Heyo! I saw we're doing some show and tell stuff, so I thought I'd share my beginning collection of the Miku Revolution LOL (ignore the awkward placement I have them in, it's a temporary setting until I find a better place for them all 😭)

It's not much, but I'm super happy with what I've gotten so far! The Sakura Miku 2020 is my most recent and I absolutely love how she looks; the pose is wonderful and she makes this year's spring even brighter! (she unfortunately has a small open gap under her arm, but it's not noticeable from afar, thankfully 😔)

I have the original Funko Pop Figure of Miku and Rin that I got years ago, but they're packed away at the moment lol

My next goal is to get the Colorful Stage Street Miku and maybe her Nightcord one, too! But anyway, sorry for all the rambling, wishing you and everyone the best with collecting and have a great weekend! 💚💚💚

In my previous post i talked about how I have a lotta scrapped MV ideas, well may as well dump some designs i've made based on songs over the years because like I probably wouldn't post these otherwize

also heres a few nice picture of miku from one of em to make you click on this post because its gunna be a long one and all these are hidden below a read more

for the record don't expect me to do anything with any of these, also these are from old to new some of these date back to early 2022 and it shows

This one i posted a storyboard for actually its An Aliens I Love You by Utsu-P.

I gave young Rin a sakura motif with her dress because of miku and rin meeting under a sakura tree, teen miku has a pink ribbion and hairclip to continue this. both rins bow and mikus outfit get darker outfits overtime to sybolize the song getting darker. I also gave adult rin the future rin hair. Miku's "alien" form is more or less how its described in the song tho i was lazy and didn't draw the 4 arms in the refs.

also Lily is Rins mom in this yup there she is indeed.

I actually have a lot of assets finished including the ones above i may show em off one day who knows.

the grey one is when they talk about being colorless

i gave them both very cute and elegent outfits i think it matches the vibe of the song. The starry outfits are the real highlight. if you wonder how I drew em over and over i just copy pasted the stars on their dresses.

they also are very blue because yknow nocturne. I forgot if i dumped the assets for this MV or not maybe next rant post.

This one is Corona by Utsu-P no idea why i did it its probably not even in my top 20 Utsu-P songs i just had some brainworms that wore off. I finished like a minute of it I guess.

I really like rin's outfit. "goth metal astronaut" is such a weirdly specific concept but she absolutley nailed it. 10/10 desin

This one is Garando by Picon. I gave her a like idk what to call it paperboy outfit like the one you see in the MV a few times. her eyes are yellow like bullets because I had this one S teir visual idea. I have some assets for this one i may show off one day.

This one is NEXT NEST by Satsuki Ga Tenkomori. The cubes are from the original MV image thing. I gave her a super cybernetic look to match the song vibe. I also gave her a plaid skirt to match miku's concept desin because this song is like sorta miku becoming sentient or smth idk been a while since i read the lyrics.

This one is Bluff Liar by EZFG. VY1 doesn't really have a desin so I went with this based on the semi official one (we dont speak of her new official one also i drew this long before that regardless lol) I have a shitty animatic thats 80% stick figures for this. never posted it tho.

tbh i put the file to this ref on an external hard drive cuz this whole video killed my storage because i actually finished it so i yeeted all th assets off my computer as soon as i was finished so i just dowloaded the little thing of assets from this post

Kimono Miku 🌸🌸

I really love the ways kimonos mix patterns and I wanted to do something with all the beautiful sakura print origami papers I own- I think she turned out really cute! I have so much more elaborate chiyogami paper and I’d love to do more Vocaloids!

I was sooo inspired by Miku Day (3/9) here at Tumblr with so much beautiful art and even though I missed the date, I figured I'd miku miku anyway. Most depictions of her that I saw were in her default, VOCALOID2, iconic outfit. Decided to give Piapro's NT some love!

Also, scratch whatever I said about POSCA being better than alcohol-based markers in my last post. It's just all so experimental to me right now, I should have foreseen what great use alcohol markers shall have to me in my future POSCA drawings! They make for the perfect shading tool, being kinda transparent and all. Blending with POSCAs is a no-no, and shading with them is blocky, black-and-white-- which is actually good for cel shaded illustration, just not what I was looking for.

Now I can't imagine my traditional art without either of them. :)

I had no idea what was going to come out of this. It's not perfect, but since I had no expectations, it ended up pretty satisfying!

Thanks Pelikan and Sinoart for... existing, really, and commercializing the glass pen and pink ink. I love them. I used them to give the drawing a final touch, and Miku seems to have enjoyed it! I'm brand, fresh new in the world of fountain pens.

Summary:

This series takes place after the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Serufu and her childhood friend Miku/“Purin” both applied to an elite school, where advanced technologies are incorporated into the curriculum. The tech-savvy Purin is accepted into the school, but accident-prone Serufu is rejected and enters a traditional school instead, driving a wedge into their friendship.

