sae itoshi was an evening person. not because he felt most productive then. and not because he enjoyed the peace and quiet of the city. but because he enjoyed his night routines with you right next to him every second. you'd sit on the sink sill as he gently passed a finger with clay on it over your face as you kept talking about your day. "and then when i went to get coffee there were just so many people at the café it was such a hassle. this guy–" "shush. do you want clay in your mouth?" he kept swiping the remaining clay mask on your now stationary chin. once done he lifted you and walked to the sofa. this was no new routine. this was the only way he was able to unwind. with you next to him, just talking about the little, almost meaningless things. "i read somewhere that your coach is having an affair is that true?" you didn't know why you kept instigating him. it was late and you knew if he began talking now he'd only finish once the sun rose or your wake up alarm rang. but seeing him so animated was a rarity so you had to take advantage anytime you could.

now for how he confessed

at first when you confessed he rejected you and didn't think much of it at all

until he started noticing the little things about you, he started obsessing with every bit of you

how you looked, how you dress, how you style your hair

but also how your under eyes crease when you smile

how you're very picky with your food, especially dessert, but you'd eat anything if someone handmade it for you

how you're so patient when you tutor even if the person is being a dumbfuck

after obsessing over everything you did for about a day or two he was sick of the weird, nauseating feeling in his stomach

it had been about three days since the confession. being rejected right on the spot, especially in that cold manner was painful to say the least. but you were sure you had gotten over it. and you hoped with all your heart that he too had forgotten. he had just stood there as you finished telling him how he made you feel and how you had liked him for a while now. he had a horrible scowl on his face, arms crossed and an uninterested posture. you already knew what the answer was when you were done but it hurt so much more when he finally confirmed it all. so it was surprising when you saw sae march up to you as you ate your lunch with your friends. he had the same horrible scowl on his face from before. and you could feel your stomach drop as he pulled your wrist in a gruff manner. careless. he didn't care for you. "itoshi what are you–" he finally stopped once you were in a quiet corner behind the main building, away from curious eyes. "we need to talk." "about what?" "i couldn't sleep." "ok..?" although i do think he is secure about himself and knows you wouldn't ever hurt him

i feel like he does have abandonment issues (a bit)

like imagine going through your teen years without family in a foreign country, you'd feel isolated no matter how many friends you made or how nice your host family was

he tries not giving any external reaction so you barely notice at first but every time he sees you with someone, looking a bit too friendly, he always feels his heart tighten

he's very gentle when kissing you

it's not like he's super strong or anything (mans is tiny)

and it's not that he's scared to hurt you, he just doesn't wanna appear too possessive or anything

favourite places to kiss you: why do i wanna say your waist, also knuckles

no idea why i just feel like if he weren't allowed to kiss your lips for any reason he would kiss there

but he definitely needed you to initiate the physical contact when you first started dating

in Opposing Force, a corpse bearing a striking resemblance to Gina Cross but wearing a red HEV suit can be found in one of the Displacement Cannon locations.

according to a tweet by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford in 2018, it is indeed Gina Cross. Colette Green's fate is unspecified, but he suggests maybe G-Man found her useful enough/had enough compassion for her to put her in stasis like Shephard.

Opposing Force did come out before Decay, so considering that changes were still being made to Decay's story during development, far enough along that there are some voice lines and animations for the scrapped missions, it's likely they had no thoughts about anything that would happen in Decay's story when they decided to include Dr. Cross's dead body as an easter egg in OpFor. so, despite the confirmation by one of the people most likely to be considered An Authority on what happened in the expansions, the canon-icity of this is... slightly debatable? especially considering that (iirc) "Gina Cross's" body can actually be spotted in multiple Displacement Cannon locations in OpFor. so unless there was a wild teleporter accident that created multiple instances of her who all died in different spots... okay, wait, i said that as a hypothetical and a joke but now i like that a lot as a narrative device, fuck.

but you get what i'm saying. whether or not this is "canon" is dubious because you'd have to reconcile a lot of contradictory story elements in order to explain how one can accept this as true.

CHAPTER 7: RECONCILING A LOT OF CONTRADICTORY STORY ELEMENTS IN ORDER TO EXPLAIN HOW ONE CAN ACCEPT THIS AS TRUE

if you choose to take Pitchford's tweet as canon, what's especially strange (and tragic, i'll explain) is that Gina has never been shown wearing a red HEV suit anywhere else as far as i'm aware. she wears an orange suit when you see her hologram in the training program in Half-Life and Opposing Force, and she wears a tan/ivory suit in Decay.

red is Colette's color, which i imagine is probably the source of the initial confusion. which could lead you to conclude that, although this is gina, she's wearing colette's HEV suit. it would explain why she's alone. her suit may have been damaged beyond repair, and it wasn't enough to protect her, so she had to take Colette's as she went off on her own for one last desperate mission that required Gina to enter the Xen even after they and Dr. Keller thought they had successfully sealed the dimensional rift.

so, yeah, picture that. they only had one working suit left. so only one of them could go. and it had to be Cross because of her experience. and even despite their best efforts, despite Green giving up her hazard suit to give Cross the best odds, she still failed.

we know based on the ending of OpFor that the detonation of the nuclear bomb in the car park would have killed anyone still stuck at Black Mesa after a certain point, as Green and Keller almost definitely were if things went back to shit after the end of Decay, which they would have had to if Cross managed to end up dead in Xen. it doesn't make sense to say that they'd then just go "acceptable losses!" and book it, since they took so much responsibility upon themselves throughout Decay's story, so i feel they probably stayed and continued to dedicate themselves to damage control up until the very end. and, like, how would they have known about the bomb? communications were out. probably nobody except Shephard, the black ops team, and that one security guard would have been aware, realistically. so, even if Green and Keller would have wanted to escape and save themselves, there's virtually no way they'd have had enough advance notice to get out of there.

but since Colette's effort was admirable enough for her to deserve a reward in the G-Man's eyes (or maybe just to be kept in reserve in case she's needed later, depending on how you read G's motivations), she, like Shephard, was placed in stasis. and if she ever wakes up again, she'll presumably be without Keller since Pitchford makes no mention of him, and she'll definitely be without Gina.

