tranquility as best he can. "Well, my strongest theory for the past few years has been that her… whatever her secret, whatever causes her to hide away, I thought that perhaps it had something to do with her parents and their Exile. I would certainly never wish to press her on that particular matter, it hurts her so to discuss it."]
The thing is: He Isn't Wrong. I haven't revealed MUCH about how Rilla got where she is with the whole lycanthropy thing, but....... yeah. Her parents are a factor.
annnnnnd i've probably rambled enough for now, if there's other sections you want me to talk about just lmk i LOVE rambling 💖💖💖

Hallmark has officially released their list of movies and premiere dates for Countdown to Christmas and Miracles of Christmas and folks, I have a few takeaways:
The lack of puns in titles this year is horrific (is it a casualty of the strike or was morale just really low with the executive turnover and no one wanted to have fun as a result?), but the Best Title Award goes to Never Been Chris’d, about best friends who go back to their hometown for Christmas and end up in a love triangle with the boy they both had a crush on in high school. Or person - the description does not give Chris pronouns and the love triangle is described as "complex." Color me intrigued (UPDATE: RIP to this theory - EW confirms that Chris will be played by Tyler Hines. For additional notes, see comment 13).
There are two different movies based on Julia Roberts romcoms, Mystic Christmas and Christmas in Notting Hill and I'm not opposed but they already had a Hallmark movie loosely based on Notting Hill so I'm just saying [John Mulaney voice], "hey, that's the same joke twice!" Also, this sets precedent for the Movies & Mysteries movie Ms. Christmas Comes to Town (about a woman with a terminal diagnosis) to give Stepmom vibes, so uh, we'd better watch out.
There's a lot of movies about friend groups and best friends this year, but the one where the best friends are "Lori Jo" and "Tori" and they go on a roadtrip to "Yuletide Springs" sounds like a late night tv host pitched it as a joke and someone accidentally took it seriously.
TWO different movies about unexpected detours to a remote island during Christmastime and neither of them is called The Island of Misfit Toys.
The screenwriter for A Heidelberg Holiday really couldn't come up with a better name for the main character than Heidi Heidelberg? What, did they lose a bet?
A Merry Scottish Christmas completely missed the opportunity to be called Make the Yuletide Gaelic and I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
Holiday Hotline is about a cooking hotline, but the anonymous caller is apparently named "John" so you will not be able to convince me that at least one of the drafts wasn't original pitched to a streaming service and about phone sex.
I can't tell if I like Catch Me If You Claus as a movie title because it at least tried for a pun, or if I hate it because it really did make the least amount of effort possible there. Plus, the premise of "news reporter has to figure out if Santa is real" is already the plot of a movie I came up with but haven’t written that I titled Santa Maybe and so clearly I can do better.
Holiday Road sounds like it has the potential to have some real Unaccompanied Minors level shenanigans but with grown ups and I’m here for it so long as a) at least one or two of these myriad characters is celebrating something other than Christmas and b) the “enigmatic woman” is a lesbian. Enigmatic women are so much more fun when they're lesbians.
I’m genuinely so excited for A Biltmore Christmas. Full stop. That is all.
A Not So Royal Christmas, in which a royal family has a groundskeeper pretend to be a Count, absolutely could have and should have been reworked into a Halloween movie, or at the very least have had the decency to have been called Count Down To Christmas.
TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP MOVIE TIME LOOP -
Every time I think there will be lesbians based on a description in the Hallmark app, I am proven wrong, but Friends & Family Christmas with a group of artists in New York has me breaking out the eyes emojis. (Variety confirmed the two female leads are in fact fake dating and I'm practically vibrating with excitement but also I can think of at least two ways that actually turns out to be straight so I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up until I hear more.)
I said last year that when they inevitably make Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas it should be about some lesbians and (see comment 13) not only is it not an lgbtq+ movie, but it’s about church choir with a dash of military propaganda thrown in, which might sound exactly right for a movie made by Country Music People(tm) but might also sound like it was designed to spite me, personally.
It's interesting how many movies this year are based on true events. It's nice - the last few years have been kind of crappy, globally, to say the least, and true stories of the magic of the holidays might be just what the doctor ordered.

A/N: hello!! this request sounds super lit but i am Scared of not writing their dialogue witty enough so imma just try my best! :D i hope you have a nice day as well hehe
genres: fluff, BIG angst, sort of happy ending?, tw death, tw blood and gore; 2k words
divine omniscience [Sukuna X Reader]
“Do you guys think it’s true? What Gojou-sensei said?” Nobara asks out of the blue as she casually munches on a fry that certainly was not from her tray.
“You gotta be more specific, dude,” Yuuji replies, speaking with his mouth half-full of burger. She scrunches her nose at him as she reaches for another one of Megumi’s french fries.
“Y’know when he said all that stuff about Sukuna having only one known trusted companion or whatever. I mean, everything in the texts seems pretty vague, no?”
“Yeah, ‘companion’ is not the kind of word I’d associate with someone like him.” Megumi chips in, pushing his tray closer to the girl sitting opposite him.
“Kinda wanted to ask if they meant it sexually but I swear he’ll just start giggling and wasting our time.”
The three friends continue to chatter on about their theories and interpretations of their earlier class’s contents, all the while completely unaware of the fourth party listening in–the one who is actually most knowledgeable on the topic they’re so oddly curious about.
Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that you are the one who knows the most, that is if you’re still alive. Though Sukuna doubts you died within the time he was away. You’re too smart for that.
The village chanted, faces obscured behind masks carved from wood and dyed red from the colour of the witch’s blood. Watching from within the shadows, Sukuna felt compelled to observe the ritual, having never felt such a strong surge in cursed energy in his entire existence.
He was proven to have wrongly assumed it was coming from the outraged villagers when they finally set your crucified body alight and a blanket of black cursed energy covered the area, engulfing every single one of the citizens beneath it. Bone-chilling screams and begs for mercy filled his ears, the sound muffled but satisfying to listen to nonetheless.
When the strange turn of events finally came to an end and the energy receded into your bloodied and broken body, the King of Curses himself decided that he’d finally found someone worth his time.
At the end of your torturous life as a human and the start of your existence as a newly born cursed spirit, you were honestly a little too much for Sukuna to handle. Despite having never heard of cursed energy or jujutsu sorcery, you were quick to pick up everything you needed to know and then some.
Not only were you dangerously intelligent, but you were also completely unphased by him and his raw power, no matter how much he made sure to display it–whether it be in the form of exterminating a town of people or setting a forest ablaze with just a snap of his fingers.
“Scared yet?” he would ask, a smug grin on his face. You would smile back without a hint of sarcasm or dishonesty.
“No,” you’d reply without a second thought, “because I know you will never hurt me.”
What Sukuna initially assumed was well-hidden arrogance turned out to be a mere fact you were stating. A piece of truth you’d gained due to the nature of your ever-growing curse technique. Outwardly, the King could deny it all he wanted to, he could threaten you day and night, grab your throat and tighten his grip just to prove you wrong but he would never–has never–done any harm unto you.
When he had come to accept that as the truth, he tried deluding himself into believing he kept you around merely for your wealth of knowledge and powerful supply of cursed energy. Those were, in fact, his reasons at the start of it all–they were why he even walked into the village that fateful day and used his reverse cursed technique on you.
“You can say that all you want,” you once said, reaching up to wipe the blood off his face with your sleeve while the same red substance stained your own skin, “but we both know the main reason you keep me by your side.”
He did not respond.
Instead, he scoffed and grabbed your chin with one hand before raising the other and mimicking your gesture. With an uncharacteristic tenderness, Sukuna wiped the blood off your face with his thumb as the cries of the dying soldiers around you slowly faded to nothing.
“Their name was (Y/N).” His voice echoes shortly within the confines of Yuuji’s dark bedroom.
“What?” the sorcerer blearily murmured, having been on the verge of falling asleep when the King of Curses himself decided to speak.
“My companion… though, they would have preferred the word ‘partner’... was named (Y/N).”
“Why’re you telling me this?” Yuuji groaned, rubbing his eyes.
“The inaccuracies your teachers spread to your friends are painful to listen to,” Sukuna scoffs. “Frankly, it’s insulting and disrespectful.” The cursed spirit’s choice of vocabulary throws his vessel off guard.
“... You must’ve liked them a lot, huh?” Yuuji responds, voice softer than before as he feels his initial frustration of being denied his sleep fading away. “It’s weird to imagine someone like you feeling indignant on someone else’s behalf.”
“Well,” Sukuna smirks to himself, “let’s just say they’re the only one I have any respect for in this godforsaken world.”
“He plans on betraying you,” you stated matter-of-factly, opening your eyes for the first time throughout the entire meeting.
Sukuna had called forth a few powerful cursed spirits under the pretence of forming an alliance, with his true intentions being to simply size them up and subtly intimidate them into leaving his newfound territory alone–if they valued their lives, that is. He didn’t need to tell you of his plans and he knew he didn’t have to for you to understand it completely.
The cursed spirit you’d singled out widened his eyes before his expression turned hostile. “Don’t spout bullshit! I’ve done nothing but agree with everything Sukuna-sama has said!”
Sukuna watched the events unfold silently, unable to help but feel something in his chest swell with warmth as he observed you.
“I know everything.” Your simple reply was enough to enrage the spirit who shot out of his chair and seemingly began to lunge in your direction.
“You fucking wh–!” he cried.
Where his head used to sit was a neck sliced cleanly through the middle as everyone in the room felt a gust of wind brush past their terrified faces. The only outliers were you and the perpetrator of the murder himself, both smiling as one would out on a walk on a pleasant afternoon. His skull bounces twice on the tatami flooring before it disappears alongside his body.
“That was a bit much, don’t you think, Sukuna?” The other cursed spirits practically break out in a cold sweat upon hearing you so daringly speak to the King of Curses after such a display of his power.
“That was merciful, my dear,” he responded casually, reaching out a clean hand to wipe away the droplets of blood that had reached your face. Still touching you, he turned to the others. “Does anyone else have anything to say?”
“No, they’re terrified,” you laugh when they fail to respond, all still shaking where they sat.
“Good–”
“Of me.”
He scrunches his nose and softly pushes your face away but a smile still creeps onto his face as he thinks to himself, ‘as they should be.’
Nobara and Megumi would find it hard to believe had the information not come directly from Yuuji’s mouth, as well as the additional mouth that had unceremoniously popped up on his cheek mid-conversation.
“You’re saying everything wrong!” Sukuna had exclaimed after making his appearance and refusing to leave until Yuuji had gotten all the facts right.
When he was finally satisfied, he still didn’t leave right away, sensing the two sorcerers wanted to know more. “Well?” He prompts. “Just ask your fucking questions already, we don’t have all day.”
“If you put it like that… then I’ll just ask it as it is and you’re not allowed to get all pissy, ‘kay?” Nobara responds. Megumi and Yuuji share a nervous glance.
“How’re you so sure they’re not dead?”
He wished he hadn’t left you on such a bad note; that he didn’t spit at your feet and push you away when you tried to stop him from leaving the temple in which you both sought refuge. He wished he’d at least bade you a proper farewell and that his last words to you didn’t consist of him questioning your abilities just so he could keep his ego intact.
As Sukuna laid dying, surrounded by Japan’s most powerful sorcerers, he realised, finally, that he would never see you again; or feel your hand wipe at his face after another victorious battle.
For the first time in his life, the King of Curses shed a tear.
The braver sorcerers scoffed, some even taunted him, assuming he was merely afraid of death, whereas the warier ones hesitated in approaching him to deliver the final blow, taken aback by the uncharacteristic gesture. Still, with his immense cursed energy forming a protective barrier around him as a last resort, the sorcerers hadn’t won the battle quite yet.
A few minutes later, in fact, they lost it.
Sukuna remains silent, pondering over Nobara’s question. As promised, he didn’t show his anger and hid his grief even better. Truth be told, he doesn’t know if you’re alive.
“I told you not to go,” you spoke, voice trembling as you rested his head in your lap, your hands wiping the blood off his face. “I told you you’d die, didn’t I? Why didn’t you listen? Why?”
The sound of your soft sobs mingled with the noise from outside the pitch-black barrier you’d placed around the both of you. The sorcerers who survived your ambush were chipping away at your cursed energy shield and it was only a matter of time before they would break through.
“Even after all I said to you before I left,” Sukuna murmurs, relishing in the feeling of your skin against his, “this is what you choose to scold me over?” He let out a weak chuckle.
“I know of your grief and regret, I know you’re sorry and I’ve long forgiven you.”
“Thank you, my (Y/N).” He turned his head to press his lips against your palm for the final time. “Now go. You have to escape before the damned sorcerers force their way in.”
“No.” Your defiant tone juxtaposed with your tear stricken face amused him. “I’ll be here to see you off and then I’ll kill them all.” You leaned forward to kiss his forehead. “I’ll wait for your return, my love.”
When Sukuna refused to answer Nobara’s question and promptly disappeared, the trio assumed that was the end of it all. As much as they wanted to leave the information behind them, they still find themselves talking about it as they wait in line at a new sushi place that opened near the school.
“Kinda weird he was so insistent on telling us everything, huh?” Yuuji remarks.
“I highly doubt that was close to everything, though.” Megumi scratches the back of his head. “It felt like he was withholding a lot, like when he didn’t answer Nobara’s question.”
“Yeah, that was pretty lame,” she says with a pout. “I really wanna know if they’re alive or not. I mean, their whole story was pretty interesting but imagine how scary it’ll be if (Y/N) was still alive and in Japan after all this time.”
“Table for three, please,” Yuuji says to the staff at the counter once it’s their turn. They stare at him for a brief moment before a happy yet somehow sinister smile stretches across their face. The jujutsu sorcerer feels his blood run cold as he feels Sukuna suddenly begin to vie for control over his body.
“Finally,” you whisper, body and soul flooded with sheer relief as tears run down your face. You reach your hand out to touch Yuuji’s face and though he tries his very hardest to turn away and run, he finds his body frozen in place. “I’ve been waiting for you, my love.”

Eeeeh, hello. Today I'm going to do a little column on Jake Lockley, like that, for no reason because Moon Knight is finished but not for me, and I miss it, and I don't think about anything else. So here I am making assumptions and theories about my handsome Jake Lockley. -3- Nice little parenthesis about my thoughts on Jake. In my opinion it is the alter who suffered the most from physical strokes as a child. So, we see that Marc took all the pain that his mother gave him, he remembers it, he lived it firsthand, and then he created Steven, who had become the host (the Host is the one who lives the most daily life day by day and that's what frees itself from pain, who does not remember it, I mean, the alters are created precisely because the primary subject can't stand the suffering, but here the opposite has happened, i.e. Marc remembers, so he protected Steven (despite being the alter), making him become the host of his own free will, so that he could live a happy life. I don't know if I made myself clear, I hope so.), however, we don't know much about Jake, so or at some point point Marc could no longer bear the physical and mental pain that his mother inflicted on him and Jake entered, or there was another trauma that gave him birth, but anyway, in the comics, Steven arrived first and then after a few weeks/month appeared Jake, in an age group where Marc he was still a kid anyway, so I guess that's the case in the show too, until proven otherwise. And so it's a shame we didn't show us his story because I really want to frame him better, but I've also read the comics so my thinking is also influenced by that. Jake for me is the person who has the task of protecting Marc and Steven from extreme events or from dangers they cannot handle, which is also shown in the series. There is something wrong? Are Marc and Steven overloaded with everything? Jake arrives to protect them and make the villain regret having brought them to that threshold. He is the one who has a quiet job, he is a taxi driver, he takes information, he also helps people of course, he is not just the violent type, no, even if he likes to give the bad guys the lesson they deserve. Sometimes he is also very sweet, yeah, in his own way, in his gruff way of being but the cares about the people he loves, protects and helps them and not just using his fists, also talking and giving advice. Jake's just a foul-mouthed and a little aggressive guy, but he's good. And then in some comics he is also working on himself on not killing people, even if at the beginning he does it more for Marc and Steven, but it is still an important fact because he shows that he would do anything for them; then decides, over time, not to kill because he no longer wants to be a monster, and this also shows that he is not a crazy killer, because he knows how to control himself, he knows how to understand that his horrible actions have repercussions on his mind and conscience and that's how he decides he doesn't want to commit them anymore. I hope I was clear, I don't think I said everything but I can still add more about my thoughts on Jake later. Now I start talking with episode one, of course. :3

