“Now, what are you doing?” Jaime asked slightly amused at how he made the princess jump. He didn't mean to startle her, but he was curious when he saw her sneak off. So he followed his so called niece, to see what she was up to.
“Praciting.” Y/n answered her uncle not looking him in the eyes. She was ashamed, she knew she had no reason to be. But she wasn’t supposed to even be touching weapons. Her mothers orders. Y/n didn’t want to see the look of disappointment or appallment on his face that was on her mothers when she found out. “I’ll be going.”
“I didn’t say you had to leave.” Jaime spoke up confused on her actions, ready to flee as fast as possible.
Y/n turned around to face him, with a furrowed brow she asked. “Isn’t that why you followed me here?”
“No.” Jaime shook his head walking closer to her. “I just wanted to see what you were up to. I’m not telling you to stop, you were doing quite good with that sword.”
He couldn’t help but be proud of what he saw. She had no one to help or train her but she was good. He was definitely taking credit for it in his head. It’s in her blood.
“I’ve been told that if anyone found me here doing this again that I’d be punished.” Y/n grimaced remembering her mother’s exact words.
Jaime lifted her chin with his hand, making her look him in the eyes. He smiled hoping he could encourage her. “I won’t tell. Promise.”
With that Jaime decided that he was gonna help Y/n. He was going to be her teacher, he’d rather she know how to defend herself than not. It’s also an excuse for him to get to spend more time with y/n.
So from then on Jaime and Y/n would meet in the hidden quiet location they had found, and Jaime taught her how to use all kinds of weapons. Plus some hand to hand.
And it was all going well till a certain someone’s little birdies decided to tell the Queen. (Pyter Belish)
^     ^     ^
It was a cool day in KingsLanding, perfect for teaching Y/n some archery Jaime thought. He was on his way to her room to walk with her.
“So I was thinking today we could work on-” He stopped speaking as he shut the bedroom door behind him and didn’t see Y/n anywhere. “Y/n?”
“I don’t think it’s good for us to be doing this anymore uncle.” Y/n’s voice came out soft and Jaime swears he could hear it wobble as she spoke.
“But you love-” Jaime stopped in his tracks when he walked over to see her standing on the balcony. As she turned to look at him Jaime was floored. Looking at her face, seeing her split lip and bruised cheek, he was raging on the inside but he didn’t want to scare her so he approached her slowly. “What happened?”
Y/n could feel tears welling up in her eyes. She didn’t want her uncle to see her like this, that’s why she was hiding in her room. “I was spotted training the other day. . . Mother was not happy.”
Jaime cupped one side of her face gently. “Your mother did this to you?”
Y/n gave a stiff nod, biting her lip. “I do not want you to incur any punishment like I have or worse uncle Jaime. I think it best to not do the lessons anymore.”
Jaime pulled her into him, wrapping her up into a tight hug. Trying to comfort her, and make her feel protected. “No, no you love learning how to use a sword, throw knives, hand to hand combat, and I will not let you be defenseless or have something you love taken away from you.”
Y/n pulled back to look into Jaimes eyes worried for him. “What are you gonna do?”
Jaime smiled at her concern for him, brushing one hand through her hair. “Don’t worry about that, just let me take care of it. You just focus on what you wanna learn next.”
Y/n nodded resting her head against his chest. All the while Jaime was thinking about all the things he was gonna say, ripping into his sister. How dare she touch y/n like that. Jaime was not gonna let that slide.

Imagine Jocelyn as Cersei's niece and Tywin's granddaughter. She was raised by both and is a Lannister through and through. Tywin lets her accompany him to meetings to learn as much as she can because he believes she is the future of house Lannister. Cersei extremely protective of her, both manipulating people to do their bidding. Jocelyn definitely knows about Cersei and Jaime and sees nothing wrong with it. Ser Gregor loyal to her and always ready to kill for her.
Imagine it was Jocelyn who came up with the cunning idea to turn the Boltons against the Stark. Tywin sending Jocelyn to make the deal with the Boltons because he believes in her. Obviously she did a lot more with the Boltons.
Imagine Jocelyn entering the red wedding once the Rains of Castamere starts playing. She watched the destruction of the house stark with a satisfied smirk on her face. Tywin and Cersei were so proud of her when she gave them the good news herself.
Jocelyn blaming herself for not being in King's Landing when Cersei was forced to do the walk of shame. Jocelyn vowing to take revenge for her aunt. It was Jocelyn's idea to blow up the sept and everyone inside there
Jocelyn crowning Cersei as queen and Cersei naming her as her heir.
Imagine Jocelyn is the one who wins the game of thrones and becomes the queen. Imagine Tywin still alive and is her advisor. House Lannister is unstoppable

Mad King Aerys 2 around Rhaegar and Elia Martell and their children be like 😒😒🥱👿
Aerys 2 around Targaryen Reader (Prince), his wife Cersei and their daughter Joanna be like 🤗🥰🥰
I can’t help but imagine that Aerys 2 would be a loving and caring grandfather to Princess Joanna, the same goes for Rhaella who also adores her granddaughter.
When Prince and Cersei with Joanna visit Kings Landing, everyone become happy. Aerys becomes a loving grandfather and doesn’t act like shit. Rhaella gets happy and smiles a lot to see her beloved son and his wife and her granddaughter. Viserys 3 gets excited to see his baby niece, the same goes for Rhaegar and Elia. Tywin, who’s known to never smile, smiles when he’s holding Joanna in his arms and to see Cersei and son-in-law. Jaime and Tyrion can’t help but smile and adore their baby niece. Jaime swears to protect Princess Joanna from any danger, the same goes for everyone. And Tyrion is happy to know that not only Jaime and Prince genuinely care about him, but also having a niece who gives him toothless smile just warms his heart and he is about to shed tears of joy. Tywin wanted his daughter to become a Queen, but he never thought that he made a great decision, because not only House Lannister is married to the crown, but also they have great weapons- big fire-breathing dragons and they have a beautiful Princess that binds two powerful Houses.
Then everyone gets to family dinner, yes all of them. The family dinner has two good news. First good news is that Rhaella is pregnant (Daenerys) and second good news is that Yandere Cersei is also pregnant. Tyrion makes a toast “For a new members of our family” and Prince agrees with that toast 🥂 and everyone else.
My goodness, this is so sweet and so good. I can feel the warm of this scenario. I feel like someone would say that the marriage between Targaryen Prince and Yandere Cersei Lannister remind of love between King Jahaerys 1 Targaryen and Queen Alysanne. Although many folks and lords hope that the children of Prince and Cersei won’t have tragically die.
Poor Elia and her kids.🥺
It's so cute.😍🥰Great. I think you are right. The marriage of Prince and Cersei has been compared to the marriage of Jaehaerys 1 and Alysanne. I hope they don't go through the same pain. The Lannisters and Targaryens pamper Princess Joanna. I think the Princess has two names. "Joanna Naerys" Targaryen.

I just saw someone say they find the tiff over Lyanna between Arya and Sansa girlies hilarious because to them the most obvious candidate who almost becomes the representation of an altar, after Lyanna is Robb. Which to be true is fair in so much as that Robb becomes almost this mythic figure: the brother king, who is strong enough to present Joffrey's head on a plate, whose campaigns are a source of pride. He becomes a beautiful memory of a boy with snow melting in his hair. He becomes to his men the hero straight from the ages of Kings of Winter, fighting with a direwolf by his side, defeating Jaime Lannister, and being honourable to young maidens. All of this is well and true with how Lyanna is presented in the patriachal notion as THE beauty, as the maiden of dreams for some and source of woe for others. Gone but ever present. So I agree in part but I think OP in trying to be clever missed the point that there is one very prominent figure in this story through whom we can go beyond the myth of Lyanna and to the real person. Robb, the hero was never so mighty. He was a boy who once while talking to Bran almost sounded like he wished that he had more time left to his boyhood. He wasn't the beast(TM), he was in fact weary of the crown and couldn't fathom why anyone would want to be a king.
Similarly Lyanna wasn't ever going to be the ideal wife who could somehow magically inspire in Robert such marital happiness that he would have never strayed to another bed. She would have never been the obedient wife from Robert's daydreams. And we know this not only because of Ned's reminiscence of Lyanna's very practical observations, not only because of the quote " you saw her beauty, but not the iron underneath", but also because we have someone in this current storyline who is almost as practical in certain aspects of life as Lyanna had been in other.
When Jon continues to think of his mother, imagining her as a highborn lady with a pretty face, we are to have the wonderful thought that Jon would eventually know that he had been looking into the face which is so similar to that of his mother's for a long time. And there would be the bonus of this other person loving him so so so much.
Lyanna is a past. A past that looms over many and yet she is humanized when we see someone's angry tears over a dead butcher's boy. When this person is called as wilful and wolf blooded as her aunt. When Ned who himself is lost in one particular moment of haunting can look at a little girl and say she reminds him of his own long dead sister. I think either OP wasn't there when this person was completely dismissed in favour of the conventionally beautiful sister- the reason being only that conventionally beautiful women are worth fighting over ( the war being reduced to this) or they have deliberately forgotten it. Even if we are to be skin deep- then even so we must say that Bran's vision almost stupefied him because for a moment he mistook a child!Lyanna to be a particular sister of his. I know in recent times there's an accusation that we plunder Lyanna's story to give its unique elements to our fave ( and maybe we are guilty of that in some respects), but it is honestly laughable if someone's conviction of getting her brother's men out of Harrenhal doesn't add a richness to her aunt's "That is my father's men you are kicking." Lyanna is long gone. The story we have now is not the one of her generation. It's of those who came after her. But even so these little instances we get to sketch out her character is in fact enriched by her niece. The niece who in text is said to be the most like her. To then dismiss the niece again, albeit in a different way is just adding another layer to the circular pattern of the so called "tiff". But I guess the character dismissed is so insignificant to the fandom in the grand scheme of things that it would sooner brand her in the very unoriginal category of "murder baby" and be done with her by relegating to her a martial role, than examine the finer detailing of her storyline. Even those so called sympathizers can only stomach her to a particular extent. Beyond that any vivacious discussion related to her/ her relationships with other faves are termed as an exercise in stealing from these other characters and giving them to her; ironically the thing we are accused of is the very thing that we, Arya girlies, had been legitimately fighting against throughout the years.

