Some musicians' cover songs reveal a plan for their careers as they decided to present some interesting tunes with their own versions of them. I agree, Laura Branigan probably didn't intend to do her own variants of so many compositions, yet her entire opus ended up being full of them. One of her biggest hits is this, well, ballad, I guess? I am not really sure how to see this tune, though I have the same problem with the original. They are both somehow an expression of the urban paranoia one can feel during the nights. However, we are never sure, on whether or not either Raf or Laura Branigan embrace this. While the entire piece remains an enigma we cannot answer for sure, Branigan infuses her edition with a certain determination Raf is afraid to show for … reasons?

Joyce and Nancy holding hands during the function, Karen holding Nancy while she cries in bed after the funeral... Mike sitting in Will's room in silence while he's on the bed, not knowing how to comfort him... Will shutting down emotionally this time instead of crying and becoming a bit cold while processing the grief... Hopper supporting Joyce through the loss of her child because he knows how it feels... Was this really necessary?

A lot of fans complained about s4 being too overpacked with unnecessary filler. But I would argue that almost everything was important (yes even the Russia scenes, but that’s another conversation for another day).

Especially when it comes to scenes you thought had no significance at all, it’s entirely possible, and even likely those kinds of scenes hold the most meaning beyond what is presented on the surface.

If you ever found yourself thinking certain wording came off almost hokey or out of place at times, it’s bc they were probably trying to find a creative way to hint at something deeper, completely separate from the moment in the present, and believably, so that fans can overlook it at the time temporarily, only to eventually look back in the future when all is revealed and go holy shit nvm it was right in front of us.

And in scenes that we called pointless filler…

It’s actually genius.

You get people to underestimate you, only for it to be revealed that you gave them all the answers right in front of them. Unfortunately fans were too busy complaining it was pointless to notice.

This sequence in particular comes to mind:

Mind you, this isn’t the first time cow imagery has followed Joyce around. I’ve been focusing on the owl/deer imagery lately. But during that time I was reminded of a few notable cow decor items throughout the Byers and when Joyce is in the frame… Combine that with the pregnant belly comment, combined with the brother and sister watching Joyce, combined with the scene that was directly before this of Will and El as she cries over her Hopper diorama with the song Crib playing…

Lab kid Robin who was thought to be dead by the lab at age 15 during an experiment gone wrong and was "discarded" and then found by the russians. They couldn't quite make their own supernatural kids but they might as well "recycle" this one. They had to compete with the other american kid somehow.

So they kinda brainwash her and send her to the school so she can get closer to the gang and try to kill El.

Accidentally getting adopted by Joyce Byers was not part of the plan but she's not complaining.

Post canon: since hunting is Obviously out (for Multiple reasons), I imagine the Dad Trips Hopper takes with El, Will, and Jonathan are fishing trips.

Will and Jon are pretty terrible at it, but El catches on quick and it becomes her and Hop’s favorite Dad-Daughter trip. And she gets one of those funny hats so she doesn’t get sunburned:

Sometimes I think about a no Upside Down au where Will genuinely is found dead in the quarry but Joyce still believes that it's a conspiracy and her boy is out there somewhere because her little boy can't be dead, he can't be. And Jon has to watch his mother slowly spiral and she isn't listening and it's heartbreaking and he can't do anything but plan his little brothers funeral alone.

This still haunts me, it could be just an editing mistake, but there's a ''dead'' filter on the flowers and the shots are as follows

at first we see El in the space where the flowers are dying, but she doesn't have the filter on her obviously

then we have Byler being in the space where the flowers are ok, and they don't have the filter

and after we have Jancy and there is clearly part of the ''dead'' flowers filter on them in the lower part, it makes them look dead

Jopper doesn't have it, but Joyce is very pale...

but all of them are where the flowers should be still alive...