OR if you don't want to engage with the tragedy of any of this, you can just say that the dead Ginas found in OpFor are uh. y;know. copies of her that were created somehow when she and Colette got caught up in the harmonic reflux after sealing the dimensional rift! which is sad for the clones—and oooky spooky because (mario voice) who REALLY died that day? and who came back??—but otherwise, all three of them got out of Black Mesa together.

I think about them. i think about them a lot. whyyyyy why why why WHY can't dr keller and the half-wifes be from an expansion people have easy access to like blue shit and opposing fart. screams and cries and throws up!!! no actual hate towards Blue Shift or OpFor; i love them, i just wish Decay was also two dollar and on PC

Gina Cross's page on Combine OverWiki was the main source for all my information. i also sourced the screenshot of Cross dead and the scan of Cross and Green's posed render from there. hopefully this post makes people realize that there is interesting shit going on with these characters that is worth exploring.

my final message: dear entire world, include colette green in your drawings of the freezer crew chilling in stasis (nonthreatening suggestion)

(it's ask blogs and im lazy to know the lore but all ik is that sabo and sanji have kids while sanji is in extreme denial abt being gay)

i wanna know how far back sabosan goes... like at leasT 2015 or 2016??? (anime timeline) and maybe 2014 (manga timeline) idk im just guessing bc i dont know what year sabo returned so

on pixiv in the sabosan tag (サボサン) the oldest works on there is from 2015. (i mean when u look up サボサン you get this cactus mascot which is p hilarious)

i theorize that sabosan became recognized because of zou/wci. bc thats when we learn about sanji's history. i notice that it seem to be more recognized by a few fans as early as 2016 (when wci started)

so those big brained individuals were onto something then. they saw two blonde characters that shared similar histories and went. "wait a minute. i can cook something with this"

and you know what sanji's good at? taking any ingredients and making something amazing out of it. thats what early sabosan fans did

there are Very Little content of them/i cant read japanese and i just mostly find the cactus mascot, but they were there. at Least as early as sabo's return. and at that time, fans did not receive sanji's past. they just took these guys like barbie dolls and made them kiss... anyway i need them to meet and i want to see the longtime fans react as theyve waited nearly a decade for that very moment

THEY WERE COOKING BACK IN 2016!!! which... i believe i should now start digging as early as i can. maybe for zou or dressrosa years!! bc certainly, this pairing was actually talked about during 2016-2017. it was wonderful to see!

oh my goodness... i decided to look from start of 2015 to the end, and so far in late 2015, the same user from the above translation, has been talking about them still! they mentioned sabosan fanworks, and how they read a heartbreaking fic⁉️⁉️ i cant tell you how happy i was to read that. sabosan being a thing and having angst works, even if i can't read them. i think my investigation into sabosan history ends here after a long post and hours of searching... unless i somehow find something earlier than april 2014, the earliest moment that sabosan was first talked about was in the year 2014. Q2 2014. back when dressrosa was still ongoing. do you know how insane that is? before wci.

i think we can come to a conclusion that sabosan was a concept as early as 2014 was all becaude of acesan. thats the pattern i noticed. ace/acesan was often mentioned. and i believe it's bc not only are ace and sabo brothers, but bc sabo aimed to eat the mera mera no mi. and if sanji were to meet sabo, sanji would be reminded of his late lover, ace. and the angst potential is so real... sanji looking at sabo... just as a replacement for ace? ouch

i know the fans were having a field day when they learned about sanji's blood family :']

Hmmmm…. At 12:13am this morning I was woken up by a notification from twitter, I wear glasses so I couldn’t make out who the tweet was from but when I put them on I saw that the notification was from Sophia Bush….Iike the actual Sophia Bush blue check and all.

It was a simple tweet-two emojis. It was under a small thread I had tweeted about the recent incident of Jason Beghe yelling a Jesse Lee Soffer on set of Chicago PD, not dissimilar to the ask I answered about the same thing a few days back.

The tweets do not mention Sophia by full name, I used SB to save space and used ‘Sophia’ once - ChicagoPD was the only other thing tagged- there is no way she could’ve found these tweets, even in the likelihood she searched ChicagoPD tag, which she would literally never do. That definitely kept me up for a good couple hours last night, wondering how the hell she found these tweets.

I woke up this morning and I decide to check her feed and found a simple tweet of her expressing her gratefulness for my tweets and their content (I feel confident she was talking abt my tweets just based on the time stamps), she also solved the mystery of how she found my tweets- someone sent them to her….which yeah, makes sense.