Is it possible that Daemon’s looks at Rhaenyra have never been sexual but a proud uncle? I mean, a lot of ppl assume there’s heat because of the book. The book which is a series of anecdotes from supposed first hand witnesses. A history book filled with agenda.
Daemon has just been reminding me of Jaime Lannister as I watch Matt Damon. Nickolaj convinced me there was more to Jaime before I ever read the books and found out his truth of the events, because good actors know how to do that. Every time Daemon doesn’t deny something it feels like it’s because “why bother?” everyone will think he did it anyways.
The preview for the new episode shows how it’s Otto delivering the news about Rhaenyra and Daemon. That immediately makes me suspicious of it - but it shouldn’t, I mean the book confirms it. Viserys is well within his rights to be concerned and disgusted, but for some reason that scene looks like Viserys is failing to see Daemon properly.
Daemon is Rhaenyra’s strongest ally. Otto knows that. What better way to separate them than to convince Viserys his brother is a predator? Maybe he doesn’t actually like Rhaenyra that way, but he’s always wanted the throne right? I mean it simply follows everything he’s already convinced him about.
People think it’s Matt Smith’s hand on Rhaenyra’s - but the gross thing about it all is it’s because they ship them. They want it to be Matt Smith because they’ve self-inserted over Rhaenyra and want to imagine them fucking. But from a story perspective we’ve only seen one explicitly heated gaze and it’s from the one man everyone theorises is the father of all her children.
I’m just spit balling, but it’s been upsetting me a little that the show has shown Otto is abusing Alicent but doesn’t commit to making Daemon look undeniably creepy each time he’s intensely looking at Rhaenyra. I’m hoping beyond hope it’s because he’s PROUD. His niece is a QUEEN. A strong one, a true one. One that isn’t afraid to challenge people and also knows enough about him as a person to not truly fear for her life. Knows the egg stealing was drama and not fearmongering. They’re each other’s only defenders.

@dcviline asked: ❛ you’re going to leave a mark - ❜ (liandra)
He   only   remains   in   Dorne   for   his   niece.   But   he   finds   his   own   pleasures.   Liandra   is   quite   a   woman,   not   easily   ignored   when   she   walks   into   a   room   and   it   had   been   a   while   he   had   no   woman.   A   woman   who   was   not   his   sister.   She   had   betrayed   him   more   than   once,   so   why   should   he   restrain   himself.   Her   neck   is   beautiful   and   the   former   kingsguard   entertain   his   mouth   there,   leaving   a   trail   of   kisses   as   he   squeezes   her   breast   through   the   fabric   of   her   dress.   Dorne   is   not   that   bad   when   the   night   falls,   she   had   guided   him   there,   to   a   room,   all   for   themselves.   She   tastes   sweet,   of   the   water   gardens,   lemons   and   mystery.   And   he   wants   it   all.   "Aye,   my   lady.   I   will   leave   plenty.   Many   would   consider   it   an   honor."   That   Jaime   Lannister   leaves   a   mark   on   their   frame.   An   honor   indeed.
His   good   hand   moves   to   the   laces   of   the   dress   and   removes   them,   without   his   two   hands   is   more   difficult   but   he   can   handle   it   well   enough.   "Your   dress   leaves   little   to   the   imagination,   my   lady.   And   I   was   a   kingsguard   for   far   too   long."   He   desires   her,   her   dress   hangs   on   her   sides,   blessed   the   Gods   be,   the   peak   of   breasts   as   the   dress   falls   by   the   middle,   his   view   is   caught   by   the   sight   of   no   clothes   covering   her   down   her   waist.
"Let   me   taste   you   once."   And   his   hand   moves   to   between   her   legs,   it's   quick   but   he   presses   on,   teasing   her   entrance,   taking   in   the   wetness   before   bringing   the   fingers   to   his   tongue,   and   tasting   it,   mouth   feeling   her.   Sweet   woman   nectar,   how   he   missed   that.   "Drop   your   robe,   my   lady.   If   you   still   want   my   mouth   in   your   cunt,   then   do   as   I   say."

So, i got a few mods to work with baldur's gate III and i wanted to mess around with the CC. None of these characters are saved. I just have fun with mods to test a few things. I tried to recreate some of my ocs from different fandoms. Most of them are from Game of Thrones. I didn't read the books, i've watched the shows. I just let my imagination rage on.
Here's the first one : Fiyonna Stark, the oldest sister of Ned Stark. Giant lady but not as tall as Brienne. Considers her nephews and nieces like her own children and will try anything to protect them. Was in love with Roberts during their yongers years as they often fought together. She often thinks she'll never make it to the next winter because of all the wounds and scars she has. She doesn't know if she'll stay besides Bran when he becomes king or if she'll return to Winterfell to support and help Sansa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's Jeyne Lannister ; The middle child. Younger sis of Cersei and Jaime, older sis of Tyrion. She's as good and gentle as Myrcella. Doesn't like Joffrey much. Was hoping for Tommen to survive longer. Cersei was an example and almost a mother figure to her, at a certain point. Jaime was an overprotective brother with her. Even when she was promise to Robb, he would rarely leave her alone with boys. Her relationship with her father is complicated… She never treated Tyrion like a monster. She doesn't want her family to die but can't support the peculiar tendencies of her sister when she was queen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's Rachel Tyrell, sister of Margeary and Loras. Childhood friend of Jaime. She loves her family very much and is very dedicated to them. But also with her friendship with Jaime. Sadly, she's a bit oblivious, if not very, when someone would flirt with her openly. She loves to travel to Dorne and even had a child with a noble man of Dorne. But she never told who truly was the father. Her and Jaime reunited when he came back to kings landing. He confesses how jealous he was of her having a relationship before him and they never left each other's side ever since. They eventually marry in secret without telling a soul. But everything came to end when Rachel caught Jaime and Cersei together after Joffrey died. She left to go back to Highgarden with her son. When Jaime killed Olenna, Rachel was arrested for a time. Before he helped her escaped, even if she clearly despises him now. She tried to serve Daenerys for a time until she got killed by Jon Snow. She goes back to Highgarden after Bran becomes king.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's Rhaenyra Targaryen II, Sister of Rhaegar, Older sis of Daenerys. She always tried to please everyone when she was yonger. She tried to help and protect her mother Rhaella, like Jaime, but it often didn't work and would often end in Aerys beating up his own daughter. She couldn't get too friendly with men/boys cause it would end up in the same reasults. She wasn't killed after the rebellion for some reasons. She was kept as a prisoner for years. Until she managed to escape after killing up guards and changing her looks a bit. Since then, she tried to find any survivor of the Targaryen dynasty. She got a niece in Dorne, and a yonger sister who's with the Dothraki. Once she found Daenerys, She explained who she was and tried to help her out as much as possible. As well as protecting her. She'll try to help her keep her sanity and the throne. But she was so anger and destroyed after her death that Rhaenyra disappeared. Probably trying to find drogon. Or death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's Baela Targaryen II, eldest daughter of Rhaegar and Elia Martell. Sibling of Rhaenys and Aegon, half sis of Jon Snow. She never wanted to rule over anything, but she wouldn't mind learning and taking necessary classes anyway. She loved reading and discovering new things. She was very close with her parents and siblings, despite knowing that love wasn't trully and fully present between her mom and dad. She was very close with her uncle Oberyn. But during the rebellion, her and her family was kept in the red dungeons by King Aerys to guarantee Dorne's Loyalty. Baela had to watch her siblings getting butchered and her mother getting raped and killed. Until it was her turn a few days later. She escaped by killing and hurting everyone in her way and lay low for… for what seemed to be an eternity. Until one day, she managed to reached Dorne. Half dead, hair shaved poorly. As poorly as her health. She was taken care by Oberyn and Ellaria. Baela has to hide in Dorne and changed her name for her security. She became an expert in poison, in stealth and assassinations. She became friend with Myrcella and was in charged of her protection and Trystane's. She always hated the Lannister with a burning passion. Besides Myrcella. After Ellaria killed Doran and after Baela realized how Trystane and Myrcella truly died, she left Dorne. Feeling like she was no longer safe, she tried to reach Dragonstone. She was welcomed by her aunt Rhaenyra II and was introduced to Daenerys. After reassuring her that the throne doesn't interest her, she gladly offers her help to take the Lannister and Kings Landing down. Baela almost died during the battle of Winterfell and coudn't participate in the fall of Kings Landing. After the death of Daenerys, she tried to look for her aunt Rhaenyra without much success. She returned to Dorne.
And we're done for the GOT ocs. Please don't come at me, i was just having fun. Sorry in advance for the mistakes. You can just ignore the texts if it bothers you and enjoys the pictures instead !
I also have two more ocs from another fandom but i won't put them in the same post.