Fuck. I’m Gay.
I’ve been reading a lot of ml salt fics lately (mainly @unmaskedagain which is a literal goldmine of saltiness). And getting into the Damienette ship. Marinette really does deserves better (Fuck Canon) but so does Adrien. He is not a “sidekick”. Chat Noir and Ladybug are partners = equals. So I decided why not write a fic where Adrien gets his own happy ending in the form of a grumpy assassin-turned-vigilante that loves animals more than people.
Somewhat of a crack writing where creative liberties were definitely taken.
.
.
.
Lila Rossi is a bitch and everyone knew it. Well, by everyone, Adrien means himself, his good-amazing-make-pastries-for-him friend Marinette, his maybe-not-really-sure friend Chloe and his-not-that-close-really-classmate Nathaniel.
Yeah. It was a small number.
But Lila is still a bitch.
Anyway, Lila’s lies and manipulations have disturbed the status quo and not in a good way. She ended up making the majority of the class fawn over her like she was a perfect goddess and not a pompous-temperamental-hormonal teenager. Teenagers were prone to be gullible; he can understand his classmates being inclined to believe her. But this was utterly ridiculous (man, Chloe is rubbing off on him). No. You know what’s even more ridiculous? Ms. Bustier letting Lila get away with it. She doesn’t even stop the class mistreating Marinette who claimed she was a bully just because of you know who - Fucking Lila Rossi. The audacity of that bitch and her bitchy followers, am I right?
Growing up he watched the tv shows and the animes. High schools always had their drama but he thought that was to get some plot going on. He didn’t think it was an actual thing that happens in real life. But he was proven wrong. Françoise Dupont High School had their drama and it was way worse than what he watched on screen.
The worst part was that he couldn’t get away from Lila. Or he’ll be pulled from school (Fuck you Dad). He had to sit next to that bitch and listen to her drone on and on about things they both knew she didn’t do, about things she promised to do for her ever gullible followers friends. And couldn’t say anything against it if he wanted to stay in school. But even his discreet questioning didn’t do that much. It got some of the class to think something’s possibly fishy with her stories but not enough to think Lila was evil. So he just gave up. Because what was even the point?
He was distancing himself from Alya and Nino. He couldn’t really be friends with people who thought Lila held the sun and moon. They didn’t hang out as much as they used to and he made excuses when they did invite him to stuff. Lately, he was making outrageous excuses - like he had to take his cat to the vet even though he didn’t have a cat - to see if they caught on. They didn’t. It was fun but he didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad about that. But feeling sad-depressed-pain over it was a bitch so he decided to take his victories as they come.
Chloe had left the school earlier on. Her mom wanted to spend one-on-one time with her daughter (Yeah, Audrey is better at being a mother here). She was completely out of this drama mess. And Nathaniel kept his head down to not paint a target on himself.
His only consolation and ally in this whole mess was Marinette. His darling angel. His sunshine incarnate. His own goddess (not like that bitch Lila let’s get one thing straight).
When he was feeling overwhelmed (which was a lot), he spent it at her house. They spent it discussing fashion, trash talking Liar-la and the sheep class, playing video games, and making/eating the best baked goods in all of Paris. If he wasn’t at his photo shoots or at school, he was at her house. And with how often they spent time with each other, it wasn’t long before they accidentally revealed their alter egos to each other.
(The class’ Everyday Ladybug was actually Ladybug. How amazing is that! Isn’t Marinette the absolute coolest?!)
Since they outed themselves to each other, they had to give up their miraculous. And new heroes had to be chosen. As the guardian, Marinette decided to give the Ladybug miraculous to herself and the Cat one to Adrien. And make them the superheros of Paris.
(Just when he thought that Marinette couldn’t get any cooler)
They both collectively decided that being friends were for the best and put away their obsession crush over the other far far away. Now they were best friends-almost siblings. Oh who was he kidding? He was an honorary Dupain-Cheng. Marinette and her parents said so. And who was he to deny the goddess?
All was well.
Until he met this gorgeous boy with raven black hair and piercing green eyes that made him question everything in life.
Like fuck. His life wasn’t hard enough already?
.
It was a slow patrol. Just stopped a few petty crimes. No akuma tonight. He wasn’t really expecting much to happen.
Mari said patrolling regularly gives citizens a sense of security and it helps if one of them were on scene if an akuma does appear.
He didn’t mind. He loved running on the rooftops and feeling the wind in his face. After some time, he stopped and stood on top of one of the tallest buildings. Just soaking the view. The peace and serenity of it all. Seeing the glowing lights of his beloved city. Seeing the Eiffel Tower standing tall and proud.
(Forget school. Forget Liar-la and her hoard of bitches)
This was his city. This was why he fights Hawk Moth with Ladybug. They had something precious to protect.
He was done patrolling the regular routes and all his schoolwork was already finished. He could go to sleep but he didn’t feel that tired. And he really didn’t want to go back home. Mari shared her theory on his dad being Hawk Moth. She had really good reasons and a plethora of proof. If they could switch miraculous, why couldn’t he and Mayura - most likely Nathalie? Which would explain how Gabriel got akumatized.
After all her support with dealing with Lila, he was way more inclined to believe her even without the evidence. But those things just made him more wary of his dad. And he wasn’t too stoked on spending more time than what he can get away with with the guy. Because his dad being Hawk Moth explains why he wants Lila (his strongest supporter - Chameleon and Oni-chan, anyone?) close and makes Adrien play nice with her. And anyone who enables Lila’s bitchiness is on his enemy list.
Anyway, he was out here to enjoy the good mood not think about evil bitches and evil dads. So he sat himself down and enjoyed the sights. It was more calming than you would think.
He heard cars blaring and even a dog barking. The slight breeze felt nice. The moon was pretty bright tonight. The stars too. There was a lone couple walking through the park. There was also another teen in black running on rooftops a few buildings away.
Wait.
What?
He blinked and looked again. Huh, there was another teen in black running on rooftops. And it was not a hallucination.
What the actual fuck?
He was instantly on his feet, baton already in hand as he raced across the roof to reach said stranger.
“Hey!”
But because he was the lucky owner of the unlucky miraculous, the moment he said that, the guy was about to jump off a building to presumably roll onto the next one like Chat was watching him do beforehand. But his call made him lose focus and Chat watched horrified as the guy slipped and started falling into the alley.
Oh fuck! Mari was going to fucking kill this dumbass kitty!
He hoped to everything that Mari thinks is holy that he makes it in time. Extending his baton, he used it as a huge Pogo stick to basically catapult himself towards the stranger and wrapped his arms around him as he braced himself for the full weight of hitting the gravel at this height and speed. But he wasn’t that that concerned. His suit protected him from the majority of the injuries that would’ve occurred if he wasn’t wearing it. It hurt but it isn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Remember earlier? He takes his victories as they come.
This was not the smartest of ideas, he’ll admit. Mari had the brains to be honest. But it wasn’t bad if he say so. And he does say so.
He rolled over and immediately looked over the stranger that was remarkably unharmed in this whole mess.
And oh.
Oh.
The stranger was taller than he was with a lithe and lean frame. He had raven black hair that complimented his tanned skin and gorgeous green eyes that pierced through him, making his heart do funny things.
He was not expecting him to look as hot as he did. He wore a simply black t-shirt and jeans but he looked like a fucking Adonis, what the fuck.  Even the moon shone down on him, highlighting his handsome features even more.
He shook himself of those thoughts and focused on what was more important. “I’m so sorry. Are you alright?”
He was rudely pushed away, but he didn’t take offense. He did cause the guy to fall after all.
“Do not touch me.” (What kind of accent is that?) “I’m fine. You are truly a moronic imbecile of the highest accord to yell like that. And what are you even supposed to be? Some kind of knock-off Catwoman?”
At that, Chat looked at Hot-And-Sexy weird. “Are you new here? I’m the superhero Chat Noir. I protect Paris with Ladybug.”
“You’re joking.”
“I know I come off as the goofy hero because I make purr-fect puns all the time but I’m not joking about this.”
He took out his phone to show the foreign (since he’s obviously not a Parisian) stranger the akuma attacks and Ladybug and Chat Noir being a dynamic duo, saving Paris and beating Hawk Moth. Ok, he showed the stranger a lot of stuff. Sue him. He gets to brag about his Princess. And himself too.
“I never heard about this before.” Hot-And-Sexy (he has got to come up with a better name) said afterward. “3 years this has been going on? Why didn’t you ask for help from the Justice League or other superheros?”
Chat shrugged. “We tried. But they said we’re obviously pulling a prank and making this all up. So we stopped asking for help.”
For some reason this made Hot-And-Sexy angry. “They ignored your plea for help and left you to fight for yourselves?”
“Pretty much, yea.”
“You and Ladybug are children.”
“Excuse me? Are you doubting our ability to protect our city?" He was not apologetic at the sharp edge his voice took. Forget looking hot. How dare he? The audacity really.
Hot-And-Sexy shook his head. “I’m not. I know some child superheroes who are adequate at their jobs and a few who are remarkable like Robin in Gotham. But the majority of them had adult mentors to guide them. From what you’ve shown me, you and Ladybug had no one. You were left alone to fend for yourself with essentially no help.”
He never thought of it that way. But hearing it like that made him think: Fuck Adults Who Chose Children to Fight Their War For Them and Fuck Hawk Moth For Putting Them In This Position In The First Place.
You know what. Just to clear all his bases - Fuck Everyone But The Dupain-Chengs.
Chat couldn’t help but shrug, not quite knowing what to say to that. “Life is a bitch, I’ve come to find out. But enough of that. Why were you running on rooftops anyway?”
“It calms me down.”
Relatable.
“Is...Is your tail moving?”
“Huh?” He looked behind him to see his tail was indeed moving lazily. “Yeah. I’m called Chat Noir for a reason.”
“May I touch them?” Chat was used to people (usually kids) pulling on his tail to see if it was real (It was). And it really hurts because they usually rough. Not that he blames them. Kids don’t know any better. Still, he usually says no when people ask.
But Hot-And-Sexy had such a sincere expression that he said yes. To his surprise and delight, Hot-And-Sexy was extremely gentle (Can this guy be anymore perfect?) and it felt nice to be petted like that. Curse his touch-starvation (again Fuck you Dad).
Hot-And-Sexy was apparently fascinated by his ears and tail.
“Are you a meta?” He noticed how Hot-And-Sexy’s voice turned softer and fonder (or was he imagining that?).
“Nah. I’m fully human. I just got powers to transform into this.” He looked down at his phone seeing that the time was nearing 2 am.
“Have you suffered any injuries from your stupid stunt?”
“Hmm?” Chat looked back at him before gesturing to his body. “Don’t worry. I may not look like it but I can take it.”
He can practically feel Hot-And-Sexy rolling his eyes. “What an utter dolt.”
But there wasn’t any heat behind it so he didn’t take it to heart.
“Thanks, babe.”
“That was an insult.”
“And I’m taking it like a compliment.”
Chat stood up and stretched his limbs. Hot-And-Sexy doing the same but dusting off his clothes instead.
“So, uh, need any help getting home?”
“I am perfectly capable of finding my own way, thanks.”
“Ok. Have a nice night.” He was about to leave when he was caught off guard by Hot-And-Sexy staring at him for a good few seconds, making his limbs freeze in place at the heavy attention.
Before he said. “You should try contacting the Batfamily in Gotham about Hawk Moth. They’re used to dealing with weird things. I’m sure they won’t turn you or Ladybug away.”
Chat was a bit distracted by how intensely those green eyes focused on him, making his heart beat faster and his cheeks turn a vibrant red.
He was so screwed.
He used his baton to shoot himself up so he can run on rooftops, hurrying to the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
.
“Mari! I think I’m gay!”
“It’s 2 in the morning, Chaton. Go to sleep and we’ll talk about it in the morning.”
.
After a good night’s rest (and thank everything that was right in the world that today was a weekend), Adrien told Mari all about Hot-And-Sexy. And yes, he did call the stranger that out loud. His everything-that-actually-matters sister simply took it in stride after giggling a bit. They spent the majority of the day discussing emotions and everything that came with that bundle.
Before he finally came to a conclusion.
He is definitely gay (He liked girls but not like like them). And most definitely had a crush on Hot-And-Sexy with the pretty green eyes.
Good news: He is no longer having a sexuality crisis.
Bad news: He is going through an emotional crisis.
Like dealing with these feelings that is making his stomach flip flop over and over again? The only one he ever had to deal with was the one he had on Ladybug and that (he talked with Mari about it months before. She was amazing with these emotional matters) was more of a hero-worship crush than anything really romantic.
And his crush on Hot-And-Sexy was so much more.
.
So it’s been about 2 weeks since he encountered Hot-And-Sexy. And he still haven’t figured out what else to call him. But the nickname was growing on him.
(He also told Mari about asking the Batfam for help but she was a bit apprehensive after the disastrous attempts of convincing the Justice League. He shrugged, trusting her opinion and left it at that)
Anyway, Lila was being her usual bitchy self. Father was being non-existent like always. Mari was his only source of sanity at school. And Hawk Moth was being a bitch.
Because of course, the day before they have a huge test, he decides to akumatize someone (in this case, a businessman who was really unhappy with getting fired) and cut in on study time. And this akuma took a while to defeat. Guess he drew a lot of strength from his burning hatred of the failings of the corporate world.
And just yesterday, a teenager who was upset at being grounded got akumatized and terrorized the city for 3 hours before Ladybug could purify her. It did however confirmed her fears. Hawk Moth was getting stronger. It took longer to defeat his monsters. They needed to find him and ended this fast.
Adrien landed on Mari’s balcony and slipped in her room, crashing on her big comfy bed, de-transforming on the spot. Plagg sleepily floating and laying next to him on the pillow. He was so tired. And photo shoots and school drama were not helping things.
.
For the record, he was not at all expecting to see Hot-And-Sexy in a bookstore of all places.
He was so engrossed in looking through the latest Boku no Hero Academia manga (can’t wait until Season 5 comes out) that when someone touched his shoulder, he was not proud to admit he squeaked a bit.
He turned around and his eyes widened his surprise.
“Hot-And-Sexy!”
It was indeed the Adonis Adrien had a huge crush on. Today he was wearing a white t-shirt paired with a blue denim jacket and black ripped jeans. Wow. He really can make anything look hot.
No. Bad Adrien. Don’t let him know you actually have a crush on him.
And oh fuck. Hot-And-Sexy was staring at the blonde and Adrien tried not to let himself get flustered. He has a very intense stare. For all he knew, Hot-And-Sexy stares at everyone like that.
Calm the fuck down, heart. You too brain.
He raised a handsome eyebrow in amusement. “Excuse me?”
Adrien felt himself burn with embarrassment, his face turning bright scarlet. No wonder he was fit for the unlucky miraculous or was this just a side-effect? Note to self, ask Mari about this later.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t get your name last time. And I just started calling you that in my head. Cause you’re really hot and you have pretty eyes.”
Fuck mouth! Why won’t you stop talking! Please for the love of everything that makes Mari a BAMF stop. Stop digging further into the hole of embarrassment! Abort mission! Abort!
“When did we meet?”
At that, he blink a few times. Oh fuck. He was not Superhero Chat Noir. He was Civilian Adrien Agreste. Mari was definitely murdering his dumbass tonight. Lightning please strike him down right now. Where was an unlucky lightning strike when you need it?
After a few seconds of his horrified silence, Hot-And-Sexy chuckled (he had such a nice laugh). “You are extremely lucky I already figured out your alter ego beforehand, Chaton.”
Before Adrien could even unwrap that statement, he held out a hand and had a dangerously sexy smirk on his face. “My name is Damian Wayne. Would you care to get a cup of coffee with me?”
And Adrien nodded his head, not trusting himself to speak. He can deal with the superhero thing later when he can think straight (hah!) and is not distracted by Damian’s beautiful smile and alluring green eyes and perfect everything.
.
Guess what?
Ya Boi got game.
(At least, he likes to think he does)
After a successful coffee date (was it a date? Please let it be a date), they exchanged numbers (cue internal squealing) and met up a few times afterward to hang out.
Apparently, Dami was here on business to deal with something for Wayne Enterprises.
“Aren’t you 17?”
“Father believes in preparing us when we’re young.”
Dami was amazingly sweet. Arrogant and pretentious with a stick up his ass but sweet. He treats stray animals with such reverence that Adrien’s heart melt every time he sees it.
It was an added bonus when Damian scorned Lila with cruel words and disgusted looks when she tried to cut in Adrien and Dami’s date(?)/meetup(?)/spending-time-together event.
She cried and whined afterwards and Adrien has to endure his father’s lecture. But it was totally worth it.
Oh yeah. Mari was not pleased that he accidentally outed himself to a civilian. But nothing that a couple of sad kitty eyes can’t fix.
“You are so lucky you’re cute, kitty-cat.” Mari grumbled but she was smiling. “I just need to have a good talk with him on the importance of secrecy.”
.
That day Damian Wayne learned to fear a certain Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
.
It was 2 weeks later when Adrien woke up to a package next to his futon in Mari’s room. When he opened it, he saw the Butterfly and Peacock miraculous inside.
There was a card beneath it. And in beautiful cursive script read:
I dearly hope you enjoy my courting gift, mon amour. Allow me the honor to formally ask you out on a date. I look forward to hearing favorably from you soon.
- Damian Wayne
He couldn’t believe it.
“Mari! Damian likes me back!”
“Chaton, I swear. It is 2 in the morning.”

ok now time for theorizing GOD i have missed this shit
disclaimer: this is just for funsies and i'm not like, hanging all my hopes and dreams on any of this shit pls do not take any of it seriously. theorizing abt the things i love is just how i scrape together my serotonin in this life and BOY was this a gold mine for it.
first of all, kid names/whose kids they are:
already said this, but im convinced taylor is lil (or big now i guess oh god) nicky's kid, taylor swift.
cliche, but i do think the idea of grant "big gamers only" wilson naming his kid link to remind him of better times is very funny and will imagine so until proven otherwise in 2 weeks.
normal is, ironically, the wild card in my mind. most likely TJ's kid, which i am v stoked abt bc if they are we might FINALLY find out what his last name was
also partially my best guess bc i can defs see lark not wanting kids, for fear of passing on the family curse. like yeah they're likely not active vessels for the doodler anymore, having puked it up in the finale, but im convinced there's defs some sort of residual connection or influence that is has over them, and i can see lark not wanting to risk it.
would also, however, accept grant and one of the other sons (they're still the sons to me whatever idk how else to address them without it getting complicated) are together and one of the kids is both of theirs
as for the fourth kid, this is near-completely based on my own personal ideas and not based in any sort of reality at all, BUT in the immortal words of a certain esteemed story boy and daddy, bear with me:
i really like the idea that lark and sparrow had some sort of falling out after the events of season 1
whether that falling out happened immediately after The Stabbening or later on after the OG daddies' plan failed, i just think a schism between the brothers is a really nice juicy hook/conflict to base this season around
so basically my working theory is this: at some point after the apocalypse kicked off, lark realized what he'd done and vowed to fix what he helped break, and signed on to work for DADDIES to do so
sparrow, on the other hand, saw how broken the world was, and ended up following more in his grandfather's footsteps (paying off the fact that he was showing some slightly barry-ish tendencies towards the end there that could, unchecked, very feasibly dip into the realm of toxic positivity) and decided the best thing to do would be to use whatever power he had to fix it
by "fixing it" i mean using his connection with the doodler to befriend it, and help shape the new world into a peaceful and harmonious utopia
aka, sparrow becomes the founder and leader of the Acolytes and is actively working with/for the doodler
so basically my working theory on the fourth child is, what if it's sparrow's kid, sent to infiltrate DADDIES and sabotage their efforts to overthrow the doodler from the inside
and that's why lark didn't mention them, bc he doesn't know his own niece/nephew/nibling even EXISTS bc he hasn't spoken to his brother in years
and then there's the whole code purple thing which is defs daddy magic adjacent and im guessing means "consult the o-dads" or take off barry's bracelets or something, which, if that's the case, i'm VERY interested to know how that went last time lmao.
and also there's the whole obsidian door thing which i got nothing at all on but like, i literally just got home from work, gimme a few days and im sure i'll be grasping at straws abt it somehow lmao
anyways, tl;dr i am SO FUCKING STOKED to have something to make my dumb theories about again and even though i'm defs wrong abt all of this, i'm just really excited to hear whatever the actual plot ends up being

