11. There is a really lovely moon outside tonight that you find yourself admiring, but if you would just turn around you would find someone admiring you.

Annon my lovely annon how does it feel to have such a wonderful beautiful brain, this is perhaps the most perfect line up of characters for this prompt. I'm happy you like my writing and really hope you like this.

notes: they/them used for Yuu, I can't speak French so none of that for Rook, sorry I do not trust google translate. So many references to music in this one... the other event quests can be found on my masterlist.

Trey

If Trey had to pick something about himself he liked he would probably pick his height. It made certain things easier, like walking through crowds and looking at things in the far off distance. It makes these little emotions he has when he sees you easier to deal with, he can always excuse himself and observe from afar. Trey prides himself on being realistic about these sorts of things, prides himself on his restraint and ability to keep things calm.

But it's hard to deny the truth. Painful even. He can feel the ache even before he sees you, his hand even twitches with the desire to reach out and break your reverie. But he can't, you aren't exactly alone, you walked out on to the balcony with Ace and Deuce close at your heels. They're joking with you, distracting you from the moon and stars he thinks you wanted to observe, but you can't seem to bring yourself to be annoyed with them. That's fine, Trey can be annoyed enough for you both. He would never call himself "massive" but he is certainly blessed with a broad set of shoulders.

And an exceptionally creepy (Rook had insisted it was fancy, très magnifique) bird mask that sends the dynamic duo fleeing back to the ballroom "abandoning" you to your fate. He would be tempted to laugh but he does not want to talk to you just yet. You shake your head in amused affection, relaxing onto the railing and letting some of the night's tension roll off your shoulders. He does the same, trying to give you space but not avoiding you when you move closer.

"The moon is beautiful tonight." Trey says after he's let you have your moment, surprised when you turn to him with a flustered look on your face. "That's what you came here to look at, right?" You cough, not helping his certainty but the shy smile that flickers onto your face suggests he has not made a misstep, not exactly anyway.

"It's a nice night." You say. "Stay with me, won't you?" There's emotion to the request he's tempted to read into. Tempted to classify as the same longing he feels and barely swallows when he looks into your eyes.

"I'll stay as long as you like." He says softly, and tries not to smile too much when you lean your head onto his shoulder.

Jamil

He is in love. You look like a ridiculous child and he is in love, Jamil is smiling at every move you make like he is actually happy for once. It's all he can do to pull himself away from his hiding place out to the courtyard you have decided to to stargaze in, as much as he wants to continue admiring you he would rather no one else see him in this horrifying mood.

"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie~" You are dancing, he thinks, but it looks more like you are jumping trying to catch the moon in your hands, the rest of your silly song devolving into fits of giggles as you twirl, obsessing over the way the fabric of your costume follows you as you twirl. "Jamil!" You notice him the second he joins you, your hands immediately reach out for his. He lets you take him, lets you guide him in a jerky series of movements he knows aren't real dance moves. You're happy, and seeing him has made you happier.

"Just what are you doing?" He's almost laughing himself now, letting you guide him through your made up dance. "Wouldn't you rather be back in the ballroom?" You hum and shake your head.

"It's too busy in there, I wanted to look at the moon." Your dance slows to a gentle sway, Jamil takes advantage of the lull to take control of the flow, guiding you into a more structured dance. The silver light seems to kiss you, as if the moon is happy you came to look at her. Too bad, Jamil doesn't intend to let your attention wander back her way.

"You know, the view of the moon from Scarabia is especially beautiful, perhaps you would like a change of scenery when you're ready to leave." Jamil helps you twirl your costume, doing his best to guide you back towards the ballroom. He might have been spending his time hiding among the furniture of the ballroom, but he had a plan for tonight. One that involved you wrapped around his finger and waltzing well into the hours of the morning, and while he is not exactly picky about where-

He would very much like everyone to see just where you are ending your night.

Rook

The music in the ballroom drowns the tiny hymn that comes from the balcony. Even if anyone else had been looking for it, they would have found it impossible to hear, but Rook is no casual observer. To the casual observer, Rook is merely standing near the windows and their curtains, the Prefect's strange tune barely recognizable even there.

But then recognizable is not the right word. Rook highly doubts anyone in this world other than him had heard this song.

Initially you had walked onto this balcony because Grim had mentioned seeing a piano there earlier and that had struck you as odd. Why stick a piano out on a balcony if there was going to be a ball with live music inside the actual ballroom why stick an instrument out in the cold? You had thought it would look lonely, but the moon has decided to make it look romantic. Seeing no one around you settle yourself at the keys. And begin to try and play along with the tune in your head.

Rook holds himself back from going to you, telling himself to wait until you look his way, but you don't. You are content to sit and pluck at the piano, seeking the keys that match the memory of another world, another moon. He waits and waits, but still you only idly glance up at the night sky, and never his direction.

"What sweet torture," he murmurs into his mask "to be so ignored by such a perfect sight." As the music finds a stride you still hum, to his great relief. The pitch and quality of the melody matters little when observing someone's most private reflections. What matters is the far away look in their eye, the pride with which they rest their finished fingers on the keys and think aloud some words unlikely to be theirs but fitting all the same.

