reasons i will never forgive the showrunners if they don't at least acknowledge jjpope by the end of s3
featuring: ✨✨✨queerbaiting✨✨✨
wearing each other's clothes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jj taking every opportunity ever to touch pope (god there are SO many more examples too):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jj getting sexual with, to, or about pope and ONLY pope, ever:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
INTRICATE RITUALS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(with coincidentally well timed lyrics right as it cuts to this scene sorry not sorry editing choices like that are done for a reason)
jj very often gazing at his lips instead of his eyes while talking to him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(seconds before going in for the kiss)
jj constantly putting himself between pope and danger or being protective of him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
KISSING:
Tumblr media
INTIMATE NECK KISSING IN A HOT TUB FOR WHICH THERE IS NO HETEROSEXUAL REASON FOR????:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I RAN OUT OF ROOM FOR IMAGES BUT LETS NOT FORGET ALSO
how jj has quite a few pet names for pope but no one else, how pope and jj are almost always paired off together, how jj has explicitly said 'i love you' to pope TWICE, how jj calms pope down when he starts spiraling, how jj and pope have more physical contact and affection than the two romantic leads, how jj is supposed to be a manho from how he's introduced and yet the opening shot is the one and only time we've seen him with someone in a romantic or sexual manner. how about the multiple accounts of people sharing gifs of them to people who have never seen the show with 0 context provided and damn near every time the consensus is 'they are not straight/they are hitting on each other'. I've covered most of this before. the list goes on.
we could even get into film editing choices from the perspective of my bestie who has a degree in that very field and how SO many of their scenes are shot, lit, scored, and all around edited with romantic intent,.
but then wait, there's more! how about how multiple members of the cast (including rudy!!) have stated they support the ship and think it's cute? or how multiple netflix socials heavily suggested jjpope was going to be canon? how so many of the key jjpope moments were improv that could have been cut and redone (like the fucking hot tub scene) if they didn't want it going in a possible homo direction??? or how jjpope was the first major ship to come out of obx BECAUSE of such heavy handed subtext?? and then the showrunners have the audacity to pivot to jiara at the last second because of a handful of fucking rabid stans that harassed the cast so severely it drove most of them off of socials??? with the paper thin excuse of 'oh we never expected that lets explore it'???????????
and whats the definition of queerbaiting again? "Queerbaiting is a marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but then do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation. The purpose is to attract ("bait") a LGBTQ+ or straight ally audience with the suggestion or possibility of relationships or characters that appeal to them."
right.
i still have a sliver of hope that their 'exploration' of jiara is just like, 2 episodes of them giving it a shot and realizing they actually suck together. i still have hope they aren't gonna do us so blatantly dirty and might give us something even if it's just crumbs. most of the cast are loud and proud queer allies, the showrunners have so far been pretty fucking cool and extremely supportive of the queer community, even refusing to film in north Carolina because of transphobic bathroom laws. it would feel especially dirty if they really did bait us because of that. but man. MANNN. it just ain't looking good. i'd hate to give up on the show. i love it and love the actors even more but if they do it, i might just have to.

Fabian Aramais Seacaster S3 Playlist: side a
Here he is! God's favorite popular kid!! Song descriptions down below, spoilers for fantasy high junior year ep. 1-10
Genres include: dance/electronic, alternative, rnb, pop-punk
1. Stop, Justice
So many times we rise and fall After a while it's coming all together Together So many times we rise and fall Wondering if we'll find it all together Together Remember all the nights and days we spent together Together It's so easy to forget how to surrender But nothing's ever stopped Music and lights, rhythm and melodies Take us to the top
Is this about how Fabians friendships and newfound love of dance helped him become a happier better person? yes.
Is it also about how often Fabian fell during the Night Yorb battle? also yes.
2. Social Climb, I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
Oh, come break some hearts now Tear them out File in for amusements with the crowd Oh, but be advised Participation is required Doin' things not typically allowed Feels like we're having a good time It's true, a wonderfully good time when I'm with you
Fabian Seacaster, The Most Popular Guy in School, Maximum Legend, making my skin crawl blowing off Mazey's twister game to hang out with Ivy THATS NOT YOUR HEARTTTTTT, THATS NOT WHO YOU AREEEEEE. AND I KNOW he was doing it for the mystery but oh my GOD he was too good at playing that part
3. Call It What You Want, Foster the People
You've taken your words And you take your judgments And stick 'em onto everything If it don't conform to what you were born into Then you run the other way You say, "Now what's your style? And who do you listen to?" Who cares? Well, the rat race ladder climbin' fake fake smiles Got nothing on me, yeah, yeah
Ok, so this is a little unorthodox for me because I usually only put songs from the characters' perspectives on their respective playlists, but I can't get this scene out of my head. In my mind, this is Mazey's perspective from the chunk of that first downtime when Fabian invites her and everyone else in dance class to Seacaster Manor, and Fabian starts to really come out of his shell.
Think of it like a slow-burn montage of the two dancing (literally dancing) around their potential feelings for one another. The song has a really nice groove to it, and it matches up with Mazey's cool and earnest personality.
4. Stronger Than Ever, Raleigh Ritchie
Hate me when I'm gone I'll make it worth your while when I'm successful But, when I'm here I need your kindness 'Cause the climb is always stressful I'll leave my peace in pieces all around The decent people back at home 'Cause I'm a big boy, an adult now or nearly If I pull the wool back from my eyes I can see clearly The world is at my feet and I am standing on the ceiling,
Alone in that big house, trying to be the best at everything, pushing himself harder and harder. The song is so perfect it speaks for itself
5. Thing Called Love, Kevin Ross
Don't know why you love me so much, oh When I can't say I deserve us Like a rocket's failure to launch I just let it self-destruct And it's not right (No) And it hurts twice when it's good-intentioned But that's life (Right?) Or is it my pride that wouldn't listen
Ok these last two are just directly in reaction to episode ten scenes so be warned.THE SCENE WITH FABIAN AND MAZEY IN THE KITCHEN??? Talk about the right person and wrong time and god; it rips my heart out. Like how he earnestly talked about how worried he was for her safety. THE WAY SHE JUST SAYS SHE HAS A CRUSH ON HIM. THE WAY LOU REACTED????? shoot me dead
6. Pieces, Sum 41
I tried to be perfect But nothing was worth it I don't believe it makes me real I thought it'd be easy But no one believes me I meant all the things I said ... This place is so empty My thoughts are so tempting I don't know how it got so bad Sometimes it's so crazy That nothing can save me But it's the only thing I have
"breaker breaker, Fabian Seacaster looking for his papa Bill Seacaster."

The Bad Batch Season 2 Wrap Up Thoughts
I never ended up sharing my thoughts on the Bad Batch S2 finale. Since we're hopefully getting news of S3 tomorrow, this seemed like a good time?
First, to be clear, I love so much about the show. This is not meant to be a complaint thread. But I'm also critical of certain aspects. You're warned.
This is also a compiled Twitter thread!
Spoilers through the end of Season 2!
First off, I can't understate how beautiful the show was, just as an experience. The cinematography, the visual designs, the music. The unique worlds and unique characters. There were so many shots that were breathtaking, haunting. When a scene hits, it HITS.
