In a world of boys, he’s a gentleman
Luke Castellan x Apollo kid!reader
Tumblr media
word count: a little over 1k
summary: you’ve had your heart broken many times, maybe the Hermes boy will be different
You have only ever wanted to be loved. For whatever reason you haven’t had much luck. Sure, there were many guys.
Callum from Ares. The only thing hotter than him was his temper.
Ryan from Hephaestus. He would forge copper to make you jewelry, little did you know three other girls had the same gift.
Ezra from Athena. Always thought he was so much smarter and better than you. Made you want to shoot your arrow straight at him.
Aiden from Hermes. A liar who couldn’t take anything seriously.
Elliott from Ares. Was dared by Callum to lock you in a dark room. And he actually listened.
Being the child of Apollo had its perks, but it more often had downsides. Your least favorite being your ability to fall in love so easily. After Elliot you swore off falling in love. A pain even you couldn’t heal. You couldn’t understand why nothing seemed to work out for you, you were a dreamboat!
A beautiful daughter of Apollo who glowed like the sun. Not only were you his daughter, you were his favorite, the hundreds of freckles on your face proved it. You were kind and generous, always willing to take in an injured camper from dusk to dawn. Your smile quite literally lit up a room. Perhaps you were too nice? Maybe they thought they could take advantage of your kindness?
Whatever the reason was doesn’t matter. You decided to take a page from your aunt Artemis’ book. No more boys, no more falling in love. Things will be easier this way. You know it.
You should’ve been at the bonfire with everyone else. You chose to skip it tonight because you wished to be alone, at the archery range. Maybe you’d earn another freckle if Apollo saw you practicing your already perfect shot. Luke should’ve been at the bonfire too, singing with your half-siblings and roasting marshmallows.
“Hey! I need some help!” A deep, painful cry said.
Immediately worried, you turned around and saw Luke Castellan holding his abdomen. You immediately run over to him, taking his arm over yours and getting to your cabin as soon as possible. You decided the infirmary was too far and you could use the cot in your cabin.
You slam through the cabin door and lay him on the cot in the middle of the bunk beds. “Lay down.”
You pull up his blood stained orange shirt to reveal a large gash on the side of his toned stomach. You held your hand on his abdomen for a moment to assess what happened. A second degree burn and large slices, as if by a horn, caused this.
“How did this happen?” You ask as you start to transfer some of the pain to a potted plant, causing it to wilt.
“Accident with a hephaestus kid, wrong place, wrong time I guess,” He says slightly wincing.
“I can take most of the pain but it’ll still take a while to heal,” You explain.
“Weren’t you supposed to be at the bonfire, leading a song with the rest of your cabin?” He asks.
“I could ask you the same thing, wandering around the blacksmiths. You know those things they make are pretty hot right?” You scoff at him.
“Yeah I guess I do now,” he rolls his eyes.
You begin to bandage the wound and give him a slice of bread. “Bread? What the hell is this gonna do?” he questions.
“My sister Melody made it, it can heal the burns for the most part,” you say.
“Aren’t you the girl who dated Aiden?” He asks bluntly, taking a bite of the bread.
“That’s none of your business,” You roll your eyes.
“If you ask me-” he begins to say before you cut him off.
“I’m not.”
“He was an idiot. All those guys were. I mean seriously, didn’t anyone teach them how to treat a pretty girl?” He continues, not fazed by you interrupting him.
“All those guys? You know about them?” You question.
“I guess. I mean after word got out about that shithead Elliot I did some asking,” he shrugs. You frown at the mention of Elliot.
“Whatever, they’re all in the past. No more guys for me,” you tell him.
“You shouldn’t give up entirely, these guys are stupid. There’s someone out there who deserves you, trust,” He assures you.
“Oh yeah? Tell me when you meet him,” You laugh.
“I think i know a guy, actually,” He responds, sitting up slightly.
“Oh yeah? Do tell.”
“Well, he’s tall, tan, and goddamn gorgeous. Has these soft brown curls, and I heard he’s the best swordsman at camp. Perfect for the best archer,” He explains to you, smiling.
“You seem to be fond of him, maybe you should go date him,” You joke.
“Nah, I think he likes this girl from Apollo. Kind, generous, beautiful, best healer and archer around,” He locks eyes with yours, darting between your eyes and your lips.
He holds your face in his hand, circling his thumb. His shirt rides up exposing his stomach and bandages.
“You like what you see?” He teases.
“You’re an idiot,” You smile.
“That seems to be your type,” he shrugs and knits his brows.
Before you can say another word he presses a kiss against your lips, moving them softly against yours. One of his hands stays on your neck while the other ventures down to your waist and then the chair you sat in. He pulls the chair closer to him and puts his hand back on your waist. You move one of your hands to his knee and the other to right beside him, leaning in closer.
“Fuck, you’re amazing,” He’s whispers into the kiss.
You smile at him before pausing. “The bonfire’s almost over, maybe you should head back,” you say.
“Yeah probably,” he gives you one last hard kiss followed by another few pecks.
He stands up and steadys himself, the injury clearly still pains him. He starts to walk away but before he can leave he turns back to you and presses a few more kisses against you.
“Okay, I’m done. y’know for now,” he smirks.
“You’re welcome anytime,” You laugh and he leaves. He gives you two looks before exiting.
Maybe you’ll give this boy one more chance.

