What books do you think everyone should read?
Have you ever considered that octopi may be the best huggers?
What's the best sound? (Personally I say windchimes)
What is the best thing to dip pizza in?
Is Bigfoot was real, he might be, would he be hot?
Tumblr media
-
Ngl I have not thought of that before 👀 I could see them being the best huggers……. Or just very slimy and slippery 😂
-
Oooo windchimes are so so lovely 🥰🥰🥰
In my opinion the best sound is a cappella music. Or even just choir music. Where different voice types come together and create beautiful harmonies 😍💖
-
I don’t typically dip my pizza in anything tbh
-
I meeeaaaaannnn I could see it 👀👀
I’m into tall and hairy people 🫣🤭
#I’m pretty sure I’ve already expressed my love for the book dealing with dragons but it’s my all time favorite book#I’ve read it probably at least 10+ times#and I don’t read that much (anymore) so it’s saying something I’ve reread a few times lol#I love reading don’t get me wrong.. I just don’t have the attention span to read - every single time I try I always fall asleep#I’m going to get tested sometime soon to figure out why I’m so fucking tired all the time#but no matter what position I’m in if im reading or watching something or doing anything for a decent amount of time I always fall asleep#it’s impossible for me to watch movies unless im smoking or doing something with my hands like coloring or crafting of some king#anyway mini rant over#I just wanted to show you guys how important this book is to me#since ya know it’s so hard for me to read#when I was little and growing up my sister would read to me and she would read this book and then when I got older I borrowed it from her#and would read it all the time#ngl I’ve read the second book in the series but I’m not sure if I’ve read the 3rd and 4th#I really really want to sometime soon though#my sister has them somewhere fuck I should have borrowed them before they moved cause now who knows where the books went lol#ok sorry getting distracted#i LOVE dealing with dragons and the whole universe#I do love me some windchimes 🥰🥰🥰 I’ve always wanted to make my own one day 💖#but I’m kinda biased to a capella music and choir music - just growing up in choirs I can’t express how much joy that gives me#just hearing different voices being blended together to make one loud melody#and then different parts come in / the bass starts and then it leads into tenors and altos and finally sopranos UGH SO GOOD#not the best at explaining it right now I’m sorry haha#tbh I’m very basic and picky with my food lol I usually just have cheese pizza 😂#hey Bigfoot if you’re out there…………..#you single 👀👀👀👀#asking for a friend hehe#thanks for the questions lovely!#ask#ask me shit

Cadence
Pairing(s): Saiki Kusuo X Gender Neutral! Reader | Onesided! Saiki Kusuo X Teruhashi Kokomi
Summary: When Kusuo feels, he feels with all of himself. It bleeds into everything, from exasperation to pining. Two things that came to him this special afternoon... The afternoon he’d told his mother he’d confess to his crush.
Warning(s): Unrequited Love. Slight Angst.
A/N: I'M SORRY KOKOMI... This is a fandom I haven't written for in a while! I know some people probably don't like her that much?? But it came to me. Think of it like Conan Gray's "Heather", just that Heather isn't the one our love interest has affections for. Oh - the reader is a musician here!! This is longer than usual.
(P.S. The last line of it probably doesn't make sense unless you've watched the Saiki K dub.)
“bolded italics” is Saiki speaking via telepathy, “italics” are thoughts.
Tumblr media
“Amorous feelings were something hard to harbor.
Especially if they're directed towards someone that feels unreachable.
Like no matter how far you stretch, you can never reach them.
With heart in hand, ready to give.
Though the seeds of concern at possible rejection, the sting of heartbreak is painful. As is losing the receiver if your relationship predates the confession, if they were close already.
Unshakeable worry.
Even for someone like the invincible Saiki Kusuo.
Settled in his slightly uncomfortable desk, head resting on his palm. His gaze settled on the rolling clouds, thoughts filtering in and out of his head. Half-lidded violets sleepily dreaming of drizzling rain, of huddling close under an umbrella. Spending time under dreary skies with the one to brighten it all.”
"Well her thoughts aren't exactly far off."
A chill washed over his skin, his cryokinesis calming the blood about to rush to his cheeks.
Teruhashi's gaze felt heavy on his back, her commentary matching his recent feelings word for word. Sweeping strands of blue over her shoulder, she discreetly watched him from the corners of her eyes under a veil of lashes.
"Of course, the thoughts of a boy are always so predictable," She nearly giggled "especially when they're in love with someone like me."
His face dropped into a deadpan.
"She's way off though... I feel kind of bad honestly."
Kusuo shook his head, brow furrowing as he slid his gaze down to his desk.
Or rather, what was sitting in it.
"My mom told me not to be ashamed or feel guilty for not reciprocating someone elses' feelings." He breaths in, sliding his ring into his finger.
"Especially when I'm not responsible for them."
The tone of the bell filled the airways, signaling dismissal for students - voices of relief and rejoice. A long school day dragging to a close, its occupants reader to leave and relish in the weekend.
But there was a mission Saiki was on.
One that would have him stay after school as opposed to his want to escape the clutches of his friends.
Most of which were aware of his plans.
He left before he even questioned or asked about plans, skillfully dodging the flow of the crowd. Of course, with the ring, it makes it the slightest bit harder to discern the best route to move through them. But it wasn't a problem for him despite the handicap on one of the more useful powers he has.
The lack of knowledge of those around him in that moment was a little nerve racking(though not any less when it came to matters of the heart), though his general instincts were aware about those on his tail.
He paid it no mind.
He was on a mission.
The light taps of his shoes stopped right at the door, squeaking lightly on the linoleum. Fingers running along the edges of his already immaculate blazer, he slid it open and peered inside.
Notes of music thrummed from within, melody flowing into harmony soothingly.
"Oh, Saiki - san."
The club's president was first to notice him, having been near the door.
Gesturing him inside and quietly pestering him again with a mumble, "I don't mind you coming here but have you reconsidered join -"
"My answer is still no."
This time, Saiki doesn't wait to hear the boy's thoughts even if he could. Instead shifting his attention to the reason he even came to the music room.
Basking under the glow of the window, swaying just slightly with a serene calm. In rhythm with the mellowing sounds of music blending together, he feels his heartbeat sync with it. Then skipping for one or two as he slowly walked across the room, careful to not disturb the other practicing musicians. Though their eyes were also taken.
Fingers skimming over strings, its noise vibrating throughout the guitar as chords shifted and moved.
It didn't stop as the fingers' owner, you, smiled at him. Soft and easy going, silently acknowledging his presence before going straight back to playing.
He didn't mind, no, not at all.
Instead, he set himself down at your side.
He could wait.
It was you after all.
Tumblr media
As the arrangement ended, notes left ringing out to leave his head and body with a nice break. No thoughts flooding and bashing at the insides of his skull, no need to strain himself or his powers.
The light round of applause was also not as jarring as loud cheers or things of the sort.
It was one of the reasons he'd come to this club, enough for the President to ask him if he'd like to join due to their frequency.
"Came about as early as I did this time."
Stashing the guitar in a case and stretching aching fingers, you smiled again at him. Shimmering gaze and soft features accented by filled windows, his heart fluttered gently from it's place. Thudding against his sternum like a drum.
Fitting.
But the music was only one of the reasons he visited so often.
"What, excited to see me, Saiki - kun?" You jested, his breath hitching just slightly at that.
He contemplates the question. The stares on him burn a little, with a short glance at the door, he can see the pair that took the risk in following him. There was no way to stop them anyhow...
Yumehara was a horrible gossip monger - and Teruhashi?
... He knew of her crush on him.
There is something in his chest that moves along with the speeding of his pulse.
Vindication?
Satisfaction?
How petty of him...
As he shifted his rose tinted gaze back to you, he can't really find it in himself to care.
"What a pain." He thought, quite derisively.
Removing the ring, he gorged himself on the sweetened sight of your sleepy eyes and smile - full of cheek.
It's pleasant.
Seeing you was just what he needed - his racing heart petering to a mellowing flicker. A warmth washing through his veins, breathing and thriving in your scent and calming presence.
This is a nice feeling.
Having a crush like this.
Being surrounded and swaddled in the fuzzy feelings of pining hit him a couple months back, when he'd first grew privy to the melody playing in your head. Naked truth and honesty, utter genuinity from every pore - matching actions to words.
Hearing and sitting and watching you play... It made him grow endeared to you over the time you'd spent with each other, even if it wasn't long.
"You don't have to answer, I was just joking."
"... But I was excited."
You blink.
He only lifted his hand, pressing the back of it to his mouth in slight abashment. He really isn't good at this.
But he's trying.
With the color tinging the tips of your ears, it seemed to fell through. Making a look, though shy, appear 'pon your face. Now less drowsy.
"I'm glad you came," You admitted, turning away to try and hide the timidness you suddenly felt "always am."
Saiki's stomach did flip flops, hand falling from his now smiling lips.
"Perhaps I would do it a lot more often, that is, if you were interested in filling a position." He is somewhat aware how funny it is for him to be making music jokes, "It's first seat - just for a guitarist."
Fiddling with the collar of your uniform, quietly, you mumbled, "It sounds like... You're trying to ask me out -"
"I am." Kusuo ignored the squeaks he most definitely heard on the other side of the door. "Only if you're interested."
"I am." You parrot, honeyed confession interlacing in softened tone in difference from his. Paired with a expression of such tenderness any ice lingering on him melts away.
"So..." He trailed off.
You laugh a little bit, still somewhat sheepish as a warm color washes your soft cheeks. "My answer is yes, I will happily take that position."
He can't help it.
Your hand is warm as he took it in his own, heating in contact, darkening flush sweeping down your neck in response to the showcase of affection.
“Cute."
Playfully scowling at that, you only huffed.
"Shush you."
He felt the hodge-podge of emotions flooding from behind the door; hurt, anger, disbelief. Guilt pulled at his strained heart strings, knowing full well that just beyond the door was someone vying for his affections.
"She never respected how you felt."
The intrusive thought of his making was snuffed faster than a candle, fingers shifting and locking through the spaces in his.
"Saiki?" You spoke, brows knitting. "You okay?"
His troubles were showing on his face, huh?
It was hard to remain dishonest around you.
"Kusuo... Call me Kusuo."
Surprise filters over the shyness, but you positively titter at your new boyfriend's insistence.
"This means you gotta stop calling me your senpai." The comment leaves butterfly wings fluttering in his belly.
He tested your appellation on his own lips.
Though he was unsatisfied, now rather irritated with your voyeurs despite his previous guilt. Especially at the insulting thoughts he now hears in your name - subject to Kokomi.
It came to him as he moved closer, soaking in the music playing again you both watched someone seat themselves at the piano.
Petty?
Yes.
But they were the ones that decided to follow him in the first place.
So he might was well hit two birds with one stone.
He indulged in the sticky, gooey feelings you'd plagued him with. Pressing his lips to your cheekbone in a display of his devotion, relishing in the gasp of shock he tore from you.
Kusuo squeezed your hand, charoite eyes promising a little mischief.
"Does that mean I can call you my baby doll?"

Okay i’m actually embarrassed of how long it took me to write this but writer’s block hit me like a bunch of bricks this past month, still i’m so sorry!! But anyway here’s around 2.6k of famous!reader for you anon!! Hope you enjoy it!!
Also this is not really proofread cause i wrote it all in one sitting after a boost of inspiration so uh chile anyway so...
One could think that you’d have grown past the nervous set of butterflies that come by before stepping out on stage. They wouldn’t be entirely wrong, you like to think. Sure, there’s still an anxious feeling that bubbles up in the pit of your stomach like the drops of air in a sealed bottle of rosé (much like the one sitting inside a bucket propped on the center table of your dressing room). It’s normal, you tell yourself, part of the process, even. The clammy palms of your hand and the rapid thumping of your heart will soon be replaced by the thrill of stepping in front of a crowd of people, eyes wide, and voices loud. All waiting for you.
When Harry invited you to join him tonight, just for a song, there wasn’t a single ounce in your mind that thought of declining it. After all, you had spent months traveling around with him as his opening act of the American leg on his first tour. It’s not even the first time you’d share the stage with him, having joined him on a live cover of Eternal Flame at the very last date of the tour. His fans are also familiar with you, most of them seem to like you, even (and you don’t bother searching for the ones who don’t, much preferring to preserve your peace of mind). So there’s really not a reason for you to feel as if you’re about to throw up, is there?
Except this time is much different than all the previous ones you had to do this. No one out there is expecting you to step on stage. Much less for a song you’d thought you’d never sing it live.
It started as a forgotten draft you found in one of your old journals, and sometime between Chicago and Vancouver, after long nights and shared bottles of wine together, it turned into a duet. There wasn’t any intention of recording it initially, being born in hushed drunken confession at wee hours in the morning, and shared stories of heartbreak and yearning, you figured it would just stay between the two of you. It was a vulnerable song, after all, one in which both of you poured your heartaches in.
But Harry loved the song. In fact, barely a month after the tour was wrapped up and everyone had tucked themselves back home to a well-deserved break, he invited you for dinner at his and, after one or two margaritas, you were standing on his home studio singing the words you’d written with him on quiet hotel rooms. And it didn’t take much convincing from his part for you to release it months later as part of your first studio album. Harry’s a charming man and he always finds a way to get what he wants. Not to mention the glimmer in his eyes and the set of dimples on his cheeks appearing as he heard the final cut were enough for you to convince you (not that you’d ever say this out loud).
So it’s not hard to understand why you agreed in a heartbeat to sing it with him on the opening night of his tour.
Your leg is bouncing in a nervous tick, and you have to stop yourself from chewing on your bottom lip as to avoid another scolding from Amie who’s just applied a thin layer of lipstick over it. There’s a bundle of voices sweeping around the room, all much familiar to you, as they’re all part of your team. But you can’t help but zone out, pushing the noise to the back of your brain and letting it become faint background noise as you take in a deep breath to ease yourself down.
The concert has started around an hour ago, meaning you have just a few minutes before you have to head to the side of the stage, waiting for Harry to announce your name. He made sure to stop by your dressing room after soundcheck was done, greeting everyone from your team (they’ve all grown fond of him after the last tour, but then again, it’s hard not to) before making his way to you, a grin taking over his face as he approached, arms opening and not wasting a second before pulling you into an embrace. You smile to yourself, recalling his words from earlier.
“How are we feeling?” He pulled away, holding on to your shoulders and you can’t help but focus on the way his thumbs caressed you over the thin fabric of your shirt.
“Uhm like I could pass out at any second, but other than that I’m fine.” You let out a dry laugh as an attempt to mask the truth of your sentence behind humor.
“Nothing to be nervous about, love.” His hands squeezed you gently before dropping down and you chewed on your bottom lip at the warmth left from his touch. “S’just you and me and the guitar.”
“And thirty thousand people.”
“You’ve played for bigger crowds.”
“I know, it’s just…” You sighed, gazing down at the champagne flute in your hands before shrugging. “Never sang something this personal, I guess.”
“Hey, it’s alright.” He moved a strand of your hair from your face, taking a small step forward as his voice droped down slightly so you’re the only one hearing his words.  “Know you’ll be brilliant, there’s nothing to worry about.”
“What if I cry?”
“Nothing wrong in crying, love.” He said in a beat, shaking his head softly. “I’ve shed a fair amount of tears on stage as well, just shows how much it means to you.”
Relaxing your shoulders you didn’t even realize were so tense, you exhaled. “You’re right.”
“I am.” He humored, dimples poking at his cheeks as he bumped his shoulder against yours. His expression softened, “You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to, okay?” He said truthfully, eyes flickering between yours to show you he meant it. “I don’t want you to do something you’re not comfortable with just for my sake.”
“Thanks, H.” You smiles. “But I’m fine, really, just nervous.”
His lips parted to answer you, but before he can do so someone shouted from the doorway, “H, you gotta go to hair and makeup.”
“I’ll be right there.” He called over his shoulder, then turned his attention back to you. “I’ll see you on stage?”
“I’ll be there.”
“Hey,” he says as he started walking backward. “Just you and me alright?”
“Right.” You giggled watching him throw you a wink before turning around and stepping out of the room.
Downing the last bit of champagne on your glass, you rest it on the counter next to you before stepping up from your seat completely. A few pairs of eyes settle on you from the sudden movement, but they quickly turn back to their previous conversations as you don’t meet their gaze, only making your way o the full body mirror that makes the door leading to the bathroom.
Your glittery eyelids call your attention first as you examine yourself, making you blink a few times just to see them shimmer. They match the two-piece that hugs your body in a lavender tone, the same one of the boost you slipped in just a couple minutes ago. You move your hips around softly, watching the way the skirt dances around your thighs and smoothing your hands on it to feel the soft fabric under your fingertips. You have time to adjust the top one last time before someone from production calls your name at the doorway, indicating it’s time to head out.
The whole way goes in a bit of a blur, you adjust your earpiece and try to smile at words of encouragement that are thrown your way as you walk towards the side of the stage where you’re supposed to make your entrance. Your heart thumps in your chest, almost loud enough to swallow the screams of the crowd that gets louder every step you take. Harry comes into view, along with the whole arena as you pass through a double door. His back is turned to you when you come to a stop but you can make out the guitar in his hands, his voice blending with the echo of thousands of others, screaming back at him the words he wrote. It’s Fine Line, one of your favorites from his sophomore album, and you can’t help but mouth along to it as the bridge comes up.
It helps to calm you a bit, the melody along with his voice setting the atmosphere of the whole place to a joyous state. It was clear at the glossy eyes you can catch in the crowd looking back at him, cheering as the song comes to an end, and Harry bows in gratitude and you watch as he steps back in front of the mic stand but doesn’t say anything. For a moment he just stays like that, you can’t catch his face from this angle, but you gaze up at the big screen and, just like you predicted, you can see the admiration on his expression as he takes in the crowd in front of him. You wish you could know his thoughts, but the smile that takes over his lips gives you everything you need to know, and you can’t help but let one tug on your face as well.
Before you know it, he leans into the microphone again, the screams quieting down as he starts speaking again. “I don’t think I’ll ever find enough words to thank you for your support, and sharing such special moments like this with me,” he begins, one hand moving to his chest as he pauses when the crowd roars again. “I love you all very much, and I thought maybe I could bring someone here that also holds a special place in my heart.”
You can feel every cell in your body freeze once you realize he’s talking about you, and it’s only when he turns around, eyes finding yours as he motions for you to walk in that you start moving. Keeping your gaze trained on his, you approach him, the hollering sound becoming almost faint in your ears as you focus solely on Harry. He pushes his guitar to the side so he can give you a quick hug before turning back to his mic.
“So, this lovely lady and I happen to have a song together.”
Your eyes scan the crowd for a moment, catching the awe in people’s faces before finding him again. Bringing your own mic to your lips you speak up, “We do, actually.”
“And we never sang it live before, is that right?”
“You’d be correct, yes.”
“How do we feel about singing it tonight for the first time?” He asks more to the audience than to you, wanting to get a reaction, and as if on cue their screams take over the space at the mention of the song.
“I think they like the idea.” You smile, letting your eyes wander around the arena. Thanks to the bright spotlight set on you, you can’t make out most of their faces, but each one of them still makes themselves present, being with their flashlights turned on or their voices joining in with the others. A familiar electric spark shoots down your spine, the buzz making you forget all the previous nerves that were taking over your mind.
The sound of the strokes on the guitar strings bring your attention back to Harry, and when you look back at him, he’s already watching you, a smirk threatening to poke at his lips as he nods at you. It’s a silent gesture of reassurance, and you’re thankful for it, smiling back at him.
Once the intro is over he steps towards the stand again, his lips brushing the mic but his eyes still glued on you. It’s hard not to feel the chills rise on your skin at the sound of his voice. You’re close enough that if you focus, you can hear him under the reverberance of the loudspeakers. The realization makes your hand come up almost instinctively, removing one earplug so you can listen to him better. He smiles midword at you once he realizes what you’ve done, his eyes closing for a moment as he feels every word that comes out of his mouth.
Joining him for the chorus, you realize how astute he was when suggesting doing an acoustic version. The sound of your voices together slowed down by just the guitar background sounds even more intimate. It’s gentler. Softer. And you can’t help the step that you take towards him, feeling an urge to get closer.
You don’t dare to break eye contact going into your solo, he moves back from his mic just a bit, giving you your moment and nodding along to the words. Unlike you had thought before, you don’t feel a knot forming on your throat or burning in your chest as you proclaim words of an old broken heart. Harry’s face is enough to keep you at ease, his irises seeming so green under the stage light that you can’t help the stuttering of your heart.
He melts his voice on yours again, bringing you back to all the sleepless nights you spent together, singing the same words to one another.
You’ve heard people say about being with someone that makes you feel like you’re the only people in a room, and it’s always made you roll your eyes at the cliche aspect of it. But standing here with Harry, on stage, eyes set on each other as you sing the words straight from your heart, you start to understand where those people were coming from. There are thousands of other eyes set on you, but his are the only ones calling your attention. Everything else seeming unimportant as you find yourself stuck in a trance with him.
The last chorus rolls around and you only register him moving once he’s right in front of you. His guitar is the only barrier between your bodies as he leans into your microphone, and you move it down so it stands under both your lips. He’s close enough that you can feel the warmth of his breath on your cupid bow. You could touch him with the smallest of movements, and you want nothing more than to rest your forehead on his and meet his mouth with yours. But you hold back, closing your eyes as you’re afraid of what the effect of his own can do to you, letting the last words come out in a breath.
The roaring crowd reminds you of the people watching you, and almost as if you’re broken out of a spell, you take a small step back, turning to the audience to give them a wave. You feel Harry’s arm wrapping around your shoulder and pulling you against him. His lips press a single kiss on your hair as you thank everyone with a smile, still taken back by what just happened.
Turning to Harry, you give him one last hug, this time lingering for a beat too long, enjoying the feeling of his arms pressing you closer to him. He pulls away first, announcing your name again, and you spare him another look before waving your way out, with shaky legs and a speeding heart.