I love both TCW & Rebels dearly, but cumulative skills + experience as well as new technology clearly shows. TBB, TotJ (and of course TCW S7) are just so captivating to watch as works of art. These shows are, frankly, worth it for that alone. But of course that's not all.
One of TBB's strengths is the depth it gives the worlds the characters visit, as well as the side/guest characters. Perhaps due to the nature of many of the episodes being more of an exploration than straight up war like TCW, but we can see more of these places. TCW also had so many neat planets/aliens/cultures, but due to the constantly pressing war, we were only ever allowed a glimpse and I constantly wished there was more. TBB really scratched that itch. I'm thinking specifically of Kashyyyk, with its fauna and wookiee traditions.
The same with side/guest characters. They all had such great flavor, with fun designs and motives. Phee was a standout among the non-clones. I also loved how it gave us such a personal exploration of characters we knew and loved before, like Riyo.
The thing about TBB is that it's set in such a fascinating time period that we don't have too much media of, at least in new canon. The formation of the Empire is a time where we know all these other characters must be alive and working hard, but we haven't seen it before.
This leads me to the writing. Oh, the writing...
How do I say this. The writing in this show gave me whiplash. Some of the episodes were beyond brilliant, giving us deeply personal character moments, layered metaphors, and context in how it affects the greater SW universe.
Others...not so much.
I understand this is not the case for everyone, but for me personally to enjoy a story, when there are any stakes involved, I need the characters to show some awareness of them, and for these to affect their actions. There are a limited number of episodes and that time must be spent wisely. I don't mean this at all to say that I didn't enjoy the lighter fun adventure missions with the Batch, nor do I think these episodes can't be used productively.
But TBB S1 started off with Crosshair siding with the Empire.
I kept waiting for them to *show* that the others cared. It could be they were troubled, it could be they missed him, it could have been shown in so many ways. I kept expecting these brief moments in the Fun Times episodes, which would have given me some emotional continuity.
The writers are absolutely capable of it! After Plan 99, when Echo glances at the co-pilot seat—stuff like that, I was personally expecting it through all of S1 and S2. I get that the Batch feel they have to do other things and Crosshair made his own choice, but I thought the point was they care about their brother regardless.
Mind you, I'm not the biggest fan of Crosshair, but I do find him interesting. And I felt that in the two episodes most centered around him, he had such tangible growth that was depicted so well. He went from stating that the Batch are superior to regs in S1 finale, to having clear doubts after working with Cody, to shooting a natborn officer because he didn't help a "reg" he'd just met. We see Crosshair being included by the clones he disdains, we see how it compares to the Empire he thought he wanted to be a part of. The writing in Crosshair's episodes were tight, and he went far within them, few as they were.
In comparison, the rest of the Batch...with their far greater number of episodes...what were they doing??
I love character-centric eps, but even on a personal level, I wasn't sure what the charas gained. Tech is the sole exception; he was given many introspective moments, from Sorenno, to Phee, to the cave talk with Omega. Not sure how much he changed, but he expressed himself.
To also be clear, I'm also not including Echo in any of this. He has been the voice of trying to get the Batch to do things, to *change*, since S1. I felt his frustration keenly. Which is why I felt that when he left to go with Rex...I sort of left the Batch with him.
I mean this in the sense that Echo didn't *want* to leave the Batch, not necessarily. He wanted, and he *did* try to get Hunter to care about what their brothers are suffering, and he has been since S1. Echo can't stand to leave them chipped when he could do something.
He wanted the Batch to feel the same. *I* wanted the Batch to feel the same. But they didn't. I see Echo breaking with them less as him leaving, and more as they (or at least Hunter) firmly telling him that that's not their fight, and they're not going to do it.
This isn't the Batch going out of their way to help, or not knowing how. Echo and Rex have given them an open invitation. The Batch know how to help, who needs it, and why. They know their "reg" brothers don't have many if any others fighting for them. The Batch (Hunter) have these opportunities to help and know they are among the few positioned to offer it...and they still walk away.
The Batch (Hunter) sees the other clones fates as none of their business. On one hand, I get that they never fit in, were called names and weren't allowed to sit with the cool kids at lunch. On the other, "they were mean" and "therefore they should be mind-controlled slaves" is grossly disproportional. Likewise it's not as though this fight doesn't concern them. Even if they can't find it in themselves to care about "regs," it's Rex who told them to remove their chips and went out of his way to make sure they did based on info that Fives gathered, without which Wrecker would have killed Omega. Perhaps I wouldn't go as far as to say they *owe* other clones, but my opinion of them certainly continued to drop as they made explicitly clear that they're fine with this being the fate of other clones.
So okay, fine. TBB isn't a story about the Batch discovering they have more alike with other clones than they first thought (other than Crosshair, who actually does get that story). That's what I wanted, alright, I know I'm not getting that at this point.
But then, where does that leave them? What do they care about, what do they fight for?
Their brother...right?
Except...they don't really do that either??? (points at earlier in this rant) At least, until the very last episodes, where an opportunity presents itself, and most of the Batch jumps on it...except Hunter.
The way he's written just *baffles* me. I can't say anything about his personality other than "he cares about Omega," but even that, when at the expense of his other brothers, is tiring. Immediately after Tech gives his life on a mission he wanted to go on to try to save Crosshair, he suggests they all hide away on Pabu (even with the knowledge that Omega is wanted and they're being hunted). I get that he wanted to hide from the pain, but in that context?? Even then, he can't care about Cross??
And then when Omega is kidnapped, the difference in his reaction between that and what happened with Crosshair...it was, frankly, painful.
I feel like by the end of the series, Tech would have been more open to joining Echo/the clones' fight. Wrecker will just go along. Echo has already plunged headfirst into helping others, Crosshair got character growth and defected from the Empire. And Omega has always wanted to help even strangers, but only doesn't when Hunter tells her no.
I feel that Hunter's the one dragging his heels for the Batch to progress, and he's supposed to be the leader.
All of this to say, I've been trying so hard to like the Batch since S1, and they didn't really click for me (other than Echo, who I don't count since I loved him from long before, and still consistently have). But by the end of S2, I think I've concluded that I'd like the others perfectly fine if they were under different leadership that encouraged them to care, to act.
I don't want to say I *dislike* him, but man...I'm super disappointed in Hunter, and I'm not sure if/how that might change.
This leads me to my final thought, which is: I would strongly prefer if "the Clone Story" be told from a different lens than Hunter-centric TBB.
What I mean is, throughout the show, there have been multiple pivotal events that affect all clones, not just the Batch.
The fall of Kamino, the failure of the clones' rights bill are the big ones. But even without those, through the glimpses of the "regs" like Howzer, Gregor, Wilco, Cody, Slip, Cade, and Mayday, we see how the Empire is treating the rest of them as a group.
I'm deeply invested in these boys and their stories, and frankly, all of these boys instantly became my faves in their few moments of screen time. I want more of these, and it feels deeply unfair that they've done so much to tell compelling stories but have so little time.
They are an extension of the clones I love from TCW in a way that the Batch just aren't, and don't seem to be interested in becoming.