Game of Thrones Imagine - Being a Widow with a Child
In this preference, you'll be with: Ned Stark, Robb Stark, Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, Benjen Stark, Jory Cassel, Mance Rayder, Eddison Tollett, Theon Greyjoy, Yara Greyjoy, Victarion Greyjoy, Daenerys Targaryen, Jorah Mormont, Missandei, Grey Worm, Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Sandor Clegane, Bronn of Blackwater, Petyr Baelish, Robert Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, Davos Seaworth, Margaery Tyrell, Brynden Tully, Edmure Tully, Brienne of Tarth, Ramsay Bolton, Roose Bolton, Oberyn Martell, Doran Martell, Arianne Martell
This is going along with the lore that highborn widows with sons are allowed to stay at their deceased husband's keep and rule it until their son is of age! Tho there's some daughters too. IDK this was just in my brain.
Ned Stark
He’s a family man, so he finds your devotion to your daughter charming and attractive. When you married, he allowed your daughter to come along to Winterfell; he couldn’t imagine parting her from her mother. And a nice bonus is that she’s around Jon and Robb’s age, so she could have siblings right away. Though it’s a strange household — a “bastard” son, a son from his first marriage, a step-daughter and eventually a child with you — Ned’s heart swells when he sees you together with all of them. Oh, and Ned would never admit it, but… your soft body and even the stretchmarks are very attractive to him.
Robb Stark
While it’s unconventional for Robb to be marrying a widow, you’re still young and your child is a daughter, so there’s no “threat” to the Starks by her coming along (and Robb would never separate you from her, anyway). He’s unsure for just a day before he quickly takes to her. He has plenty of siblings, after all, and Robb tries to get Rickon to play nice with her. He’d probably be seen as more of a big brother than a real father to her, which Robb is fine with. He plans to do right by her and make sure she’s comfortable in Winterfell — also, it’s adorable how she trails after you.
Sansa Stark
At one point all Sansa could daydream about was being in your position: Married with a child, but now she’s not so naive. She understands you’ve been through a lot, having to protect your child through a war and manage a household that didn’t fully respect you. You take full advantage of the power widowhood gives you, even if it’s temporary. At least it allows you and Sansa to visit, and for you to protect her. As for your son, she’s quite fond of him, though sometimes his smile pulls at her heart because she thinks of her brothers. She’s delighted every time he slips up and calls her “auntie”.
Jon Snow
He has a lot of hang-ups about having children and fatherhood, as you know. Being around your child made him nervous, even if the boy just wanted to play with Jon and look at Ghost. He knew wildlings had different “rules” about these things, but… his heart melts when you care for the boy and he’s treated no different than the other children around. When you talk about the father, Jon is surprised you aren’t upset or ashamed. He thought wildlings lived unhappy and hard lives, but you both challenge that idea. Jon starts to get more attached than he’d like to admit.
Benjen Stark
He always has a little treat tucked away in his cloak for your boy, though you’ve teased Benjen about spoiling him. Your late husband’s keep is one of many places Benjen looks for recruits, so he’s seen your child grow up over several years. And he’s quite popular, with his unusual clothes and tales of the wall. It makes Benjen sentimental to talk to the boy; he’ll start to miss his nieces and nephews in Winterfell. He wonders what it would be like if you could meet them, since he’s quite interested in you. Oh, well. He’s not a man of regrets, so he treasures the moments he gets with you and your child.
Jory Cassel
Jory is surprised he’s marrying at all, let alone a lady of your station. You being widowed doesn’t trouble him, in fact, he wonders if you’re really alright with the arrangement. He wants to make sure your daughter is okay, too! Jory would never imagine separating you two, and while he’s awkward at first, you notice he’s a natural with kids — It must be from all the years of corralling the Stark children. You can tell Jory is very happy with your little family.
Mance Rayder
He’s enamored right away because before he joined the wildlings, never would he had imagined a woman trying to spear him while also carrying a child on her back. Now that you both know each other, there’s less spearing and more Mance humming a tune while your babe falls asleep. He gives you both a soft look when he does that, and you wonder if it’s because crows aren’t allowed wives or children. While Mance is on good enough terms with the curious and rough wildling children in camp, your child is the one who likes to ride on his shoulders on top of his red and black cloak.
Eddison Tollett
Edd grew up with younger siblings and some cousins, so he’s used to being around kids… it has been a while, though. He’s a bit amused by you, a wildling woman carrying around her sassy child on her back. Edd likes to complain about the boy raising hell, but he lets the kid get away with stuffing snowballs in Alliser Thorne’s boots. His interest in you doesn’t heighten or lessen because of a kid, though the boy certainly likes to follow him around. The other Brothers tease him about it, but Edd doesn’t mind too much. Beats sitting alone and talking to the horses.
Pre-Reek!Theon
He never cared much about the brats that ran around Winterfell, and he probably didn’t notice your son until he saw the both of you together. A visit from a pretty girl was rare enough, but a local widowed lady? That was interesting. Theon assumed you were trying to get favor with the Starks — specifically Robb — but he’d still flirt. Watching you be loving with your son stirs a lot of bitter, confusing and even jealous feelings in him. Obviously he’s not going to unpack all that.
Yara Greyjoy
The fact you have a brat at your heels doesn’t deter her attraction to you. She probably wouldn’t pay much mind to the child unless they were exceptionally clever — she outright laughs when they try to tell Yara off for flirting with you. She’s amused if your child begins to idolize her for being a captain, especially if the child was a girl. And when you interact with your child, Yara could almost call it… cute. And she rarely uses that word! The closer you both become, the more she’s like an older sister or cool aunt to your child.
Victarion Greyjoy
When Victarion finds out you’re a widow and not married, he has to physically restrain his relief and happiness. Good, no competition. If she’s a girl, she’ll be allowed to live alongside you on Pyke and little would be expected of her. If he’s a boy, that might be trickier. Victarion might be able to bring him to Pyke and raise him as his own, especially if you were a saltwife. The boy would never be considered a true Greyjoy, but he could still follow the Ironborn way and rise in the society. If you didn’t want your son to be Ironborn, well … sorry about that. Victarion wouldn’t admit it, but he’d like to watch you interact with your kiddo. It gives him a sad nostalgia he can’t quite place.
Daenerys Targaryen
She’s already fond of children, and since she adores you, she attaches herself fairly quickly to your child. She loves finding the similarities in your faces, and watching you play together. Sometimes it’s a bittersweet feeling; she thinks of her own loss and her childhood. But most times you can tell how delighted she is with your child running toward her excitedly, presenting flowers or some such gift. Half the time she doesn’t even need dragons to impress them; they like to sit in her lap and play with her silver hair or stare at her crown. When Daenerys is officially together with you, you both easily fall into parenting your child together.
Jorah Mormont
As if he wasn’t already weak for you… Jorah just adores how you interact with your child, showing them the wonders of Essos, the Khaleesi’s dragons in the sky, making sure they’re comfortable on top of a horse. His heart pounds when the child runs to him for something, and you look at him with such warmth. He’s already daydreaming about the three of you being a family, the thing he thought he missed his chance on. He’ll act paternal without even thinking about it.
Missandei
She was immediately charmed by your child, and the easy, sweet relationship you both had. Missandei can’t remember her mother, but she’s seen many slave and free children be abused through her life. Because of that and because of Missandei’s love for you, she’s always been sweet to your child. She’s happy to teach them languages or history when she has time. No matter how affectionate your kiddo is to her, she doesn’t believe how special she is to them until they called her “sister” or “auntie”. Even when you both were together, Missandei wondered if your child would ever accept her. She could cry once they consider her family.
Grey Worm
Given his and the Unsullied’s upbringing, Grey Worm never thought he’d have a chance to see a normal mother and child relationship. He watches you both with awe and fascination, standing far away so he doesn’t startle the child. Though the child is more likely to startle Grey Worm with his shrieks of delight and running around. Even when you tell Grey Worm he can play games with your child, he’s nervous about doing so, worried he’ll mess up in some way. Once you rope him into spending time with the two of you, he feels a sense of peace he never expected. Visits with you and your child quickly become Grey Worm’s biggest comfort.
Tywin Lannister
In all honesty, he would ignore your daughter for the most part, especially if she was younger. It was already highly unusual that he married a widow with a child; that child in question is certainly an outsider at Casterly Rock, unless you take great steps to educate her and bring her to court. She’ll have finery, but little warmth, unless it’s from you or some friends she manages to make. Even if she’s clever, it’ll take much more for Tywin to deign to notice her. She’s still expected to be presentable at events and in court, however.
Tyrion Lannister
He’s already good with children, and your’s is actually well behaved. Initially Tyrion was attentive to the boy to get your attention, in hopes of securing your favor with one of his schemes. He ended up being fond of the two of you, seeing your own cleverness and compassion in your son, and how much you care for him. It brings up some bittersweet memories of his own upbringing, but he’s also very attracted to your devotion. He might take your boy for a squire, if he’s old enough, or help him achieve a better position.
Jaime Lannister
First off, lucky for him that your spouse is out of the picture, that means any sneaking around is that much easier. He’s not too worried about your son, though; if anything, Jaime doesn’t think much of him. Jaime is distanced from his own children, so he would be with your’s, unless the boy was deadset on following him around. Which, given that Jaime is a famous knight and Kingsguard, he might. Jaime will amuse the boy for a time, but it’s your attention he wants. It’s nice that the boy doesn’t consider him a Kingslayer, though that’s likely because of your influence. And if the lad has obvious talent with a sword, well … maybe Jaime will offer to train him here and there, just to make you happy. He’d feel uncomfortable if the boy began looking up to him, though. He isn’t the sort of person who should be idolized.
Sandor Clegane
Initially, he doesn’t think much of your brat. He’s already in denial of his feelings for you, and a leftover kid from your deceased spouse makes things more complicated. It’s already strange how the child isn’t afraid of him and insists on saying hello. The worst part is he finds himself getting protective when he notices other children harassing your kid — it just takes a good snarl to get them running scared, and he sends the brat back to you, telling you to keep an eye on him. He doesn’t like the strange, sentimental feelings he gets when the two of you are playing together, all but grumbling when you call him over to visit. He never refuses you, though.
Bronn of Blackwater
He doesn’t care about a brat, even if they were born in silks and silver. As if you’re the first woman he’s slept with whose had a kid. Honestly, he rather likes the plumpness around your legs and stomach, and he doesn’t see stretch marks as some awful thing a woman has to hide. So, the mercenary is his usual incorrigible self with you. If he’s feeling like pushing his luck, he’ll tease you about having another kid when you’re sleeping with him… or he’ll mention it’s a shame the husband isn’t around anymore. It’s fun to almost get caught.
Petyr Baelish
He doesn’t think much about your child, initially. Petyr is just pleased your former spouse/lover is out of the equation, that makes things much easier for him. The only reason Petyr socializes with your child at all is just to impress and please you; he’ll buy something for the tot or make conversation with them just to see you smile. It’s easier to get close to you when your child is excited the moment they see him. Though truthfully, Petyr gets a little soft when he sees you bounce the kid on your knee. He loves seeing that sort of open happiness on your face.
Robert Baratheon
Though it caused a great scandal at the time of your marriage, Robert was never bothered by you being widowed or having a child. If anything, he thought the little girl was adorable. She was fearful at first, but then he bought all sorts of extravagant gifts for her while courting you… so now he’s good in her book. Your new husband further disregarded the court by bestowing the title of ‘princess’ to her, which perhaps was another way to please you. Robert is rather turned on by your motherhood, too — he finds the softness of your body and the stretchmarks attractive.
Stannis Baratheon
It was a strange arrangement that brought you two together, and though Stannis had his doubts, he agreed because it was for the best of the realm. Don’t expect him to socialize much with your young daughter; in fact, he has no idea how to approach her. He does take some comfort in her and Shireen getting along, which is more than he could’ve hoped for. Your kindness toward both girls surprises him in a good way. It’s actually… kind of endearing to see you teach them and play with them. He’s still not sure how he fits into it, but Stannis is fine keeping to himself. He figures the three of you wouldn’t want him around.
Davos Seaworth
Well, Davos loves kids and he’s great with them, so he’s amused when he sees your son running around the keep. He met you while gathering allies for Stannis, and quickly developed a rapport with the “young lord” of the keep… Though obviously, as the lord’s widow, you were the one he was discussing the war with. The boy was fascinated with him, so when Davos visited he’d bring a toy he whittled. Davos is in a bit of denial when he starts catching feelings for you, but it’s hard to keep that up when the three of you so well together.
Margaery Tyrell
It’s your child that gets her attention first, because such a charming little boy was a welcome sight in the court of Highgarden. Her cousins loved playing with them, and that led to Margaery finding out more about you. She greatly respects you as a widow, how you’re able to run your House and keep your former husband’s rivals at bay. While Margaery initially invited you to outings to gain your favor, she quickly becomes attached to you and your son. Margaery finds her guard lowering around the two of you, and pulls strings to ensure you’re more comfortable and safe. Her grandmother chides her against her favoritism, but she can't help herself.
Brynden Tully
The old knight is the sort of man whose a natural with children. He adored his nieces and nephew, and he’s always amused by the few children who come by the Bloody Gate, excited to see the famous Blackfish. Brynden will humor your child with war stories whenever you visit. He figures you aren’t truly interested in a man like him, but escorting a lovely widow and her sweetling to the Eyrie is a rare treat. He never fancied himself a lord who would end up married, and he still doesn’t, but… he does have a soft spot for how cute you both are.
Edmure Tully
Firstly — he knows his father would’ve never approved the idea of him marrying a widow, but listen. He likes a pretty smile and good sense of humor, and damn it, you and your son are adorable. He likes the boy run around Riverrun as he pleases, going around the stables and the training yard and the beautiful river. Everyone can tell he’s equally smitten with you. Proper etiquette be damned, he can’t help but invite you to come to Riverrun anytime. It would be considered scandalous if he wasn’t obviously intent on courting you soon. It’d be easier if you had a daughter, but he’ll still be like a fun older brother to your son.
Brienne of Tarth
To begin with, she would always do her utmost to protect you if she was in your service. But something about you being a widow raising a child on her own — perhaps it reminds Brienne of her father’s situation — makes her even more loyal and diligent. If your child begged enough, Brienne would find herself giving them lessons, even if they were a girl. She’d tell herself it was because it was important for a girl to protect herself, it was good exercise, good discipline… but really, she was thinking about her own home life again. Anyone foolish enough to mess with your kid is bringing the wrath of you and a 6”2 woman with a huge sword down upon them.
Ramsay Bolton
His delight at the demise of your spouse is lessened at the thought of you bringing your brat to the Dreadfort. He suppose he should be lucky; since she’s a girl, she can’t inherit your husband’s name, therefore she came along with you. While Ramsay cares little for her, he’ll certainly use her to get closer to you and as leverage if you try to leave. He puts on a mask of kindness and helpfulness so she’ll trust him, though you’re acutely aware it’s an act. The good news is, if you’re obedient, no harm will come to her — even Ramsay knows he has to play nice to keep you cooperative and willing to stay.
Roose Bolton
Roose didn’t give much thought to the child you were bringing into the marriage. She was of little political importance, except maybe for an arranged marriage later down the line. This leads to him being fairly indifferent toward her, though not cruel, and he makes sure she’s provided with anything she needs. He’s fond of watching you play with her, listening to laughter in the Dreadfort for the first time in years. He wonders if you’ll be the same with children you have with him.
Oberyn Martell
He’s very fond of your parental instincts and your love of your child; it’s one of the many things that drew Oberyn. He’s also fond of children and doesn’t see kids from other men as a “threat” to his own love for you — you’re talking to the guy who has eight children from several different women. He’d bring all sorts of toys and treats for your child when he visited, and bring them to play with his younger girls at the Water Gardens. He really delights in seeing the two of you happy together, and, you know… he wouldn’t be opposed to having another …
Doran Martell
No surprise, Doran is a natural with children. When you come to Sunspear, he sees no problem in allowing your child to tag along and makes sure they’re comfortable. They would have no end of playmates between Oberyn’s girls and distant Martell cousins. When Doran is having a difficult day, it warms his heart to see you and the children playing together at the Water Gardens. He’d have your child raised and educated as his own were, and would like it if they all got along.
Arianne Martell
Arianne first met you after your husband died; while she knew of him, he spoke little of his wife and child. Now that you have his keep under your command, she made a point to curry your favor… and ended up growing very fond of you and your son. Arianne is already used to having young children around, so seeing him run up to her in excitement warms her heart. She definitely dotes on your son to please you, and seeing you play with him and give him attention makes her smile, too. More than once you two have been invited to the watergardens to play with her cousins.