Chapter one ⭐︎ Waiting Room
Warnings: slight angst, mentions of death and injuries, mention of physical assault (physical fight), head injuries, mention of bruises and scars, mention of Eddie's almost death. pining. allusions to unrequited love. enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort. lots and lots of tension. slow burn. also, instead of writing summaries, I will name each chapter after a song that fits the vibe of each chapter. Also, mentioning this again, her nickname has nothing to do with her hair color.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x fem!reader
Word count: 6.9k
Author's note: @hellfire--cult you know I will mention you in every chapter, so don't even try to fight me. Thanks for coming up with all these ideas with me mwah! — This is only the beginning, guys. This story will progress into something much more intense after chapter four or five, I can’t wait to share this one with you and get into the good and spicy stuff hehe!
Read the prologue first!
series masterlist ⭐︎ next chapter
Your body was aching and everything inside of you was screaming at you to not open your eyes just yet, you felt as though you were being dragged out of it. All your limbs were hurting, your skin aching, your head was pounding. You could not begin to describe the pain even if you tried, it was unlike anything you had felt before. Your memory was lost, at least that’s what it felt like for the first few seconds.
Then they started coming back slowly.
From the gate in the water, to Steve being pulled under.
From the bats trying to bite chunks of his skin to you doing everything in your power to save him.
From the creepy old Creel house, to Max offering herself as the bait.
As pictures of her flashed in your mind, you suddenly started to register the smell – the disinfectant, the disgusting smell of hospital. You heard the beeping of the machines next to you, and you felt the wires attached to your body.
You tried to press your lips together, though tears burned in your eyes when the crack in your lip stung.
You moved your hand as you slowly opened your eyes to bright lights shining into the room you were in. You squinted them, trying to adjust to the light and the vision in front of you, it took you a moment, everything was still so blurry.
From the corner of your eye, you could see a mop of dark curls. You slowly moved your head to the left side, restraining a groan when you felt a flash of pain in your head. You blinked a few times, taking in the sight of a bruised and battered Eddie, who was looking down at his rings, twisting and playing with them nervously.
“Eddie?” You said and only then you felt how dry your throat had felt, how raspy your voice had sounded and how much it was aching.
You did not notice the movement on your right side.
He straightened up as he lifted his head so suddenly, eyes wide as he looked into yours. Relief flashed his face and a smile appeared on his lips.
“Oh thank god.. Hi sweetheart.. slept well?”
You stared at him for a good long minute, trying to figure out what had happened to him. By the developing scars on his face and the white bandage around his neck, you had an idea of what had gotten to him.
Was he on the brink of death just like you had been?
By the look in his eyes, you could tell that he was.
“Huh… I’m not dead?”
He shook his head, eyes filled with relief, “gladly no.”
You rolled your eyes at his words, “well, shucks,” you sighed, like you didn’t fight for your life back at the Creel house.
Eddie sighed but chuckled, understanding your dark humor better than anyone else – despite only knowing you for a few days.
A cough finally fell from your lips when you tried to sit up, though losing the strength to, you fell back again.
Eddie instantly reached for the water bottle on the table next to you, pouring some into the plastic cup before he carefully placed it into your hand, trying not to touch the bruises on your knuckles.
You thanked him with a small smile before you lifted the cup to your lips with shaky hands.
“Careful,” Eddie whispered as he watched you.
You nodded and closed your eyes as you took a sip of the water, welcoming the feeling of the coldness in your dry throat, you took a few sips before you handed him back the cup.
“How long was I out?”
The sigh from your right side startled you a little, with furrowed brows, you turned to look only to be caught off guard.
Steve Harrington.
With his arms crossed, he stood by the window, staring at you with an unreadable look on his face. He took you in, eyes glaring at the wounds on your skin.
“You had to have surgery. There–... There was a deep concussion in your head and a vessel popped. If they didn’t do it quickly you..” He could not bring himself to finish that sentence, he clenched his jaw and looked down at his hands.
Your heart fluttered at the sight of him.
Even in this current state, you could not help but smirk cheekily, though it dropped the moment it appeared when you suddenly could feel all the bruises on your face. Your eyes watered and a wince fell from your lips.
Steve lifted his head at the sound.
And Eddie straightened up.
“Don’t move your face too much, sweets.. It’s…” He stopped as he felt anger and sadness hit him all at once.
He did not want to tell you how bad it really was – how your skin was bruised, how puffy your eyes were.
You closed your eyes again and laid your head back.
“Ah, he got me good, didn’t he?”
Steve swallowed harshly.
He pushed away the pain from seeing you like this and cleared his throat. He licked his lips and leaned closer.
“Yeah, but you got him better.”
You frowned at his words, not quite understanding.
Eddie glared at him, not knowing how you would take the news so soon.
“Huh?”
Steve ignored the look in Eddie’s eyes, he kept his on you.
“Jason’s dead. He fell onto broken wood… that impaled him.”
Oh.
Flashes of the night came in a blur.
The fight.
His rough hands as he hit you, over and over again, as he held you down and wrapped his merciless fingers around your throat, aiming for the kill.
You felt your heart beating a little faster at the memory, how scared you were when he pointed a gun at Lucas before you stepped in between them, knowing that he could have shot you, right then and there. How much it hurt when he sliced your cheek open with the stupid ring on his finger as he delivered the first punch, how close to death you were when he choked you. You saw the look in his eyes, the rage, as he called you a traitor for protecting ‘the killer’ of your friend. Tears of frustration and anger fell from your eyes when you almost lost the fight – Lucas’s screams as he called out to Max urged you to fight back, and you did, you used every last bit of your strength to throw him off of you and pushed him away.
Pushed him into his death.
You do not feel bad. – Max could have died because of him. He would have killed Lucas. He wanted to kill you.
“Good,” you murmured as you blinked the tears away that formed in your eyes again, “he was going to kill the kids.. He had a gun.. He had a gun, Steve.”
It was almost weird to hear you call him by his name.
He instantly rushed to your side and reached for your hand, something that neither of you would ever think back to again.
“Yeah, and you saved them. Listen, you can’t talk much, you need to heal, Blondie.”
Right. The ache in your neck was not from the lack of water, it was from the bruises, from almost being strangled to death.
“Everything else is being taken care of,” he said as he squeezed your hand.
You ignored the feeling in your chest and turned to look at Eddie.
“And you?”
“Well, you are looking at a free man! A free man that was targeted by Victor Creel himself after he got out of Pennhurst. I trespassed into his home many times and he had a vendetta against me or some shit.”
You felt relief rushing through you.
Though, you saw the hurt behind his eyes, knowing he had to lie about seeing Creel killing Chrissy.
He did not want to put the blame on somebody else, he knew what it had felt like to be accused of something he hadn’t done – but there was no other option, he had no choice, he wasn’t given one. People of power had told him what to do. In return, he got his name cleared and had been given a good amount of money for ‘the troubles’. Money that he could live off from for the rest of his life.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Eddie.”
He smiled at your words, nodding.
“What happened to you?”
He opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Steve.
“He played hero when he shouldn’t have.”
Eddie rolled his eyes at him.
Hero. There wasn’t only one hero that night.
Almost in panic, you straightened up.
“Where’s Max?”
Steve put his hand on yours again, giving it a pat as he tried to calm you down, though all he gave you was shivers running down your spine from his touch.
“Healing. He broke one arm and one leg, but she is awake. Robin is with her, she’s been waiting for you to wake up.”
You breathed out a sigh of relief, the weight in your shoulders fell just like that. You felt like crying, but you wouldn’t do it here, in front of them.
“And everyone else?”
You took in the sight of him, properly this time.
There were dark circles beneath his eyes, tiredness in his face.
You didn’t know what prompted you to do this, maybe it was the high anesthetic in your system or a spur of the moment – but you lifted your hand, reached out to him to graze your fingertips against his neck, on the mark where the tail of a demobat almost strangled him.
He did not pull away, but he stared at you with wide eyes, blushing at your action.
“I-I’m fine.. Everyone else is too,” he said and cleared his throat.
A scoff on your left pulled you back and you removed your hand from Steve’s neck to look over at Eddie.
“Speak for yourself, I have like forty stitches all over my body.”
How he managed to joke about that while he was still in so much pain? You did not know. But then again, you were just the same.
He spared you the details when he began to talk about what happened in the upside down. Steve did not want to revive the story again, seemingly not handling the thought of his new friend dying so cruelly. He left and told you that he’d come back later.
As Eddie was telling you about the swarm of bats, you felt the pain in your chest, just like when you had found out about Chrissy, just like when you had found out about him.
Eddie was a new addition to your life, you two are barely even friends, though you do not know how you would handle the news of him not making it.
“I’m happy you’re here.”
Eddie’s eyes softened, though a smirk tugged at his lips.
“Going soft on me now, sweets?” He chuckled, surprised to hear such words from you. “Or are you still on drugs? Where’s the little ol’ meanie, I kinda liked her.”
A pained chuckle fell from your lips.
“She’ll be back in no time, don’t you worry.”
Your laughter died down when you thought of the way he looked at you.
Judging by all the pain you were still feeling, you knew that you looked awful.
“How bad do I look? Be honest, please.”
Eddie shook his head with a pained look on his face. He looked down for a moment. His eyes flashed with anger and sadness.
“Bad, sweetheart. When we found out that Jason did this to you.. We wanted to revive him only to kill him again,” he said angrily. “Steve wanted to rip his corpse apart, that’s what Robin told me.”
For a moment, you felt cheerful and your eyes had softened.
For a moment you had thought that he cared.
But Eddie quickly pulled you back into reality after shattering that illusion.
“He saw what he did to Lucas, it’s not as bad as you but.. fuck. He was going to kill Max too.”
Steve was angry at Jason because of the teens, not because of what he did to you, never because of you. He wouldn’t have cared if you bleed out on the ground in the Creel house. He wouldn’t have cared if you died.
You focused on Eddie, on the anger in his features – it made your eyes soften, knowing that you found another friend, one that you should probably protect from the curse that you are.
“Shouldn’t you be resting?”
“I can walk now..”
You frown, tilting your head at him before you look down at yourself.
“How long have I been out?” You asked when you realized that Steve had never answered your question.
“You’ve been out for a whole week, sweetheart.”
Your eyes widened, you dug your hands into the mattress and pushed yourself up.
“Whoa, whoa!” Eddie raised his hands as he tried to stop you from sitting up.
“W-What, oh my god, my sister must be worried!”
He put his hand on your arm, gently – you had noticed it before, how careful he had been to touch you, like he was afraid of hurting you, like you were something fragile.
“Yeah, about that–” He never got to finish his sentence as the door burst open and your sister stormed inside the room.
Your eyes widened at the sight of her, not because you were surprised or confused to see her here, but because it’s been two months since you had last seen her. Besides the concerned look on her face, she was glowing – maybe it was the pregnancy or maybe it was just the fact that she has been much happier since leaving Hawkins behind.
“Hi hi, honey! Are you okay?”
That day she had the same concern in her voice as she does now while she talks your ear off about how important it is to go to all your checkups at the Hospital. She is calling every day, just to remind you – and to check on you.
You are fine. Just fine.
You survived an attack, you survived surgery, you survived. You made a good recovery and you are getting better each day. Besides, Eddie and Max are on your back about the check-ups just as much, you have no choice but to go to them.
You’re holding the telephone between your ear and your shoulder as you finish touching up your make up, applying some gloss to your lips before you pick up the brush one more time and carefully go through your hair, trying not to hurt yourself, your head starts hurting at every slightest touch and it’s beginning to frustrate you.
“I’m telling you, this baby is going to be a little runner.”
“Is she still kicking?”
Your sister huffs before she laughs, “she is kicking all the time, sis.”
You smile as you take the telephone and walk towards your window, leaning against the wall as you wait for the Impala to pull up in your driveway.
“I can’t wait to meet her. I never held a baby before.”
“Well, you’re about to – give it a few more weeks and you’ll turn into an auntie in no time.”
“I am already an auntie,” you chuckle. “How could you forget little Luna? She was your first child.”
You remember how devastated you were when she took the black cat with her as she moved out of your parents house and left the town, for good. You begged her to leave the cat with you, put on your best puppy face but she wouldn’t have it, it was her cat, after all.
“Right, sorry sorry.” She laughs.
You hear rustling in the back and a moment later, a loud crunch sounds through the phone. You don’t have to ask to know what she’s eating. Chips. She is always eating salted chips, now even more so than before.
“What are you doing today?” She asks with a mouthful.
Looking down at your outfit, you place your palm on your new denim shorts before you slide your fingers into the pocket.
“I’m going to a barbecue in a few,” you say. “Max basically forced me to come.”
“Wait, you’re not driving yourself, are you?”
You roll your eyes, shaking your head as a huff falls from your lips.
You’re not allowed to drive, not yet. Your vision gets blurry sometimes, and you get light headed very easily. Your doctor said that it would pass, but it’s been two weeks since you had been released from the hospital and it hasn’t passed yet.
Jason truly did a number on you.
“No, don’t worry. My friends would kill me if I even tried–”
“Don’t say that word,” she cuts you off with a stern voice. “But I agree with them.”
You snort.
“Anyways, Eddie is picking me up.”
Silence follows for a good thirty seconds before she continues eating her chips. You can practically hear her thoughts, you already know what she’s about to say next.
“Eddie. He was the cute one with the long hair, right?” She asks, innocently. “The one who brought you chocolate and magazines?”
Rolling your eyes at her teasing voice, you push yourself away from the wall when you see the black Impala pulling up to your house.
“Don’t even,” you sigh, scrunching up your face in annoyance.
She has been waiting, waiting for years for you to finally have a crush on someone, to fall in love, go on dates and get a boyfriend.
Though, unlike her, you weren’t exactly popular – maybe it was your own fault, but that’s beside the point. Your sister loved having crushes and going on dates. She loved falling in love.
You? Not so much.
Love has only brought you pain.
And you never cared much for dating – not even for fun. You don’t mind being on your own, loving someone from afar and in secret, for probably the rest of your life.
“What’s wrong with him? Isn’t he super sweet?” She asks. “He brought you chocolate, sat by your side and you seem to like him–”
“Yeah, as a friend.”
“Oh,” she sighs, humming. “Yeah, you never liked the nice guys, did you?”
She got you there. Well, kind of. He is nice. He is nice to everyone, but to you.
“What about the other guy then? What was his name again… Steve?”
Just the mention of his name has shivers running down your spine, your heart fluttering and your skin crawling in tingles.
You feel your cheeks glowing but you roll your eyes at the stupid giddiness that you feel, everytime you think of him.
“Mhmm, Steve.”
“Huh.” You could practically hear the smirk in her voice. “What about him?”
If she only knew.
Eddie honks the car horn, giving you the perfect excuse to hang up the phone. You walk back to your dresser, putting the phone down.
“Anyways, I love you, sis. But a very hungry Eddie is waiting for me in the driveway.”
You know that he is hungry, he is always hungry, always eating away all the snacks and stealing leftover fries from everyone’s plates, no matter how much he had eaten already.
“Have fun with uh Steve! Love you, mwah, bye!”
You roll your eyes once again as you hang up the phone.
Steve and Fun in one sentence just doesn’t sound right. That guy would rather stay miserable for the rest of his life than even try to have fun with you.
He can’t stand you.
And well, you can’t stand him either. – At least, that’s what you keep telling yourself, all while knowing that it’s very much a lie, but how else would you stay sane?
You quickly make your way down the stairs, reaching for your keys and your sunglasses on the way out. You skip down the porch steps. You tap the hood of his car before you get into the passenger seat.
Eddie is already grinning at you, waving his fingers at you.
“Hey sexy.”
His brows shoot up and a smirk tugs at his lips. He playfully eyes you up and down.
You close the door and sit back, greeting him with a mocking smirk.
“Hello to you too, sweets,” he says in a low and deep voice – one that almost has you laughing.
“Oh, I wasn’t greeting you,” you say, nonchalantly. “I was talking to Arwen,” you gesture to his beloved, new car, that he of course named after a Lord of the rings character.
“But, hi Eddie.”
A loud laugh leaves his lips, his brown eyes twinkle with amusement. He grabs the gearstick, shaking his head at you.
“You ready for some heavy metal heaven?”
You put on your sunglasses and fasten the seatbelt after he points at you with a stern look on his face.
“Sure,” you snort, knowing that the drive to the Sinclair house will be anything but uneventful. When Eddie isn’t singing and bobbing his head to the music, he’s shouting over it, telling you a story that he can’t wait to get off his chest.
Your friendship with him is something you didn’t see coming. You tried to push him away, knowing how your friendships with people you care about usually end, but he wouldn’t have it. He kept coming back, just like Robin, just like the teens.
You don’t understand why.
What’s there about you that they want you around so bad?
You’re never in a happy mood, you’re never entertaining, you don’t bring anything into the friend group. You don’t get along with most people – by most people you only mean Steve Harrington.
You wonder if it’s because you almost died and they’d feel guilty to exclude you after helping them or if Max forces them to accept you into a friend group you never even wanted to be part of.
“How’s your head doing?” Eddie asks as he drives on Maple Street.
“Good, s’not hurting anymore.” You lie.
He knows.
Eddie sees the way you react to bright lights, the way you scrunch up your nose a little whenever the sun shines into your eyes or the way you rest your hand against the nearest wall when you seem to get dizzy.
“When’s your next check-up?”
He sounds just as concerned as your sister does, it makes you laugh a little.
Who would have thought that Eddie could be so caring?
“Tomorrow, 3pm.”
“Want me to drive you?”
You shake your head, “no, it’s fine. I’ll take the bus.”
He scoffs, shooting you a glare as he pulls up into the driveway, parking his car behind the burgundy BMW.
“You think I’ll let you take the bus? I’ll drive you and then we’ll get burgers.”
You unbuckle your seatbelt, chuckling as you turn to him, “okay, dad.”
“Shut up,” he grumbles at you with a glare.
Laughing at the look on his face, you get out of the car and make your way over to the house. Eddie bumps his shoulder into yours, tilting his head down, he looks at your heart shaped sunglasses.
“Where’d you get these?” He asks, pointing at them.
“Macy’s, why? You want some too?”
“What if I do?” He asks, ringing the doorbell.
“Then we’ll get you some pink ones.”
A smirk tugs at his lips, “hell yeah.”
Robin opens the door with an excited smile on her face, grinning when she sees you.
“Hi!” She beams at you. “Come on in.” She steps aside, lifting her arm as she waits for you both to step inside.
You walk in first, and as you do, Robin pulls you into a hug, greeting you once more.
“Hey,” you mumble as you slowly lift your arms to hug her back.
Eddie chuckles at the confused frown on your face, he follows inside and closes the door.
“C’mon, Steve is already bitching about you two being late.”
And just like that, your heart jumps a little. You hate yourself a little in these moments.
Pushing your sunglasses up on your head, you and Eddie follow her out into the garden.
You can hear the music outside, laughter and Steve’s stern voice as he scolds Dustin, as always. The smell of smoke lingers in the air and as you step outside, you catch sight of Steve, standing behind the grill, with one hand on his hip and the other pointing at Dustin with the grill tong.
His hair is messy, a spit curl falling before his eyes. He is wearing his black sunglasses, green khaki pants, a gray tank top,– oh god. This is going to be a long day.
You swallow as you tear your eyes away from him, looking around with squinted eyes, the sun is harsh and you instantly put your sunglasses back on.
“Are the Sinclair’s around?” You ask, meaning Lucas’s and Erica’s parents.
Robin shakes her head, “no, they’re out in Indianapolis until tomorrow, Steve is probably gonna stay the night.”
You nod.
You hear your name being called and you turn to your right to see Lucas waving at you with a smile on his face. He is sitting on the lounger Max is laying on, still with casts on her leg and her arm. She pushes herself up on her elbows, looking in your direction, a smile appears on her face and she greets you just as kindly as her boyfriend did.
Robin leaves your side, walking towards Dustin who plays with his new, portable Stereo.
As you pass by Steve, he turns around to greet Eddie with a smile and you with nothing more than a nod and low grumble, “Blondie.”
Whenever he seems moody or pissed off, you feel the urge to make it even worse. And you do, every single time.
You walk around him and look at the meat on the grill, whining.
“I don’t eat meat.”
He turns to you, eyes growing wide at your words. He didn’t know. And he already feels guilty for not asking you first. He pushes his sunglasses up into his hair as an apologetic look crosses his face.
“Fuck… I-I didn’t know–” he stops when he notices the smug look on your face and hears Eddie chuckle over his shoulder.
He should’ve known.
With a groan, he rolls his eyes and pushes his sunglasses back down as he turns back to the grill.
“Hey Eddie!” Dustin calls out to him, already grinning at Steve. “Check this out!”
“Don’t you dare, Dustin–” Robin gets cut off by a scream as it blasts from the stereo. She smacks him lightly on his head, yelling at him to turn it off.
Eddie laughs loudly, leaving yours and Steve’s side.
“Jesus christ,” Steve mumbles, scrunching his face up at the music. “That shrimp has been doing that all day. Eddie really is a bad influence.”
“Aw, poor Steve,” you pout at him, “are you mad that you can’t listen to Madonna?”
He scoffs at you, though he doesn’t say anything and focuses on the sizzling burgers as he turns them over.
You press your lips together, ignoring the tugging in your chest or the feeling in your stomach as you use his distraction to look at him.
It’s only nearing the end of April, but it already feels like the beginning of summer. Steve’s skin is already sun kissed. You hide your eyes behind your sunglasses as you ogle him. Taking in the sight of his veiny hands, his arms that have just the perfect amount of muscle, his chest hair that you always tease him for, the silver chain around his neck.
You swallow.
Cursing inwardly when you feel your stomach fluttering.
He turns to face you again, totally catching you and your staring.
Fuck.
“Like what you see?” He smirks down at you.
You bite the inside of your cheeks, trying not to blush under his gaze.
He is feeling smug. Not because he likes you staring at him, but because he’s been waiting for a moment to embarrass you with something.
He expects you to stutter, to step back and answer his question with a shaky and squeaky voice, because that is what he must be used to, but you wouldn’t give him that satisfaction. You take a step closer to him, biting your lip as you eye him up and down.
You can tell that it catches him off guard a little, but unlike you, he isn’t blushing.
“Yeah, actually,” you whisper and put your hand on his shoulder as you lean closer to the small table where he left his coke. You wrap your hand around the can, it’s cold against your palm and you hum in satisfaction as you raise it up to your lips, taking a sip of his drink. “Mmmh, perfect.”
You turn around, and walk away without another word, leaving him huffing and glaring at you.
You fail to notice or feel his eyes on you, the way they rake down your body, the way he licks his lips before he forces his eyes away from you.
You greet Lucas and Max properly, hugging the latter before you take a seat on the lounger next to her, choosing the one that is half in the shadow, so you can hide your face from the sun.
You easily fall into a conversation with the teens. You had always been close with Max, even before you were dragged into all of this.
Being friends with her, also brought Lucas into your life. Unlike Dustin, who is always somehow trying to get on your nerves by teasing you with crushes that don’t exist or annoying you like a younger brother would do, Lucas is always very kind.
“I can’t wait for you to get your car back.”
Chuckling at Lucas’s words, you take off your sunglasses and put them down beside you.
“Why’s that?”
“So you can drive us around again,” he shrugs as he flashes you a smile.
“Are Steve and Eddie not good enough for you?” You snort.
Max scoffs loudly, rolling her eyes as she turns to you.
“Steve is always whining about something!”
“Yeah, and Eddie drives like a maniac,” Lucas groans, throwing his hands up.
Max purses her lips, looking down at her cast.
“Yeah, like your girlfriend,” you laugh, glancing at Lucas. “I wonder who will teach her how to drive properly.”
“First of all, I don’t drive like a maniac,” says Max. “Second, why don’t you teach me how to drive?”
You raise your brows at her, shaking your head, “sorry girl, but I am not a good teacher.”
“But you’re like a big sister to me, you’re supposed to teach me,” she teases, though she looks at you with her best puppy eyes. “Besides, we can take Billy’s car.”
Shaking your head at her, you lay your head back and close your eyes, “don’t even try, Max. We’ll both end up in a ditch, we barely made it out last time.”
She snorts at your words while Lucas looks between the two of you with disapproval on his face.
“I’m starting to think that neither of you should ever drive again.”
“I actually agree with you,” Robin chimes in as she joins the three of you. “I’ve heard of Max’s driving skills and uh… you lady,” she points at you, moving your legs to the side as she takes a seat on your lounder, “are danger in person.”
“Me?” You gasp, putting your hand on your chest.
“Yeah, you!”
Steve watches you from afar, ignoring the heavy metal music and the curly heads behind him, who are going crazy over a song he just can’t find a liking to.
He watches you – the way you crack a smile and shake your head with an amused look on your face.
He watches you talk to the teens and to his best friend, easily falling into conversations. He rarely sees you like this – smiling and carefree. You’re usually always tense, annoyed and wearing a permanent frown on your face. Mostly around him.
Steve will never know what it’s like to have a normal conversation with you, to see you smiling at him, not in a teasing way, in a real way. He is not sure if he ever even saw a real smile on your face – not even the one you are wearing now is real.
But, why does he even care? You two have never gotten along, you hated each other, at first glance.
With a sigh, he turns off the grill. He carries the tray filled with food over to where everyone is sitting, motioning for Eddie and Dustin to follow.
Steve walks past you, not paying attention to how close he is to you, he accidentally bumps you in the head with the corner of the tray. He doesn’t even notice that he did – not until, you duck your head down and raise your hand to touch the side of your head.
Max snaps her head up at him with a glare on her face. Lucas freezes when he sees how angry she is.
He looks down at you, to see you looking up at him already.
“I’m sorry..” He murmurs.
You don’t speak, instead you look up at him with big eyes and a pained look on your face.
“Oh come on, I barely even touched you,” he says, nervously.
Eddie and Robin glance at each other, confused and worried.
He rolls his eyes at you, knowing that this is another one of your little games that you always play, whenever you get bored.
“Are you fucking with me again?”
Max shoots out of her seat, almost falling over due to the cast on her leg, her cheeks grow red in anger as her eyes burn into Steve.
“Her head! You hit her head, you stupid idiot!” She points at him with rage in her voice.
Steve’s eyes widen as deep guilt rushes through him, he instantly drops the tray on the table before he crouches down in front of you, shakily laying his palm on your shoulder as Max continues to curse at him.
He wasn’t thinking. He didn’t think of that.
“S-Shit,” he mumbles, looking at you apologetically.
How could he forget? The doctor told you how sensitive you would be at every slightest touch to your head, how every slightest bump could cause nausea, dizziness or even a migraine. He was there, he heard him say it loud and clearly, yet he forgot.
Only now does he notice the hurt in your eyes as you place your palm over your ear – your ear that is ringing, for a moment it feels as though you’ve been pulled under water, and still you hear Max yelling at Steve.
It’s not his fault, it was an accident.
“Max! It wasn’t his fault, he didn’t do it on purpose! J-Just fuck…” You curse at the pain, not even recognizing your own voice for a moment. Who would’ve thought that you would be this sensitive? You feel his hand on your shoulder, maybe it eases the pain a little, or maybe it’s just the comfort that you feel from only his touch.
“I-I’m gonna get you some ice,” Steve mumbles and rushes into the house, with Eddie following close behind.
He throws his sunglasses on the counter and huffs in frustration as he tugs at his hair. He opens the freezer and gets an ice pack out.
“Steve–”
“Fuck, Eddie. I didn’t know, I thought she was fucking with me again,” he stammers, wrapping the icepack into a cloth. “She always does this a-and I wasn’t thinking of the fucking injury.”
Steve is cursing at himself and at Jason who caused all of this, who did this to you.
Eddie takes a step closer to him, placing his hand on his shoulder, trying to calm his friend down.
“Steve,” he sighs but he won’t look at him. “You didn’t know, i-it’s just a migraine, nothing else–”
“Nothing else?” Steve scoffs, frowning at Eddie.
How could this be nothing else? He caused you pain with the slightest touch, something that reminded you of what you had been through, only a few weeks back. And he might have just triggered even more than a migraine, he might have triggered some thoughts to come back that you tried to not think of.
He rushes back out to you.
When you see him, you are already reaching for the ice pack, waving your hand at him to give it to you but he pulls it back, not handing it to you.
You huff in annoyance, looking at him in disbelief.
Max is standing with a hand on her hip, extending her arm as well as she glares at him in annoyance.
Lucas and Dustin glance at each other, like they are afraid to move or even say anything as they quietly eat their food.
“Lego head, give me the ice pack–”
He startles you a little by sitting down right behind you, “where do I press?” He asks.
You’re taken aback by his words and his action, you’re taken aback by his touch.
“Huh?”
“Where do I press the ice pack?” He asks again, breathing down your neck.
You glance up at Max, she raises her eyebrows at you. Normally, she is the one who helps you, sometimes it’s Eddie or Robin, but Steve? Steve never helped you.
She eyes Steve and the look in his eyes, the guilt and the pain from hurting someone when normally, he tries to do everything in his power to protect people, even the ones that he doesn’t like.
With a sigh, she slowly sits down.
Despite the pain that is pulsating in your head, you feel shivers running down your spine when Steve moves your hair to the side, his fingertips grazing your skin.
“Where?”
“I uh–... here,” you mumble, quietly as you point to the spot where it hurts the most.
“Okay,” he whispers and scoots even closer to you, he presses the ice pack against the back of your head.
You sigh and relax a little, closing your eyes as you welcome the coldness.
Your heart flutters in your chest when he presses his free hand on your shoulder, touching you gently.
“Max, you should eat something,” Robin says, trying to smile at the angry teen.
“Yeah, you’re gonna heal faster if you eat a burger,” Eddie grins, trying to ease the tension as he hands her the plate.
“A burger will help me heal, really?” She scrunches her face up but grabs the plate, nonetheless.
“Yeah, actually. It’ll give you some of the strength back,” Dustin winks at her before he takes a bite of his burger.
She snorts, shaking her head at them.
You listen to your friends chatter as you keep your eyes closed. Tilting your head to the side, you lean back slightly, – wishing you could just lean into him. You can sense how tense he is, you are almost certain that you can hear his thoughts, how he is cursing at himself for this, for hurting someone – even if it’s just you.
“Stop stressing about it, Harrington. It’s nothing,” you sigh, trying to ease some of his tension.
He rolls his eyes, shaking his head, “You and Eddie, I swear if you keep saying this is nothing..” He huffs in frustration.
Not only does he hate all of this – he also hates the feeling of your soft skin beneath his touch, the smell of your perfume, the smell of your body wash that he is close enough to smell – and fuck, does it smell good, good enough to make his stomach feel all weird again.
You try to chuckle, though he can tell that it’s pained.
“What, you worried about me, Lego head? Thought I didn’t affect your life at all?” You ask smugly, as though it’s a joke to you.
Your words feel like a punch to his gut, even though he was the one who said these words to you, it hurts for some reason, because maybe, these words aren’t true in the slightest.
You might not be someone important to him, you might not be special to him.
Yet it doesn’t change the feeling he had felt in his gut when he found out that you were on the brink of death, that night. When he saw you in the hospital room hours after your surgery, how lost and empty he had felt when he saw the state you were in. How he sat beside you for hours before the nurses finally kicked him out and told him to go home and rest.
He clenches his jaw.
“Yes, I’m worried,” he huffs. “So shut up because you will make it worse, Blondie.” He says with full expectation to hear some smartass comment back from you.
But you stay quiet, fully quiet.
You open your eyes and you look down at your hands in sadness.
You wish he didn’t say that to you. You wish he kept the hate comments instead, that he left you with the idea of hating you completely, not showing an ounce of worry towards you. Because this is ruining you. The act of kindness is completely destroying you, and he doesn’t even know. He doesn’t feel it either.
You really are hopeless.