Not even that, but we know from Hunter's rejection of Echo that the Batch (Hunter) don't *care.*
Fine, they don't care. But I'm admittedly deeply concerned about how S3 will go, because even if the Batch doesn't care about the Clone Story, they (Hunter) don't seem to be doing a great job progressing their internal story either (Crosshair).
I understand Omega has some crucial background we're *finally* getting to. I want to know why she's special, why she's unaltered. I want to know what she has that Boba doesn't, or if she's just Nala Se's favorite. Maybe that's relevant to the Clone Story.
But frankly, personally, I would prefer if TBB S3 goes full in focussing on building Hunter and Wrecker up emotionally, and just going full in on what it means for them as a Batch to be there for each other. They need that, desperately, without distractions.
I would prefer if the Clone Story (frankly, the story I'm far more invested in) is told through Rex and other clones, who passionately care and are in the fight. If Echo jumps between the 2 groups and links them, great! I think the Batch would make excellent guest characters. But NOT protagonists of a story where they don't care while everyone else does.
I guess all of this to say, it's sad that I think I liked the Batch the most in TCW S7, and my impression of them as a group (which I recognize is largely due to Hunter) has only gone downhill since.
Again, to be clear, I did enjoy the show.
I LOVED eps 3, 7, 8, 12, 14, to the point I'd say they're possibly my favorite eps of any SW show. These eps are conspicuously non Batch-centric. I loved many *parts* of other episodes.
The *show* has given me so much to love. Unfortunately, none of those things are Hunter.

Hi I'm new to the fandom and not gonna lie for a long time I was confused about why would anyone ship Rivamika because it always seemed like Levi was barely aware of Mikasa and Mikasa hated Levi or disliked him. I started reading the manga last week and I'm honestly surprised by how little changes made a huge different. WIT always made it seem like Mikasa didn't care about anyone other than Ereh and I believe they are the reason why everyone makes fun of Mikasa for being obsessed. I genuinely thought "I love her but she's very ungrateful and rude sometimes, their strongest soldier hurt his ankle when they needed him the most because of her and all she cared about is Ereh" but it's not like that in the manga. She actually feels guilty and responsible which is a great panel to show how character development. A 3 seconds scene would do so much good to Mikasa's character but WIT somehow didn't want to include that scene. Even in S3 it seemed like they would like to keep them apart and don't let them interact even though there was a huge reveal about them. And I think it's not only WIT. Even Isayama himself is almost afraid to let them interact and I'm not talking about shipping here. Imagine finding out that someone experienced the same things as you did, have this weird mysterious power thing going on and that person is your Captain whom you made it clear that you trust and respect now. It's crazy to me that they don't even talk and compare their experiences etc???? Again, it's not even about shipping, it pisse me off because it feels like Mikasa isn't allowed to have anything of her own, the reason why Mikasa ships aren't popular isn't because she's not loved, it's because Isayama, WIT and even Mappa didn't let her have many meaningful interactions. Hell, even with Armin (they are supposed to be a trio) it sometimes feel like they were just hanging out for Eren. Ughhh they could at least let Mikasa have Ackermans for her own. She could interact more with Levi and even with Kenny for a sec. So disappointing :(
Wow!! Anon, welcome to the fandom and thanks for sending this! I never get asks and it’s always exciting 😂 We’re glad you’re here!
The “I didn’t get how people shipped rivamika” thing is common tbh, don’t worry! I was on that train too until I stopped to think about everything implied between the lines—most of it being in the manga, as you said. I know people say things like we ‘grasp at straws’ but there is realistically fantastic depth we can assume from their closeness as comrades alone. The magic of Rivamika as a ship is it takes more deep knowledge of the characters to understand why it WORKS so well. And when you get it, gosh, it’s amazing!
We definitely agree too, that WIT cut such crucial scenes to Mikasa’s character. I will never understand their choices… And I’ll forever grieve it 😭 That scene of self-reflection and guilt over Levi’s injury/absence is important because it’s the first time she finally thought outside of her tunnel vision of Eren. Ultimately, she learns to care about what happens to others as a result of her actions, which quite literally starts with Levi.
I also agree, it seems like Yams started the Ackerman reveal + arc but decided midway not to commit to it or develop it. It explained their strength, but that was it. It’s strange that even in the anime they chose not to explain that Ackerman’s are Titan DNA hybrids. That seems like a crucial piece but I wonder why they didn’t think it was important. Because then the whole “Ackerman’s are immune to x and x” has no narrative proof at all.
I like to think Ackertalk happened behind the scenes. I like reading everyone’s versions of it—but always a shame we never got that in canon. It’s even strange because they both lost their entire families, so finding out you’re from the same people should at least create a sense of bonding or they’d take on a slightly familial role, or SOMETHING. (Though I’m glad it didn’t go that route because people would REALLY think they’re cOuSiNs lol) But it’s just strange Yams introduced these things that ended up really having not much purpose, or none at all. (Don’t get me started on the Azumabito shit)
I still hope and manifest for some sort of Ackerman spin off that explores this. Can you imagine? Levi and Mikasa (the cash cows of AOT, we say!) venturing off post-war to discover more about the Ackerman’s? Or to retrace and find surviving Ackerman’s outside the world?

What do you think of tdp's rating potentially changing for s6? Personally I'm all for it because I'm on the younger side of the fandom (not a minor but I definitely was when I started the show) and it's nice that the show is growing with me, but I've heard complaints that the increasing darkness doesn't fit well with some of tdp's less mature aspects/humor. One of my favorite artists dropped the show because of it, which is a little disheartening since I thought s5 was absolutely amazing.
Honestly I thought S3 was pushing the lid on Y7 with some of the final ep violence / some elements of the Aaravos-Viren-dark magic body horror, so I think realistically S4 (because of the Ibis scene) and s5 (gestures to - half the season) should absolutely be rated PG. Y7 tv shows tend to get away with a lot more than G-rated films (at least since the mid 2000s I think) so I think that skews stuff as well.
As for the humour, even when it doesn't work for me (personally S1, S5, and S4 have had the best humour for me) it's almost all character based so I give it a pass. Like soo many people acted like the goofiness in S4 or fart jokes were baseless / a personal offense, but 1) Claudia's always had bathroom humour and while it's never been something I found funny, I appreciated it for its character consistency and that a girl gets the gross out humour at all bc we just don't see that a lot, and 2) teens and adolescents make bad jokes all the time. I make fart jokes all the time. I don't really want 'em in my media, but I do think they're funny, and I like that the characters in my media think they're funny because yeah... Bad puns, stupid jokes, being ridiculous with your friends, even or especially in times of crisis - sounds pretty grounded in realism to me.
I think part of the disconnect people have with humour (and less 'mature' humour, which - my favourite Shakespeare joke is the "do you bite your thumb at me sir" from Romeo and Juliet which shows my 'maturity' level when it comes to laughs, lmao) vs the rest of the show is... People outside of the age demographic being unwilling to accept that they're outside of the age demographic. Like drop TDP for any reason you want, of course, but
It's like - I didn't love the episodes in She-ra about "learning how to be a good friend," but I'd be dumb if I genuinely complained about it because this show is For Kids and it's catering to them first and foremost. It's not supposed to cater all parts of itself to my age demographic, nevermind my taste and no art does that, even stuff that is for my age demographic because it's an unrealistic choice to put on media. TDP is a little different since they've gone on record stating that its for Families, so that warrants something a little more 'mature' by proxy (and I very much think the show reflects that) but like - it's for families, and that means reflecting all those elements, too. Including humour (some for adults, some for tweens/teens/etc).