@frootnarcissist replied to your post “Hi, big fan of the blog and seen a lot of your...”
Thank you so much for your detailed response! My bet would be on the Hightowers; the appearance of Alerie and Lynesse, the name Baelor, and perhaps some hint with Lord Leyton’s wife’s name being an anagram of Rhae.
Although I do wonder what, if anything, may be implied by Robert having a “stronger claim” than Jon and Ned, who don’t seem to have any claim whatsoever. The Stark family tree would seem to preclude any descent from Rhae (unless she married a Locke), and it would seem odd not to mention Jon having a Targaryen mother. I suppose Jasper Arryn would be my second guess though.
It’s possible that the current Hightowers are descendants of Rhae, although I don’t personally find any of those points particularly compelling. For one, it’s unclear whether Alerie’s silver hair is due to birth or age: after all, GRRM describes her as “handsome”, a term he often uses to denote women who are older rather than younger (compare Catelyn’s first view of Sybell Spicer as “a handsome older lady”, or the “still handsome though grown somewhat stout” Lady Hewett, or Mariya Darry, who “was still a handsome woman” though “[her] hair was streaked with grey”). Likewise, putting aside Jorah’s insistence that Lynesse looked like Daenerys - which may be less a straightforward truth and more evidence of Jorah’s utterly creepy and possessive sexual obsession with Daenerys herself - his niece Dacey only notes that Lynesse had “hair like spun gold”, which is a specific description GRRM never uses for the Targaryens but several times for the Lannisters (Joffrey, Cersei, and Jaime’s dream of Joanna are all described this way, and Lancel is noted as specifically lacking this color hair compared to Jaime). Nor are Targaryen namesakes exclusive to Targaryen descendants: Daeron Vaith, Aemon Estermont, and the five current Freys with Targaryen names all exist without any specific, known bloodline connection to the Targaryens (and personally, I would much rather have more Targaryen namesakes without specific familial connections). As for Rhea Florent, she is not the only holder of her name; Rhea Royce was the Lady of Runestone in the reign of Viserys I. (Whether you think it coincidental or significant that she was married to a Targaryen is I suppose up to you; I think the former.) But again, with really nothing to go on, there is no way to rule out any family conclusively, any more than there is to suggest one.
As for this quote ...
Robert sat down again. “Damn you, Ned Stark. You and Jon Arryn, I loved you both. What have you done to me? You were the one should have been king, you or Jon.”
“You had the better claim, Your Grace.”
... I take that less as a sign that all three - Jon, Ned, and Robert - had bloodline claims and more a sign that Robert, uniquely among them, had an extra dynastic boost from his blood connection to the Targaryens. Robert’s Rebellion did not start as a war to replace the Targaryens with the Baratheons (even if I tend to think the aim of the southron ambitions bloc was to use such a threat to compel the Targaryen dynasty to honor its wishes); it was only shortly before the Trident that Robert declared his intent to take the throne and the rebel faction’s leaders acclaimed Robert king. I imagine that once the rebel faction realized that it was impossible to work with the Targaryen dynasty any longer - Rhaegar explicitly demonstrating that he condoned his father’s actions - the faction’s leaders had long talks among themselves about who should be acclaimed the new king - but since there had never been a change in dynasty in the history of unified Westeros, the very radicalness of this move potentially opened the door to a completely unrelated individual to take the crown. Ned Stark, of the major commanders of the rebel faction, had been arguably the most personally wronged by the Targaryens - his sister apparently abducted by the crown prince, his father and brother cruelly murdered by the king in a gross mockery of justice, his own head called for by that same monarch - and that emotional background might have lent sympathy to a claim by Ned to take the crown instead. Jon Arryn had been the early leader of the rebel faction, indeed the true instigator of the rebellion - it had been he who had defied the king’s demand for his wards’ heads and called his banners instead - and as the elder statesman of the rebel faction he might have been seen as the most senior and seasoned candidate to take the throne.
However, as Ned pointed out in that quote, he and Jon surely both realized that the best chance the rebel faction had to replace the Targaryens was to go with the individual who represented the nearest relation to the Targaryens, suggesting a continuity of power even as the Targaryen dynasty was overthrown. Robert was not simply the handsome, victorious young battlefield commander who had consistently demonstrated his personal bravery and leadership during the course of the war, but the most senior female-line Targarye relative (excluding, obviously, the lines of Rhaella and Shaera, who had of course married back into the main Targaryen male line). Aerys II’s tyranny and Rhaegar’s support of that tyranny may have made it impossible to tolerate the continued presence of the Targaryens on the Iron Throne, but it had still been the Targaryens who had established the united Westerosi state and had ruled over that state uninterrupted for the better part of 300 years. Robert represented a much more palatable choice for greater Westerosi acceptance in this respect; here was not a dictator with an army claiming the crown by killing everyone else (as the unrelated Ned or Jon might have been seen) but the nearest relation to the Targaryens themselves, claiming a familial right with the Targaryens having lost the throne through their tyranny.

