Riddle is a little afraid of horror movies

His mother had never allowed him to watch anything over pg-13, so he’s really unaware of the wonders of horror media

You probably start him off with scarier kids movies, like Coraline

He’s really freaked out by the opening scene

If you get him into more objectively terrifying movies, like (one of my favs) Texas Chainsaw Massacre, he’ll try to distract himself by holding on to you, and talking about the camerawork, the artistic value and all that

He will sit with you on the couch, hands covering his eyes, peeking out slightly

Doesn’t love overt guts and all that, but probably enjoys the more subtle, unnerving horror, that’s what really freaks him out

Considers you to be extremely brave, probably brags to the other dorm leaders about you

He also probably enjoys horror movies, but when he watches them with you, he feels the need to prove himself a little

Loves cheesy slasher flicks, especially if you both sit there and make fun of them together

Hates the tropes involving women in those types of films, thinks its super disrespectful to assume girls are stupid enough to just open the door for the killer

People tend to characterize him as a lazy brute, but he’s also a royal, so he probably grew up appreciating some art and vintage media, so I think he’d appreciate black and white movies

(he’d rather die than admit it, but he definitely feels all mushy inside watching the Addams Family)

He also probably gets mildly disturbed during build up scenes, jumpscares and all that, but it’s usually just because of his heightened beastman senses

Hes terrified, I’ll just leave that there

Jkjk I could never leave out my favorite fishman

He’s horrified during practically any part of the movie, but especially during the big finale scene (think Scream) 

However big is fear is, his need to prove himself as a big strong manly man is even bigger, so he’ll act like he’s not scared at all

He;s really bad at it tho, so expect to literally have him on your lap by the credits

He definitely sticks to the less scary movies, like The Boy which just sort of unnerved him more than anything

If you’re like, a super horror buff, he’ll stick around as best as he can

He wants to encourage your interests!

Pro tip: invite the twins to come around for a big movie night, they’ll be cracking jokes throughout while Azul looks like he’s about to combust

i will say though that when i think of crossovers i do tend to prefer fandom fusions :o i like the idea of blending in the media im crossing over :o !! if youre interested in that sort of thing also, i made an umbrella academy-rezero fusion au fic with turacoverdin and ive made like T^T either shitposty or serious writing or art for several other fusion aus for the past two years… just bc i like the idea of placing rezero characters in like. different scenarios and studying them like bugs under a microscope HAH some other fusions ive done / daydreamed about include madoka magica, attack on titan, persona 5, also did some chainsaw man au doodles (unlike most people when they do chainsaw man aus i put emilia as denji and subaru as asa wodnsjs HEAR ME OUT OK—)… etc etc i suppose… also that one time i drew rezero characters as mario characters and tried way too hard on it—

anyway. as for what characters will get along with subaru—honestly i havent thought about it much so uhhh perhaps i will try right now!! :O i feel like characters like homura from madoka magica could be interesting… bc i feel like for him itd be like acquiring a new little sister bc she has her whole (apologies for madoka magica spoilers? Currently working on: I have several writing projects that are neat but are not getting finished, but primarily three things: 1) scifi project ive been working on since i was 15. I think ive managed to stay true to the original vision (star wars ripoff) while also making it somewhat good. 2) Newish high fantasy project born out of worldbuilding a four-gender system. I like how the magic system intertwines with gender i like the theme of cycles and how to break them, but ive still got a long way to go. 3) Long scifi short story about a clash of oppressive societies via toxic yuri. almost done!

Writing: I'm assuming this means completed. Several small things i don't care too much about, and one pretty good short story about a spaceship AI having a Transgender Moment (1 dead many injured)

I like hcing Q!Bad as a demon slayer type demon. Cause 1. I'm a loser who really likes demon slayer 2. Do you know how much more fun that is?

I already had an idea for what kinda blood art he'd have. He can crystalize blood, Kinda like power from chainsaw man, But he can also crystalize others blood. He learned this after semi crystalizing skeppy (hence skeppys diamond like protrusions). He doesn't tend to mess with others blood unless it's spilled because of that one incident.

But I'm also thinkin abt the eating part. I think, if bad were a demon slayer type demon, he would at the very least threaten to eat people. He absolutely eats animals tho. Like can you imagine the horror on peoples faces when they hear a tale of Bad biting into a rabbit while its still twitching? Imagining its Forever or one of the french finding Bad, crouched with blood pooling around him, and thinking hes in danger, only for bad to turn around and be like "sorry! was just getting a snack (⁠✿⁠^⁠‿⁠^⁠)" is a lil funny

Foolish and Quackity are the only ones who already knew abt Bads eating habits. Foolish has likely seen Bad actually eat a human given how long they've known each other.