TLDR; emotionally scared because I love all the kiddos but very glad overall about the rating change, cause I'd rather people be warned ahead of time / be able to make informed choices about what they want to watch / consume.

Simone's LA Times podcast left me so ambivalent...She was delightful per usual and I'm glad she has some TBA projects so I can support her work elsewhere. But I think I'm finally over the show....
TVWLM is the only Bridgerton book I like, so I was happy to peace out from the fandom after S2. But S2 left me so dissatisfied and Simone and JB have made it seem like they'll have a decent story in S3, so I was gonna stick around. But Simone's reveal that they had written a backstory and flashbacks for Kate—but ultimately scraped it—has just left such a sour taste (compounded by everything else) and IDK that I can't reconcile it anymore. Like do I still want to follow this show?
They've got no problem giving all the white women characters their due (Eloise, Daphne, Penelope, Violet), but Kate, her family, and Lady Danbury have been horrendously written. There's no reason to be optimistic they'll try to course correct next season. Obviously Simone & JB have some idea of what their storyline is (seems she's been permitted to hint about a baby), and it sounds promising when they sell it, but I doubt it'll actually be that substantive/thoughtful...They didn't care to do right by Kate & Kanthony their own season, and now they've got a new central romance plus a million subplots to contend with S3.
Just feeling very disillusioned about a show I once really enjoyed despite its many issues.
I LOVED the LA Times interview, the questions were really good, and they actually asked about stuff other than representation. I also feel like Simone felt comfortable, especially seeing as she offered to tattoo the interviewer lol. I’m so excited to hear about what she has coming up, and I hope there’s an announcement soon because news about Bridgerton is just depressing as shit.
Anon, I am so tired of the shit that we continue to find out after the release of season two. Like it’s no secret that I have my issues with how shit the writing was for season two, but this latest thing is just...yeah. Part of me wonders if the way Simone (and Jonny) continue to bring stuff up is their way of trying to get it included next season? Like trying to force the show’s hand? (Also, I did start answering this ask yesterday but got annoyingly angry and depressed while answering so I had to leave it lol, sorry)
I am so fucking annoyed. And you’re absolutely right, it does leave such a bad taste in the mouth.
And you know what I find quite insidious about the whole thing? Is that they had these flashbacks included in the sides that Simone auditioned with, giving the impression of a somewhat thorough exploration of Kate's background and cause of her trauma and grief, as well as making it seem that Kate's background (including being Indian) and life in India was going to be given consideration, only for them to scrap the scenes entirely once Simone was cast. I honestly find it somewhat disgusting, and to be honest, it makes me feel sick. It’s like they enticed her with those scenes, and the promise of that kind of thoughtful focus, only to get rid of them once she was cast. Those scenes were bait.
And look, I know just because these sides and scenes were used for audtion purposes, doesn’t mean they were always going to be included in the show, but that makes it even worse? I didn't necessarily want flashbacks of Kate's time in India because I didn't trust the show to handle such scenes sensitively enough, but the fact that these scenes were written in the first place and then scrapped, ENRAGES me. It makes me feel violent. They wrote and included this stuff because they knew it was important for Kate's character, to understand her as a character and her motivations, and I don’t understand why it wasn’t included. So we could watch Jack and Portia have the same conversation over and over again? So we could watch any of the other sideplots go nowhere for far too long? WHY DID THEY TREAT KATE’S GRIEF AND TRAUMA AS THOUGH IT WAS MEANINGLESS AND THAT IT DIDN’T MATTER???
The WOC on this show are so poorly served, and I fucking hate it. I think maybe they’re saving Lady Danbury’s backstory for the Queen Charlotte spinoff, but, that’s still shit because not everyone who watches Bridgerton is going to watch the spinoff. Plus, if they keep the main elements from RMB, then Lady Danbury is involved in Polin’s story as well? And it’s gross, because her sole purpose in life is not to be the Bridgertons’ romantic fairy godmother?? Like fuck off with this shit. It’s offensive. I really thought they would expand on Kate and Lady Danbury’s relationship, and have Lady Danbury confide in Kate about her life and why she gave Kate the advice she did after the non-wedding...but they didn’t. And then you have how they treated Kate in HER SEASON. It honestly felt like she was a side character in her own season at times and I just...FUCK.
Like, my expectations for season three regarding Kanthony were already rock bottom, and with everything new that comes out, my expectations just get lower. It’s depressing, and I just...it gets more and more obvious that this show doesn’t actually care about ‘diversity’; for them it doesn’t actually have to be substantive, it’s just icing that they can sprinkle on the top and then ask for the plaudits for their superficial diversity. And it pisses me off that their superficiality gets hardly any traction or criticism.

lol at ppl being confused that Dick dated Barbara even though he had feelings for Kory (and being angry at him for it). Have they not seen a tv show before? Dating someone even though you have feelings for someone else is like the most common part of will-they-won't-they. And there are many reasons that a person could date another person even though they have feelings for someone else: denial, thinking it's unrequited, thinking they're unworthy of that person, scared of losing that person, etc
Yeah shows always take random detours between s1 and the endgame ship. It's expected. I did like the development of DK from s2-3 though. In s3 they felt like partners and family rather than it always being a risk of him or her leaving before. There was more trust there.
I'll admit I felt like DB was a waste of time (as side ships usually are) but i didn't think they were replacing Kory as the leading lady. And if there is a point to a side ship then it's fine. The hospital scene in ep 8 is where I finally understood DB wasn't just filler. The point was to prove to Dick he's not Batman. Meaning not only does he not belong in Gotham he also doesn't fit with anything from his old life including fooling around with Babs and not having a family to answer to.
Tumblr media
This gif says a lot IMO. He may as well have a thought bubble that says "what have I done?" LOL. And he immediately ran off after she said this.
He loves his team and the only one who loves mentoring them too is Kory. Dawn and Babs don't care about them kids at all LMAO
Babs didn't want anything to do with who he currently is or his family. And...they never actually made it on a single date.
As for Kory and Justin, I think the issue with them was more obvious. She can't date a normal guy. When he got a bit hesitant after she mentioned she wasn't human she ended it right there.
I personally think that Dick thought he was unworthy of Kory before the whole Slade thing was sorted out and after that, he thought he just missed his chance. We'll find out when he explains himself.
I'm really looking forward to it.

Things are a bit confusing.
In S2 the Upside Down doesn’t seem stuck on Nov 6th 1983 at all.
In S4 Nancy says that the UD is stuck on Nov 6th and it seems true, at least from what we see in her bedroom. The Duffers also confirmed that time is stuck on that day, but of course writers can’t tell you well, it’s not completely true. It would be a spoiler.
So, let’s see what we see in the show.