Rhett and Link’s problems with the Enneagram
I have now watched both Enneagram EBs and the second one actually set my gears to work (So Anon here it comes! I promise it was spontaneous).
After listening to Link and mostly Rhett talk about the Enneagram again and again, I realised I have a problem but I can not place its exact root. There is either something fundamentally wrong with the Enneagram itself or maybe it’s Rhett and consequently Link who talk about it in a way that made me feel a little uncomfortable.
My problem and cause of concern was that everything that was said during the two podcasts had a clear negative tone to it. I will have to bring in myself to it to give you an example so bear with me for a paragraph. I did the test and I am a 5 (Investigator - Observer, something like that) which suits me rather well, especially since it agrees perfectly with my Myers-Briggs INTP type. The results said I was a 5w6 (essentially an emotionless analytical robot) which is definitely wrong as I am clearly a 5w4 (a sad mess who analyses the world and searches pointlessly for the true meanings in life and wants to come up with the ultimate all-encompassing philosophy). I mean, OK, they are not described exactly like that but trust me, that’s the point. But despite all the flaws associated with it, especially in the fields of socialising and tremendous procrastination due to an insane fear of failure, I am actually very much in touch with it. I revel in analysing, in trying to see the bigger picture, to make up my own theory about life and the world. It gives me fuel to go on, it fills me with excitement, it gives me a purpose.
Now, what I kept hearing from Rhett and Link are the things they would hope to run away from. I can’t seem to remember a single positive thing they said about their personalities. All traits they mentioned ( which were all pretty one-dimensional for both I dare say) were presented in the context of torturing them and having to confront them. With these insights in their personalities and the spiritual deconstructions earlier, their old (surprising back then) statement that they are “fundamentally sad people” makes more and more sense. Some of their traits, like Link’s care for perfection to the smallest detail and his moral concerns could have been neutral or positive but, no, they are almost all given as clear negatives or at least as things that have an emotional toll on them.
This gives me the impression that Link and especially Rhett have found comfort in studying the Enneagram and try to find an explanation for what they are like, to feel part of a group, represented in their misery. In short, they focus on the analysis of the flaws of their personalities as a part of who they are and avoid dealing with the root that caused said flaws. Link is more self aware while Rhett still struggles to reach the root of it, which is his childhood. Not that he doesn’t know it but he can’t just deal with the people and the situations that impacted him enough to make him a three. For instance, Rhett seems to believe that he is a natural three that his parents made manifest even more strongly. It could be the case or the threeness we observe in him is the direct product of his parents’ constant judgement. By keeping chanting he needs to “be” instead of “do”, I am not sure Rhett will achieve much. Honestly, the one impactful step he needs to take is to stop caring about what his father thinks and I am sorry to say he is still not near achieving this. Especially when I take into account how scared he was during his videocall with his dad in GMM and how relieved he looked after the call was over without drama. In short, my problem with their take in the Enneagram is that it seems that Three is Rhett’s pack of unresolved issues rather than his complete personality type.
Furthermore, Rhett speaks knowingly about all numbers / personality types which proves he consumes passionately all Enneagram information that is available. For a man of his level of active lifestyle, hectic schedule and impatience, this shows that he indeed seeks comfort in finding a detailed description and an explanation for his personality, for the way he feels and acts. What does this mean? Well, that he does not like the way he feels about himself a lot. Not only that, but he is actually in a search of self. At this point, he is no longer cryptic about it but it is more serious than he lets on. He tries to make sense of himself and he tries desperately to find something in himself to love. I hope there are people in his life who let him know that he is worthy of their love, friendship and appreciation even though he is so deep inside his head that even the affectionate feedback can only help so much. Rhett will start finding some peace only if he takes the one step I mentioned above.
And then it seems that Link’s personality type is also exclusively a byproduct of his childhood and is aggravated by his relationship with Rhett. Link’s perfectionism doesn’t cause him enthusiasm - he just dreads the disturbance of his supposedly perfectly stable world. In all honesty, Link doesn’t strike me as an ambitious person. Link would just love to have his dear routine and a loyal person to share it with. Link needs stability and companionship. He is fine with just one person as long as this person contributes to the stability of their bond. Who that one person is in Link’s life is another story…
Link doesn’t care that much about the creative process and, frankly, he doesn’t care all that much about the comedy. Link cares to keep the environment Rhett and he work stable and safe. For Link, judgement from the audience is not as alarming as Rhett’s frustration because of it. Link cares to ensure that Rhett’s idea will be successful enough to keep working and to keep working together. So Link’s entire self-identification as a one seems to stem from his fear of abandonment and worthlessness only. Link fears he has not much to contribute to Mythical and he tries to counteract that by becoming the ultimate source of management and control. Because if he didn’t even manage the company, then what would Rhett need him for? Hence, Link’s obsession for control is a consequence of his fear, he doesn’t necessarily love to be in control for the sake of it. This is proven by his plane example, which shows that he finally relaxes when he does NOT need to be in control.
Link has been working hard most of his life to ensure his position next to Rhett. This brings even more insight in his resentment for Rhett that explodes from time to time. Link resents Rhett because he tries so hard to be always by his side but due to Rhett’s opportunitism, he can’t tell whether Rhett wants his companionship or he simply needs it for their brand. Even worse, Link dreads that the reason Rhett is his friend is because Link feeds his ego with his loyalty and admiration, because he takes Link for granted and not because he loves Link for who he is.
“Do you care for me or do you revel in the fact that I care for you?”
Now, I can’t get inside Rhett’s head but I doubt he uses people. I believe his genuine care for Link can be found in the weirdest examples - those from which Rhett has nothing to gain i.e getting frustrated when Link doesn’t enjoy food as much. Yes, this is a sign of love. Rhett enjoys food so much that he wants to share that enjoyment with Link. He can’t realise Link’s tongue works differently - he thinks Link is missing out and it frustrates him. Another silly example is Rhett buying Apocalypse equipment for a clearly disinterested Link and probably never getting its money’s worth back. This is important to Rhett for some reason and he is concerned enough to protect careless Link as well despite having no personal gain from it.
The truth is that these two men feed off each other; Rhett keeps Link attached to him to always feel worthy and Link keeps Rhett attached to him to always feel safe. However, the fact that Rhett is almost his entire source of safety and that Link is Rhett’s biggest calibrator of worth is indicative of the levels of love and need. Nevertheless, Rhett and Link are not independent people. They were constantly in search of support from one another and they lost themselves in the process of satisfying others or being safe. This is something they are realising only now.
Link’s fear of abandonment is so big that it frequently leads him to an almost paranoid behaviour. It is crazy that he felt left out when Rhett communicated with the audience during a podcast whose key purpose is to… communicate with the audience. His fear here has two sides: 1) that Rhett didn’t consider him an equally important business partner so he preferred to speak directly to the audience and 2) that Rhett isn’t emotionally invested in him in order to open up to him. And by saying he can deceive people if he needs, Rhett doesn’t help Link overcome his huge insecurities. This is why Link begs Rhett to talk to him about his feelings more. He does not understand whether Rhett loves him or uses him. The notion that Rhett doesn’t truly love or appreciate him is one of his biggest fears in life.
As for Rhett, it is certainly huge growth that he starts opening up and being vulnerable to a few thousand strangers yet it all still derives from his need to be accepted by said strangers as I am afraid that the late disproportionate criticism he gets for silly stuff on Twitter and Tumblr surely don’t help him deal with his issues, no matter how hard he tries. Therefore, Rhett is trapped in a vicious circle. Besides, Rhett was overly sensitive to be hurt when Link stated the obvious; that he was being vulnerable in hopes to be understood and accepted, because that was clearly what Rhett was openly doing. However, having someone discussing openly his vulnerability immediately made Rhett retreat back to his shell because no matter how hard he tries, Rhett hasn’t managed to separate vulnerability from weakness in his mind yet.
Long story short, Rhett and Link might be Three and One respectively but I am not sure they have a good understanding of themselves anyway. They may have figured out their types correctly but they certainly narrow their entire sense of being to their unresolved issues and phobias. They entirely lack a sense of self-worth and they probably have not realised the extent of the traumas in their youth. In the Enneagram language, the nine personality types have nine levels of development. I believe Rhett and Link are either in the average levels or the mildest unhealthy level. They are certainly not in the healthy top three levels.
Their obsession with the Ennegram helps only superficially but they seem to have based an illogically huge part of their self exploration on it. The Enneagram might offer some insight but won’t offer the resolutions they long for and badly need in order to find some relief. The ones that come when you confront your environment instead of overanalysing yourself and beating yourself up because of it.

I was talking to my friend the other day and we have an interesting theory and I would like your opinion on it. We were discussing Brad Pitt and how he “over corrects” which leads to further unhappiness and more rash decisions. I think Calvin is this way as well.
For instance, Brad went from totally high maintenance Gwyneth Paltrow to extremely laid back Jennifer Aniston, got bored and then went to Angelina Jolie who was fresh off of her marriage to Billy Bob and wearing vials of blood around her neck and open about her sexual relationships (this is not a drag, I promise, just that she was totally opposite Jennifer and uptight socialite Gwyneth). It seems as if Calvin fits into the same pattern.
Calvin went from non famous Sophie and Sophia to VS models and Rita who was not just famous, but kind of an exhibitionist with what she told to the press. I remember Rita giving an interview about being in a relationship (idk if she mentioned names, but it was implied to be about Calvin) where she talked about her partner just shut off like a light switch and went from very hot to cold all of the sudden. I just thought Calvin didn’t like the tabloid attention on their relationship. I suspected I was right when he started dating Aarika who was laid back, private and not famous. I remember seeing them relaxing on the beach and then BAM! Out of nowhere he dropped Aarika for the most famous pop star and paparazzi hunted star in the world. It was obvious he didn’t like that he got even more attention, and so much of it negative, than him and Rita. So then he eventually went back to Aarika for what I thought would be a quiet life, only to change his mind AGAIN. Now he is yet again with someone who it seems (although we could be wrong) is the total opposite of Aarika. It feels like Calvin makes a decision, decides he’s bored or unhappy, makes the OPPOSITE decision, then switches back like a pendulum.
His career decision as of late feels this way as well. He went from being THE most famous DJ, to pulling back and living a nice quiet life farming. He wasn’t retired, he still had major collabs and the success of FWB1, but he had pulled back from celebrity and I thought he would go forward and be successful of course, but not as the same fame level as 2013-2015. Now he is in hyper work mode. Which is not a bad thing and no way am I dragging him. But it’s very much a 180 turn.
I know men like this in real life. They aren’t happy, so they do the exact opposite and it annoys me and I feel it’s extremely immature. It’s what teenagers and men having a mid life crisis do. And it’s always the women in their life who has stood beside them that gets hurt and tossed aside. Anyway I’m sorry this was a very long ask lol. I just wanted your opinion. I’m looking forward to FWB2. I’m just not going to be invested in Calvin’s personal life anymore.
My goodness, the last time I sent an Anon message, which was years ago, there was a word limit! I feel like I should say "use your own blog" but I completely understand if you're a Tumblr User whose blog exists only to allow you to send Anon messages & have private chats. That's what I intended to do when I signed in. HA! Now. I'm going to encourage you to use it because you've given reasoned examples to support your POV & I truly respect that. We could re-blog each other!
Also, I fucking agree w/ you! The last few years, I believed Calvin had matured into having a balanced life w/ a solid commitment. I always knew he was a neurotic mess but hoped he had it under control. Dumping Aarika—AGAIN— blew away that false impression. My immediate explanation was: he's having a mid-life crisis.
But, I think you've proven HE'S ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY! He's a fucking fickle egocentric hot/cold guy who can't make up his mind about what he wants! And frankly, I can't stand watching him fuck up his life again!
OTOH, there's this:
And OMG! I can't wait to hear & see this!
It sounds like something I'm gonna love! Ya'know, genius is inherently flawed. We can still love his music while not liking the hopelessly immature person he currently seems to be. Throwing out the baby w/ the bathwater is especially stupid when that spoiled rotten baby creates glorious music!

my virtues uncounted (4)
winner of august’s second monthly fic poll! hope you enjoy!
warnings: antagonist/villain remus, panic, injury, blood, cliffhanger
previous chapters
-
In the time it took for everyone else to get worked into a panic, Logan had come up with a few theories on why, exactly, their connection with Thomas would be so suddenly muted.
Of course, many of those theories were only useful if they could be proven, and seeing as they  had a limited amount of time and space to work with, he could set them aside to figure out the direct, exact cause another time.
For now, the priority was finding their way back home. Once they were able to reconnect with their part of the mindscape, their connection with Thomas would also hopefully repair itself.
“Think of our current status as dealing with some temporary interference,” he told the others. “Once we leave the subconscious, our metaphorical signals should reach Thomas again.”
“‘Should?’” Anxiety asked, looking dubious.
“And how are we to leave when this shadowy scourge is thwarting our every escape attempt?” Roman added, glaring balefully up at Anxiety.
“Hey, you technically haven’t made any escapes yet, so I technically haven’t thwarted anything yet.” Anxiety ignored Roman’s exasperated expression with ease, shrugging. “Schrodinger’s Thwarting.”
“Anxiety, kiddo,” Patton stepped a little closer, pulling them all back on track, “I don’t think we should stay down here for too much longer. It’s not good for us to be disconnected from our rooms like this.”
“And that’s not even mentioning the fact that we don’t know how Thomas is functioning without his core sides connected to him,” Logan added, hoping that the other Side was in a reasonable mood.
Anxiety kept his face neutral, but Logan could see the little crease between his eyebrows and the way he went slightly paler. “It’s still too dangerous to risk without a plan.”
“And with a plan?” Logan pressed.
Anxiety’s shoulders bunched up even further, and for a moment he was worried he’d gone too far, but then the other Side let out an irritated sigh.
“If it’s actually that concerning, and I can more than imagine how it could be, then. I guess. We could try. With a plan,” he emphasized as Patton perked up excitedly. “One that I agree to.”
“That’ll only take us a lifetime,” Roman grumbled, but even he seemed revitalized now that they were getting somewhere.
Logan found himself getting excited as well. “In that case, I need all the information you have on routes to neutral territory and the weather cycles here.”
Anxiety materialized the data into files on a touchscreen phone, which would work quite efficiently as a display considering their size. “Good luck figuring anything out. This end of the mindscape is way more… chaotic. Stuff’s always changing.”
“I don’t mind a challenge,” Logan reassured him, and then set to work making spreadsheets and comparing trends. It was almost soothing.
In the background, he could hear Patton asking about who they were most likely to encounter if they attempted to beeline for the neutral zone, and Roman bartering for possession of his sword back. (The trade seemed to be settling on Anxiety handing over the sword in exchange for no stabbing and no nicknames for a week. Roman was perhaps more reluctant to stop generating witty quips than necessary.)
As Logan suspected, when Anxiety didn’t feel implicitly threatened by them, he was much more open. Though, that might have also been the exposure to Patton’s determined friendliness, which Anxiety seemed to eye with the wariness of a stray cat. He’d have to bring this up the next time they had a debate about the effectiveness of so many of Thomas’s Sides being hidden away.
Now wasn't the time for that, however. Now was the time for action, as Roman liked to proclaim.
“I’ve found the best path for us to take,” he announced, drawing all eyes to him.
Probably no time for an illustrative powerpoint to demonstrate how he’d come to this conclusion. Perhaps later. A summary of the plan would do fine.
Roman and Patton glanced up at the large side frequently, but Anxiety listened with a critical attentiveness that Logan found himself appreciating. At the end, his brow was furrowed, but he didn’t seem fully decided one way or the other.
“This plan will only work in our current time frame,” Logan cautioned. “As you said, the landscape of this place is always shifting, so we need to take advantage of the patterns that we can. I expect getting lost would not end well.”
Anxiety nodded, and then seemed to come to a decision.
“If you’re certain that it’s the best time… Fine, I’ll believe you.” Anxiety grumped, his body language already displaying several signs that he was growing nervous at the idea.
Logan blinked once, genuinely surprised that he had convinced the other Side, before regaining his composure. No time to be touched by Anxiety’s apparent faith in him. “All the data I reviewed points to this being the best opportunity.”
“One condition,” Anxiety said, holding up a finger. “If it seems like the plan has failed and things get dangerous, our backup plan is giving me access so I can rise up.”
Roman raised a sharp eyebrow, his sword once again sheathed at his side. “I seem to distinctly recall you freaking out about that idea?”
Anxiety made a face at him. “Yeah, and I’ll continue to not like it, but if it keeps you losers from getting discorporated, I’ll deal. Do you guys agree or not?”
Logan traded looks with the other two, and then nodded. “It’s a reasonable backup plan.”
“Sure,” Anxiety snorted, and then hesitated for a moment before reaching out and placing his uninjured hand palm up on the table next to them.
Patton plopped himself down immediately, but Roman wasn’t as eager.
“I am not going back in your pocket,” Roman told him, unimpressed. “Lint on my outfit is a no-no, let alone giant lint.”
“Your outfit is already ruined,” Anxiety snapped back, rolling his eyes. The blood on the white outfit somewhat resembled a candy cane.
Logan raised a hand to interject before it could become an argument. “If I may suggest, your hood seems like it would both give us more space and allow for a vantage point to watch your back.”
“I can watch my own back,” Anxiety growled, and then sighed. “Just don’t fall out.”
He was exceedingly careful as he reached behind him to the hood of his jacket, and the three of them had no problem getting in, though they did end up knocking a few limbs against each other in the process.
As Logan expected, it was much easier to grip the folds of the hoodie fabric and looking over the edge of it gave them a vertigo-inducing view.
“Okay,” Anxiety said, sounding as though he was speaking more to himself than them. “Let’s do this. It’s probably going to crash and burn horribly, but whatever.”
“Remind me to speak with you about cognitive distortions later,” Logan mused.
From where he was peeking over Virgil’s shoulder, Patton cheered. “Woohoo, you can do it!”
“With our talents to help, we can’t fail,” Roman added, making some sort of dramatic flourish that Anxiety couldn't even see. “Onwards!”
“What am I, a horse?” Anxiety shot back, and then firmed his shoulders slightly and stepped to his door. “Remember, low in the hoodie so you aren’t seen.”
After receiving a chorus of agreements, he took an audible breath and stepped through the door.
The hoodie bounced slightly against his back with every step, but nothing too jarring. Logan resisted the completely illogical urge to hold his breath as they descended the creaking stairs.
After a long moment, Anxiety’s shoulders lowered slightly. “Nobody’s down here.”
He picked his way carefully through the living area, until they were back where they started, at that huge, weathered front door. It seemed much less insurmountable from Anxiety’s eye level. The other Side grabbed the knob and pushed it open, stepping over the threshold.
They all let out a breath of relief.
From there, Logan’s attention was consumed with providing directions in a low mutter, carefully navigating their way through the shifting, fog-covered landscape. Patton occasionally pointed out a distant landmark he maybe recognized, mostly unhelpfully.
Still, all factors considered, they made it a fair distance before things went wrong.
Anxiety had just taken the first step over a wooden bridge when the hair-raising cackle split the air behind them. At Logan’s side, Roman latched onto his wrist with an iron grip.
Anxiety held still for a moment longer before turning around, his hands tucked into his pockets in a faux gesture of casualness. “Remus. I thought silently stalking people in the dead of night was too subtle for you?”
There was an unpleasant crack of bone that made Logan glad he couldn’t see Remus. “Wouldn’t want to scare the little emo and his little uninvited stowaways off, would I?”
The three of them exchanged panicked looks. He knew?
Anxiety took a step back, hissing in frustration. “Are you the reason they’re like this? Or Dee?”
Another cackle. “The enchantment was all me! Double D would ruin my fun if he knew. But you’re no spoilsport! I can already feel all the exciting new additions to this game you’re thinking up in that squishy grey matter of yours. We can have a little fun together! Whaddya say?”
Anxiety took another step back, his back twitching with the urge to turn and flee. “Remus. C’mon. Think about Thomas.”
The atmosphere suddenly darkened, sending a chill down Logan’s spine.
“Maybe he’s the one who should be thinking about us,” Remus said, the grin in his voice suddenly much more menacing. “I know you’re tired of being ignored, Anxiety. You’re just as sick of our snakey friend’s interference as I am. Without them, there will be space for us!”
“Thomas needs them,” Anxiety urged, his rough voice a sharp contrast to Remus’s singsong encouragement.
“Puh-lease, we’re not taking them away forever! The Core Bores are like cockroaches; you just can’t get rid of ‘em, even when you crush their little heads.” A thoughtful pause. “They’re just about cockroach-sized now, too!”
Roman’s grip grew painfully tight.
Anxiety shook his head, jostling them slightly, and then began to slowly back across the bridge. The tension in him seemed to scream that he wanted to turn tail and flee, give into his flight instinct. But he couldn’t turn without putting them directly in Remus’s line of sight.
“Don’t be so antsy! I know you want to be noticed as bad as I do,” Remus advanced with slow, predatory steps.
Anxiety was too far from the other end of the bridge. He’d be caught.
Logan made pointed eye contact with the others, and held his free hand out, palm down.
“What I want doesn’t matter here. It’s too risky! It’s. Not. Happening.” They were stepping faster now, the noise overlapping.
Patton nodded once, placing his own hand on top. They both looked to Roman.
“Aw, that’s what I never got about you, emo. You’re always too scared to jump in and grab the bull by the horns! A little goring can be its own kind of fun, y’know.”
Roman’s expression finally turned certain, and he slammed his own hand down, completing the stack.
All of them felt it when the balance shifted, and there was a heartbeat of stillness before everything erupted.
Anxiety turned on his heel and bolted, seconds before a manic, ear-splitting scream split the air from behind them.
“YOU’RE LEAVING US!”
“Rise up!” Roman screeched, clinging to the hood’s fabric for dear life. “Rise up!”
“I don’t know how!” Anxiety yelled back, ducking and weaving through the fog-filled forest that had formed around them. “I’m trying to— it’s not the same as just appearing!”
“You have to stay in one spot and focus,” Patton said, trying hard to keep his voice calm. “You can do this!”
Anxiety came to a standstill, and for a few breathless seconds, they waited.
“It’s… it’s not working!”
“Try and focus on where you want to appear. Let yourself rise, don’t try to control it—“ Logan caught a flicker of movement behind them. “Watch out!”
Anxiety twisted out of the way, a double headed axe thunking into the trunk of a nearby tree. He clenched his fists, closing his eyes tightly, and Logan finally felt the familiar sensation of their part of the mindscape dropping into place around them.
He caught one last glimpse of Remus, body twisted into a throwing gesture and gaze almost shocked, before the scene changed to their living room.
Anxiety staggered, face pale, and the lot of them ended up sprawled over the length of the staircase, ungraceful but undoubtedly home and the right size once more.
A moment spent catching their breath, and then.
“We made it!” Patton yelled, voice cracking in relief as he threw his arms out, laid out on his back.
From the carpeted landing he was still facedown on, Roman grunted an exhausted affirmation.
“It was a close call,” Logan said, pushing himself up and dusting his tie off. “We’ll need to take precautions for the future.”
“Good thing we have Anxiety!” Patton said brightly. “He’s an expert at precautionary measures!”
“As long as he doesn’t precaution Thomas into never going outside again,” Roman muttered, with no real aggression to his tone. He seemed just as glad that Anxiety had gotten them all out of there, if not more.
Anxiety didn’t rise to the bait. Logan turned to thank the other Side properly, and was met with the sight of him curled in over himself, a hunched over ball of hoodie. “... Anxiety?”
With a hoarse cry of pain, the Side yanked something from his side. A comically oversized throwing knife, drenched in a slick coating—
“Oh,” Anxiety said in a small voice, struggling to stem the bloodflow from the stab wound in his torso. “Shit.”
Within seconds, a dark stain began to spread, and Logan immediately lurched forwards, trying to seal the wound, erase it, even just put enough pressure on it to clot the bleeding—
Anxiety inhaled sharply. Nothing about the nature of the wound changed. It wasn’t healing. Logan’s hands were covered in warm-wet-red and nothing was healing.
Past the ringing in his ears, he could hear the others yelling behind him, trying to accelerate Anxiety’s integration into the conscious mind.
All he could focus on was Anxiety’s face, tight with pain and resignation.
“It’s fine,” he muttered, the hitch in his voice betraying him. “We can’t die. It’s fine. Can you— Can you feel Thomas?”
Logan nodded stitedly. The connection was faint, but growing stronger.
Anxiety nodded once, sharply. “Good. That’s— That’s all that matters.”
Then, like the question had been all that was keeping him awake, he went limp like a puppet with strings cut.