Was that Jake there?
Part 2
Fandom: Duskwood
Paaring: Jake x MC
Word counter: 5,3k
Passage:
-"It doesn’t have to be just one night”
"Okay, just kidding please don’t hit me" Phil grins.
You roll your eyes.
"But you noticed when we wrote that I thought you are pretty" he adds.
"Phil.." Actually, you want to tell him that he should stop but you were interrupted.
"I think that were enough jokes for this night" you hear a dark voice behind Phil talking.
Phil scares out and turns around. You were expecting Dan, but that’s definitely not Dan.-
Preface: Hi guys👋🏻 I’m back with a new story. This one takes place after episode 6. Those who know my other stories know that I love it when the mysterious hacker suddenly appears. I don’t think it’s a spoiler, most of us are already done with episode 6.
I hope there are not too many mistakes and you can understand everything. It took all night to translate the German text. It may be that I missed some things but I hope you don’t mind by reading this.  In the text there will be short passages from two songs, I have linked the songs but you don’t have to listen to them. I just wanted to bring the feeling over more. I hope you like it and have fun
-
"Jesssyyyy" you call out loud so she can hear you despite the loud music. Excited, she turns in your direction and you go through it between the other guests to get to Jessy quickly. It’s your first time in Duskwood. In keeping with Jessy’s birthday she celebrates at the city’s most famous club. She extra rented a Vip Lounge for this day.
You landed with the plane two hours ago, and Dan picked you up at the airport.
You brought your luggage to Jessy’s apartment, she gave Dan a key so you could leave your things in her apartment.
Unfortunately, you could not take an earlier flight because your Boss needed your help at work. But in this Moment is isn't important. Now you are finally in Duskwood. Jessy and the rest are already at the club celebrating. Actually, it’s her birthday tomorrow, but she wanted to party in. "MC" calls Jessy back loudly as she sees you between the people. If you hadn’t waved, she would never have seen you. Shortly thereafter, you happily fall into each other’s arms.
"Oh my God, I’m so happy to finally see you, so finally in real and not just about pictures," she murmurs into your ear. "I’m looking forward, too."
"Today we are having a party and forget everything for a few hours okay?" she asks grinning. You nod to her with determination. "It’s my turn to say hello" shouts a male voice.
Richy lifts you up a little bit and turns you both in a circle. Laughing, he lets you stand on the ground again. "THERE IS THE RIDDLE QUEEN YES" he shouts loudly and gossip. You bow and wink at him.
"MC" someone calls your name. This time Cleo’s coming at you. "Hello Cleo" you giggle and hug her too. "Nice that you managed to come" "I am also very happy, I must not miss this" "You should have come much earlier" she looks offended away but grins. "You could have invited me, but you didn’t," you giggle.
"Touché" she laughs.
Shortly thereafter, Thomas greets you. "Today we don’t think about the bad" you demend. "Tonight is ours," he agrees. He holds his hand up and you claps.
Also you and Lilly greet each other. It was weird at the beginning but after a short time it got better.
Since you’ve been standing in the way all the time and everyone has to walk past you, Dan finally pushes you into the sitting area of the lounge.
You recognize Phil right away, but you don’t know the rest of the people. You sit next to Jessy, and right now, Dan will hold you a glass of whiskey. "Whiskey Dan? Are you sure?" you ask. "No, we’re drinking tequila," Jessy blends in and puts a little glass on the table. Two shots of tequila and a glass of whiskey later, you’re suddenly tapped by someone. Your head turns in the direction you think the person is.
Frightened you open your eyes, Phil’s face is not ten centimeters from yours.  "Woah" directly you slide back a bit. You bumping into Jessy. The glass in her hand starts to shake and the drink lands on the floor. Jessi’s face turns in your direction and you look at each oher in surprise. She starts laughing and you join in. Phil looks at you troubled. "Okay, that’s a girl thing," he grins. Another girl calls out to Jessy, she gets up and walks towards the bar. Phil starts talking, but you don’t hear anything through the loud music. "What did you say? I didn’t understand anything," you shouted. The bench of the lounge has a padded backrest. Phil puts his arm on this one just behind your shoulders, leaning down a bit to your ear. "I said we didn’t have time to say hello, you wanted to come to the Aurora" "That’s right, I haven’t made it yet, I’m in Duskwood for the first time today," you murmur. "Then you should come more often from now on" he winks. Nervously you smile at him and try to slip away a bit. You drink a sip of your cocktail and look around, you see Dan standing a few meters away, watching Phil skeptically. This is your chance. Inconspicuously you squint in Phil’s direction to show Dan that you need help. You have become quite good friends lately and he understands your situation immediately. He comes up to you and waves. Immediately you wave back and act like you’ve only just noticed him. Phil, who was about to tell you something, gets interrupted by Dan. "MC come with me, Jessy wants you to go dancing with her," he calls. You’re looking at Phil. He just smiles and moves aside so you can go to Dan. The bearded one immediately takes your hand and pulls you in the direction where the bar is. "Thank you" you say. "Watch little one, I really don’t like your hacker friend very much, but then I’d rather take him than a fuck boy like Phil. He is not a relationship person" You’re starting to smile. "If he shows up again, I’ll take care of it," you answer. "Yeah, and I’m gonna have to talk to him, just not as nice as you plan to do." Asking, you look at Dan and pull up an eyebrow.
"MC you don’t have to pretend like you don’t care about anything. You have changed slightly, become paranoid and much more careful with what you say. We haven’t said anything yet because we didn’t want to interfere, neither of us understands what’s between you and Jake." You look at the floor sad. You haven’t noticed yourself that you are feeling so bad, but if the others even notice it when writing, it will be true. "It doesn’t matter, I promised Jessy that this evening was ours, so let’s just celebrate." You blink at Dan and hit him lightly against his shoulder. Suddenly you’re hugged from behind and almost thrown to the ground. Dan can hold you just as tight as Jessy screams into your ear. "LET’S DANCE MC PLEASE" she shouts. "AUA JESSYYYY NOT SO LOUD, I’M NOT DEAF" you call back just as loud what makes her giggle. She looks at you like a puppy, pleading her hands folded. "All right, but only if Dan comes too" "What? No! I don’t dance..." "Yay" calls the redhead in between and pulls Dan and you behind her. On the dance floor you will meet the rest of the group. Richy and Thomas have put an arm around their shoulders and jump up and down to the beat of the music. They call the lines of the song.
"When I saw her Walking down the street She looked so fine I just had to speak I asked her name But she turned away As she walked All that I could say what"
Typical party music is played by the DJ. When Richy finds you three, he screams. "MCCCC" He shouts so loudly that some strangers turn to you and look at you. Giggling, you look back at Richy who just shrugs his shoulders. He and Thomas still jump up and down. Richy puts his right arm around you and encourages you to join in. Laughing you do what he wants and put an arm around Jessy’s shoulder. Jessy does the same with Dan. Dan puts his arm around Cleo and these around Lilly. And so you all stand there and jump together to the beat of the music and laugh.
"So many girls in here, where do I begin? I seen this one, I’m 'bout to go in Then she said, I’m here with my friends She got me thinking and that’s when I said Where the girls at, girls at? Where the girls at, girls at? Where the girls at, girls at?
So go get them, we can all be friends" you all sing together in the choir for "Where Them Girl At - David Guetta".   Soon you realize that Richy seems to be pretty good at rapping. Even if the text is rather screamed, in real life it would certainly sound good. Meanwhile, Phil and a friend of his have also come to you. You didn’t care because first they brought a tablet with shots you all drank together. Second, Phil has a certain distance from you and doesn’t stand right next to you. Third, because you just didn’t care about anything and you just enjoyed the music and the time with your friends.
“No, no I don't endorse that, pause that, abort that Just the other day mi go London, saw that, kids down the street Paparazzi, all that Hey hey what can I say? Day day day da-day day Coming through the club all the girls in the back of me This ain't football why the fuck they tryna tackle me?"
Thomas pulls Lilly between him and Richy. The poor girl is pushed back and forth for fun while both sing the lyrics.
"Really, I pick dude at the bar like really Looking like he wanna good time like really"
Richy puts both hands on Lilly’s shoulders from behind and jumps around next to her.
"Said he had a friend for my home girl Lilly Lilly, Lilly, Lilly" Lilly looks at him unsettled and almost loses the balance because of the movement Richy produces.
The song ends and a different melody sounds. The melody of "Happy Birthday" It’s zero o'clock, it’s Jessy’s birthday. All guests who don’t belong to Jesse’s birthday are looking around confused. Dan and Thomas disappeared a minute ago to get the cake for Jessy. Jessy gets pulled into the middle by Richy and the rest of you line up around her. You’re looking confused at Richy, who took care of "Happy Birthday" being played for Jessy.
"Feliz cumpleaños? That’s Spanish?" you realize.
He nods proudly.
You look at him "Why?"
"Is something normal with us?" he asks grinning.
You’re shaking your head.
"See? That’s why Spanish"
"Can anyone here speak Spanish?"
"No, I don’t think so, but whatever"
"Idiot" you answer laughing.
People make way and you see a bright light of candles on the cake. Cleo keeps her hands on Jessys  eyes, so she can’t see. The music goes out and Cleo takes the hands off Jessy’s eyes.
Her eyes get big when she sees the cake Cleo made. "1...2...3..." Thomas shouts, at the same time everyone starts singing again for Jessy, even the guests who don’t belong to Jessy sing along. Like on command, Jessy starts crying. Quickly you go to her and take her in your arms. At the end of song, everyone starts to applaud. You congratulate her, "Happy Birthday Jessy" and hug her tight. "You have to blow out the candles," says Dan. "Make a wish," Lilly adds. "But don’t say it out loud, otherwise the wish won’t come true" you warn her. "You’re so cute," Jessy murmurs, wiping away the tears. Then she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Then she blows out the candles. Then everyone applauds again. Little by little, everyone congratulates her. Even some strangers wish her well. Everyone gives the presents to Richy, who then takes them to his car and puts them in the trunk, where everything stays all night. Since each of you drinks alcohol, you and Jessy will take a cab home to her later.
And as soon as everyone wakes up, Dan Richy drives back to the club so Richy can get the car. Then you all meet at Jessy’s and have breakfast together, and then the others want to show you some Duskwood. You took a week off so you’ll be here a few more days. Arrived in the lounge Dan puts the cake on the table to wish Jessy finally all the best. "So how do we eat it now? We’re definitely not allowed to use cutlery in here" Jessy looks at us questioningly. "You’re right, that’s why the cake has already been cut, and Cleo brought a pack of napkins, which should be enough" Richy explains. After eating the cake, Jessy bought some drinks for all. Now you’re all back on the dance floor. So slowly you start to sweat and also you get a little dizzy. "I’m going outside for a minute, get some fresh air" you call out. "Shall we come with you?" Dan asks directly and looks worried. "No, I’ll be fine. I need a little rest, there must be other guys outside. And if the man without a face kidnaps me, look for me and hit him"
"Okay, but if you’re not back in 20 minutes, we’ll come looking for you," Dan warns you.
"Okay, dad, do that" you wink at him and start squeezing you through the people.
Shortly thereafter, you open the door and step out into the night.
Immediately, the cold wind hits you, goose bumps spread on your arms and you take a deep breath.
Immediately you relax a little.
Further away is a small group who smoke and laugh.
Well, you’re not alone, and even if the bouncers are still there. And the way they look, the man without a face has no chance of kidnapping you. You lean back against the cold wall and close your eyes for a moment.
You didn’t expect it to be so cold and folded your arms in front of your chest to protect your arms a little.
Enjoying the tranquility you do not notice the steps that come to you.
"Hey, there you are" suddenly sounds.
Immediately you flinch and jump away from the person.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you" Phil looks at you.
"Oh my God, never do that again" you hiss and hold your hand to your chest to calm your heart, which beats twice as fast as usual.
"All right? You’re pale.Did you get so scared?" he grins at you. "Of course, you know I’m trying to find a missing girlfriend? It can happen that one is more frightened than usual" you explain.
"Why are you out here all alone, you’re right, there’s a murderer running around, it’s pretty irresponsible of you."
"Or are you seeing the kidnapper?" he jokes.
"Haha, no, I was just warm and I needed some fresh air, and what are you doing here?"
"The same" he mumbles and brings a pack of cigarettes from the pocket of the shirt he is wearing over the tshirt.
"Any?" he asks.
Considering you look at the box he’s holding out to you.
You were just reaching for it when you saw a movement across the street, it looked like a man. You look at the street light in a flash, but there’s nothing.
"Everything okay?" asks Jessy’s brother.
"Yes, everything is fine, thank you, I do not want any" you refuse the cigarettes.
"How do you like the evening so far?"
"Very good, and how do you like it?" you answer his question.
"It’s okay, but the night is still young, so much can happen or not?" he breathes.
Oh no, please don’t.
"Uh, sure?" your answer sounds more like an overwhelmed question.
"Where do you sleep?"
"in Jessy’s apartment" you answer and try not to show how unpleasant the situation is.
"You can sleep with me too" he grins at you. "Oh, uh, I don’t think that’s a good idea," you mumble and nervously rub a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Why not? Do you have a boyfriend?"
You look at him annoyed.
"No, I don’t, it’s complicated, but I’m not the type for One Night Stands" you explain.
"It doesn’t have to be just one night" he laughs.
"Okay, just kidding please don’t hit me" he grins.
You were expecting Dan, but that’s definitely not Dan. "Wow, who are you?" Phil asks. In front of him stands a dark-clad man. The hood of his black jacket is pulled over his head. Instead of a face, you look at the face of a staring mask. That one mask you missed so much. "It doesn’t matter, but now you should stop giving MC a bad feeling" hisses the man who’s obviously Jake. "Oh, and who are you to speak for MC? She can say that by herself or not?" hisses Phil. "She can, and she certainly would, but if you had looked out for her, you would have seen that she was not feeling well. So go back inside and leave her alone. And don’t worry, I’ll take care of her" the voice sounds a little mechanical but not like the one he usually uses. But distorting a voice in the mask would also be weird. But wouldn’t surprise you either.
Instead of interfering, you’re frozen in the same place. Your mouth is open with amazement and you forget to blink.
"You are threatening me?" Phil keep provoking. He’s not a man who likes to take orders.
"Never mess with a person you don’t know, you never know what the person is capable of. I could destroy your whole life, Philipp Hoppkins. Owner of the bar Aurora. I even know the name of your first girlfriend"
Jake is a little bit taller than Phil.
It looks a little creepy the way he looking down on Phil from above and holding his head slightly crooked.
"Are you a stalker or why do you know everything about me?" Phil looks confused at Jake.
"That also doesn’t matter, but if you want to keep your bar, get out of here now" Jake’s voice sounds like a warning. "You’re really threatening me," hisses Phil.
"No, I just gave you a hint," counters Jake.
Finally you come back in the real world, you had to realize for a moment that Jake was there, he was here, he is one meter in front of you.
"Is it really you?" you breathe overwhelmed.
Jake’s head is moving in your direction and you realize he’s nodding to you.
As if Phil wasn’t there, Jake slips past him and stops in front of you.
"What are you doing here?" you immediately ask.
"I wanted to..I wanted to see if everything is okay, how you are" he whispers.
"Why? Where have you been? Are you okay? Are you safe?" the questions just pop out of you. "I’m sorry, MC, I don’t have much time. The important thing is that I was worried that you were in Duskwood so I wanted to check on you to make sure everything was okay."
"Please, Jake, can’t you stay a day or something?" you beg him.
"MC please, it’s not safe here," he whispers.
"I’m weird because I’m flirting with you, but you’re talking to the masked guy?" Phil suddenly asks.
You look at him hard and you reach for Jake’s hand.
You feel his whole body tense as you pull him away from Phillip.
A few feet away, you stop to talk alone to the hacker. "Jake, please, we can meet at the motel. I’m sure Lilly can help us, so no one can see us at the motel. Please, I have so many questions and I’m worried about you"
You can hear him sighing.
At this moment, you wish the mask away so you can see his reaction.
It’s quiet for almost a minute.
"Jake please" is your breath.
He’s growling.
"That’s not good, MC, that’s dangerous, you’re dangerous, dangerous to me," he murmurs.
Dangerous for him? That sounds kind of hot but also like an insult.
"What do you mean?" you ask.
"I should have left long ago, but I’m still standing here and I feel like I’m having a heart attack. my heart is beating so fast it can't be healthy" he calmly explains. "Are your persecutors so close to you or why is your heart beating so fast?" you ask him uncertainly. "No MC that’s not the reason, I have a bit of a lead right now which is why I can be here" "Are you scared about the raven guy?" "God MC no, because of you! Because of you it beats so fast, that’s why I’m still here, because I missed you" "Ohhhh ah" you murmur and you notice how your cheeks turn red. A little moment it’s quiet between you both. "I was hoping for a reaction," Jake whispers, wanting to take a step back. before he can move, you hug him tight. He breathes in surprised Again, you realize how he’s tense.
But shortly afterwards he relaxes and also put his arms around you.
His smell draws into your nose and clouds your mind. It feels as if all the problems and every difficulty just falls from your soul. You automatically feel safe and secure. It’s like a switch in your head flipping.
A few moments ago it was cold and now you are warm, cuddly warm and beautiful. And you know right away that you want that feeling that you’ve only felt with Jake, forever.
Forever in your life, forever by your side.
Him by your side forever. This hacker whose face you don’t know, whose identity you don’t really know, who is wanted by the government, this hacker has sneaked directly into your heart with his sweet nature. And that’s where you want to keep him.
"I missed you too, Jake, you can’t imagine how much" you sniffed. You can’t control it, you’ve been so worried about Jake that you’re just relieved to see him. In addition, you have already drunk one or the other glass of alcohol today and therefore your senses are already a little foggy. "Are you crying?" you hear Jake asking. You press your head firmly against his chest and hide your head under his arm lying around your shoulder. "No," you snifed again. "Yes, you do, look at me, Mc," he breathes and pushes you away to look at you. "Why?" he asks quietly. "I was just worried! I didn’t know until just now if you were caught by the government or if you were safe. And now you’re standing in front of me." "I’m sorry, really, but I also have to think about you, if they catch me, and find everything, you’re in danger. You hacked with me. Not all of this, but simply trusting a hacker and hacking a stranger’s cell phone is also illegal" he explains objectively. "Couldn’t you at least get in touch once? So much has happened where I needed you.I know you can’t help it. I don’t want to blame you, but I was alone. The others from the group were by my side but that’s not the same as with you. Besides, Hannah and I don’t know each other. I can look at everything objectively and at the same time have to consider whether Jessy or one of the others is acting out of emotions. I talk too much for that you don’t have time I’m sorry" your voice sounds desperate.
"You don’t have to be sorry, I have to be sorry. And I want to protect you, that’s all I care about, that you’re safe."
Overwhelmed by what you’re supposed to do, you push your body back again Jake's. "Your action with #IamJake helped me, by the way.For that I thank you and say thank you to Lilly. That means a lot to me." he murmurs. "Jake, all these people, they don’t know you, and they’re behind you. Behind you and me, behind Hannah. Please, Jake, come back to me." "MC...I’m sorry, I can’t" Jake’s voice sounds desperate. Just like yours, you’re desperate, you don’t know what to do. There’s only one logical reaction for you before you let him go again. Now all you have to do is hope everything goes well. Breath in, breath out. Without warning you put your hand on the mask and pull it up only so far that you get to Jake’s lips. You quickly stand on your toes, reach for the collar of his jacket and pull him down to you. Before he has a chance to move, you press your lips on his. If only you could see his reaction now, his face. Or maybe read his mind. A flood of happiness hormones is spreading through your body. Even if Jake doesn’t move, this is the best moment of your life. His lips feel soft, soft and perfect for yours. If you haven’t been in love by that point, you’ll be in love by now. This sad conversation was perfect in your eyes, even if it was sad, it was with Jake. Just as quickly as you kissed him, you break away from him. God, did you really do that? Why you do that? You see the kiss as a kind of goodbye to him and you just want to get out of here, away from this place. You didn’t know if he wanted to. In addition, he had a mask on. Actually, that should be reason enough not to kiss someone. Before you can run,Jake grabs your wrist and before you can react, you feel his lips on yours this time.
He’s kissing you now.
HE KISSES YOU.
HE KISSES YOU!
Quickly he pulls his head away. You look at him, the mask is gone, he holds it in his hand. "God damn it," you murmur and wrap your arms around his neck. Desperately, you kiss him again. Desperate to see him next time, whether you’ll ever see him again. Whether he will be free or whether his persecutors will catch him. You don’t know all that things, and you don’t know how to go on, how you can ever live normally. Yes, quite dramatically to think like that but this boy has something about himself that immediately captured and fascinated you. But what you just said about the best moment of your life was a lie. This is the most beautiful moment in your life. Because this time, you both want it, without being surprised by the other, you kiss like there’s no next day. As if all you have is this brief moment between you, this moment of uncertainty about the future, about everything. Because actually, this has been your life for months, but you love it, you love the people you’ve met. Hell, even Lilly made you like her.
You have become a team, and Jake is also part of that team.
You were like a family, and right now you’re planning on moving to Duskwood as fast as you can. You want to live here, with your friends, with the best friends you can have, they’re so different, but they’re still the same. You want to live here, with Jessy, with Cleo, with Richy, with Dan, with Thomas, with Lilly, also with Hannah, and of course with Jake. You knew from that moment that is the best decision of your life would be. A life full of joy, happiness and great people around you until you’re old, and even then. As in a book "To Death and Much More" But this is not a book but the real life, the life where you’re kissing a man who’s perfect for you in your eyes. Your lips move perfectly to each other as if it were the only thing you ever did, the only thing that ever counted. Admittedly, you didn’t expect Jake to be able to kiss so well. That sounds mean, but he seems to have been lonely the last years. Even if it took you a while to kiss, you are breaking away from each other far too quickly. You feel drunk, whether it’s alcohol or the kiss, you don’t know, but probably both. Your knees tremble from the adrenaline flowing through your veins. Your heart is racing and your hands are shaking easily. "Tomorrow at the motel. Please ask Lilly to find a solution where we will not be seen. And be careful the rest of the evening, and please stop drinking so much alcohol. I taste the tequila." Without waiting for your answer, he turns around and disappears towards darkness. He puts the mask back on while running. Like in a movie, a car gets hit and makes a full stop right in front of Jake. He opens the door, gets in, closes the door again and the car drives on. And again, you’re standing there with your mouth open, staring at Jake. "Oh, my God" you hear a woman say. Your head turns in the direction of the voice, you look into Jessy’s eyes. She stares at you and holds a hand in front of her mouth. She seems to be more shocked than you. You’re being stared at by all your friends standing next to Jessy and just as overwhelmed as you are. Right, Dan wanted to come after 20 minutes to see if everything was okay. Like trapped in a dream, you turn your head back to the spot where Jake stood with the car seconds ago. Jessy comes running at you. "Was that HE?" she asked immediately. "MC’s all right with you?" you hear Dan worried. They keep asking you things, but you just can’t answer. "Tomorrow at the motel," you hear Jake’s voice in your head. Jessy waves her hand in front of your face to get your attention. "Tomorrow at the motel," you hear his voice again. "MC Hello? Can you hear me?" "Shit, tomorrow at the motel, but what time?" you call out. "MC talk to us now" Lilly begs. "Lilly I need to talk to you! You need to give me a motel room.Is there a back entrance? Where someone can come into the building secretly? A hidden room? I’m also satisfied with a storage room" the words just flow out of you.
"Um, yeah?" Lilly looks at you confused.
"Okay, I need a plan, explain the way, and best time, do you have to work tomorrow?"
"No, I have free time, but tomorrow, Miss Walter will be there. And since the body appeared and Hannah is gone, we have almost no guests. Nobody wants to go to Duskwood at the moment" she explains. "That’s perfect, okay, explain to me how to get in without anyone seeing you" you demand.
"Tell us what happened first" Jessy tries to make you talk.
"MC, that was Jake, wasn’t it?" Dan calmly asks you.
"Yes, yes, he was, and I’ll meet him tomorrow" you said excitedly. No one say a word. Jessy has hiccups. "You’ll have sex tomorrow" she giggles. At the same time as Lilly, you call Jessy’s name as a warnin, she just twitches her shoulders and drinks a sip  her glass. You are sighing. "Dan? I need a glass of whiskey now"