the friend - opposites attract universe
a knock against the door has hongjoong startled, pulling him from the task at hand. his hands that were delicately massaging your scalp soon disappear, instead finding their way to your shoulders to push you gently from his path. you whine in mock complaint as he shuffles you to sit in front of his husband instead, but then seonghwa’s skilled fingers lace themselves in your soft barnet and all is well again. your eyes flutter closed and your head tips back.
“fickle little thing,” hongjoong muses as he straightens his slacks. his fingers brush over the pinstriped material, knocking away the creases from sitting in them, before he begins to move towards the archway that separates the living room from the foyer. “she really will crumble for anyone who shows her attention.”
he mutters that last bit under his breath, sharing an amused chuckle with himself as he wraps his hand around the brass doorknob. the wooden door is heavy and takes more than a little effort to yank open, but with a helpful hand from someone on the other side, it seems much easier. the ringed hand that came to his aid soon drops from the ornate door, swinging back down to the side of its owner. hongjoong can’t help but smile when he sees who it belongs to—his good friend song mingi is at his door.
hongjoong smiles at the man as he takes his sunglasses off and tucks them in the pocket of his black hoodie; it was a style choice hongjoong never really got behind, but mingi insisted that dressing so casually was ‘cool’ and not to mention ‘handy for his line of work.’ hongjoong is still convinced that you can take care of werewolves whilst dressing properly, but after several conversations on the matter, he’s come to the conclusion that mingi is simply just too stubborn to care. it’s fine, hongjoong tells himself; it’s all a part of what makes the giant on his doorstep so loveable.
“no yunho today?” hongjoong asks as he sidesteps just enough to let mingi through the door. “you two are normally inseparable.” there’s a strange expression on mingi’s face as hongjoong moved to push the door closed. it’s sheepish and shy and not at all like mingi, almost as if he’s ashamed of something. the door clicks shut just as the taller man shrugs which in itself is suspicious. the pair are normally attached at the hip; for mingi to not know exactly where the artist is at any given point in time is wrong. hongjoong sucks his teeth like he’s about to start scolding a child. “mingi, what have you done?”
“nothing!” the young man complains, tone defensive and annoyed. “why would you assume it’s me that’s done something and not yunho?”
its said like a child blaming their sibling for something, and hongjoong has to tense all of his face muscles to stop himself from cracking a smile. mingi makes it almost impossible for him not to have a soft spot for the man. so selfless yet so childish, hongjoong finds it easy to adore him. it’s probably why he’s been friends with the unsophisticated rascal for so many years.
“because i know if yunho had done something he would’ve already apologised and fixed the matter at hand,” it’s true, although it is entirely possible that yunho had apologised for something and mingi was just being his usual difficult self about it. hongjoong suspects that if that were the case, though, the man in his foyer would be a whole lot poutier. he thinks its safe to assume that this is a mingi-caused problem, as so many things are. “now tell me what’s wrong or i’ll invite yunho over to tell me himself.”
mingi’s jaw clenches, the muscles ticking like a clock as he mulls over his options. on one hand, he doesn’t want to be scolded by hongjoong, on the other, he really doesn’t want to have to face yunho right now. he knows one look at his friend will have him bent double, begging for forgiveness and he’s not quite ready to do that. he wants to hang onto his pride for just a little while longer.
so he sighs and closes his eyes, mentally preparing himself for the berating he’s about to get from hongjoong. his lungs fill with oxygen and he’s just about to confess his wrongdoings when he hears it; the sound of his saviour.
“hongjoong?” your brashly optimistic voice echos through the room as the soft pitter-patter of your bare feet grows nearer, and for the first time ever, mingi finds himself thanking the devil for your existence. usually he’s pretty impartial to you, loving to tease you more than he loves you. now, though? demons, he could kiss you if he wasn’t absolutely sure that hongjoong would have yeosang pinning him to the floor by his throat within seconds.
screw the fact that mingi once cared for yeosang like he was one of his own; the once feral pup is well and truly loyal to the kim family now…
mingi watches as the lilac of your sweater-covered arms wraps around hongjoong’s waist like a belt. the man relaxes into your hold, the accusatory look on his face melting away as you tuck your face into his neck. “seonghwa was wondering how long you’d be. he misses you.”
hongjoong chuckles and rolls his eyes.
“you mean you miss me?” he purrs, brining a hand up to pet at your messed up hair. mingi’s surprised seonghwa let you slip from his grasp without carefully laying each individual strand of hair back into position. no doubt the man is seething about your escape in the next room over. “seonghwa can live without me for a few moments, dove. you, on the other hand, are forever proving that you can’t.”
“yeah, sure, whatever,” you admit, “i miss you, i guess.”
hongjoong cranes his neck to kiss the side of your head, a toothy grin on his face as he holds his lips to you for a few more seconds than necessary. mingi finds himself rolling his eyes at the unnecessary display of affection, but he’s be lying if he said he didn’t feel something stirring inside of his chest. it’s cute, he admits to himself, but that doesn’t mean he needs to see it. he’s actually more than grateful when hongjoong pulls away from you with a gentle sigh.
“let’s go back to the lounge then, my pretty little dove,” hongjoong murmurs, and mingi feels the weight of the world fall from his back. he’s have to thank you later for tearing hongjoong’s attention from him. “you can wake yeosang from his nap; i’m sure the mutt would be more than happy to see that mingi is here to visit.”

"What did I do wrong?"
The words left your mouth after an absurd amount of time in complete silence. Such a long absence of speech while you remained sitting on the couch, your eyes looking at your boyfriend and searching for any answer.
His indifference remained implacable and causing pain in your heart. "Jesus! You don't even care about our relationship."
It wasn't a question. But the confident statement at least caused a reaction from Jungkook. "Oh, so now we're talking about who really cares about this bullshit? 'Cause you don't even seem caring about us when you're looking at Taehyung with your fucking puppy eyes." He chuckled, even though his sentence wasn't actually sarcastic. "Fuck, (Y/N)! He's my best friend. You really think I wouldn't realize what you were trying to do?"
Your eyes widened, getting up from the couch so quickly that you made a loud noise. Jungkook still had his body fixed on the armchair in front of you, but you saw him shiver slightly.
"You crazy? I never thought anything like that about Taehyung!" Your throat burned at the volume of your voice. "Or anyone else!"
Jungkook rolled his eyes, starting to anger at your frustration. "Stop yelling. The world doesn't need to know that my ex-girlfriend is a whore."
Your eyes filled with tears at the venom present in his words.
If anyone else said that, you would get angry and trying slap them for such audacity. However, he was not just anyone. He was Jungkook. Your Jungkook. Your perfect boyfriend. Your boyfriend who hugged you during night storms. Your boyfriend who liked teaching Korean cooking recipes, no matter how bad you were cooking some of them. Your boyfriend who liked spoiling you with cute gifts every month.
Your boyfriend who called you "my little one" and "my princess". That Jungkook would never call you a "whore." He would never accuse you of something like that.
"Why are you acting like this? Why are you being so mean and accusing me of things I never thought of?" You let out a sob. A sob so sad that it soon turned into an avalanche of tears.
Lowering his head and swallowing hard when you starting your crying fit, you heard the last words Jungkook spoke to you before the official end of your relationship. "Stop crying, you're just making me hate you even more."
And when he walked quickly out of your house to get on his motorcycle, Jungkook knew he was just a coward guy. A guy who was afraid of love.
He chose painting you as the villain in your relationship. He chose to believe that you were telling lies from the beginning. He even chose to believe that you were thinking about kissing his best friend someday.
Jungkook was too afraid of love. Because it hurts. Loving you hurts him so bad.
Even though you two weren't perfect, you came very close. He couldn't afford to unexpectedly lose that. The thought of the possibility of you one day deciding to end everything literally killed him inside everyday.
If he were the one to destroy the relationship, maybe the consequences would affect him less. He would at least be ready, right?
Maybe hating you's the only way it doesn't hurt.