Tumblr media
We know that in S1 the Duffers and the other writers had like 30 pages where they explained everything about the UD. They already knew how it works and what it is. But they weren’t sure if they could continue the story, so maybe there are things that have changed. But in S2 they knew they could complete the story. And that’s when things get weird, if the reveal in S4 is true.
Season 1
Will and Joyce communicate through the Christmas lights on Nov 8th, and when Joyce is in the UD there are no lights in her house. So rewatching S1 now it really seems that the UD is stuck on the day Will went missing.
Visions don’t count. Henry can make you see whatever he wants. For example. In Will’s first vision there’s water in the sink. But there’s no water in the UD
Tumblr media
Season 2
In 2x02 we see the flashback of El waking up in the UD. Not a dream or a vision. And we know it happened while Joyce and Hopper were saving Will. But the classroom looks exactly like the real one. And when El leaves, she walks on the door the monster broke down. So it’s not Nov 6th here, it’s a week later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have Will’s visions. I said they don’t count, but they’re all in the present. The whole season is consistent with that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See? Same car. Same day, October 1984. And in the third vision: this car
Tumblr media
And this car
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will hears the demodogs in two different directions, so he looks to his left, then to his right. They wanted us to notice these cars? Who knows.
But there’s another real moment in the UD in this season. The ending scene, with the MF looming over the school. That’s not a vision. Many people have noticed the lights and said it was an error. But what about El waking up in the classroom, when we know it happened a week after Nov 6th? The ending scene could be a mistake. But both the ending scene AND the opening scene of the season? I doubt it. Unless they decided that the UD is stuck on Nov 6th later... But it’s not easy to ignore this after S4.
Tumblr media
In S3 there are only visions, of Billy talking with MF!Billy.
Season 4
The visions in this season are different from Will’s, they’re more nightmarish. Henry wanted to scare his victims as much as possible. But they’re still in the present (like Max’s at school or at the graveyard) And the snow ball scene is not really the UD, it’s her happy memory, where she tries to hide from Vecna.
So, at this point, the only times in the show we can be sure the UD looks like Hawkins on Nov 6th are when Joyce is in her house in 1x08 and Nancy is in her room in 4x07.
The Duffers said that the UD being stuck on the day Will went missing will be the key plot point of the last season. They could’ve been much more vague, but...
Tumblr media
Anyway, I trust them, and with all the callbacks to S1 we saw in S4, and knowing they included in S5 many S2 ideas, I’m sure they have a good explanation. But I admit this is weird.
Maybe the UD is stuck on Nov 6th now but it wasn’t before? It happened after Will’s possession in S2? But why? Wouldn’t it be a bit complicated? Or maybe the only people who can see the UD in the present are the ones with powers, so Henry, El and in S5 we’ll find out, Will too?
I can’t wait to see what this all means!

(Pure fangirl impressions) Ch 115
Haha a new subtitle of ‘pure fangirl impressions’ because i have too many thoughts to organize right now
I’m really happy with how they adapted these chapters for 115. I feel they serve to ENHANCE and even surpass the novel version at some point (!!!)
Yeah hi Papa Felipe, barging in and dropping off the remnants of Lari’s diary. (Novel detail only: he noticed Lari was gone and asked if that was why Rupert looked like shit lol)
Novel detail: Lehan remembers him because he was out wandering and randomly taught the troops chemistry one day (chap 86)
Novel detail: the page were burnt into crumbs, but in the manhwa some pages were left intact, but damaged. I prefer this because Rupert actually has more info to glean from
I LOVE RUPERT’S EXPRESSION OF SHOCK AAAA. Haha he forgets lehan was standing there for a while and finally dismisses him
Rupert finally figures out the inexplicable part of Lari: things make sense because she regressed.
The heartbreaking thing is he see her words (manhwa only) that include: [ It’s horrible. I don’t want to beg to live like this]. [I won’t die like that again] and… [I returned from death].
he then has a flashback to their first meeting and during the gun scene and recalls how he knew from the start how fake she was, to pretend she was bubbly and clueless but the moment he turned around she would give him a look of pure hatred and fear, and felt as if if he let his guard down she’d stab him in the back. But eventually he forgot because she said nice things to him and he felt comfortable around her, and eventually those feelings grew to the point where he wanted to grab her and kiss her
The manhwa changes the wording a bit - while in the novel it’s like [i want to kiss her], the manhwa says [like a beast, i wanted to kiss her] (or something like that - but the important thing is AS OF CHAPTER 78, PER THE MANHWA, HE IS THIRSTING FOR HER SO STRONGLY ALREADY!!!
In the novel, it doesn’t give readers a specific timeframe of when he started developing feelings - so I expected a random scene. But NOOO they used Ch 78.. so then by Ch 78, if he feels this strongly.. then that slightly changes how one would potentially see the entirety of S3, because it would change from “Ah his feelings are growing slowly and steadily” to “wait he’s loved her so much this whole time? So in this moment…” Omggg!!! I’m re-reading some scenes and having so much fun with it ><
THEY DID BETTER THAN I IMAGINED FOR THE SOFA SCENE.
yes, they included a panel of her saying he should upgrade his furniture, but also a few panels of her being around the room making random comments and calling out to him while smiling. He misses her calls that muchhhhh T_T
Ah the tori scene in the last third. Instead of making her give a weird fake smile, they left her emotionless. But she still mimicked Lari’s hug, to which Rupert gently distanced her away.
We get a nice flashback to how Tori was created, with poor Rupert hiding behind Eva while watching Tori beg for her to stop.
This is such good paneling to end the chapter, because it makes the reader think “Oh no, with lari gone, he’s in despair he only has Tori (Eva) left, he’s shackled down again… will he become a tyrant again??? and the answer is no, Rupert is approaching his “black bread stalker guy” phase HAHHA.
In terms of what they’ll adapt next week in 116, there’s a 50% they’ll give us a Rupelali reunion. It’s hard to say because there’s a lot of skippable filler content with the backstory of Lari’s village life // and Lehan + Rupert antics.. BUT IT INCLUDES THE LEAF SCENE… but again, is skippable stuff. The next few chapters is essentially the same scene as well, with Lari’s POV first, then Rupert’s POV.. (like Ch 97/98) so will be interesting to see what they do.

hey just wanted ur points in this. we know that daryl was (is) in love with beth in Still and Alone, but what about Beth? do u think she shared the same feelings? did she fall in love with him too? it'd be nice if u could give ur opinion with some evidences or dialogues from the scenes or stuff. no pressure though :)
I do believe she had feelings for him as well, but I also think she tried to suppress hers.
So, the only really canon evidence we have for her side of things comes from S3. Even though not many people were thinking about them as a couple in S3, if you go back and watch, you can see that they were already setting it up.
I've said this before, but just a quick recap: tptb knew about the Caryl ship even back then. The "wanna screw around" scene with Daryl on Carol on top of the overturned bus in 3x01 was the writers addressing the idea of romance between them and dismissing it. It was like both characters considered it for a minute, but then went, "nah." And ever since, they've just been platonic besties. It's something that ship refuses to acknowledge.
But right after that--RIGHT after; like 5 seconds later--Beth was singing by the fire and Daryl was staring at her. That's very telling for what the writers were going for.
