Candy - Happy Wife Happy Life (S01E02)
First & second shots: What should be a happy, celebratory moment actually feels miserable and lonely. The dark space, ugly yellow, empty space (exaggerated by the use of a wide lense) and the underwhelming sign create a huge contrast with what's happening story wise. You can truly feel how miserable and lonely life felt for Betty.
Third shot: I love the blocking in this shot. Betty's surrounded by people, however, she's lonely and feels completely ignored by both her family and the women she wants to befriend. She's contemplating approaching said women but feels small and vulnerable.
Fourth shot: A frame within a frame so we can keep the focus on Betty, as always, lonely and emotionally dependent on her husband. She's completely isolated from her kids and everyone else in the town. A depressed and overwhelmed woman with absolutely no support, not even from the man she's trying to talk to.
Fifth shot: I absolutely love the lighting in this scene. It's colorful and fun, the exact opposite of Betty's life. Candy also feels trapped in her own marriage, but here, she's learning about a world full of possibilities and the fun she's so desperate for. Just like with Betty, the lense used here allows us to see lots of space around her. However, the composition is different. She's not isolated and in a corner, like Betty's usually seen (or even Candy herself, while she's at home). The lines and contrast between the red and green here make Candy and her friends the center of attention.

Well, it took a while, and it’s not the way we expected, but the story will finally…

✨🌌Ahsoka ep 6 thoughts🌌✨
This ep was directed by Jennifer Getzinger. She did an amazing job❤️
Super hyperspace is gorgeous 😍
So Ahsoka knows Sabine handed the map over to Baylan and she seems real frustrated I get it. But considering what Sabine has gone through, she shouldn't blame her for wanting to see Ezra again. 🥺
Huyang got stories from the past. He needs to tell me some.
"In a galaxy far far away" He said it!🤯
I can't believe really traveling to another galaxy right now. This is nuts!
Meanwhile, Poor Sabine.
It's a Purgill Graveyard! So this is where Purgill comes to die. You can see their bones just floating.💀
According Morgan, her ancestors rode Purgill 🌌
What an interesting planet and it already had temple.
Live action Nightsisters!? I was NOT expecting this! This show continues to surprise me! 🤯
Sabine reeks of Jedi? I'm curious what they mean by that. Like can they sense she has light-side force sensitivity? Or was it because she was around Ahsoka? Because they don't seem to have a problem with Shin and Baylan, since they use the dark side of the force.🤔
Sabine thrown into in a cell and tries to use the force again only for Starcruiser to arrive! It's THRAWN!
And look those Stormtroopers man. That design is ✨GOLDEN✨ Thats Thrawn for Ya.
Thrawn looks menacing and is softspoken as ever 💙❤️
Looks like Thrawn has been doing homework on Baylan. Read him like a book! 🤣
Sabine and Thrawn are face to face! It's heating up! Ezra is not dead, damn it!🔥
Ngl, I was scared Ezra may have been that stormtrooper with the cool mask.🤡 Forgot his name
Sabine is given a...bat horse thing. It's cute!❤️
"Die Well" Well Damn...
And she off! But of course, there's always a catch. 🤦🏾‍♀️
Sabine took care of those bandits with the Lightsaber 🔥
Sabine, don't be mean to your bat horse! He came back and that all it matters! Let him come with you! ❤️
Ngl, this bat horse reminds of Sven from Frozen🦌
That's no rock! That's a rock turtle guy in a suite! And he's cute!
He has a rebel symbol, Ezra must have gave it too him🔥
Meanwhile, Baylan and Shin gets sent out for Ezra and Sabine. No surprise there. But Morgan suggests to send out troopers with them but Thrawn shuts that crap down quick. Am I sensing a power struggle? 👀
And it look like Thawn doesn't care what happened to them. He just wants to get the hell out🥶
Ahsoka is on her way!
Baylan and Shin having a talk and man, I really love these two characters. 🤧
These turtle guys remind me of those rocks guys from Frozen as well.🤣 But they also remind me of Ewoks from the OG trillage
I wonder if Ezra taught them to build this stuff at their village
"I knew I can count on you." HOLY CRAP! That made my heart guys!
