Smash: Katherine McPhee playing Broadway performer Karen Cartwright in the fake musical about Marilyn Monroe “Bombshell,” which now has a real cast album.

Watch the streaming of the 2015 concert of “Bombshell,” the fictional  musical about Marilyn Monroe that the characters were putting together in the first season of the TV series “Smash” plus a Zoom revival of the cast.

For the two seasons that it lasted, from February 2012 – May 2013, “Smash” was theater lovers’ most talked-about TV series (Ok, maybe just for the first season.) This is not to say it was universally beloved; some ridiculed it. But just recall: Leslie Odom Jr was in the cast of Smash, before he was in Hamilton. Christian Borle, Jeremy Jordan, Krysta Rodriguez, Megan Hilty all became familiar names.

But, admit it, it’s comforting to see the cast back again. Below the video, a timeline of links about the series.

Jaime Cepero: You’ll have to stay tuned…. 😉 Jonathan Mandell: Ok, different question: Smash doesn’t even begin until Monday.Has your life changed since you were cast in it? If so, how so? Jaime Cepero: Hmm… From waiting tables to playing patty cake with Anjelica Houston? I think that about sums it up! Will Smash change New York theater the way it’s already changed Jaime Cepero’s life? Well, no. But it will be interesting to see if it becomes popular, and, maybe, down the road, creates some new theatergoers. “It used to be ‘theater’ was a dirty word on TV. It’s like you couldn’t do politics on TV until ‘West Wing,” said Neil Meron, one of Smash’s producers. On the other hand: “It was very important to us that half of the piece was authentic to American musical theater, and that the rest be truly universal for an audience…We want an audience that says ‘I’m not really interested in Broadway.” (February 1, 2012)

Smash, the new NBC TV series about the making of a Broadway musical, is well-timed for theater people, both because it’s on Mondays (their standard day off), and because it starts in February, a supposedly fallow period for Broadway (February 5, 2012)

VILLA CLARA, Cuba. – En la tarde noche de este sábado 11, en cita de auténtica rebelión contra lo establecido, de unos trescientos cubanos diferentes y enojados, cuando la Marcha por los Derechos LGBTI+ convocada indistintamente por miembros activos de esa comunidad llegaba al final del Paseo del Prado e intentaba alcanzar los muros del Malecón en la intersección de la calle San Lázaro, justo frente al nuevo Hotel que construye el emporio militar del turismo con la corporación Gaviota S.A. a la entrada de la bahía, un grupo de genízaros entrenados y travestidos de civiles amparados por la PNR, impidieron el paso de los manifestantes y comenzaron a arrestar y dar golpes a transgresores de la obediencia civil a troche y moche.

Según cuenta en su página de Facebook el propio Oscar Casanella, inmunólogo que se presentó al lugar con su esposa e hija para prestar apoyo moral a los del gremio vistiendo un pulóver negro en el que rezaban las palabras en blanco “Falta Poco”, terminó con la cabeza rota de un tubazo propinado por sus captores cuando fue inmovilizado y trasladado a un edifico cercano.

Ariel Ruiz Urquiola, biólogo víctima de un amañado proceso judicial que indignó al mundo entero recientemente cuando por poco se muere consecuencia de una huelga de hambre y sed tras su injusto encarcelamiento, fue arrastrado y cargado literalmente por turbas filo castristas y pronazis, como se aprecia en las fotos divulgadas inmediatamente por las agencias de prensa extranjeras allí presentes.

Horas antes Ariel conversó tranquilamente en el lugar de los hechos con una hija de Pablo Milanés, quien vino a ofrecer solidaridades para con todos los distintos en el nombre de su familia.

El MININT habrían amenazado a algunos activistas destacados como Jancel Moreno, personándose en su casa de Alamar e intimidando a la madre y hermana de 8 años que presenció la visita, y abducido misteriosamente a Yadiel Cepero, regente de la página “Construyendo una Agenda por La Diversidad en Cuba” que convocó profusamente el evento, quienes manifestaron con antelación sus deseos personales de sumar a cubanos conscientes y sensibilizados (como Oscar Casanella) a esta Marcha paralela a la fiesta de última hora organizada por un desesperado/neurótico CENESEX, mientras las tropas de choque volatizaban por el camino a “cabecillas enemigos”, como el también biólogo y poeta; Isbel Díaz Torres, junto a su novio Jaime Martínez, cuando ambos intentaban llegar al lugar este mediodía y a pesar de estar inmersos en medio de la 4ta Jornada Libertaria Primavera de La Habana, coauspiciada por el Taller Anarquista Alfredo López que se realiza anualmente en su casa conocida dentro y fuera de Cuba como el ABRA en Lawton.

Troles y oficialistas en las redes han intentado justificar el suceso represivo a la súbita aparición en el lugar “de 4 gatos contrarrevolucionarios pagados por el imperio yanqui”, pues con anterioridad ellos mismos se habrían acreditado en las redes ser parte del pírrico éxito conseguido hasta ese momento, empleando un inusitado desafío verbal, cuestionando a ausentes “por su falta de valor” y sabiendo que los medios nacionales nada informarían de lo que allí ocurriese.

Entre otros arrestados además que no pudieron llegar nunca al lugar se encuentra el artista de la plástica Roberto Ramos Mori, dueño del local conocido como Galería-Taller “La Marca”, quien junto a Isbel y Jaime tampoco daba señales de vida hasta esta medianoche.

También incomunicados se encontraban los periodistas independientes Boris González Arena de Diario de Cuba e Iliana Hernández, reportera de CiberCuba Noticias. Además, Yosmany Sánchez y Yennia del Risco fueron cargados en la recogida, según publicó en su perfil de Facebook la periodista Mónica Baró Sánchez, quién adjuntó un video del arresto de Oscar.

La supresión de la Conga se ha extendido oficialmente a sitios puntales de la diversidad como El Mejunje de Ramón Silverio en Santa Clara, donde esta madrugada presentaba un espectáculo de transformistas enajenados por la música, ajenos por completo a las revueltas habaneras.