I have a big mouth and I am heavily opinionated, its the Aires in me, and the way Sophia has been treated by the ChicagoPD fandom since she left has always been such a problem for me, its been so vile and so misogynistic to see for years women in this fandom dismiss what happened to her just because she left and when she told you why, people not only didn’t like the truth they also chose not to believe it. The fact that this fandom chose a man over her truth, is the problem. The fact that the studio and producers also chose Jason over Sophia is the problem.

For years I have been watching so many women in this fandom dismiss Sophia to praise Jason and the moment Jason raises his voice to Jesse suddenly his actions are awful? Suddenly everything Sophia said has merit? Suddenly you want repercussions for his actions? It just makes me mad and that’s why I sent out those tweets.

I get very little traction on Twitter bc I don’t love it and who really cares? But last night someone did care and she then expressed why she cared and it was because of something honest I said but also something I so strongly believed. My tweets will not go viral, I am not even going to publicly acknowledge her response tweet with a response of my own, I just reposted and commented with the same emojis she threw my way.

I do not know why I wrote any of this - I guess maybe to acknowledge that celebrities are human beings too and the stuff we say about them has repercussions and potential to hurt them. That as nameless faceless people on the internet we take dramatic and unhealthy privileged approaches to how we treat celebrities and the reality is, we’re tweeting in a public space where everyone can read what we say and being a asshole online that only gets a few likes or retweets, who never goes viral…still makes you a nameless faceless asshole on the internet.

I dunno…thanks Sophia and also sorry that women are awful to you and a job you loved so much was so quickly ruined by a system that seems to only protect men but hardly ever women even after their proof is verified, publicly, and still no real repercussions are laid for him but they’ll never stop being laid for you…

i was basically anti when i got into fandom cuz i was way young and stupid,it wasnt until 2020 that i realized i was BEING stupid abt restricting myself 💀 i found out abt profic bc a tweet from a profic gimmick account was recommended to me, SO GLAD IT WAS i shudder to think that id basically be guilt tripping myself for forever hadnt that tweet showed up when it did 😭

i was an anti, got dragged into a group of super toxic antis amd lost really close and dear friends, it opened my eyes to see that my behavior was unacceptable and i regret it to this day, i've learned not to judge people so easily and to control my anger issues

Unfortunately mine was when the leopards started eating my face with the jjba ship giomis, then I kinda realized that I was miserable in anti spaces. I’m much happier now :)

I was dogpilled on my diff acc and called "pedo" for saying there should be no big censhorship (as long we are talking about fiction) on AO3 and for shipping otayuri five years prior to the incident. Prior to that I didn't even know that there was smthg like anti/pro divide. Since then I am just staying away from people who are openly antis and I am not posting much anywhere, mainly just lurking.

While not full blown anti i was on that mind set years ago back when i was into she ra. However between a friend explaining things and me seeing jusy how awful antis are i realized what i was doing was wrong and ive never looked back.

Being a CSA victim and harbouring a lot of internalised guilt for reading profiction and imagining myself in that position myself and then just realising hating myself for enjoying that stuff was stupid

I discovered incest shotac0n when I was 13 and fought it for many MANY years. Felt disgusted with myself until Finally told a therapist about it and she was like, "why? Let yourself explore that. It's fictional. Nobody is being hurt" and it just felt so..... freeing.

Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian (MDZS/The Untamed): This is my longest-held ship (also shamelessly plugging my sideblog) and not to be dramatic but I will never get over them!!! this is canonically backed because he has lines about it but he sleeps in weird intervals!! he pretty much goes until he can't, then power naps n gets right back to it. conking at his desk for like 2hrs, then getting back to paperwork. getting back from the prison and sleeping for 18hrs. leaving in the middle of convos to go nap at the needle for 30mins then rushing somewhere else. whags going on. i also think he can be hard to wake up? for such a paranoid guy. smtimes he has to set like 40 alarms to give his eepy ass half a chance at being resuscitated.

oh this guy is so sososo so rage it's eating him alive. like he's always had issues with being more snippy and argumentative and short fused that he ought to be, and lnv and everything surrounding makes it a million times worse. he can still joke around but he'll be a little too cruel with his jokes and snarky and he snaps at people and his patience evaporates. and i think he tries to control it too! in this weird way, especially when he's infront of people. yk wanting that professional img and maybe hating that he's like that also as well. so he swallows it down and goes home and tears apart rooms and rips at his hair n head and scratches and snarls and bites back screaming like an animal. meltdown style‼️and if that doesn't work why not get another use out of the prison lol. ok look i have a lot of thoughts abt the way i see lesbians discussed in the marauders fandom BUT for tonight the thoughts that have been toppling like dominoes in my head are mostly centered around this idea of "representation" bc like. ok. scrolling back up here and putting a cut halfway through writing this bc it got long (of course. once again. i need to just accept that i am incapable of being concise at this point).

so i talked abt this a while back somewhere on my silly little tumblr blog and i'm gonna refrain from getting too deep into it rn but just generally just like overall i've noticed this like...specific tone in which people discuss wlw marauders fanfic as though writing about lesbian couples (as opposed to writing about gay couples) holds some sort of like...inherent moral worth? like people will say "ugh we need more lesbian fanfic!!" and like shout about how there is so little wlw fic because of sexism as though tweeting repeatedly about how you just wish there were more good lesbian fics but the only good fics out there are about men because of sexism is like...activism. which. ok. already talked about it NOT getting into it tonight just. the point i'm trying to make here is that i see this general attitude in the marauders fandom where people act like writing lesbian fanfiction is Inherently Morally Superior.

