This morning, I was scrolling through Tumblr's recommended tab and saw a lot of fanart/fan-comics shipping Jessie Teamrocket with some woman named Delia. Eventually, I pieced together that Delia is Ash's mom.
I haven't seen the Pokemon anime since I was a kid, so I have no idea whether Ash's mom got characterization and a dynamic with Jessie and a name when I wasn't looking or if this is just Shippers Being Shippers.
Either way, the idea of Ash's mom dating one of his archnemeses is pretty funny.

is it intentional that both tori and obito made the exact same yakitori joke? obito seems like the kinda guy to steal jokes and throw them in the same person's face just to annoy them. also, there are three satoshis now. there's cake satoshi from early plasticity, there's creepy satoshi, and now there's meter reader satoshi. why are there so many, is this perhaps a multiverse?/s love your fics btw <3
LMAO yes, him making the same joke is on purpose. but it's not a joke-stealing thing. it's an "unfortunately you are on the same wavelength" thing
the first two satoshi are not intentional. i do not even remember cake satoshi. usually when i have to pick a name for an unimportant OC, i just go on a list of japanese names and pick one that i've heard of real people having. so i guess i just like the name??
meter reader satoshi's name was picked by me messaging a friend a demanding a name

Hate that not in every iteration the turtles and Splinter have Japanese roots, instead randomly choosing to adapt Japanese customs, cause making them diverse is way more interesting than them just happening to randomly like ninjitsu for some reason

didn't want to put this rant in the tags of that last post but honestly i feel like a lot of people hate toshiro disproportionately compared to what he actually did in-story. and if we're being real it's most likely because of racism

Finally done! Tsuru as the Queen of Swords! Old people are so hard to draw, but I like how this turned out. I love Tsuru and I hope she will get more screentime in the anime, but my expectations are low since cool badass women get too little screentime in One Piece in general.
I chose Tsuru here because all of the Sword cards will be characters either affiliated with the navy or the World Government, and she fit the position. Also, I think independence and unbiased judgement fit her character. I tried drawing her with the sword pointing towards the sky, but that didn't work at all, so I had to restart the whole composition and settled for this design.

I kinda like but dislike that Rumiko and Sunrise (and fans) have never even mentioned that miko (priestesses) are virgins. And that their shinto ability to tend holy places comes from being unmarried virgins. In modern day I guess it is not really required but I kind of wish more people analyzed Kikyo, the dark priestess, Kaede and Kagome in that light.
Personally I think that due to the era Kagome would not be allowed to remain a miko after getting married and having a child. She would still be one of course due to her spiritual ability, but I think she would no longer be allowed to remain in that societal role.
Kagome is so spunky though that I see her rebelling against it. I think Kagome's strength in being outspoken is another great contrast between her and Kikyo. While Kikyo was confined by society and was only freed from expectation when she became an impure monster. Kagome was outspoken and loud to where she didn't have much of a societal role and yet remained 'spiritually pure.'
There is a huge theme of 'societal expectation' in Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kikyo that I think being a miko is a part of.
Personally I'm torn on Kagome loudly choosing to get married and have a child VS remaining a Miko and Kagome choosing to attempt to do both.
More thematic headcannons in the tag below..

Today I discovered that the name Obi means “heart” in the Nigerian Igbo language and I think that’s really beautiful when thinking about Obi-Wan, who has such a big heart and loves so deeply and selflessly.

Free Housamo Sources: Oni
This scholarly work on oni folklore throughout the centuries has realms of information, both on Oni Brethren characters in general and on specific, named individuals, including Shuten, Ibaraki, Red Oni, and even Motosumi (did you know that Motosumi, his twins, and his oni-friendly philosophy are from real legends? I didn't!). The author goes into various iterations and meanings of the oni throughout time, and we can see the disturbing real-life roots of game content like Toji's "Orphan Fangs" and Yoritomo's fictionalized/softened hatred of "oni."
It's a surprisingly easy read and includes some fun details along with the heavy stuff, like the author's exploration of the idea that all oni (not just Ibaraki) are genderqueer and the theory that Shuten may be Spanish.

Wait wait wait...
The most recent chapter was called the Two Blessings (or fortunes/lucks?) using the kanji for Fukuzawa and Fukuchi's names....
So we had Double Black. Does this mean Fukuzawa and Fukuchi's partnership is Double Luck? Double Blessing?