I hope you enjoyed it🎭🌹.

SYNOPSIS: Kang Taehyun, a sassy, young guardian angel, didn’t think anyone could be more of an absolute mess… boy, was he mistaken.
PART ONE || PART TWO || INTERLUDE || PART THREE
.
taehyun was right, something you didn’t care much to admit.
you absolutely adored kai.
if you searched “lovable younger brother” in a dictionary, no doubt kai’s picture would appear beside the definition. he was childish, a bit odd, sweet as honey, and outstandingly attentive. the dynamic was quite different with him. he was just as protective and loving as taehyun, but there was a complete lack of emotional attachment.
you found it refreshing.
with taehyun, it was almost like you were drawn to each other both physically and mentally as if a string were pulling you together. the longer you remained apart, the more you hurt, but you hid it as best as possible— kai was bright and bubbly, you didn’t like the idea of him seeing anything less than that.
you fiddled with the fabric of your blanket, mind full of incoherent thoughts, while kai engrossed himself with the movie on the television screen. lately, you often found yourself like this— detached and numb. however, if there was one person to reel you back from the empty feeling, it was kai. you watched him with a fond smile. you were thankful for the young boy, just being in his high-spirited presence, seeing his smile, hearing his obnoxiously loud laugh... it made things hurt just a little less.
“hey, kai?”
he turned his head slightly but kept his eyes glued to the screen, “yeah, what’s up?”
“i think i’m going to turn in, i’m getting sleepy,” you mumbled quietly.
your cracked, dull voice didn’t slip past him. he was concerned of course, but you were hesitant to let him in, to let down your barriers. he sighed to himself before giving you his full attention along with a soft smile, “okay. goodnight y/n, sweet dreams.”
“sweet dreams,” you repeated.
“actually wait, y/n. uh, i just wanted to tell you that i know i’m not him... but i’m always here to talk if you want,” he stated shyly. you felt guilty. you wanted to let him in, really, but everything hurt all the time and you just didn’t have the energy. he didn’t know how much you wanted to talk to him, to cry on his shoulder, to eat copious amounts of ice cream with him, but you were hesitant. hesitant and very much in pain, both mentally and physically.
you simply nodded your head in acknowledgment and gave a soft smile before making your way to your bedroom. you climbed into your bed and wrapped a plush quilt around your feverishly warm body which contrasted the cold, empty bed. you clutched onto a plushie and tried to drive away the negative thoughts, but to no avail, they plagued your mind once again.
just forget about him, he’s never coming back.
you laid there, fiddling with the sheets beneath you, hesitant to fall asleep. lately, you absolutely despised sleeping. your unconscious mind enjoyed playing cruel tricks on you, constantly making you dream of taehyun. the dreams mocked you, reminded you that he would never come home. you hated the moments right after waking up. for a few minutes, you were able to lay in bed, believing everything was alright, that there was no heartbreak or loss. you missed being held by him, having his warmth beside you as he played with your hair and hummed a sweet melody. it never failed to lull you to sleep— his touch was always soothing.
you both came such a long way.
going against every bone in your body, you squeezed your eyes shut and let yourself indulge in the memory of the first time he ever held you close.
taehyun sat on your bedroom floor, irritated and resentful, as you turned on high school musical for the fourth time in the span of thirty-six hours. he narrowed his eyes and flashed you an exhausted, disgusted gaze but you failed to notice, your head easily hidden in the mountain of plushies, tear-stained tissues, and blankets on your bed. you had an annoying habit of mumbling along to the movie and singing— more like yelling— along to the musical numbers. you had the vocal abilities of a brick and he promised himself that if he had to listen to your off-key, horrid singing one more time, he would tear his beloved wings out. he settled himself on the edge of your bed, picking away at the stuffed animals and blankets surrounding you.
“y/n... talk to me. please,” he begged. he was hoping to distract you from the movie and forcing you to speak was the only way he truly knew how.
you paused the movie and snapped, “leave me alone.”
“see, here’s the thing. i can’t exactly ‘leave you alone’ since it’s quite literally my job to constantly be by your side,” he reminded you smugly. you peaked your head out from under the blankets and threw him a lethal glare. he threw his hands up and surrendered, “fine. have it your way. can you at least move over so i can watch too?”
you sighed before unwrapping yourself from your makeshift blanket burrito and scooting to the side. you sat shoulder to shoulder as an awkward silence fell over the room. he inhaled sharply and glanced at your expectantly but not before mentally preparing himself for your random musical outbursts.
“well, what are you waiting for? ...press play.”
if there was anything worse than your singing, it was your crying and boy, were you doing a lot of crying... you were always a sucker for romantic movies. you clutched your hands to your chest, happy tears spilling over as the ending credits rolled. though, you were quickly brought out of your post-movie haze as you felt light taps on your head. you slowly turned to the side to see taehyun awkwardly patting you, his amusing but unhelpful way of comforting you.
yeah... this doesn’t seem right, he thought to himself.
he retracted his hand only to hesitantly circle his arm around your shoulder and pull you into him. you immediately tensed yet you didn’t pull away, the reasoning beyond you. you adored how he smelled like sweet cinnamon and gingerbread; you did your best to ignore the way his scent made your heart flutter. he cringed to himself before squeezing you tighter— he wasn’t much for physical affection. god, the things he did for this job.
you opened your eyes and shook your head fondly at the memory, a humorless laugh escaping your lips— it was amusing how awkward and hesitant you both were. you tried conjuring more memories but your tired eyes fluttered shut and your mind went blank. in that moment, a dull ache manifested in your chest but you paid no mind, sleep washing over you quickly.
· ──────────────────── ·
the following morning, you woke not to the soft sunlight streaming through the window, but to the sharp pain in your lungs which encroached on your ability to breathe. you gripped your pillow harshly and let out a muffled sob, attempting to relieve some of the pain. unfortunately, this had become a common development, so you tried your best to ignore the pain and hide it, especially in front of kai. you didn’t want to worry his pretty head, especially when telling him wouldn’t relieve any of the pain, it would just make the both of you miserable. you slowly rolled out of bed, trudging into your bathroom to wash your face. you wanted to maintain some semblance of normalcy, it kept you grounded and your mind off of taehyun. you found the pain usually subsided the longer the day went on, so you did your best to cope.
you tried ignoring kai’s heinously loud snores as you trudged out the front door. his body was curled up on the wooden flooring of your living room, hidden underneath his iridescent wings as if it were a substitute blanket. you glanced at his bedroom, which was less than six feet away, and sighed. his ability to sleep anywhere was amusing, though a bit concerning.
lately, kai had taken a liking, though you would argue obsession, to cold brew. it was partially your fault though, your caffeine dependency had exponentially increased, consequently rubbing off on him. being the good older sister you were, plus the fact that once again, you woke up at an ungodly hour, you decided to run a few errands and pick up coffee for you both before he woke up.
you dragged your exhausted body into the nearby café, the scent of java and freshly baked goods waking you up instantly. beomgyu stood behind the counter, a sunny smile already plastered on his face as if he were waiting for you.
“ah, you’re late! i was starting to worry i wouldn’t get to see my favorite customer today,” he mused, a cheeky grin appearing on his stunning features. that handsome face and lively personality reeled in a lot of tips, you just knew it. though, he reserved his extra friendly smile for you, or at least that’s what he told you. seeing you, an old friend from high school, was always a highlight of his shift. you were one of the few reasons he enjoyed working the morning rush.
before you could comprehend his statement, he continued, “same order, right?”
you gave him a half-hearted smile and nodded, hesitant to speak as you feared your hoarse, sleep-filled voice would betray you. he flashed you a small wink and turned around. he danced behind the counter, humming to himself quietly as he made your iced coffee. he was always so full of energy, even in grade school— age didn’t change that fact. you watched as he gracefully poured sweet cream into your cup, the coffee turning light brown— just the way you liked it.
“y/n.”
you admired the way the milk cascaded down the plastic cup and blended with the coffee. it distracted you from the ache in your chest.
“y/n,” beomgyu repeated, snapping his nimble fingers in front of your face, breaking you out of your haze. you were so embarrassed.
“oh god, i’m sorry, i wasn’t paying much attention.”
“hm, i could tell,” he chuckled softly, a silvery sound you always loved hearing. he handed you the coffee and scanned the cafe before discretely sliding a sugary pastry across the counter. you tried protesting but he didn’t budge, shutting you down instantly.
“hush. lately, you’ve been out of it... ever since that boy left. trust me, i get it,” he sympathized, flashing you an understanding smile.
“thank you,” you muttered sheepishly, accepting the warm cookie.
“mhm, don’t mention it, it’s my job as a friend to make sure you’re well-fed and you’re looking a bit under the weather. i’ll see you later this week, yeah?”
you nodded softly, “of course.”
when you stepped outside, you stared at the bright sky and let the sun warm your skin, happily relishing the moment. you didn’t know much about angels, save for the fact that they exist, but you liked to think taehyun sat perched on a cloud and watched over you.
when you arrived home, the scent of burnt food was the first thing you were greeted with. dirty dishes were splayed out across your kitchen island and bits of pancake batter stuck to the walls. a nervous kai stood in front of the stove, attempting to not burn another pancake and easily failing. you set the coffee on the countertop and sighed, “kai, what are you doing?”
“hey! y/n! wow, you’re back so soon! how was the café?” he asked, hoping he could steer clear of the upcoming scolding but much like the pancakes, failing miserably. you didn’t answer his question, rather you studied the messy room, eyes instantly landing on an unused fire extinguisher. your eyebrows lifted curiously.
“... just in case,” he explained. he shrunk in on himself and shifted uncomfortably. he didn’t want to upset you, especially not when you were heartbroken. you nodded your head understandingly, chuckling to yourself as you began preparing a bowl of pancake batter.
he seemed stunned, “you... don’t seem mad at me...”
“ah, you were just trying to make us a nice breakfast! why do you think i’d be mad?”
“oh... i don’t know, i just thought you’d be upset,” he mumbled softly. in response, you smiled mischievously before dipping a finger into the batter and swiping a bit on his nose. he grinned in return, taking his own handful and splattering it on your cheek.
“oh, you’re definitely gonna pay for that,” you challenge.
he stood on his tip-toes and stuck his tongue out childishly, “you’re going to have to reach me first.”
you both giggled and played until there was more pancake on your clothes than on the stove. he might have been a couple centuries old but he had such a young and active spirit. his smile was outstandingly bright and it brought you so much joy. because of him, for the first time in a long while, your smile was genuine and you couldn’t feel any pain.

you were quite wrong.
taehyun wasn’t sat atop a cloud. instead, he was curled up on soobin’s old couch with a scorching fever. he shook violently, the pain overwhelming him, but all he could focus on was the thought of you. he thought about your crinkly eyes when you laughed at one of his stupid jokes, the small bites you took from your food and the way you insisted it helped you savor the food when really you were just picky. he thought about the way you always clutched onto his shirt when he kissed you, the way you couldn’t help but sob at a sad commercial, and the way you would try to hide your blush when he flirted with you. though, the thought that occupied his mind the most was your vibrant smile. god, your smile. it was art. it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen and he’d seen the world; he’d been alive during the renaissance but he thought your smile outdid any piece. he would’ve done anything to see it again. the thought of you broke his heart, shattered him into little pieces, but he couldn’t stop.
he groaned in agony, grasping at the seams of the nearest pillow. soobin watched the younger from the opposite side of the room, a worried expression painted across his face, “jesus tae, what the hell is wrong with you?”
taehyun ignored the question, the dull ache in his head muffled the older’s voice anyways.
“you’ve been like this for months, this is not a normal breakup,” soobin continued. it was true, ever since he left you, his health had been deteriorating to the point where soobin knew this wasn’t just heartbreak, it was something beyond that. taehyun wondered how you were faring, he hoped you were doing better than him. he was clueless, the only thing soobin told him was that you were a little under the weather— understatement of the decade.
“bub, something is seriously wrong. angels shouldn’t get this sick. you need help. i’m sure someone will know what to do,” soobin assured hopefully. the older shook his head helplessly, his mind trying to run through all the potential reasonings for the sickness. he hated seeing taehyun this way.
taehyun might not have known much, but he knew what would at least quell the pain. though selfish, something an angel should never be, he knew he had to see you.