"Their song interweaves melancholy with moonlight, quiet moonlight so sad and lovely that it makes birds dream in their trees, while fountains sob in ecstasy..."* Your eyes finally turn his way and you startle. He pries his mask free from his face to reassure you of your safety; to you, it is like he has appeared from thin air, but you know him well enough that your surprised smile is more a courtesy than genuine surprise.

"Just how long have you been here Rook?" Your fingers twitch with embarrassment at the keys.

"I was lured here the moment you began to sing my lovely trickster." He bows, mask placed over his heart in genuine devotion. "Truly the power the your soul's voice has to command my steps is frightening." You sigh, embarrassment twinged with joy as you move yourself to make room for him by your side.

"Well then why don't you sit next to me and listen to just how badly I can butcher this piece." He very much doubts you could do such a thing, but who is he to deny your every request?

"My Trickster, I would love nothing more save you."

I can't put into words how much I love every single one of you for your support. No matter if you like one fic of mine or my whole blog, no matter if you write me anon or leave a comment. Let me tell you that I appreciate every minor interaction with the stuff I create over here 🤍

When I started this blog in September (I think lol) I was so scared of sharing my thoughts. But you were supportive right from the start, encouraging me to follow my ideas even in times I didn't feel like it. You might not even know how much you helped me through dark times, how much your constant support lifted me up and helped me getting over the shit that happened 2023 (like Shibuya damn). You have become such an important variable in my life that this blog is literally like a baby to me 😭

in love with hob incubating baby dreams and nightmares... may i add. they're dreamthings, they can't follow hob out of the dreaming -- so hob's only pregnant when he's in the dreaming. which means he can be constantly pregnant without it causing problems in his life. he can go about his days lecturing as normal, even if he tends to keep a hand resting over his belly because he never quite shakes the awareness that there's something there. and, of course, the second he even starts to daydream he can feel dream's latest creation growing happily inside him.

and hey, that whole thing about dreams not surviving in the waking but nightmares thriving... maybe the baby nightmares, when they're almost to term, can start following hob out of the dreaming. just a little, they're too young to manifest much of themselves physically, but hob will sometimes wake up with the sweetest little swell to his belly. that's when he knows he's in for a very distracted day -- and that it won't be long until he gives birth again and gets to learn what dream's going to grow in him next.

I'm just so obsessed with this concept honestly??? Let Hob be pregnant with his baby nightmares and let them sometimes slip through into the waking world with him! Let him proudly walk around with his belly curving oh so slightly outwards while the nightmare tumbles around inside him and generally makes itself as much of a distraction as possible (fulfilling it's function already, bless it, Hob is so proud).

I'm just thinking about Hob’s friends teasing him about going to hard on the beer because he's obviously bloated, and Hob gets caught somewhere between a smirk and blush. The public humiliation of it all just turns him on a lot.

He always gets such a thrill as he wonders what the dream or nightmare will be this time. The birth process is always different, every time, and Dream always somehow manages to make it into something erotic. It's just a nice moment for them to spend together. A very nice and slightly odd couple's activity.

(Hob’s friends can never quite work out how he goes from looking, well... pregnant, to normal again. Another one of his strange little quirks, bless him)

2023 Character Wrapped

From what I've gathered, the rules are just list your top 9 characters from the year? Right? I will put most of these under a cut to save the timeline.

#1. Paul Strickland

If anyone is surprised by my number one, you must be new here. I am the self declared number one paul stan and he IS the moment. he IS the year. and he IS the number 1 in my heart. I can't wait to bless everyone in the tag with more Paul sets during our collective rewatch in january.

#2. Henry from RWRB

Listen, I've left out the surnames cause who can keep track? especially since the book and movie have different ones lol. but I liked the book when I read it ages ago. I thought the film was a fun book to movie adaptation. and Nicholas Galitzine was the perfect Henry.

#3. The various tea dragons from the Tea Dragon Society series by K. O'Neill.

I read the 2nd book in this series this year: The Tea Dragon Festival. This series is just so lovely and cozy. It has dragons that grow tea and they're fucking adorable. LOOK AT THEM! (pictures are from this post in which K. O'Neill pairs each zodiac sign with a dragon!)

#4. Chidi Anagonye

2023 was the year I finally finished The Good Place. and Chidi... oh Chidi. I want to bundle him up and keep him and his anxiety safe in my pocket. but I also want to sit down and have a book club with him. and talk about how much better almond milk is. I bawled like a baby watching the finale episode.

#5. Mickey Milkovich

2023 was also the year I did a rewatch of Mickey's storyline from Shameless from the beginning and then got caught up on the seasons I never watched. The character growth in Mickey was so wonderful to revisit and Noel Fisher was one of the best things to happen to that show, fight me on it.

#6. Josie from Bottoms

If you haven't seen Bottoms yet... what are you doing with your life? it's a queer classic and it just came out. I don't make the rules its just true. and Ayo was fucking brilliant as Josie.

#7. TK Strand

TK will probably forever be somewhere on this kinda list. he's my fave little blorbo or whatever weird internet term we're using these days. 2023 wasn't my fave year for TK or Tarlos plots, that's for sure... but he was still his adorable, brave, strong self throughout it all.