On her way to class one day, Serufu encounters Rei, who has a passion for old-fashioned crafts and is the head of the school’s Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Club—which is in danger of closing due to a lack of members. Realizing that this may be her chance to repair her relationship with Purin, Serufu joins the club in hopes of creating projects that could bring them together once more.

Propaganda:

It’s just a really feel-good series with some great characters. I adore all of them and their dynamics with each other, especially the main dynamic between Serufu and Purin as it develops. I’m a really big fan of the show’s angle on stuff such as do-it-yourself crafts following another industrial revolution, just because it does frequently bring up the question of “What’s the point of DIY if in a year or two/maybe even now a robot could recreate the exact same result?” through characters like Purin (who is the major character with the lowest opinion on these kinds of crafts at the start, since she’s in the technologically advanced school and has beliefs more in line with the efficacy of technology rather than the joy of human creation), with the short answer largely being because it’s just fun!

I first watched this show before I saw a lot of AI stuff intruding upon art and rewatching it after sure was fun, because I love its ideas on the worth of doing stuff that machinery could do much faster. It’s not super complex or emotional, but that largely goes in its favor, because it really doesn’t need to be those. It’s just a fun little anime about a bunch of girls having fun together through one shared hobby that some of them had from the start and some of them adopted. I also love the opening, and the ending is a massive comfort song for me. The series can also be very funny at points, and is usually super heartwarming.

#A3: RIN-NE (Kyoukai no Rinne)

Summary:

Rinne Rokudou has bigger problems than going to school—namely, helping spirits pass over to the next life. Because of this responsibility, he often finds himself short on money and struggles to buy his necessities: food, clothes, and exorcism tools.

Sakura Mamiya has been able to see ghosts since she was little. She hoped she would outgrow it, but even after starting high school, nothing has changed. To make matters worse, the first time her ever-absent classmate, Rinne, shows up for school, only Sakura can see him. She assumes, as anyone would, that he is a ghost. However, to Sakura's surprise, Rinne proceeds to attend school like normal the next day.

Propaganda:

This is one of Rumiko Takahashi’s underrated works (mostly getting overshadowed by Inuyasha due to her releasing this series after the fact), and I don’t see a lot of people talk about it often. While it’s not my favorite of her works, it’s one that I still like because of the way she portrays the characters. Plus, it still has that classic Rumic comedy and feel to it and I really love the animation with her artstyle. Anyways, if you like supernatural comedies (with a hint of romance) then vote for Rin-ne!

V2 Miku (Art by KEI): Starting off strong I see! Very simple, very cute. Classic. You can't go wrong with the classics. I feel like more could've been done, but hey. 8/10.

Miku Append (Art by Masaki): ...Well that went downhill fast. Sorry, but I'm not that big a fan of this design. The hair is very pretty though. 5/10.

Miku V3+Light/Vivid (Art by iXima): LOVE. Kinda wish they stayed with the classic uniform but it's still very cute. 9.5/10.

Miku English (Art by Zain): Idk why but when I saw this the first thought I got was limes. Just... limes. Also her uniform looks very crystalized and honestly I like. 9/10.

Miku V4X (Art by iXima): Nothing special. It's just the same as her V3 only with slightly thinner twintails (maybe it's the art? idk). 9/10 atleast she's cute.

Miku V4 Chinese (Art by Mamenomoto): ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL??? I mean, sure it's similar to V3/V4X designs but I LOVE IT SO MUCH. 10/10.

Miku NT (Art by iXima): As much as there's mixed feelings about Miku's NT voicebank (I'll admit I'm slightly conflicted myself!), you have to admit that the boxart is cute atleast! 9/10. BONUS: Concepts, Fanloids, Variations and Miku IF designs!

Prototype/Concept Miku (both by KEI): Ngl this looks like a younger Miku and honestly I love that. 10/10.

10th Anniversary Miku (I believe KEI also made this?) Colorful, but what the hell are the rainbow lines in her hair supposed to be? Ribbons? Cords? 7/10 could be worse.

Sakura Miku (By KEI): Love the cherries in her hair, but I don't like how the sakura flowers are just... printed in her hair? 8/10.

All of these Miku IF award designs: Sorry but THAT IS NOT MIKU. However... they're kinda cute and the designs are cool so they get a pass. Second design in particular looks like a great potential design for a sibling of Miku. 8/10 for all three (Originally 7/10 but the more I look at these designs the more I love them). Art made by Chiyo, Nashiicha and rokino respectively.

Miku Symphony Promo (By KEI): Very cute but I wish they did more with the outfit tbh. 7/10.

Miky Symphony 2017 Promo (Same as above): That's much better! Her hairpieces are slightly weird but the dress+violin make up for it. 9.5/10.

Akita Neru (Made by Smith Hiokia): Looks like if Rin and Miku had a baby (which tracks given that she's basically rin/miku). 9/10

Yowane Haku (Art by Caffein): Absolutely beautiful. I love her. The bow in her hair and the colors just... love love love. 10/10.