your condition went to shit almost overnight.
kai had tried everything: tea, warm baths, herbs, all sorts of therapeutic techniques, and every single medication on the planet. none of it helped in the slightest. the pain which had started in your chest had spread downward, running from your ribs to your lower extremities. your sickness was working it’s way out, slowly overtaking your body, and there was nothing you could do to stop it. even the doctors couldn’t find a solution. while kai spent most of his time frantically scrounging for new healing techniques and medication, he was often found right beside you, attached at the hip— something you hadn’t experienced since taehyun. kai always held your hair back when you puked, wrapped you in blankets when you shivered, and prepared soup for you when your throat was sore— albeit the food was near inedible. he was the perfect guardian angel. he loved you so much, he didn’t know what he’d do if he lost you.
kai was out, once again, fetching a random medication that he didn’t even think would work, but he told himself it was better than nothing. it pained him to leave you alone, but he knew he had to try. you, on the other hand, made a beeline for the wine bottle you kept hidden in the back of your pantry, the second kai shut the front door. you liked to think you were handling your heartbreak well, or at least masked it flawlessly. looking back on your breakup with yeonjun, you scolded yourself for handling it so childishly. with taehyun, though not necessarily a normal breakup per se, it was far more unbearable yet you handled it... maturely. or at least that’s what you told yourself. you plastered on a false facade of normalcy, keeping everything bottled up, ignoring the little voice in your head that told you this was an unhealthy way to cope. but looking at the bright side, at least you were functioning and there wasn’t a disgusting pile of used tissues growing beside your bed.
this particular night was the only time, for just a few freeing minutes, you didn’t hurt. the pain subsided and was pushed to the back of your mind— all thanks to the light buzz of the alcohol. you stood on your small balcony, wine glass in hand, staring out into the cold darkness of the night. your mind was a bit fuzzy and despite the frigidness of the air, you felt warm.
“taehyunie... i miss you so much,” you giggled to yourself. not often you called him by that nickname but you knew he secretly loved it. you leaned carelessly against the edge of your balcony and looked to the heavens, mumbling taehyun’s name until you were shouting. a part of you hoped that repeatedly calling his name into the darkness of the night would bring him back to you— much like the bloody mary tactic.
you closed your eyes and tried again, “taehyun!”
your mind was too fuzzy to acknowledge the glow burning beside you. before you could comprehend the situation, a hand was roughly tugging you away from the balcony. you were instantly pressed against the glass door behind you, the wine bottle getting ripped from your hands easily. your vision was blurry but the second his figure came back into view, your vision became clear as day. taehyun stood in front of you, as beautiful as always, but noticeably paler and thinner— even his wings lost their captivating glow.
“jesus y/n, are you trying to wake the entire apartment complex, what are you doing?”
his presence was immediately sobering.
you were at a complete loss of words, too stunned by his presence to speak. he hovered over you protectively which eased your mind and heart. he stood so close to you, practically sharing the same air. it was unbelievable. you slowly brought your hand up to his face, too scared to move any faster in fear that he might vanish into thin air. maybe this was a lovely fever dream, but the way he let out a shaky breath and wrapped his hand around your small wrist told you otherwise. he was finally with you, his home, after so many weeks apart.
you threw your arms around his neck and gasped, “i can’t believe it worked.”
he immediately wrapped his strong arms around your frame and breathed you in. he missed your warm hugs, the way you always smelled like lavender and fabric softener, and he especially missed the way you fit perfectly in his arms like he was meant to hold you. holding you was like holding a piece of his heart. he rested his chin on the crown of your head, closing his eyes momentarily before opening them once more and shaking his head, “wait, wait, what worked?”
“oh! i called your name until you appeared.”
he tucked a couple of loose strands of hair behind your ear and cooed, “silly girl, that’s not how it works.”
a light blush painted your cheeks, a bit embarrassed for thinking that was the reason he came. he chuckled softly and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead before continuing, “i was already on my way here, i just needed to make sure you were okay. but i don’t have long, soobin will notice i’m gone.”
you nodded slowly, the weight of his words sinking in and stinging. he brushed one hand against your cheeks, tracing over your cheekbone lightly while his other hand gripped your waist, “let me kiss you.”
his bluntness shocked you but you didn’t shy away. his eyes flitted around your face, wanting to capture every detail before he kissed you. when he finally leaned in and pressed his plush lips on yours, it felt like oxygen returning to your lungs after holding your breath for so long. the sounds of the cars driving below, people chatting amongst themselves, airplanes flying above— it was all silenced, the only thing that mattered was him. all he could feel, see, touch, breathe... it was all you. the unspoken finality settled in the space around you, telling you it would be your last kiss. you didn’t notice the tears slowly streaming down your face until you tasted salt on your lips, but that didn’t stop him, if anything it drove him to kiss you deeper.
he wanted to kiss all the tears and pain away.
he pulled away to wipe his thumbs under your eyes, catching the loose tears as they fell uncontrollably. he didn’t fare much better as his vision became blurry but he tried to hold it in as best as possible. you clutched onto his shirt and let reality sink in, both acknowledging that this would be the last time in each other’s touch. your cheeks were puffy and flushed red. he couldn’t help but smile— your raw beauty was enchanting.
“i love you. i’ll always love you,” you whispered, voice hoarse from the crying. he wiped the tears from your cheeks. you leaned into his touch wanting to savor every second.
“you are the love of my life. i might not be by your side anymore, but one day, i will be. i know it. i’ll come back to you and we’ll be together again. i promise you i’ll never lose hope,” he declared, pressing a long kiss to your forehead.
“please don’t go. please. just stay with me,” you begged, desperately grabbing his hands in a final plea.
“babygirl, i have to go, i shouldn’t be here,” he whispered softly. he hated hurting you. he absolutely hated himself for it, for having to leave you. your body racked with sobs as he pressed a final kiss to your lips, “goodbye, my love.”
and in a flash of light, he was gone.
your hands grabbed at nothing but air. you stared ahead at the lively city beneath you, a stark contrast to the dead, lonely emptiness you felt. his sweet cinnamon scent still lingered in the air around you and you closed your eyes, allowing yourself to relish in the last bit of him you’d ever get. unfortunately, the moment didn’t last long as a searing pain shot through your body causing you to double over in pain, the white behind your eyes quickly turning black.
· ──────────────────── ·
the harsh fluorescent lighting cast down upon you in the most unpleasant manner as you groggily woke from your deep slumber. your eyes trained on the ceiling above you which was littered with old water stains and peeled paint. your mind ran wild with frantic thoughts but was quickly silenced by a pain shooting down your left arm. the cardiac monitor beside you mirrored the panic you felt, the tempo of your heartbeat increasing with each rushed thought and you suddenly became increasingly aware of the needle stuck in your arm and the rough sheets scratching your bare legs.
“hey, y/n, shh everything is alright. you’re in the hospital,” a familiar voice explained.
you craned your neck towards the sound, wincing from the dull ache in your neck. your vision was a bit hazy but you could still see the outline of a thin boy sitting on the hospital bed beside you.
“don’t move too much, you’re pretty bruised up,” he continued.
you quickly distinguished the soothing, deep voice, “... beomgyu?”
“hi princess. shh, don’t strain your voice, you’ve been out for a couple days now. you need some water,” he stated softly and you could hear the concern laced in his voice. your vision sharped, landing on his bright yellow sweater. he stood out like a sore thumb, especially considering the drabness of the hospital.
“beom, what are you doing here?”
“ah, i’m your guardian angel of course! i have to watch over you,” he joked cheekily.
your eyes practically bulged out of your head and you were left at a loss of words, no, this can’t be real.
“... jeez y/n, i’m kidding. obviously, angels don’t exist,” he clarified, scrunching his nose concerningly. you flashed him a small smile and mustered up a nervous laugh in response. if he noticed any hesitancy from you, he didn’t mention it.
“right... anyways, i’m here because you haven’t shown up at the café in a few days and also i’m your emergency contact. remember?”
your mind flashed back to a very blurry night, where both of you made silly promises and spilled drunken confessions. you were fighting with yeonjun, yet again, and you ran to beomgyu’s apartment crying. he comforted you with alcohol, ice cream, and poorly plotted movies. you both felt alone, having only each other to rely on, so you both made a pact to always be there for each other. step one was making each other your emergency contacts, though, you didn’t quite get to step two, considering you both passed out on his living room floor.
“... huh, that was so long ago,” you mumbled.
“yeah, you’re telling me, thank god yeonjun’s ass is out of your life, i still can’t believe he cheated on you,” he grumbled angrily. you simply hummed in agreeance.
silence filled the room as both of you reminisced on old times. a part of you wished you could go back, and though you fought with yeonjun quite a bit, it was far less painful than what you experienced now. you tried to ignore the sadness, letting your eyes study the environment. the room was cramped but homey, the warm sunshine that streamed through the windows reflected off the white walls comfortingly. the hospital floor you were on was quite high up, the sky seemed closer to you than usual. you let a soft sigh escape your lips as you watched a puffy cloud float by. your thoughts ran loose again but the one thought that stood out the most was about him— the boy you had lost. muffled sounds traveled through your ears but you didn’t process them until beomgyu called your name.
“... and y/n, you’re pretty lucky, i think that boy of yours came back! you’re totally right, he’s really cute. he’s been attached to your side but i think he’s out talking to the doctor right now,” beomgyu rambled on.
his statement captured your full attention. your heart fluttered at the thought of taehyun being back by your side. you eagerly shifted your gaze towards the door, awaiting his return, completely ignoring the throbbing ache at the nape of your neck. your vision was still blurred but you were able to distinguish the tall, lanky frame of a boy trudging through the door.
“oh! perfect timing, here he is!”
“y/n!” the boy excitedly shouted. kai’s voice was unmistakable and you despised the way your heart dropped, just slightly. he’d been your rock for the past couple months. you were unfair, even now, when all kai did was diligently watch over you and love you. he hovered over your injured body, grabbing your hand to hold against his chest. you could see the obvious glint of worry in his eyes, he truly did care for you.
“you’re okay...” kai whispered softly. he sat on the edge of your bed and circled his thumbs over your hands soothingly. he turned to face beomgyu, “hey, thanks for watching over her while i was out, i appreciate it.”
beomgyu wasn’t blind. he knew this wasn’t the boy who broke your heart, the boy that would never come back. he watched your body deflate when kai stepped into the room, hope leaving your body. he flashed kai a cheery yet guilty smile, “yeah of course! y/n and i go way back, i’ll always look out for her.”
kai directed his attention back to you, noting the slight confusion and panic you held despite being around people you loved and cared for. he nodded his head understandingly, “two nights ago, i came home to find you unconscious on your balcony. your body was so cold but for some reason, your forehead was really hot. i brought your here for testing but the doctor can’t find anything wrong with you. they said your brain activity and vitals are normal, not to mention the fact that you have shown no physical symptoms. i tried to convince them to keep you here so they can monitor you but they’re sending you home.”
your body relaxed as you processed the information. your illness, whatever it was, didn’t concern you as much as it should have. it’s not that you didn’t care but the gravity of your situation hadn’t fully settled in. your physical appearance, though sickly and pale, fared much better in comparison to your internal health. your lungs were caving in on itself and your heart was becoming significantly weaker. you never got better, only worse, and kai blamed himself. he knew something was off yet he kept his distance, not wanting to upset you. he didn’t know that his efforts were a waste and nothing he did would help.
kai shuffled around the small room and let you sleep once more but you couldn’t. instead, you kept your eyes shut and listened to the easy, casual banter between the two boys, both forming an instant connection. it warmed your dying heart. you so badly wished you could be that person for kai— a reliable friend, a confidant. even though he was the guardian angel, you did your best to look out for him as he did you, you just preferred doing it from a safe distance. he treated you like family, like an older sister, but your relationship arguably should’ve been a lot closer for the time you spent together. you pushed him away and built unnecessary walls, and what was the point? your heart was heavy but it wasn’t from your illness nor was it from the heartbreak you felt— it was from the guilt of shutting out the one person that loved you unconditionally.
after a few hours of faux sleep and trying to contain your smile from the sound of the boy’s muffled laughter, you were discharged and brought home. kai insisted on carrying you from the car, up the stairs, and into your warm bed, refusing to leave your side for even a split second. if you moved, he would follow you around the apartment like a lost puppy. it was heartwarming, the amount of compassion a single soul could carry. yes, kai was an angel, but his ability to love and empathize was beyond any supernatural explanation— it was just the way he was built.
he sat beside you and wrapped you tightly in a blanket, “are you feeling any better? do you want anything? i can go make us some snacks if you want.”
you softly smiled and shook your head, “no, it’s alright. i think i just want to rest. maybe i’ll get some homework out of the way or i’ll just go back to sleep.”
the thought was quickly retracted when something lodged in your throat, coughing only worsening the feeling. kai rushed to grab a towel and watched helplessly as you hacked into the soft fabric, rubbing your back in an attempt to comfort you. when you pulled away, both pairs of eyes directed to the blood splattered across the towel, though before either one of you could react, a white-hot pain overwhelmed your body. your heaved breathes struggled to escape your lips but your agonized scream didn’t. you clutched onto his t-shirt before collapsing into his lap, knocking out cold.
· ──────────────────── ·
after six panic-filled calls with kai, soobin frantically paced around his house— a nice perk of being an elder angel with a lack of guardianship duties. honestly, his job description was pretty vague. he spent most of his time wandering the earth and enjoying the beauty it had to offer. he didn’t have to watch over a human, rather, he watched over younger angels, making sure they performed their jobs correctly, and on the rare occasion, having to strip wings if an angel went buck wild and succumbed to sin.
taehyun’s symptoms were less severe due to his supernatural status— the effects of illness would manifest slower. sure, there were a few times he did nothing but writhe in agony... but it wasn’t as often as you. he was more or less deteriorating from the outside, the illness working its way in. he was concerningly pale and what once was smooth, hydrated skin was now dry. the rosy, soft lips he used to kiss you with were now severely chapped but he couldn’t find it in himself to care. it was rare that taehyun slept, even with you. he preferred to watch over you, stroking your hair and pressing kisses along your shoulders while you dreamt, but lately, he’d been so drained of energy and all he could do was sleep.
soobin watched the younger curl up and shiver despite being under three wool blankets. something about this specific situation seemed oddly familiar to soobin— the way both you and taehyun were deteriorating at an alarming rate. the sickness worked oppositely amongst the two of you, his illness painfully manifesting exteriorly and working its way in versus your illness which began internally. similarly, your pain stemmed from the torso and worked its way to your extremities while his began in his limbs and worked its way up to his chest. it was the same disease but it worked inversely, and soobin, for the love of god, could not pinpoint why he felt like he’d seen this before.
soobin hesitantly made his way onto his back patio, wanting the younger to sleep in peace. the chill air was refreshing especially with taehyun’s rising body temperature warming the living room, making it insufferable. he plopped onto his old, rickety rocking chair and closed his eyes, drowning out everything but the bird’s chirping. the wind lightly brushed against his skin comfortingly and he welcomed the gentle touch. it was calming, the way the leaves rustled amongst the golden sky— he wished the world was always this peaceful and serene. a small brush against his ankles revived him from his near-sleep state. when he peered down, there was nothing but the wooden boards under his feet but he swore he felt a distinct touch. a lightbulb flickered in his mind.
“oh shit.”
as if the world was falling apart, he scrambled back into his house, realizing the familiarity of the situation.
“taehyun, taehyun, you need to wake up,” he shook aggressively. taehyun didn’t budge, instead, he let out a small, annoyed grunt of acknowledgment. soobin continued, “taehyun, you need to get up. i know why you’re sick.”
the declaration seemed to wake the younger but he didn’t display much enthusiasm due to his unabated exhaustion. he cautiously opened one eye and grumbled as if that sufficed as a good response.
soobin scratched the back of his neck and continued nervously, “um, well, you see... you’re... soulmates.”
taehyun slowly sat up and leaned against his elbows, narrowing his eyes in disbelief. he shook his head, he’s kidding, right?
“no, i’m being completely serious,” soobin deadpanned as if he could read the younger’s thoughts.
“fine, humor me.”
“god, it was such a long time ago, but when i was young, i went to a beach. wait. no, it was the woods. yeah, the woods because there was a willow tree. anyways, it was windy and—”
taehyun quickly cut him off, “bin, you’re rambling and not making any sense.”
soobin inhaled deeply, regaining his thoughts before starting again, “okay, when i was younger, i came across an old, prophetic-like scripture. it told a story of soulmates that were separated from each other and because they weren’t together, their physical and mental state deteriorated. uh, there was also something off about the ending... it was pretty wack. it kind of warned me about another set of soulmates... i don’t really know how to explain it, but i think you and her are the next set.”
taehyun audibly scoffed. a bewildered expression covered his face as he eyed the older as if he weren’t in his right mind.
“hyung... soulmates... hate to break it to you, but they... don’t exist,” taehyun tried explaining slowly, hoping his pace would make soobin understand.
“aiya, stop talking to me like i’m a child. i didn’t believe it either but it makes sense. you both have this weird, mysterious illness that’s only getting worse but the only time you felt a bit better was when you saw her a few weeks ago. and yeah, before you say anything, i know about that. you’re the worst at lying.”
taehyun deflated into the couch but not before a harsh coughing fit. his lungs felt so restricted and the air felt thinner.
“hyung, i think i’m dying,” he stated weakly.
“no shit.”
the entirety of this situation crushed soobin. one of his oldest friends, the young boy that loved him like a brother, was dying. it was so painful to watch but he didn’t feel helpless anymore, he knew exactly what to do.
“get up. let’s go see y/n.”
taehyun perked up, just slightly, his energy too drained he could barely move. the older dragged him off the couch and wrapped a wing around the sick boy, trying to keep his shivering, weak body warm.
· ──────────────────── ·
much like soobin, kai was frantically pacing back and forth when the oldest dragged taehyun’s limp body through your front door. sunshine streamed through your windows, brightening the room yet everything felt dull as if all the life and energy in the room were slowly seeping out of the apartment.
“um, she’s in her room,” kai mumbled worriedly.
just from that small interaction, taehyun could see how scared the youngest was, how much he loved and cared for you. he felt grateful and indebted to kai; he was so glad that you had someone like kai watching over you, especially if he was unable to. with little energy, taehyun trudged to your room, the other two boys following closely behind. he opened the door slowly, heart absolutely shattering when his eyes landed on your pale and gaunt frame. he could’ve sworn he could see droplets of dried blood at the corners of your mouth. though as ill as you seemed, he couldn’t help the swell of love and energy that surged through his chest now that he was breathing the same air as you. he practically ran to your bed and enveloped your smaller frame in his. he wrapped his arms around your waist and breathed in the lovely lavender scent he’d grown so fond of.
the other boys coughed lightly, feeling a bit like they had stumbled in on a personal moment. taehyun paid no mind to them though, especially not when you looked so beautiful sleeping. he lightly nudged your arm to wake you but when you didn’t move, he peered down at you concerningly.
“hyung, she hasn’t woken up in the past five hours and i’ve tried everything. the only thing i know is that she’s breathing,” kai clarified.
he was right. you were still breathing but it was so faint and shallow, he shed a tear. you were so lifeless and his heart skipped a beat when you took a bit longer than usual to inhale.
“she’s dying,” taehyun whispered to no one in particular. he pulled you against his chest tightly in a weak attempt to warm your frigid body. he stroked your hair and weakly hummed a sweet song, something he always did when you slept.
“bin, why isn’t she waking up? i’m right next to her, i’m holding her in my arms like i always do... she should be awake,” he sobbed. he felt like he was on the brink of insanity, having you so close yet so far. once again, soobin stood helplessly and picked at his fingers nervously. he really had no idea what to do. he thought that being with you would fix everything but it didn’t.
kai spoked up first after a few moments of painful silence, “hyung, i think you need to lose your wings.”
soobin and taehyun glanced at each other before throwing kai a confused look, both intelligently questioning, “... huh?”
“think about it, it makes sense. you might physically be next to her but you can’t truly be with her while you have your wings. with them, you’ll always have something standing between the two of you,” kai explained diligently. soobin stood dumbfounded, the cogs in his mind turning exceptionally slow.
“i think... he’s right. aw, when did you get so smart, huh?” soobin cheekily asked, ruffling the youngest boy’s hair. kai brushed his hand away playfully, blushing softly at the newfound attention.
taehyun felt your body temperature drop and he wrapped you firmly in a quilt. “take them. i don’t want them anyways, not if it means a life without her,” he whispered.
“tae, it’s not that easy, your wings can’t just be taken away in a snap, there’s a process for this. it’s all very... bureaucratic. an elder angel has to approve,” soobin explained softly, not wanting to upset the younger.
“well, it’s a good thing you’re practically ancient, heck, you were alive to have a crush on cleopatra,” kai joked, trying his best to lighten up the somber mood.
“wait, kai has a point. you’re like, a thousand years old, and you’ve been an elder angel for a couple of centuries now. this isn’t some random case of an angel gone wild, the both of us will actually die. please soobin,” taehyun begged shamelessly. the desperate plea broke soobin’s heart.
“you’ll be mortal again, an average human... you’ll die one day,” soobin reminded while slowly inching towards the bed. taehyun glanced down at your sleeping figure, tracing his large hand over your arm. he understood the cost but he didn’t care. he’d been ready to give up his wings long before he met you, but now he had a reason. he brushed the wisps of your hair away from your forehead before leaning down and pressing a gentle kiss.
he looked at the two boys. taehyun thought they looked scared, maybe hurt, or maybe both. he flashed them an apologetic smile but truth be told, he didn’t feel sorry, especially not when it came to being with you. he took a deep breath and sighed, preparing himself for what was about to come.
“do it.”
to be frank, it hurt a lot more than it should’ve, but that was to be expected from an inexperienced elder angel. taehyun felt every single agonizing second of his wings disintegrating to nothing but dust, the only thing grounding him was the thought of you. he clutched onto your body as if you would ease his pain, but in some ways, you did. he entwined his hands with yours and buried his face in the crook of your neck as the pain grew increasingly worse. though still unconscious, your breaths grew rapid, matching his, like you were experiencing the same aching pain as him. when his wings were fully gone, soobin and kai shared the same pained expression— they had lost their brother, but the idea of taehyun’s happiness did much to quell their hurt. taehyun smiled to himself, feeling free after so long, and entangled his legs with yours. he pressed his lips to the back of your head softly before a familiar darkness washed over him, gently lulling him to sleep.
“he’ll be okay... right,” kai asked, his worried expression growing more concerned with each fleeting second.
“yeah bub, he’ll be fine. both of them will be. they have each other,” soobin gently confirmed. he circled an arm around kai’s shoulder and ruffled his hair affectionately.
“you did good, kai.”

you woke up first with a dull ache between your shoulder blades and a warm body pressed against your back. you remained oblivious to his presence, your mind trying to reel in the events that occurred before you fell unconscious. the pain in your chest was practically gone and you felt lighter as if a weight had been lifted off of you.
it wasn’t until he slightly stirred behind you that you realized his presence, the familiar scent of cinnamon and nutmeg suddenly overwhelming your senses. you were scared to turn around, you almost believed it was another realistic fever dream but your instincts told you otherwise. when you looked at him, he was still asleep, his beautiful features softened by the sunlight streaming through the sheer curtains. you nearly shed a tear as you delicately traced a finger down his sharp jawline, fearing he would dissipate into thin air at even the slightest bit of pressure. he seemed livelier. his skin was clear and glowing, the apples of his cheeks were painted pink, and his overall appearance seemed healthier.
his eyes fluttered open, your gentle touches peacefully waking him up. immediately, a deep sigh of relief escaped from his lips. you weren’t just some beautiful dream; he was finally next to you, his home. you didn’t say a word but judging from your trembling lips, you couldn’t even if you wanted. your mind ran rampant but all you could think about was how you were back in his arms. you didn’t notice the tears falling until you felt the pillow beneath you dampen. he pulled you into his chest and threaded his hands through your hair, pressing gentle kisses along your forehead. your walls broke and you sobbed into his chest, overwhelmed with the grief of losing him but also with the joy of being back in his arms.
“it’s been so hard, tae. it’s been so hard without you.”
he closed his eyes and sighed, “oh baby, i know. but i’m here now and i’m never going to leave you again. i promise.”
you ran your hand along his back, stopping when you hit the area where the base of his wings usually started. even when he hid his wings, there were still two visible slits that sat between his shoulder blades, but you could neither see nor feel them anymore. you tensed and swallowed harshly, “um, where are they... where are your wings?”
you already knew the answer but his answer still shocked you.
“they’re gone... i’m not an angel anymore, but please don’t worry, i promise you i’ve wanted to be human for so long. it’s just, because of you, i finally had a good reason to give them up.” he meant every word he said. for the first time in his life, he felt free and unhindered. as an angel, he was able to see the world, meet new people and he loved it but he’d been alive for so long and as much as he truly loved caring for others, he felt lost, almost hopeless. at least until he met you.
you were confused and left with a lot of questions but you didn’t quite know what to say. he wanted to answer all of your questions but he’d gone so long without your lips on his so he leaned down to press a gentle kiss. you let a soft sigh escape, the feeling of his touch after so long was both relieving and comforting. he soothingly ran his hand along your waist, the other threading through your hair. there were so many things left unspoken but the kiss was able to say it all. when he pulled away, you were left breathless and dazed. he kept his face hovered over yours and his eyes shut, wanting to savor the moment.
“i love you,” you whispered.
he missed hearing you say those sweet words. his hand gripped your waist and he shyly smiled, “i love you too.”
honestly, you’d miss his wings, though the more you thought about it, they symbolized his immortality and his inability to truly be yours.
“so... i guess this makes you a fallen angel,” you hummed.
“i guess so since i’ve fallen for you,” he mused cheekily. you lightly pushed his shoulder, his corniness making you cringe, but you couldn’t help the obvious blush that dusted your cheeks. he chuckled softly, entwining your hands once more and pressing a light kiss to your temple. you smiled at him, realizing you were granted a second chance— a bright, wonderful future where you could grow old with him.
“i’m home,” he whispered against your skin. you let out a content sigh as you curled into his chest and closed your eyes, listening to his steady, human heartbeat.
what a beautiful way to begin the rest of your lives together.