#8. Anakin Skywalker

The return of my teen obsession: Hayden Christensen, everyone. He was great as Vader in the Obi-Wan show but this year coming back as Anakin... be still my heart. The flashback episode was some of my favorite star wars stuff in ages and wooo boy I loved getting to see live action clone wars Anakin.

#9. Garlic from the Garlic & the Vampire and Garlic & the Witch by Bree Paulson

I mean… look at her! a cute little anthropomorphic clove of garlic with anxiety. What’s not to love about her?

Some honorable mentions:

5 things that make me happy:

My friends.

Cheesy I know but over the past few years I've had a hard time making and keeping friends and the few i do have I love with my whole heart. Y'all fucking rule and make me so happy when we play games and hang out or even when you just talk about your interests and days <3

My pets.

Same vein as the first one but i can't not!! Phoenix, Ithildin, and Beetle Bounce- despite getting on my nerves from time to time- make me smile with their antics. Phe gives the biggest tail wags when we take her for a walk, Thil has this strange obsession with the bathtub despite being upset when you turn the water on, and Beebs has taken to coming and sleeping on my lap more and more and its the most blessed thing in the whole world.

Time loops.

I've been really indulging myself in my special interest for a hot bit now and i gotta say. Despite Time loops emotionally destroying me sometimes I am also my happiest/most excited when i get to talk about them or enjoy things dedicated to them!!! :D

Creative projects.

I've had writer's and art block for a few months now but working on my own creative projects brings me genuine joy when they work out. Like the comic i did, yeah i was stressed a little when i was making it but when it was done I had never been prouder of myself in that moment. It was such a big project - most big projects i get frustrated and drop- but this one i actually stuck with and I'm so glad i did.

Music. (Specifically my OC playlists I've carefully curated.)

Nothing makes me happier than finding a song that's perfect for an OC and watching the playlist grow! It's genuinely really fucking fun to explore a character's story by finding songs related to either their backstory or the story events they're currently going through!!!

joelskall is so deep in my brain... I'm thinking about Iskall's first memory of Joel being "oh no he's hot..." or something like that. Him just appreciating how amazing Joel looks. He never met a man, haven't really got a chance to talk to him yet, but the way he handles himself, how he moves and how he talks, subconciously, were stuck in Iskall's mind.

I want him to realize that he fell for Joel while talking to Stress. They're having another silly friendly arfument again and it goes about something to do with Iskall bothering Joel for no reason, and in the heat of them overtalking each other he confesses that he, in fact, does find Joel pretty. Ofc Stress won't let that slide. Whatever they were arguing about was put aside so that she can get more info out of poor Iskall and his feelings. lol.

Anyway he denies whatever he said. Sure the man looks nice, doesn't mean Iskall's into him or anything. Surely he annoys him a lot, but not because he wants to be near, he's a new guy after all! And he made himself stuck at his base while working on it, making it prettier. Not that it has anything to do with him admiring how amazing Joel is in everything he does. Anyway, what?

Iskall pretty much leaves the place still in denial, but he has a long time to think on that. Still in denial whenever he and Joel have to hang out next time, still in denial when he bothers him again, making one million excuses about why he is NOT in love with the guy and that he just finds him charming! Maybe he does a little! That's all! And he's new after all, gotta get to know him!

...that goes poorly, actually. Because next time Iskall visits, Joel shows him the statue he built in a shrine for his wife. Of his wife, with a little Joel she's holding. THE FUCK YOU MEAN HE HAS A WIFE??? those were first words Stress hears when Iskall comes to her base, back from Joel's. She says she assumed he knew, seeing as lots of other hermits do. He didn't tho. And that starts to stress him out even more. He overthinks about if having the feelings he has is even normal(he almost accepted it, trust), he overthinks the entire bit Joel has with Etho and being obsessed, he re-thinks all the moments Etho and Joel had and the neck kissing bit and how in the world is this all ok when HE'S MARRIED. Iskall remembers Lizzie was there actually when the neck kissing thing started, and she didn't seem to mind? Should he talk about this to somebody? Should he ask??? Would that be too weird???

Luckily, next time he visits Mumbo, who needs some resurce help for his builds, Joel also arrives, so they get to talk. Obviously it starts from just casual hermit stuff, Iskall desperately tries to keep it normal and not say anything weird or stare too much. But the dialogue leads in the right direction, luckily for Iskall.

"How's Lizzie doing? Has she been well?" Mumbo asks. Bless him.

"Yea she's alright, tho we haven't been seeing each other much since I'm mostly here with you guys. Been missing her a bit quite honestly."

So the convo led to him and Lizzie. Iskall just hopes and prays he didn't ask anything weird during that, but judging by Mumbo's reactions (which were absent) he did great. AND he managed to find out stuff. He thinks. Joel seems to not mind Lizzie meeting people while he's away, same with Lizzie being ok with Joel hanging out with hermits here. Hence the entire thing he has with Etho. What Iskall is sure of now - Joel is very much open to any potential thing.

Wait. WHY DID ISKALL EVEN HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THIS??? HE DOESN'T HAVE FEELINGS FOR HIM!!... does he?