I hope you don’t mind me sending this as I love yoir blog and the way you approach things and I had a downer today. As someone who has similar views as many of you on here when it comes to KM e.g not believing everything and being rational but also having life exp which strongly suggests KM are something special etc, I recently saw an adorable video from 2017 MMA which I hadn’t seen before where 2 things were pointed out aka JK singing about a first kiss to JM and Jin smiling and then JK smiling at JM across the room at words in the background that said “do you want to start our love again”. It has all been debunked as it was all about JK’s crush on the idol IU. She was the one singing and both moments were related to her as JK idolised her and the boys were teasing him a lot through the whole MMA 17 and JK was enamoured all evening. I instantly felt foolish because now I think “am I just being stupid” when it comes to jikook? I see a lot of love and affection there but I just felt like maybe were seeing what we want to see rather than accepting there’s nothing romantic there? And if they’re extra close and they’re “brothers” as people keep banging on about then I’m always happy for them as they both deserve tons of happiness but I just feel like one day we will get a rude awakening and all of the things we’ve held dear will be proven to be fantasy. I am rational to know the difference between shipping and supporting but part of me struggles with the latter as I learn about some moments that aren’t actually as we see them, they’re proven to be something different. Sorry for being a downer but your blog provides a lot of comfort so I sought you and a few other precious bloggers out ❤️
Hey anon.  I’m happy you reached out, because it helps to talk to others when you feel insecure, no matter what the issue may be - Jikook related or anything else that causes you stress.
I will start by saying this:
I am a whole hearted Jikook supporter.  I believe that JK and JM are very close, I believe they have a special connection, I believe they are romantically involved.
These are my personal beliefs, that are based on my initial gut feeling and a hell of a lot of original content viewing.  This is my opinion.
I am fully aware that there are many that think otherwise, and I am fully open to hear what they have to say and assess it objectively.  But I don’t have any patience for stupidity (sorry for being so blunt).  When nay sayers come up with unsubstantiated shit, it ticks me off.
So, my advice to you is:
don’t let yourself be swayed so easily by others.  Be strong in your belief.  Yes, check yourself from time to time, it’s healthy.  But don’t let others sway you so easily.
“I recently saw an adorable video from 2017 MMA which I hadn’t seen before where 2 things were pointed out aka JK singing about a first kiss to JM and Jin smiling and then JK smiling at JM across the room at words in the background that said “do you want to start our love again”. It has all been debunked as it was all about JK’s crush on the idol IU. She was the one singing and both moments were related to her as JK idolised her and the boys were teasing him a lot through the whole MMA 17 and JK was enamoured all evening. I instantly felt foolish because now I think “am I just being stupid” when it comes to jikook?”
Tumblr media
I think this is the moment you are referring to.
This whole story about JK’s crush, him ‘idolising’ her, being teased ‘all night’ etc.  where did that come from?  Did one of the members tell this story?  If yes, where?
When you say “it has all been debunked”, that’s when I have an issue.  Because, who ‘debunked’ it?  Did the boys come out and explain the moment?
Hell no.  You are actually relying on other fans that came up with this theory and have named it as factual, and let me guess, they are not Jikook supporters.
Go with your initial gut feeling.  Look at the interaction between the two at that moment.  Look at Jin’s reaction (smile, then wipes it off).  JK is singing to JM.  He is looking him in the eye.  Jin looking at the interaction between the two and mouth curling up, but then remembers cameras around and goes back to neutral face.  If this was about IU and not Jikook, why hide your smile?  If this is about IU why sing to JM, why say those lines and look JM in the eye?
“as I learn about some moments that aren’t actually as we see them, they’re proven to be something different.”
How and when where those moments “proven to be something different”?  that’s my question to you.  To be proven doesn’t mean based on hearsay.
Every conclusion I come to is based on what I see with my eyes and what I hear with my ears.  That is why, for example, I don’t trust the lip reading at MMA 2018.  They might be true, but I can’t read lips or understand Korean, so no, I can’t base anything on that.
I also don’t do Tweeter, don’t believe gossip or theories that god knows where they started. I suggest you do the same.  Believe your gut feeling.  Watch original content, lots of it, the less it’s edited the better.
I know sometimes we can let ourselves be swayed by our insecurity.  When this happens, when something undermines your belief, go back to the drawing board, and go over those moments that did make you believe.
Re-watch, rethink, and you will see how this will restore your belief, because there is soooo much out there with those two.  It’s not about one moment.  Not about one award show.  It’s about a plethora of content that leads to that conclusion.  Just go back to GCFT, GCFS, RB, MMA 2018.  Listen to what JM and JK have to say themselves.
As I said, I believe in the connection between JK and JM, with all it entails.  But if one day I will be proven wrong, so what?  I love those two, they are gorgeous human beings, and all I wish for them is happiness, be it with each other or be it with someone else.
I am also aware that there is a very big chance that we will never really fully know the true nature of their relationship, them being part of such a traditional society, one that doesn’t look kindly on the LGBTQ+ community.
So, if one day we are proven wrong, then yes, it may make me question my detective abilities (that btw have been proven right over the years), but that’s it.  I won’t be disappointed, because all I wish is for them to be happy.  I support Jikook because I support JM and JK, and believing they are together, I support their connection, their love, and I think that most Jikook supporters, including yourself, feel the same.  xx

disbanded (1)
pairing - spencer reid x reader
summary - after emily’s death, the still grieving bau team disbands in hopes of the time off doing some emotional healing. however, for you and spencer, strauss recruits you for your own individual team almost immediately. months later, after new case details are discovered, you and spencer are forced to call in your old team for assistance
warnings - case details, angst
series masterlist
Tumblr media
seven months.
seven months had gone by and the team had barely heard anything from you or spencer.
there were occasional texts, letters, and phone calls. the messages were always brief, never lasting more than a few sentences or minutes.
j.j. returned to the bau around three months in. she was changed, everyone noticed that. the blonde agent put on a facade, masking any signs of trauma or difference.
the only crack in her foundation was when she saw the practically empty desk. it came as a suprise to see desks normal covered in pictures and other items now almost cleared. the only reminder of your presence was both of your name plates remaining.
everyone felt a toll with what was going on. they were missing three out of eight team members. sure, they weren’t working active cases, but just having everyone around made a difference.
hotch was the leader. the alpha-male. he kept everyone in line while providing the support and care any member of his team needed at all times. though his leadership in the middle east was more then successful, they missed having the role model to look up to.
spencer was the kid. the boy genius. his intelligence was more than impressive, though he often used it as a shields. his facts, while sometimes unneeded, provided the final piece of a profile to catch the unsub. the team never knew they could miss his rambling more.
you were the glue. the one that kept the team together. though your presence was still fairly new in comparison to others, your witty remarks and overal care for everyone acted as a backbone. your relationship with spencer was almost model worthy, something everyone wanted to look up. you changed spencer in the best way possible.
they knew where hotch had gone. but for you and spencer, no one had any clue. when j.j hunted down and questioned anderson, the man had very obviously lied about not knowing before leaving to go back to work.
eventually they stopped asking.
four months later, hotch returned. his return back was less then minimal, being greeted with smiles, hugs, and even the stray comment about the beard. the reunion was short lived as hotch had requested them all to meet in the conference room.
curious and concerned gazes were thrown back and forth. no one voiced their confusion, choosing to obey the orders of their leader and take seats for the first time in seven months around the round table.
“we’ve been called in,” the unit chief started.
✦✧✦✧
across the country, you threw your head back in annoyance with the case. spencer leaned against the table, one arm crossed across his body while the other ran over his lip.
the recent case was becoming increasingly difficult. a series of robbery homicides involving a team of seven different members was terrorizing the city of los angeles.
you had successfully identified four members though the other three were a mystery. there were many facts pointing to the possibility of involvement in organized crime. one wrong move in your investigation and a lot more could go wrong.
three days and no solid leads.
usually you and spencer were wrapping up other cases by now. instead, you were sitting in one of the rooms at the los angeles police department reviewing the profile over and over. spencer, on the other hand, was going though every report you had on the unsubs, desperate to find something that could like them all together to give you a clue.
what didn’t help was the heat. the summer heat was hitting the city hard, you and spencer shedding your suit jackets as a result.
“have you checked prison records?” you asked, looking at the board in front of you.
“yes, absolutely no connections there.”
you huffed. you weren’t getting anywhere despite having a near perfect profile and organized board showing a whole crime family tree.
“we need to call in some extra help,” you finally admitted.
“y/n,” spencer started. “i don’t think we really need them. i mean we work perfectly fine on our own. we’re pretty much the new rossi and gideon.”
“look, i don’t really want to see them either. but if we don’t figure out something soon, more people are going to die. a fresh set of eyes could do us good,” you replied.
spencer fiddled with collar of his shirt, a nervous habit he had picked up a few months ago. it was a telltale of his growing concern or anxiety over a situation.
you sat down beside the genius, resting your hand on top of his. “hey, it’s one case. after this we’re back solving cases on our own. does that sound okay?”
“i’ll go make the call.”
✦✧✦✧
“why do they need us? we don’t even have a full team,” morgan was already protesting after the very minimal briefing.
“because y/n and reid requested our help,” hotch answewd.
j.j. most notability flinched at the mention of your names. “what do you mean they need out help? i haven’t really heard from them in months,” j.j. pipped in.
hotch sighed. “back when we split up, strauss inquired y/n and reid to continue doing our job, traveling and all. i was only aware of it because technically i’m still their boss. it’s a lot more intense then when we were traveling, hence their absence. but their success is incredibly high. i don’t have the exact number but it’s around sixty-three cases solved in seven months. of that, five or less have ended in having to shoot the unsub.”
rossi let our a low whistle at that. “have either of them been hurt at all?”
“a few minor injuries but none involving hospitalization
the unit chief looked around at his team, all displaying very conflicted emotions.
“we’ll leave here at five tomorrow morning. be prepared for a long case.”
the team arrived the following morning, heading up to the second floor of the police department at promptly nine am. everyone was slightly jet lagged, time zones the direct cause of that.
just seconds after they had arrived, who they presumed was the police chief headed over on their direction, already extending a hand to shake.
“i’m detective henderson. the other two agents on the case apologize for the absence and should be back soon. one of the family members requested to see him,” the police chief introduced. “but you can all set up in here.”
the team followed the chief through the office and into the usual conference room they were offered. no one failed to take note of the other room occupied, a familiar messanger bag resting on the table.
“and here we are. there’s information posted on the board but i’m sure the agents will explain it when they arrive. please feel free to come to me with any questions.”
hotch was the one to thank the chief. “alright let’s sit down and go over the files. we didn’t have a lot to go off of back at quantico but there’s a ton here.”
it couldn’t have been more than thirty minutes that they waiting, using that time to run through theories about the identified unsubs and ways to find the missing three.
the room seemed to stop, all eyes going towards the elevator.
the team stood up all at once, already suspecting who was about to walk in. their suspicions were proven to be correct as you and spencer stepped out, eyes looking straight ahead.
to put it simply, you two looked and acted different.
seemingly small things for outsiders but things that meant everything for the team had changed.
handshakes replaced hugs. nods replaced smiles. iced coffee replaced hot. even spencer’s revolver he used since the ldsk case was replaced with a glock 19.
since when did spencer drink red bull?
even your style of clothing altered. spencer’s dress pants and sweaters were swapped out for one-piece suits, tie and all. your blouse and dress pants changed into suits, having matching patterned tight pants and blazers, heels to top it off. your outfits both looked ten times more formal.
“agent hotchner,” you greeted, extending your hand.
it was obvious hotch, as well as the rest of the team, was taken back by your words and presence. the last time anyone close to hotch refer to him as ‘agent hotchner’ was when they first met him. he was always very clear about preferring the abbreviated version of his last name.
spencer was the exact same as you, his discomfort with shaking hands seemingly vanished. it pained morgan that he couldn’t reach out and hug the man he considered to be his little brother.
“i apologize for us not being here when you arrived, i know from experience that it’s a long flight. the board in your room has all the information we’ve collected. there’s a timeline, victim list, crime scene photos, and then a family tree. we also have transcripts which can be sent to your tablets. other than that, the case details are in the file folders and you’re good to go,” you explained.
“y/n,” hotch called, stopping both you and spencer from walking away.
“before you ask, i really think we need to focus on this case before discussing transfers. don’t you think so?”