Nothing's gonna hurt you baby|t.h.
Tumblr media
A/N : something special for this special day heheh I hope you like it! It's a little different from what I've done before. Also I'm sorry for any mistakes. I love youu(you can listen to the song if you want to,trust me you won't regret it it's in the end)
Warnings : fluff and a little smut
_
She woke up hearing the birds singing outside, flying, being free. Her eyes blinked from abrupt contact with the bright sunlight and her head switched to the other side. Although she just woke, she felt exhausted and barely moved. Her cheeks were puffy and her small eyes were like fire. Everything burnt, the worst kind of pain. The sheets were cold next to her. A man's body was missing. Moments from the previous night came to her tired mind,as feelings overwhelmed her heart.
"Babe?"her voice sounded like a melody to his ears."Do you want to watch a movie with me?"his eyes met hers. He couldn't resist to this soul, who was now lying next to him.
"Of course my love, whatever you want"she laughed like a little kid, clapping her hands together. He watched her from behind. Her hair long, covering the half of her back, looked soft and brighter. Her curves, her hands, her legs, the way she was focused on searching a movie to watch. She could literally have any man she wanted or wished for. But she chose him, she was with him.
Their legs warmed one another, her head resting on his chest, going up and down. His lips on top of her forehead, kissing it every two minutes.
She felt the most luckiest girl. His arms wrapped around her, giving the comfort she never felt in her life. Her cheeks hurting from the bright smile she wore and from the heat, causing them to turn into a light shade of red.
None of them was paying attention to the movie. Were lost in their feels. They looked at each other at the same time, giving them a good amount of laughter, before their lips connect. The world stopped spinning. People stopped moving except these two lovebirds. The kiss was slow, expressing their inner feelings. They couldn't  hear anything but their hearts beating at the same tempo. She jumped to his lap, her hands now exploring his chest and neck as his hands were placed to her waist pulling her as much closer as possible. Their tongues fighting now, their hunger to taste each other's bodies.
She wanted to feel him inside her listening to his moans, kissing her neck and whispering sweet words like every other time.
He wanted to feel her around him, hearing her moans, feeling her quick breath to his shoulder, telling her how much he loves her.
In minutes their clothes were on the floor. His tongue rediscovered her body, her breasts, her belly, her pussy. So did his fingers. Every inch was something new. It was like the universe put an effort to make this piece of art that he had under him, moaning at his touch and taking his breath away whenever she called his name.
Her hands were scratching his back and later his curls. She wasn't able to speak from the pleasure she felt at that moment. The pleasure he was giving. He looked like an angel that was sent to this world to save and take her at a better place.
"Tom"she whispered at his ear, feeling him inside her, hitting her spot. He met her eyes only for a moment before she closed them again, leaning her head back and moan his name once more. He was the luckiest man in the world.
Her heart was exploding through her chest, not being able to calm. Her legs around his body, shaking and burning. Her skin was so hot under his touch, it wasn't even possible for a woman to feel like this. He had this power over her and he wasn't even realizing.
In fact he was scared that someday she'll fly away from his arms. She'll find love somewhere else, far away from him. This was the main reason he felt the need to express his love to her always, making her feel good in so many different ways. Kissing her, spoiling her, dancing with her, sing to her, writing about her, making love to her. He saw her eyes getting brighter, her smile bigger, her hugs longer. He knew she was going to be forever his, but still the fear of losing her was present.
Y/n was terrified too. That he will get bored, that his love for her will stop at some point, that one day he might me gone. His arms will hug another person's body, his lips will not longer kissing hers. The thought of it was enough for her to tear up. She didn't want to lose him. He was her soulmate, her world, the meaning in the miserable life she was drowning. He was her savior.
And although they were scared for the other person's feelings, the only thing both didn't doubt was their unconditional love they felt for each other. She was in love with him. He was in love with her. They knew they wouldn't stop loving and cherish the other. They were convinced that this was their destiny, to be in love.
"I love you"their voices blended so well. Their bodies started to move faster and both couldn't breath easily. Their moans filled the entire house, and even further, not being ashamed if the neighbors were able to hear them. They didn't care about the rest of the world. It was just the two of them, in that bed screaming as they were closer to the edge.
They finished at the same time. Tom's body moved to the side trying to catch his breath. She turned to him, placing her head to his bare upper body, giving little kisses.
"I'm gonna make something to eat okay?"she smiled as she watched him breathing hard and barely speak. She was responsible for that, but he did more to her in ways she couldn't express, and probably never will.
A satin robe covered her naked body. She was standing in the kitchen, moving every now and then to take things, add some, throw some others, mixing, baking. She wanted to thank him. He was the only one to take her away and travel in places even God had forgotten. He was the only one to make her smile so much. He was the only one that made her feel so weak just from a touch. He was much more than just a man walking down the streets every day and night. But she didn't know that she was the one that saved him.
When you are feeling lonely, it seems that everyone is happy except yourself. You don't have someone to talk to, share thoughts, laugh with, give your love to. Just silence. And then you start feeling less and less. That's how he was feeling the day she accidentally threw her drink all over him. She became that person he was searching for years. That made him start feeling again. Who knows where he would be of they didn't met there.
He leaned against the door, just watching her cook. Her hair up now, showing her neck that was full of hickeys he left moments ago. Her body so flawless, that made him want to feel her again.
"Y/n"she stopped and looked at him. "Can I have a dance with you?"
"What about this?"he grabbed her hand and started walking to the living room. She laughed a little and waited for him to put a song. She didn't know why his heart desired dance so much. She loved watching him dance around the living room though, he looked like happier like that. And she was always looking at him with a full heart.
His hands pulled y/n's body closer to his. He started swinging and she followed fascinated from him and the way he looked under nothing but the moonlight.
"Whispered something in your ear, it was a prevented thing to say but I said it anyway, made you smile and look away"
Her head was resting on his shoulder, her eyes closed enjoying the dance. Tom's head was resting on the side of hers, his lips next to her ear.
" Nothing's gonna hurt you baby. As long as you're with me you'll be just fine. Nothing's gonna hurt you baby, nothing's gonna take you from my side"
That's how she felt with him. He was the shield she needed. Nothing was getting to her anymore, 'cause he was the one that protected her. She never felt unhappy or worried about things she used to. Tom was the person that made her feel happy, loved, carefree.
And that's how he felt with her. Y/n took the pain away from him. She was there when his friends couldn't. She listened and cared. Only beautiful emotions got through him because of her.
"When we dance in my living room, to that silly 90's R&B. When we have a drink or three, always ends in a hazy shower scene"
He picked her from the ground, her legs around him. She rested her forehead to his looking to his brown eyes, darker that usual. Her butterflies flew inside her entire system. Their lips connected again as their emotions got the most of themThe only thing that bothered him was that robe that blocked her beauty. He wanted to see her from head to toe naked every day all day. She was like a drug, the most dangerous one he couldn't say no to. She was allowed to ruin his life if she wanted to.
They lay down, hunger take over them for the second time. Just with kisses and she was already wet enough.
"Waterfall is overflowed"he whispered to her ear, his fingers playing with her, moans coming from her mouth.
"Nothing's gonna hurt you baby. Nothing's gonna take you from my side"
He was now inside her, the pleasure hitting him like electricity. She was tight around him, fitting him better than anyone. His heart next to hers, his eyes scanning her expressions one by one. Every girl would be jealous from her beautifulness and every guy was wishing to be him right now.
"When we laugh into the microphone and singing, with our sunglasses on to our favorite songs"
They both remembered the same day. Their first road trip. It was a hot summer day, music was loud and they were singing, or dancing, or laughing, or kissing. A day spent away from where they lived, next to a river just the two of them.
She finished first only a few seconds before him. The moon was even smiling seeing their tired bodies come closer, hugging one another. She kissed his lips with lust and mostly love. She tried to make sure he knew she was there for him. And she was staying.
She got up from the bed, sun watching her naked body. She got her robe again and made her way to the living room where she found him. He was standing next to the window with a cup in his hand, only wearing his grey sweatpants. He knew that they would drive her insane and she knew that he was aware of that weakness.
"Good morning baby"her voice made him smile before he felt her hand to his curls.
"Good morning"he kissed her." How was your sleep?"he asked as he caressed her cheek.
"I slept good"she laughed."When did you moved us from the ground?"
"A couple hours ago" he sipped from his cup, pulling her to a hug." I made you breakfast. Well you did last night but something came up"
"Yes I know. What a pity!" she smiled at him before starting running around the furnitures with him behind her.

Broken Me...
Ch. 2
Summery: The Dallas Convention couldn't have come at a worse time for Jensen. His world fell apart earlier that morning, but was expected to just act like everything was normal. You and a friend were at the convention for her birthday. Life hasn't been that great for you either, but a forced meeting on stage changes two worlds. Will you be able to put this broken man back together again...
Series Warings: Cheating, shitty marriage, Danneel is a bitch, I unfortunately have to put that as a warning because some people tend to get turnt up about it if you don’t... Smut, Crying, Suiside Attempt, brief discription of suicide attempt and recovery, depression, hints of self loathing, language. I think that’s it... Suicide Trigger warnings will be placed over each chapter!
Chapter Warnings: Singing in front of a crowd, crying Jensen, freaked out reader I guess? Language.. I think that’s it..

Word Count: 2315
A/N: BINGE READ TIME!! As always all mistakes are mine! Please do not copy my work! Feedback is gold!! Hope you all enjoy this one!!

****MASTERLIST****
Tumblr media
Rob and the band had really outdone themselves tonight, and  you hadn't had this much fun since your ex-fiance had taken you to Austin,Texas when Nathaniel Ratcliffe was playing on Austin city limits.
It had been a long, hard transition to being alone...
You and Damon had been together for almost five years...
Learning how to live 'alone' was difficult to say the least, especially when you thought you had found your person, only to be proven very wrong....
Thank God y/f/n had been letting you crash in her guest room until you got your shit together, because when you two separated you didn’t know what was going to happen to you, or where you were even going to stay....
The two of you had been friends since kindergarten, and she knew you better than anyone else. So she knew not to push you into another relationship with some other douche bag just so that you would 'get over' Damon like the rest of your family were trying to do.
"Okay guys, I know there's one person who you've all been waiting for most of the night."
The crowd was already screaming, and Rob was laughing at the fact that he didn't even have a chance to finish the sentence before the people started screaming.
"Mr. Jensen Ackles could you come out here please sir!!" He yelled into the mic, and everybody lost their minds.
The sheer energy in the room was almost breathtaking..
Jensen came jogging up the stairs, and walked toward the mic as the crowd continued to scream.
You have watched a lot of con videos since discovering SPN, probably to the point of a mold obsession, still on almost all the videos Jensen seemed…. Lighter? Then he did right now.
The smile he wore now was cold, and unnatural.
Forced….
Not quite reaching his eyes....
"Hello Dallas." He all but growls into the mic as the band starts to play the intro to Whipping Post.
In that instant you were completely lost in the music, forgetting about your freating, and your habit of over analyzing everything, and just enjoying the moment .
If you thought Jensen was hot just from watching him on TV, the man looked even better up close, and you were completely lost in him, must like you were sure just about everyone else in the room was. He had this ability to capture the stage, and the presents of everyone in the room. Not to mention he was extremely talented…
You closely watched every move he made, letting the music overtake you, bringing you to a place we're for just a moment there was no pain, no bad memories, no heart break.
Just Jensen and his voice...
As he wrapped up the chorus of the song he came to the edge of the stage. Propping his Foot on the speaker close enough that you could almost touch him.
When he looked down at you a cocky smirk spread across his face, and he winked.
You damn near passed out, and your friend was next to you completely losing her mind. Grabbing your arm, shaking you screaming "Holy shit Jensen Fucking Ackles just winked at you!!"
You couldn't believe it… Surely he was just playing with the crowd, and only winked because he saw the camera sitting between the two of you...
As the song wrapped Jensen and Rob lean over, and whisper something to each other. Rob then looked your way, smirking at you. You didn’t really notice it though, because when Jensen walked back into the house lights you noticed he had the same shirt on as the guy from the elevator….
It was in that moment that you knew he’d heard you talking to Y/F/N about singing with him, and you had this sinking feeling you were about to be fuck, and not in the fun way...
"Shit." You said out loud, and Jensen stood there smiling at you like he'd read your lips.
"What's wrong?" Y/f/n yelled over the noise of the crowd. Noticing the color drain from your face all of the sudden..
"Jensen was in the elevator, he heard our conversation. He heard what you said about singing with him on stage." You yelled back at her over the noise, and to your horror she burst out into a fit of laughter.
You had never wanted to strangle someone so bad, but there was a room full of witnesses, you did make a mental note to get her back for this when you got back to the motel room.
"Hey Jensen," Rob said loudly over the mic. "What about that story you were telling me backstage... About the girls that you and Jared overheard in the elevator on the way to the concert tonight? Something about her friend wanting you to sing with her for her birthday? Wouldn't it be hysterical if they were, oh I don't, right in the front row over there." Rob says pointing right at you.
The spot light following his finger, landing right in you, and if you could have fallen through the floor, and disappeared you would have done it.
You tried to hide by sinking back into the crowd, but to no avail...
Jensen had already walked off of the stage, and was standing only about a  foot in front of you now with his hand out.
"Come on." He says, grinning at you. "It's your friend here's birthday wish after all. We can’t disappoint her.." He gave you another winking, and you wanted the floor to open up so you could jump in. The crowd all started making noises at once, and your friend started pushing you toward him..
Looks like this was happening, and there was nothing you could do about it without looking like the world’s biggest asshole there ever was..
Reluctantly you grabbed his hand, and allowed him to pull you to the stage.
The crowd cheered for you, but you didn't really hear any of that. All you could concentrate on was Jensen's hand intertwined in your own.
Feeling ever callous.
His strong grip.
Your skin tingling wherever his skin touched yours.
"Now if I heard your friend correctly you sing right?" He said, placing a mic in front of you, beautiful forest green eyes meeting your own y/e/c eyes.
"That's what they tell me." You say, never breaking eye contact with him.
"And, if I heard correctly, she wanted you to sing with me as her birthday present." He was smirking at you now, clearly enjoying himself.
"That's what I heard."
You never broke eye contact with him as you two seemed to continue the game of twenty questions he was playing with you.
"Well my final question Ms.?" He said, pausing for you to say your name.
"Y/n"
"Right, sorry, I forgot to ask you that." He threw his head back into one of his whole body laughs before continuing..
"If I heard correctly again she also requested the song Picture, by Kid rock and Sheryl Crow." He finally broke contact with you, and was typing on the tablet Rob had sat in front of him.
"That's what she said." You retort back to him, earning yourself a smart ass look that before he continued…
"Well it just so happens Google was able to knock the dinosaur shit off this ancient ass song, and show us the lyrics." He fired back at you, and the crowd roared with laughter.
"Well I'll be damn why not, I'm already up here." You say sarcastically, motioning around you, and Rob nearly feels backwards laughing at you, Jensen gave you his best bitchface as he motioned to the band for them to start to play.
Your momentary cocky sarcasm faded, and your stomach was doing flips with nerves. Until you heard his smooth yet ruff voice melt into you with the melody. Pulling you into your happy place.
Living my life in a slow hell
Different girl every night at the hotel
I ain't seen the sunshine in three damn days
Been fueling up on cocaine and whisky
Wish I had a good girl to miss me
Oh Lord I wonder if I'll ever change my ways
I put your picture away
Sat down and cried today
I can't look at you
While I'm lying next to her
I put your picture away
Sat down and cried today
I can't look at you while I'm lying next to her
He looks at you and half heartedly smiles. You could tell he was a little nervous as to what was about to come out of you, for all he knew you couldn’t sing your way out of a wet sack, boy didn’t he get the surprise of his life as your voice blended in with the music, sounding almost as good a Sherl herself. Turning he gave the crowd an approving nod, you even got a few cheers out of it..
I called you last night in the hotel
Everyone knows but they won't tell
But their half-hearted smiles tell me something just ain't right
I've been waiting on you for a long time
Fueling up on heartaches and cheap wine
I ain't heard from you in three damn nights
I put your picture away
I wonder where you've been
I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him
I put your picture away
I wonder where you've been
I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him
Jensen was now circling around you, pulling you closer to him with one arm, fully into making a  performance out of this now that he was sure you could do it. You followed his lead not wanting to look like an idiot, facing him now you start with your line again.
I saw ya yesterday with an old friend
It was the same old same how have you been
Since you've been gone my world's been dark and grey
You reminded me of brighter days
I hoped you were coming home to stay
I was headed to church
I was off to drink you away
As he sang his lines to you and you to him you could almost see pain there, and it threw you… When he got to his last line he threw everything he had into it, and a stray tear fell down his face. He quickly duked he face to the other side of yours in what probably looked like a very intimate touch to the crowd, when really he was just hiding to wipe his face. He recovers quickly as the two of you finished the song, and none one was ever going to be any the wiser...
I thought about you for a long time
Can't seem to get you off my mind
I can't understand why we're living life this way
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you
To come back home
I just called to say I love you
Come back home
As the crowd cheered he bolted off the stage, walking as fast as he could toward the stairs, behind the curtain, and out of your sight..
Rob grabbed your hand holding it in the air like you won a wrestling match, but you were pretty sure he was just trying to get your attention away from a fleeing Jensen...
"Y/n and Jensen everybody."
There were cameras, and phones videoing everywhere. Y/f/n was practically hyperventilating in her seat, you were a little glad you couldn’t see the whole crowd, because you were almost sure you would have passed out now that the adrenaline was fading...
When you went to exit the stage off to the side, Richard grabbed your arm and pulled you to the side of the stage out of everyone's view.
"What the hell was that? Why did Jensen run off the stage?" Richard said, and for a moment you just stood there shocked, and confused at his behavior.
Then it hit you, Jensen wasn’t acting like you thought he might have been while you were singing..
He really was crying…
 "I don't know!"
Your Stomach fell to your feet, and you wanted nothing more than to get away from everyone in that moment. Jensen wasn’t acting, something was wrong, and he was trying to hide it, so you weren't about to tell Richard that Jesnen was crying..
Just as you were about to panic, you feel a huge hand grab your shoulder, and Jared’s voice boom from behind you over the music.
"It wasn't you." He said to you, giving your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Jensen’s just got some personal things going on right now, and he needed to get off the stage, he’s fine. Go and enjoy the concert. You were friggin' awesome up there!"
He pulls you into a tight hug, giving Richard a stern look over your shoulder that you didn't see..
“Thanks" you say, hugging him back before  practically running back to your seat. Leaving a very confused Richard to talk to Jared alone.
You slid back into the crow as random people high-five you, and slap you on the back.
You were determined not to tell Y/f/n anything was wrong. Whatever Jensen had going on was obviously personal, and you did not want to be the one to start rumors, or throw him under the bus for people to question him about what was wrong.
So you pushed the worry down and tried your best to slow your rapidly beating heart, determined to keep what happened on that stage to yourself if it killed you...