How Heartsteel would react catching their S/O singing/dancing to “Paranoia” (to their part if applicable)
Inspiration: Me being a dancing/singing/lip syncing fool every time I listen to the damn song, especially while I’m cleaning my apartment.
Genre: Headcanon
Category: FLUFF
Gender: Gender Neutral Reader
TW: Swearing
Tumblr media
^^(How did they get this GIF of me dancing?? 😂)
General things:
Setting the scene, let’s say it’s the first time they’re coming home after the song has released so they’re really getting your reaction to the finished song for the first time.
Ok let’s be clear, all of them would be so flattered and would love this.
Having a supportive partner means EVERYTHING TO THEM.
So even if I don’t put “it means a lot to them to catch you doing this, etc…etc…, it’s still implied.
Aphelios:
He’s had a long day in the studio working with Yone on the next album’s instrumentals after doing a debut music show, so he’s very ready to be home with you and to take it easy tonight.
Grins under his mask as he opens the door and hears “Paranoia” blasting on the Bluetooth speaker he got you for your birthday. He knows how much you love to jam to music!
Sneaks to wherever you are, not wanting to disrupt you and absolutely wanting to grab a photo he can send to Alune (after swearing her to secrecy [not that she would send the photo of you to anyone anyway! You and her are good friends too]).
Manages to get an excellent photo of you using the duster as a microphone, a smidge of dust on your cheek.
You’re so absorbed in your “performance” you don’t notice him at all.
Right after you mime the *ding ding ding* of the bell in Sett’s verse, your smart watch buzzes with a text message.
“I hate to disrupt your award-worthy performance, but what would you like for dinner? (Also you have a little dust on your cheek, cutie.)”
When you spin around and finally see him, he’s spinning his mask on his finger and giving you a sly grin, winking as you gasp in surprise and blush at being caught.
He grabs a tissue and gently wipes off your cheek before giving you a gentle kiss hello.
(I have a headcanon that he would primarily communicate to his partner using sign language)
*Signing* “I’m glad you enjoy our work, love!”
Seeing you love something he put so much effort and time into really brings him a LOT of pride and will continue to motivate him.
He helps you clean and asks you more about your thoughts on the song.
You were in the studio while he worked so you’ve heard parts of it, but you and him agreed that you shouldn’t hear the finished song until it released to the public. It was your suggestion actually. He was ready to let you listen to it early but you wanted to experience the full excitement of waiting for their debut just like everyone else.
Which he LOVED.
Ezreal:
This litTLE SHIT (said lovingly)!
Smug man #1
He will NEVER LET YOU FORGET THIS.
The SMIRK he has when he walks through the front door and hears the all-too-familiar intro to the song.
And when he hears you RAPPING along with Kayn’s part??
NO WAY is he missing this!!
He immediately makes his way to wherever you are and positions himself so he can see you without you seeing him.
Phone camera is at the ready.
Starts recording a video right before the pre-chorus begins and his part starts.
He can’t help but smile as you switch to lip syncing, clearly wanting to hear/focus on his voice.
You’ve told him many times how much you adore his singing voice.
(And he’ll never admit to anyone how much hearing you say that means to him but that’s a different story)
It takes every fiber of his being to not reveal himself while he’s recording.
He’s about two seconds from giggling.
Records through the end of the chorus before stopping the recording and immediately sending the video to the Heartsteel group chat with all the members and Alune. They all love you so he knows they’ll love seeing the video.
He puts his phone away and plans to sneak up on you. (Lmao sneak up? I mean flash.)
This man is an EXPERT at surprising you.
Flashes right behind you before the second pre-chorus starts and starts singing, bursting into laughter as you let out a surprised scream.
He gets a well deserved pillow to the face for that.
Later Yone texts you and tells you that he’s “glad you like the song enough to sing and dance to it throughout your daily tasks.”
And Aphelios hits you with the “:)”
And Ez gets another pillow to the face before bed.
Followed by a kiss because he is POUTING.
Kayn:
This SMUG motherfucker!! (Again, said lovingly!!!)
Smug man #2!!
Comes home to you cooking dinner for you and him, using the spatula as a mic.
Does THE shoulder lean against the door frame (y’all know what I mean, especially if you read romance novels) and just watches you with the biggest shit-eating smirk on his face.
That smirk only get bigger as the song ends and restarts and you don’t change it, telling him you’ve had their song on repeat for who knows how long!
If anything, you’re getting even more into it, starting to dance a little more now and adding some little ad libs while he raps.
Ex: “If you try to step to me, it’ll be the last time” You *in rhythm*: “FUCK YEAH”
He absolutely loves it.
Honestly you’re making him fall in love with you all over again.
Also gives him the idea to ask Alune if you can help make up the fan chants (although he’s sad because he knows they’ll have to be a bit more PG)
Can’t help himself as he lets out a chuckle, giving himself away in the process.
Holds his hands up peacefully as you spin around, ready to throw the spatula if needed.
“Sorry baby, I’m afraid you can’t use me for target practice.”
“God Damnit, Kayn, you know I scare easily! How long have you been home?”
“There’s a reason I stayed over here instead of startling you over there where there are a bunch more kitchen utensils you could have reacted with. And to answer your question, enough time for me to understand how much you seem to enjoy our song.”
You playfully, roll your eyes, shake your head, and smile as he comes over and wraps his arms around your waist, kissing you hello.
He’d definitely tell the guys what he saw, but he wouldn’t film or photograph you (this time 😉).
K’Sante:
I get such immaculate vibes from Heartsteel K’Sante.
Like I’m a BTS fan (woot woot ARMY) and I get very very similar energy/vibes from K’Sante and RM.
Like I do not know what it is, but I would trust K’Sante with holding/watching my drink at a club if I needed to run to the restroom. He has that sort of good energy.
I suppose it’s the…safe? energy??
Absolutely hilarious to use that word considering the batshit things they did in that movie studio.😂
But you know what I mean!
And being in a relationship with someone who has this sort of energy would be A++++.
(I know this is a bit of a tangent but I swear it’s relevant to the topic)
K’Sante’s part in “Paranoia” has that same sort of energy to it. (It’s so hard to explain what I meannnn)
And when he catches you singing and dancing along to his part, the bridge of the song, while you’re folding/putting away laundry, I think he’d watch you for a couple moments.
But only a couple.
He’d make his presence known a bit earlier
Because then I think he’d come join you! ☺️
He’d start singing with you and encourage you to keep singing with him.
He’d gently pull you a little closer to him.
And obviously the slower paced part of bridge doesn’t last forever, but even then I think he’d still dance with you once the song ramped up with you (hard to explain but think casual dancing with a partner at a club/bar).
It would be so FUN??? Such a fun sweet moment between the two of you.
He’d of course then help you fold the laundry.
“It’s only fair since I distracted you from it for a bit!”
You’d keep listening to music with him as you both get some chores done around the house.
Definitely making sure to take time for more dance breaks (duhhhh).
Sett:
(A/N: I love the entirety of “Paranoia” but something about Sett’s verse makes me absolutely FERAL!! THE LYRICS. THE VIBE. THE INSTRUMENTALS. PerFECTION! ØZI fucking nailed it.)
When I first started thinking about this, I thought that Sett would be smug guy #3.
Now I’m not quite so stuck to that idea.
Oh don’t get me wrong, he’d definitely hug you and tease you once you saw him watching you and blushed a deep red.
But they would mainly be half-hearted teases.
And internally? You know this man is melting about you and how lucky he is to have you as his partner and how much he loves you.
Sett clearly has such a soft side for the people he truly loves and cares about.
Have you seen how much he adores his Mama???
You are like the only other person who can really bring that soft side out of him.
And catching you already having the lyrics to his verse down 100% is something that would bring that out of him.
Speaking of his Mama…
Sett would absolutely take photos or videos of you.
But they’re only going to one person.
That’s right, to Mama.
We’re going to assume that his mother really likes you and you really like her. (You think this man is going to be with someone his mother doesn’t get along with? BFFR)
Though let me say I think she’d be very easy to get along with.
Like I definitely don’t think she’s the mother-in-law from hell I keep seeing stories about on TikTok.
But anyway, he just wants to show off his favorite person to his other favorite person (who also adores his favorite person).
And little do you and Sett know but that just inspired Mama to knit you a sweater that matches the beanie she made that he wore in the MV. As like a holiday present!
(I’m so sorry this one was admittedly a little self-indulgent but I think it’s so cute!)
Yone:
Oh this man.
Obviously everyone has worked extremely hard so that Heartsteel can debut. Everyone has had late nights and long days on little sleep.
But as Heartsteel’s main producer…
(Not to mention band mom!!)
Yone really had a record number of late nights at the studio.
Reworking a passage over and over and over….
And OVER
Until it’s right (or until Aphelios/Alune drag him out of the studio at 3am telling him to work on it tomorrow with fresh ears).
And he’d never tell you, but you know he’s felt really bad about all those late nights. All those nights he wasn’t with you.
Potential dates missed because of deadlines.
Not that you were angry with him or anything.
You love him and you know how much pressure he’s put on himself.
And the last thing you want to do is potentially add more pressure on him.
In fact, you and him made a routine the past couple months. Whenever he’d have to work on the weekends, you’d come over to his studio each night during the weekend and bring a movie/couple episodes of a show and takeout.
And he gladly lets you pull his attention away from work for other media and cuddles.
(I feel like in private Yone would be more cuddly than one might expect of a stoic man like him.)
But during these media breaks??
This tall man was like a damn koala the way he cuddled you (not that you were complaining).
So seeing you sing and dance to the song he produced…
Even though the production of this song meant you often went to bed alone….
Was so fucking cathartic for him.
It made him feel like every sacrifice was worth it. Just to see how happy you were to dance and sing to the song he put so much of himself into.
His expression would be so soft as he watched you.
And after you noticed him and gave him a smile, he’d come over and give you a hug, burying his face against your neck.
You are his MUSE, and don’t you forget it.
Ahh thank you for reading! This is my first bit of creative writing in over 5 years, so apologies if it’s not great!
Shout out to @coco6420 for telling me on my main account to not stop myself when I talked about being tempted to post headcanons for Arcane/Heartsteel. Well here we go. 😂

⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ WHO’S GONNA KNOW YOU? (ME.)
↳ the chronicles of jj & smartiepants!
(american)footballer!jason grace x fem!reader
masterlist | rules
on the radio . . . the tortured poets department (taylor swift)
an SHES BACKKK!!!!! anw the song isn’t really their vibe i just got that line from there in case anyone was wondering!
you and jason have been through a lot together
from meeting in high school under the pouring rain, when he was the captain of jupiter high’s football team and you were just the new girl who transferred all the way from new york in an attempt to escape your past, to eventually dating, graduating high school and university and moving into your first apartment, it was safe to say neither one of you was going anywhere
which was why it was only natural for jason to propose to you eventually. if he could’ve had it his way, the two of you would’ve been married as soon as you threw your graduation caps up at the sky, but he he had to be patient. marriage was serious (jason knew this all too well, having seen how his own mother’s marriages turned out) and he wanted the two of you to be fully settled into your new lives outside of school before starting your journey as mr and mrs grace
so, he bided his time. he focused on his career, wanting to build the perfect life for the two of you in the future, getting into an nfl team right after university and beginning to write his own book only a year later. he also focused on your career, maybe a little more than his own - he couldn’t help it, his love for you transcended the heavens themselves and he couldn’t be prouder of you for growing into the woman you currently are
since he loved you so dearly, jason’s first ever book was obviously going to be written about you. more specifically, your story and how you brought life into jason’s existence the moment your destinies intertwined. said first ever book was also finally going to be published in a week, and with the two of you being at the height of all aspects of life, there was no better time for jason to pop the question
he made a special copy just for you, with a note written at the end, and asked you to read it, feigning uncertainty about his writing despite having gone over it with his editors several times. how could you say no to those sweet, baby blue eyes?
every time jason saw you reading his book, he felt his heart beat faster at the knowledge of what was at the very end of it. he’d already asked you to let him know when you got close to the end as according to him, there was a part he had to see your reaction to (not a complete lie, for jason could never lie to you). it only took you three days to reach the final chapter out of excitement for what jason could’ve written
“okay, i’m gonna read it now…” you said, a grin on your face as you reached for the book on your bedside table. jason sat to you on your bed, a velvet box with the ring of your dreams sitting prettily in the pocket of his sweatpants. he bit his lip, trying his hardest to calm his nerves down
this didn’t go unnoticed by you. looking up to see him in his state, your brows furrowed and you scooted closer to your soon to be fiancé, delicately cupping his head with your hand, “hey, i’m sure it’ll be really good, you’re a natural at writing, jase!” you gave him a soft smile and didn’t continue reading until he nodded and smiled back
the last chapter was short and nearly brought you to tears, but what really started the waterworks was the note written at the end
y/n, i have loved you from the moment i saw the smile on your face when i offered to walk you home under my umbrella. you may not know this, but i actually lived in the complete opposite direction to your home at the time, and i didn’t get home until the sun set that day. however, i couldn’t be happier. as i lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling of my room, i realized i’d walk to the ends of the earth if it meant i’d get to see your smile. no one has known me the way you do, and i don’t think anyone ever will, my very heart and soul belong to you and you alone. so, will you let me do the honours of becoming your husband and spending the rest of eternity going wherever you go?
PS. this isn’t actually getting published. it’s too intimate of a moment for me to do so, and i know we’d both hate it
PPS. if you don’t want to get married, i understand
your smile was wobbly as you looked at jason through tear-filled eyes. your sweet jason, who was currently tearing up himself as he presented the most gorgeous wedding ring to you
putting the book aside, you jumped into his arms and peppered his face with kisses, your tears mixing with his own as you did so. pulling away, you said, “of course i’ll marry you, jason! you’re an idiot for that last comment,” the two of you laughed then, and, finally having released your energy, you lay in bed with your head on jason’s chest and his arms wrapped around your waist
placing a kiss on the top of your head, jason grinned at you and said, “well, i’m your idiot now, aren’t i, smartiepants?”
“you’ve always been my idiot, silly,” you replied, a sigh of pure joy escaping your lips. despite the anticipation of the new journey you and jason were beginning together, the two of you found sleep immediately, dreaming of each other under the moonlit sky

When he thought he'd moved on (ex-boyfriend!txt)
Warnings: not really gender neutral
note: when I started this I wondered if it was appropriate, please let me know if there is any problem. sad hours open, I guess.
Soobin
The cafe was quiet, just the way he liked it. This was your meeting place; even if the place was closed, the two of you would meet here. He got here early, the table in the corner waiting for him as always. The owner had smiled at him and said hello, recognising him as a long-time customer.
As he pulls his earphones from his pocket and begins to detangle them, he unconsciously bounces his leg, an old habit. Soobin's thoughts are distracted, the new song he wants to show you by his favourite band occupying his mind. He's sure you'll like it - he's slowly converted you to a fan over the years.
Once the wires of the earphones are all straightened out, and he plugs them into his phone. The ear with a green sharpie heart is his side, the one with the blue is yours, a little faded from so many bus rides and time spent in bed sharing music together.
The bell on the door grabs his attention, and he looks up - and remembers. It wasn't you who he was meeting. This isn't your meeting place anymore. He feels guilty about being excited, more guilty about forgetting that he's supposedly moved on. Still, he grins painfully convincingly as she takes the seat across from him, as if this was what he had been expecting all along. He tries to figure out how he could have forgotten that this is how things are now, nodding as she is talking, although he doesn’t hear a word.
Yeonjun
Yeonjun doesn't know what day it is, what time it is. All he knows is his phone is ringing, dragging him from his much needed sleep. With a long groan he rolls toward the edge of the bed, not even daring to open his eyes and expose them to the bright light of the sun he can now see from behind his eyelids. Which means he hasn't looked at the caller ID. Which means he answers the way he normally would, half asleep and his brain not quite engaged. He answers with your name.
But it's not you. The voice that replies is so different from yours that it snaps him awake entirely. He is so disappointed he doesn't even panic, his voice so groggy he can play it off that she heard him wrong. After a short conversation, most of which he wasn't paying attention for, he throws the phone into the covers and wonders if he's made a big mistake by starting something new.
Beomgyu
He can't remember much about the dream, only your smile, your eyes, and your hand in his. Now he's awake, and the bed is familiarly warm, the sound of soft breathing behind him. He rolls over with a contened sigh, reaching arms out to pull you against his chest, pressing his nose into your hair. He feels a cheek nuzzle against his neck and all feels right with the world.
"Did you get a new shampoo?" he asks, voice rough with its first use of the day. He lazily pulls his head back and opens his eyes, and reality cracks down over his head like an egg when he sees her.
"No," comes her reply.
It's the first time she's stayed over, the first time anyone has stayed over but you. He was totally fine with it last night. Now it feels so gut wrenchingly wrong. Maybe he should wait a while longer before letting her stay again.
Taehyun
It's been a long, long day. Every muscle aches, and even his brain feels like a muscle with how tired he is. He drops his bag at the door and kicks off his shoes, the sofa calling to him longingly from across the room. The minute his back is on the soft cushion, he knows he'll fall asleep here, but he's not sure that he cares - he's fallen asleep worse places than this. Flicking on the TV, the first thing he sees is an ad about an upcoming movie, a remake of an old classic. He smiles.
"Hey babe," he calls out, "we should take your mom to see this, it's her favourite."
Hearing the familiar creak of the floorboards leading into the kitchen he glances up, and his smile falters. How could he have forgotten? She's looking at the screen with a confused expression, shaking her head. "No, it's not. I've never heard of it." She swings around to look at him now. "Have you even met my mom yet?"
He blinks, somehow feeling more drained than he was before. "Oh... I meant my mom."
Maybe he will go to bed after all.
Huening Kai
He's looking at the photos again, the ones in his phone that he keeps telling himself he'll delete. But every time he pulls them up to get rid of them, he finds he can't. He should, he knows he should, but it seems his head and his heart are at war.
He spends so long flicking through them, there are so many, accumulated over the years you spent together. He lands on his favourite; the two of you at the carnival. The memories the photo brings are so vivid, so precious, he swears he can remember every detail; the temperature of the air, the foods you ate, even the songs you listened to on the way home, car windows down and an impressive amount of sugar in your systems as you sang and bopped along. His mind replays the scene of the two of you on a ride, your laughter amidst the screams of other riders, clutching onto each other's arms for dear life, and how you almost dropped your phone as you reached out to capture the moment.
Kai forgets himself, forgets where he is right now, that this isn't your room he's lounging in, and a loud laugh bursts from him. When his joy filled eyes turn to meet hers, she is giving him an incredulous look over the top of her computer screen. He snaps out of it in an instant and tucks his phone away, apologising with a duck of his head. What is he going to do about those photos?