Humans are Space Orcs, “You Survive We Thrive
Things are heating up with Krill’s mini plot line. Sorry I posted a little late today :) Hope you like it
“So, what do you think?”
….
“This is… disturbing, most disturbing.”
“That poor?”
The psychologist, a sturdy little vrul, steel grey in color, with red-tinted orange eyes looked up from where he was examining the projected data rolling in lines of minutely scripted characters through the air to vanish.
He had no issue with his divided attention, continuing to read the scrolling data as he spoke with the official, “That bad, I have never read a psychological evaluation this….  Strange….”
“Psychological degradation.”
The doctor shook his head, “That is what seems strange about it. There WAS no psychological degradation. His intelligence quotient remains high enough that the test cannot accurately represent it in numbers. He not only succeeded in all our tests, but often broke them from the inside going out. He shows extreme scores on logical thinking, and procedural memory, but the strange part is his creative problem solving has skyrocketed enough to break the test. There is no degradation, but his scores and IMPROVING. I even created a matrix for emotional intelligence, not a perfect test, but  think accurate enough, and he scores extremely well on that.”
There was  a pause between the two of them.
“Did you think to test him against the human? See if maybe the changes could be explained by that?”
The psychologist looked on miffed, almost insulted, “Of course I took that into account. That was one of the first things I did.” He switched the projected information, “The human’s scores are….. Well they are erratic at best and downright confusing at worst. Let me explain. You see this here, as far as intelligence goes, he's about as smart as the average beta, which gives him a little over average for humans. I mean you would hope that he is, but there is nothing special. His spatial intelligence is…. Well its excellent, far beyond excellent. And the same can be said about creative problem solving. Emotional intelligence is higher than the doctors both show the same in procedural memory, however a relating to semantic memory the doctor far outstrips the human. Numerical intelligence does not seem to be the human’s strong suit. In fact, I don’t think I have ever seen someone score that low before. I would say the same for episodic memory, accept worse. The human seems to think that he can remember things well, but it seems that he actually cannot.” “What does that have to do with anything.”
“Well you know how I said that the human’s intelligence scores put him at the low end of beta…..”
“Yes.”
“Well in aggregate, putting all his scores together, he would count as an alpha.”
The official stood back in surprise, “How? How can that be possible.”
“I am not entirely sure at this moment, but…. It is quite fascinating… I was thinking about going to talk to the human face to face, see if I can’t figure out this mystery.”
The official nervously shifted in place, “You should be careful, psychologist, you are starting to sound like the doctor did before he went off his rocker.”
“Has he gone off his rocker though?” The psychologist retorted.
“I mean yes, of course he has.”
“The tests say he hasn’t.”
The official harrumphed, “Well, aren't you also saying earlier that he had shown extreme increases on the aggression quotient as well as that for emotional response.”
“yes , but that hasn’t affected his other scores.”
The official sighed but then nodded, “Very well, but be careful, and don’t spend too much time with the human. He has proven to be dangerous, and may have an affect on you.”
“You worry far to much, it took the doctor months to be affected by him, and he had already showed signs of instability before that. I will be fine.”
***
“Dr…..Dr….. try to pay attention please.”
Krill lifted his head in annoyance pulling himself from a contemplation of all the stupid things the humans had probably been doing while he was gone, “I have answered all of your question. I have no idea why you would still be interested.
“We have plenty more questions.”
“No you have the same question but phrased slightly differently every time.” Krill sighed and glowered at the illuminated blue walls.
“Why are you so angry, doctor.”
He turned to look at them, “I am angry because I realize there are things about humans that I prefer over my own species sometimes.”
There was a pause.
“And what might that be?”
“Well, for one humans generally accept an answer after the tenth time I have given it. Not to mention that….. Well…. There are a lot of things.”
“Go on, we are listening.”
Krill sighed his shoulders sagging. He tried to control the human body language, but was finding it difficult, “OUr species has spent decades surviving, but isn’t the measure of a successful species one that can flourish. Our population has been stable for the past thousand years, and it has functioned the same way during that time. We don’t try to get better, we make it to, yeah that's ok and then we quit. Humans don’t just Survive, they TRIBE they are always trying to get better, to improve upon what they have. Where illness is a reason for death because we are no longer useful, they created technology to make life come to them. It has been less than a decade, and humans already live all across the galaxy. Their population has reached an all time eruption, and there is no reason it cannot get bigger. And here we are piddling along on our single planet, in upwards of ten cities doing the same thing we have done for generations.”
“The point of our species is survival.”
“We have proven to be good at that, why not go on from survival and into…… thriving.”
“The Universe is not meant for us. We are not as durable as others. Our planet is all we have.”
Krill shook his head growing more excitedly agitated, “that is where you are wrong, the bigger universe is out there for us. I have proven it. I have visited and stayed on death worlds for weeks at a time. Do you want to know the secret?”
The other Vrul looked a bit surprised, but intrigued. Looking on at Krill like he was insane.
“The secret is sociability. I survived because I had humans to help me. WIth their help I have been able to go anywhere and survive in any place. If we learn from them, we have a chance to live like they do.”
“And how is that?”
“Free.”
***
Commander Vir floated in near darkness a soft blue light illuminating him from all sides. He couldn't have said which was was up or which was was down. The only color he saw was blue, and aside from his own body there was nothing else, so he floated, rotating slowly his hands held out to his sides his legs relaxed and resting easily in the air. If he closed his eyes, he could almost imagine the warm heaviness of a space suit, and his breath against the glass, a thin barrier between him and space.
Images of his first spacewalk ran through his mind with the fiery light of a star rising behind a strange alien world.
There was a sort of soft rumbling that broke him from his thoughts, and he spun in mid-air to find a vrul float into the room. It seemed as if he was upside down though…. Or well he couldn't have said which one of them was upside down considering space didn’t seem to have a right side up or upside down.
He struggled for a few seconds rotating to face the Vrul.
Despite being the captain of a spaceship, he didn’t actually spend much of his time in zero Gs, though that was a fact he would forever be salty about.
“Commander.” The Vrul acknowledged  floating closer as Adam finally righted himself.
“I am afraid you have me at a bit of a disadvantage…. Who are you?”
The Vrul stopped his orange-red eyes glowing strangely in the blue light, “I am the psychologist.”
“Ah, let me guess, you wanted to see what about a human makes your species so vulnerable to change?”
“Precisely, smarter than your tests suggested.”
Adam frowned, “You know that seems to be a thing with you Vrul. Every time I meet a new one of you, I spend most of my time getting insulted, and yet there isn’t really much I can do, since you guys don’t say anything that isn’t true.”
“And the doctor does not?”
“Not anymore.”
“Why is that.”
Adam, in boredom, began rotating backwards feet thrown up into the air, watching the Vrul as he slowly spun in a circle, “Hmm…. I think…. I think the answer is because we socialized him.”
Spinning back around, the commander would have said that the Vrul seemed surprised. Generally those emotions were easier to read on Krill, but he supposed that was part of the reason why he said what he said.
“That is… an interesting theory, human.”
“Not really a theory. A theory implies that it cannot be tested. I would suggest it’s more a hypothesis.”
The vrul looked at him in a contemplative manner, “Go on, I am interested to hear what you have to say on the subject.”
Adam was a little surprised, “Vrul were kind of known for being stuck up pricks who thought they were smarter than everyone else, but he supposed that this might just help krill out of his current predicament.”
“Well you have talked about the doctor changing a lot, and I have this theory that every one of those changes have to do with his adaptability living in a pack.” The Vrul waited for him to continue, so he did, “You say something about how Krill is more emotional now, right? Well, emotions are adaptable to humans. Aggression allows people to keep their place in the hierarchy. We have trouble listening to krill like we should, so he gets mad at us, as a way to show us  he SHOULD be respected. You might have discussed his use of human facial expressions or body language, well, body language is EXTREMELY important to properly communicating with a human, if he didn’t adopt those habits than he wouldn’t be able to communicate with us effectively. You guys talk about how he moves wrong, well that's part to do with body language and part to do with how quickly humans move. He can’t keep up with us if he floats.”
The psychologist looked Adam over with a critical eye, “Have you been thinking about this?”
Adam shrugged, “Not really, it just makes sense. And I argue that it PROVES that your species is more adaptive than you originally thought. Krill isn’t broken, he has…. Well micro-evolved. I guess.”
The psychologist looked on with interest, “And…. what do you care about him.”
Adam snorted, “Look. Once you make friends with a human, or a group of humans your as good as family, sometimes better than. We have a saying on earth, the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. It means that the people you choose can sometimes be more important than the people you didn’t. Well we adopted Krill into our pack, he's as good as family to me, and I will do ANYTHING to keep him safe.”
WIth a slight shift of his body, the Vrul floated back.
Adam floated forward, “And when I say ANYTHING, I mean it.”
“But he's not even your species.”
Adam shook his head, “Doesn't matter, the human bonding instinct is so powerful that we routinely bond with inanimate objects. I bought a cactus (a plant) during my time in the airforce academy. I named him melvin, he’s still alive and lives at my parents house. We are great friends. I know a guy who won a stuffed pig at a carnival, and now it goes with him everywhere. My sister always buys the most mangled shaped food because it makes her sad to think that no one will buy it….. She's sad…. For vegetables.”
The Vrul had floated back even further.
“So when I say that we can bond with inanimate objects, imagine how we feel about Krill. Not only my good friend, but our doctor and our surgeon. He saved my life on multiple occasions which also means I owe him a debt of honor like the Drev see honor. I can’t let him go until I repay him, and even then I don’t plan on it.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I am saying that I WILL get y friend back, no matter what I have to do.”