This is where he pretty much accepted it. Mostly. He tried not to think about it much(tho it was hard) but now that he knows Joel is open to things... maybe made Iskall quite... happy. Excited even. Poor Pearl had to deal with him buying an entire stack of Joel's stamps. Good for her I guess, since she got the money for it. So now, even tho Joel is away, and Iskall has to ponder even more about what he wants to do with himself - it's exciting to see what's coming.

ok I didn't mean to write this all but they HAVE BEEN IN MY HEAD FOR. A WHILE. mostly Iskall being a menace bc he doesn't know how to express his feelings and Joel being confuse at the beginning but starting to get into it. Two unhinged types of men amiright. Sorry for typos if there are any it's 4 am and my eyeballs hurt.

In addition to the fandoms listed above I am also EXTREMELY autistic about music—I have a background in piano/classical singing and have been in choirs all my life since 4th grade. I have been bestowed with the blessed (and sometimes cursed) combination of absolute pitch as well as pitch-color synesthesia. The former is the ability to identify pitches without a reference note and the latter is a phenomenon where my brain associates certain musical keys with certain colors, temperatures and scenery among other things. It is a HUGE special interest of mine—ask me questions about it and I will literally love you until the end of time I'm serious. Even if it's as simple as sending me a song and asking what color it is or asking me for thoughts on video game OSTs because I have a LOT

A follow-up to the above point: I love all things music theory and analysis and whatnot but in my excitement I have a tendency to get a bit TOO technical sometimes. Jax Teller and Michael Gray would haaaaaate each other. The kicker would be, though, that they would hate each other for the traits that they have in common. They're slippery little fucks who keep secrets and try to play everyone and it would drive them each absolutely insane.

Tommy Shelby would look at the chaotic found family of the Sons and he would be impressed but also so confused as to how they've operated successfully for so long. He would not be taking advice from any of them because he's Tommy Shelby but he would have a strange sort of respect for them as a whole. Game recognizes game.

Chucky and Alfie hanging out together? Shut up. I love them already. Alfie would think that he is sooooo fucking weird but he also wouldn't ever turn his back on him either. Alfie likes weird. He gets weird. The two of them are just on the outside of everything but still in the know. Kindred spirits. Bless 'em.

Oh (potential spoiler alert because idk how far into Peaky you are) but I reblogged This Post awhile back which draws some really interesting parallels between Tommy Shelby and Jax Teller and I think there is a lot to be said there about that. I think that their characters would have a very interesting dynamic if you sat them down at the table across from each other.

Olive and Willow! 🫒📙🍵🌿✨️🍞🔪🫀

Meet my two OC'S, Olive and Willow. These two are from a project that I'm currently working on. I've been working on this for a while now and I'm super happy with how this sketch sheet turned out :')

A little more information (even though you'll be seeing them more often from now on)

Olive 🫒✏️📙🍵🔪🫀✨️

Is a hazard to herself. They/them/she/her. Olive as in the colour and yes, olives. Greasy hair and a deadpan stare. Tattoos! So, so many tattoos, but also the reason why she is broke. They really like bread and pasta and listen to their music so loudly that they'll probably go deaf one day because of it. Loves hair dye. Currently a student. At the moment, Olive is the main character, but we shall see what the future holds. She has an unhealthy relationship with a certain someone and a strange obsession with knives. They love studying anatomy and enjoy old films. Cup Noodles keep her alive, bless. She may seem chaotic but is actually a neat freak and hates dust and clutter. Likes collecting small objects and trinkets, though.

Willow 🌿🍞☕️🍰🐈‍⬛✨️

Willow goes by many names (he knows many people, who call him by different names). He is actually a tom cat. His namesake is the taylor swift song, Willow. Some of his other names include Asmodeus, Soy Sauce, Coffee, Cat, Judas, and Milo. There was a girl who tried calling him Jiji once, like the cat from Kiki's Delivery Service. He can actually speak, but chooses not to. He will only speak occasionally. He is the size of a small dog, which makes him pretty large for a cat.

I originally sketched the two olive sketches in my sketchbook (traditional) and I painted them in krita. I love adding colour palettes/swatches to everything, they look so pretty 🥺🥺🥺 makes me so happy >:(((

I can't wait to study these guys more, and do some sheets for my other OC's. I don't really post oc stuff on here, but I'm wanting to bring them out more often. I just think they're really neat and I'm really fond of them.

Literally the only Gosling film I'd ever seen before Barbie was Remember the Titans like 25 years ago.

Jesus that makes me feel old. I am. Christ.

Working my way through belatedly so imma just use this post to keep track of thoughts and feelings

The Gray Man: fucking loved it so much??? Murder weapon turned unwilling father figure??? Sad grumpy dads are my one trope to rule them all, particularly when bound with found family. I'd wanna play checkers with Six. Like the characters were super compelling to me, the way they showed development and how everything felt character driven to me? And there were such good unspoken implications that also expanded on these characters without burdening the storytelling. AND the lack of gore!!!! This was a super violent movie and it only got a PG-13 because you literally don't need to show that shit on a screen. Bless

The Nice Guys: I expected to be aced out by the whole porno thing, but it was more nudity with implications than *the do* and I guess that didn't cross the line for me. And honestly pretty mild at that. The plot has holes. So many holes. Russell Crowe's accent was distracting. And crazily, I didn't really care about any of that, because the characters and their dynamics and chemistry were just chef's kiss. I love Holland? And I love that he is a disaster. I would not like him in person. There is a little gore at the end, but if you consider physics, it's not realistic at all (crazy how you can convey a visual without having to emotionally scar your audience, who knew???). This is the only one I have re-watched so far, and now have the book so that I can consume my comfort in multiple forms.