and like. usually when i see those takes i just kinda roll my eyes and move on, because like...i know the people spreading that rhetoric are well-intentioned, and at the end of the day it's fanfiction, it's not that serious, etc. etc. BUT i have sort of...started to notice that attitude bleeding over into some of the responses i've gotten to my writing, mainly from people who say stuff along the lines of, "thank you so much for providing lesbian/sapphic/wlw representation". and those responses have always sort of made me pause and scrunch my nose and go huh. like...you're....welcome? i guess?

and i wanna clarify here--i'm not, like, upset about people saying that to me, and in fact i'm grateful for the kind words, because i understand that the intention behind them is to say "your writing connected with me; i saw pieces of my own experience in your writing; thank you for sharing something that resonated with me in that way." y'know?

but representation. i'm stuck on the word "representation." and it always makes me pause because it's just like. i'm not netflix? y'know? like i didn't write my stories to...represent anyone? i'm just. a lesbian. writing about lesbians. and sometimes not writing about lesbians. y'know?

and the thing that clicked for me tonight about why i think this kind of response throws me off a little is that it's centering an audience. like...i kind of think that conversations about representation are inherently tied to a consumer economy, because they operate on the assumption that the art you're engaging with has been created for an audience--an audience that wants to see themselves in it, meaning there are standards for representation that you should expect and critique. and i think any time the purpose of art starts to orbit around an audience, it starts to sort of...become a product.

and that throws me off! because i'm not writing fanfiction for an audience. i'm not writing it for anyone, really, except myself. in fact, if i find myself thinking too much about my ~readers~, i purposely take a step back and force myself to re-evaluate what i'm writing and why i'm writing it. because for me, the value in writing fanfiction comes from just the simple joy of creating a story that i want to create, and then being able to read that story back to myself. and i only ever started posting on ao3 because i figured "might as well, maybe someone else'll get a kick out of this." and while i value the community that i've found through sharing my writing, that doesn't mean that i want an audience. i've talked about the difference between those two things a lot on this blog, so hopefully u guys get what i mean by that if you've been hanging around my blog for a minute.

anyway, i honestly think this is just like...a perfect example of the insidious ways in which fanfiction getting sucked further and further into a consumer economy alters the ways we engage with it, without even realizing. because like i said, i understand the intention behind the words "thank you for providing representation"--the intention is to say "i connected with this; thank you for sharing something where i could see myself." but if we're growing more and more used to only engaging with media and art through the framework of creator/audience, then we miss out on emphasizing that connection, and instead we end up thanking each other in a way that feels almost transactional, as though we've been provided a service. like...yeah. i've connected the dots. i think that's it.

anyway at the end of the day it's just like...it doesn't really make sense to me to act as though there is some moral obligation or necessity to call for specific types of representations in fanfiction. if there's a story you want to write, you can write it. that's what fanfiction is. but i think a lot of this rhetoric that sort of moralizes the act of Writing About Lesbians runs the risk of insidiously tying fanfiction into a consumer economy, simply because it's engaging with fanfiction as though it's like...content or a product, y'know? and that makes me wary. so. yeah. that's one of the things i've been Pondering tonight i suppose!

Of course I've always wanted to hear and see more from Jimin but I've never really considered a solo album until now. And when I think about what he could do... My mind goes blank. Blank because I think he can do almost anything😭 I seriously don't know what to expect.

So, yes I have to say that bias aside, Jimin's project is the one I'm most excited about, for one specific reason: the element of surprise. All of the songs he's put out so far, which yeah are barely a few, but they're all so different from each other. No song is similar to the other, not even in theme. He doesn't even write about one thing in particular. It's exciting. I think it's good for artists to have like a trademark sound that people can listen to and say "oh, this is **** song", but I think Jimin's trademark element is his voice. It's different and recognizable.

I wanted to talk about how his verses sound different in every song in BE, I remember there was a compilation out there somewhere on twitter but I couldn't find it. I found this tweet tho lmao 😭

I would also love to listen to him in an R&B track. Also listen to him singing in his lower range, the way he did in the first BTS albums. As I'm typing this I can't stop thinking about love is not over. It would be amazing if he could bring back some of that. I actually think he might do it.

(I had to listen to it and why did JK voice sound more mature in this song than now? T_T) ((I also can't believe that fans, knowing the music they used to do, thought butter and ptd and even yet to come were things BTS geniunely wanted to do and were happy about... c'mon now... the way the fandom chose to be blind to all of it)).

i want to talk for a second about the re:dream situation that happened this past week, mostly because i'm interested in figuring out my thoughts abt it and I just wanna put them somewhere so I can move on and go back to playing animal crossing in peace

i want to start by saying that i would consider myself just a fan of dream's content, i think both the dsmp and the manhunt series are really cool, and I've been following him for over two years now, but I'm no way super involved in him like other people are, or how i would be involved in the bts fandom. however i do sometimes read up on what's going on on twitter and outside of it to make sure that no one i follow has actually been an absolute arsehole the whole time i was consuming their content, so i am aware of the various situations dream has been in, and i have listened to all sides of the stories always trying to understand what was going on and what was my stance on it.

for me personally, this is nothing new. when i was way more involved in k-pop and bts, a new drama would pop up at least 1.5 times a week, and while sometimes it was based on something that would actually require attention and would be followed by consequences, most times it was the result of people being bored online and finding dopamine out of stirring up things that would bring absolute chaos on the platform for a couple of days.