Thoughts on Lysa ?
Hello Anon,
Well tbh she reminds me Cersei.
It feels like Martin wrote them very similarly. Or maybe I should say that his approach to these two characters is similar.
Jealous of older/male sibling (Catelyn/Jaime).
Couldn't get the man they wanted (Petyr/Rhaegar) and they ended up with older/abusive men (Jon/Robert).
Daddy issues
Their family don't think good about them that much (All Lannister men/Bryden Tully etc)
Challenging sons (Joffrey/Robin)
You can add more because there is more.
So I would say Lysa also suffers (sometimes even unjustly) author's sexist writing like Cersei does.
Both Cersei and Lysa are women who were used/abused by their fathers first and later they had to suffer their husbands. We know that Robert even r*ped Cersei during their marriage and we also learn that Lysa didn't want to sleep with such an old man like Jon Arryn. So it is safe to say that they had to endure a lot during their marriages.
Martin makes these sufferings quite clear by writing these characters complaining about their marriages which is refreshing to read.
Because we have examples like: Daenerys who fell in love with her abusive/r*pist husband, Sansa who is not allowed to make a bad comment about men who molested her without whitewashing them in next sentence (I beg you to stop it Martin... yes Sansa is a nice girl but enough is enough), Lollys who was r*ped only to give Bronn a larger role in the story, Jeyne whose suffering was all about Theon etc.
So it was refreshing to read these two women talking sh*t about their husbands and seeing how their misfortunes were created by their fathers in the first place. This was some realistic aspect of patriarchal society.
But what bothers me is this: Both Cersei and Lysa are written in a bad light. They are paranoid, awful women who got fat and bitter after their awful marriages.
I mean, these two women are very vocal about their misfortunes and how does author reward them??? By making them fat, ugly, drunk, obsessed, bitter and paranoid. I don't like this.
Another thing that bothers me is: Author made sure that they were "evil" from the beginning. Cersei killed (?) her friend when she was a child and Lysa r*ped Petyr when she was a girl. But their punishments in the end weren't even for these crimes. I mean, Petyr didn't kill Lysa because she r*ped him when he was a boy, he killed her because he didn't need her anymore.
Also I find it interesting that Jon and Petyr are almost the only male characters who suffered sexual assault (by women) in the story but author doesn't examine them either (well Jon questions Wildlings' rape culture but somehow he can't see that he is a victim too -he struggles because of his honor, he doesn't question the consent issue that much- and he ENJOYS the molestation- WTF?). So what was the reason of making Lysa a r*pist?
And I think Martin failed to subvert the trope of older woman is jealous of younger-prettier girl trope with Lysa... But his subverting is better with Cersei in this case.
So in conclusion I would say that I don't like author's cruel take on Lysa. She could have been written better. I wish he hadn't made her a r*pist and I wish she was a protecter for Sansa instead of being the paranoid jealous aunt (imagine Petyr getting rid off her because she was trying to protect her niece from him!!!). Also I wish her family leaving her alone was examined better.
And Martin should let women (and men) be vocal about their traumas in TEXT (not subtext) without making them cartoonishly evil, paranoid, bitter, stupid and ugly.
Thanks for the ask.

Against the Stars ⎿ Jaime Lannister ⏋

----------------------------------------------------------
Highgarden was at its most beautiful time when Spring. As the seat of warden of the Reach, region with the second most populations, and the most fertile corps across seven kingdoms, the palace during spring covered with colourful flowers – as various as common folks could imagine. The flowers were bloomed from the city wall on the way to the lord’s chamber. Ivies twisted across every column along the hallway. The sunlight reflects on the roof of small picnic area where it surrounded by many colours of roses. Lady Olenna Tyrell was enjoying her day routine. The sharp eyes locked at three young girls running along the hallway. While the other two girls were laughing with happiness, one of them only had the huge smile on her face, and instead of running, she seemed to walk fast instead.
That’s because the girl was trained since she started walking. The proper lady shouldn’t be running around like monkey, unless they have chores to do.
Of course, Lady Maryanne Tyrell didn’t have any chores to do. That’s the job for low-born folks that worked for them. She never had to be rush into place, when her handmaiden and septa made sure that whatever she was doing, they would stop her beforehand so Maryanne could walk gracefully to do the next thing. That might sound silly to anyone outside this palace wall – or men even – but these small trick of being a Tyrell Woman always does its job and married them off to Targaryen for generations.
Olenna only gave her only niece a small wave when the girl looked at her. Maryanne bid goodbye to her two friends who turned to Olenna and gave her proper courtesy before they ran off. Young lady made her way to the picnic area. The sky-blue eyes quickly scan around the table, then met with the same pair of eyes of Lady of the house who was already looking at her.
“Maryanne”
“Grandmother” The girl gave old lady a courtesy, then went sit in front of her.
“If you were looking for the lemon cakes, …” The beautiful face went pale, afraid of being scold from her grandmother. As she shouldn’t have sweets during meal. Lady Alerie, her mother, insist that Maryanne could only eat fruits during meal, as the sweets would ruin her perfect body.
“I didn’t …”
“… they’re bringing it here as we’re talking” Lady Olenna finished her sentence before Maryanne could start denying. It took her seconds to process what she had just been told.
“That’s very kind of you, grandmother, but I thought I’m not allowed sweets during meals?”
“Your mother told me that you bled this morning?”
The young girl’s cheek turned crimson. Memories from this morning rushing back in her head. The girl woke up with strange pain and exhaustion that she thought she catch the wild fever and would die. She was too tired and shock to scream or ask for help, instead she laid in pain until her handmaiden came in. Only to make it worse when the handmaiden helped her got up only to see blood everywhere on the mattress. That’s when she passed out.
“Even though I kept praying to the sevens to make it happened. I couldn’t say it’s the good impression” She recalled the chaotic morning with smile.
“How are you feeling right now?”
“I feel like I could sleep for many moons, and – I don’t know is this usual? – but I found it’s very difficult to move during the day with this pain”
“Here’s another lesson from me, child. The pain would be with you for a long, long times, unless you’re with child”
“I presume that wouldn’t be soon, grandmother”
“Then in meantime – eat! – only sweets could make you less exhausted”
The girl’s eyes sparkled with joy when a big plate of lemon cakes was served in front of her. Lady Olenna gave Maryanne a nod, before the girl start eating her favourite cake. The eyes of old lady observed how Maryanne’s tiny fingers delicately picked a small bite of the cake to her mouth. Maryanne was never not be a proper lady. The young girl always found her way to make everything proper -- as it was what she had been told that only proper high-born lady would have a chance to be queen.
“Maryanne”
The girl looked up and stopped eating. “Yes grandmother?”
“Now that you’re a woman, no longer a girl, have you ever thinking about marriage?”
Maryanne thought for second before slowly nodded her head. “Yes, I have”
“What about it, child?”
“When I went to the town with Jenny, I heard a song about a maiden who married to her true love. They live in the beautiful castle, along with their children. Until death do them part”
“Hmm” Lady Olenna slowly nodded. “That’s not marriage
Maryanne’s smile slowly faded away. “It could be mine”
“Yes, if you want to be wed to the banner man in the north and live in the old castle deep forest somewhere – The Dreadfort, perhaps? – Lady Maryanne Bolton?”
“That’s not what I meant” the young girl mumbled
“Now, what did I tell you about mumbling? Speak up girl. No one hear women voice if they keep mumbling. Let’s alone the voice of young girl”
The young girl inhaled “I don’t want to live in the north, grandmother” she said, this time, louder.
Olenna watched her oldest grandchildren calculatedly. Thanks to the sevens that so far, Maryanne was still on the path of Tyrell women.
Since Aegon Targaryen named House of Tyrell as the warden of the reach, the dragon had become main goal of roses.
Only powerful soil would make the rose bloom wonderfully.
Only Targaryen would be the perfect match for Tyrell.
“Alright, let’s make sure your father would do stupid things at the tourney then. Sevens, every lord in Westeros would be there, including other great houses. The last thing we want them to know is how useless their future good-father could be”
Maryanne raised her eyebrows, uncomfortable for the perspective of Olenna having towards her son, in the other word, Maryanne’s lord father. Since she could process things in life, Maryanne came to realise that no matter how the world seems to be leaning towards men’s favour. Provide titles, fortune, heritage, or even name for every man. Somehow – behind the close door – the women’s opinion seems to be the force to push that to happened. She spends hours study her family trees since the first year of Aegon Conqueror, only thing Tyrell men mainly achieved was Harlen Tyrell bending his knee in front of the dragon king, right after the dead of King of the Reach at the time. Ironically, that might be the advice from his lady mother.
Tyrell women, with her charming personality and appearance, blooming gracefully like roses in summertime, were succeed in having men wrapped around their fingers. With the powerful intelligent women who know how to play the Westeros politic game, and the mighty force of Highgarden Honour Guard, led by skilled knights of Tyrell men, house of golden rose was continually blooming vigorously than ever.
“Don’t you worry, grandmother. I will marry well”
Olenna finally smiled. It was a genuine smile that the queen of thrones herself only preserve for the family. “I know you would, precious rose. You’re Tyrell after all”
#
Maryanne always loved supper at Highgarden. Born in the reach, where it was named the most fertile land in the kingdom, was truly a bless. She enjoyed every bite of her food. Today it was braised lamb. The meat was tender beyond believe. The savoury flavour was eased by the summer salad where fruits and greens vegetable brought out the taste of summer. Unfortunately, the happiness of a young girl didn’t last long when servant started to serve them the rose cream with berries sorbet. That’s when adults decided it was perfect time to talk about business. Normally Maryanne wouldn’t engaging in any of that topic. As usual, she was focusing on the sweet and sour sorbet in front of her, while her name was mentioned multiple time in the conversation. Eventually, the young lady channelled her attention to the conversation.
“… we’re not the only one in this humiliation” her father stated from the head of table, with her mother sit next to him. They were talking to grandmother, who sit in the other end of table.
“May I remind you what you missed, Mace?” her grandmother didn’t even look up from her dessert “humiliation”
“And I am assuring you that the king has made his decision, years ago, reasonably I might add”
“I know his reason why he married his eldest son to Dorne Princess. Everyone knows that. I just simply pointed out that now, we can support his army as much as Dorne can do, and Maryanne is now a grown woman” she looked at Maryanne, who – despite fully paying attention to the conversation – but still manage to almost finish her rose cream “Don’t you think we should think about betrothal with Targaryen again?”
“But we all heard about Prince Viserys and his resemblance to the king” Lady Alerie spoke up without turned her eyes away from her firstborn. “I don’t want her to have the same fate as Queen Rhaella”
“Only if her husband could be Prince Rhaegar”
Lady Olenna exhaled. As much as she hated to admit, the situation of Targaryen in this time isn’t as normal as it was. When she was young, the mentioning of marriage with Targaryen deserved the seven nights of celebrations. Now, it deserved to be thinking about couple times before making final decision. That’s why when they missed the betrothal with the eldest prince, who seemed to be the good side of the coin, Senior Tyrell couldn’t be more disappointed.
“Either we arrange the proposal now or we wait until the queen has daughter, which of course the prince would marry his sister, and there won’t be any chance for Maryanne”
“What about Tywin’s son” Alerie suggested
“Hopefully you meant the Knight one” Lady Olenna chuckled. “Because we didn’t raise Maryanne to be the wife of the imp”
“Imp?” Maryanne interrupted the conversation. “Do I have to marry the imp?”
Lady Olenna laughed but didn’t answer, Alerie was the one who quickly assure her daughter “No sweetheart. You won’t marry the imp” then she turned to Olenna “Yes mother, I meant the oldest one. Jaime Lannister”
“Well, we could see the possibility if Tywin agree. However, as we have talked about before, Maryanne won’t be the princess”
“Yes, but she would be the wife of Hand of the King’s son”
“Of course, and that would make us the most powerful house in Westeros” Olenna sarcastically chuckled at her good-daughter’s idea
“Mother, what about the Starks” Mace wavily voice echoed from the other end of table. The lord had been waiting until his wife and mother finish the heat discussion before he decided to jump in again. Only his idea seems to receive the glare from both women.
“We are talking about making her the powerful woman in Westeros and you suggested us to marry her off to the North?” Alerie asked her husband with high voice. “Brandon already betrothed to Tully girl. Now you want Maryanne to be wife of banner man and live somewhere in that cold place?”
“But if we’re worried about prince Viseryse might turned into the man like the King, marry her to Eddard Stark would be the good idea. He’s the honourable man, better than Lannister. I would feel better if my firstborn is in the care of Stark man”
Somehow, the two ladies went quite after lord Mace explained his reason. It is true that Maryanne should marry someone powerful. But give the current state of the King. Being anywhere near him could mean she will be in the grave danger.
“Does that make us less powerful than Lannister? If I have to listen to lord Tywin as his good-daughter” Maryanne who finished the dessert spoke with her sweet voice. Cut through the silence on table. Her parents looked at her, unexpected the young girl to join the conversation, as Maryanne seemed to prefer ran off and play with her friends in the garden every time after supper. They barely noticed that today, the girl stayed and listen to the conversation after she finished her supper.
“Don’t you want to go out and play? Sweetheart?” Alerie asked her daughter softly
“I’m not a girl anymore, mother. I am a woman now, and a woman don’t play anymore” Maryanne answered confidently. She sat with her back straight, her dark honey hair reflected the moonlight from garden next to the supper room. “I’m ready to talk about my marriage, if you would allow me into this conversation”
“Go on, child, speak your mind” Olenna encouraged Maryanne. The old lady looked at her niece proudly.
“Father, that’s very sweet about what you think about the Stark. But I don’t think I will be happy up in the north” she gave her father a sweet smile, which Mace gave her in return. Then Maryanne turned to Olenna “Like I told you, grandmother, I will make you proud. I will marry well” then she looked at the person who sit opposite of her “Mother, after I see what you and father have every day, I want it too. I want love in my marriage. I know it’s almost impossible, but I believe that being Tyrell could make it possible”
Three adults shared the look. It was the mixed feeling of proud and joy. Maryanne did really grow up. The young lady not only know what her want, but also do not afraid to speak her mind in the sweetest way.
Mace sighed, seeing his firstborn talked about marriage wasn’t easy for a father. It felt like yesterday when he held the seven days celebrations for her birth. When he held her the first time, knowing she was his first unconditional love. Maryanne might not be heir of Highgarden, and one day she would be called by her husband’s name. He still wanted that name to be her protection, as what Tyrell had been her protection for ten and three years.
“Fine, we will see who your first choice would be. If it’s bad, then it’s up to your grandmother and us”
Alerie swore that Maryanne’s smile that day was brighter than the moon. This was the first proof that being Tyrell came with choices. Every lord in Westeros would do anything to marry a Tyrell. Although, high-born girls rarely got a chance to say in their own marriage, but being Tyrell meant you had upper card in your hand in this game. Now, her daughter was about to experience that.
“The tourney in Harrenhall is only weeks away, I’m sure you will enjoy the event, my love” Alerie gave her daughter an encouraging nod. “Mace, I don’t think you should take the boys to Riverland. They’re too young to travel” she referred to young Willas and baby Gerland.
“I’ll go with Mace” Olenna stated. “I have something to take care of with Lord Whent” the old lady mentioned Lord of Harrenhall.
“That’s settled then” Mace sipped his rose wine. “Sweet dream, mother, Maryanne” then he left.
Olenna looked at Maryanne “You’ll need the whole new wardrobe for the tourney”
The sky blue eyed went wide. She loved getting new things, especially gown. This time she would finally get her own women gowns with sheer fabric.
“Don’t worry lady mother, I will make sure Maryanne get everything she need” Alerie assured. Lady Olenna only nodded before left for her chamber. Her mother gave her a hand, implied that she would walk Maryanne back to the chamber. It was this time when Alerie could feel Maryanne’s time in Highgarden started to count down. This must be what Lady Hightower felt when Alerie was getting ready to marry off. After all Maryanne was her firstborn, and she had no clue on how to cope with this feeling.
Still, the Lady of Highgarden simply walked down the corridor with her daughter, hand in hand. Maryanne seemed to forget her adult moment in supper room and became a young girl again. The girl filled silence at night with her story of what happened today. When they reached the chamber, Alerie kissed her oldest goodnight
“Sweet dream, my precious rose. We will talk about your new hair tomorrow”
Maryanne’s hand quickly went to her long braid that decorated with roses and gold ribbon. The braid reached her small waist, and it was her favourite hairstyle.
“But I love the braid”
“Now that you’re a young lady who’s ready for marriage, I think letting your hair down would suit you better”
“You think?”
Lady of Highgarden hummed. She kissed Maryanne’s cheek and left for her chamber. The girl went to her vanity desk, waiting for her handmaid to come and get her ready for bed. However, her sky blue eyed never left her own reflection from mirror.
She would finally look like a grown up tomorrow with her new hair.
No longer a little girl, Maryanne Tyrell was a woman.