So, in terms of Beth's feelings, all we really have is her conversation with Carol after Daryl left with Merle. I made an edit about it some time ago and how she's crushing on him.
Tumblr media
So, this is my opinion about what's up with Beth's feelings about Daryl. It is mostly conjecture, but I've also extrapolated from what we have seen in the show, and what they've told us.
I think Beth did have a crush on Daryl. I even have a head canon where maybe she was slightly afraid of him at first. I mean, back when he first showed up at Hershel's farm in S2. Because he has the look of a scary biker dude, and Beth was raised to be a wholesome country girl.
But Beth also has a talent for seeing people's best traits. After being on the road with Rick's group for a year, she recognized that Daryl is actually kind and loyal and gentle and all the things we know and love about Daryl. One thing that's not in my edit above is that she tells Carol the group is weak without him. So, she also recognized that he was a major survival asset for them.
So, I think she did have a crush on him, but she never truly believed he would return those feelings. Like, she thought her own feelings were just a schoolgirl crush, and that Daryl would never see her that way. She saw herself as weak, younger than him, and not his equal.
And that was true to a certain extent (though not in a negative way) at first, back in S2. She really did need to be protected back then, and Daryl wouldn't have thought of her in any way other than another member of the group and Hershel's daughter.
But there's a natural progression to things in life, and by S4, that clearly began to change. Drastically. They had their hug in 4x01, which resulted in a moment of sexual tension. And boy, those moments sure can change the nature of a person's reality, can't they. (Sorry; was totally watching Westworld last night. ;D).
And then of course we had the beautiful Bethyl journey of 4b, where they connected and got to know another on a soul level.
The last thing I want to point to is something that was said in the Daryl Origins episode. We had that moment where he said that during the "oh" moment, Daryl believed he'd read her incorrectly. That was confirmation that Daryl had feelings for Beth, and that IS what he was attempting to convey in that moment (of course we already knew that, both from the episode itself and from the character bios that AMC posted saying as much back after S4, and then quickly deleted, but this was just another confirmation of it) but when Beth showed surprise, he thought she didn't feel the same way.
I believe they included that in the Origins episode, not ONLY to confirm Daryl's feelings for her, but to draw attention to what hers might have been.
Clearly she was surprised to learn how he felt about her, but I don't think she was at all opposed to it. I think she was just shocked because she truly never thought he could come to see her that way.
It's also clear to me that Beth did want to be close to him emotionally. I truly don't think she was ever pursuing him romantically. She just admired him, secretly crushed on him from afar, but had resigned herself that he'd never feel the same way. But she still wanted to be close to him, even if just platonically. That's why she hugged him in 4x01, and why she tried so hard to draw him out emotionally in 4b.
And she kind of achieved that much. We see her being happy in Alone because they had become close. They were comfortable together, and she was learning to survive, and that made her happy. (We also see Daryl looking happy in Alone, but for other reasons. ;D)
So then, when he reveal his feelings, it truly shocked her, because she didn't expect it. And of course then the shit hits the fan, and she doesn't really get a chance to say much, other than, "Oh," which is eternally ambiguous. (Damnit, Gimple! Give us more!)
But think of it this way:
Think about the way stories are always written. Something is hinted at ONLY if it's eventually going to be fulfilled. So, if Daryl and Rick tell Michonne not to go to Macon, because it might be too dangerous, eventually someone in the group is going to end up at Macon and face some danger. (That's where Terminus was.)
If Eugene and Rosita stumble across a bizarre group dressed as walkers who whisper to one another, and then return home, tell everyone, and just *hope* they won't run into that group again, clearly, they're going to run into that group again.
It's true in other stories too. If the Beast tells Belle to stay out of the West Wing, where is she eventually going to go? You get the picture.
So, if they went out of their way to tell us that Daryl had feelings for Beth, but HE didn't think she returned them...
I'll just let you finish that sentence.
So, there's my theory and what little evidence we have from AMC and the show for how Daryl felt about Beth. But I do think it's fairly compelling evidence.
This is why I still think what Gimple told Larry King before S5 remains true: that eventually Daryl will find true love in the apocalypse. He already found it. They set it up that way. Now, he's just waiting for her return.
Thanks Nonny! Xoxo! 🔥😎😘

2022 AO3 Year-End Fic Review
tagged by the lovely @winterlovesong1 , thank you dear! finally getting around to doing it before the 2023 review! 😹😹😹
1. What is your AO3 account?
tryalittlejoytomorrow - I’m a strong believer in being easily found lol
2. How many words did you write total in 2022?
according to the AO3 stat page, 444k - but according to my math, which is way more accurate if I only count works and chapters published in 2022 and not works that were started before but finished then, more around 184k
3. How many fics did you publish in 2022? How many multichapters vs oneshots?
9 fics - 6 oneshots (including one massive 20k) and 3 multichapters (two massive post s3 case!nace fics)
4. What was your longest fic? Your shortest fic?
Longest Fic: by the prospect of the touch, by the memory of the feel (we are undone by each other) , my (first) monster of a post s3 Nace case fic, 55k
Shortest Fic: remind me once again just who I am because I need to know , The Missing Scene between Nace (you know the one), 2k
5. What was your most popular fic? Your least popular fic?
I’m counting comments as the only real way to quantify popularity because kudos mean nothing to me. It takes one second to leave a kudo but it can mean a hundred things: ‘twas okay, nice!, love it!, love it but not enough to bother saying something, will read later. Only comments say what they mean to say.
Most Popular: when it’s too heavy to carry, remember this moment with me (they say love is a journey), Nace undercover married fic
Least Popular: remind me once again just who I am because I need to know, the ultimate nace missing scene where Nancy tells Ace about tanking her grades - honest to God, this might be the failure that sticks the most
6. What fic didn’t perform as well as you thought it would?
Definitely the aforementioned missing scene where Nancy shares about tanking her grades with Ace. This feels like The Scene and I thought people would care more - then again, maybe they just didn’t care about my version of the events. It’s definitely the one fic people didn’t like that tore at me a little, made me cry and want to stop writing for them.
7. What fic performed way better than you thought it would?
mmmh, I’d say undercover married fic? since it’s not a “breaking the curse” fic I thought people would care less about the case or where the story went, especially at a time when all people cared about was breaking the curse.
8. What was your favorite fic you wrote from 2022?
I’m a Libra, I hate picking - but I guess the three fics I loved writing most are also three of my least popular ones but who cares (I do), I still love them (a lot)
home edit my beloved: Bess and Ryan host a home edit show and redo Nancy and Ace’s house as they’re expecting. More emotions ensue because why the hell not. HOME EDIT MY BELOVED is perhaps my singular favorite nace fic of all times and it kills me that no one cares about lol (derogatory)
pizza man AU: Nancy gets drunk and falls in love with the pizza man. once again, I had so much fun working on this AU for Ash’s birthday and everyone hated it and this is definitely the moment when I dropped out of that fandom bc I recognized many people’s names amongst the kudos who are people who used to bother to comment and who didn’t anymore so you know - maybe I should be someone who wrote for these two but doesn’t anymore too. it gets me stupid emotional because this fic means a lot to me but alas, opening your heart to fandom can be both a beautiful and terrible thing indeed.
and my you’ve got mail/a cinderella’s story helnik AU where they fall in love online despite being enemies IRL: I hate that the helnik fandom is so dead because I had such fun working on this but the feedback was so inconsistent and small and it’s a shame because I love their dynamic but it seems not worth it, you know? for four people to enjoy it after I spent so many weeks on it.