Ezra looks great! He's grown so much! 🤧
The resuion we all been waiting for! *hugs* ❤️
Sabine is just glad she's found while Ezra just has many questions!
Looks like Ezra has been living with these guys for bit.🥲
"I can't wait to go home." Yes Ezra, well be going home hopefully soon ❤️🤧
God, this ep was amazing! I love! I love it! I love it! ❤️ And I Reble fans had an amazing time with this ep. Can't believe we're already down to two ep already? Ah, time flies. Thanks for reading fokes, see y'all next week.

Ahsoka leaks compilation
Previous posts: TBOBF post-series | Kenobi (pre-trailer, post-series) | Andor (pre-series, post) | Mando S3 (pre-season, pre-finale, post)
Cast
There is another young actor playing Ahsoka (MSW). Very questioable sources (Nerdgasm) said she's played by Savannah Steyn.
Hayden Christensen (THR).
Darth Vader team (MSW, Bespin Bulletin), voiced by James Earl Jones AI. Fully suited Darth Vader will exclusively be played by Tom O’Connel. Tom O’Connel is being fitted for a new Darth Vader suit (different than the one used for Obi-Wan Kenobi last year). MSW
Ezra played by Eman Esfandi (Jordan Maison, THR). There were false reports of him being Mena Massoud.
"Riz" codename (The Illuminerdi) - a man in his 20s, described as a bit of a lone wolf, world-wise despite his young age and able to handle anything life throws his way. This character is listed as a series regular with options. [Most likely Ezra]
Sabine played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Deadline). There were false reports about frontrunners.
Hera (MSW), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (THR), Hera played by MEW (Bespin Bulletin)
Ivanna Sakhno (Deadline) plays Shin. According to The Illuminerdi, the character is codenamed “Astrid”, and is described as striking and ferocious. A formidable mercenary who must now decide between two paths. Astrid can either follow the path of her unit or take hold of her own aspiration in service of her own glory.
Ray Stevenson plays Baylan, previously thought as "Admiral" (THR). Loyal to Thrawn. He has a droid and an assassin by his side. Has a lot of screentime. (MSW)
Thrawn played by Lars Mikkelsen (guesses, KRT, Christopher Marc, MSW). There were contradicting reports by Jordan Maison.
Commander Rex (Christopher Marc) played by Temuera Morrison (BSL)
Captain Enoch (MSW) played by Wes Chatham (Deadline), Thrawn's bodyguard [Note: the article doesn't say he's Enoch, but it's hidden in the metadata of the article, viewable in view page source]
A new cyborg/droid character named Carnast who serves Thrawn and Baylan. Might be a Dark Trooper. (MSW)
Morgan Elsbeth (MSW)

David Tennant is back (reddit user PlayThenPause) as Hyuang

All epsiodes were written by Dave Filoni.
Directors: Dave Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey (first reported by THR), Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel (first reported by MSW) and Rick Famuyiwa.

Databank entries & officially released photos
Marrok (Inquisitor): Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt.
Shin Hati: The eager apprentice of Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati is adept at lightsaber combat, a skill she uses in their work as mercenaries allied to Morgan Elsbeth, the former Magistrate of Calodan.
[Note: The Illuminerdi said Ivanna plays "Astrid" - "A formidable mercenary who must now decide between two paths. Astrid can either follow the path of her unit or take hold of her own aspiration in service of her own glory". This implies Shin will have to decide between following Baylan or betraying him].
Baylan Skoll: Baylan Skoll is lightsaber-wielding mercenary for hire overseeing his apprentice Shin Hati. But make no mistake: although there was a time when Skoll knew the acclaimed Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, Baylan is no Jedi. Now allied to Morgan Elsbeth, the former Magistrate of Calodan, after the fall of the Jedi and the Empire, Skoll remains a shrewd fighter in search of power who believes that another war is inevitable.
Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth: The coldhearted former Magistrate of Calodan, Morgan Elsbeth is an ally of Grand Admiral Thrawn and an enemy of the New Republic. A formidable fighter with a mysterious past, Elsbeth once hunted Ahsoka Tano on the world of Corvus before she was bested in battle and arrested for acting as an Imperial sympathizer.