The best way to get over the Jaime x Brienne ending in GoT is for twow ados to come out, but seen as that isn’t going to happen soon, I found the next best thing is to imagine an even worse and ten times more outrageous ending for them then we already got. One I came up with was that Cersei survives the collapse of the redkeep but Jaime does not, she flees to Essos and has a baby girl, Brienne is also pregnant and has a baby boy. They both die in child birth. Brienne doesn’t even stay alive long enough to name her son, so seeing as Tyrion is his next of kin, he gets to name him, and because of a drunk bet gone wrong he ends up having to name his nephew Bronn, to make up for that Tyrion gets him legitimised by king Bran and he becomes Bronn Lannister and heir to Casterly Rock. Cersei is D and Ds favourite so she gets the privilege of naming her daughter before she dies no naturally she calls her Cersei Junior.
Bronn Lann is handsome like his father and popular with the ladies but is aimless and prone to melancholy, probably due to the fact that his father figure Tyrion became even more of a drunk in his later years and the only other influences in his life are Bronn senior a total dude bro and Bran who is emotionless. Podrick would’ve of been an excellent role model for him but when Bronn jr was four, Pod died of a heart attack after after an excessive round with 6 whores. Whenever he happens to be sober Tyrion worried that Bronn Jr would never settle, down marry and create heirs for the rock. Bronn Lannister changes his ways, though when he falls in love with a mysterious woman from beyond the seas.
Cersei Junior is beautiful and fearless orphan, she was taken in by many different families when she was younger but she never stayed anywhere for long, her great beauty soon became widely known she ended up married to an Essosi lord. He turned out to be cruel so she killed him and took all his riches to buy a ship and travel the world. As she knew Cersei was a name of a Westerosi queen from the past and that she had blonde hair she guessed her parents were westerosi so after many years of drifting she decided to visit Westeros to see if it felt like home. She ended up docking at Casterly rock, where she ended up falling in love with the young lord from there.
Tyrion didn’t take much notice of his nephews lovers but as soon as he stopped drinking for 5 minutes he realised that not only did Bronn Jr’s new love looked like his sister but she had the same name, he then remembered that he never actually found Cersei’s body. By the time that Tyrion informed them that not only are they most likely cousins but half brother and sister it was to late as Cersei Jr was already pregnant. Bronn Jr married his half sister and she became Cersei Lannister lady of Casterly Rock. They ended up having twins. Tyrion was relieved that the twins turned out to be two girls because even if they did end up having incestuous feelings for each other at least they couldn’t procreate. Tyrion suggested to his niece and nephew that they name the girls after both their mothers to put all bad blood from the past behind them, so the girls were named Brienne and Cersei Junior Junior.
Think I did it.

Youngest - Jaime Lannister
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jaime Lannister x Reader (Platonic)
Characters: Jaime Lannister, Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon
Warnings: N/A
Request: Anon: “Could you write an imagine for being the youngest Lannister? Y/N is a girl but looks up to Jaime and wants to be a knight like him. She also loves Cersei and Tyrion. Some sibling fluff please?”
Word Count: 766
Author: Hannah
Being the youngest in your family had its merit – you tended to get away with things a lot easier than your elder siblings, and your father didn’t put as much pressure on you as he did his eldest children.
You knew that not a lot of people favoured your family, you weren’t exactly known for being kind or forgiving but you were loyal to your own.
Your eldest brother Jaime had always been your favourite and you made no attempts to hide it.
Your only sister, Cersei, whilst she seemed cold and horrid to others to you, she was like a mother.
And your other brother Tyrion, he had his moments where he was cool and sarcastic but when he was with you, he always tried his hardest to get you to smile.
By no means were you a functional and loving family but you loved each other in your own ways.
Whilst you were sat at your window seat of your chambers, enjoying the view with a book in your hand, a knock sounded from your door.
“Who is it?” you questioned without getting up.
A chuckle came before your answer. “Your brave and noble brother, my lady.”
“Tyrion?”
As your door was pushed open, your brother Jaime groaned before he stepped inside and pushed the door shut.
“Well you’re certainly not brave and noble,” you joked with a smile.
Jaime held a hand to his heart. “You wound me dear sister.”
Giggling you placed your book down and rose to stand next to your brother.
“I came to fetch you,” he stated, offering you his arm.
Your brow furrowed in confusion. “I wasn’t aware of any gatherings.”
He simply shot you a wink before taking your hand and tucking it into his elbow. “All will be revealed soon dear sister.”
The two of you walked through the palace halls until you reached your elder sister’s chambers, as the Queen Regent she still had rather prestigious chambers.
Jaime pushed open her door and you saw your other two siblings, your nephews and niece and your father all gathered together.
For the second time that day you were confused.
“What is this?”
Your nephew Joffrey rose, with a rare smile on his face that he reserved for you and occasionally his mother.
Joffrey held up a glass of wine towards you and motioned for the rest of your family to do the same.
“As your King, my dearest Aunt, it is with great pleasure that I inform you of your accepted knighthood and a place on my guard if you so wish.”
Your mouth dropped open in surprise, turning to Jaime in shock.
It was no secret to your family that you had always looked up to Jaime, as well as longed to become a knight like him but it was not commonplace for a woman of your standing to be accepted into the fold.
And to be accepted onto the king’s guard, given all that you were required to sacrifice, really was a great honour.
Your father cleared his throat causing you to turn to him. “Whilst you have some training my dear, it is not sufficient and therefore your brother will be in charge of you until such time that he believes you are capable on your own.”
“Is this some sort of joke?” you questioned, still not believing what you were hearing.
Tyrion slurped his wine rather loudly as he rolled his eyes. “Now now dear sister, you are not mentally retarded nor are you incapable of physical exertion.”
Rolling your eyes, mimicking your brother, you retorted. “And we all know, dear brother, just how mentally retarded you are so it is a shame that myself, as the youngest, must make up for your short comings.”
Whilst your father grimaced at your over exaggeration of a certain word, Tyrion simply laughed as he always did with your humour and raised his glass to you.
Cersei rose from her seat and came to envelop you in an embrace.
“Take the knighthood young one,” she whispered in your ear as she squeezed you gently. “It is all you have ever wanted after all.”
Smiling at your elder sister as she took a step back from you, you bowed your head towards your nephew. “It would be my pleasure, your grace, to accept the position on your guard.”
At your words, your family broke out into applause and cheers causing you to laugh and shake your head at those around you – yes you were cold and unforgiving to others, but to each other you were valued.