La La Land: idk. The music was good. Ryan walks some kind of way. I was VERY impressed with his piano skills. (I was raised by a pianist, so I have to notice that stuff, which makes me sound pretentious I'm so sorry). Idk what happened. I have no idea what the message was, or if there even was one. It seemed like it was trying to have one?? But like "you can either fall in love, follow your dreams, or be successful, but only two out of three. And if you get rid of one, you're guaranteed to get the others." Idk. Very meh, probably won't watch again except for specifically the piano playing.

Lars and the Real Girl: tbh my only context for this movie was an episode of Pushing Daisies where a delusional guy used his doll to murder someone, so. I did not have high expectations. Also had no idea RG had anything to do with it. *And* my tolerance level for secondhand embarrassment is on the fucking floor so I expected to have to turn it off. I didn't. Fuck. This movie was so wholesome???? The treatment of a mental illness was so supportive and positive??? (Except for the touch thing, that was... Let people not want to be touched!)

The Notebook: hi, I hated the Notebook. I don't get the hype, I don't know why people treat it like the ultimate romance. Man coerces a girl into a date by threatening to kill himself, she retaliates by publicly humiliating him. They scream at each other a lot. Poor communication. Obsessive behavior?? Literally so creepy??? Anyway they're terrible for each other and it's an unhealthy relationship. Ryan with brown eyes. Only rewatching if it's to roast and drink.

Half Nelson: made me uncomfy, but that was the point, right? It's a white savior movie but it's about being a white savior movie. The racial subtext of a white guy stepping in inappropriately and what the fallout of that is; stack on the nuance of addiction, male entitlement. How powerful of a moment for Drey to ask "will I end up like my brother" and Dan being the one to make her so. (Also the performance by Shareeka Epps? Spellbinding.) The writer who became a teacher and then never got around to writing? Real. So was the fact that nothing happened professionally after he did what he did to his coworker. Very pre-Me Too. Anthony Mackey was both the most charismatic and, somehow, most responsible character in the entire thing. My only actual beef is the camera work. This last bit is petty - they finally gave me a RG character with a cat, and the cat dies (but, very single white bachelor to name him Dave omg.)

Crazy, Stupid Love: uhhhhh the children involved in this were... this wasn't good. There could have been good lessons for them (the son with consent maybe??) (*not* depicting a teenage girl giving suggestive photos to a child???) but there weren't. There were good aspects in the story, don't get me wrong: exploring relationships, trying to find your identity outside of just 'who you're married to'. I get it. Everything that wasn't actively trying to teach a lesson was funny. The parts that were meant to be heartfelt, did not age well and also probably weren't great to begin with. Maybe that's the male gaze idk. I wanted more of Jacob and Cal's actual relationship, because what was being suggested between the lines was way more interesting to me than the actual plot. Jacob with the family/bonding with Cal's kids completely off-screen, are you kidding me? Cal being a really weird, awkward stand-in for Jacob's father? Jacob accidentally being written demi-romantic and having a crisis about it? I'd love someone to remake this movie. Preferably women-directed. [But I am obsessed with the second Jacob heard David's name and had zero hesitation, just ring off 'we doin this'. He's a real one.]

Can you tell I have feelings about overuse of sex and gore? Esp how it's been the last few years? Ugh. Like I want to watch Drive bc it sounds like it's supposed to be an ✨iconic✨ role for him but I get squicked out by chunks/organs and stuff and I have no idea how graphic it is. Can we go back to shit being implied, off screen, or at least artistic again???

I want to talk about all the Scrybes' Yandere types, I do, and maybe it's because I'm crazy, but I cannot think of P03's type. I cannot. I don't think he is one? He doesn't seem as emotionally attached and invested in the player. He doesn't... He doesn't care as much about you the player, more the concept of a player in general, someone who plays his game, not you a gamer he is playing with.

If someone else has P03 Yandere type concept hit me up. Send me the post, send me an ask, DM me, do not care, just lemme know.

This might get long so everyone else is under the cut. Fair warning for obsession and stalkerish behaviors. Typical Yandere stuff, other than harming of reader.

Leshy

We'll start easy because he's the one I've talked about before.

Leshy is obsessed with you from the moment you sit down at his table. You are his player, and he loves his player, and his mind will tell him you love him back.

He may be the only one with any sense that how he feels and how he acts is wrong, that he's wrong for loving you so wholly so quickly knowing so little about you. He knows his sense of love is twisted, that keeping you here, in his cabin, alone, to play his games with him forever is not correct, that how tightly he grips onto you as his saving grace is terrible.

But he can't stop loving you so much with ever game.

Leshy wants to know everything about you. Everything. Every minor detail, every minute little aspect of you, he wants to commit to memory.

By your third game he knows your favorite card. He knows your least favorite card. He knows your strategy and favorite sigil and how you react to a losing match. But it’s not enough, it’s never enough knowledge, not for him, not if it’s you.