Sharing a bed is peak Appleradio potential but lemme run with the idea of Alastor suffering through sleepless night and all of the above
If he can help it, Al will stay awake for as long as he can until he passes out, and wherever he goes to lie down and rest is anyone's guess but I like to think he hides in the guest rooms of the hotel, the darkest corners like the closets, under the beds, anywhere where no one can see or find him
During the start of their relationship Alastor never slept in a bed with Lucifer for months. It was a thing Lucifer didn't know how to tread upon since Alastor will deflect the questions or attempts to sleep in the same bed, and that's it, nothing but lying in bed, sleeping. No touching required
With some gentle persuasion and endless promises not to do anything but close their eyes and lay in bed for 8 hours, Alastor caved and they were sharing a bed late one night
And it was... nice. Very nice. The presence of Lucifer alone calmed his mind, he can hear the soft breathing of the man beside him and the small shifts whenever Lucifer rolled around in bed. It put him at ease, his eyes closed, taking in the scent of his partner, and....
He can't move, why can't he move, he's still in bed but it feels wrong, so very wrong, wait where's Lucifer, where did he go he was right here a second ago, why are the shadows creeping towards him, they look more jagged and seem to sneer at him like he's a disgusting piece of meat, wait his throat, why can't he breathe, what is sitting on his chest no wait-his windpipe is being crushed-what is happening why can't he breathe!?!!?!? His hands, they're stuck, his vision is getting blurry, the shadows are laughing at him and begin to swallow him, suffocating him even more, he tries calling for help but all that comes out is a bleat-
Lucifer is in a panic when he gets woken up by the tremors on the bed and witnessing his partner suffering through Sleep Paralysis, he calls Alastor by his name and what he gets is a bleat in response and his heart throbs at the impact the sound makes
He wants to touch but fights the need bc there is no good outcome from it so he continues to call Alastor gently, coaxing him out of his petrified state by giving him reassurance after reassurance and remaining close by but not touching so that Alastor can feel his presence
It was grueling to hear his partner make broken sounds and painful to get sharp popping noises and drowned out radio static, but Alastor fully wakes up and Lucifer is so relieved
But Al, Al is frozen, silent, breathing heavy as his eyes dart around the room, like he's looking for something, and Lucifer sees how frantic he is, he's getting ready to run-
And Alastor is startled when a wispy outline of a duck nuzzles his cheek what-
Said duck waddles into his line of sight, exaggerated movements and soft chirps drawing Al's attention away from his downward spiral. A second joins the first, then a third, fourth and fifth. They're following each in a figure eight pattern and harmonizing together
And Alastor is mesmerized by the scene, his smile small and exhausted but calm and less strained, radio static softer with a hint of a song coming into focus as the display calms him, breathing steady
And maybe this becomes a thing before they go to bed or when another Sleep Paralysis/Nightmare happens and maaaybe Alastor would inch closer and closer to Lucifer until their backs would touch and sleeping becomes a little bearable

Vampires vs Bath time
Marko x reader x Paul
Summary: your two blond vampire boyfriends visit you and things get a little steamy ;)
Author's note: I might do full smut part two we shall see
A cool breeze ruffled my hair, the smell of the sea being carried by it. That was one of the few perks of living right near the boardwalk, the fresh smell of the salty ocean.
Another perk was that I was close to my boys.
Ah, my boys. How could I begin to describe my undead delinquents? Well you have David, the ring leader, charming sinister energy to him at first but once you get to know him he had a soft spot for his lost boys. Dwayne is the silent brooding type, he loves reading and riding his bike with the others. Marko and Paul, the messy mischief makers filled with a childish hyperactiveness to them.
When I first met my boys they were well they were kind of a mess, only washing in the ocean, living then with frizzy matted hair- they would occasionally use the public showers near the boardwalks, but after meeting them I was adamant that they should keep good hygiene, especially if we were to all be in a relationship. David and Dwayne followed my rule and would pop in to have a proper hot shower or bath.
Now, Paul and Marko.... would try their best to remember but they would often get caught up in their shenanigans.
My radio was playing a loud rock song that reminded me of a thrilling night in the cave. I danced around my room without a care until the sound of a shrill wolf whistle and catcalling made me jump out of my skin. Spinning around to face my open window, I saw none other than the pair of blonde vamps. Their faces and clothes smeared with thick blood.
"What the hell" I whisper shouted at them.
"Aww baby don't be like that, it was a good show" Paul said with a smirk while Marko was giggling like a mad man. "Hurry in before anyone sees you" I said, shaking my head trying to suppress a smile at their antics.
"Do not touch anything" I said sternly as they came through my window. I walked to my set of draws and got the pair some comfy clothes to chuck on while I put their blood-drenched clothes in the wash. "Let me guess you were playing with your food and got too messy?" I asked them over my shoulder. "You could say that” David said “We were starting to stink up the place" Marko mumbled, like a child being told off. "I think we could have gone a few more days before we needed a good wash" Paul said in a joking manner.
"Gross" I stated.
Putting the boy's respective comfy clothes on my bed, I turned to the pair to inspect which of them needed a more thorough approach. Looking at Paul, he didn't seem too bad. His hair was stiff, as were his clothes- covered in deep, sticky blood. But other than that he didn't seem too bad. Marko, on the other hand, had his shirt half ripped and his soaked jacket looked particularly crusty. His chaps had seen better days, not to even mention how his hair was stuck together, all matted with blood clots.
"Paul you're up first, Marko baby you need extra care. I swear if you boys continue this I'll start treating you like actual dogs and just put you in the paddling pool and hose you down" I threatened
"Woof" Marko said smirking causing Paul to explode with laughter
"Sugar, we aren't that bad" he said breathlessly between laughs. I just hummed in response, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the bathroom. "Baby, you just stay there. You can read some comics on my desk, I don't mind you getting a mess on my desk chair" I told him over my shoulder.
Turning on the taps of my bath, I added some soap and set some shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the side of the tub.
"Strip" I said pointing to the bath.
"Oooh, no need to be so snappy. If you wanted me naked you should just ask nicely" he said in a seductive tone.
"Not tonight casanova" I told him, causing him to pout.
I walked out of the bathroom giving him his privacy to get in the tub. Waiting, till I heard him shout through the door he was ready. I opened the door to collect his clothes.
"Hey baby, do you think you can wash my hair?" he asked softly. "Of course I can sweetie" I smiled.
Popping my head back into my room after I had put Paul's clothes into the washing machine, I was met with the sight of Marko, with his feet kicked up on my desk engrossed in one of my many comics. I made my way back to the bathroom, knocking on the door and waiting for a response before making my way in.
Paul lay in the bath, his wet hair pooling around his broad shoulders, his face and chest absent of the blood that was there earlier that night. "Hey Paulie" I said softly as I kneeled by the bath. He gave me a sweet smile as he sat up giving me better access to his head.
I truly loved nights like these with my boys. Sure they were killers, but they were also the boys that always treated me with love and care.
Kissing Paul's shoulder, I leaned for the shampoo, squirting some on my hand and massaging it into his scalp, causing Paul to let out a soft groan, my nails raking across his head."Have I told you how much I love you?" Paul breathlessly groaned as I started pouring water gently over his hair. “I'm always happy to hear it baby” I said, kissing his shoulder again.
I continued rinsing his hair until it was free of soap, repeating the process with the conditioner. “I could get used to this” Paul sighed, as the water sloshed round the tub as he started to stand up. “Well, I'm glad to hear that because I would prefer it if my boyfriend didn't smell like a corpse when I see him” I chuckled, wrapping a towel around his waist before he stepped out of the bath. “Aww, don't you find the smell of rotting sexy babe” he teased, wrapping his arms around my shoulders, pulling me into his bare chest. “Hmmm. Nope. I don’t think it is” I joked into his chest.
“Come on pretty boy, Marko needs a bath and a good scrub” I said, kissing his chest, causing a deep rumble to spread through him.
“Your clothes are on the bed and the hair dryer is in my desk drawer” I said, opening the door of the bathroom for him.
I leaned down putting my hand in the now lukewarm water to pull out the plug and let it drain .
Leaning my shoulder against the doorframe of my room, I watched as Paul moved over to my desk where Marko was sat. Paul leaned over him to get to the draw, allowing Marko to quickly lean up and kiss his jaw. “You smell nice” he told him. “Thanks bud” he said with a soft smile, retrieving the hair dryer.
Moving back to the bathroom as the last of the bath water emptied out, I replugged it, filling it with hot water and more soap, waiting until the bath was full until I called on Marko.
After a few minutes, he hadn't come. I decided to see why he was taking so long, walking over to my desk and leaning down over his shoulder. “Marko baby, why aren't you coming to the bathroom?” I asked softly.
“Babe, this comic is bitchin’. Look!” he said, excitedly showing me the panels of two characters fighting. Chuckling, I kissed his temple. “That's pretty cool, but ya gotta get a wash baby”. He groaned as he put the comic down.
We both moved to the bathroom where the bath was almost full of hot water and soap. “Pass me your jacket” I told the blond vampire. He shrugged off his jacket with a sigh. Giving a quick thank you, I moved his jacket to the kitchen where I could hand wash it.
I knocked on the door of the bathroom and waited for the okay from Marko to come in.
“Hey” he said, as I entered the steamy bathroom. “Hi” I smiled.
Marko was sat up straight in the water. Unlike Paul, he hadn’t bothered to rid his face and chest of congealed and dried blood .
Kneeling by the bathtub, I soaked the washcloth in the water, bringing it up to Marko’s face and gently scrubbed his chin. “You're both such messy eaters, you know that?” I asked with a chuckle. “We can’t help it babe, we just get a lil excited is all” he stated with a smile. I chuckled slightly at his response.
Gently, I grabbed his chin and tilted his head back so that I could wipe the blood from his neck. Occasionally, I would re-wet the cloth until his neck was clear of blood. I placed a set of soft kisses on his neck, up to his jawline. Pulling away from Marko, I dipped the cloth back in the water.
“Why are you so gentle with us?” he questioned.
“What do you mean?” I asked, while tilting my head and smiling softly.
“Well, I mean, you’re so soft with us. You make sure we are clean, and I mean- well look at you. You’re cleaning a bloodthirsty creature of the night” he stated. “I mean, you wash Pauls hair, you give David massages when he gets worked up, you sit and read with Dwayne, and don’t even get me started on how soft you are with Laddie. You buy him allsorts. You treat us so well and I don’t understand why” he said bewildered
“Hmm. Well, the answer is simple” I said as I brought my soapy hand up to his cheek. “It’s because I love you all, so very dearly” I smiled sweetly.
Marko broke out into a wide smile. “Awww, babe. You love us? Ewww” He joked as he pulled me into a kiss.
Pulling away, I gave him a soft look.“Alright lover boy, I should really wash your hair now. It’s all matted” I said. Sternly grabbing the bottle of shampoo, I started to lather his hair. “It smells like you” he mumbled to himself as I continued the process of lathering and rinsing until there were no more suds in his hair.
Grabbing the conditioner, I gently raked it through his hair before grabbing a comb to get the knots out of his curly hair, being careful not to pull and hurt him. Once I was done running the conditioner through his hair, I rinsed it all out.
“Alright, I'm gonna give your jacket a wash. I’m sure you can handle the rest from here” I said. Standing from the bathroom floor, I moved to the door.
Before I stepped down the stairs I went to check on Paul, he was on my bed, towel still low on his hips as he read one of the comics Marko had earlier. He’d turned the rock music on my radio higher, seeming comfortable
I carefully made my way down the stairs with the rest of Markos clothes in my arms. I walked into the kitchen, putting his jeans and shirt in the washing machine and setting it away along with Paul's clothes. The sloshing sound of the washer filling with water engulfed the silent kitchen. Grabbing Marko’s jacket, I filled the sink with cold water and detergent then began gently scrubbing at the blood stains, carefully, so as to not ruin it. I hummed a random song I had heard from the radio earlier as I worked away to rid the jacket of all the blood soaking it.
I stiffened as a pair of cold hands made their way round my waist.
“What you doing down here all by yourself?” Paul hummed huskily in my ear as his hand made its way under my shirt.
“Ah! Paul baby, your hands are freezing” I squealed, trying to squirm away from him.
“Well, you can help me warm them up” He mumbled against my skin. Paul started to drag his lips slowly down my neck until he reached the junction where my neck met my shoulders. I hummed at the feeling of his soft lips on the crook of my neck, the sensation sending shockwaves through my body.
“I heard you and Marko in the bathroom” He whispered as he began kissing and nibbling back up my neck to my ear, causing me to let out a low huffy breath. “We love you too” he said as he pulled away, causing my hairs to stand on end.
Groaning at the loss of one of my vampire boyfriends body on mine, I turned to see his face lit up with a devilish smirk.
“Come on, Marks waiting” He informed, deciding I could finish washing markos jacket later. I dried my hands on a dish towel before following Paul up the stairs to my room.
As I entered the room I was met with the sight of Marko drying his hair with the spare towel I had given him earlier.
“Hey baby” He said joyfully with a smile. I chuckled at his joy. Paul had once again wrapped himself around me as he swayed to the rock music on the radio. He would occasionally place kisses along my neck.
Marko soon made his way over to us both. He placed one of his hands on my hips as he brought the other to my cheek to pull me into a passionate kiss.
The feeling of Marko’s lips on mine mixed with the feeling of Paul’s nibbling kisses and occasionally licking my neck made my head spin.
“Boys” I groaned at there attack as I pulled away from Marko for air, leaning my head back.
This only allowed the pair to continue their attack. Marko dove in, attaching his lips to the underside of my jaw.
Paul pulled away giggling. “Aww, look Marko, we have them melting” Paul teased, causing the other boy to pull away with a smile.
“You boys are the worst”. I groaned at the loss of their touch.
“You sure about that sugar?” Paul said as he tilted my chin to pull me into a passionate kiss. Marko trailed his cold hands from my hips up my stomach, the feeling of his cold fingertips trailing up my chest sent shivers down my spine, causing me to let out a moan into the kiss with paul.
Marko continued his path, his cold hand grabbed my chest with a dark chuckle. “Your heart is beating so fast baby. Do we really get you going that bad?” He said as he lifted my shirt and kissed my hip before he made his way up my stomach. The feeling of his soft breathing on my skin made my stomach muscles tense. It felt like the most heavenly torture.
He pulled away, making me internally groan. “You made them all whiney” Paul cooed in mock sympathy, causing Marko to giggle as he pulled my shirt off.
His nails gently dragged my hips closer to his face the cold tip of his nose hitting just above my hip made my body shiver in anticipation, Markos eye flitted up to mine then to pauls.
Paul's hand trailed up my chest his hand trailed up my chest to my his hands were soft as he moved my head slightly to the side and slowly licked up my neck before I felt the nipping feeling of his teeth dragging along the tender skin below my ear. Marko had pulled away from my hip his fingers digging under the hem of my jeans with a smirk “mmm hey paul do you think they are desperate enough” he rasped to the other vampire “nope” paul replied Marko breathily My room once filled with loud rock music was replaced by my own breathy wines and moans mixed with the raspy teasing giggles of Marko and paul they really did love teasing.