Officially released 10 photos and their source episode - link. Sabine has short hair in episode 2.
Officially released concept art
Plot
Structure (MSW)
Ahsoka will have a midseason time-jump. The Rebels epilogue takes place in the middle of the season, and the season is like 2 different parts (four episodes each).
The first part of Ahsoka has New Republic centric-content which will feature Mothma. The first half of Ahsoka is a story about a failing New Republic, Ahsoka's warnings are ignored, and about Sabine.
The second part is finding Ezra and Thrawn. (MSW)
The "New Beyond" & Skeleton Crew
The Ahsoka show is gonna introduce concepts that are gonna be explored in Skeleton Crew. (MSW)
After Rebels, Thrawn and Ezra end up in a completely new and unexplored area of the universe, of which he calls ''The New Beyond” or “New Space'' until an official name is revealed. This region views and uses the Force differently, and magic users in the Star Wars universe we have seen before (like the nightsisters), originate from this place, and we have seen outcasts from there in past SW stories. (MSW)
Both Ivanna Sakhno and Diana Lee Inosanto's (Morgan Elsbeth) characters have a connection to this place. (MSW)
Skeleton Crew kids end up in this unexplored part of space too. (MSW)
World Between Worlds, Vader battle & different Ahsokas
The World Between Worlds is in Ahsoka too. (MSW)
We will get glimpses of Tano in other times and eras via The World Between Worlds. There is a version of Ahsoka in her late teens, one for another undisclosed time (might be present day Ahsoka in terms of the narrative itself), and finally for the version we saw in the final moment of Rebels in her white robes. (MSW)
Ahsoka will fight “Darth Vader” (Vader being dark side Anakin, not necessarily in the Vader suit) in more than one way and Hayden Christensen required some training for a sequence in the series because we will see his face again on screen, wearing the same costume he wore on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. (MSW)
We will see many possible outcomes for Ahsoka’s life and how in essence, no matter what, they all lead to a particular moment in her story. If Ahsoka had returned to the Jedi Order, she would be the one fighting Darth Vader on Mustafar having the high ground, not Obi-Wan Kenobi, because what happened had to happen, to get Tano to where she and the Skywalkers needed to be. Hayden Christensen filmed fight scenes with Clone Wars Ahsoka in this scenario. (MSW)
Through the World Between Worlds, it seems present day Ahsoka will learn that Anakin Skywalker was destined to take the path he did and we the audience will see aspects of those outcomes and in some of them we see live action Clone Wars era Ahsoka Tano played by a new actor in a duel with her former Jedi Master, taking the place of Obi-Wan Kenobi in this reality that never was. To be clear, these are glimpses or small sequences and Dawson will play Ahsoka during the majority of the story. (MSW)
Ahsoka will also see other visions in these sequences. Had Ahsoka killed Thrawn and Ezra Bridger did not need to use the Purrgil, Ahsoka’s destiny remained the same. The lesson for Tano appears to be that she cannot change her destiny and instead she must embrace it. (MSW)
There was an Obi-Wan corpse made. (MSW)
Ezra & Sabine
Ezra and Sabine have action scenes together (MSW).
MSW heard about a sequence in Ahsoka where Ezra uses the Force in a way compared to Luke Skywalker shattering the Beehive Hut on Ahch-To when he catches Rey talking with Kylo. However, the difference is one source saying and others confirming Ezra “hadoukens” with the Force. (MSW)
Sabine Wren uses Ezra's lightsaber. There are sequences with Sabine using the lightsaber with Ezra Bridger. It is not clear if Ezra gets another laser sword at some point or just finally takes his lightsaber back from her but she’s usually using it. (MSW)
Ezra developed his own martial arts based Force powers, not unlike Teras Kasi, but his own style. This martial arts style coupled with his connection to animals makes him an interesting take on a Force user on screen as he uses his hands, feet, the Force and nature to beat up undead Stormtroopers. (MSW)
Most of the scenes: Ezra doing Force Karate while Sabine swings the lightsaber around (MSW)
This series has more lightsaber fighting than probably anything we have seen on Disney+ (MSW)
We will have sequences where Baylon, Shin, have red sabers, Morgan Elsbeth and the witches standing off against Ahsoka with her two white lightsabers, Sabine with the green saber, and Ezra doing Force karate. (MSW)
Sabine will duel Shin with her red rapier laser sword while Ashoka Tano will fight Baylon’s red claymore lightsaber. The duel happens concurrently while Ezra fights Stromtroopers with his force Karate in the Nodian Highlands.