Hal- Rocky Horror Picture Show (he has a Dr Frank-N-Furter costume somewhere in his closet that he plans to wear for some League Halloween party)(specs and i are hardcore projecting genderfluid Hal hcs onto this)(he also knows how to dance the Time Warp)

Guy- Halloween (he is mad about the reboot and how the lighting has made the movie kinda worse. like he has no problem with the fact that they're making the new movie, and he isn't into how movies are really directed in any way, but even he is mad about the lighting)

John- Beetlejuice (it's a classic and Michael Keaton and the rest of the all-star cast do so well in it. he is also a fan of the musical)

Kyle- Coraline (the art style is so good and he definitely was terrified of it until he watched it and then he was fine with it. he definitely uses it to scare the senior lanterns tho)(dude it fucked me up. he'd be all over that -ketchup)

Kilowog- Little Shop of Horrors (he would get a kick out of the giant man-eating plant and the protagonist just being a little guy(tm))(plus the songs are really catchy and when Hal and Guy showed it to him, both of them were singing and quoting along, so its a movie that holds a special place in his heart)

Razer- Addams Family Values (he appreciates Wednesday's homicidal tendencies a lot. also his family is a little kooky, and the Addams family is a little kooky and crazy and he likes it)("...so basically, what i’m saying, is that Razer is a Wednesday Addams kinnie" -specs)

Thaal- The Blair Witch Project (he fell victim to its trappings and he thinks that it's real. he keeps trying to convince Hal to go ghost hunting with him. Hal keeps refusing and telling him that ghosts probably don't exist but Thaal refuses to listen.)

What do tou think about the big 3? Do you think there are new shonen lately that can compete?

Hey, thank you for the question! I can't remember if I was asked about the Big 3 before, so here we go. Please remember this is solely my opinion, everyone should be free to enjoy what they prefer.

They all started pretty close to each other, One Piece in 1997, Naruto in 1999, Bleach in 2001. Despite being bonded to the classic shonen traits, they all have different narrative dynamics.

Obviously I think One Piece is the unmatched best (and also the only one still ongoing). I always talk about it, so I'm not gonna spend too many words on it here, but basically I think it's strengths compared to the others lie in the world building, memorable scenes, and ideals.

It's no secret what I think about Naruto, I was asked before. I believe Naruto part 1 is AMAZING. Compared to the other two, Kishimoto had a head start. Buuuuut then, for me, Shippuden was a complete let-down. The crafting of shinobi battles introduced before, where each player had a (more or less) precise set of skills and had to find a way to make it work against the enemy, was discarded in favor of divine powers, together with many characters introduced in part one. Plus I found the plot boring, and the final part a total mess. It had its moment, don't get me wrong, but not enough to keep me entretained.

So Bleach. I have to confess that I haven't finished Bleach yet, so maybe I shouldn't even talk about it, but there's a reason I got stuck. Even though Kubo wrote what I think is one of the best shonen arcs ever written (the Soul Society arc), then he... kept going back to the same plot. That's why I stopped reading at the Espada arc, I felt like we were doing the exact same thing, just swapping Rukia with Orihime. From there I felt it got really messy, with forgotten characters, storylines, and repetitive cliches.

I hope I won't upset anyone with this, as I said before it's just my opinion, and all three manga must possess great qualities to even be defined "Big 3".

Now, about the new generation. Shonen are slowly evolving as well, so it's hard to compare the new ones - and I haven't read many, I have to admit. My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan (is it even a shonen?), Beastars, One Punch Man (dropped tho), and Chainsaw Man. I've watched the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen and I tried Dr. Stone, but I dropped it soon because I found it boring, despite the great art. Most of these suffered (or are suffering...) of a bad/rushed finale, which is a common issue for this type of manga.

In short, no, I don't think any of the new gen's peaks matched the Big 3's peaks. MHA had a shot for a moment, but then declined. (and Chainsaw Man is too particular and plays in its own league). Maybe the heirs are among the ones I haven't read (yet), like Black Clover, Mashle, or JJK.

But the only one that truly had a shot, in my opinion, is not a new gen. It's Hunter x Hunter. If it weren't for its serialization problems, it'd probably be one of the Big 3 (knocking out Bleach I guess?).