rinse and repeat.

when i found myself in the mcyt fandom, nothing was much different from what I was used to already after years of being in fandom spaces online, except this time the global approach to certain situations seemed a little odd to what I was used to. i kind of dismiss it to it just being caused by the fact that the vast majority of the mcyt fandom is made up by us citizens, which would absolutely influence the way certain things are understood and contextualised. i wouldn't say I generally agree with the way the common approach is, but I understand where it comes from and why it is the way it is, so I generally stay out of it.

also, i was kind of new to the content creators I was getting into, so if any drama would pop up, I would just follow along and dig for sources, think about it and read people's opinions about it and about them. i immediately understood the role that both "that part of the fandom" and "the antis" had in this fandom specifically (dsmp), and once I got the dynamic down, I thought that all the fans would agree whenever these situations would come up, mostly because I had the same experience as an ARMY, and it wasn't any news to me the existence of these people.

what i had not understood yet was the fact that the combination of these factors- namely the americentric way of thinking, the average age of the fandom and the anti-fandom, the assumed lack of fandom experience of these people- would absolutely be a recipe for disaster and constant online discord even in spaces that share the same apparent views and likes.

these past few days have absolutely proven this correct in my opinion.

if i'm not mistaken, the latest Dream Situation started with a reply to Ant's tweet. a joke at the expense of who I believe is a homophobic american tv personality, who's also become kind of a meme for the absolute bullshit he spews (I know, I've seen the videos). this was immediately followed by the -either purposeful or not- misconstruct of dream's joke– I can't say if this was because of simple lack of reading comprehension or context on their part, or more because some people will find any excuse to throw dirt on people they don't like.

dream then replied to some of these people, and some were after his latest tweet about his experience with his own sexuality, and it appeared that one of them decided to private a few minutes after, saying that they feared they were going to be doxxed since dream replied to them and that they didn't feel safe because of it.

i think this is where there was a split between the fandom and anti-fandom understanding of context and dream's very own.

i saw as my twitter mutuals and fans and antis alike would retweet tweets of people accusing dream of allegedly sending "his army of 13-years-olds" to doxx and harrass and endanger this poor person and "every person that simply criticised" him, all the while seeing dream talking about how seeing people "cower" in their freshly privated account after he'd exposed their stupidity gave him some sort of dumb internet pleasure.

my god. what the fuck is happening.

i think at this point i was severely annoyed at the usual accusation where dream would somehow have any control over the assholes that follow him that decide that doxxing people is the way to go, but the thing that was making me confused the most was the fact that even fans were now saying that it was somehow dream's responsibility.

i think i have never seen the opinion of "if you know people are going to get doxxed, you shouldn't draw attention to them" shared more. what? i thought I was lucid dreaming. as far as I was aware, nobody had been doxxed. people were yelling and shouting but absolutely nothing had happened, except for this person privating in fear and people saying dream bad dream evil for it.

but the thing that got me the most is that somehow I was supposed to feel bad for this random person who had decided that being a homophobic dickhead was the way to go. people were painting it as if this person had simply and out of the goodness of their heart criticised dream for whatever-the-fuck, and instead of being rational about it, dream had decided to insult them and call his army of toxic fans to endanger them.

the tweets i saw as they were happening were telling a completely different story. this was a random person who decided to feel enlightened by calling dream a homophobe, somehow trying to paint it as if dream was faking a coming out to hide the fact that he was a homophobe (what homophobe would do that tf?), and then dream replied to it calling it absolute bullshit.

head in hands. this is so stupid. this is the internet. talk shit get hit, anyone?

genuinely after years being online it feels like the compass is completely skewed in the mcyt area of the fandom ecosystem. like why.

of course this isn't to say that this person or anyone could ever deserve to get doxxed or endangered in any way, but it is NOT news that this is a big danger of the internet, especially if you're American and/or you are not careful about the personal information about yourself you put online. this to say that it's not dream's fault if some people are so keen on committing crimes just because they like the rush it gives them. people have gotten doxxed for the dumbest shit online– hell, dream got doxxed because he plays Minecraft and he's cool at it, if that's not a dumb fucking reason I don't know what would be.

i've seen a lot of people say that the best course of action dream could take would be to stop replying to "the haters", but as dream himself has pointed out, people get doxxed even when dream replies to them for something positive. would the answer then become for dream to not answer to anyone? sure! I'm sure that would absolutely transform that number of people that get doxxed for replying to dream in a negative way from 1 to 0.

but that would be more of a loss for dream's engagement with his own fans than a win for them. I'm sure it would be an absolute win for people that want dream to shut the fuck up, but the thing is– it's never been about them.

i digress. the reality is that no one got doxxed, and the "omg I'm privating bc dream insulted me and now I'm being sent death threats and I'm sure I will be doxxed" is the most common response for people that get called the fuck out for their bullshit, no matter the fandom.

i don't feel bad for people that talk shit and then get sent insults by dumb teenagers that have nothing better to do. if that's the extent of it, literally turn off your phone. it is that easy. like everyone's been saying, there are consequences to saying dumb shit online, and that includes people that have 60 followers at best, not only big content creators.

to add to this, content creators are human too, and they have all the right to defend themselves online if someone says some bullshit. especially if said bullshit is homophobic.

on the topic of "content creators are human too", I think a lot of people don't like dream because of his adhd. i remember talking about this with a fellow adhd friend of mine, as we realised that two of the content creators that get shit on the most have adhd, and part of the harsh criticism they face is always because of their adhd symptoms.