Hi hello! So happy to be able to offer you something 😊
Redfish, Blame it on the love of Rock-'n'-roll
*RUBS HANDS* THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH *cracks knuckles*
[leave me bon jovi inspired prompts!]
blame it on the love of rock n’ roll (jonc/brynden, past one sided jonc/rhaegar, jaime, oberyn, jon s.;, pg13)
“He can’t have - he can’t just have done that,” Jaime Lannister says for the umpteenth time in the last thirty minutes, and - in any other case, Jon would have told him yes, I know, I’m entirely fucking aware, I have the offspring to show for it currently sleeping in my spare room right behind us, but all things considered... he can’t blame him. He really can’t.
“Well,” Oberyn says, shrugging, sitting across Jon’s sofa in a way that honestly should be reserved for R-rated movies, but he’ll leave it at that, it’s too hot and he’s too tired to tell him to do any different, “he has, and while I suppose that for him this entire exercise was a past time, but I think it doesn’t solve our main problem here, which is that next week we should audition for a record deal, and we can’t exactly do it without the lead singer, so how does anyone here suggest to proceed? Because as resourceful as I usually am, I have zilch here, and we’re never going to find anyone who’s going to learn all the songs in a week.”
Jon wants to scream.
Fact is: when he and Rhaegar and Oberyn stared playing together in Oberyn’s father’s basement in high school, it was for shits and giggles and because they wanted to play Nirvana covers and impress girls, or better, Rhaegar wanted to impress girls, he wanted to impress Rhaegar (and maybe guys, but mainly Rhaegar) and Oberyn wanted to impress everyone regardless of gender, but then... they had fun, and it stuck, and they started actually writing their own songs, and then Rhaegar said that he was tired of playing guitar if he had to concentrate on singing and while they were in uni they searched for a guitarist, and -
Well, Jaime Lannister had showed up, and he had been a tad younger than them and obviously had a lot of family trauma to share looking at his lyrics, but he was fucking good, and so they took him, and -
And after some five years of grueling sets in pubs they did manage to land a meeting with this guy Mance Ryder from an indie label who apparently liked them very much, and it would be a damned record deal, and that’s when Rhaegar decides that he’s going to... elope with his girlfriend and leave their six-month old with Jon himself and they’re going to find themselves in India or whatever and that’s not going into the fact that the six-month old was born after a bad split from Oberyn’s sister and it’s a miracle Oberyn hadn’t murdered him in the spirit of friendship and being in the goddamned same band.
Fucking hell.
And now both Lannister and Oberyn are looking at him because they’re apparently in the only band in existence where the decision-maker is the fucking bassist, that’d be him.
Fucking hell.
“Okay,” he says, “well. No, we can’t find another singer, not at short notice. Especially since they didn’t say what songs they want to hear so what if they just ask out of the blue, but.” He closes his eyes, tries to think about it. There has to be a way to get out of this mess, and certainly he isn’t good enough of a singer to take Rhaegar’s place -
Wait a fucking second.
“Okay,” he says, “Jaime.”
“... Yes?”
“From this moment on you’re on vocals.”
“What the hell? Jon, I’m -”
“You wrote more than half of the lyrics, you know them and you can sing worth a damn, which is way more than me and him can say for ourselves, and while finding a new singer is impossible, a new guitarist - well, someone good can learn most of the songs and improvise in case. Sure as fuck it’s less of a long shot.”
“But -”
“But nothing, Jaime. I know you liked it better if someone else sang about how shitty your sister is, but if we want this deal it’s either you or no one else. And now - now let’s just get online and send the word out. It’s Wednesday, we have to audition Friday next week, we can fucking hope it’s long enough for someone to show up.”
Two hours later, he’s sent Oberyn and Jaime off with a bunch of flyers and he has put online ads too - he also knows that it’s highly fucking unlikely that a skilled guitarist enough to improvise like that will walk into his house in the fucking middle of July being a good fit. Sure, there’s the possible record deal thing up that might sweeten the pot, but.
But he’s nowhere near sure that it’d be enough.
Still.
They’ll see. And Oberyn and Jaime better be there every single afternoon until Friday next week.
--
The next Wednesday, the heat is unbearable, his namesake is crying desperately because it’s too hot, Jaime and Oberyn are failing to calm him and Jon has just sent away the umpteenth college kid who tried to audition and was a shit fit and just cared for the record deal.
“We’re fucked, aren’t we,” Oberyn says, matter of fact, as Jaime finally manages to get the younger Jon to calm down.
Considering that Rhaegar hasn’t answered a single message -
Fuck, Jon had been trying to get over him for ages.
He’s sure this might be what actually makes sure he does.
“Probably,” Jon says, “unless some miracle happens right the fuck now, but -”
His phone starts ringing.
It’s an unknown number.
Jon takes it.
“Yes?” He asks, tentatively.
“Jon Connington?” A deep male voice asks, slightly gruff, but Jon can’t help thinking it’s nice. It has a lovely warm baritone to it, for sure.
“That’d be me.”
“My name is Brynden Tully. I’m calling for the Kingsguard audition.”
Jon doesn’t want to say that this guy sounds competent, but.
But.
“If you haven’t filled that position already, of course.”
“Oh, no. Not at all. You’re welcome to come even now - the place isn’t ideal, but... we don’t have the studio, this week.”
“Not a problem at all. Should I come to the address that was on the ad?”
“Yes,” Jon says, “it’s - it’s my house. We’ll meet you outside, I have all the gear in the garage.”
“Very well. I could be there in half an hour - or two, if I have to go back home and get my own guitar -”
“No,” Jon says, “it’s all right, I have more than one that you can use. Thank you, I -”
“You haven’t tried me yet,” the man replies, and he sounds like he’s smiling, and the call closes.
“Well,” he says, “let’s get to the garage and let’s hope this one guy is the miracle.”
“Did it sound like he could be?” Oberyn asks while Jaime says he’ll go get something to put the poor kid in while he has to listen to them, at least Rhaegar left him with the fucking supplies to care for him.
“He sounded more competent than any of the other guys who showed up.” The whole fifteen of them, but never mind that.
Jon walks down to the garage, already sweating the moment he sets foot out of the house. Fucking hell. This is the hottest summer he can remember in years, he just hopes he doesn’t end up fainting while they rehearse. Now that wouldn’t convince anyone to join his band, right?
--
They manage to get settled fairly soon - sure, Oberyn hasn’t played with that drum kit in years and Jaime is grumbling that not playing will be fucking weird, and the younger Jon at least doesn’t seem too bothered by their tuning, and then -
“I imagine these are the Kingsguard’s quarters?”
Jon raises his head from his bass, staring at the man who just came inside the garage, and -
Well, fuck.
Having been into Rhaegar for all of his life, he has always found people older than him hot on a general notion, but he never looked into it. But this guy - fuck. He has to have at least fifteen years on him, never mind Lannister, that would make it at least twenty, but he’s hot, with auburn hair with just the slightest hint of silver here and there, a short beard and bright blue eyes on a face with tanned skin and a few lines here and there. He’s also wearing jeans, dark boots and a fucking black leather jacket in the middle of this heat, and how does anyone do that without fainting, but - but honestly, Jon kind of never was so instantly attracted to anyone in his entire life bar Rhaegar, and - yeah.
Let’s not just discuss that now.
“Yes,” he says. “Brynden Tully, right?”
“In the flesh. I see that you are... somehow in trouble?”
“What gave that out?” Jaime smirks. “The garage, the fact that we had a week to audition before a record deal or that we’re looking after a kid that doesn’t belong to either of us?”
“All of that, honestly,” Brynden replies, “but the kid would be the most glaring one. The rest... happens. Also, the ad said you looked for a guitarist and if someone knows anything about the scene, I’d have thought golden boy here had quit.”
Jon decides that it’s the case to be upfront.
“Yeah, well.” He sighs. “The kid belongs to our former singer. Who has eloped with his girlfriend in the middle of the night last week because of family disagreements and shit and he left us like this. Fact is, auditioning a singer is a whole goddamned mess, and golden boy there writes most of the lyrics anyway and can carry a tune, so I have not democratically decided to put him on that and audition for the guitarist instead.”
“Thanks for recognizing it was not democratic,” Jaime mutters.
“Well, I’d have voted with him,” Oberyn replies, rolling a drumstick in his hand.
“So,” Jon sighs, “we actually need the guitarist instead. I understand that learning an entire repertoire in a day if you’re a fit might be a problem, but -”
“I think that shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Wait, how?”
The man smiles ever so slightly. “First thing, I didn’t read that ad from the internet. I learned about this because my niece is engaged to your singer’s girlfriend’s brother and she called me up telling me about it.”
“Wait, you’re - oh, shit, Catelyn Tully, I didn’t even -”
“So,” Brynden smirks wider, “my niece, who’s known me for years, knows that the only reason I never was in a band that actually got a record deal was that I got kicked out of the house back in the day because the relatives didn’t like my sentimental preferences.” A wink. Oh. “And thing is, I’m good. Improvising type good. But at that point I couldn’t survive on it and so I found a more boring job, but I never stopped playing and I go to gigs and I know the circuit and I actually did listen to most of your songs, that demo you were selling last year was really good. So... I actually do know most of them. And I made enough money now to afford actually playing full time.”
“Then,” Jon says, not believing his luck, “I think we should just try you already. Just pick any guitar from the stands. We can do one of our usual covers to start with and then a few of ours.”
“Sounds good. I’ll go serve myself, then.”
He goes to where Jon keeps the guitar stands, chooses a red Stratocaster and goes to join them while Jaime seems to try and find a decent position, for someone that outwardly charming you’d think he would want to be a lead singer, and yet.
Never mind.
Please let him be the right one, Jon thinks, and if maybe he wasn’t just thinking about it in band terms, well, no one has to know.
--
“You’re hired,” he says to Brynden five songs later. “And you,” he tells Jaime, “you can sing, just - please try to not be awkward as hell tomorrow. You can do it, I swear.”
“That’s what you say,” Jaime scoffs, “but yeah. What - you’re good. Enough that I almost don’t hate the idea of not playing those solos anymore.”
“I say that if Rhaegar ever wants to come back we tell him to fuck off,” Oberyn proclaims. “And I’d say welcome to the club. If we fail the audition please don’t leave.”
Brynden laughs, putting the guitar away. “Oh, I had missed doing this regularly. Don’t think I won’t.”
“Well,” Jaime says, “it’s late and I need to - psych myself up. I’ll - I’ll go get a drink. And be in touch.”
He stalks out of the garage, looking like he’ll faint.
“I’ll go after him,” Oberyn says. “Don’t worry, I’ll get him to relax one way or the other.”
“You know he’s straight!” Jon calls after him, but they both already disappeared beyond his driveway.
Whatever. Maybe Oberyn is gonna find him a decent lay. Anything as long as he projects some confidence the day after tomorrow.
“You know,” Brynden says, “I was going to ask if you wanted to come out for a drink to celebrate, but I understand that if you have to mind the kid -”
Jon stops dead in his tracks, turning to look up at Brynden, who - who is half-grinning at him in the way people do when asking to buy someone a drink because they’re interested and fuck Jon really wants to kiss him, and he has a feeling he’s going to hang around in the band a lot, and -
“Tell you what,” he says, “I do, but I also have alcohol upstairs. Fancy it if I make you that drink?”
“Oh,” Brynden says, “excellent compromise, I say. Lead on.”
He smiles.
Jon smiles back.
Ten years later
“You’re not saying that the first time you two smooched I was watching,” Jon Stark groans from his seat in Jaime’s cramped living room where they’re celebrating having come back from their last UK tour during which Brynden not-so-incidentally asked Jon if he would want to make things official in the backstage after the last show, a question to Jon enthusiastically answered yes just before frenching him in front of each single roadie still moving around the place.
“No,” Brynden says, “you were actually dead to the world after having cried your eyes out for one hour, and we didn’t do anything else, but you were in the same room.”
“Gross,” the kid snorts, and Jon is just thankful that he eventually ended up with Ned and Cat because he certainly wasn’t going to raise a kid properly and that he’s not visibly traumatized by how shitty his biological parents have been to him. Never mind that Rhaegar never apologized for bailing but eventually said well you sound a lot better like this, and - Jon will always love him in a way, but he was truly over him romantically at that point.
“I’d say,” Jon says, “that you should be honored that you were not-watching-but-there the day I smooched the love of my life, but what have you.”
“Oh,” Jaime snorts, “you are writing the love ballads now.”
“Forget it,” Jon replies, “wouldn’t Brienne be sad about it?”
“Please,” the girl in question says from the kitchen where she forbade any of them to enter while she got dinner ready, all of you except Oberyn can’t cook for shit, I’m not risking it, “I think you all can stand some variety from me. And congratulations.”
"Gross,” the other Jon replies, and - he lets that go, he’s ten, everything in that sense is probably gross to him, and then rough, calloused fingers hold his and -
“The love of my life now? Maybe you should write me a ballad.”
“Hm,” Jon replies, “maybe I will, but just if you do the same. Maybe Lannister deserves a break from songwriting.”
“Think I can handle it,” Brynden says, and so what if he can hear Jaime in the background telling them that if they don’t go down at it too hard they can use their bed while they kiss?
Who cares.
Maybe they’ll even take him up on the offer. What he knows is that he can’t wait to make things official and to write that damned ballad.
Oh, yes, he thinks, life is good, and then he kisses Brynden harder and tunes out anything else going on in the room.
End.