BTW I did thoroughly enjoy Demon Slayer and Beastars, and I'm currently enjoying CSM.

Ever since break started I’ve been in a kind of limbo. It feels so surreal not having any work to do. I mean I do have basic chores to do today like the laundry and vacuuming and stuff but besides that it’s a free day. I am. Very very very. Temped to start reading the blue lock manga. I know I said I’d wait for the anime to finish but like I need something to do 😭😭. I was starting my first TR reread since the last chapter but I only got in 3 chapters before I started sobbing and I haven’t even gotten to Akkuns first death or met Mikey and Draken for the first time again yet. I’m gonna have to chunk my way through it while sobbing and taking so many breaks because I will seriously never recover from this manga. OH AND I LOVE CHIFUYUS BIRTHDAY ART. Wakui continuing to attest that yes takefuyu are still canon in the reset timeline. It’s such a relief for me because those two are my comfort duo 😭😭😭. I also want to finish Chainsaw Man soon. I stopped at around volume 9 because I’m broke and was reading it at the bookstore and all I can say is that this series is definitely getting a reread cause I love analyzing strange works and concepts. THE MAITAKE COVER ASJKGFJKHFFGGG. The way I screeched when I first saw it like. I love how you worded it, they literally look like royalty together UGH. Suffice to say that yes maitake fans has a field day with the cover of volume 31 😌😌. I cant wait for the inside cover to be revealed. My prediction/demand is that it’s gonna be then as children childhood-friends-to-lovers. But I guess we’ll see.

I revisited my childhood with watching DBZ... (i knew i said i would start one piece but the gym bro-ness got the better of me and i started watching it) someone please explain why does Goku's voice sound... i don't know how to describe it. i was so shocked about his voice, i was planning on watching the dub instead cause of it *crying* Honestly, Wakui did a really good job with the cover. Even when I was reading mangas online - I was so awed by the covers of the manga and when TR was on its peak here, i saw a lot of spoilers for bonten mikey. I never liked mikey... but this made me change my mind. And they (like every cover character i saw up until the Brahman arc looked like royalty. Even hanma-) I'm doing well! Contemplating to change the blog theme for some reason. It's not gonna be aiku ofc- he gets 0 screen time cause he hasn't come back from italy and i am mad at him with part 1 to ocean hues I'm on my winter break actually and omw back home. Fifa knocked the wind out of me. I feel sad cause Mbappé played really well (and he was sad too when they lost), i literally went to go keep my plate and he scored in 97 seconds of the first goal T.T . But i'm also really happy for Argentina cause its the first time in 36 years since Maradona that they have won the Wc and i cried cause they were crying on the field not to mention the fact that Messi played in their team as well - so it was bittersweet ending but also very well deserved! hazbin: right now im most proud of my most recent brokerdoll art and my uuuuuh the one i posted with val blowing smoke into vox's vents . the brokerdoll one just looks so goddamn good with the poses and shit and the staticmoth one i just am absolutely obsessed with how i did the effects (vox's screen glowing, the smoke, the electricity) it just looks really nice to me and ive never been able to do that before

bsd: for bsd i think the thing im most proud of rn is probably the fic i wrote where fyodor lives?? i posted it on ao3 and it was just one of my like top things i wrote because i looked up so much garbage for it, i spent so much time editing it and revising it to try to make it as good as i could and i love how it turned out so so much. float through the dim without the strength to move my favorite fic ive EVER wrote ever

hazbin: THE FUCKING SFX. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!! LIKE !!!!! i love when their voices do The Thing and get demonic because they get angry or go demon form or whatever, i love that val squeaks when he's angry because moths do that, i love that vox sounds like he's blowing out his speakers when he yells because hes yelling loud, i love all the times they chose that al does NOT have his voice effect, I JUST LOVE THE SOUND DESIGN IN THIS GODDAMN SHOW. it just adds so much and its so bfbdhfbhbhf /pos

bsd: bsd as a whole should be appreciated tbh JAHHAFBGHAF but honestly i'd have to say like ... just the little background faces? the ones in the manga are cute but the ones that are in the anime are just fucking hilarious to me . dazai looks like a cat in half of them . they make every character look like a different genre of Cat with the background faces and i fucking love that so much because its just so adorable and i love when fiction does stuff like make silly scenes with a different art style than the normal one because it just keeps my attention There!!