Thrawn and his minions
Will have an army “resurrected by dark side shadow magicks.” (MSW)
Zabrak troopers in white and burgundy uniforms (Christopher Marc)
Thrawn’s command ship, Chimera, is in the series. (MSW)
A survivor of Order 66, a Jedi named Babylon, fled to this unknown region of the galaxy for safety. Sources think Babylon wanted to maintain the Jedi way but was corrupted over time, maybe from the influence of life with the Nightsisters. (MSW)
"Nightsister" Morgan Elsbeth has a plan that the New Republic cannot respond to. "Nightsister" Morgan Elsbeh is searching for Thrawn, like Sabine and Ahsoka for Ezra. (MSW)
Elsbeth was extracting resources from the planet to build a ship capable of bringing Grand Admiral Thrawn back to the core worlds (ship or TIE fighters - some project to bring back Thrawn)
Baylon and Shin are in the core worlds initially and allied with Elsbeth. They are in both parts of the series. Baylon is dedicated to the mission to extract Thrawn and bring him home.
Thrawn has a new bodyguard named Enoch - MSW says looks like a "golden Destro from G.I. Joe with Samurai influences". They also have a new cyborg/droid character named Carnast.
Ahsoka and Sabine follow the Nightsister and her allies to Thrawn
A large fight will take place in a location that could be called "The Nodian Highlands." (MSW)
Kintsugi (MSW)
*In Episode IX, Kylo Ren visits an ape named Albrekh who fixes his armor (also an old MSW scroop). The mask is repaired using “Sarrassian iron.” The red iron is used to weld the red cracks of his armor together giving it that red veiny aesthetic.
*Ahsoka will riff on this aesthetic. Most of the Stormtroopers have been destroyed, their armor obliterated, much like Kylo’s helmet. However, instead of the red veins running through the rebuilt armor, these troopers have what has been described as “golden cracks” or “yellow veins” running through their exterior.
*The visual used in Episode IX is based on Kintsugi, a Japanese art which translates to “golden joinery.” Broken valuables use gold or silver to mend and join the broken pieces of antique or art. The process sees the breaks as part of the history of the object.
*MSW doubts it's “Sarrassian” as these troopers were “reforged” by The Nightsisters. MSW says: "In The Clone Wars, the Nightsisters of Dathomir had a green magic, but these are different Nightsisters from a new place and perhaps their magic is golden instead of green to match the Kintsugi look?"
*These troopers will be on the hunt, serving Thrawn, under the command of Baylon, but led into battle by the red sabered user named Shin. They will be tracking the reunited Ezra, Sabine, and Ahsoka.
*When the trio is finally reunited, they will face off against this new take on the Imperial Stormtrooper.
*Visually it will be a new evil Force user (Shin), red saber ignited and an armor with a battalion of reforged Stormtroopers with golden veins through their armor. Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra fleeing from them before being forced to fight.
The ending (MSW)
Ahsoka is basically The Empire Strikes Back of the “Mando Era”. The good guys fail in the end.
Ahsoka and Sabine inherit a secondary mission to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn and his cronies from returning to the core of the galaxy.
Thrawn returns to the main galaxy at the climax of the 8th and final episode of the season, with his forces all laid out before him. Thrawn revels in the moment, promising a reckoning is coming and ready to take on a faltering New Republic and take back the galaxy.
Most likely, the allies who sprung him from the far reaches of space have been a part of a power play he has had cooking for years.
The general consensus from those working on the show is that Ahsoka will have multiple seasons.
The story/cliffhanger will likely pick up in the second season of the series.
Looking at the grand scheme of things and the information MSW has been given, it’s likely that this attack/war is what will really allow the first order to rise.