“Say the word and I’ll handle him,” Imogen offers, picking at her nails with disinterest. She’s been itching for another fight since her last opponent tapped out after ten seconds.
The tall redhead sitting across from him notices you’re looking in their direction, and he kicks his friend under the table. He looks away quickly, starting a conversation with the rest of the group. Not discreet at all.
“Hurting anyone in Sorrengail’s squad wouldn’t go over well with Xaden. And look at him. He’s harmless,” you defend.
“He definitely doesn’t want to kill you,” Liam agrees. “He’s just smitten.”
You glance to your right again. He has his back turned now, still engaged in conversation with his friends, who are all laughing at something he said.
So he’s the class clown type. Interesting.
Imogen scoffs. “He can bark up that tree all he wants, but we all know it’ll never get him anywhere.”
--------------------------------------
And bark he does. You can’t shake the guy and his sunny personality. He’s everywhere you are, always having something to say, some shameless line to drop on you.
“If I make this bullseye, you have to let me take you out for dinner. There’s an amazing pasta place in town, you’ll love it.”
“No,” you say flatly.
“You don’t like pasta?” He asks, and you know that if you say you don’t, he’ll just offer something else.
“I do. But we’re not going out.”
He misses by an inch and a half anyway.
You pick up one of your own blades, weighing it carefully in one hand before pulling it back and letting sail. It lands to the left of his, in the dead center of the target.
He doesn’t look embarrassed in the slightest. “Alright, we’ll stay in and work on my aim. Just you, me, and a whole rack of knives. What do you say?”
“I’d say that putting us in a room with one weapon is a bad idea.”
He grins. “There’s just something undeniably sexy about a woman who wants to kill me.”
“I don’t want to kill you.” It’s true -- you have no ill will toward the guy, you just wish he’d quit while he’s behind.
“That might be the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
You falter for a moment, thinking about it. You don’t think you’ve ever been objectively mean to him, just blunt in declining his advances.
“You’re moving your arm too much,” you say instead, yanking your dagger out of the wood panel, but leaving his where it stands, off-center. “Less in the elbow, more in the wrist.”
You don’t stick around to watch him try again.
--------------------------------------
Nothing seems to discourage him, not your dry responses nor being ignored completely. He’s determined to keep chipping away at your shell, but why?
“Is your dragon mated? I was thinking we could go on a double date. Aotrom’s an upstanding guy, she’d like him.”
You can’t even begin to imagine the conversations this guy must have with his dragon. Is he as weary of the boy’s enthusiasm as you are, or is he encouraging this behavior?
“I’d consider it if he wasn’t missing so many teeth,” Rhith muses. “But he’s a bit old for my taste.”
“Their personalities wouldn’t mesh at all,” you answer, as if you’re speaking about Rhith and Aotrom, and not you and Ridoc.
“I think if she gave him a chance, she’d change her mind,” he says slyly.
“I don’t date men under six foot.”
He mimes taking a knife to the chest. “You wound me, sweetheart. But I promise I can make up for it in all the ways that matter.”
“With that dazzling sense of humor?”
“I was going to make a dick joke, actually. But I’m glad you think I’m dazzling.”
You roll your eyes, leaving.
--------------------------------------
You have never considered yourself vain, but you’d spent a full minute admiring your reflection in the bathroom mirror before heading down for the festivities.
The formal dress looks incredible on you. Tight in all the right places, the cut highlights the muscle you’ve gained since starting the term at Basgiath, but it covers enough to still be somewhat professional.
You don’t need jewelry -- your rebellion relic is the perfect accessory, the black swirls forming the illusion of a lace sleeve up one arm, complimenting the black satin draped over your skin.
You’d even fixed up your hair for the occasion, freeing it from its usual sweaty braids and washing and drying it carefully, letting it fall over the exposed curves of your shoulders. Simple. Perfect.
Imogen hadn’t hesitated to hype you up when she saw you, her jaw dropping at the sight. “Holy shit, girl, you look hot. If you’ve ever wanted to fuck anyone in the quadrant, tonight would be the night to do it.”
You laugh. “I’ll be perfectly content to have a calm night. Some boring speeches, some fireworks, and then straight to bed.”
“Suit yourself,” she calls, headed off.
“Someone should tell Amari that she’s missing an angel.”
You don’t need to turn to know who it is, but you look over your shoulder at him anyway.
Ridoc continues to wax poetic, a lazy smile on his face. “You are a goddess among men. The kind of woman bards write songs about and men go to war over.”
“How many drinks have you had?”
“None,” Sawyer answers for his friend, sounding like he could use one himself. “This is just the way he is.”
Ridoc agrees, grinning. “Stone cold sober, gorgeous. I want to remember this sight forever.”
You laugh at his bold absurdity, and the light, clear sound goes straight to his heart.
He beams even brighter. “You laughed. That’s a crack in the armor.”
“You’re a menace to society, Gamlyn.”
“Gods, I love it when you’re mean to me,” he says with a dreamy sigh. “I’m gonna write about this in my diary when I get back to my room.”
“Goodnight,” you say, ending the conversation, or trying to.
“Someday, sweetheart,” he calls, watching you walk away. “I’ll get there someday, I know I will.”
--------------------------------------
You should already be on the flight field, but the fear gripping your heart has your boots stuck to the stone ground of the courtyard. You’ll be no use to your friends in this state, anyway. You need to relax.
You close your eyes for a moment, picturing the meadows of Tyrrendor. A dozen blue butterflies materialize in front of you, the gentle motion of their wings as they float through the night air soothing your nerves.
“Whoa.”
You startle, and the butterflies vanish, your head snapping toward the voice.
Ridoc stands a few yards away, still in his dress uniform, though he’s undone the first two buttons of the shirt, rolled up the sleeves and ditched the jacket entirely. A few dark locks fall across his forehead, loosened from the gel that had been holding them earlier.
He looks good like this. Too good.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he offers. “I’ve just never seen anything like them before. They’re beautiful.”
You compose yourself quickly. “They’re native to Tyrrendor. They don’t live anywhere else on the continent.”
“You’ll have to show me the real ones sometime,” he says, smiling.
You raise an eyebrow at the implication that you’d be bringing him home any time soon.
He continues, not missing a beat. “I may look like a hotshot dragon rider, which I am, but we both know you’d be the one in charge between us. I’d do anything you asked, sweetheart.”
“Anything except leave me alone?” you ask, regretting the sharp words as soon as they enter the air.
He’s silent. Maybe you’ve finally proven your point, proven to both him and yourself that you’re no good for him, that you don’t deserve the starry-eyed reverence he’s afforded you for months.
A whistle echoes across the courtyard, a three-note gliss you’d recognize anywhere; the one your parents had used to call you inside for dinner when you were kids.
You don’t turn toward the sound, still looking at Ridoc. For the first time ever, he isn’t smiling at you, and it feels like the world has stopped turning, that the sun has burnt out and the moons have disappeared from the sky.
You’re sick with guilt, struggling to form complete sentences. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to… that was a really fucked up thing for me to say. I just… I don’t understand why you-”
“Hurry up,” Garrick calls, impatient. “Xaden is pissed.”
“You should go,” Ridoc says softly. “We can talk about this another day.”
Why is he looking at you like that after what you’d said to him? Why does he still care about you? Why did he in the first place?
“Be safe,” he adds quietly, and that’s enough for you to finally move your feet, to run toward your foster brother, to follow him and Xaden to gods-know-where for their final assignment.
Garrick’s words go in one ear and out the other as you race toward the flight field. It doesn’t matter where you’re going or what you have to do, only that you come back, that you see Ridoc again and tell him the truth.
--------------------------------------
The next few days go by in a blur, devoid of color. You’re barely aware of your existence, just going through the motions to keep yourself alive. You sleep, you eat, but your dreams are blank and the food tasteless.
You settle onto the cold stone of the main staircase, leaning your cheek against the banister.
It’s easy enough to conjure a few of the soft blue butterflies, watching them flutter about above your head. You reach forward, extending your hand to one, and it lands on your finger, flapping its wings gently.
“You’re getting really good at that,” Garrick says quietly, sitting down on the step above you.
Five years living as siblings has attuned him to your emotions -- he knows that something is wrong, that something had been wrong even before you were sent on this suicide mission and lost two of your friends. “Do you want to talk about what happened when I came to get you?”
You really don’t, but the words come out anyway. “I fucked up,” you whisper, still watching the butterflies. The sight of them only reminds you Ridoc, of the soft awe that had lingered in his eyes even after they’d disappeared — until you’d snapped at him. Gods, the look on his face…
You push the thought away, and they fade back into air. “I hurt him, because I was scared.”
“Scared of what?” He asks. There’s no judgment in his tone, just gentleness; he genuinely wants to understand.
“That he was being serious, that he actually likes me,” you answer. “I keep pushing him away, but he keeps coming back, he keeps looking at me like… like I mean something to him, and I don’t understand why. He doesn’t know me, he isn’t one of us, he isn’t even in my squad. There’s no reason for him to care about me.”
Garrick lets your words hang in the air for a moment before he speaks. “I thought it was fitting that you developed an illusion signet.”
You look up, waiting for him to elaborate.
“It took me a full year to figure you out when we met, to realize that the person you really are on the inside doesn’t match the person that you show people. I think he saw right through that perpetual stone-faced look, saw the girl that I’m proud to call a sister.”
“You really think so?” You ask quietly.
“I know so.”
You rest your head against his shoulder, a gesture that he knows is equivalent to a tight embrace from anyone else -- you’ve never been a touchy person.
You’ve never been good at feelings, either. “It’s too damn quiet in this house,” you say after a moment, changing the subject.
He laughs. “It really is.”
--------------------------------------
Ridoc is standing in front of you.
You’re relieved at the sight of him, that no terrible fate befell him in the week you’d been away, but you can’t handle the conversation that you need to have, not when you feel like your heart is going to give out.
“I can’t do this right now,” you say, but the words don’t come out as strongly as you’d hoped, not enough air in your lungs to speak properly. “So if you could find somewhere else to be, that would be great.”
In true Ridoc fashion, he isn’t discouraged by your protests, kneeling down next to you. “Can you look at me, sweetheart?”
His seriousness confuses you enough to comply. You raise your chin, stunned at the softness in his eyes -- you’ve never been this close to him before. He’s beautiful.
“I’m gonna check your pulse, okay?”
You nod silently, allowing him to extend a hand toward you. Two fingers press into the side of your neck, feeling for your heartbeat.
He’s never touched you before. His hands are warm.
“Do you know where you are?”
“Basgiath,” you answer easily.
“Good. How long have you been sitting here?”
“I don’t know. Since we got out of formation?”
He realizes exactly what upset you — that must have been your first flight since you got back from War Games with the rest of the marked ones.
“I don’t know what you saw out there, and you don’t need to tell me, but whatever it is, it can’t hurt you right now,” he promises. The genuine sincerity in his voice has the tears falling faster.
Through your blurred vision you see him open his arms, and you lean into them without hesitation. He’s so warm that you can’t help but melt as soon as your skin touches his.
He rubs your back, speaking softly. “You’re okay, pretty girl, you’re safe. Just breathe with me, okay?”
You attempt to match the even pace of his chest rising and falling against yours, deepening your shuddering breaths.
“That’s it,” he soothes. “You’re doing great.”
Grief comes flooding out of you, and you clutch at the fabric of his flight jacket to remain upright. “I miss them so much,” you sob. “They didn’t deserve to die.”
Liam and Soleil, the two marked ones that hadn’t come back with you.
“I know, sweetheart. I’m so sorry.”
He continues to rub your back, murmuring soft reassurances to you until your grip on him has loosened and your breathing has slowed.
You’ve relaxed, your heart no longer pounding as it had been when he found you, but you still don’t want him to go, you couldn’t bear it if he left right now. “Stay?” You ask in a small voice.
“Of course,” he answers, pulling back to sit beside you. “As long as you need.”
Your tears have dried, leaving you with a headache and a hollow feeling in your sinuses. “Why did you help me?” You ask quietly, looking out at the river.
He wraps an arm around your shoulders. “Because it was the right thing to do. And because I can’t stand to see pretty girls cry.”
“Of course you’re back to cracking jokes already.”
“I’ve never been joking with you,” he says, shaking his head. “I meant every word I said to you, sweetheart. You’re beautiful, but you’re so much more than that, too. You’re capable, strong, witty, kind, caring, gentle… everything about you is good, and I wish that people would see past the relic on your arm and realize that.”
You blink at him, stunned.
“It’s true,” he says softly. “When you smiled at me that day at challenges, I knew that there was a soft heart under all that steel.”
A soft heart. A sweet heart.
There’s a moment of quiet while you work up the courage.
“Is that pasta place still there?”
He laughs, perhaps a little too loudly, but you’ve grown to love that sound, and the way it shakes his chest is comforting, like the rumble of a thunderstorm when you’re safe and dry indoors. “I think so.”
“Wanna go there tomorrow? Together?”
He grins from ear to ear. “Are you asking me out right now, sweetheart?”
You look over at him. “Yeah. I am.”
“This is going in the diary too, for the record.”
You can’t help but laugh, leaning back against him. If only for a moment, your anxiety has melted away.
You feel like you could face anything, as long as you have Ridoc to come home to.