TLTNL- GRAWP
"What I don't understand," Remus said in exasperation, "is how Voldemort was even in Nagini's mind? What on earth kind of magic allows that!"
It had taken them ages for the Marauders to finally stop talking about the twins epic leave of Hogwarts, but finally as James made to grab for the book again, Remus chose now to break in with something he'd been thinking on all morning. He glanced anxiously at Harry, and though he paled and flinched again at the reminder, he waved Remus on with a curious look in place.
"We've no more idea than how he's even alive," Sirius sighed, also glancing at Harry nervously, though in fear for what was happening to his pup, he was sure Harry could handle this conversation so long as he had them around.
"I was wondering if it was some unprecedented Parseltongue ability." Remus offered. "Nagini was telling Voldemort what happened in such detail, Voldemort was visualizing the whole thing, and Harry just happened to be present while that was happening. Just because Snape said it happened one way doesn't mean there aren't other options."
"I mean, I guess it could have happened that way," Lily frowned as she thought that through. "He'd be learning about this information and feeling the emotions in the moment, so it still counts-"
"but doesn't explain Harry's insisting fear he felt he had fangs for a moment," James disagreed.
"Harry still could have just been projecting what Voldemort was visualizing during Nagini's attack," Sirius disagreed.
"None of that explains Dumbledore's sudden no contact with Harry," Lily shot down. "This must be something, more. I can't think how else to put it, but something new must have happened over the summer, some ability Voldemort seems to have. It clearly does involve Harry in some way, his mind and connection at least, that has Dumbledore avoiding Harry."
"That doesn't track with everything else though," James said in exasperation. "Why allow Harry to even know about the Order if he really thought Harry knowing anything was dangerous?"
"He hasn't let me know much of anything," Harry shot back. He hated having to think about all this again, but it somehow felt better as well. He was no longer in the heat of the memory, being forced to listen to the idea he was turning into Voldemort. Now he instead got to hear them push around theories and ideas, and that would always feel more bearable, especially when he could feel they were close.
James didn't blame Moony for the change of subject, that had probably been on his mind since the part before Snape's memory had turned their world in a new direction, and it was a miracle he hadn't butted in with this by now. Nonetheless he beckoned to Harry, "why don't we do something nice for your mum, we'll do lunch."
Harry didn't hesitate in following him out, Lily watching them with a light frown. She didn't think Harry felt any ill will for James anymore, but clearly James had more to say. So she forced herself to remain in her seat rather than follow.
When James had said, 'do lunch,' he actually just rapped a pot on the stove to start heating leftovers, but it was the thought that counted, right? Instead he watched as Harry uneasily set the table. When both tasks were done, lunch was ready, and still neither had said a word, James finally forced himself to just spit out what he'd been chewing on this whole time.
"I am sorry."
Harry looked around in surprise, that was usually his line.
James watched Harry steadily for a reaction, hoping his continuing to bring this up wouldn't change whatever comfort Harry had taken in from Sirius, but he couldn't let this one drop without saying his piece either. "Not for that time," he clarified, "I'll never let anyone talk to Lily like that, but I am sorry I was that way, and it pushed Snape into saying that. I'm sorry if what I did to him really did push him into being a Death Eater, when I'd spent the past five years of my life showing Sirius that would never happen to him despite his family. I'm sorry for the way Snape treats you, that's entirely my fault."
Harry rested his hand on the back of a chair like he needed the support. The realizations still hit sometimes, that he was speaking to James instead of wishing it like he'd spent all his life doing, and now more than ever after such a harrowing blow to his memory was returned. "I forgave you," he told him with confidence. "It's like Lupin said, you were only fifteen. If you guys had just seen shots of my memory, me shouting at my friends for nothing, Hermione punching Malfoy, Ron's anger at me before the First Task; you'd all be thinking the worst as well. I wish I'd gotten to know more about you, but Mum's right. You changed," Harry stopped there. He wanted to say Snape hadn't, that he was still a bitter fifteen year old treating Harry like dirt because of what James had once done, but the words wouldn't fully come to him either. Snape was still a vindictive arse, but this memory had really charged something in him, leaving him very confused about his full memories to the man.
James didn't seem to notice that part though, as he roughly pulled Harry into a hug. The absolute fear Harry could have actually hated him hadn't really been felt until it was gone.
Harry returned the affection with a natural ease he never would have believed.
He also broke the hug first, saying, "I'm glad this one should be almost over, I've had a bad feeling about it from the start and I really just want to be done with this year."
James agreed at once, though Harry felt like he hadn't made himself plain enough about that bad feeling considering he was still smiling.
At least lunch was a calm affair, Lily saying they should be able to finish this book by dinner if they didn't have any more long dramatic interruptions which she tried to blame entirely on Sirius.
Sirius informed her she did this too much, but took the blame with grace by spending the rest of lunch refusing to talk about anything else by discussing with the boys anything and everything he could about Quidditch.
James and Lily managed to slip away for a few minutes by themselves to care for the baby, and James happily showed Lily a broom design made from redwood. Even if that tree wasn't native to their land, he'd import it just for his Lily flower.
It didn't actually take that much effort though to get them all back in seats, but they'd switched it up just a bit so now Harry was in between James and Sirius again simply to prove he had no ill will towards either of them. Remus took the seat next to Lily and muttered for her alone while James began looking for his place, "any bets on how long before the next catastrophe takes place in here?"
"I'd rather just pretend there's not going to be one," Lily huffed.
"Joys of being a pessimist, either you expect the worst, or you're pleasantly surprised to be wrong," Remus shrugged without remorse.
"That sounded more like the optimistic view on pessimism," Lily rolled her eyes while James began with a genuine smile again.
The story of Fred and George's was retold so often over the next few days that Harry could tell it would soon become the stuff of Hogwarts legend:
"I'm so proud!" Sirius squealed. "We've forever been upstaged by Weasley's and I'm not even upset!"
"I can hardly believe what they did, the mark they left," James couldn't stop smiling for something so momentous as the twins putting themselves into Hogwarts history like that.
For just a moment as Harry watched them react so proudly to this, he got just a touch jealous. They'd made it clear they were proud of him too, but he'd certainly never felt like he'd done anything Marauder worthy like the twins just had. Then he wondered if this was how Ron felt all the time, towards his own brothers, to his own best friend?
it stretched into the two becoming their own phrase, students could now be heard saying if they suffered anymore classes they'd pull a Weasley.
"I can't believe we were so easily replaced with our infamy," Sirius sighed.
"I think hiding our symbol in the Shrieking Shack is still good enough," Remus shrugged, that was where they spent more time than even their dormitory.
"Yeah," James grudgingly agreed, "guess I'm just jealous. If it wasn't for Lily, I'd feel like I wasted my last year at school not doing something as spectacular before I left."
Lily blushed faintly James had actually admitted aloud he'd cooled himself down just for her.
Fred and George had made sure nobody was likely to forget them too soon.
"Oh that's impossible," Sirius said firmly.
For one thing, they hadn't a clue how to remove the swamp filled corridor.
Then James promptly burst out with laughter as he kept envisioning the thing, the others joining in with delight. They hadn't thought the twins could get better and they just kept being proven wrong.
Umbridge and Filch had been seen trying all manner of things to be rid of it, but with nothing working, Filch was given the task of ferrying people across when need be, who was not at all pleased with this.
Lily gave a righteous laugh, still wanting to punt him from the school after what he'd so wanted to do to the twins, to any student. This was far more what he deserved.
Harry was certain that competent teachers could have removed the swamp in an instant,
"Well I do agree," Lily nodded, her mind boggling a bit at this stretch of magic, "I'd like to ask them how. What kind of magic even was that, an ever lasting potion, a transfiguration spell for the corridor?"
"I want to ask the twins!" Sirius whined. "Curse them not having done this yet."
Remus gave him a look for that comment even as he did agree.
but just as in the case of the fireworks, they seemed to prefer to watch Umbridge struggle.
"The appropriate response," Remus agreed.
Umbridge's door had to be replaced for the two broom shaped holes in it, and rumor now had it Harry's Firebolt was being kept in the dungeon with a security troll to prevent him doing the same.
"I actually believe that," Sirius groaned miserably.
"I wish you'd summoned it to you when they had," James sighed. "Even if you didn't fly off and join them, you'd find a way to keep it out of her webbed fingers."
"I was a little stunned at the moment," Harry protested, and no one argued the point, as they would have been as well.
Her troubles were still only just beginning.
Inspired by the twins, half the population of the school was now vying for the newly vacant position of Troublemakers-in-Chief.
"At some point the title could rest in peace," Lily said without a hope it would happen.
"My fingers are crossed for Ginny now," Sirius grinned, clearly the lot of them ignoring her, "she's got potential."
"What about that one lad always friends with the twins," Remus offered. "He wasn't mentioned going with them, but I'm sure he'd still miss them enough to keep up their legacy one more year."
"Guess it's too much to ask you tried?" James asked of Harry, who was already shaking his head in answer even with a smirk in place for remembering the chaos so constantly erupting in corridors for all this.
Such occurrences of this involved a niffler somehow getting into Umbridge's office and trying to chew off her rings.
"That poor Niffler," Remus said in concern.
"I saw Hagrid nursing it that afternoon," Harry promised.
As well as Dungbombs and Stink Pellets were dropped so frequently in the corridors that the Bubble-Head Charm became a new trend,
"I'm glad that spell's gotten some popularity," James grinned even remembering the ire of not knowing about it when it would have come in handy.
even though it gave them all the peculiar appearance of wearing upside-down goldfish bowls on their heads.
"Well, whoever said fashion isn't functional clearly never met that trend setter," Lily giggled.
When he wasn't attending tasks, Filch was prowling the corridors with a horsewhip in hand, desperate to catch someone to use it on, but the problem was there were so many around he had no clue which way to turn.
Harry watched all of them shake their heads in disgust for that, Lily even starting to get a nervous tick picturing some poor innocent kid ending up on the wrong side of him, so soothed, "don't worry, as far as I know, no one actually did get a single hit. If ever it looked like he'd pinned down someone long enough, kids you'd never believe did something to distract him so others could run away. I saw this Slytherin fourth year knock over a statue on purpose after Filch was screaming at a little Hufflepuff girl for accidentally tripping over one and 'destroying school property.'"
As if they hadn't enough reason to smile already, that gave them all yet more warmth for this display.
The Inquisitorial Squad was trying to help, but odd things kept happening to the members. Warrington was submitted to the hospital wing for his skin being covered in something akin to burnt cornflakes,
"I feel like someone got a hold of more wartcap powder," Sirius smirked.
and Pansy missed all her lessons the following day as she had sprouted antlers.
James in particular looked pleased with this bit of magic, one of his personal favorite tricks when people asked why he was called Prongs was to grow antlers on others for answer and claim that as his signature spell.
It also became clear just how many Skiving Snackboxes Fred and George had sold in their time, as soon every one of Umbridge's classes were fainting, vomiting, high with fevers, or had blood pouring endlessly from their noses, claiming to have Umbridge-itis.
"A deadly disease I would not wish upon my worst enemy," Remus kept grinning wider every second.
"I don't know, what do you think would happen if we put Voldemort and Umbridge in the same room?" Sirius couldn't help but ask.
"Either they'll kill each other-" Lily said hopefully.
"Or she'll have a new master to follow and somehow become even more terrifying," James shivered. "I still can't believe she's not actually a Death Eater!"
After putting four successive classes in detention and failing to discover their secret,
Harry sighed heavily for that one, rubbing at the back of his hand in remembrance. Madam Pomfrey had ordered whole stocks of Essence of Murtlap and had started handing them out without question, but none of that made it feel better to see others suffering what he had.
she was forced to let the droves of students leave.
In all their efforts though, no student had come close to the master of chaos, Peeves, who seemed to have taken Fred's words to heart.
James looked as if he'd found a treasure map, ticking off each item Peeves did like a new nugget of gold!
In a constant state of cackling, he was never seen without anymore; bursting through walls to scare anyone on the other side, knocking over whatever was upright, regularly shutting Mrs. Norris into anything available, smashing anything remotely breakable, juggling lit candles, flooding whole hallways, dropping tarantulas into the Great Hall during meals,
"I'll bet Ron loved that one," Remus got out in between James' breathless retelling.
and whenever he fancied a break, spent hours at a time floating along after Umbridge and blowing loud raspberries every time she spoke.
"I am actually impressed," Lily said faintly. "I never thought he could get worse!"
None of the staff but Filch seemed to be stirring themselves to help her.
"I'd be worried if they were," James wheezed, acting so giddy upon reading such massive mayhem he was likely to pass out soon. Of all the regimes going on inside their school, all the hateful new being passed around his son, finally some good was being the cause of it all!
In exact opposite it seemed, as Harry distinctly saw McGonagall pass by Peeves trying to unscrew a chandelier, and she told him it worked the other way.
Sirius fist pumped the air in triumph, all of them red faced from laughter and wishing McGonagall was here already so they could give her a hug in congratulations.
To cap matters, Montague had still not recovered from his sojourn in the toilet;
Sirius managed an extra hard laugh for that swift remembrance.
and his parents had been summoned to the school, the trio watching their arrival on the front lawn through their Charms class.
Hermione was worried they should say something about what happened to him, if it might help Madam Pomfrey cure him.
"Nah," the three Marauders said at once, while Harry rubbed at his temple in some empathy for Montague and Lily just shook her head at them.
Then they froze, and looked to Harry like any hint of no remorse upon another student would set him back into thinking the worst of them again. He however only considered this like he did all their passing comments, just them mouthing off. Even if they did mean it, he still couldn't really care, Madam Pomfrey had fixed worse injuries without anyone's help.
Ron said no at once, he'd be fine.
Harry agreeing it only caused more problems for Umbridge.
"This is true, it's not a good mark for the woman parents have to come up to the school," James smirked.
Not at all distracted, the two tried to tap their teacups and have legs grow from them. The spell was supposed to be like Hermione's, who's had grown four strong willow sticks and was trotting around happily.* Instead, Harry's grew such tiny stumps they didn't even bend enough to bring his cup off the desk, and Ron's were so flimsy the cup stood for only a second before falling and cracking in half.
Hermione repaired Ron's cup for him while still speaking if Montague was permanently injured?
Remus actually considered that for a second, again remembering the half broken cabinet and genuinely wondering if something had gone permanently wrong there.
Harry suddenly felt a heavy twitch cross his mind, some dire warning he should have paid more attention to this, because someone had...but he tried to shake that off and told, "I feel like he recovered." For some reason though, this only made him feel worse, and they easily let the matter drop, all confident Pomfrey could fix this.
Ron insisted no one cared, this was only a good thing for their already slim chances at the Quidditch Cup. If Hermione wanted someone to worry about, let it be him.
"Oh Ron, the spell's not that hard," Lily giggled, Flitwick would probably just assign them more homework practice.
While putting his finger under his cup to help support its weight, he told them he was expecting a howler any day now when it got through Umbridge's screening process.
"Why?" Sirius said slowly.
"If I'd guessed, it would have been back when the DA had been outed, but it's been far too long, he hasn't done anything more recently," James agreed curiously.
Hermione tried to ask why, but Ron was already explaining his mum was going to blame him for not stopping the twins leaving. He should have grabbed their broom tails or something to stop them, this was somehow going to be all his fault.
"Oh, she wouldn't," Lily tried to say even if her tone showed no signs of meaning it.
"I really can't see even Molly doing this one," Sirius shook his head. "I don't remember her ever saying to go after the twins once he got his Prefect badge. She's got a bad habit of comparing the youngest to the elders, but never seems to have expected the younger set to tell the elder ones off."
Harry at least fervently hoped so, Ron most certainly did not deserve that one when Harry was their enabler in all of this.
Hermione said if she did, it would be entirely unfair, he couldn't have done anything.
Harry grinned for Hermione again, thankful that finally she seemed to be on their side again in these arguments.
She was confident Molly wouldn't, clearly they had been planning this anyways if they had premise in Diagon Alley.
Ron said that was something odd though, as he wrapped his teacup to try the spell again, but he'd hit it so hard it only fell again.
"I don't think that's helping," Lily randomly giggled.
Where had they gotten the gold for that? Their mum was going to want to know.
"Did they never ask you what you did with your Triwizard Winnings?" James asked. He knew Harry had never told them, but his friends had never brought it up?
"I guess they just assumed I shoved it into my vault," Harry shrugged.
Hermione agreed that had occurred to her too, ignoring her own cup that was going in circles around Harry's cup who still hadn't tried moving with its stubby legs.
"This is just getting insulting," Lily couldn't stop giggling even while she said it.
She'd been wondering if they'd been doing work for Mundungus to get that kind of money.
"That wouldn't have been a bad guess," Remus agreed.
Harry said they hadn't at once.
"You finally going to tell them, because otherwise that was idiotic," Sirius scolded.
"I wasn't going to have their family thinking they'd done something illegal," Harry sighed. "I'd far rather Mrs. Weasley hate me than think something like that of anymore of her children."
"She's not going to hate you," James at once said with conviction. "The only thing she might be is flustered at the generosity, but she'll just have to get over that."
They asked how Harry would know that, and he only hesitated a moment before finally telling why.
Hermione was so surprised, her cup took a dive off the desk and neither of them noticed.
"Timing," Lily gave the loudest snicker of all.
Ron stated this was excellent, at once asking if he could tell his mum this was all Harry's fault!
Sirius burst out with laughter once again, James nodding along and agreeing, "Ron's priorities."
Harry agreed he'd better, especially if she was going to start thinking her sons had stolen cauldrons.
"I can see why you wanted to wait," Remus agreed, "now they're really going and she can't guilt them into giving it back."
Hermione said nothing at all for the rest of the lesson, but Harry had a shrewd suspicion that her self-restraint was bound to crack before long.
They all sighed, not particularly wanting to hear another Hermione lecture about what Harry had done stupidly lately.
Sure enough, once they were out in the quad in the weak May light, she turned to him with a determined look on her face, so Harry interrupted before she could start.
"Has that ever helped?" Sirius asked in surprise.
"Nope, but it was worth a shot after the last time she spent a whole day on it," Harry sighed.
He told her not to even start, it was over and done with, and to save her breath because he did not regret doing this for them.
Hermione sounded hurt when she said she wasn't going to say anything about that.
"Maybe if she wasn't nagging you all the time, she wouldn't be so offended when you try to stop her doing it," Remus rolled his eyes.
"Oh stop," Harry cut them off with a sigh. "Hermione's a bit much, I know that better than anyone, but lay off her for a bit, I jumped the wrong conclusion that time."
They gave in with a muttered apology.
Ron snorted disbelievingly and Hermione threw him a very dirty look.
"Can't say that wasn't deserved though," Remus muttered.
She insisted she wasn't, she'd wanted to ask him when he was going to ask Snape for more Occlumency lessons
"Why!" Sirius demanded. "He's been tortured enough this year!"
Once Fred and George's dramatic departure had evaporated their talk, the two had wanted to know what Harry had gone to talk to Sirius about. Still failing to explain the initial reason, Harry instead told them it had been to do with Snape stopping his lessons and Sirius wanted him to keep going with them.
James crinkled his nose at this, saying, "there are far too many holes in that, I'm not surprised Hermione's trying to get the real story."
"That's still not why she was having a go at me," Harry groaned.
He had regretted this ever since, as Hermione had then chosen to bring the subject up again when Harry least expected it.
"Ah, well honestly this one's your own fault, I could have told you not to bring this back up with her," Lily rolled her eyes.
"Especially as you still have no intentions of doing it," Remus shook his head, Harry's expression made that abundantly clear, and he felt quite sore his warning had so easily been brushed off by Harry.
Hermione snapped at him he couldn't pretend like they weren't needed, Ron had said he'd been muttering in his sleep again.
Harry gave Ron a furious look, who had the grace to be ashamed.
"I don't know, I can see the good of that one," Lily sighed as she saw some snippy comment on Sirius' lips. "He's worried about his friend, not on the same level as Hermione, but both recognize far more than you seem to this shouldn't be entertained," she finished with a look at Harry, who also had the grace to look ashamed for never trying harder at this. He wasn't sure if it was his mother's guilt trip, or something far more unspeakable that was causing him to feel this so heavily...
Ron apologetically said for both it had only been a bit, he'd been muttering about reaching further.
Harry lied he'd been dreaming of Quidditch, he wanted Ron to reach out just a bit further for the Quaffle.
Ron's ears went red, while Harry didn't feel a drop of remorse for lying.
"Brutal," Sirius laughed in surprise.
"But deserved," James sighed.
He had in fact again dreamed all the way up to the room full of glass spun orbs, but again woken up feeling he'd been moments away from the true want.
James stopped in alarm at the noise Harry made, all of them looking to him with deep concern as he groaned with misery, head in his hands again, breathing so heavily they could have been his last breaths.
"Harry!" James swiftly put the book aside at such an alarming reaction that somehow got worse each time this was brought up. "Harry, calm down! You're going to be fine, whatever is in there, you are going to be fine!"
This had no effect on making him better, as that was not what was gripping him so tight he couldn't breath. It wasn't his safety he so feared.
"It's okay, it's going to be okay," Sirius insisted, looking frantically to Lily or Remus to help, but they had no more clue what left him in such a mess. "Erm, what if I-" his mind flagged desperately for something to distract Harry with, "show you how we created the Marauders Map!"
"What?" Harry looked up in genuine surprise, the pain from his skull not yet fully subsiding which must explain the tears trickling out, but he wiped furiously at them to keep his attention on Sirius.
"Yeah," he confirmed at once. "Something to look forward to!"
James agreed at once, saying, "it took me a few days to create it, but it won't take near as long to recreate it. I've been wanting to show Lily anyways, you'll both get a kick out it."
Harry gave a slow nod, taking easier breaths now as he kept this promise tight inside him. Whatever horrid thing had happened in his past to cause this feeling, they were right, he had something he could cling to now as a promise he wouldn't have to relive his memory long.
James waited an extra moment to make sure Harry wasn't going to set himself into a full blown panic attack before gingerly picking the book back up, almost afraid of what else it was going to do to his son if this topic didn't change soon.
Hermione inquired then that he was still trying with his Occlumency?
Harry lied and said he was, but the truth was he was curious about all this and wanted the dreams to keep going.
Harry's whole center shook, he looked very much like he would collapse in a fit in moments. Clearly what he'd been thinking at fifteen, the exact opposite was trying to run through his mind now, and the two together were wreaking havoc inside of him.
James reached over again, grasping his shoulder firmly until he fought back for control, still waving him to go on adamantly for this to just be over with.
The problem was, with less than a month till exams, his mind usually seemed much more focused on stupid dreams.
"First you were complaining about them, now you want them and you're not getting enough of them," Remus tried to get a rise out of Harry instead of watching him tear himself apart for something he couldn't yet understand. "You never can seem to make up your mind eh?"
Harry offered him a flimsy smile that was as weak as the toddler upstairs.
He also suspected the more Hermioneish part of his mind was guilting him into waking up before the journey's end.
"Hermione doesn't seem so bad now she's right," James offered as Harry kept rubbing at his temples.
Sirius gave Remus a sympathetic look as well which Moony easily grasped. It wasn't just him being ignored, Harry wasn't taking advice from anyone about this.
Something new to distract him was the final match of the Quidditch season, Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw, which was to take place on the last weekend of May. Although Slytherin had been narrowly defeated by Hufflepuff in their last match,
"Wow, where's my description of that match!" Sirius yelped, grasping at any pleasant conversation, and this was an easy one.
"Nothing too memorable happened," Harry shrugged. "Malfoy actually caught the Snitch, for once, but he took Krum's way out. Hufflepuff was winning on points, Montague hadn't come back yet and the appointed Slytherin was a right idiot, I don't know what they were doing during training but it wasn't practicing."
"As much as they deserve," James cheered, wriggling in pleasure even as he kept a close eye on Harry to make sure he really was trying to put mention of that Department past him.
Gryffindor did not yet dare for a victory, though no one said it to him, because of Ron's goalkeeping ability.
Ron took his own outlook on the morning of, telling them at least he couldn't get any worse.
"There's the bright side," Lily snickered in surprise, while James just looked bemused at this. Better than constantly ragging on himself he supposed.
As Harry and Hermione were shuffling into the crowd, Hermione mentioned she suspected this game might just go better because Fred and George weren't around, they never helped his confidence.
"I can see that," Remus said fairly.
"They mocked him from time to time," Sirius disagreed, "but they were never so bad I think it damaged Ron any more than that horrid song. I don't think they'll make a real difference to him."
"Least Angelina already had their replacements," James grumbled, still wishing it was Harry on that pitch rather than Ginny, he was sick of reading side line events, he wanted to be back in the air!
Luna Lovegood overtook them with what appeared to be a live eagle perched on top of her head.
The boys burst out in surprised laughter Luna had indeed gone further with that idea!
It was as Harry watched this though, not at all mean spirited but that recent memory still with him, that the expression they'd first carried upon hearing of her finally clicked as he turned sharply to them. "Would you lot have done all that to Luna?"
James' automatic response wanted to be no, but he still considered the question for a moment before saying slowly, "ah, well, we certainly would have liked to have words with her, she's a fascinating thing."
"You would have mocked her?" Harry outright demanded with a raised brow.
Sirius blew a chunk of hair out of his face, but didn't deny, "guess it depends on how well we bothered to get to know her. We thought Remus was a right odd ball before we had a proper chat with him."
Harry saw they were still avoiding the question, as he'd honestly noticed outside their little group they didn't seem to 'converse' with much of anyone unless it was for a motive. Still though, he was just as fascinated they looked a touch ashamed even as they side stepped this. He hadn't realized his disapproval really meant so much to them.
Then the teams assembled on the edge of the field, and Hermione said her surprise she'd forgotten Cho would be playing. Harry grunted in response, he had not.
"Ex crush versus ex fan girl!" Sirius said loudly, very clearly trying not to let Harry linger on that last subject.
"Sadly I think Cho's got the better edge, she's played more games, actually wants this position," James eagerly put in.
"I wouldn't underestimate Ginny, we don't know how long Cho's been flying outside her house team, but we know Ginny's been doing it since single digits, she may well have the advantage," Remus offered insight.
Harry decided to let the Luna matter go, they'd yet to actually be doing anything wrong to her and there was no sense yelling at them for something they hadn't done wrong yet to one of his friends.
Across from them in the stands, the Slytherins were all filing in, and Harry hoped desperately they wouldn't have anymore chances to sing Weasley Is our King.
"I wasn't aware they needed an excuse, they just continued doing it because they're arse holes," Lily grumbled.
Lee Jordan, who had been very dispirited since Fred and George had left,
"That was it," Remus huffed for forgetting.
"Guess I can't blame him for not being in the mood to prank others when his mates up and did that," Sirius sighed.
was commentating as usual. As the teams zoomed out on to the pitch he named the players with something less than his usual gusto.
"I can just imagine McGonagall feeling sorry for the poor kid," James frowned sadly.
Harry watched Cho chat with Davies as the teams matched up, prepared to shake hands, and Harry found he only had a slight twinge of jealous as the two Ravenclaws smiled at each other before the captains shook hands.
"Guess that crush wasn't as gone as we thought," James looked to Harry in surprise, who only shrugged, he really didn't have much of a memory for this game, especially not Cho, though he wasn't exactly sure why. Surely even if he wasn't playing in it, he'd have a care? Maybe Ron really hadn't done any better and he'd tried to block the whole thing out, but that wasn't the right kind of disconnected feeling...
Lee began as usual, saying who had the Quaffle in what position, and Davies was already heading for Gryffindors goals, Gryffindor had a chance at making it, and- Lee swore.
"Least he hasn't lost all of his enthusiasm," Remus chuckled.
Ravenclaw had scored, and the Slytherins at once took up the chance with their song.
Harry and Hermione were distracted from what happened next by Hagrid sidling up to them, trying to remain crouched as if wanting to be out of sight, but even doubled over he was four feet taller than those next to him.
"Why's he trying to hide at all?" Lily asked in surprise. "He's been known to come to a few matches."
"Don't look at us," Remus shrugged even as he looked eagerly at James for this explanation that he had his fingers crossed in hope for.
He asked if they'd come with him, now, while everyone was watching the game.
"I can't believe I'm saying this," James gaped down at this, "but I'd actually go with him."
"If there's one thing to drag away a good Quidditch match," Sirius agreed, though finished rather threateningly, "but Hagrid had better finally be showing you what he's been up to, if it's for anything less, I'll find a way to curse that man through his skin for cutting this off."
Harry merely hummed in agreement.
Hagrid's nose was gently dripping blood. His eyes were both blackened. Harry had not seen him this close-up since his return to the school; he looked utterly woebegone.
Lily crooned loudly for the poor dear, all of them feeling a pain deep inside for what Hagrid was putting himself through. He must have a really good answer for this one!
Harry agreed without any thought.
Harry felt absolutely no regret for this decision, even as his face tightened just a bit, his innards promising this wasn't going to be a pleasant stroll.