of course dream is impulsive, of course he's not good with words and communicating, the kid's got bees for brains. that doesn't excuse some dumb shit he's said and done in the past, but I'm not going to demonize him for it. like he's a 20 something year old with a Minecraft hyperfixation and no pr team, why do some people expect him to handle these situation like he's a corporation? he's a youtuber tf.

not only that, but he has apologised countless times and he has said that he knows he's not flawless, he's willing to learn and listen to legit criticism. he's shown he can do that, and he has also shown that he can differentiate well-meaning criticism from flat out dumbassery some people throw this way, which I have recently learnt is a skill not everyone seems to be blessed with.

i genuinely do not understand what fans and antis want from him. I've seen people deem his latest apology "stupid and just not enough", and I'm slightly stumped. he acknowledged his past mistakes countless times, he has explained why they're wrong and how he's grown and how he's planning to grow, what else is he supposed to do?

this is not to say that everyone that genuinely felt awful for the offensive edit he's done should accept his apology- that's for them to do if they feel like it. this is mostly just me wondering what then is considered "a good enough apology" in the eyes of the people that are saying that it is not good enough and that it is full of excuses.

i think i have a lot more to say and express and a lot more i have not mentioned, but i've been writing this for an hour and genuinely i have better things to do than keep on hyperfocusing on this situation and why i think it's stupid. i think i'm upset because i can see the bastardization of everything that has happened and that has been said just creating this weird rift even between people i thought liked dream as well, or so they said, that i considered having a good brain.

background knowledge: our man shakespeare wrote some 120 sonnets about a young man referred to as the Fair Youth during the mid 1590s; there has been some debate among shakespeare enthusiasts whether shakespeare’s interest in the Fair Youth was platonic or romantic (but like. they were definitely romantic). no one knows for sure who the Fair Youth was, but it was definitely nicky and my first and most important piece of evidence regarding this hypothesis is the ‘lmao babe do you remember that guy who had a crush on me?’/ ‘i try not to remember the guy who had a crush on you’ look joe and nicky exchange when Merrick brings up shakespeare during the movie. especially since gina confirmed in a tweet that joe and nicky canonly did know shakespeare

my second piece of evidence is that it just Works (except for a couple small facts like.. the Fair Youth was prolly closer to his 20s than his 30s. and the fact that shakespeare implies that the Fair Youth slept with his mistress at one point. but he doesnt know what hes talking about shhh we IGNORE)

when describing the Fair Youth (who I’ll call the FY from now on), shakespeare says he has a ‘gold complexion’ and ‘beautiful eyes’ and compares him to a ‘summer’s day’. He says the FY has “A woman’s gentle heart" and “An eye more bright than [women’s are], (...) Gilding the object whereupon [they] gazeth”

As much as shakespeare’s perceptions of sexuality and gender are very........ late 1500′s (whoo boy sonnet #20 is a wild ride) ...... the description does match, and also:

B. The Fair Youth Refused to Get Married

it’s never really said why one way or another (shakespeare assumes it’s because the FY is selfish) but the FY didn’t/wouldn’t take on a wife and have a kid, and this was something that was a real sticker for our man Willy S. because, as he says in his sonnets a million times: beauty doesn’t last forever, but having a child not only passes down the FY’s beauty, but also blesses the woman the FY would have a child with (im not saying shakespeare wanted to bear the FY’s children, but he definitely did)

Whose fresh repair if now thou not renewest, Thou dost beguile the world, unbless some mother. For where is she so fair whose uneared womb Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?

(ie. If you don’t renew yourself/ have children, you deprive the world and deprive a woman from having your child, since what woman out there is so beautiful that she wouldn’t want to bear your child?)

Like.

1.) if nicky is the FY then so many of these poems center around the idea of nicky growing old sometime soon and that must have been pretty funny to Nicky and

2.) the fact that shakespeare would have been So Desperate for nicky to find a wife must have been the opposite of funny to joe. considering the ease of his and nicky’s relationship and the fact that being gay in late 1500s england was probably not a walk in the park, it is very likely shakespeare wouldn’t have known they were in a committed relationship-- or at least not known how close they actually were. Thus:

shakespeare mentions having a poetic rival in regards to the FY in several sonnets. In sonnet #21 he talks about how he’s not like Those Other Writers who use grand metaphors to talk about their muses

(ie. I’m not like other poets who, when inspired by a ‘painted beauty’ use heaven and every other beautiful thing on the planet to make a grand comparison to their muse: he specifically lists the sun and moon as examples as well as other beautiful things)

He then goes on to say

And then believe me, my love is as fair As any mother's child, though not so bright As those gold candles fixed in heaven's air:

(ie. my love [the FY] is as beautiful as any other beautiful person, though I wouldn’t compare them to the stars/heavens (which is what he means by the 'gold candles’. those are stars.))

So shakespeare insults poets who compare their subjects to the sun, moon, and stars (amongst other things) and in the comics, Joe does literally exactly that

That man is the stars in my sky, and the sun that lights my days. That man is the moon when I'm lost in darkness, and warmth when I shiver in cold.

shakespeare also goes on to say in the same sonnet “Let them say more that like of hearsay well / I will not praise that purpose not to sell” which is to say ‘let people who like that kind of language use it, I wont because I don’t want anyone else to have the subject of my affections (the FY)’.