The Fall Out Boy Year in Review
Because did anything else happen in 2023?????
This was a band that started this year with a bunch of people with all these theories that they were going to announce their retirement and they ended the year rejuvenated, reenergized, ready to go.
Let me count the ways Fall Out Boy was amazing this year:
At the very beginning of the year, they gave a performance, and Pete and Patrick did a pre-show interview, and Pete leaned his hand on Patrick’s shoulder and they grinned and grinned at each other and it was amazing and it was like, “Is this how the year is going to go????” AND LO, THAT’S HOW THE YEAR WENT.
The show at the Metro, when they threw Calm Before the Storm into the setlist and it felt so extraordinary and the crowd just shouted every word at them and then they played their first “Saturday” of the year and Patrick said how it always means a lot to them but it means more at home, YOU SEE, THE WHOLE YEAR WAS LIKE THIS.
They went to a gay bar and Pete and Patrick approvingly joked about sucking dick, so YEAH, THEN THAT HAPPENED.
Pete said that at least once a week he was told by people that their faces would melt off if they played this song live, so he wanted to see faces melting off, and then Patrick barreled into Headfirst Slide and the crowd was so loud at him that he let them take the “get unique” line, grinning the whole time, EVERYTHING WAS LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME.
I’m five points in and just getting to the fact that they released a new album and it was incredible from start to finish, every single song was amazing and extraordinary and so very them and so very what it’s like to be alive in 2023. THE ALBUM WAS GREAT AND WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH ON ITS OWN BUT THEN SO MUCH MORE STUFF HAPPENED.
Then they ran around promoting this album and Patrick said that Pete is his reason for getting out of bed in the morning and that’s one of, like, sixteen different proclamations of adoration about Pete that he made in a span of a week BECAUSE THE WHOLE YEAR WAS JUST LIKE THIS.
Then they went on tour and somehow got it into their heads to play a new song every night, just, like, why not, right, just pulling all the most meaningful songs of their career out of their back pockets as if they had never given the impression that they would never, ever play that song, BUCKLE UP, THE WHOLE RIDE WAS JUST BEGINNING.
Pete gave a speech about how he doesn’t lay under a blanket thinking about being dead anymore, oh my god, these boys who figured out finally how much they’re loved, HOW THIS ALL HAPPENED IS AMAZING.
We got to watch Pete grow and develop all of his little concert speeches and then Pete was like, “Oh, also, I’ve decided to add in this feature called Riff with Patrick,” and all this segment was was them grinning at each other, because WHY NOT JUST ADD THIS TO EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR.
They released an updated version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire” and it’s fantastic and was a big hit for them and anyone who likes to think Fall Out Boy doesn’t know how to write lyrics because it’s not chronological needs to just think for two seconds about it, THE SONG IS GREAT AND THE YEAR ALREADY HAD SO MUCH AND THEN ANOTHER SONG!!!
Patrick. Played. “Spotlight.” Like. Unthinkable. Absolutely unthinkable. He played “Spotlight” and the crowd sang with him and he looked out and laughed and said, “That’s a lot of lights,” AND THEN THE YEAR COULD HAVE ENDED BUT IT DID NOT.
PATRICK PLAYED THE DRUMS, sorry, I will never be over that, ever, ever, ever, ever.
At some point in there Pete gave an interview with a rabbit puppet on his hand? And Patrick petted the puppet very carefully???? WHY WAS THIS YEAR LIKE THIS??????
Patrick sang “I’ve Got a Dark Alley” so gentle, so beautiful, so gorgeous, that it was like kintsugi being done right in front of our eyes, it still makes me cry to think of his version of that song, ALL THE GENTLENESS AND HOPE IN THIS EMO BAND THIS YEAR.
Patrick heard Pete struggling and turned to him to play “Bob Dylan” directly at him until he found his place, BECAUSE THAT WAS JUST HOW THIS YEAR WENT.
Meanwhile Patrick went stumbling over unfamiliar lyrics and Pete careened across the stage to get to him to rescue him, BECAUSE, AGAIN, THIS IS THEM IN 2023.
I went to a concert personally and they played me “Sweet Caroline” and “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” so THAT ALSO HAPPENED THIS YEAR AND IT WAS AMAZING AND PERFECT.
Patrick suggested they play “Pavlove.” ??? Hang on, read that again. Patrick. Suggested. They. Play. “Pavlove.” And then they. Played it. Like, yup, ALSO THAT HAPPENED.
Patrick said, quick and sincere in an unplanned aside, that he’s pretty sure this is the best tour they’ve ever done, EVERYONE WAS SO IN LOVE ALL YEAR.
Patrick suddenly decided to grow his hair long?????? Still don’t even know what that was all about, he was just like, 2023, FOLKS!!!
They played a Halloween show in the most Them costumes ever chosen BECAUSE WHY NOT?????
Then to close the year out Patrick dragged out “Yule Shoot Your Eye Out” ????? Like, again, WHY NOT???????
AND THEN “PAVLOVE” SHOWED UP ON STREAMING SERVICES, BECAUSE WHY NOT??????

instead of being sent off as a peacekeeper as punishment for cheating, coriolanus got his tongue lopped off and was sold as an avox. your family bought him, not knowing your history, and you can't help but feel bad for him.
a/n: hhh i love this au might make a longer fic out of it,,,

No one had heard a word from the boy since his tribute won the Hunger Games- He vanished just as she did. Did something happen? He wasn't there at graduation, nor was he there for the after-party. The party made sense, but the big graduation ceremony, where the announcement of who got the Plinth Prize took place? That was unheard of. To everyone's surprise, the prize money was distributed evenly between the top remaining students. How nice?
You and Coriolanus had a certain.. History. You could be seen as rivals, but there was a lot of underlying tension that said otherwise- And a certain drunken incident behind a club a year back. That was in the past, though. Neither of you mentioned it, no badly how much you wanted to.
Still, your mind couldn't help but wonder. He wouldn't miss something as big as this unless something happened..
It still felt off to you, but you brushed it off and decided to call it an early evening, already feeling tipsy from the posca you had consumed earlier. Your mansion was surprisingly bustling when you arrived home, Avox’s raising up and down the stairs. That was odd. Normally, it was only ever this busy when you had company, and you weren't aware of anyone coming over. Surprise change of plans?
“Mother?” You called out, slipping off your coat and hanging it up.
“Ah! There you are, darling.” Your mother entered the foyer, wearing her iconic bright smile. “Sorry about all of the.. Commotion.” She gestures to the tongueless servants running up and down the stairs with a hint of disgust. “We're getting your graduation present in order.”
“Aw.. Mom, you didn't have to do that.” You smile, and she pulls you into a hug.
“Nonsense, darling.” She pats your shoulder as she pulls away. “You've done so well, worked so hard.. It's the least we can do. You just go rest now. We'll take care of everything.” She kissed your cheek before dismissing you.
You wove your way between a few servants before finding yourself in your room, and you drift off to sleep nearly the second your head hit the pillow.
***
A few days later, your gift was ready. After a lush breakfast, your mother took your hand and led you to the servants quarters- Where the maids and Avox’s resided.
“Mother? What are we doing down here?”
“You'll see.” She said in a sing-song voice, leading you down an unfamiliar hallway. The chemical-y smell in the air gave away that it must be new. She paused in front of the door and turned towards you again.
“You're starting to truly become your own person, and that's a lot to handle on your own. Yes, you have help around the house, but… You need something a bit more personal. Someone who caters to your needs and your needs only, so..” She trailed off, grabbing the door knob and pushing the door open.
“Surprise!”
Oh, what a surprise indeed.
A boy sat hunched in the corner, shackled to the wall by his ankles with his knees pulled up to his chest. The light from a window on the wall opposite of him highlighted his blond curls and sharp features. Was he more than skin and bone at this point?
You took a step closer, only to find yourself face to face with him.
Coriolanus Snow.
“.. Oh my God.”
Your breakfast threatened to reappear.
Coriolanus’ head snapped up, and you got a better look at him. Sunken eyes, hollow cheekbones, chapped lips.. What had they done to the poor boy?
You were never a big fan of him to begin with, but.. This was just wrong. You took a hesitant step forward, and the boy flinched, cowering like a wounded animal.
“I'll leave you two to talk.” Your mother said a bit too cheerfully before leaving. How was everyone so okay with this?!
You kneeled in front of Coriolanus, watching the way his jaw tensed. “.. What the hell did they do to you?”
His chapped lips parted for a moment, like he was about to say something, but they quickly closed again. Oh, right, he can't say anything. The boy would live the rest of his life in silence.
You swallowed down the bile rising in your throat, turning your attention to the shackles around his ankles. The cuffs were far too tight and restrictive, leaving bright blue and purple splotches against his pale skin. There were a few marks around his wrists, implying further restriction, but they must've been removed earlier.
"Those look bad.” You muttered, reaching out to touch one of the bruises without even thinking about it. Coriolanus yanked his arm away from you, eyes narrowed in annoyance. “Sorry..”
You backed a step up before looking around in search of something to free hum. Nothing. Damn it. Your gaze traveled back to the blond. “.. I bet you're hungry, huh?”
He nodded after a moment, Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed awkwardly. Was it always that prominent? “How does some broth sound?”
A flash of life returned to his eyes for a second, extinguished by the reality of the situation. It nearly made your heart flutter.
You smiled softly. “Yeah? Alright.. Just give me a moment..”
***
You returned around 10-15 minutes later with your very own ‘Avox-Care-Kit’, complete with water, broth, a blanket, and general first aid. You still couldn't find the damn keys to his shackles.
Coriolanus almost looked relieved when you stepped back into the room, looking up at you like a puppy begging for food. How adorable.. Almost. It's a sick thought, but when he couldn't speak, he was almost bearable.
You draped the knitted blanket around his shoulders before setting the bowl of broth and water down in front of him. “I don't know how you are with solids yet.. We'll start small.”
Coriolanus mouthed a small ‘thank you’ before picking up the bowl with shaky hands and taking a sip. You watched as he swallowed, his face shifting into an expression of discomfort. He'd have to relearn how to eat.
The discomfort seemed to be somewhat tolerable as he downed the entire thing fairly quickly. The boy had never been that buff to begin with, but you'd certainly remember if he was this thin.
“.. So, uhm.. Can I ask you something? Or at least try?” Coriolanus nodded, looking puzzled. “Uhm.. Okay, how about..” You pulled out a sketchpad and pencil from your care-kit. Good idea, right? Until you found another way. You handed it to him.
“Okay.. What the hell did you do to end up as an Avox?” He cringed at the question, picking up the pencil and staring down at it in disdain before writing a sloppy answer and passing it back to you-
“Cheated. Don't ask.”
“Cheated..” You clicked your tongue. “Ah. Guess Highbottom wasn't kidding when he said cheaters wouldn't have a future, huh?” You joked. Coriolanus shot you a glare. Clearly, he didn't appreciate that. “.. Sorry.”
You cleared your throat awkwardly before standing back up. “I should probably go, uhm.. I have homework, and you need to rest.”
Coriolanus’ eyes widened a little, his brows creased with displeasure. He looked upset to see you go. In what world did Coriolanus Snow want you to stay by his side? The boy despised you.
Then again, this wasn't the same boy from the Academy. That playfully sinister glint in his eye was gone. This.. Was Coriolanus in his most vulnerable state. One where he couldn't say no. One where he had to listen. The tables had turned, for once.
Maybe you'd have to take advantage of that in the future.