He loves you and he's so scared to love you but he loves you so much so quickly all he wants is for you to stay with him and play with him and never progress, and he knows that's not fair and that's not right, but it doesn't stop him from trying.

At the end of the day, he won't do anything to upset you, his player, the light of his life who could never, ever do anything even remotely wrong. You are the greatest thing to ever walk this earth and you deserve only the ease of every step.

If you wanted to leave, he wouldn't stop you. If you wanted to talk to the other scrybes, or even date them instead of him, he would say nothing. If he is not good enough for you then there is nothing that can be done.

He put his everything into you, and if you were to leave him, he would collapse without the support. He's self destructive, he'd put everything for you, he starves to play his game with you, to keep aesthetics perfect, to keep the scene ever so wonderful. Everything for you.

If you didn't want it, he would not force it on you, but he also would not recover. Without a player he would sleep... sleep and sleep and sleep, never moving or eating or even basking in the sun. He'd sleep. And wait. Alone in the dark. Until another player would come.

Grimora

Grimora is calm. Grimora is smart. But most of all, Grimora is patient. She's caring and nice and unassuming, and she LOVES you, and she is willing to wait for you to love her too.

She's honey sweet, if you want her to be. She's feisty and loud and energetic, if you'd prefer. She can be quiet, she can be calm, she can be rough, she can be loud.

And Grimora is, at her core, patient. An army is not built in a day, love is not won in an hour. She is willing to wait for you to come to her in your own time, solve the puzzle of her crypt and take your seat at her table, whenever you see fit.

She loves her players, for they're just so entertaining, like a pet or a childhood toy kept perfectly mint for years. She'd love to mess with them, watch them struggle in her game, or throw them off guard with flirts followed by teas and jokes.

It's all a game to her, and you her most enriching chess piece.

She'll play the roll you wish for her; A cassanova girlboss to swoop you off your feet. A docile loving grandma to make you teas and wrap you in a blanket. She's a shifter, she can be anything you wish her to be, so long as you stick around with her.

You'd never bore her, though she may think of you no more highly than the knight on her chess board, you're still her FAVORITE and you'll be her favorite so long as she has you playing.

She'd love you dress you up, keep you pretty and clean and well groomed. New clothes every day, brush your hair, wash your face, keep you spick and span and ever so perfect, like a precious doll.

If you wanted to leave, she wouldn't stop you, but she also wouldn't allow you to make it permanent. She'd dress you in something borrowed. Perhaps its cold, so she'd wrap you in her shall, her FAVORITE shall, and oh don't worry about it just bring it back next time you visit. Oh you're going to see Magnificus, well why don't you invite him back for dinner? If you're going to go out, you're going to have a reason to come back. It would be IMPOLITE not to.

She allows social expectations to do her ensnaring for her. She would never keep you locked up, simply remind you to be home on time for supper before you even realized the crypt was your home.

You're her precious little player, and if for some reason you never came home, that'd be quiet all right. Toys are lost all the time. A new one will arrive, eventually. She'll be sure to have plenty of enrichment prepared for her new pet.

Magnificus

Mags feels himself above his own feelings. He seems himself as better than love, better than attachment, better than adoration.

That doesn't stop him from filling his sketches with you, lovely, lonely you, sitting oh so very calmly at his table, before his easel, on his tower and in his land, oh so breath takingly you.

He'd be overwhelmed with his desire to see you. He'd use his vision to see where you would be, and if he would be there, which of course he would always be, right by your side, wherever you were to go.

He'd scrawl you in the margins of his notes, every paper he got his hands on would become you, you you you, until his hand cramped and your visage was burned into his vision.

As far as an actual relationship would go... There wouldn't be one.

He's too prideful to admit his obsession, his ego preventing him from lowering himself to affection. He simply wouldn't do it. Even if you liked him back, spoke out about your feelings, made the move yourself, he would reject you.

And yet he'd never leave you alone.

He doesn't need to know about you, you don't need to know about him, no words need to be said no connection needs to be made, he just needs to be near you, always.

If he could keep you in his tower, he would. Like one of his students, locked away, where you could be alone, where he could see you. His little cadged bird, just for him to witness. His drawings would be nothing compared to having the real thing.

But that would involve facing his feelings, admitting that he needed you by his side to feel whole, feel complete and finished and alive, to truly breath. So he won't. He'll just keep "accidentally" running into you, off island, in the other scrybe's realms, and walk by your side ever so quietly, soaking in your form.

If you were to leave, and never come back, he would go mad slowly forgetting your face. He would destroy all his paintings and morn their loss. He would attempt to recreate him, but his memory would fail. Every vision of the future without you in it would burn and ache like no pain he'd felt before.

And eventually, when another challenger would come, he would tell himself he is better than this. That he is above these feelings of fondness, of adoration and love. And he would not be.

What you need to know in order to be ready for the love you so longingly seek!

An idea that just popped up in my head is a queer teen living in a homophobic area or with homophobic parents, so it is likely that this could be your situation. If it is, I love you, please take care of yourself, love and better days will come, don't worry! But you must wait a while longer until the external world matches your vibration, perhaps you'll have to move, wait until you're safe to go out to the sea. Until then, go with the flow.