(which is a bit of a contradiction regarding his feelings abt the FY getting married, but these sonnets are full of contradictions. shakespeare was a confused dude; man spent the first 100 or so sonnets convinced the FY loved him back only for him to start wondering if the FY ever loved him near the end)

(not to mention Marriage For Love wasnt really.. much of a thing in Ye Olden Times but thats a different conversation. so shakespeare prolly didnt associate marriage with love/competition? anyways)

Shakesy-boo goes on to complain about this rival several times. In #79, he says

Yet what of thee thy poet doth invent He robs thee of, and pays it thee again. He lends thee virtue, and he stole that word From thy behaviour; beauty doth he give, And found it in thy cheek: he can afford No praise to thee, but what in thee doth live.

(ie. everything ‘your poet’ (as the FY apparently favored this unnamed rival) says about you, he takes it from you in the first place. he talks about your virtue, but learned the word from watching your behavior. he calls you beautiful but only discovered beauty by looking at your face. every compliment he gives you he took from you in the first place)

[and, as a smaller example, he also bemoans the fact that people want to paint the FY in #67, saying, “Why should false painting imitate his cheek, / And steal dead seeming of his living hue?”. and yknow. Joe’s an artist.]

And then another example in #86

Was it the proud full sail of [the rival’s] great verse, Bound for the prize of all too precious you, That did my ripe thoughts in my brain inhearse, Making their tomb the womb wherein they grew?

Was it his spirit, by spirits taught to write Above a mortal pitch, that struck me dead?

(ie. he’s talking about how he’s having difficulty writing abt the FY and is rhetorically asking if ‘the proud sail’ of the rival’s verses was the reason his ‘ripe thoughts’ were killed in their ‘womb’. He then asks (again rhetorically) if it was the rival’s ‘spirit’ (or creativity, maybe) ‘’’‘by spirits taught to write’’’’ that killed his own drive to write. none of the analyses I’ve read really explain what shakespeare means by ‘spirits taught to write’, other than maybe being a joke or reference to something we dont know, but... ‘taught by dead people to write in a way mortal people can’t’ very much sounds like a description of an immortal poet, eh?)

Which brings me to,

D. Willy Boy Thinks There Are 500 Year Old Writings About the Fair Youth

shakespeare talks about people having written about the FY ‘500 years ago’ from the late 1500s in #59 which......................... would have been around 1100 AD. :thinking face:

Oh that record could with a backward look, Even of five hundred courses of the sun, Show me your image in some antique book, Since mind at first in character was done, That I might see what the old world could say To this composed wonder of your frame;

(ie. Oh if I could look back 500 years and see how you were described in some old books so I could see/reference what people used to write about you)

Which again brings me to,

E. I’m Not Saying shakespeare Stole From Joe, But:

1.) In #22, shakespeare says this,

For all that beauty that doth cover thee, Is but the seemly raiment of my heart, Which in thy breast doth live, as thine in me:

(ie, your beauty is due to the ‘clothes’ my heart gives you-- probably means something like ‘you’re beautiful because i love you’. goes on to say his heart lives in the FY’s chest, and the FY’s heart lives in shakespeare’s chest)

so: shakespeare tells the FY he has shakespeare’s heart. in comparison, Joe calls nicky ‘my heart’ in the comics...... :thinking face x2:

2.) In #109, shakespeare tells the FY ‘thou art my all’,

For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all.

which rings similar to Joe’s ‘he’s all and he’s more’ as well as (from the comics) ‘he is my everything’

and just saying. joe looks pretty #done the mention of shakespeare.

F. The last One

Despite shakespeare writing 30+ poems about the FY eventually growing old, the very last poem he writes about/for the FY says,

O thou, my lovely boy, who in thy power Dost hold Time's fickle glass, his sickle hour; Who hast by waning grown, and therein showest Thy lovers withering, as thy sweet self growest.

(ie. you [the FY] have power over the ‘mirror’ (fickle glass) of time as well as time’s ‘harvesting’ ability (sickle hour) and as you grow older, you remain beautiful while your lovers [shakespeare] wither and grow old)

The transition from ‘get married and have a baby before you get old!!!!’ in #1-20 to talking about the FY’s presence in 500 y/o books in #59 to admitting the FY isn’t growing old in #126 kinda seems to imply shakespeare learning of/about nicky’s immortality at some point, and this last poem is him accepting it.

TLDR: not only does it make perfect sense if nicky was the Fair Youth from the FY sonnets, but it also makes perfect sense if joe was the Rival from the FY sonnets. its canon nothing will convince me otherwise

Yo i have a question, how do you feel steve and bucky are about social media. bc like i think steve doesnt like to use it and mostly just like, reads long articles about literally everything and watches video essays while bucky has a wildly popular instagram account that somehow hasnt gotten banned even tho all he posts is shitty blurry blair-witch-found-footage pics and half the captions are like, unashamedly explicitly talking abt how he got it Good™ last night and the like

like imo bucky was coming back to himself at such a time that hed have absolutely developed a gen z type sense of humor and idea of how to use social media so his pics are like, him floating facedown in a public fountain or a huge pyramid made out of pink monster energy cans or a super blurry shot of him and steve smoking weed in their kitchen that was taken While bucky's phone was falling out of his hand

Steve is definitely the type that loathes social media (samesies Stevie) and for a while he only had a twitter because the others bullied him into it. At first SHIELD was adamant that he let a PR manager take care of it, but he works out a little while later that they’re liking things and saying things in his name without telling him because they think he won’t understand how to use twitter so he won’t find out. He promptly demands the PR manager be fired and continues to use twitter himself without oversight to retweet and promo cool stuff (like up and coming artists and fundraisers and miscellaneous fun facts) and post passive-aggressive tweets about politics and modern things he doesn’t like like itchy nylon exercise clothes and no cocaine in coke anymore (he got a stern talking to from Fury after that one and sheepishly retweeted a cheesy Say No To Drugs campaign post afterwards).