~Trastamara Curiosities & Stranger (and more terrifying) than Fiction: When Trastamaras Strike Back ~
Anyone remember when Cersei told Margaery that if she ever called her sister again she'd have her strangled in her sleep? Cersei cited the examples of her father's former vassals, the uppity Castamere clan who along with the Tarbecks thought they could outrank the Lannisters aaaaaaaand we know how that went.
The same thing happened during the Castilian war of the Castilian Succession which was a war between her and her niece, Dona Juana whom she and her supporters, including her husband, had nicknamed "La Beltraneja" due to the rumors surrounding her mother's affair with one of her late father's favorites, Beltran de La Cueva.
The two sides fought like dogs in their wives' names. King Alfonso V wasn't going to give up so easily. Portugal would finally have a footing in Castile, he could control the wealthiest nation in the Iberian Peninsula through her, foiling Isabella and Ferdinand's plan to unite Spain at last.*
Needless to say, it all ended badly and before long, Isabella and her hubby showed the world that like the Lannisters, who they were and what they did to their enemies, especially those that thought that could best them.
Cersei added with a smirk as she continued telling Margaery the story that her father didn’t just stop there. He hung all the surviving family members and their servants from the Castamere castle walls and left them there all summer. With an even more sardonic smile, relishing at the memory when she saw their rotting bodies hanging from the castle walls of Castamere, she says that “it was a long summer”, and the sight of them was enough to remind everyone of what happened to those who crossed her family. “And now the Reynes weep o’ their halls and not a soul to hear.” This is not by any stretch of the imagination an exaggeration of what happened when uppity vassals rebelled against their lords and masters. In the case of Isabella vs her niece, Dona Juana, Queen Consort of Portugal aka “La Beltraneja”, this is what happened during their civil war. When Ferdinand was heading to El Toro, Isabella decided to remain at Tordesillas, preferring to leave the siege of an important fort that had sided with her niece, to him. If the King of Portugal and Juana reached this fort before they did, all would be lost. Ferdinand wasted no time showing them who was boss and in a fashion that makes Game of Thrones look like a Disney show, Ferdinand ordered the Duke of Alba to launch an attack big enough to block out the sun (as one Persian general supposedly told a Spartan from among the 300 who confronted Xerxes II’s forces over a thousand years prior); and to his credit, they nearly did. The people inside the fort waved a flag of surrender. Not once but twice, but their pleas became irrelevant. The fort was taken and Ferdinand, not King of Aragon yet, but wise enough to know how to inspire loyalty in his troops and make an example of his enemies that made the rest of them tremble in fear, ordered everyone to be put to the sword or swung from the castle walls. And just like what Cersei told her beloved daughter-in-la, he let them stay there all summer. Summers in Spain were very hot and they rot pretty quickly. One anonymous chronicler describes the scene as nightmarish. This, he said, was “like hell”. “No one had seen so many people hung together.” The country would soon devolve into score-settling if this conflict didn’t get resolved. Isabella and her husband were aware of this, and throughout the entire ordeal, they remained together as one. Plotting, and out-maneuvering their enemies. It was the birth of Isabella’s only son that tuned the tide in their favor. With the prospect of a Prince who would inherit both crowns, fulfilling everyone’s dream of a united Spain, people began flocking to her and away from Juana until the poor girl had no choice but to give up her claim and spend the rest of her days in a convent. When Isabella received news of her husband’s victory, she wasted no time celebrating it. In Giles Tremlett’s words from his new biography on Isabella, the young Queen felt an enormous joy once she heard of this glorious new, “military victories, it soon became obvious, excited her tremendously.” Ferdinand and Isabella, as one as the other, ran their motto. (Tanto Monta/ Monta Tanto.) They had shown their opponents what they were made of, and how far they were willing to go. This was war, and if the crown was on her head and she was winning, then it was an affirmation of her belief that she was queen because God wanted her to be. We can all agree, that as far as queens and military commanders go, Cersei and Tywin pale in comparison to the might of the Trastamara couple. To top it off, Isabella wasn’t afraid to give her husband a tongue lashing either. After that successful siege, word broke out to the King of Portugal. To boast his bravado, Ferdinand challenged Alfonso V to single combat. No king took this seriously and made outrageous demands that none of them would comply. But then something happened. One of the King of Portugal’s emissaries angered a Castilian friar by his presence alone. The friar was Alonso de Burgos and he was known for his bawdy behavior. He struck the Portuguese emissary down and afterwards, he was cheered by the Prince of Aragon’s men. This gave the King of Portugal an even better excuse as to why he couldn’t agree to the match. Ferdinand was embarrassed. He apologized to the emissary and let him go then reprimanded the friar. His soldiers were outraged and saw this as weakness on his part, particularly his Basque troops whom had been his most ardent (and ruthless) supporters. People began to talk behind his back and it took more courage than he exhibited during past battles, to confront them and convince them not to leave their cause. When Isabella found out, she was appalled at the men’s behavior and that her husband had formed a compromise with them. It is said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who felt she and her husband had been humiliated by a bunch of rowdy, drunk-with-rage soldiers. She refused to hear any of Ferdinand’s excuses. When the two were reunited, they convened a meeting but it had to be postponed because nobody wanted to confront their angry queen. The next day, she was still angry and chastised every one of them saying something akin to what our most-hated-and-loved queen on game of thrones told her hubby in season 1, “maybe I should wear the mail and you the skirts” and what her granddaughter Mary I’s successor, Elizabeth I, said to her troops at Tilbury, “I know I have the body of a weak and frail woman … but I have the heart and stomach of a king.”
Eventually, Isabella calmed down and learned to accept her strengths and weaknesses, and focus on what was important and that was winning war. She was good where charisma was concerned. Both of them were, but Ferdinand was a better at strategy, so she decided to leave the military planning to him. (Something Cersei will never come to terms with because she will never learn to curve that pride; if she does, it will be at the expense of something drastic -far more drastic than losing her three kids and having Jaime abandoning her.)   *The last time Spain had been united had been with the marriage of Urraca of Castile and Leon and Alfonso of Aragon and Navarre but that union did not last after she died