50. No place like home (reversed)

This card seems to work perfectly with the previous one, it reminds us that what is familiar isn't always the best, because it keeps us from growing. If you want change, you can't keep going to the same things/people that haven't worked before, it's counterintuitive. It is natural to go back to what's familiar, but try something new. Ask yourself why you feel as you do about/in love? It is time for some introspection. You need to think and identify unhealthy patterns in your love life. Why do you act as you do in a relationship? Identify what in your past has caused this behavior. It won't solve the problem right away, but it's a good first step. Understanding the problem will be validating.

Depending on your belief in how manifestation works, try being mindful of free will! If you don't believe that that is how manifestation works, do as you will, just be in line with your beliefs! It's ok to be a "late bloomer", and it's important to be ready for love, as to not hurt the one you love, and yourself. Being single isn't a sign of "failure", it gives you the time and space to focus on yourself, on your growth, on your healing, on exploring and understanding yourself. Being single can seem like a curse, but it's a blessing, it's what you need right now.

16. All that glitters

Are you being yourself in love? Are they? Don't succumb to the power of superficiality. Either let go of the mask or look beyond theirs! "Imagine that all the glitter is gone. AAAAAAAA OKAY OKAY OKAY I WILL TAKE THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT MY LATEST OBSESSION WITH A CHARACTER (which nobody else seems to like *sobs*)

O//tto O//ctavius my beloved.... I'm gonna go by the 2004 movie timeline so I don't spoil the new spiderman movie for anyone who has not seen it yet :)

if we're going with pre-accident O//tto...

• he's absolutely the sweetest most gentle pred the world has ever seen

• he's already a big man, so imagining him with a tiny has me like... sobbing

• he's so, so careful when holding tinies. and does his best to seem friendly since he's 6'2 and is intimidating to even normal people sometimes

• he's definitely a bit of a shy pred, and is always a little reluctant, but if a prey is willing he won't say no

• but he always asks like. 20 times if it's okay with them first. you gotta be patient with him.

• he's slow when eating someone, always giving them a chance to back out of it if they want; the last thing he wants to do is hold someone against their will

• he doesn't really prefer squirmy prey, he likes it more if they hold still since it can be a little distracting if he's working in his lab or reading

• if he's busy working he'll stop what he's doing every few minutes to check on his prey, making sure that they're alright and seeing if they want out or not

• if his hands aren't busy he's always going to have one resting on his stomach to just... hold whoever is inside of him. He's well aware he's holding them already, but he likes to feel them move under his palm sometimes. To just know that they're alright and that they trust him.

• he gets a bit embarrassed if his stomach is being particularly noisy, and he'll awkwardly cross his arms over his middle to try and muffle it

• if you give this man belly rubs you will break him. He just short-circuits. If you do that to him while he's working he has to just sit down for a moment to gather himself because it's so distracting with how nice it feels. It's a good way to get him to take breaks if he's been working for hours

• he has an awful habit of not eating for large periods of time while he's in his lab, so to have someone willing to stay inside of him until he has time to stop and properly eat is definitely a blessing

• he won't admit it but he likes larger prey

• he's already got a bit of paunch so like. normally prey aren't even visible on him. But when there's a prey large enough to make a bump in his middle? He loves it.

Now, post-accident O//tto is something a bit different...

• he's not as caring or gentle with his mind as muddled as it is by the A.I.

• he's still careful with his prey, of course, he's not going to go out of his way to intentionally hurt them; but he's considerably more rough

• at that point he no longer cares if his prey is willing, he'll just snack on whoever he wants without care (it's usually civilian hosteges)

•his habit of not eating for long periods of time has gotten considerably worse, to where it causes him some serious hunger pains.

• he doesn't really eat prey very often anymore, and when he does it's usually because he's too busy working on rebuilding his fusion reactor to go and eat any proper food, and he needs something to keep his stomach full and to stop those annoying hunger pains so he can focus. as a bonus, he doesn't even have to bother with tying them down to a chair or anything since there's no way they're escaping from him that way. Two birds with one stone and all that.

• he doesn't care how much his prey struggles or begs anymore, but he'll start to get snippy and tell them to hold still if it's too distracting.

• once in a blue moon, though, all of that thrashing and begging will be enough to snap him out of the A.I.'s control for a long enough period for him to cough them up and get them away from himself. he feels awful whenever that happens, but after a little while he loses that little bit of control again

• he no longer cares if his stomach is noisy, and in fact he'll use it to his advantage to taunt and get information from any captives he has by pressing them against the outside of his stomach as a threat of "you'll end up in there if you don't start talking"

• he still has a favor for larger prey, it's one of the few things that didn't change about him with his mind being scrambled. However, due to the metal belt being fused around his middle, he's definitely limited on exactly how much larger said prey can be

• but boy does he push that limit...