9. What was your favorite fic that somebody else wrote in 2022?
I don’t even need to think about it: The Stars Are Fire, by my beloved @flythesail . I cannot even comprehend how much I love this story but beyond it, the girl who wrote it, so I’m going to steal someone else’s words who hopefully will somewhat encapsulate my feelings: “What I feel for you can’t be conveyed in phrasal combinations; It either screams out loud or stays painfully silent but I promise — it beats words. It beats worlds.”
10. Tag your friends to have them do this year-end fic review as well!
tagging @flythesail @scarletslippers 💜

ok thus far if I was a character it would probably be toni or dot. cackling at the thought of being henry but im too bitchy and irritable for that irl 💀 if I was stuck with the girls, i would probs hang with fatin and dot 🥰 maybe rachel too bcuz i love her (so many feelings about s2 Rachel. this is sooooo fucked up). i would not talk to Leah. I rlly would not. she would mention her bf and i would go 😐. im sorry Leah. I understand u as a character and understand ur narrative complexities and being a vessel for the plot but LORD if I met her irl.
anyway if I was in the guys little fucked up circle initially i would've chilled with ivan and henry. would bicker with ivan 75% of the time, but it would be fun. bo is so sweet tho. also liked rafe for a bit. 💗💗💗💗 something that has been killing me is 1. the seth plot. and 2. how uneven the boys backstories are compared to s1... they're just not given the same respect. i also see what u mean about rafe potentially being protagonist but then there's no way to confidentially call him that the way u can for Leah. granted, this IS the girls' story, but it feels like a waste ... only 2 eps left tho so idk
ok u as dot just feels real and right to me that’s so true. and u ivan and henry is kind of a nuclear trip that would be so funny
and hard agree on 2 i think the space to include the boys full stories would have been great but there just was not enough time in the episodes. like the girls were progressing in a really intriguing way but i also wanted space to fill out the lore of the boys to give their stories justice and due diligence too like it just felt so crammed. i feel this season should have been ten eps just so things could be more thinly spread because the boys are INTERESTING and i really like seeing them it just seems like a dilemma of focus that will be cast aside by s3 no spoilers ofc.
and the seth plot being the central conflict for the boys was. a choice. because i hate it on its merit and the fact that it exists but also the ripple effect of how it radically changed the atmosphere on their island and their chances of survival was something that i feel the girls didn’t have (and intentionally so because clearly that’s gretchen’s aim) particularly irt the development of characters like henry kirin josh and raf. it builds the meat of the boys screen time and basically defines their time on the island but i just wish it was anything else.
then again i’m not sure if ur up to seth’s backstory bits but i feel like those make u go “ok yeah that tracks and is completely expected from that creature” as vile as it is. which is also kind of wack because initially the end of ep4 came as a huge like WHOA tw out of the blue thing besides the precedent of his scene with henry on the beach, so it’s just introduced poorly then not really supported well until the end of the season basically. ugh just sloppy but conflict is conflict i guess and also alex fitzalan is acting his ass off if i ever saw that man in public i would cross the street and start running away
edit: back to the boys characters THIS IS A CHARACTER DRIVEN SHOW!!!!!! yes it is plot heavy and set heavy but like there’s a reason season one depended on individual vignettes and spotlights on each girl, and how she related to their journey to survival you can’t just eliminate that and try to tell another compelling story without that element of strong full focused characters to tell it for u. ugh

omg i love fcuu. it has some of the best charas!!! like jenny, diana, betty and ken!!! can you post some hcs for it??
also opnion, what is your fav season of mys/mcd?
and like for what reasons did you make the changes that you did to the stories? (applies to both mys/mcd and all other rewrites of yours)
of course i can!! i wrote so many they’re going under a read more, like all of my stuff ^^;;
but to answer your second question, love~love came out during my summer break so it’s stuck with me lol. i love it too much even though, like all seasons, its pretty sucky... i remembered more of season 2 of mcd, i had come in like the middle of s1? and i barely remember s3 haha! so i don’t really have a favorite, it’s more scenes that i like :)
i made changes for fun mostly, some made more sense and some characters had potential and i wanted to explore it on my own? idk, i had problems and went “i can do better than this >:” after seeing a bunch of problems and started writing lol
jenny, she/her
so jenny used to be a scene girl. her bangs. it makes sense
her bangs still hold the shape, she’s still trying to get them back to what they were in college
jenny has her ears pierced
later in life she gets her tongue pierced as well
she also gets a spray tan every now and then
forgot to say! i used to think she got a spray tan! ^^;;
alloace
jenny is pretty tall
she likes guys with long hair and girls with short hair
sometimes, when first introducing people and she’s by cathy/betty she goes by jen
they all do this to confuse less people, so it’s jen, cath, and bet. betty didn’t know why the two were laughing so much and stopped later once she heard how funny it was
her birthday is in fall
however. she is a winter nut
diana, she/he/they
got his eyebrow/ears pierced
she has a high pain tolerance
also gets a tongue piercing/nose stud later
became friends with jen/cathy/betty before college
cathy thought diana had a crush on her and tried to convince the other two of this
they didn’t believe this and still hung out with diana, but didn’t tell cathy about it
bi :)
also has a fall bday ^v^
sometimes goes by dian
got a kick out of how much ken was freaking out about this and kept it to annoy them </2
made friends with terra, zane, and got ken to join. they like to do mini “competitions” as zane likes to call them
they’re usually dumb small stuff that makes everyone sick with laughter as zane tries to get everyone back on track
about the same height as terra
has an old stick-and-poke from junior high
it’s a crescent moon on their wrist :)
got the ear piercing from the same friend from that day!