You really had no business being here—shoved into a crowd at a rock concert for a band you’d never heard of. Corroded…something. But, by some cataclysmic fate you’d been shove to the front, body nearly leaning over the railing as the men on stage performed their hearts out, the crowd singing along to every song, hanging on to every word and it felt unreal watch something like this live, and needless to say, you were entranced.
Your friend had disappeared a few minutes earlier for a bathroom break during one of the quick intermissions, but you weren’t sure how easily they’d make it back, everyone packed in tight, leaving barely any room for you to breathe. The men on stage interacted with the crowd for a bit, the long haired one—the lead, you could only assume. He was loud and overbearing, making a complete fool of himself—it was obnoxious, until his eyes landed on you, drawing you in.
What you had failed to realize is that the band indeed liked to bring people on stage, typically for a ridiculous serenade or a chance for someone to show off their musical skills, let out a wild guitar riff or an epic drum solo—unfortunately, you couldn’t handle either.
Your heart clenches in your chest at his subtle nod, grinning barely enough for his teeth to peek through—you shake your head slightly, a thousand eyes burning into the back of your head as the crowd starts to catch up, beginning to interrupt into a cheer of encouragement. He leans back, whispering something to his bandmates until they’re nodding in response, hopping off the stage and heading your way.
And if you weren’t panicking already, the sound of your heart pounding in your ears is enough to drive you mad. You weren’t a fan, didn’t know a single word, and would undoubtedly make a fool of yourself if you let them pull you up on stage, no matter how enticing their presence may be—there was no way you were letting that happen, not in front of thousands of people.
You’re pretty insistent rather, shaking your head the moment they approach you—and from an outsider's perspective you look insane, throwing away an opportunity of a lifetime for some people, all because of your own innate shyness.
“She said no, Eddie.” The younger guy with short cropped and dirty blonde hair shouts back at his bandmates.
Eddie. It’s less fitting than you expect, but you’re not really one to judge—he cocks his head slightly, squatting down on the stage as he waves you forward, fingers wiggling welcomingly.
And maybe if you weren’t surrounded by a crowd of people, you would’ve considered it. He can see the fear in your eyes, jumping down to approach you quickly.
“Are you sure?” He asks, leaning forward to speak into your ear, the roar of the crowd deafening. “Anyone else in here would kill for a chance like this.”
He’s not lying—women would throw themselves on stage and at him, men too, but he’s also constantly surprised by people everyday, though this is a complete first.
“Pick someone else, please.” You beg, eyes pleading, glaring at him simmeringly, “Not me.”
“Hey—what’s going on?” The chipper voice of your friend asks, tearing up behind you as they push through the crowd.
You’ve never been more thankful for the distraction, letting Eddie pluck your friend from the crowd and drag them on stage in your place, but not before whispering over to one of the men lined up by the stage—a couple of professional gentlemen lined up in suits.
He hesitates a step before he hops back on stage and within the distraction of the crowd as they were more entranced with what was happening on stage as your friend took a seat, Eddie tears back and leans toward you again, breath hot as he speaks against the side of your face, “I’ll get you and your friend backstage passes, so try not to run away after the show’s over?”
It felt like a fucking fever dream, wondering if this is normal behavior—which it’s so glaringly obvious that it isn’t, but you keep your naivety at the forefront, nodding quietly in response as his eyes lock on you to confirm, offering you a devious smile in return before he’s gone, back on stage and performing like it was second nature—because to Eddie, it was.
Tumblr media
“This is crazy—this is fucking insane—“
You yank gently at your friend, stalling their overactive movements, knowing they were about to jump out of their skin given the chance.
“Hey, cool—you two are our last ones.” Eddie’s voice echoes behind you, rounding the corner as he nods toward the open door nestled just behind him. “Come on.”
You were trying to seem interested, act like you genuinely wanted to be there—but you couldn’t fake it, taking in the large, unorganized dressing room sparingly, astounded by the idea that people paid real money for experiences like this.
Because while your friend is eating up, enjoying the droves of attention the other bandmates are showing them, you’re reserved, standing back behind as Eddie approaches at your side, unlit cigarettes tucked between his lips.
“You smoke?” He asks curiously, fiddling with his lighter in his hands.
“Yeah.” You answer slowly, offering him a skeptical look.
Eddie easily reaches for the case tucked in his back pocket, offering you a single cigarette. You can feel the tension as he flicks it toward you, wordlessly offering you the chance for a one on one, not that you have a shit. But, you were here—so why not?
“Sure.” You shrug dismissively, reaching for the cigarette as Eddie calls over his shoulder, motioning for you to follow him outside—but considering the dressing room reeked of the smell of weed and smoke already, you weren’t sure he went outside to smoke very often.
“We’ll be back, gonna have a quick smoke—“ He announces, speaking jokingly toward your friend, “I’m sure you’ve got a ton of burning questions.”
Eddie doesn’t light up until he’s outside, heavy metal door clanging shut behind him. He inhaled deeply, igniting the end of the cigarette before extending his arms forward, offering to light your own. You lean forward silently, eyes never leaving his as the flint sparks to life.
“Why are you here?” He asks curiously, shoving the light back into his pocket.
You look around dumbly, taking in the surroundings before looking pointedly at him, “You offered me a smoke, didn’t you?”
Eddie chuckles around the cigarette, pulling it from his lips with a loose grip, thumbs and forefinger gripping the base.
“I meant the show, sweetheart.” Eddie says, tone enticing.
The attraction you feel is…unnatural, bordering on the heels of taboo. He’s nearly twice your age, graying slightly in his beard, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away, slipping one hand under your shirt to rest against your hip as you leaned against the wall.
“My friend had an extra ticket,” You shrug, “and why would I deny a good time?”
“So, you enjoyed the show?” He asks teasingly, cigarette lingering near his lips as he smirks, full of smug attitude.
“What I could,” You admit, “I have no idea who you guys are.”
He snorts a laugh, simmering with a small amount of disbelief.
“Oh, is that hard to believe?” You retort, “God, you musicians are all the same.”
“Musicians? Do tell.” Eddie encourages, puffing a few times in quick succession. “I’d love your take.”
You flick the cigarette toward the ground, stubbing it out with your shoe. “Full of yourselves.” You tell him simply, “Like when I told you I didn’t want to come on stage—you looked offended.”
“Forgive me,” Eddie replies dramatically, “In the past fifteen years not one person has ever turned down that chance. I was a little surprised.”
“Why did you pick me?” You inquire, pressing for more information, catching the way his eyes wander. “Was I just the right amount of pretty for you?”
“Huh,” Eddie replies, “seems like someone else is a little full of themselves.”
You don’t reply, eyebrows raising in annoyance as you wait for his response.
“You looked lost, overwhelmed” Eddie admits, “I was just trying to give you a chance to escape the crowd.”
“By pulling me onstage in front of thousands of people?”
“Look, sweetheart—“
You shake your head insistently, rising to poke a finger into his chest, fingertip pressing against bare skin, flicking at his chain necklace, guitar pick slapping against his chest.
“I’m not your sweetheart—I’m not your groupie, either.” You tell him snippingly, “Do you really think I’m that clueless?”
Eddie gums softly, “And yet, you still followed me out here.”
You pull back slightly, pouting in subtle anger.
“That’s what I thought.” He replies playfully, “So, what’s your excuse?”
The silence is the only answer Eddie needs, knowing you're just as guilty for feeling it too—he extends his hand carefully, flicking the cigarette to a far off dark corner, hoping that you’ll accept his offer.
Whatever that offer may be.
The first touch is instant electricity and Eddie pulls you in with ease, sliding his open palm down your back, resting just above the curve of your ass, other hand releasing yours to squeeze at the side of your neck, pulling you tight against him. His eyes are dark and peering down at you, head slightly turned up as he speaks.
“You can still run away, if you want.” Eddie offers, “I won’t be offended—though I have to admit, you’re much too pretty for me to let go that easily.”
You shake your head silently, skipping the niceties and rubbing a firm hand over the front of his jeans, cock growing hard under your touch. “Should I?”
Eddie tilts his head slightly, confused.
“Run away?” You clarify.
“Remind me how much you know about me?” Eddie asks, knowing that his life wasn’t ever private anymore, not anyone.
He’s lived a majority of his adult life in the limelight and made every possible mistake along the way—it’s refreshing, looking into the innocent and untainted eyes of someone who knew nothing about him; good or bad.
“Not a thing.” You reaffirm, a sharp edged smile on your face as you lean further into him, pressing the line on your body against him.
“Perfect.” He breathes, before tipping your head back to capture your mouth, tongue tasting like whiskey and smoke, the faint mix of sweat and fancy cologne lingering in your senses as you open up to him, lips parting willingly.
He kisses sure of himself, hands never faltering or straying away, squeezing in the places that had you squealing softly into his mouth before eventually traveling to cover your ass fully, squeezing the flesh in his palms as you pull back, allowing him to chase your lips slightly before pulling away, voice low as you speak, “Can I suck your cock?” You ask sweetly and Eddie’s never been so genuinely taken back in his life.
He’s used to quick fucks and nothing else, getting what he could from these short encounters and never thinking twice.
“Fuck yeah,” Eddie replies with a chuckle of amusement, unfastening his pants as you sink to your knees, helping him with his belt, “—shit sweetheart, hold on—“
His quickly strips himself of his jacket, dropping into the floor wordlessly—you spread it out under your knees, knowing it won’t do much but you’re thankful for the gesture, showing it in the way you pull his jeans down his hips enough until you can get a hand around his cock, pumping it in long, slow strokes as it rose to full hardness.
“You know what you’re doing?” Eddie asks, thumb rubbing tenderly at the side of your chin, tilting your head up to look at him. You nod confidently, bottom lip pulled loosely between your teeth as he gently shoves your hand away, gripping himself firmly and lining the head of his cock at your lips, dragging your bottom lip with it as he waits, jaw tensed.
“Open for me, sweetheart.” He tells you kindly, the hand cupping your chin tipping your head up higher, your lips parting obediently until he can slip the tip past your lips, dragging the fleshy head over your tongue, allowing himself a few languid strokes until you’re hollowing your cheeks out, lips wrapping around him at the perfect pressure, swirling your tongue teasingly against the sensitive slit. “Can’t take too long—they’ll come looking,” Eddie speaks idly, mouth hung open slightly as he watches you take more of his cock, your hand coming up to gently swat his away, directing it toward your hair, allowing him to grip a fair portion as you forced yourself deeper, hand wrapping around what you couldn’t cover.
He’s more than you’ve ever taken otherwise, but not so overwhelming that you feel like you shouldn’t, that you can’t.
“I’ll be quick.” You say, breath ghosting over his shaft as your mouth travels down, paying the perfect amount of attention to his balls, rolling the tight sack over your tongue until he’s groaning loudly into the chill air, squeezing at the chunk of hair he had in his grip, “I swear.”
You tease him further, stroking at his shaft with his balls still heavy in your mouth, nose nudging at the properly kept curls settled at the base of his cock, moaning in a effort to pull another desperate noise from him—it works, Eddie grunting through his teeth as he pulls you away, urging you direct the attention toward his aching dick, your tongue peeking out to lick at the small bead of precum, eyes never leaving his face.
You really hadn’t expected to spend your night like this, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to pull away, struck by his intense and heavy gaze, staring down at you with an adoration you’d never felt, with anyone.
“God, those fucking lips,” He comments, thumb rubbing carefully around the edge, the stretch of his dick in your mouth was obscene, no doubt—he could barely keep it together, “where’d you learn to use your mouth like this?”
“Lots and lots of practice,” You tell him honestly, voice dripping with a tone of sweetness that doesn’t nearly make up for the depraved words that come out of your mouth. “—want you to fuck my face, Eddie.”
His eyebrows furrow in disbelief, barely visible under his long bangs, but you can see it—he nods slightly, pulling you back abruptly before repositioning himself, forcing his cock into your mouth slowly until it won’t budge, nudging the back of your throat, eyes watering at the soft intrusion. You nod slowly—it’s all Eddie needs before he’s pulling out again, thrusting back into your mouth harshly.
You moan around him, genuinely startled by his ease of flipping control, face tense and eyes squeezed shut as he fucks your face with fervor. He throws his head back lazily, groaning with every nudge at the back of your throat, gagging when he pulls you forward, holding you still, coming down your throat with no warning—not that you weren’t not expecting it, eyes watering from the intrusion as he pulls you back gently.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry—“ Eddie quickly apologizes, “I didn’t mean—“
You swallow the salty, heady cum that sat in your mouth, smiling at him devilishly; the grin enough to have him falling to his knees.
“Stop trying to be a gentleman, Eddie.” You laugh softly, rising from your spot on the ground and thrusting his leather jacket into his hands, watching as he haphazardly stuffed himself back into his pants, looking disheveled. You could only assume you looked the same. ”I know it’s just an act.”
“Oh, sweetheart—you don’t know a damn thing about me.” Eddie chides, reaching forward to flick a stray hair from your face. “Remember?”
Your snort softly in defiance, sizing him up briefly.
Eddie figured it’s a long shot, but he takes a leap.
“So, we’ve got a show here next week, too—“
“Mmm, no.” You quickly retort, shaking your head shyly.
“I can get you tickets, full VIP treatment.” Eddie confesses, shrugging the jacket back on his shoulders, “It’s a sold out show, you know?”
“And I’m not a groupie.” You reinforce, “Remember?”
You were only half serious—but you couldn’t justify showing up to another show, letting this become a thing. The thrill was exhilarating, knowing you could have something most people would die for, something you knew was far from appropriate.
Eddie laughs briefly, nodding in response. He steps forward unexpectedly, devouring you in a breathtaking kiss, all tongue and teeth, nothing like the softer kiss from earlier. He wants you to remember it.
“Well, if it’s fate,” Eddie says against your mouth, “I guess I’ll see you again.”
“I guess so.” You smile back, playfully biting at his lip before pulling away, heading inside before he can say another word.
And Eddie would try his damndest to make that happen, unbeknownst to you, not that you would’ve minded—Eddie enjoyed the chase.

Hate That I Loved You
Now complete on AO3!
Part 1 ↓ | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6
“That’s an awful idea” Gareth states from the other side of the room.
“It’s not as bad as the one he had for the Leave You music video,” Jeff adds helpfully.
“It’s one of our biggest hits,” Frank chimes in.
Eddie is just waiting for the band to reach the right conclusion. It’s such a bad idea that it actually makes it a genius one. Eddie knows it and he’s known it ever since he woke up in the middle of the night with it forming in his brain.
They need another hit. Eddie has just the song for that, called Hate That I Loved You, about all the times he failed at love. Which were… a good amount.
The song is good. Harsh, loud, heartbreaking. Eddie might’ve cried when he first played it acoustic on his guitar, all alone after getting dumped by his last boyfriend.
It’s about how he’s never good enough for anyone. It’s raw.
“Fine, let’s do it,” Gareth finally gives in and Eddie just smiles. His idea is as painful as the song. He’s going to call his exes and ask them to be in the music video. The song is not so much about them, it’s more about Eddie himself, but he likes the dramatic effect of having to face all his mistakes in one day as he sings his heart out.
He knows the tabloids will eat that shit up. He knows it’s the push the band needs to blow up and exactly the edgy, weird shit everyone expects from them He’s willing to take one for the team. He’s doing it
Pre production rolls around quickly, Chrissy is too damn good at her job, and soon it’s time for Eddie to do the hard part. He needs to call the exes and ask them.
He has six in total, he will be happy if he gets five to participate, but will settle for four. Knows two are harder.
David, Sean and Pedro are in from the start. It’s not surprising, really, they broke up in friendly terms, still talk sometimes, and are happy to indulge Eddie’s crazy ideas. Always had been.
His first no comes with Josh. He thought it was an easy yes but he was wrong.
Josh is happily married and not looking for any drama in his life and Eddie means drama. He can’t argue. Eddie winces as he remembers serenading Josh while high out of his mind, making noise under his dorm window like an idiot. Josh hangs up before Eddie can beg and that’s it.
That leaves him with 3 yes and 2 that he doesn’t know. Despite still being hurt by the break-up, Eddie calls Lou first. Lou is… Hard. His voice sends chills down Eddie’s spine and he almost chickens out. He’s the one that set Eddie off with this song, to begin with.
He’s the one that makes Eddie feels like he’s far from being enough. He’s the one who told Eddie he was selfish and unlovable and Eddie knows he still feels it as Lou flirts with him through the phone.
He’d never been good to Eddie but he was what Eddie thought he deserved it.
“Of course I’ll star in your video, babe,” Lou agrees easily and Eddie wishes he’d said no. Eddie thinks there’s still time for him to back down from the idea. Knows the guys would understand. Knows they all remember having to drag Eddie out of bed after a week of wallowing.
He stands his ground. Thinks this might be what he needs to get over Lou. To get him out of his system forever.
He also stands his ground because he knows the next number by heart. Had known it for the past 7 years and couldn’t really get rid of it.
His brain cling to Steve just like his heart had.
He feels dizzy as the line rings and feels like he’s going to faint as Steve’s voice comes through the speaker.
“Hello?”
“Steve, hey. It’s, um, it’s Eddie.”
The silence is so loud Eddie thinks he’s gone deaf.
“Eddie?”
“Munson. You know, from-”
“I know,” Steve’s voice gets so small Eddie wishes he had never called. “What…”
Whatever question he has dies on Steve’s throat and Eddie doesn’t blame him.
“Sorry to call like that. I, um, I need a favor?”
“…ok?”
Eddie explains it all. He talks about the band, the song, the video idea. He talks for almost ten minutes and he just keeps going because he can hear Steve’s breathing on the line.
“So, that’s it. You can say no, no hard feelings but I… would like if you said yes”
It feels like a low blow, but Steve says yes and Eddie pushes the guilt away from his brain. He’ll get to see Steve soon. Less than a week. He can’t help the butterflies blooming on his stomach.
He fucking missed Steve.

alright how about virgin! SAKUSA KIYOOMI who doesn't know how to hook up with anyone. Every single one of his friends lost their v-card and he feels a tad embarrassed that he still got his. After all, he's a busy college student that loathes crowds and is overly blunt to people.
He caves in one evening when he finds out his cousin Komori just got his first one night stand and is shamelessly bragging it to him. Sakusa was naturally competitive so he doesn't dare back down. He's convinced losing his virginity was simple. All he needs to find someone, fuck them, and never talk to them ever again. However, as he sets his plan to motion he finds out how fucking hard it was.
Sakusa was particularly picky. He needed someone who doesn't get offended with his blunt attitude, someone with experience, and doesn't mind not maintaining a connection. Weeks has passed and he was proven unsucessful, when Komori asks him about it, he quickly goes quiet. He's tired of watching porn and being sad while jacking himself off.
After one of his classes, Sakusa says fuck it and decided to pick a random person from his class. He happens to approach you. Sakusa thinks you will do, you're pretty, kind, and most importantly clean. He doesn't know jack shit about you but asks if you want to grab dinner with him.
Although skeptical at first, you couldn't deny the handsome and hot Sakusa Kiyoomi. Everything was smooth and innocent at first, Sakusa tries to initiate things by stepping out of his comfort zone and touching you. He was so shocked that everything was going so well all the way when he brought you back to his dorm room.
His roommate was out doing god knows what and he's making out with you. Sakusa was delighted that you're eager as you take his clothes off. What caught Sakusa off guard was how you easily dominated him, no matter how prepared he thought he was, he was not prepared to have the most dirtiest sex in his entire life.
When he lies naked and breathless with you under the sheets, he thinks that he doesn't regret losing his virginity to you. Now he's fully content and confident to tell the world he's not a loser anymore.
"Do you like cigarettes after sex?"
You ask as you look at him, naked under the blanket. Sakusa blinks, oh you're starting pillow talk with him.
"Not really, just heard a few of their songs"
Sakusa replies. You open your mouth and snorted before you burst out laughing. Sakusa raises a brow, confused by your reaction.
"No, I meant do you like smoking after sex?"
"Oh god, no"
Sakusa can feel the embarrassment creep into his cheeks. You smile at him and shake your head as you stand up from the bed and went to grab a pack of cigarettes from your bag while in the nude. You asked him if it was alright to smoke, he only nods.
The longer he gazed at you, the more he begins to feel enamored by you. When you finished smoking, he takes a deep breath and decides to destroy his plan.
"Do you want to have sex again tomorrow?"
He asks. You crawl under the sheets and stared at him, now with a devilish smile.
"Why not now?"
You said. And that's how Sakusa begins to regularly hook up with you only to develop feelings in the end.
Sorry the Sakusa thoughts got the best of me plus I wanted to write that stupid cigarettes after sex joke my friend told me bye