The three got themselves out of the stands, Hagrid saying how much he appreciated them, and hoped she didn't see them leaving.
"Only one she I can think of," Lily spat, "and sadly she might have."
"She can't stop them from going off with Hagrid," Remus miserably tried to argue, already feeling it pointless.
Harry said Umbridge was surrounded by her Inquisitorial Squad like she was expecting trouble, there was a good chance she hadn't noticed them.
"Guess she understands less than I thought, which is saying something. No one would try a prank during a Quidditch game," Sirius heavily rolled his eyes.
Hagrid said that may be good for them, give them more time, as he started heading towards the Forest.
Lily began playing with a strand of hair with nerves. She knew Hagrid wasn't purposefully leading Harry to anything dangerous, but this was certainly not a pleasant beginning in her opinion, and it was nice to see the others faces showed agreement even as well used to the Forest as they were.
Hermione asked what they were doing as they went across the lawn, but in favor of answering Hagrid heard a roar go up from the crowd behind them and asked if someone else had scored.
Harry said it would be Ravenclaw again.
Harry winced heavily and they all felt the same, maybe leaving had been a good idea anyways, that wasn't fun to think about.
Hagrid was so distracted, he said this was a good thing.
"Now I know he's not thinking right," Sirius grumped.
Hermione tried to turn into Hagrid's cabin when they passed it, but Hagrid kept walking right to the edge of the trees where his crossbow was waiting.
"He must have just come back from whatever he was training," Remus realized.
"Think he thinks he's finally got it domesticated and wants to show off?" James asked, that didn't feel important enough to be dragged away from Quidditch, but then, Hagrid had different priorities.
"I still think there's something more than that going on," Lily sighed. "It's very clear Hagrid cares deeply for something new going on, just training a new best can't really mean more than his job?" She phrased it as a question though, none of them were quite sure of Hagrid's comments from before.
Harry asked why he needed that, he hadn't taken it with him when they'd seen the Thestrals.
"This new thing of his is less and less encouraging," Sirius agreed.
Hagrid said they hadn't been going in as deep, and that was before Firenze left the Forest.
"Why's that change anything?" Remus asked in surprise.
Hermione asked why that made a difference.
"Thank you Sirius!" Remus said quickly and with such a mocking gratitude you could almost believe it. "Really, just thank you so much for sharing that, I hadn't a clue I'd done it!"
"Alright, no need to get snippy," Sirius smirked.
Hagrid said the other centaurs were now very riled up. It used to be he could go wherever he liked in this Forest, they were always friendly, but not anymore.
"What's that got to do with Hagrid though?" James ruffled up his brow.
"Familiar loyalty," Sirius nodded to himself as he explained aloud. "The centaurs know Hagrid's trust in Dumbledore, they'll blame anyone associated with him right now for what he asked a Centaur to do."
"But it was Firenze's decision," Harry protested. "Why be mad at us?"
"For offering it," Remus sighed.
Harry felt a deep chill web around his mind, promising he had no want to deal with an angry centaur.
Angry didn't cover it, they were livid with Dumbledore and Firenze, probably would have kicked their fellow centaur to death if Hagrid hadn't stepped in, he'd had half the herd on him.
They all gave sympathetic noises for that, Harry even saw some traces of fear in them at the same time. He could hardly imagine the scene himself, but just the thought was giving him the creeps, it probably was terrifying thinking about all this in detail when he wasn't so distracted wondering why he may have seen it in person.
Harry was amazed Hagrid had stopped all that, and Hagrid said he certainly couldn't have just stood by. Then he added more menacingly he'd have thought Firenze would remember that before sending stupid warnings.
"I'm worried he was trying to return a favor," Lily muttered, still considering Hagrid's injuries. They weren't yet deadly, but if he kept at it, they may keep progressing.
Hermione asked if that's what Hagrid wanted their help with, the centaurs?
"Oh he'd never ask for your help with that," Remus said at once.
"And those injuries started up well before this," Lily agreed.
Hagrid simply said no, and kept plunging deeper into the shadows. Harry wasn't too worried, he'd been in the Forest a few times and followed Hagrid willingly, until he stepped off the path. Remembering vividly what had happened in his past when he did this, he tried to ask where they were going, but Hagrid didn't answer as he plunged into the more wild parts of the woods. Harry and Hermione had a hard time following, often getting caught in thickets and brambles while Hagrid walked right through them.
"I'm surprised he hasn't created a new path, as often as he seems to have headed to this thing," James said, his eyes still narrowed suspiciously to what Hagrid had added to a Forest he knew so well.
After several miles of heavy silence where even the snapping of a twig felt ominous, it occurred to him that he had never managed to get this far into the Forest without meeting some kind of creature.
The tense unease kept growing in here, like the book was pressing that darkness out and shadowing the whole room with its eerie vibe. Harry had yet had a very pleasant experience in this Forest in any sense, and even with Hagrid inviting them into this one, they could already feel it wasn't going to turn out much better.
When Hagrid came to an abrupt halt, Harry walked right into him and fell back into a thorny bush Hermione had to dig him out of.
Hagrid apologized and decided to explain back here before they got to the spot, and began by saying there was a good chance he'd be getting the sack any day.
"He did not bring them all the way out there to say that," Sirius rolled his eyes.
"No," Remus agreed, "but we know he finds this more important than that, so at least we're finally getting that answer."
Hermione said he'd done well so far, what changed?
Hagrid said Umbridge thought he'd put that Niffler in her office.
"That's ridiculous," Remus scoffed at once, it was akin to him doing that, and he'd never put anything in her vicinity if he could help it.
"And when has she ever done anything remotely reasonable," Sirius' face was scrunched up for the ludicrousness of it even as he agreed.
Harry asked if it was before he'd thought about it.
"Harry," James said in exasperation, his son should know full well Hagrid would never use a creature for such a purpose.
"I know," Harry agreed with his idiotics. "Reflex question." This lot knew all about that.
Hagrid said no, but that hadn't convinced Umbridge, who associated any problems with creatures on him. He'd honestly leave now so that he wouldn't have to suffer in public like Trelawney had.
James didn't have to think about that one at all as he nodded in agreement, he could respect that.
He'd be useful to the Order out there helping Dumbledore.
"Hagrid knows where Dumbledore is?" That one caught Remus by surprise.
"I wouldn't be surprised if the Order actually does," Lily shrugged, "even if we're not sure now."
They had Grubbly-Plank to get them through their exams, his voice wobbled there and broke.
Lily felt a heartbreaking sigh pour out of her, she didn't want Hagrid to ever feel unneeded! She wanted him in her son's life just for being such a good man, no matter how he was in a class!
The problem was, he couldn't just leave without telling anyone, and he needed their help, and Ron's if he was willing.
Harry agreed at once asking what he needed them to do?
"You have such a big heart," Lily told her son, starting to feel a little teary eyed herself for what Hagrid was going through.
Harry had no response for that, he'd do anything to help his friend.
Hagrid thanked them tearfully, and led them the rest of the way.
"I thought he said he was going to explain!" Sirius said, the suspense was about to kill him. "He just stopped to tell them what was going on!"
"That's the same thing," Remus told him just to keep James paused for an extra second.
Sirius scowled at him, while James decided to ignore them anyways.
They reached a small clearing where a great mound was in front of them like a den, and all around were trees ripped up by the roots. Hagrid breathed sleeping, and Harry heard it too, a great set of lungs at work. He looked sideways at Hermione, who looked terrified.
"I don't blame her," Remus muttered, his mind flipping through all sorts of things that lived inside mounds, though as this could be something undiscovered even any of those may not be possible.
James was more in deep curiosity than anything. Hagrid was there, he had no fear Harry would come to any harm.
She asked who is he?
"Err," Lily began in confusion, sure she'd heard wrong.
Then she kept going, her voice shaking why he was here, Hagrid had said none wanted to come!
"What's, Hermione, on, about?" Sirius said slowly, he couldn't put together such a declaration with just an animal...
Harry looked to Hagrid, Hermione, and then realization struck as he looked back at the mounded earth, which in fact was moving in time with the deep breaths. It was a curved back.
"A giant!" Remus interrupted with a near shriek. "He actually brought a giant into that forest!"
James' voice had failed him, his mouth left hanging open so he couldn't have kept going even when the book had broken off. This truly was a new level of unbelievable.
"Has he lost his mind!" Sirius was so blown away by this one he wouldn't even deny the squeak in his voice. "A giant! A real, bloody, giant!"
Harry felt just as numb as the others from shock, but it was his fumbling fingers that snagged the book away to try and force this to keep going.
Hagrid agreed he hadn't exactly wanted to, but Hagrid had to bring him.
"It's his family," Lily whispered, her eyes still too wide from shock, but a flash of understanding lit them nonetheless.
"When he was at the Three Broomsticks," James recalled breathlessly.
"Oh Hagrid," Remus groaned in sudden understanding, genuine sympathy now for the man even if he couldn't find the air to really say it.
Sirius wasn't quite there yet, he was still putting his mind into the thought someday he'd walk into his Forest and a giant would be there!
Hermione demanded why!
Hagrid insisted that if he just spent a little time around here, taught him some manners, he could show everyone how harmless he was.
"Harmless!" Lily said near hysterics. "He's been beating the shit out of him for months!"
"Hasn't killed him yet though," Sirius couldn't help but point out as this started to fully form in his mind.
"Was that supposed to make me feel better?" Lily demanded, her voice wasn't lowering in volume and starting to hurt their ears.
Hermione accused this was why he was always injured. Hagrid defended he didn't know his own strength.
"That I'd actually believe," Remus said slowly, some form of acceptance starting to set in as he really thought past the shock.
Hermione still couldn't believe this was why he'd taken two extra months to get home!
"Yeah, I'd say lugging a giant behind you could slow you down!" Lily's voice was still extremely high pitched, but at least she was making an attempt to lower it now.
Hermione demanded why he had, he'd have been happier with his own kind!
Hagrid insisted he'd been picked on while there for being so small.
"Small." James repeated the word slowly, shaking his head back and forth as he was stuck in the same vision as Sirius, their forays into the Forest suddenly being interrupted by a giant crashing through a nearby tree, no one wanted to know how Moony would have reacted to that. Yet thankfully Harry reading was putting a good distance from that image, and James got the book back from Harry without fuss.
Hermione repeated small in near hysterics.
"I suppose, by that description, he's either not fully grown, or a runt," Remus nodded.
"Try telling him that," Harry muttered, his mind still boggled at such a huge movement as his breathing.
Hagrid pleaded with them to understand, near tears as he told that was his brother.
"That, is a relation, that makes sense," Lily grudgingly agreed, finally her voice only just a touch more off than usual, but sympathy for Hagrid's situation was finally pushing past the shock. It was the same as always, she trusted Hagrid. If he said his brother hadn't meant to hurt anyone, then she'd just have to believe he wasn't going to turn on her son the moment he awoke.
Well, half-brother, he amended. His mum had another child when she'd left his dad, Grawp here.
"Grawp?" Harry repeated curiously.
"Never claimed giants had our kind of names," Sirius shrugged, his brow still set deep in thought, but now he was almost back to normal and could appreciate Hagrid's position at least.
Harry wasn't sure he'd heard that right, and Hagrid said that's what he thought was being said when asked for a name. He didn't know much English, though Hagrid had been teaching him. His mother had abandoned Grawp as well for being so small, so he was all alone, he was only sixteen feet.
"Poor Hagrid," Lily went new, her voice now coming out in a whisper as now she felt like Hagrid needed a hug, after she popped him over the head for giving her heart failure.
Hermione's voice was still in shrieking shock as she said how miniscule that was!
"Who knew Hermione turned sarcastic during these times," Sirius muttered, he couldn't get a joke to his mind yet.
Hagrid insisted he was being kicked around by the others.
Harry asked what Maxime had thought of this, and Hagrid said she'd realized how important this was to him, but got tired of fighting to get him back, so she'd just promised not to tell anyone.
"Good woman, that," James sighed, knowing he'd probably have done the exact same as Maxime, he wouldn't pretend he'd try to handle a giant, even a...small one.
Harry asked how he'd even gotten back here. Hagrid explained they could only travel by night and very out of the way, Grawp could cover quite a bit of distance when he wanted to, the problem was he didn't, kept wanting to go back.
Harry gave a pitiful sigh, he didn't need to ask. He'd been kicked around plenty in his youth but had always returned home because he'd always known he had nowhere else to go. Hagrid seemed to have a gift for taking wayward souls away.
Hermione buried her face in her fingers as she asked why Hagrid hadn't just let him, what was he going to do with a violent giant?
Hagrid defended violent was too strong, he took a swing now and again when he was in a mood, but he was getting better.
Harry asked what the ropes were for then?
"Well if he was wanting to go back, I suppose I can see Hagrid stopping him leaving when he wasn't around," Sirius frowned heavily.
As Harry's eyes had adjusted and made out more detail, he found ropes binding the giants ankles and around his waist.
Hagrid repeated he didn't know his own strength, and Harry now understood why there were no other creatures in the area.
"Oh yeah, I can see that," James finally nodded at something that made sense to him in his forest.
Hermione circled back to asking what Hagrid wanted them to do?
"Almost forgot about that," Remus shivered, he didn't like the idea of Harry around...Grawp with Hagrid around, now Hagrid was asking them to keep looking after a hateful giant after Hagrid was gone! How was this worse than the Skrewts?
Hagrid just said he needed looking after, while Harry and Hermione exchanged an uncomfortable look, well aware they'd already promised Hagrid they would.
"I feel as if at some point there's a line, and he crossed it," Lily said miserably, as she wouldn't feel right backing out of this either even with the circumstances. "A bruised rib to Hagrid could knock your skeleton right out of you! I'm sorry Harry, but I'm worried this one's above you!"
Harry certainly wasn't going to argue the point.
Harry did not argue the point, and they were just as relieved as they were upset for Hagrid Harry didn't seem gung ho to keep this particular promise.
Hermione asked for details, and Hagrid said nothing too big. He got his own food, birds or deer that traveled through,
James looked vaguely offended, even if he knew it to be true. It just wasn't helping his mind's eye as he kept imagining trying to run away from this thing.
Hagrid really just wanted them to come out here and talk to him, help teach him along in talking.
Harry said nothing as he kept eying Grawp, picking out details. Now he saw that his feet were the size of sleds and bare, his clothes seemed roughly stitched together. His head was like a boulder sitting right atop his shoulders with his ears sitting more on the area where his neck should be.
Remus couldn't deny a touch of fascination in him at Harry's description. He'd only heard general depictions of them as well, and though he still had no want to meet one in person, Harry's were always more vivid than usual texts.
Harry hollowly repeated Hagrid's want for them to teach him English. He now understood what Firenze's warning had meant.
"I almost wish I didn't," Sirius grumbled, in this case ignorance had been bliss.
He could just imagine the other creatures of this Forest hearing Hagrid's vain attempts to teach Grawp English.
Hagrid agreed cheerfully, even if they just came out here to chat with him, keep him around people.
Harry looked to Hermione and said it made him wish for Norbert back.
Sirius blanched for a moment, but after considering he told, "no, actually this is still marginally better. I'll take whatever form of intelligence this thing posses over that beast."
"Wow," Harry said towards him, as of now he'd still rather have it the other way.
Hagrid misunderstood, confirming that they'd do it?
"He really didn't get that was supposed to be a bad thing?" James muttered, that concept seemed lost on Hagrid quite a bit.
Harry uneasily said they'd try-
Hagrid beamed at him, saying he'd known he could count on him!
Even as Lily shook her head in exasperation for Hagrid, she was smiling just a bit as well now. She couldn't deny some part of her was happy for Hagrid finally having a bit of family back to him.
He insisted it wouldn't be much, just nip out here once a week, then he decided to introduce them.
Hermione said that wasn't necessary!
"Well yes it is," Remus corrected. "Much safer to be first seen with Hagrid, at least he knows him."
"And considers him his kidnapper," James reminded hollowly. "So I'm really torn here."
Harry still didn't want to say what was really on his mind, he didn't really have a want to see Grawp again with or without Hagrid.
Hagrid ignored them, picked up a long sturdy branch, and jabbed Grawp in the back with it.
"He just poked a giant!" James said faintly, unable to believe what he'd just said and stuck on that one for several moments before Harry gave him a commiserating pat on the shoulder that was probably supposed to be reassuring.
Grawp woke with an ear splitting roar that shook birds from trees. He got onto his knees to turn around and see who was here, and Hagrid greeted him as Grawpy, telling he'd brought company.
Harry and Hermione backpedaled as far as they could while keeping him in sight, as his face leaned in like a dull grey full moon.
All three Marauders blanched in shock at the description they weren't taking kindly too.
His features seemed misshapen, the nose of no real design, the hair looking more like moss even a dark brown, and his pupils were rather tiny and currently still cummed with sleep. He took to his feet with surprising agility and turned away.
"Don't ever underestimate speed for size," Remus agreed, James wanting to smack him for starting to sound more interested than resigned like the rest of them.
He went over to the nearest tree and plucked a birds nest up out of the higher branches, turning it upside down and pelting them with eggs like grenades below.
"I can see how riveted he was by the company," James said deadpan.
"Be pleased while it lasts," Lily grumbled, at least finding some small comfort Grawp hadn't at once started trying to take Hagrid's limb off.
Hagrid tried to keep his attention, yelling to Grawp about that trip he'd be going on, and these were his new friends who'd be coming to visit him.
"I thought he couldn't understand English quite yet," Sirius shifted uneasily.
"I can see why Hagrid does it though," Remus shrugged, "that's one of the ways you learn other languages, hearing them as well as practicing to speak them."
"Oh, so now it's a good idea," James frowned at him.
"I'm not saying Harry should do it," Remus defended, "I just understand why Hagrid is talking to him."
Grawp took no notice, Harry wasn't even sure if the giant recognized what Hagrid was doing was speech. He'd instead sized the nearest tree and began pulling on the top, the fascination on his face making it clear he did it for the simple pleasure of seeing how far he could go before it would spring back.
"Exactly how old is he?" Lily asked.
"Not sure," Harry muttered, "I only know what Hagrid said."
"He could be older than Hagrid, we don't know which kid came first, though I think Hagrid assumed it was himself." Remus shrugged.
"Either way, I don't see what that has to do with anything," Sirius muttered.
Lily considered this response more to do with the fact Sirius would probably try to do the same thing if he was that size no matter what age.
Hagrid tried to tell him not to, that's how he'd pulled up the last ones, but when the creaking roots could be heard, Hagrid intervened and gave him another jab with the stick.
Grawp looked down with an expression of clear annoyance as Hagrid waved to Harry and Hermione. Grawp only just seemed to realize their presence as he gazed down at them still half hidden behind a tree.
"How good is a giant's eye sight?" Harry asked wearily, he wasn't going to enjoy the experience of one checking out his hairline.
"As good as ours I'd imagine," Remus scratched at his ear. "Perhaps better, as they hunt more naturally than we do."
He introduced Harry first, and tried to do the same for Hermione, but realized her full name may be beyond him, so asked her if he could call her Hermy.
Hermione gave a squeaky agreement.
"I know I would have protested," Sirius sniffed. "If my name was the first four syllable word he'd said, it could be an accomplishment."
Hagrid introduced Hermy to Grawp,
"So does that mean we can start calling her-"
"No," Harry told Sirius flatly before he could even finish.
saying she was going to come out here as well and, Grawp no!
James nearly jumped from his chair in surprise, he hadn't intended to shout that so loud but he'd just been getting back to a place of normalcy in his mind as he adjusted to this situation, now Hagrid was scolding him!
Grawp's hand had shot out of nowhere and tried to seize Hermione, but Harry reacted a moment faster and pulled her back behind the tree as Grawps palm scraped against the bark but seized on air.
Lily gasped, watching Harry's arms tense at his side now like he was prepared to pull her away again.
Hagrid scolded he was being a bad boy, not to grab, while Hermione clung to Harry whimpering.
"Oh, he wouldn't have really hurt her!" Remus tried, and failed to say even as he'd gone a bit white in shock. "He might have just been trying to pick her up, out of curiosity-"
"And look how well that's worked out for Hagrid," Harry shuddered all over.
Then Hagrid let out his own yelp of pain, and Harry poked his head back out to see Grawp had swatted Hagrid away and gone back to his tree.
"Good to know of his attention span I suppose," James tried to say around a squeak, there was just no way he could find some fun in this one.
Hagrid stumped over to them holding his newly broken nose, saying that was enough for one day.
Some color finally started coming back to James' face, Lily was still rubbing at her chest, and the other three were still trying hard not to show they were shaking. A giant. This was a new level, even for Hagrid...
They began walking away, Harry and Hermione still struck dumb. Hagrid actually wanted them to come visit a giant in the Forbidden Forest and pointlessly teach him English?
"Now that's pushing it," Remus couldn't quite push into scolding as he was still shifting his weight in unease. "You heard Hagrid say he had full conversations with them, they can be spoken to as well as a Centaur if you give them half a chance, this one in particular just never seems to have been put into any type of situation like this."
Harry looked at him like he wasn't sure what to say to that. He'd put up with a lot of crazy things for Hagrid, and this one still felt like the worst.
Harry had never understood Hagrid's insistence the most killing things were lovable and harmless, but this was a new one fooling himself Grawp could mix with humans.
"That one is stretching it just a touch," Sirius agreed. "He'd be just fine spending his days in a far off proximity, but not unapproachable, if Hagrid shows we're not all bad." He couldn't quite put the right tone into place, he still wanted to rage at Hagrid for putting a giant into the Forbidden Forest! If the name hadn't been appropriate before, it was now!
Then Hagrid took them both by surprise by drawing his crossbow and fitting an arrow in.
"There's a giant in the forest," Lily enunciated clearly like they already would have forgotten. "I can't imagine something much scarier, and Hagrid hadn't pulled a weapon on him."
Even still, James was back to bouncing his leg with unease. He knew plenty of things Harry could expect in there, and it was good for Hagrid to be on guard, they seemed far enough away from Grawp this was necessary.
They waited in tense silence until a male voice told Hagrid he was no longer welcome here.
"Can the Centaurs do that?" James protested in further outrage, that was somehow even more offensive to him than the giant.
"By our laws, no," Remus said carefully. "The Forest is property of the school, so it's technically Hogwarts land...but the Centaurs may well recognize no such thing. It's rather a conflict that's never had to be brought up in our history, for we've never fought over the space."
"That Forest has been there since Hufflepuff sanctioned it back when the castle was being built," Sirius offered to Harry.
"The stories are unclear though, if the Centaurs were already in the area, or if the Hogwarts Founders created it and they claimed it," James sighed.
Lily was honestly impressed at their history lesson, and so apparently was Harry as he tried to keep focus on this and told them how interesting that was even as he kept looking worriedly at nothing. He didn't like this set up, Grawp not too far off, angry centaurs...
A whole group of centaurs had arrived, including one Harry recognized as Bane. Hagrid wearily greeted the foremost, Magorian, who gave no friendly greeting back, repeating Hagrid was no longer welcome here after he'd helped the traitor Firenze enter servitude.
Hagrid protested this, saying he was doing a favor for Dumbledore!
"There is no point arguing this," James said tensely. Even having Hagrid describe the fight before had made him uneasy, now Harry may well find himself in the middle of it.
"Hagrid won't really start something," Lily tried to say with conviction, "he'll get them out of there, he's been dealing with this for a while now at least."
The centaur said there was no coming back from such disgrace, and Hagrid had lost the friendship of the centaurs by helping him, he was no longer welcome in their forest.
Hagrid shot back he wasn't going to be hearing any of this 'their'. It wasn't their say who came and went here.
Magorian cut in no more than Hagrid's. He'd let him pass today because he was with his young,
"His young," James couldn't help but mutter that a second time, though they'd all long since noticed Hagrid seemed to have as unofficially adopted the kids as much as Molly had.
Bane interrupted they were not his, but students, profiting from the teachings of the traitor Firenze!
"I would not call his vague life's a mystery speech profiting," Sirius rolled his eyes.
"Not helping," Remus hissed at him.
Magorian did not waver, they did not hurt the innocent. Hagrid may pass today, but this was his final warning.
Hagrid shouted he wasn't going to let these mules tell him where he could and couldn't go.
They all began itching terribly in fear of this fight. It was probably easier not being there, but they could see both sides in light, and didn't care about either! They just wanted Harry to get out of there!
The centaurs turned to leave anyways, but Hagrid kept shouting after them he wasn't going to let them scare him off. Harry and Hermione put their hands on Hagrid's back to try and force him to move along, but then he glanced down in surprise like he hadn't even felt it.
"Bloody hell," James blinked in surprise. Not that they'd ever tried, but they'd have liked to think Hagrid would have at least registered the two!
He told them to calm down, they wouldn't really do anything, then he took off again as if nothing had happened.
Hermione uneasily kept pace, trying to say to Hagrid that if the centaurs weren't letting people come through, than the three of them wouldn't be much help to Grawp.
Hagrid brushed this off, repeating their own words they wouldn't hurt the innocent. Besides, they shouldn't let those centaurs push them around.
"I see where he's coming from," Sirius said genuinely, he knew he'd have a few things to say if a centaur had ever told them off for being caught in there.
"But while I admire Hagrid for not letting them push him around," James grudgingly agreed, "it wouldn't kill him not to insult them while he's at it!"
"A little avoidance can go a long way," Remus agreed, knowing Hagrid knew this place well enough he should be able to pass by Centaur heavy areas just like they could.
Harry watched all of them with a small smile of pride in place. As if he'd needed further evidence they weren't still fifteen, but here they were actually speaking of avoiding a real life fight.
Harry told Hermione nice try at her disappointment this hadn't made a dent in Hagrid.
They rejoined the daylight to see people pouring out of the stadium laughing and cheering,
James spluttered in surprise, he'd actually forgotten a game was going on!
"Well, I found something to cheer me up next time Ron's goal keeping is mentioned," Sirius groaned. "Teaching ABC's to a giant!"
and Hagrid told them to hurry along into that so they wouldn't be missed, then he went to his cabin. Harry and Hermione trudged back looking distinctly out of place with their numerous tiny cuts and twigs in their hair, but Hermione took no notice of this as she said she couldn't believe him!
"Oh I do," Lily sighed. In Hagrid's...inflated world, she really did see where he was coming from, but did he have to drag Harry into this one?
Harry tried to get her to calm down, but she wouldn't hear it. A giant in the Forest! He wanted them to teach English to it, assuming they could get past the murderous centaurs!
"I think the centaurs scare me more than the giant!" Remus shivered harder than ever to prove his point.
"That didn't make me feel better," Harry told him, a still rather distracted look in place as he had no clue why he agreed with him.
Harry tried to say they didn't have to do anything yet, and Umbridge might not-
Hermione cut him off to say of course she'd get rid of him, and after this who could blame her!
"I can!" They yelped in protest. It was very clear Harry wasn't the only one losing his temper this year if Hermione was going to be saying nonsense like that!
There was a pause in which Harry glared at her, and her eyes filled slowly with tears.
"At least she regretted it," James sighed, letting go of his anger the moment he read that. Hermione did care, she was just scared, they all were at this news.
She admitted she didn't mean that, but the rest of her words were cut off by singing.
Insert Gryffindor version of Weasley is Our King.
James paused with his head cocked to the side in confusion, his wild hair looking more flyaway than ever as he shook it and told them he hadn't read that wrong. Hardly daring to pretend to understand the mix up, he kept going in a slow, forced calm voice.
Hermione began miserably she wished they'd stop gloating, it was already bad enough, but then Harry whispered it wasn't the Slytherin's singing as the edited lyrics continued.
"No, way," Sirius whispered, his eyes now locked on James with nothing else going through his ears.
"They, used the lyrics," Remus spluttered, a grin spreading across his mouth more from surprise than actual pleasure hitting him yet.
James ignored them both, Lily and Harry were still sitting there with their mouths open in shock as he practically shouted the rest.
Hermione whispered no in surprise, Harry shouted yes in excitement, and Ron caught sight of both of them atop many people's shoulders and shouted about their win!
Lily squealed in triumph, clapping and bouncing in place as they all began laughing and cheering loudly. The damn broke, James hardly wanted to finish he was dancing around in so much excitement, but he also couldn't have stopped yelling the words in triumph no matter how hard he tried!
They beamed up at him as he passed. There was a scrum at the door of the castle and Ron's head got rather badly bumped on the lintel,
Sirius laughed so hard he nearly fell out of his seat and banged his own head on the table, and no one stopped to notice that either in their fusing excitement. They didn't have to keep worrying about Grawp right now, this was something so immensely good instead!
They waited until the large cheering crowd had stormed past before turning back to each other, their smiles fading a bit.
Harry said they'd tell him tomorrow.
"You are the best friend ever," Remus assured Harry, or at least tried to over the din. No one would want to be the one to tell all this to Ron in such a glorious moment.
Hermione agreed as they headed up to the party, but both stopped at the door and looked back, wondering if it was their imagination a bunch of birds shooting into the sky far off into the Forest, as if something had just tried to pull up their tree by its roots.
James hardly paid this any mind, the giant wasn't actually hurting anything in the forest yet, but this was wonderful!
"I can't believe you missed that!" Sirius shouted right in Harry's ear, and he hardly even noticed. "You, you actually missed the Quidditch Cup, and they won!"
"I'm sorry, okay," Harry raised his hands in defence even as he couldn't straighten up in his seat from his shoulders shaking too hard. "I know Ron'll make sure I hear every last thing!"
James suddenly didn't want to give the book up to Sirius. This was fantastic! So many bad things had happened this year, but he was actually hoping this was a pattern that was going to keep going, and with his luck Sirius was probably going to get to read about something happening to Umbridge finally. Surely Grawp was the worst thing to happen to Harry the rest of the year.