short hair, likes to keep a long strip because of his mom and braids it
extra nice to aaron if she sees him
knows it’s very visible that the guy could be blown down at this point by a harsh breath in his direction
wanted to play kind-of-therapist to try and help, realized that there was stuff that needed a professional, jay/gene have come to the cafe to check up on him with dian
also doesn’t have a crush on him, can sense that he doesn’t like women and gets a kick out of how protective cathy is of him and how jenny acts around him
doesn’t say anything to them but has a running bet of who will find out about his bf first with ken
{forgot i wrote this, “lame gay and lesbully ken/diana” lol
too funny to not include}
hangs out with jay, ken, and mac in aarons room when he doesn’t have class
sometimes betty joins, sometimes gene joins- it’s always a toss up
makes jewelry for a living after college, made some small stuff and sold it online
betty, she/her {my favorite. the only character ever <2}
mei’fwa betty real!!! {or fel’ine if you’re going with my stuff ^ ^}
or at least part mei’fwa/fel’ine
ears pierced :)
gets more piercings after college, and works in a tattoo/piercing parlor
non-sam aroace :)
spring birthday
hangs out in a mini-group with jay, mac, and terra on the grass for lunch on sunny days
same height as mac
not sure how long her hair is, it’s giving me trouble ;;
i’ve narrowed it down to short, or long with a different coloring/style
can cut hair
strong 💪
she apprehended cathy. betty works out B)
likesto bake with nana and jay
cadenza and zoey like to come over as well
when kiki can make it she tries to give tips on some animal safe treats :)
friends with miaki, reece, and kai after college too
very friend oriented :)
katelyn, garroth, ivy, lillian, and terra were also her friends in college
still has the numbers for lillian and ivy and sometimes texts, kate/garroth don’t really talk with her anymore
very capybara like. good for her :)
ken, he/they
{since it didn’t really add anything to the story, ken is just human. him being a werewolf didn’t really come up in the series and it felt like a weird jess thing yknow?}
zane still has his phone number
they have gotten high after college and started talking about their hatred for capitalism and whatever bugged them
aaron found them one night and joined
achillean, polyamorous, and nonbinary
tried to have a pet bird in the dorms, along with ferrets, rats, mice, and a bunch of bugs. they were not happy with ken
mid-back hair length
becomes friends with gene/zenix after hanging out with gene so much through aaron, meets sasha and they’re all friends :)
favorite color is dark teal, so that’s what he dyed his hair
it’s naturally black
likes to jokingly pick on jay, mac, and betty
they don’t mind, they just bring up the one time he chugged a pot of coffee and let it go on accident into the sink and reached for a knife as it shattered
hangs out with lucinda/sasha and they like to watch movies together and share story ideas they’ve had after college

random question but i was thinking about lexa’s iconic makeup and god it annoys me to freaking hell that the makeup department had no idea how to recreate the war paint. like either they had different artists doing that every time or smth because you can clearly tell the difference from S2 to S3. not that we saw it that much in S3, but i think it was still pretty good in 3x04 during lexa and roan’s fight. in S3 finale tho ahhhh what was that?? it was too dark?? and don’t let me start with S7 finale when she came back lol what on earth was that makeup? It was so different and literally made her look like someone else. In 4 years they completely forgot how her war paint ACTUALLY looked 💀 at first i thought they purposely wanted to make god!lexa look older, and i kinda still stand with that bc adc didn’t look mature AT ALL in feb/march 2020, we saw her taking pics and selfies until like 2021 and she still had her baby face so it’s almost like they wanted god!lexa to look mature/older to emphasize she was a goddess. Either that or as i said, they just tried to copy the makeup and faaaailed. it wasn’t even that much of time that had passed, 4 years is not that much. they were lazy. and same thing happened with her hair, idk if you noticed but it was braided differently, it was thicker. again, they put the minimum effort. thank god adc saved it all with her performance.
Consistency was never their forte, Lexa's arm tattoo has a whole new section added from season 2 to season 3, i think at some point they mess up which one of Raven's legs is injured and Emori's tattoo that before was massive shrinks with time. This is like, basic shit that the characters carry consistently with them because when it comes to the war paint you can somewhat excuse that well, Lexa is not gonna be able to repeat the same war paint opacity and format every damn time she needs to use it.
I do agree the war paint has scenes when it looks great and other times is looks just awful like they did it in a hurry. I hate the way it looks in s2 when Lexa and Clarke are informing the army of what is going to happen at mount weather and at the s3 finale too.
I do disagree that Alycia looked older because of the make up. In 2019/2020 Alycia was already looking much more grown up than she was when she was playing Lexa, I think just looking at selfies its harder to tell but when you put someone back in a characters costume she hasnt tried since she was 22 being 26 theres gonna be a difference, Alycia didnt look anything like the baby faced Lexa we saw first on the screen. I do think it was probably a rushed job because they probably only had for a couple of days and things were closing down due to covid.
The show already has so many sins, might as well include hair and makeup (and wardrobe, i have so many fights to pick with the damn wardrobe on this show).

hiii so I know your post about how ridiculous the growing number of anti-zuko takes are was from months ago, but I somehow ran into a lot of them the other day and your post was a very necessary palette cleanser so. first of all thank you for that!! though you did mention that there’s 2 instances where you don’t think zuko’s particularly well-written, and I’m really curious as to what those are if you’d like to share
Ah, thank you Anon, that's so nice to hear. I get irrationally worked up when I see bad Zuko and Toph takes so that rant kinda just got away from me hahah
And yes, there are only 2 things I would rewrite about Zuko's entire arc. The first is a minor scene from the finale that quite frankly, didn’t need to be there at all? I think it was Br*ke’s attempt at humour and it makes me want to pull my hair out because the logic of writing that scene is beyond me. When they’re looking for Aang, Toph is talking about her relationship with her parents (or lack thereof) and Zuko just makes a face and basically tells her to shut up?????????? Have these men watched their own show I’m so–
Literally in the previous episode Toph and Zuko have a heart to heart about Iroh’s love for him, but suddenly let’s play Toph’s trauma up for laughs I’m actually getting so heated rn lmao. The overdramatic violins playing while she talks and the offhanded “worst field trip ever” while Zuko walks away, wow such writing much wow. How many decisions were made to write, animate, and include that in the final cut, and what did it add to the story? Jackshit, and it’s very uncharacteristic for Zuko, who has been nothing but empathetic and caring for a season and a half, so go figure.
The second one. sigh. I don’t even want to talk about it because someone will def jump on the bullshit narrative of me being a dumb salty ZK shipper. So I’m gonna give yet another disclaimer for this fandom. I’ve answered plenty of asks about this in the past too, and I’ve made it very clear that my feelings about the canon ships (and certain characters) were not affected by my love for Zutara, rather it was the other way round. While watching the show I certainly thought that there was a lot in the writing that implied Zutara, it wasn’t until I sat with the show for a couple of weeks that I realised actually really love the ship. I was angry at the end kisses and stand by the fact that no one should’ve kissed and coupled up, but the fact that it was those two…guys I just. Who allowed these men to write for television I’m crying.
Anyone who’s been here a while knows that I’m not much of a shipper and I’ve never shipped a non-canon ship before because I’m not one of those people who goes out of their way to find hidden romantic subtext between two characters who so much as exist in the same space. I’d much rather explore other relationship dynamics, and tend to get quite bored by romance in general.
So yeah, I stand by the fact that the two canon couples are completely antithetical to the show’s message, and ultimately Br*ke’s fixation on the other one is what led to the show’s end and their protagonist being absolute trash. Talking specifically about Ma/iko tho. Like. The whole point of making them date at the start of S3 was to show us how Zuko doesn’t fit into that life anymore and how it brings out the worst in him???? It was to show us how much he’s changed and how M/ai represents the core FN imperialistic ideologies and how Zuko disagrees with it on a fundamental level???????????? She literally calls him a traitor for defecting, like what. And then suddenly “she loves him more than she fears Azula” (oh lordy I could go on for hours about how that was another completely fucking wasted opportunity to explore an interesting dynamic between the FN girls. And also how that line makes no sense for Mai, and if anyone was scared of Azula, it was Ty Lee but oh well). And then cut to the end scene and they’re making out again without having addressed any of the actual issues in their relationship??? Cool. I hate it here. Reach for your dreams kids, cuz if these men can be successful “writers”, you can do anything!!!!