• any poor soul who he eats is gonna end up a little constricted because of the metal, so there's no real room to stretch

• he does find it annoying that he can no longer press at his prey with his hand though. It's still a habit for him even if he can't feel anything past the metal brace

I'll be honest, I usually say something nice about the past month here and do a little thing about how much I loved the fics I read and look forward to sharing what I loved about them them with you now, but I barely survived August, y'all. I don't think my brain actually did survive it completely. Please know the few fics I did manage to finish reading absolutely 100% helped me keep what little sanity I have left. So, authors? I'm raising a massive fucking glass to all of you. I love you more than you can ever know lol

August's podcast has finally arrived! It only took three attempts at recording to finally be completed without any massive issues and here we are. Whew. It feels great to have had that time to talk in some more depth about what I loved about each fic, so I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy making it.

Can't Buy My Love, Can Buy Me Dinner by @ladyaj-13 / LadyAJ_13 (10k, G, Harry/Louis, Uni AU, Enemies to Lovers, kind of, flashbacks, Zouis friendship, This fic is so fun and simple but also not at the same time, the emotions and motivations for everyone is so complex and real, it makes it so what could be an easily cliche and silly fic actually has so much depth and heart to it, I can't even begin to explain just please read it)

Until That Day by @kingsofeverything / kingsofeverything (45k, E, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, Runaway Bride AU, Enemies to Lovers, Established Narry but endgame Larry, Newspaper Columnist Louis, Baker Harry, Sarah and Mitch are Harry's best friends and omg I love them SO MUCH in this fic, The secondary characters bring so much color and flavor to this if that makes sense, The adaptations that were made to update the movie and make it British were incredible, I loved them so much and appreciated the adjustments that were made, it made it so Harry and the fic had more depth and a bit more realistic resolutions, plus harry's family was a larger part of it and his nan omggggg, anyway i devoured this fic in a night instead of sleeping so, a+ 10 out of 10 would recommend)

The Rest Of My Life by @reminiscingintherain / reminiscingintherain (11k, M, Niall/Bressie, Heartbreak Weather fest, Song Fic, Based on Black and White, meet cute, age difference, size difference, Canon Compliant for the most part? I think?, Flirting, It kind of is a very sweet set of vignettes capturing moments of their relationship from the day they meet through until they're much older and settled down, It was so soft and gentle and I loved how Bressie was written as well as how determined Niall was, looooved it)

Don't Hold Back by @jacaranda-bloom / jacaranda_bloom (15k, E, Niall/Harry, Heartbreak Weather fest fic, Song Fic, Based on Cross Your Mind, Famous/Non-Famous, Pop Star Niall, Fan Harry, Banter, Fluff and Humor, This fic was so soft and so much fun to read, and she somehow made it so the fan/singer scenario actually felt realistic???, it was really impressive and so fun)

Where I write depends on what I'm writing. I always write on a computer of some sort, phone writing stress me out and I'm endlessly in awe of people who can do it. If I'm home I'll use my gaming PC (added benefit of having two screens, one for writing and the other for research/previously written chapters for reference purposes), but I love writing on my laptop because I can take it to a library or bookstore and be surrounded by books as I write (plus if they have a cafe I can get my happy chocolate frappe drink!)

For fanfic I almost exclusively use Google Docs but for original work I usually use word, though I recently invested in a program called Dabble, which I've been enjoying. Google docs are beneficial though for sharing your chapters with a beta, and my main reason for using it, being able to access and write on any computer anywhere. I've noticed that Google docs is usually never blocked on school or company computers, and even if the computer doesn't have Microsoft office, I can access Google docs no problem. I do a lot of writing on lunch breaks, and for a while I lived in another country for my job and could only carry my work laptop, not my personal, so I used Google docs to keep producing content when I was done with work without clogging my work computer with non-work related word docs. It's kind of how I also view having a book at all times: have a Google login so that if the moment presents itself, you can pick up where you left off no matter where you are. Plus if you phone write, Google docs is accessible from there, too! So, if you have a beta, or you do a lot of travel in terms of what computers you're using, Google docs works great. Otherwise, word is just fine.

As for how I come up with stories...well having an obsession with a story/characters is definitely the first step lol. I may love Luke and Vader a little too much, haha! Otherwise, though, I've found my biggest inspiration has been the friends I've met in this fandom. They're all just as passionate, and I love hearing them talk about their favorite things or things they find cool. A lot of my ideas have come because we were talking about something unrelated, or watching something unrelated together, or someone posted a pic they liked, and as we talk about whatever the thing is, a little lightbulb goes off in my head and I go, "hey, I can add a Luke and Vader AU idea to this" and because we're all passionate about Luke and Vader, it's either gushing about how the idea is something they'd love to read, or they also throw ideas out to help flesh it out. If there was major contribution from friends I'll usually credit them in the authors note if the chapter I used it in. Fun fact, I wanted to write Luke and Vader fanfic for years, and it was friends I met who were already writing that stuff that gave me the push I needed to try it!

Point is, friends are great sources of inspiration, and in return, you'll be surprised how often your conversations with them inspire them, too. I'm a pretty introverted person, but I don't regret getting involved on Tumblr or in Star Wars fan creation discords. I feel blessed to know such lovely, intelligent people, and it may feel like a cheesy answer to that question, but it's the honest truth. This isn't the case for all of my stories, such as The Forgotten Outpost, which was inspired from all of the creature-horror I'd been listening to, but even that, I brought it to friends and said "I have this idea, what do you think?" Because I trusted them and valued their opinion and knew they'd genuinely give encouragement.