*This is one of those spells I genuinely question, why? If you just want to transfigure the cup, then you're in the wrong class. If the goal is for the cup to sprout legs to bring you, like a sugar bowl or something, levitate it to you. This...is just so entirely random to be an actual spell being practiced in class!

Top 10 TV Shows You Need To Watch Right Now
Tumblr media
Now, I watch a lot of television. I always have and frankly, I’m much more of a binge watcher than a wait-around-for-a-week-for-the-next-episode kind of watcher.
And with everything the past few months, there wasn’t all that much to do other than start rewatching some of my favorite shows and some that I’ve never seen or haven’t seen in a while.
So, that’s what I did and here I am giving you some recommendations for shows to add to your own watching lists.
Warning, though, some of these don’t end the best way and may end up more as a disappointment. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
Tumblr media
I. Fringe.
I cannot recommend this show enough to people. It’s got five full seasons (although the last could’ve been a little better, but it’s honestly not that bad of a final season) of high-risk scenarios revolving around almost unexplainable phenomena regarding a tear in the fabric of reality. It deals with experiments that gives superpowers (basically), advanced technology, and a parallel universe.
Plus, there’s a cow.
What more could you want from a show?
Some familiar faces that are in the main cast or show up at some point include John Noble, who you may recognize from Sleepy Hollow and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Lance Reddick, who was in The Wire, White House Down, American Horror Story, and played Charon in the John Wick franchise, Leonard Nimoy, who you should know from the original Star Trek series, and Anna Torv from Mindhunter.
Tumblr media
II. Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.
Now, if you know crime books, you may know exactly what this is based off of. If not, fear not, I am here to tell. This series (which, like a lot of the others down the list, unfortunately, got cancelled and won’t get to see a second season) was based off of The Bone Collector, a first in a series of novels by Jeffery Deaver.
If you like crime shows, you should definitely give this a shot. Don’t let the fact that it’s only one season stop you.
Things get pretty wild in just one season as it revolved around a retired forensic criminologist, who had been trying to catch the Bone Collector only to get injured, that gets back into the game three years later when an ambitious young detective is determined to help solve the case when a new body shows up.
You might even recognize a face or two, like Arielle Kebbel (the ambitious young detective) from her role as Lexi in The Vampire Diaries and Olivia Charity in Midnight, Texas, and Russell Hornsby (the retired forensic criminologist) from Grimm, The Hate U Give, Proven Innocent, and The Affair.
Tumblr media
III. Manifest.
Luckily, this show is said to be getting a third season and so far, isn’t going to get cancelled. It focuses on passengers from Flight 828, who show up five years after their plane went missing. Some passengers start experiencing what they call ‘callings’ and try to figure out if they were chosen for some sort of duty that the callings led them too, but things get a little confusing when someone who wasn’t on a flight seems to have a year missing of their own life after being deemed missing.
Things get a little weird and dangerous along the way, and not everyone is happy about how things turn out.
It’s pretty interesting and I’m really looking forward to what else they come up with. There’s a few familiar faces that play a part in the show that includes Daryl Edwards, who you may recognize from the first season of Daredevil, Ellen Tamaki who is also in the reboot of Charmed, Athena Karkanis, who’s been in The Expanse and Lost Girl, and Josh Dallas, who one may recall playing Prince Charming in Once Upon a Time, and Fandral in Thor.
It’s a rather good show to get lost in and I definitely recommend giving it a go.
Tumblr media
IV. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
If you don’t have an idea as to what this show is, I don’t know what to say. The title kind of gives it away. It’s the only Marvel Show (as of now since none of the shows in production have come out as of yet) to technically be connected to the MCU itself.
That’s found in one of the main characters, Phil Coulson, who you’d recognize from Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Avengers. Plus, Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) both give a cameo in the show.
The show was rumored to have been set in a different, but similar, timeline to that of the MCU movies, but I don’t know for sure if it’s true or not.
It follows its own set of issues, including a deeper dive into the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., issues with HYDRA, and so on and so forth. The last season, which I honestly cried during, gives such good twists and callbacks to previous seasons and the MCU movies that you can’t help but enjoy how it’s handled.
As a show, it probably has one of the best final seasons possible and I highly recommend giving the full seven seasons a watch if you haven’t already.
Tumblr media
V. Primeval.
Now, if you like dinosaurs, this is a show for you. It’s BBC, so obviously everyone has an accent. It gave a run of five seasons (which is kind of funny because I didn’t realize that until just now writing this as the show is listed as number five on the list) with different episode amounts.
The show centers around anomalies that seem to open up a window to the very distant past of Earth when dinosaurs still roamed the land. It causes a lot of issues, especially if one person has anything to do with it.
It’s pretty interesting and honestly has got some great characters (my personal favorite is Captain Becker, played by Ben Mansfield) and while it can get pretty serious, it’s also pretty entertaining. It’s one of the three shows on this list to get to end on a good-ish note. (AKA, no cliffhangers!)
Obviously, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s kind of the point of this list.
Tumblr media
VI. Terra Nova.
Now, like Primeval, this show technically has to do with dinosaurs. Dinosaurs aren’t the main focus, but they do play a part in this one season (because cancellations) story.
Terra Nova is focused on both the future and the past. In the distant future (2149), the Earth is dying. A group of people, researchers, and military as well as some of their family members, are sent to the past (85 million years) to inhabit Terra Nova, a colony of humans given a second chance to build civilization.
So, obviously, dinosaurs are going to make an appearance now and then. And unfortunately, the show only got one season and ends on a cliffhanger. Which I hate, because I really enjoy this show and wish it had been able to at least get a second season.
Plus, there are some familiar faces amongst the cast. Jason O’Mara, who plays one of the main cast members, played Jeffrey Mace in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Christine Adams, who plays Lynn Pierce in Black Lightning. Allison Miller, who played Sonya in 13 Reasons Why. And Naomi Scott, who is known for her roles in Lemonade Mouth (one of my all-time favorite DCOMs) and Aladdin. And this was just to name a few of the cast members.
Shame it got cancelled, truly, but I recommend giving it a shot.
Tumblr media
VII. MTV’s Scream.
I think you can figure out the basis of this show. While it doesn’t have anything to do directly with the movie franchise, it is kind of similar and a lot of the characters reflect those from the show. Neve Campbell even said that if the show did well, she would be willing to do a cameo.
It revolves (at least the first two seasons as season three is an entirely different set of cast and premise that I refuse to watch because of that) around Emma Duval and her group of friends as they’re picked off one by one by a serial killer going around town. Things get bloody and suspicions arise amongst the crew when things are revealed as the show continues, but things eventually work out in the end.
And personally, I really enjoyed the show even when the second season ended on a cliffhanger. I have theories about that cliffhanger, however, so watch out for a possible post regarding it.
I highly recommend giving it a chance if you haven’t seen it.
Tumblr media
VIII. The Society.
Now, the title doesn’t give you much. A group of teenagers, who were sent off on a trip, suddenly are dropped back off in their town to find it completely empty aside from themselves. They have to form their own society to survive and figure things out.
Once you know that, it makes a little more sense.
It seems really similar to the Pied Piper tale, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to really know for sure. Season 2 had been given a go-ahead, but not too long ago Netflix announced the cancellation of the show.
That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the first season like I do. Plus, if you’re a fan of Supernatural and the character of Claire Novak, Kathryn Newton plays one of the main roles in this show.
It’s a shame the show got cancelled, especially on a cliffhanger, but what can we do?
Tumblr media
IX. The Mysteries of Laura.
Laura Diamond, a Homicide Detective, cracks case after case while trying to raise twin boys and locking horns with her less than helpful Police Detective ex-husband. At least, this is according to IMBD and frankly, it’s not really wrong.
For two seasons, it’s packed with comedy and crime. It’s more of the former, but it still gets pretty serious every now and then, and unfortunately ends on a cliffhanger.
However, some cast members may be familiar. Like Josh Lucas, who voices Home Depot commercials (and trust me, it made my family laugh when we first heard one after watching the show), Laz Alonso who plays MM in The Boys, and Debby Ryan, from Disney Channel.
If you like light-hearted crime shows (like Brooklyn-Nine-Nine) you should definitely give this a watch.
Tumblr media
X. Warrior Nun.
As far as I know, this show has been renewed for a season two. I’m really hoping for it because it’s honestly kind of interesting. You can kind of tell by the title what it may be, but I’ll dive a little deeper.
After waking up in a morgue, Ava, an orphaned teen, discovered she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns. (Taken from IMDB). Interesting, right?
With characters like Shotgun Mary, Sister Beatrice, and Sister Lilith, you know the show’s going to be interesting. But the premise is pretty interesting on it’s own too.
There’s even a character called JC, who apparently has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, but I still like referring to him as such because it’d be pretty funny if that’s how it turns out. Also, someone gets beat up with a whole chicken at some point.
It’s only got the one season so far, but it’s pretty funny and action packed. Like everything on this list, I definitely think you should watch it and find out for yourself if you want to add it to your list if you haven’t already.

Note
my clown persona is hoping that the writers were writing mike and el like that on purpose and are going to subvert the trope, since both have fallen into a shallow relationship type that does not match their true potential. but then again I see how popular the ship is, a big marketing asset that the show can't pass. and the writers have proven that they take under account the preferences of the general viewers. i hope I am wrong 🤷🏻 my clown persona always overrides any logical side in me lmao
This is... a very interesting thought.
I think that, honestly, if they wanted to subvert the trope they probably wouldn’t have put Mike and El together in the first place. If they break up and stay broken up, it’s not really subverting a trope: it’s just them breaking up. But I do hear what you’re saying. I tend to subscribe to other theories around the use of junk food and pop culture in S3 to illustrate that the shallowness was universal and entirely deliberate. I also think it’s a comment on American consumerist culture and the rise of Reaganite capitalism (case in point: Erica’s speech). It’s about advertising and about artifice. I’m sure I’m not the only viewer who watched Erica applaud capitalism while cynically thinking about American race relations and the decrepit, dangerous nature of capitalism in its current form. The point wasn’t necessarily to show that she’s young, but to show how powerful the concept of capitalism was at that time, and how hugely influential it was in forming American exceptionalism and its fierce tenets of democracy and opportunity. It’s easy to forget that the 80s were a melting pot of technology, politics, and changing international culture. Hawkins is a microcosm: not only is it the place where the show is set, but it’s also illustrative of the small, middle-American town that is familiar to the 80s cinematic setting.
In terms of the marketing asset... another interesting point. I didn’t know that the Duffers outright admitted to listening to fans - the only instance I can think of is keeping Steve and El around. If there are more examples I’d like to hear them! I wonder how strongly Mileven features in the mind of your average viewer. Outside fandom spaces (the ST subreddit is a great example) most viewers don’t think or discuss the relationships on the show. They do consume the story in a very shallow way (not always a bad thing - that’s just my perspective). It’s only in fandom spaces like Tumblr (not really Twitter) that more in-depth conversations around canon relationships takes place. I don’t think that Mileven has that much marketing value. It’s not really marketed as a romantic show. In fact, I’d say that the themes of family and friendship are the pillars of the story, and it’s those that are most memorable to the average viewer. The writers have taken a lot of care in showing the different types of families (both functional and dysfunctional) and the importance of friendship (especially in S3, when puberty proves to be a key factor in unsettling the established friendship dynamic).
That being said, I take your point in that it is the easy way out to keep Mileven as endgame. It’s what everyone would expect. If you do actually go on the sub and search for Mike/Will and read the conversation there, most viewers have no idea as to the queer coding, and outright deny it. I’ve only come across a few comments that indicate some viewers interpreted the S3 fight/rain scene as something to do with Will’s feelings of insecurity around his sexuality (potentially). But I don’t think that even if Will and Mike got together the fanbase would revolt. As I said before, most people watch the show because it’s inventive and interesting, and it plays heavily on the 80s nostalgia card, which is already in vogue. No doubt there would be some homophobic rumblings, but, you know, society isn’t as progressive as it’s presented online. Homophobia and sexism is alive and well. We shouldn’t kid ourselves in thinking that Tumblr is reflective of common opinion, because it’s just not. And I say this as someone who survived Teen Wolf and Sterek, okay. Like, I remember Sterek being pushed at cons. It was a time.
And look, if you have a clown persona then so do I! I really enjoy these discussions and reading meta and devouring theories, because that’s just one way to enjoy the media you consume. I do think a lot about the relationship between canon and fanon and how creative works like fics or art fill that sense of yearning. If it means anything at all, I am hopeful for Byler. In fact, I’m more than cautiously optimistic: I am quite confident it will be canon. I do doubt it’ll play out as popular theories will suggest, and I say that because we’re not the writers, and we don’t know what’s in store. But there is enough in the source material to suggest that at the very least Will is gay and has feelings for Mike. I do think that Mike is gay (not bisexual) and reciprocates those feelings. But as we stand, canonically, at the end of S3, we can only take what’s given to us, and that is a Mileven cliffhanger.
Tl;dr: In a story about friendship and family that plays on 80s nostalgia, I don’t think Mileven is as large a marketing drawcard as you might think. I also don’t think that general viewers - like, your Joe Average viewer - necessarily care about the romantic lives of pre-teens and early teenagers when the pull of the story is the supernatural. But I do agree with you in that Mileven was written deliberately in S3, and it’s meant to be contrasted against the pre-romantic relationship Mike has with Will.