After Bucky got back and they settled down though his twitter feed became mostly domestic tweets of him and his hubby and the besties being sappy together, along with silly ones like “my darling husband put an empty milk carton back in the fridge, gonna go commit a war crime brb <3”

(Also Steve’s page is like 60% Sam appreciation at this point, tons of pictures of Sam in his Captain America outfit with a bunch of 😍🥰🤩❤🤍💙 emojis and #ThatsMyCaptain)

As for Bucky! He was wary of social media at first (because 'who wants to hear from me, everyone hates me, i'm the winter soldier') until Steve showed him all the posts in the trending tag #JusticeForJBB (let's imagine this is in a post-catws universe where footage of what Hydra put the Winter Soldier through in between missions got leaked on the internet and everyone very quickly changed their tune about Bucky being the Winter Soldier), so he tentatively signed up for it.

At first he signs up for twitter and uses it to comment "🐙🐙🐙" in the comments of several politician’s posts. They all get investigated and found guilty of working with Hydra. But after a while he gets bored of Twitter and switches to Instagram.

Thing is, I imagine Bucky is quite quick with the basics of technology - he picks up how to use computers and phones fairly easily. But he is far from capable of any finesse when using them, and I don’t think he'd pick up online gen z culture/humour himself but he would absolutely completely accidentally radiate gen z humour energy. LIke, he has no idea why all these kids find his blurry posts and captions so funny, but he's just happy to be here.

Also he’s completely oblivious to his own levels of impropriety on public online spaces. Like, his first picture was a picture of Steve looking conked the fuck out with bed hair and a dopey smile on his face CLEARLY taken after they'd had sex with the caption "fuck america, if you know what i mean"

Steve makes an Instagram account originally just to like all of Bucky's posts, but he ends up making a secret account where he posts a few pictures of his artwork as well 🥰🥰🥰

About the Cover Songs Track List

Okay so it dropped while I was sleeping and then I randomly woke up at 5am a few hours after it had dropped and read through the tag, everyone's reactions and saw the list. And I was way too tired to unpack and post abt it so I slept on it. This morning I had a DC watch party with some friends and put it in the back of my mind, but now I've had a few hours to sit with it to collect my thoughts and I just wanted to put this out there as a way to amplify my voice and similar opinions made by other Desi fans as a Desi/Indian fans of the show and also kinda explain why I feel this way about the track list.

Let me preface this by saying I actually adore it on a whole. At first, I was surprised we haven't gotten more covers of songs made in the last two years - my personal wish for the cover track list was to cover ivy by Taylor Swift (from her evermore album) and enough for you by Olivia Rodrigo (yall its SUCH a Kate song for her insecurities)

But ultimately listening to them; I do get dark and angsty Kathony vibes so no complaints about the songs here. However, I do have to say while the K3G (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) fits the vibes it does stick out like a sore thumb on the tracklist as being the only Indian song on it at the moment.

I also have just found out that this was only a partial track list dropped so I am hoping there will be more Desi songs and a personal fave Taylor Swift because there is a lot of TS songs that can be applied to Kathony imo.

But in case there are no other Indian songs in the tracklist when the full one comes out - I do have to comment on this tweet:

He clearly took every opportunity to weave TOO much of their heritage into this season because see: The Mess That Is The India Plot. Sometimes less is more Chris and now I feel like the track list is a half hearted attempt to weave in their music into the soundtrack if they are only using K3G. I'll curb my criticisms if they do have other Desi songs but I just wish they had looked into Kollywood/Tamil songs for the soundtrack because the Sharmas while their last name is North Indian and Punjabi, ethnically the actresses and by extension the characters are not! They are all Tamil women. That's my main comment on having K3G as the only Indian song on the tracklist at the moment. Of course, when the full soundtrack comes out, I'll happily eat my words if I'm wrong and we do get a good mix of English and Tamil/Hindi songs.

Also one last point, I do hope that Kris Bowers got help from Desi artists and composers for S2's original score because if they are really committed to showcasing the Sharma's Indian heritage, it should be reflected in the music because music is HUGE in our culture and it would just be nice to hear Indian influences in the S2 score. I dunno if it was even possible to happen but a wish of mine was for Kris to work with Siddhartha Khosla who does the score for the tv series This Is Us which is a pretty white show but even my mom loved his scores for the show because you can clearly tell he had roots with Indian classic music and it showed in his composition for This Is Us which was really cool! I really hope the hidden tracks are hopefully contributed by Desi artists because that would be a nice way to support us and our culture not just on screen but behind the scenes. (Because let's be real 3 make up artists and one writer being Indian on the whole team behind the camera is NOT it)

The public twitter meltdown was really unprofessional so. Like you have Jensen's number J*red. You could have sorted that out in private like a normal person, but instead you choose to act like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

Is it weird that I'm actually going to be kinda that for them if the actually had a falling out, even tho I don't like J*red all that much.