I freakin adore your writing, like the use of themes and emotions are conveyed so well 💕 you’re a seriously talented writer >///< also I was wondering if you could write a belphie x insomniac reader? I hope you have a nice day or night
A/N: Thank you!!! Sometimes I feel like I take all the themes and flowery language a bit too far so it means a lot that you like it!!! I hope this one works for you
Sleepless Nights, Midnight Flights. {Belphegor x Reader/MC}
Roaming the house at night felt like it was as close to a blessing as Belphegor was going to get.
He felt refreshed, now that he slept as much of the day away as he could; his brothers either asleep or confined to their rooms made the middle of the night feel so free to him.
The air around him was cool and crisp—it felt nice to just stand in front of an open window and let the slight breeze caress his face. Every room in the house felt as though the air had stood still, some parts thick and heavy that felt as though someone had accidentally opened up a different reality, others light and airy without the pollution of people to ruin it that felt as like it’d be a sin to make the slightest of sounds when surrounded by it.
Sounds—that was probably his favourite part of the night, minus the fact he could be physically alone—there were no sounds. Well, that was a lie, but the sounds that came out in the dead of night were peaceful, ones he no longer registered as sounds and simply as part of a feeling deep within his chest. The occasional cry of a night-dwelling bird, the croak of a toad, the screaming of bugs-- he thought they were ridiculous, but maybe they were just enjoying the feeling too—they were all so soft, blending together to such a nostalgic melody. Just one sound out of place would tip him off.
The creaks of the boards beneath his feet were gentle, his eyes wide to see through the hallways clouded in the shadows—now that Beel was asleep, he was going to grab a snack; his ears perked at the faint sound of furniture scratching against the floor followed by the slightly louder exclamation of pain towards MC’s room.
He tiptoed to their door, listening to the low music playing in the background as they swore at some unseen inanimate object. Laughing to himself a bit, he tapped his knuckles gently against the wood and called to them in a whisper.
“MC?”
“...Yes?”
“Are you... alright?”
Through the door came sounds of struggle; MC grunted as though they had been climbing over things, scrambling, cursing following loud thuds. Belphie could tell they hit the door fairly heavily before swinging it open.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” They leaned against the door frame fairly lax to come across calm and collected before rushing to smooth out their disheveled appearance.
Belphie tried to keep his laugh quiet, having to cover his face within his hands for a moment just to calm down. The sight of their flushed face and embarrassed rambling made his heart skip a beat, and he couldn’t hide his smile.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yeah!”
“Then what is it that you’re doing, exactly?”
Looking past them, he could see their furniture tossed around with no rhyme nor rhythm to their placement; shelves and chairs, dressers and the couch, even their bed had taken up any sort of walking space within their room. It was obvious they had to climb over (and through) everything just to get to the door. He could see a piece of a bookcase peeking from behind the door, telling him they had to shove it to open the door.
“I’m... practicing feng shui.”
“At three in the morning?”
“Harmonizing your energies is an activity with no time restraints.”
“Don’t think that’s right.”
They giggled this time, folding into themselves a bit to keep themselves quiet, their hand gripping the door.
“Are ya sure?”
Belphie shook his head with a smile, gesturing to the mess behind them and feigning a disappointed look once they locked eyes with him.
“Disappointing.”
“Listen!” They bit their lip to keep from laughing again, “Okay okay, so I might have just been... rearranging the room.”
Their face dropped and they covered their mouth, eyes wide with sudden realization and a mix of regret and embarrassment.
“Oh no, did I wake you up? I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize I was being so loud, I tried to keep quiet each time I hit my shin on something or when I--”
“Hey, hey.” He gestured to calm them down, “I was already up, you’re fine.”
Resembling something of a confused owl, MC’s head turned to the side, their expression now an innocent bewilderment that Belphie had to look away from due to his heart leaping out of his throat.
“Watch out, I’ll help you move it all back.”
Now, Belphie didn’t enjoy entertaining the idea of manual labour in the middle of his serene time alone, but he was willing to admit spending the time with them was... interesting, to say the least. The dumb jokes they kept mouthing off, over-enthusiastic gestures, there were even a few times they couldn’t help but jump up and down with excitement. Despite their hyper movements and “go go go” attitude, Belphie noticed the exhaustion creeping up behind each flutter of their eyes.
“Done and done!” MC cheered, “Thank you, Belphie.”
“Mm. Going to sleep now?”
“Nah, I’m feeling pretty good, now! If you’re tired you can go to sleep, I don’t mind--”
“I’m not,” he smiled gently, “Do you wanna go somewhere with me?”
“Go... somewhere?” They seemed nervous. “Isn’t it too late to go anywhere?”
“We won’t leave the house, it’s fine. Do you want to go?”
They pondered for a moment, he assumed they were still nervous—he certainly was. Alone—completely alone, he has to add—with MC was... tempting. Sweet, and just out of reach; he could almost taste it, and them.  He started to play with his hair, twisting a few strands between his fingers; he was fidgeting. Anxious, jittery, would they give him an answer already? Any answer would be enough to make his heart burst anyway--
“Okay, yeah.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah! Let’s go!”
Belphie exhaled with a smile, holding his hand out for MC to grab rather enthusiastically before heading through the realm of the quiet once more. A finger to his lips to remind them to hush, floorboards creaking with the tiptoed steps, the very soft, murmured giggles bouncing off of the surfaces.
The small gasp that escaped MC was adorable. The way they ran to the railing of the balcony, leaning over it to embrace the wind—he knew the feeling all too well. Freedom. Peace. Happiness. They turned back towards him and leaned their elbows against it while he crossed his arms and leaned as well.
The two of them just... existed. The gentle breeze, the soft sounds, just the feeling of the presence of one another was ethereal. Seconds, minutes, hours—Belphie didn’t know how much time had passed, and he didn’t care. Moonlight bouncing off of their form, shining in their eyes, enveloping the space around them; Belphie laid his head on his arms and broke the silence with a calm voice.
“So, tell me. Why were you up?”
Their laugh had been a little regretful, something about it sad and tired.
“I’m up a lot of the time, just not as... perky.” They answered, rolling their head to stretch out their neck. “Insomnia. Nothing new, tonight I was just extra energetic.”
“Ah,” Belphie closed his eyes, “I know how that can be.”
Silence once again. Understanding, acceptance, companionship. The air was as light as ever, the sounds a dull hum in the background. Moments passed once again, so comfortable that Belphie hadn’t noticed the lights start to rise and the creatures grow quiet.
“You know...”
Their breathing, his heartbeat, his hushed voice—the only sounds left around him.
“I like being awake—at night, at least.”
He started his thought; he needed to finish it. Tip of his tongue, words gearing up, ready to be spoken. The air between them was so still, open, ready, willing—all to hear what emotions he had to say.
“It’s quiet, peaceful. I get to enjoy myself. I get to breathe. I get to be alone.”
They’re looking at him now, the moonlight that once lit up their eyes now paled in comparison to the shadows the rising lights cast upon those irises. He can feel their expectations, he needs to speak, but how can he while he looked at them?
The peace Belphegor got in the middle of the night was sacred; the ambiance of the time was refreshing, a beloved feeling near and dear to the demon’s heart. The occasional cry of a night-dwelling bird, the croak of a toad, the screaming of bugs; the still air-- some parts thick and heavy that felt as though someone had accidentally opened up a different reality, others light and airy without the pollution of people to ruin it—this air, this time, when everything stood still and everyone had slept, was the most serene, happy, and calm times of Belphie’s life.
“But... I wouldn’t mind being alone with you.”

Embodying Black Joy
Before Black History Month 2021 comes to an end, I want to take this moment to reflect on how significant this time truly is. Although my belief is that Black History and culture should be celebrated throughout all months of the year;  for now, I do believe it is important that we continue to utilize this time to acknowledge the historical feat against monumental odds that Black people have been able to achieve. It is the responsibility of the current and future generations to take what we have learned and keep the momentum going. It is also necessary for us to utilize our talents and gifts to uplift those around us.
As a natural caregiver, I  nourish the people around me by creating and sustaining a community of care, joy & connection. Carnival Spice has allowed me to complete much of this work and I am truly grateful for that. Typically in February months I see an increase in Carnival Spice bookings due to Black History Month. Our most popular offering during this time is our family-friendly cultural presentations that highlight Black culture using dance, fitness and story telling in such a unique way.
I feel so full-filled when leading these presentations - especially when it is for our school-aged groups. Seeing kids of all ages so excited to learn and embrace the richness of Afro-Caribbean culture really motivates me to keep going. I particularly appreciate how engaged they are in the experience and the high vibrations they exude. Though all of our presentations were virtual this year, you could still feel their energy and joy through the screen.
"The most radical and revolutionary thing we can do for ourselves is to connect to joy and to allow ourselves to feel. That is how show up positively in the world and complete dissolve ancestral trauma."  -- Devi Brown
Joy, that deep-rooted inner feeling that inspires that outward expression of happiness... But Black joy goes far beyond that. Black people have contributed so much to this world yet sadly the way we as a people have been treated does not reflect that. Racism, social injustice, and trauma runs rampant plus there isn't enough spaces that allow for healing. Thankfully, joy is a form of healing; and while society often condemns Black people for being "too loud", "too angry" or "too much", revelling in joy is an act of resistance too.
Engaging in Black joy sends a message to your mind and spirit that you are worthy, you are important, and you are loved. We should make a habit of taking inspired action to bring joy into our lives. I put together a few light-hearted lists for you that may help you engage in Black joy daily:
The Beauty of Affirmations
I believe the universe has the power to align us with people, things and experiences that match our vibrations. It is important for us to keep our vibrations high to increase the opportunity of positive attraction. Practicing the act of repeating and affirmations (positive statements) is a powerful way to strengthen our mindset by helping us believe in the potential of an action we desire to manifest.
I encourage you to write out an affirmation related to joy and set it as a as a daily alarm on your phone. When the alarm goes off repeat the statement out loud and be present in the moment and positive energy.
Listen To Music
Music is a powerful tool that unlocks joy. From the beat, to the lyrics, to the melody certain parts of songs just know how to hit our soul. I created a playlist with a mix of feel good songs from different eras and genres - take what you'd like:
Can’t Take My Joy by Terri Lyons
My Dream by Nesbeth
Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See by Busta Rhymes
The Anthem by  Todd Dehaney
Blessed by Wizkid and Damien Marley
Beat of Life by Sarz ft. Wizkid
Jerusalema by Master KG ft. Burna Boy
Skip To My Lou by Ding Dong, Serani & Biggy
Just Dance - Wacky Dip by Ding Dong feat. Voicemail
Go Crazy by Chris Brown
High Life by Machel Montano
Full of Vibes by Voice &  Marge Blackman
Lose Control by Missy Elliot - ft. Fat Man Scoop
Happy by Pharell Williams
Dance Heals
Dance truly does heals and it is such a positive way to embody Black joy. Here are some of my favourite dance moves from the African Caribbean Diaspora - taken from popular genres such as afrobeat, soca, dancehall and hip - hop.
Shaku Shaku (Nigeria)
"Although the dance is credited to Olamide, the truth is that he is not the inventor of the dance. But he played the major role in the crossing over of the dance to the mainstream media. The dance originated in the streets. According to DJ Real, Shaku Shaku name is for street guys, and the dance was named after their particular style of dances when they are hanging out" - Source. The move involves crossing one arm over the other and bringing that same arm toward the ear as if you are making a phone call.
Palance (Trinidad)
In 2010, the world was introduced to the song and dance that is palance. The song by JW and Blaze ’s popularity was established when it took the "Road March" title at Trinidad’s Carnival that year where it was played along the parade’s judging route 417 times. The move involves jumping side to side on one foot at a time while waving yuh flaggg. Back then, soca song's weren't known for having dances - so palance truly broke the mold. We have even seen Beyonce and Justin Trudeau do it.
Krazy Hype (Jamaica)
This mid school dancehall move will always be one of my favourites. It was created in 2003 by choreographer Crazy Hype from the The MOB Dance Group to Elephant Man hit song of the same name. The move involves hopping from side to side but landing on your heels.
Harlem Shake (Us)
The dance was created by Harlem resident Al. B. in 1981. However, in 2001 the dance resurfaced and was renamed when it featured heavily in G.Dep’s music video for the song "Let's Get It". When you hear this song one can't help but get to shakin'.
Enjoy A Movie
Get your laugh on or enjoy a flick that makes your heart smile. While your at it, support a Black art! I have helped you out by compiling a list movies that exude Black Joy.
Soul (2020)
Critics Consensus: A film as beautiful to contemplate as it is to behold, Soul proves Pixar's power to deliver outstanding all-ages entertainment remains undimmed.
Synopsis: A music teacher who dreams of performing jazz live finally gets his chance, only he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.
Soul Food (1997)
Critics Consensus: Much like the titular cuisine, Soul Food blends a series of savoury ingredients to offer warm, generous helpings of nourishment and comfort.
Synopsis: This hit domestic comedy-drama concerned the fortunes of an extended African-American family recalled through the eyes of young narrator Ahmad Hammond.
Love and Basketball (2000)
Critics Consensus: Confident directing and acting deliver an insightful look at young athletes.
Synopsis: A young African-American couple navigates the tricky paths of romance and athletics in this drama. Over the years, the two lead characters begin to fall for each other, but their separate paths to basketball stardom threaten to pull them apart.
Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit (1993)
Critics Consensus: Sister Act is off-key in this reprise, fatally shifting the spotlight from Whoopi Goldberg to a less compelling ensemble of pupils and trading its predecessor's sharp comedy for unconvincing sentiment.
Synopsis: In the sequel to the hit comedy Sister Act, Whoopie Goldberg reprises her role of Deloris Van Cartier, a Las Performer. It appears Deloris is needed in her nun guise as Sister Mary Clarence to help teach music to teens at a troubled school in hopes of keeping the facility from closing at the hands of Mr. Crisp (James Coburn), a callous administrator.

There were a total of five OSTs released for Gundam Wing (the fifth was dedicated to the music of Endless Waltz, which will not be covered in this post or this playlist). Caitlin asked if I (Cathy) would create a playlist of my favorites. I didn't think she expected I would also write a novel. But here we go.
Let’s listen to some of the music of Gundam Wing!
(All song titles will be described with their English name and also the strangely romanized Spotify name.)
There are three main categories of Gundam Wing OST songs: (1) shoot 'em up fighting tracks which usually feature loud riffs, drums, and blats and blares coming at you at the same speed and frequency of mobile suits firing pointlessly at the Gundams, (2) instrumental, orchestral songs meant for the intermission period of a ballet that was never written or performed, or (3) synthy stuff with saxophones that wouldn't be out of place in a dingy rainy bar scene of a tame movie from the 80s. Most of the really recognizable tracks are in the first OST. OST 2 tends towards less interesting instrumental waltz-like stuff, Sanq Kingdom ballroom music as I've termed it in my head. They're fine, tolerable pieces of music, but you don't hear them and instantly think "Gundam Wing." By the time you get to OST 3, you're digging into the really deep cuts of Gundam Wing OST tracks, some of which I don't remember being in the show at all. (OST 4 is almost entirely character songs.)
We open with two of the best OPs—nay, songs—to have ever been made, "Just Communication" and "Rhythm Emotion," both by TWO-MIX. "Rhythm Emotion" was not, as you may have imagined, a mid-season swap-out. It was only used for about 10 episodes, and you may have even forgotten what it sounded like until just this moment, but "Rhythm Emotion" is no slacker. With alien, wintery synths that make you feel like you're soaring through the sky and between enemy mobile suits, this is one of those songs you would hear heavily remixed for knock-off DDR machines in arcades for years to come. The breakdown is cheesy, overemotional, and yet gives me the same goosebumps I would feel, years later, when listening to Love Live's "Snow Halation." Its more accomplished older sister, "Just Communication," dates itself from its opening note, but it owns its place in time and history unapologetically. Timeless, instantly recognizable, and eminently singable, you could, as Caitlin says in Episode 1, play this in a karaoke room full of randos and you're guaranteed to have someone scream along. There are some songs that make everyone feel like the star of their own shounen anime when they hear it, and "Just Communication" is one of them. Turning it up full volume in your car is like blasting "Take My Breath Away" while speeding on a motorcycle with a leather jacket. You are invincible through all 4:20 minutes of this song.
After that, perhaps one of the most famous instrumental tracks from the series: "The Wings of a Boy that Killed Adolescence / Shisyunki wo Koroshita Syonen no Tsubasa." (That boy is Heero Yuy. I know you know that, but this OST makes it explicit with its last instrumental track, "Code Name Heero Yuy," which is just another version of this melody.) There are a lot of songs like this, fighting tracks that hurry along at a clip, heroic but a little bit anxious ("When the Dragon Swims / Ryu ga Oyogutoki...," "Break Out," "Scattering Left Light / Kakusansuru Zanko" which barely sounds like music and is clearly hoping to be the soundtrack to your next laser tag game). I want to call out among them "Mission Accomplished / Ninmu Suiko," which has a last half that is so tied in my head to the world of Gundam Wing that when I hear it, I am instantly transported. It's almost a letdown that it's just an OST track, because it builds up such amazing tension that it releases just as quickly. "Mission Accomplished" is a bridge between these energetic tracks and more headbang-y, hard metal type fight songs like "Use the Cloak of Darkness / Kurayami Karano Tsukai," one of my all-time favorite guitar riffs from the GW OSTs. A lot of OST 1 is full of this "Enter Sandman" type stuff, though you still get reprises in the later OSTs, like "Well-Planned Tactics / Butsuryo Sakusen." The back half of "Cloak of Darkness," though, is a completely different track, this time pure fascist military fantasy. A lot of OSTs were like this, two short BGMs together masquerading as a one- to two-minute track. I'm not sure if it was just more expensive to list out a bunch of 45 second tracks, or if Otani Kou just ran out of emo names for all of them.
One thing I didn’t realize until this project is that there are no less than five variations on Relena’s theme in OST 1 alone:
Soft Hair and See-through Eyes / Yawarakana Kami...
Inside the Girl's Heart... / Syojyo no Mune no Oku Niwa...
To Beauty, to Elegance, and to Noble-mindedness / Karen ni Yuga ni...
I Feel Like I Can Cross Even That Rainbow Bridge / Ano Niji...
As Relena Peacecraft / Relena Peacecraft Toshite
When you've heard one, you've heard them all, so I’m putting on "Soft Hair...,” the wonderfully 80s and slightly boozy "adult contemporary" version of it, completely with a Kenny G sax. The others feel much more pure and dignified, especially "To Beauty...," which I think of as "waltz music" as it shows up in many of the early series' ballroom scenes. ”Rainbow Bridge..." is a worthy remix/variant, and for another similar boozy 80s feel, also try "Coolheaded Bloodthirstiness / Reitetsu na sakki" from OST 1. While I’ve left most of this playlist in chronological album order, I’ve moved up "I Believed We'd Meet / Kanarazu Aeruto Shinji” from OST 3. This track is not particularly noteworthy to me, but I leave it here as an example of how even later in the series, Otani Kou makes references to this refrain, even if it's not played note for note.
Because like any good soundtrack, Gundam Wing reuses themes and motifs. "Searching for Peace Buried Amid the Corpses / Shikabane ni Umoreta..." and "That Clown Doesn't Need Make Up for Tears / Sono Doukeshi..." share the same melody, only one is a fighting song and another is a mourning song. I actually like the rendition in "Hourglass of a Sad Color / Kanashimi-iro no Sunadokei" (also from OST1) better, but while "Hourglass" is a straightforward BGM track, "That Clown..." shows off one of the more interesting aspects of the Gundam Wing OSTs: its frequent blending of synths, cheesy sax, and more classic orchestral strings. You can hear it in second half of "That Clown...", but also in tracks like "Unknown Pressure / Michi no Pressure," or OST 3's " Behind The Scenes of The Blackout / Anten no Butaiura de," which is a typical "woe is me" orchestral track that is for some reason constantly interrupted by digital "beep boop" mumblings. Without that blend, you're left with a lot of grave-sounding tracks with bombastic Phantom of the Opera-worthy brass sections, like "Soldiers Who Don't Have a Gravepost / Bhyounaki Senshitachi" or "Legend of Zero / Zero no Densetsu." Not that those songs are bad, which is why I include the last of the instrumental tracks from OST 3: "Who Will Give Their Life / Darega Tameni Inochi," which takes itself very seriously and very earnestly, just like the show itself.
One of the other frequent moods of these OST is anxiety, perhaps no better demonstrated than "You Can Hear a Voice Calling the Soul /Tamashii wo Yobu Koe ga Suru", which has a guitar emitting screeches of existential despair. “Signs of Consciousness / Ishiki no Taido" is from this same school, but its second half is more "I am walking into a rave already a few minutes into what I know is going to be a bad trip," which is not really a mood I remember from the series itself. By the time you get to OST 3, you start venturing into tracks that wouldn't be out of place in a horror film. You can hear an example of it in "The Eyes of a Mobile Doll / Mobile Doll no Me," which is on this list because it sounds like a fever dream, but you could also check out "The Abandoned Horse of the Age / Jidai no Sutegoma," which is not on this playlist and has the same effect. Some of them, like "I Don't Like Fairytales / Otogi-banashi wa Sukijyanai," are inspiringly atmospheric, almost hypnotic. Is Gundam Wing horror? [Treize Voice] Yes, the Horror of War.
Some quick call-outs in the odds and ends group: “Tokimeite Harmony” is the 3x4 theme, a literal duet between a violin and a flute, and it’s there for that reason and that reason alone. I could not tell you for the life of me where in the series “Yasuragi no Hitotoki...”, “Kizuna,” “Sonzai Syomei,” or “Kioku no Gyakuryu” come from, but they sound like beautiful tracks from a video game I’ve never played. Similarly, “That Day Was The Last Day I Saw Your Smile / Anohi Saigo ni Mita Egao” is uncharacteristically fluttery and beautiful for a Gundam Wing OST piece, an almost Ghibli-esque track which nevertheless ends on an anxiety-inducing note of unrest.
And finally, the character songs. I leave you with one for each of the six main characters, and then a bonus.
Heero Yuy: "With Only My Words / Oredake no Kotoba de." Did you expect Heero's singing voice to sound like this? Neither did I. I have no idea why they thought this was a good image song for Heero. It's not. I leave it here because you must listen to it. The better "sounding" song is "Flying Away," which shows up in this CD later, but it doesn't give me the same dissonance as this one.
Duo Maxwell: “Wild Wing.” "Good Luck & Good Bye" is the superior song. (there's a little bit of Wang Chung “Everybody Have Fun Tonight" to it), but the sheer hilarity of this chorus (WILD WING BOYS!) means that i have to include it.
Trowa Barton: “Clown / Doukeshi.” What to say about this? This is a typical ballad, something you may play during a romantic moment of a kdrama or during the slow motion death scene in a Hong Kong film that would be released around the same time as GW was. I feel bad for Nakahara Shigeru who clearly is straining himself singing this. but it is nothing if not period accurate.
Quatre Raberba Winner: “Star’s Gaze / Hoshi no Manazashi.” Poor Orikasa Ai. Quatre’s voice is passably bishounen in the series itself, but it's hard to hide that his seiyuu was a woman when it came to the image songs. That said, her voice has a much fuller quality than her fellow pilots, and this is actually a decent-enough filler song. You could imagine debuting an idol maybe in the late 80s with this track.
Chang Wufei: “Knock at Tomorrow's Door / Asu eno Door wo Tatake.” If Wing were a kpop group, Wufei would be the rapper. You don't get to argue with me here. It's hard enough to imagine Wufei actually singing, but Ishino Ryuzou's singing voice also doesn't bear that much resemblance to the voice he adopted for the character.
Relena Peacecraft: “Love is Not Crying Yet / Ai wa Mada Nakanai.” One of the most unexpected of the image songs is this bossa nova inspired track for Relena. Like Orikasa's ballad, this song almost works as a real song, and the purity of Yajima Akiko's voice is incredibly charming, which makes it all that more surprising that she's actually best known for being the seiyuu to the eponymous Shin-chan of Crayon Shin-Chan.
I do not include the image songs for Zechs and Treize, simply because they're boring. Both of them are extremely well-known and popular seiyuus, who have since done a number of musical projects. You can tell that they will fare better at that endeavor than Trowa’s seiyuu, but there's really nothing interesting to say about their songs. As always, the men of Gundam Wing are shown up by their female counterpart: Lady Une's "Brightness & Darkness" is positively anthemic and fun to listen to. Sayuri doesn't hit all the notes perfectly, and you can sense there is Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks impersonator out there who could really knock this one out of the park, but if I were to keep one image song out of the whole bunch, it'd be this one.