Misc
Temple Ruins set photos (Bespin Bulletin)
MSW said that a woman seemed to want to be let in to what in the photo. He thinks the woman might have been Ahsoka, but he's not sure.
Ahsoka with white cloak will ride a loth-wolf (horse) nicknamed DOOM (MSW)
Ahsoka episode 1 is 54 minutes and 21 seconds long (credits at 51:06). Episode 2 is 42 minutes and 15 seconds long (credits at 38:33) (Cryptic HD)
---
Rosario's favorite episode is 5, Natasha's 1, Ivanna's 6.

Star Wars Ahsoka: "Far, Far Away" - Review
Tumblr media
Ahsoka hits new heights in a chapter that leans hard into a space fantasy set up that's intriguing, charming, haunting, and delightful.
Grand Admiral Thrawn's allies arrive on the mysterious world of Peridea, a galactic planet of rolling plains, Purgill graveyards, and controlled by a trio of Nightsister witches. There Sabine Wren begins the next step in her voyage to find Ezra Bridger while Thrawn readies himself for his apocalyptic return to the known galaxy.
Star Wars has always been an epic fantasy dressed up in sci-fi aesthetics. Sure, we occasionally get something like Andor that take a more detailed and logical approach to the Galaxy Far, Far Away, but some of the franchise's best stories, including many written by showrunner Dave Filoni, have leaned hard into the magical/supernatural elements of the galaxy. In Ahsoka's sixth chapter, we take a wonderful leap into that fantastical side of Star Wars and the series is made all the better for it.
Ever since its premiere, Ahsoka has been treading a fine line between continuing the stories of previous franchise narratives and finding an identity of its own. While the series struggled dramatically in its opening chapters, Dave Filoni's first big live action saga has slowly started to right itself. In a way, the set up of "Far, Far Away" offers the series a bit of a restart. Thrawn's allies and Sabine are slingshot into a brand new galaxy and for the first time most of our cast is on as unfamiliar footing as the rest of us.
It also gives Filoni the chance to tell some fundamentally new stories with Ahsoka. Sure, we are still playing with the legacy of Rebels, in an even bigger way this week, but the sheer amount of creative and inspired storytelling and design choices this week more than make up for that. In fact, they make the callbacks work even more than ever.
It helps to some degree that the focal points of "Far, Far Away" are a bit more limited than in past episodes. We may spend the cold open with Ahsoka and Huyang swapping stories in the belly of a space whale, but the rest of the episode takes place entirely on the new world of Peridea with only its residents and new arrivals. This is a story that's fundamentally about Sabine Wren getting what she wants and glimpsing the consequences of her actions, while Thrawn and his allies spin their own tangled webs.
Yes, Thrawn finally makes his live action debut this week and is played once again by the marvelously talented Lars Mikkelson. The Grand Admiral has been spent years as a whispered about menace in the Mandoverse and his teasing often felt so prolonged that his inevitable arrival ran the risk of not living up to the foreboding name drops that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have doling out since 2020. We shouldn't have doubted. Riding in on the skeletal husk of his famous Star Destroyer, Grand Admiral Thrawn enters amid a cacophony of clashing organs and haunting chants. He surrounds himself with Stormtroopers whose armor feels cracked and welded together after years of hard survival. His forces are lead by an unsettling gold masked commander named, Enoch. Even if Lars Mikkelson doesn't quite carry the same level of physical intimidation that Thrawn's animated counterpart did, the presentation of those around him is enough to sell him as a threat to be reckoned with. Also, Mikkelson knocks it out of the park as usual. Mikkelson's Thrawn speaks with quiet politeness and formality but is also capable of delivering orders of calculated violence and cruelty. He's a well-dressed terror and immediately steals any scene he's a part of.
Even if the circumstances of his exile may be hard to track for new viewers, Filoni and episodic director Jennifer Getzinger are able to catch the audience up to speed with sharp scripting and direction. The same can be said of the handling of Sabine's story and her search for and eventual reunion with Ezra Bridger. With the threat of Thrawn established, the consequences of Sabine's decision feel all the more real. We understand that she has risked something truly awful for the chance to be with her friend, one of the few people she feels connected to in this galaxy anymore. And sure, Ahsoka may have not made the case for why Ezra is so important prior to this episode but "Far, Far Away" more than makes up for this deficit.