ONE NIGHT AT MR. DRY'S

Nothing ever happens on Wednesday. Well, there was always something happening, especially in New York, but those ‘somethings’ barely amount to anything worthwhile. Like cogs and sprockets within an automaton, everyone and everything just simply are, evermoving and existing in uninspiring mundaneity, especially on Wednesdays.
What was typically a place of raucous revelry and evenings filled with unbridled guilt, Mr. Dry's would sing a different tune that night. Despite the speakeasy only occupying a small space hidden behind a wig shop, enough for about twenty or thirty people moving and bumping into each other at a time, having it be occupied by no more than ten patrons almost makes it seem as spacious as the Plaza Hotel lobby. Most of the space was reserved for the dance floor and the stage, but there were no patrons wearing out the surface of the dance floor tonight. The band wasn't there either, save for the pianist playing a soulful, delicate tune to match the serene ambience of Mr. Dry's.
Connor Brannigan was a pale man with a long, severe face, and a mess of auburn hair like the autumn foliage in Central Park. He wore a lose-fitting dark grey three-piece suit and an untied bowtie hanging around his neck. He looked to be in his thirties but he was actually just in his early twenties and he had his stern and serious visage to blame for that. He was a difficult man to read at first glance but his eyes and hands, both gentle and passionate, would tell you a different story. He could play the liveliest upbeat melodies with the rest of his band on the weekends, one might even catch a glimpse of a smile on his face too, but it was on slow days like these when he preferred to play the most. He was practically playing for an empty room, but the pianist's demeanor and focus was the same as he would have any other night. Though he seemed to be quite a daunting person at first, he was not exactly a difficult man to connect with. Like any other man, he reacts quite well with the right kind of drink.
Behind the marble bar in the far side of Mr. Dry's stood its proprietor and only barman for tonight, Magnus Bane. He appeared to be quite the respectable young man with his perfectly coiffed hair, sharp bright eyes, and prepossessing smile, though no one would imagine someone who looked as young as he was would own the joint. He was wearing a gothic-style, midnight blue waistcoat over a white dress shirt that's unbuttoned just enough to expose his bare chest. The sleeves were rolled up to this elbows so it wouldn't restrict his movements as he mixed drinks. He filled in the shaker in his hands with ice then poured in some whiskey and a chilled, strong brew of earl grey tea. He capped off the open end of a shaker and shook it so that it all blends well together as he hummed along to the tune that Connor was playing. He poured out the light rusty brown liquid into a glass pint then topped it off with ginger ale and stirred it before setting it on a tray. He filled up another glass with just water and let it sit next to his cocktail concoction before putting up the countertop to get to the other side of the counter. He skillfully picked up the tray with one hand then made his way towards the stage.
“Your drink, sir,” Magnus called out with his most charming smile as he approached the pianist, setting his drinks on the coasters placed atop the piano. Connor turned his head to face him without interrupting his playing.
“Thanks, Boss,” he smiled and nodded at him in acknowledgement.
He kept playing, even with one hand, as he took a swig off the drink, inhaling the spicy scent of the whiskey cocktail. Magnus called it The Piano Man in his head since the colour reminded him of the pianist's red hair and the taste of his fiery yet firm passion when playing. Magnus hasn't exactly been a fan of redheads before or green eyes, but people who had a penchant for music and the arts in general have appealed to him. There was just something about the way they made him feel safe and loved even without saying a word. It's a shame what happened to his fiancée, but even after five years he has never taken his ring off. Magnus admired him for that.
As soon as Connor set down his empty glass and went back to playing with both hands, he smoothly segued into a slightly more upbeat and soulful tune compared to the slow and serene one he had been playing. The pianist's expression subtly lit up which made Magnus perk up a bit as well. No one was sitting by the bar right then as the few people in attendance were satisfied with the bottles of beer they had on the tables, so Magnus thought to stay with Connor for a moment. They didn't speak, if one could believe Magnus capable of not speaking for more than a minute, but he was more than satisfied with just listening to Connor play.
“Magnus Bane!” came a voice that echoed throughout the room. Magnus recognized it but did not want to hear it at all, not when it was one of the few quiet nights of respite he had at Mr. Dry's. Connor seemed to know who it was too as he simply said, “Good luck,” and punctuated it with a light chuckle.
After getting a pat down from the doorman, the young man who called out to Magnus followed him back to the bar area. He looked to be barely even legal to drink but he was very clearly made of money and people like him normally think they were above the law. His name was George Vanderbluff and was the shining example of the privileged. He had blonde hair combed neatly, parting towards the right. He also had bright, ocean blue eyes which Magnus would normally be enthralled by, but on other people, not George. He was wearing a loud, yellow, patterned full suit lined with jewels at the lapel and a vest to match but he did not wear any dress shirt underneath. He was adorned in fine gold jewelry around his neck and his hands and wrist and just generally stuck out like a sore thumb. If Magnus was going to be honest, he thought the young man was looking quite tacky even for him who, on special occasions, liked to be adorned in all things glittering and sparkling.
“Magnus, my friend, I see business is slow these days,” he spoke in an annoying, nasally voice with a terrible imitation of a Trans-Atlantic accent. Or at least that's how it sounded like to Magnus.
“It's a Wednesday, George, unlike you some people have jobs to busy themselves with,” Magnus replied as he returned to his post behind the counter.
“You wound me, Magnus, is this how you treat your customers?”
“Not normally, no, only with you.”
“I feel special.”
Magnus really disliked George. Not so much as loathing him but he did feel like he was a massive nuisance. He didn't like the way George would treat him. He was trying to be nice to Magnus which wouldn't normally be bad but not when George, just like any other bored elite out there, was currently into foreign exotic cultures. And Magnus being the closest “foreign exotic person” he could find, meant that George was very much interested in him. Despite all that, Magnus was in no position to have him be blacklisted lest he wanted to risk Little Georgie to run and tell daddy—who was quite close with a certain Officer McMantry—about Magnus's little speakeasy. And so he had to endure a little inconvenience, hoping George tires of his fleeting flights of fancy in the exotics soon.
“Will you be drinking or do you plan on wasting both of our time?” Magnus asked, his arms folded across his chest.
“Easy there, Mags, be nice,” said George as he leaned against the edge of the marble bar. “I brought the friend I mentioned before here tonight, see?”
True enough, he did bring someone along with him. Magnus completely missed him on account of his attention and ire have been directed towards George. Unlike him, this new person was dressed simply and sensibly in a white dress shirt and red tie underneath a brown blazer that was a little bit tattered around the edges, and he also wore black slacks and shoes. Thomas Wagner, George said his name was and he had chestnut brown hair, a lovely set of hazel eyes behind his square, thick-framed glasses, and an apparent burnt scarring on his neck and jaw, something Magnus wouldn't want to ask about, or until the third or fourth drink perhaps. Why a seemingly-ordinary young man was friends with George was beyond Magnus.
“Pleased to meet you,” Thomas smiled stiffly as he shook hands with Magnus. His grip was just as stiff as his smile and he felt a bit jittery, like he was nervous or something. It took Thomas a couple of seconds too long before he broke away from the handshake. Perhaps he really was nervous, Magnus thought, but for what, he didn't know.
“Give me the usual, Magnus, and one of your very best for my cousin.”
Magnus rolled his eyes shut immediately got to work. The sooner George gets his fill, the sooner he might stop talking to him. George's ‘usual’ drink was called The Prick's Drink in Magnus's mind, because he was of course a massive prick.
“George told me all about this fun operation you got here,” said Thomas.
“You do know that the main point of this ‘fun operation’ is secrecy?” Magnus was looking at George as he started mixing together equal parts of vodka and rum in a glass jar then followed it with a hefty amount of squeezed lemonade they had in stock.
“Oh, you don't have to worry about me, sir, I haven't any friends to tattle things to,” Thomas smiled. “That sounded less pathetic in my head.”
“And that's why I brought my dear cousin here to check out the place before throwing him here 'round the weekend. Fancy schmancy scientists like him ought to be going out more,” George spoke, but Magnus was barely listening, he was filling the jar with ice until it reached its neck before capping it off tightly to shake it and mix the contents until it looked frothy.
“So you're a scientist?” Magnus asked as he uncapped the jar and poured in the icy, frothy, yellow liquid into a glass goblet, and garnished it with a couple of mint leaves before sliding the glass towards George.
“A physicist, yes,” Thomas began and then he continued talking about the kind of work he did.
George laughed and looked at Magnus symapthetically thinking that he might get bored with Thomas's talk of quantum mechanics and equations but he was not. He very much preferred that than listening to another word coming out of George. Magnus would even throw in questions which the physicist was very much excited to answer. Suddenly, he felt grateful for actually listening to Ragnor and his Royal Society friends over coffee all those years ago.
Thomas did a lot of talking but unlike George, Thomas was actually quite pleasant to talk to. He even told him about how he got his scar from an experiment that went awry back in his university days. He was also genuinely interested in what Magnus was doing as he watched him fix him his drink which involved mixing together moonshine, spiced rum, and lime juice in a shaker. Thomas was amused when he saw Magnus also put in a couple of dashes of Tabasco sauce in there as well as honey. He didn't think any of that fit with alcohol but Magnus was more than happy to explain his methods. George would sometimes throw in a few quips here and there but they would remain largely ignored. After some vigorous shaking, Magnus poured in the lime green liquid in a pint glass until it was all in. He picked up the glass and put it under one of the taps behind the bar and filled the rest with a clear, carbonated lemon-lime liquid of Magnus's own making.
“Here you go,” Magnus spoke brightly as he set down the pint glass back to the surface of the marble bar then gave it a little stir before pushing it towards Thomas.
Magnus watched him expectantly as he gulped down from his pint, hoping that the physicist would react well to it. As he drank, his eyes widened and when he set the glass back down a smile formed on his face.
“This is really good,” said Thomas. “It's sweet but I feel it pack a punch and—woah, I think my head just throbbed a bit.”
“Let's call it The Quantum Punch then,” Magnus smiled.
The three of them talked more a bit afterwards, with George finally sounding a lot more tolerable now that he had a drink. By then some of the patrons who had been there on separate tables have started to leave, a few times calling out to Magnus just before they go and he would tell them that he'd be expecting them in a couple of days. Even Connor followed soon after and went home. Not long after that, George already had too much to drink. Thomas held on just fine though and they had the same amount and kind of cocktails to drink.
“We should get going,” Thomas said.
“Good, I can't stand your cousin anymore, and it looks like he physically can't stand anymore either,” said Magnus, looking at George, knocked out and slumped over the counter yet still somehow standing. As soon as he said it he almost regretted it not for George's sake but because he thought he might have offended Thomas. But Thomas just laughed and said,
“Sometimes I can't stand him either, but it's just the money talking, he's a good kid.”
He helped George out from literally slumping over the counter and flung his cousin's arm around his neck as he carried his weight beside him. George still had the sense to walk, or more accurately wobble, next to his cousin.
“See you around, Magnus!” Thomas called out without looking back. He faintly heard him say, “Morning, ma'am,” too and when he looked up from cleaning up the glassware there he saw a woman making her way towards the marble bar sporting a nurse's uniform, a black coat over her white dress uniform and a nurse cap still pinned to her hair.
“That funny looking blonde, was that your admirer?” she asked as soon as she reached the bar and leaned forward and rested her arms over the countertop. She wasn't blue—the literal shade of blue—today as Magnus had observed. She had skin of dark brown and instead of her silvery white hair, her hair was as black as a raven. That was her go to look when under a glamour for the mundanes.
“My greatest nuisance, yes,” Magnus replied as he took out a couple of fresh old fashioned glasswares and set it aside. “But he was kind of alright today, his cousin Thomas was quite nice.”
“Do you like him?” she asked as she unpinned the cap from her head, letting loose her raven hair, flowing like the invisible currents hidden deep in the ocean. Magnus was gathering half-and-half, condensed milk, instant coffee, chocolate syrup, and vanilla at the same time.
“I don't like every well-mannered pretty boy I see, Catarina,” he said as he began pouring in the ingredients he just gathered into an electric blender, mixing them at low speed for half a minute.
“No, but you'd think they're the bee's knees,” Catarina teased. Her elbows were perched on the counter and her hands joined together underneath her chin as she grinned knowingly at Magnus.
“Well, he was,” he replied as he filled the two glasswares he set aside earlier with ice. “How are things at St. Mary's?”
“Where do I even begin,” said Catarina then let out a heavy sigh of exhaustion before she got started on her story.
It wasn't an easy job being a nurse at a children's hospital, even more so when you were one of the few ‘coloured people’ working there since a lot of children of colour going in there don't get the same treatment and care as the white children. Helping those kids was one of the main reasons why Catarina decided to have her glamour be of someone who was a person of colour. She was already technically coloured originally and while her warlock mark wasn't specifically her point of prejudice, she was still someone who can sympathize with those mundanes, especially the children, who would experience a lot worse.
As Magnus was listening to her, he started pouring about an ounce of black coffee liqueur in each glass then filled the rest with sarsaparilla. He then topped off both glass with the crème liqueur he concocted in the mixer. He called this one The Graveyard Shift. He listened on to her as she recounted how her day went all while drinking with her. He would refill it every now and then with the black coffee liqueur and crème liqueur until the very last drop, most of which were served to Catarina since between the two of them, she was the one who needed to relax and let out her weariness.
Before the sun rose, it was finally time to close up shop. Catarina helped Magnus with cleaning up, both sneakily using their magic under the doorman's nose as they did. As soon as they were done, they all came out of the wig shop, which would be open for normal business in a few hours, and parted ways to go home.
Wednesday didn't turn out to be as uneventful as Magnus had originally thought, perhaps he was wrong in thinking that nothing ever happened on Wednesdays. It would seem that Thursday should be the one to take that crown, as he had experienced after opening up Mr. Dry's the next night. He couldn't hardly wait for Friday, he thought, that's when the fun begins and that's when Magnus—and the rest of his weary-hearted, wayward patrons—would begin to shine and live, there in the mundane world's own brand of Downworld.

My favorite Kpop releases in 2020
Girls - Nature
Girls by Nature is my favorite Kpop release of 2020 because of the mystery the song gives. The song makes you anticipated with what the solution is but it never gives it to you and you want more. This isn’t a bad thing especially with the music video. This music video was creepy but it was creepy mostly because of the mystery aspect. Throughout the music video, you keep asking yourself why or what and towards the end none of the questions are answered. This song also gives me a nostalgic feel from old Kpop in a way but it fits so well with 2020. The song itself, just kept bringing me in and the music video as well. When I first listened to this song, I was left in confusion because of how the music video ended. I kept listening to the song and watching the music video to figure it out but nothing. The song itself is just a really interesting song and the music video brings alive the song even more. If you watch the music video there two versions one normal and the other one uncensored. If you watched the uncensored trigger warning, there’s blood, there’s stabbing and mental distress throughout. Nature had a release before this called Oopsie My Bad and that song I liked but it wasn’t enough to bring me in but Girls did that for me. I’ve listened to videos with this song on a hour loop and the sad thing is, I never noticed it being that long because I just enjoy the song so much. This song truly captured my attention and I’m interested to see Nature’s future.

Dazzle Dazzle- Weki Meki
Dazzle Dazzle by Weki Meki was such a cute song and it just makes me smile when I listened to it. Dazzle Dazzle aesthetic in the music video was something that I loved and the outfits as well brought the song more alive to me. Weki Meki had a successful year and all the title songs they had were also some of my favorites of this year. I picked Dazzle Dazzle to be my favorite out of the others because it’s so playful and it was something I was actually craving this year. I love all types of concepts but I couldn’t help myself wanting a cute song and this song gave me that. Not only is the song cute but the dance is also very cute and it matches the song perfectly. It's a song that I play when I clean because it makes it more fun or whatever I'm doing fun. I hope Weki Meki gets more recognition in the years to come because their dances and raps are some of my favorite within girl groups.

Monster - Irene and Seulgi
Monster by Irene and Seulgi made me feel like a vampire killing men at midnight but looking sexy. The beginning of the song is already eerie and it drives you in with the loudness of the bass. Then Seulgi starts singing and it makes you feel like your captured in a trance. Seulgi’s voice throughout the song is one of her best vocal performance to me because it shows her technique and how well she can use it. The deepness of her voice brings out the sexiness the song has and it’s only the first line. Then Irene’s voice comes in with a deep and again sexy voice but it’s softer then Seulgi’s. Irene’s voice through the song isn’t battling selgui and vice versa. Their voices match perfectly for the song and the concept itself. This song and naughty was my favorite but I picked monster as the winner because of how much I loved the overall themes in the debut. The music video brought out the monster within the girls and throughout the video, it’s a battle of dominance. Monster is literally one of my favorite releases and I listen to it almost everyday, it’s a strange lullaby but I don’t fight it.
Tumblr media
Scream- Dreamcatcher
Scream by Dreamcatcher is my second favorite title track by Dreamcatcher and this track rocked the kpop scene gathering more fans and getting more sales. The beginning of the song starts off with a track from Lord of the Rings or any final battle sequence. Dreamcatchers voices are soft and beautiful making the instrumental more demanding, the contrast is what makes every Dreamcatcher song so good in my eyes. The chorus of the song has a devil voice in the background that you hear but don’t truly notice it until later on. The rapping also comes in and it fit so well with the song, it just gives another layer of the song. The devil voice comes back with Gahyeon voice, as if the demon is within her as she sings it. Then towards the end the devil is just part of the song and it makes it known that it’s always been there. I actually had a hard time deciding between Scream and Boca because both were fantastic but Scream won because I enjoyed the demons voice in the song and the beat of the song itself. Boca is also a really good song and I recommend to listen to it but back to scream. The lyrics of scream as well talks about how words can hurt and how it just makes you want to scream because of it. The devil within the song is the people that are sending the hate and towards the end they gain control back even if the demon's voice is still heard. Scream is a good song if you want to pretend your fighting or you just want a song to make you feel empowered.

Not by the Moon - Got7
Not by the Moon by Got7 is my second favorite Got7 song because its beautiful and the music video is one of my favorites that came out this year. Dare I say it, this is my favorite boy group song that came out this year. Let me start off with the melody of the song first, the melody itself just screams royal and elegance to me. Something that I’ve seen in Got7 is the transition into more mature songs and how much I love the transition being so organic. On my favorite album list, Breath of love: Last Piece is there and I talk about how JYP didn’t touch it but within this JYP touched it. Even though JYP touched it, it doesn’t mean I hate it. I wanted Got7 to have the chance having creative outlook for once on a title track. Now back to Not by the Moon. This song made Got7 vocals sound so beautiful and it also gives their vocals a mature sound. As a person that went to a film school, the sets in this music video is so well done. The sets themselves are seen to be extravagant and at the same time simple, the sets don't clash with one another and they fit perfectly with each other. The music video and the outfits sold the theme of royal and it made me like it even more. But now let me thirst over JB in this era. Did you see that man? His outfits and his hair gave me everything. It got so bad that youtube was just showing fancams of him during this era and yes, I watched every one. Not only that, when he was dancing in the background with him being the fine piece of man he is; kept catching my eyes and I couldn’t focus on Young-Jae or Yugyeom. Thirst session over. Not by the Moon is a good sequel to the maturity that You Calling My Name gave and I can't wait to see more by Got7 in 2021.
Tumblr media
Wannabe - Itzy
Wannabe by Itzy was the first Itzy song where I didn’t have to listen to it more than once to like it. With DALLA DALLA and ICY, it took awhile for those songs to become my top in my playlist. With the first listen of this song, I knew this was going to become my favorite by Itzy but then Not Shy came out. Wannabe and Not Shy were neck to neck in my book but Wannabe won because of the tune itself. The tune of the song does such a good job on showcasing their voices that there is no battle between them. Wannabe wasn’t something I expected with Itzy after ICY, I expected a song close to ICY but was given the opposite of ICY. Itzy theme is self love and being different, this song is continuation of that theme. This song does what DALLA DALLA does with demanding eyes to be on them but does it in a slightly more mature version of Itzy. The song still is playful but to me it has a sprinkle of mature in it. Now let's talk about the legendary shoulder move. This move changed my life, just watching it being done was so satisfying and I can't explain why it was. The dance break is my favorite dance break within Itzy, it's just so cool to see them move. Wannabe is a good extension if Itzy's themes and I can imagine it becoming a staple in their discography.

Dream of You - Chung Ha and R3HAB
Dream of you by Chung Ha and R3hab was a song that made me the hoe in me come out and I wanted to dance. It was so hard to pick what Chung Ha song I wanted to put here because all of them are so good and so different from one another. Stay Tonight gave me club kid, Play brought the dancer out but I was wearing a red dress in this one, Bad Boy was a easy song to listen to with two different voices that blend well together and then Dream of You. Dream of You brought out a different reaction, I was shocked because of the dancing that was on my screen and then the lyrics. When I heard Chung Ha say lingerie, my mind combust and I was just stuck replaying that part. The song does a good job to show Chung Ha voice but not only that shows her dancing skills that never fails to impress me. With every release she has, I know I’m going to get the full package no matter what. Somehow, she always raises the bar with her music videos, outfits, dances, and her vocals. I know she has Covid and I hope she has a speedy recovery, I also hope theres no long term effects on her health from this. I think Chung Ha is on her way making herself a legend within Kpop and I can't wait to see that for her.