A lot of the heart in Sabine's journey come from Filoni's willingness to play to some of the more cute and playful aspects of the saga. When Thrawn lets Sabine free to search for her friend (or kind of, more on that later), he provides her with a hyena like mount called a "Howler." Behaving like a mix of a horse, dog, and bird, this creature is a wonderful effect that's not only lovingly and convincingly realized on screen but provides a fun little mini-arc for Sabine. I mean, tell me you weren't rooting for this former Mandalorian and her weird space dog to become friends? It shows us a different, lighter side to a character that to this point has been mostly defined by her brooding and loneliness.
The Howler isn't the only new creature that's sure to steal the hearts of Star Wars fans. We also have the hermit crab like Noti who have befriended Ezra Bridger. The Noti play like humbler, more skittish Ewoks and they won me over instantly. They also provide an essential narrative beat in contextualizing Ezra Bridger to the audience. We can see that these friendly but skittish beings have welcomed Ezra into their own and even been inspired by his story as they wear the symbol of the rebellion in hand fashioned medallions around their necks. It speaks a lot to his character and personality just through visual storytelling and it works wonders.
Also, can we talk about how perfect Eman Esfandi is as live action Ezra? It's impressive just how easily Esfandi is able to capture the playful warmth and humor of the character in just a few minutes of screentime. It's a pitch perfect pairing and I never once doubted that I was looking at a man who used to be a boy I knew from a cartoon.
And the long awaited reunion between Ezra and Sabine? Perfect. Esfandi and Natasha Liu Bordizzo have instant platonic chemistry with one another and their interactions feel both joyful and sad. There's also the dark irony hanging over it all. Sabine in her quest to see her friend has effectively undone everything he sacrificed all those years ago. We can tell that she knows that this happiness can't last forever and sooner or later her surrogate brother will learn the truth, but for the moment she just wants to bask in the feeling of seeing his face again. It's a phenomenal sequence and maybe one of the most human moments we've gotten from any of the Mandoverse shows.
Thankfully, despite how much time "Far, Far Away" spends with the legacy of another series, Ahsoka doesn't forget its own new characters. Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati remain fascinating wildcards and here we finally get to learn a bit more about what is motivating this sullen former Jedi. Baylan's entire world ended when the Order fell. Since then he's seen Empire's rise and fall and has begun to see multiple factions make the same mistakes once again. He sees a galaxy stuck in a destructive loop and believes there is something Peridea's wasteland that might bring permanent change to the galaxy. Whether this is all a delusion in Baylan's head is unknown but it's fascinating to see how his own trauma at the end of the Order has shaped him into what he is now. He's a great philosophical foil for Ahsoka and I'm eager to see the two come to blows once more.
Also, Shin Hati is finally starting to define herself outside of Baylan's feral second in command. While I think any hint of romantic or sexual chemistry might be wishful thinking on my and many other queer fans' part, Shin does seem to be developing a greater sense of sympathy for Sabine. In particular, she seems distrustful of the larger scheme that Baylan has gotten the two of them involved in and almost even offended that her master would go back on his word in letting Sabine live and go through with Thrawn's orders to have her and Bridger executed. I'm not saying that there is redemption coming in the near future for Shin, but her loyalties may prove more complicated than we assume when all of the cards are laid down on the table.
Visually, "Far, Far Away" is a stunner. Not only is it the most confidently directed of any of the episodes of Ahsoka aired so far, but the production design of Peridea is incredible. The seemingly endless rolling hills hide masked bandits clad in rusted samurai-esque armor. Haunting statues of witches tower over the landscape. In the atmosphere the skeletons of Purgill float by like some celestial graveyard. It's the most inventive we've seen this corner of the Star Wars galaxy be in quite sometime and the end result feels like a mix of an 80s fantasy film like Willow or the Never Ending Story with a Kurosawa samurai epic.
"Far, Far Away" is a standout hour of television that manages to further Ahsoka's story and reward long time fans in equal measure. Only two episodes left! Let's keep this going.