Yours - Chanyeol, Raiden, Lee Hi, Changmo
Before I get into the song, Chanyeol in a suit with nothing underneath his jacket and the only thing I can see is two necklaces makes me want to become a flight attendant. Not only did he give me that look but he also gave me ripped jeans and a blazer, this man is going to give me a heart attack and I'm going to say thank you. Anyways, Yours by Chanyeol, Raiden, Lee Hi and Changmo was a song that I played the most at night because Chanyeol’s and Lee Hi’s voice was so soft that it could easily put you to sleep. This was my third most played song of 2020 on Spotify for good reason. For starters Chanyeol is my man and I gotta support his hoe ass but another reason is just how peaceful this song is. I had a hard time because I wanted to put Minimal Warm because that was another song I listened to at night and is currently on my 2020 favs on itunes. The hoe in me wanted to give both but I realized that Yours won because Chanyeol rapped in the beginning of Yours and I am a simp for rapper Chanyeol. The song just makes me feel like we're driving to the beach and making a small video when we get there. This song was a light hearted summer song and boy did it make me fall more in love with Chanyeol's hoe ass even more. Lee Hi's voice is a nice addition that makes the song feel even more light and her voice is just nice and smooth. Changmo rap also didn't change the song and it continue the them of light hearted summer song. This song is my lullaby most nights and Chanyeol I miss you on instagram.

Helicopter - CLC
Helicopter by CLC was another long awaited comeback and there was fear because there was a rumor that disbandment was going to be CLC'S next step. I waited for any news and then I saw Yeeun on Good Girl and it made me realize a comeback is coming. When I heard the second teaser of Helicopter, I knew I was going to like the song and I was right. This is one of the best comebacks of 2020 in my opinion because how long we waited for it. Helicopter is as song that I think defines CLC as a whole with the lyrics, the dance, the attitude, and the music video. "I go up in the sky Jumping over the time and space, I changed everything for this moment. A night covered in a veil, passing through a long day. I’m gonna make it big, no doubt. There ain’t no star that cannot shine, let’s hang out at the top." I think these lyrics express everything we want CLC to achieve and what they want to do as well. This song is their driving force to become better and no matter they will reach the top. This song gives you the empowerment to do anything and never give up just like CLC. I'm excited to see more from them and make sure to check their covers, my personal favorite is fly me to the moon.

To be or Not to be - Oneus
To Be or Not to Be by Oneus wasn’t the song I expected after A Song Written Easily because of how different they are. The shock on my face when I saw the teaser for it and the excitement I had because it was new for them. I’ve been a fan of Oneus since they debuted and they’re actually in my top ten boy groups. Their past songs have been dark but To Be or Not to Be was truly one of the darkest songs that they have done. The music video showed off the darkness of the song so well that it didn’t feel like a music video but a movie. This is my favorite music video that came out in 2020 because of the production and the sets that was in it was just so beautiful. The music video is more story telling then other music videos that they have done but it matches at the same time. The rapping in this song was so good, it demanded attention and the deep voices they had just matched so well with the song.  The dance that they had with this song truly blew me away and there parts in the dance where I was shocked, the throwing of the members just matched the song so perfectly. Now lets talk about music video. This music video again was my favorite music video that came out of 2020 because of the story telling it had. In the very first shot, it was light from the sunlight and they were seen wearing white clothing at table with a white table cloth but when the song starts the scene changes into a darker scene. In writing, white is the symbol of purity, innocence and simplicity so when the scene changes to black, you can still see them wearing white but the environment is darker now. As the song moves forward it transitions between the dark and the light. Within the music video, there's flashes of red and red is seen as a overlay in some parts. In film and writing red is the color of anger, passion, love and desire. The useage of red throughout the video makes the song comes more alive. I'm going to stop talking about the music video now because I can just go on for hours on it. The music video and song blend so well with each other that it truly does feel like your watching a movie. I hope they can continue this film work in later videos because it made the song even more special.

Hmph! - WJSN Chocome
Hmph! by WJSN Chocome was the song that I wanted all year and then I was given it, after complaining. See when you complain sometimes you just win and this is my example of that. I can say how playful this song is but I don't even think that word does it justice. This song was so cute and adorable when I first heard it I fell in love with it. In the beginning the song is already bringing you in with the unique beats that I have never heard before. The music video matches the weirdness of this song and it takes the cute to the next level for me. In the music video it shows the dance and the dance is so cute with the song. The whole song, music video, outfits, and dance is the cutest thing I have seen this year. I hope WJSN does a concept like this in the future or maybe another song by WJSN Chocome because I love it and i support the idea of it.
Tumblr media
La Di Da - Everglow
La Di Da by Everglow is such a contrast to the last comebacks that they had in past but at the same time it fit with the concept they have established for themselves. When I heard La Di Da teaser I was excited because on my favorite album list, The Weeknd album was my favorite of 2020. This song gave me the vibes of blinding lights and I enjoyed it. Not only that but the part Everglow, forever lets go was the most unexpected break of a song that I have heard but it's my favorite. I hope that becomes their intro when they do interviews because its a cool saying to me. The raps brought more depth to the song and it made love Aisha even more. The outfits of this era was so pretty and I like anything with sequins. The dance had voguing in it and being a huge fan of drag queens, if I see any type of voguing I’m living for it. I know Sihyeon and Yiren tested positive for covid and I hope for a speedy recovery and I also hope this doesn't cost long term damage.

could you make a headcanon about the soulmate of Shu? I loved the others about Carla and shin and I want one over my favorite diaboy uwu 💕 thank you
Here you go anon, thank you for your kind words and sorry for the wait ^^;;  For anyone who is not familiar with my soulmate AU:
General setup: Set in a universe where everyone has a soulmate and there are various different connections between soulmates. Vampires (and Founders) have been known to have human soulmates. Generally the connection between a vampire/founder and their soulmate will not kick in until their soulmate is born and will fade after their soulmate dies. It considered unusual for a vampire to meet, let alone be with, their human soulmate.
Shu Sakamaki
Connection with soulmate: whenever your soulmate listens to music, you can hear it too.
- For as long as you could remember, you’d been able to hear classical music. It wasn’t all the time, however for the infrequent periods you went without it, a sense of loss overcame you. Sure, it was annoying at times but you were so used to the melodies pouring into your ears that without them, everything felt far too quiet and bleak.
- When you’d first spoken to your parents about being to hear music, they’d exchanged a glance before immediately taking you to the doctor. It was then, after you’d been given an examination to check there was nothing physically wrong, that you learned it was the result of your connection to your soulmate.
- As you got older, you started to become interested in other types of music and would experiment with listening to different styles. Sometimes they clashed horribly with the classical music your soulmate favored but on rare occasion, the two melodies would blend to form something much greater than either of them were alone.
- When Shu had first started to hear strange music overlaid with the classical melodies of his mp3, he’d assumed Ayato was trying to screw with him. However, upon repeated denials from the younger Sakamaki, and even Reiji commenting that no such sound could be heard, he’d realized that was not the case. Shu was no fool, he knew he wasn’t going mad and that there was only one other reason why he’d be hearing music nobody else could. It was a type of soulmate connection, unusual in its nature but not unheard of. Although that didn’t mean he wanted any part of it. The music he could hear was modern and solely human in it’s origin, meaning it was very likely his soulmate was too. The last thing he needed was to be tied to someone else, especially someone fragile and mortal.  No, his days of seeing humans as anything more than food had long since passed. And so he ignored the foreign sounds, knowing that if the person responsible for them was mortal as he suspected, they would vanish just as abruptly as they had appeared.
- One day, you had the idea of using lyrics to try and communicate with your soulmate. While you loved the form of your connection to them, it wasn’t as simple as knowing their name and being able to look them up on social media, meaning ultimately, you had no idea where they might be or how to find them. But if you could find the correct clips from different songs and blend them together into a single track, then maybe they could do the same to respond and you’d have a way to find them. Finding the various pieces you needed and editing them together took time, but you knew it would be worth it. Eventually you’d managed to produce the message ‘Hello, can you hear me? It’s your soulmate, please respond’. The way it switched from one tune to another was jarring and sounded terrible but hey, it was something.
- Once it was finished, you sat in front of your laptop and had the tune play on repeat while you did some homework. Or rather, you stared at your homework as you anxiously awaited any sign that your plan had worked. It should, you were sure it should, but it didn’t stop you from tapping your pen against the desk impatiently. Come on please, you thought. You waited and waited but the classical music remained constant, with no sign your message had been heard at all.
- Shu winced when the strange jumble of tunes assaulted his senses. Damn, he hadn’t thought you’d be able to contact him like this or even try to. It was clever, but the naivety in sending that message was just another reminder that you were human. No vampire would bother. He had no intention of encouraging this and so instead of responding as you clearly hoped he would, he just turned up the volume on his mp3 player and closed his eyes, trying to block out your message and everything it meant.
- At some point exhaustion must have gotten the best of you, as you woke up to the sun streaming through your curtains and a stiff neck from sleeping at your desk. And still, the classical music you were so familiar with continued; if your message had been heard, there was no reply.
- You repeated your little experiment a couple more times but each time you did, you grew less hopeful it would work. You tried different combinations of songs leading to different messages but with the same overall tone. After a few months you were ready to give up, but thought you would send a final message regardless, assuming they could even hear it of course. This time however, you composed the music yourself. It was a relatively simple tune that you’d taught yourself to play on the piano with only a single lyric towards the end ‘I really want to meet you’. You had no idea if your connection would allow your soulmate to hear your own singing but you didn’t exactly have anything to lose.
- As your fingers pressed down on the keys to produce the last notes of the melody you’d made, you realized how utterly stupid this entire thing had been. There was no certainty your soulmate had even been awake to hear it and even if they had, they were just as unlikely to respond to it has they had been the first dozen times you’d tried to get a message to them. As you stepped away from the piano in resignation, the soft violin piece your soulmate must have been listening to just stopped. The silence held for a brief moment before the violins resumed. You weren’t entirely sure you were breathing. That couldn’t have just been a coincidence, could it? The timing was too perfect. But then again it was only a pause, it hardly counted as a message and if they’d been able to hear you and chosen not to respond all this time... With a heavy sigh, you closed the lid on the piano. You weren’t going to keep hounding someone who wanted nothing to do with you. It was up to them now.
- Shu had been lying on his bed when a piano melody caught his attention. It was clumsy, but not unpleasant. No, he didn’t want to hear this, he didn’t want to think about how it was probably your fingers gliding along the keys. He’d become so numb to so many things that it shouldn’t affect him, not your ridiculous clumsy messages, not this. And then he’d heard your voice and his breath hitched. It was lovely, so so lovely. But that didn’t matter, you were nothing to him, just another human with the irritating ability to disrupt his music and his rest. As the final notes of the piano faded, he breathed a sigh of relief and ran his hand over through his hair. For once, even his own music sounded too loud, too much of a reminder of this unwanted connection and so he paused it. He lay there in silence for a moment before it suddenly occurred to him that this was too soon after you’d stopped playing. It was far too much like something that could be interpreted as a response to your actions. Shit. He pressed play and shut his eyes as music surrounded him once more, trying to erase the memory of your voice.
- The offer to study at Ryoutei Academy in your senior year came out of nowhere and, in retrospect, you probably should have realized there was something suspicious about it. A friend of your parents had told you about it, explaining that not only would you be able to attend the prestigious night school, but it was accompanied by a free home stay, made possible through some arrangement with the church, regardless of whether the student taking part was religious or not. It was too tempting to say no.
- As soon as you met your hosts however, you heavily regretted your decision, and that was before you found out they were really bloodsucking monsters. Your entire life had been turned upside down and any attempts to escape were met with brutality. Some days, the music that had been with you all your life was the only thing that kept you going, the only lifeline that there was a world outside of the nightmare your life had become.
- Shu thought little of you at first, just as he had done with every other sacrificial bride that had crossed the threshold. There was something about your voice that had made him pause when you’d first stepped over the threshold, it sounded almost familiar. Ultimately though, it didn’t matter and he’d dismissed the thought as soon as it had formed. He’d cornered you and taken your blood the few times you’d been stupid enough to approach him but that was the extent of your interactions.
- One day, as Shu was slumped against the wall of one of the school corridors, a familiar piano tune interrupted his music. He sighed, you’d played that same tune several times since that last futile effort you’d made to communicate with him but, fortunately, you didn’t sing at the end anymore. Shu made an effort to tune you out when the bell rang and students erupted from their classrooms. What a pain; he didn’t want to move but they were loud and annoying. Before anyone had the chance to notice him, he teleported to one of the rarely used music rooms and froze.
- You were sat at the piano, fingers tapping out the same melody he’d been able to hear on the other side of the school. No, it couldn’t be. His luck couldn’t possibly be this bad. It would have been one thing to pass by you in the street and forget about you but for you to be a sacrificial bride... He teleported out of the room and into the empty music room next door. It shouldn’t matter. He’d never cared about the suffering of a bride before, and he had no intention of starting to now. But that didn’t stop him from picturing the way Kanato would drive a fork through the fragile hands you’d used to play the piano or how Ayato would delight in making you scream yourself hoarse. And Reiji, if he found out... No, Shu would not care and in no time at all you’d be gone, just another part of his life he drowned out with music.
- For weeks afterwards Shu avoided you. If he needed blood, he just got it from a random girl at school and the mansion was large enough that it was easy to go days without seeing you. Reiji was right, he was spineless but it didn’t matter. All he had wanted to do for years was to sleep and forget and that hadn’t changed.
- Shu should have known he couldn’t avoid you forever, but he didn’t expect to enter his room one day to find you partially unclothed on his bed with Laito leaning over you, fresh blood on his lips.
“Ah, Shu, would you care to join us? Little bitch here made a bit of a mess in my room so I had to take her somewhere else.” Your eyes were half glazed but you still turned to look at him, desperation on your face. Shu looked away.
“Get lost Laito, go bother Ayato or something.”
“Oh, but I don’t think you’ve fed from little bitch recently, have you? You must be thirsty and right now she looks ever so delectable.” Laito ran his tongue up the side of your face and you flinched.
“I don’t care, do this somewhere else.” Shu hoped his tone was uninterested enough to convince Laito he had no intention of participating in one of his games.
Green eyes narrowed briefly, and then the casual expression was back.
“Hah, well she’s reached the point where she’s a bit unresponsive anyway,” Laito grasped your chin, tilting your head to look at him. “Until next time, little bitch~” And then he was gone, leaving you sprawled on Shu’s bed.
“Get out.”
You blinked at him slowly. Damn, Laito had probably taken too much blood for you to be able to walk back to your room. Shu didn’t have the energy to bother to take you there himself. So much for avoiding you. He’d slept in the same bed with other brides though, it meant nothing. It would mean nothing with you too.
Shu lay down next to you, and felt you tense in response. Apparently you still had enough awareness to know to be afraid of him. Good. He shut his eyes with the intention of going to sleep when he felt you start to shake next to him. Shu was used to trembling humans but they weren’t exactly conducive to rest. Just this once, he swapped whatever piece of music had been playing through his earphones for softer melodic piece, knowing you’d be able to hear it too. After a little while the shaking stopped.
- Shu became aware of two things when he woke up. Firstly you were already awake and were staring at him with an alertness you’d lacked earlier. Secondly, only one of his earphones was still in, the other rested on the pillow beside him, the music from it audible to both of you.
“You’re... you’re my soulmate.” Your voice was barely above a whisper but it still sounded too loud. Shu covered your mouth with his hand and with speed rarely seen from him, moved on top of you.
“Shut up, you can’t let anyone hear you say that. Do you understand?” He hissed in a low voice. You nodded and he moved his hand away.
“Reiji?” You’d been around the brothers long enough to know of the antagonism between them. Shu inclined his head in conformation before sighing heavily and rolling off of you.
“Now that you know, can I convince you to stay away?”
“No, besides you make it sound like you’re the worst thing here. I’d take you over Laito any day.” You pulled a face. “You’re shit at responding to messages though.”
Shu snorted. “And you have terrible taste in music.”
You let out a soft ‘hmph’ and sat back against the pillows “So what do we do now?”
“I don’t know,” he admitted. Part of him still wanted to scare you off, to avoid you and any sense of attachment you might bring. But it seemed whatever force had paired you together would not be defeated that easily. Shu glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. This entire affair was a huge pain but at least, he supposed, you could be worse.
Here’s a link to Carla’s and Shin’s. Feel free to request a set for any of the other boys ^^

Secret-Diary Recommends Some Music
I’m not exactly a ‘music person’, in that I don’t know a lot about the mechanics that underpin it: I couldn’t look at sheet music and tell you what the tune is or describe the change in chords in a classical piece. I’m not even 100% sure what the difference between a Ukulele and a Banjo is, aside from the fact that one is played by coquettish islanders while I get shit-faced on Pina Colladas in the background and the other is played by Louisiana bootleggers from the 1920s with comedy accents. All that being said, I know enough to know that the overwhelming preponderance of music produced today is total crap. Every time I’m foolish enough to tune a radio to a musical station, there’s a new barely-pubescent twatwipe peeping about their feelings in a tupperware voice that strongly suggests they don’t actually have any. Either that or its some nominally grown-ass man or woman singing something that they imagine is sassy and empowering but actually just makes them sound like Gary from World’s End- only less charming, because immature, quasi-literate manbabies are infinitely more annoying when they’re real. The point is, it’s a fucking wasteland out there. Trying to find a band (from now or the past) who you’d actually want to listen to can be a chore. That’s why, as your gracious patron and benefactor, I’ve decided to share the fruits of my musical explorations with you and hit you with some recommendations. I’ve tried to be as eclectic as possible, since I want everyone who reads this to find something they’ll like, no matter how radically divergent their individual tastes are. Some of the entries on this list are famous, some are obscure and some were famous but have been made obscure by the passage of time. I’ve tried to limit myself to people whose music you might not be fully aware of, even if you’ve heard of them to some extent, but I’m not plugged into what is and isn’t popular with peeps nowadays, so don’t read too much into my choices if they seem either too obvious or too bizarre. Here goes.
1. The Orion Experience An ultra-camp synthesis of New Romantic music, bubble-gum pop and modern vocal stylings, The Orion Experience are unlike anything else you’ll have heard recently. They seem to borrow as much from the original Decadent tradition in art and literature as from later musical iterations, meaning that their lyrics are complex and sophisticated without being especially deep. They’re primarily concerned with building aesthetically-interesting and richly-evocative language-constructs rather than performing an emotion that no-one in the band is actually feeling. The deliberate artifice is deeply refreshing in a musical landscape of faked sincerity and forced emoting. I recommend starting with the songs The Cult of Dionysus and Sugar. If you like those, the rest of their stuff may also interest you.
2. Trace Adkins During an attempt to write a wild west/sci-fi fusion novel, I went on a musical odyssey, looking for apposite songs that would gel well with the world I was building (knowing a world’s soundtrack can help cement that world in your imagination- try it, if you’re a writer yourself). Anyway, I stumbled across Trace Adkins- a country singer with a palpable sense of humour about being a country singer and a knack for delivering a silly-but-well-turned phrase. Also, without getting technical, his tunes just flat-out rock. I have no idea how well known he in the Country and Western World, but since his existence came as news to me, I’m sticking him on this list. Start with the surprisingly sexy Honky Tonk Badonkadonk and graduate to Hot Momma and Whoop a Man’s Ass. You’ll know if it’s your sort of thing from the first minute of any of those songs.
3. Caravan Palace Have ye heard of a thing called Electric Swing? If you’re reading a blog post about music, you probably have, but just in case you haven’t, let me tell you it’s a fantastic genre. Imagine if The Great Gatsby owned a synth and took a fuckload of mind-squanching hallucinogens. Well, that’s Electric Swing. Few do it better than Caravan Palace, who also seem to borrow heavily from club music and other genres, adding these to their unique blend. For some pure Electric Swing, start with Susie. For something a little more modern, start with Lone Digger.
4. 11 Acorn Lane Speaking of Electric Swing, I can also recommend 11 Acorn Lane, whose lyrics can be a little more playful than those of Caravan Palace. They also have a somewhat more classic sound. Start with Let’s Face it I’m Cute for a great sample of their work.
5. The Fratellis Now, my UK readers have almost certainly heard of The Fratellis, since they actually got some traction on mainstream radio over here. I’m less sure about those of you reading along in America, so allow me to make an introduction. Their music is joyously and unapologetically grimy and proletarian, paring an unrivaled sense of fun and energy with a sly, low-key feeling of cynicism and detachment. The tunes and melodies evoke Rock, punk and New-Wave (think The Ramones by way of The Proclaimers) without wholly relying on any of them. Check out Chelsea Dagger or Henrietta to hear them at their most gleefully up-tempo-yet-jaded, or try Vince the Lovable Stoner for a more chill, tongue-in-cheek song.
5. Dionne Warwick You’ve probably heard of her in connection with There’s Always Something There to Remind Me, especially since it featured heavily in that one fantastic episode of Black Mirror. However, you might not have realised just how much she’s contributed to musical history: her soft-yet-powerful voice and classic Rock rhythms and tunes combine to create something archetypal yet unique. Leap right in with Do You Know the Way to San Jose and discover a fucking legend.
6. Rufus Rex Ever wanted to hear a freakishly talented man singing songs based on horror films and books (particularly the works of H.P. Lovecraft) in a style that evokes Goth music but defies genre on closer inspection? Then get your arse over to Rufus Rex and start plumbing the nightmarish depths of horror-music with the song World’s In Between.
7. Studio Killers Contemporary electronic music with surprisingly inventive and weird lyrics. That about sums up Studio Killers, really. Look, not everything on this list can be genre-transcendent or epoch-defining: some things are just very good examples of the type of music they belong to. If you haven’t heard of them, start with the song Eros and Apollo then check out Ode to the Bouncer, then compare and contrast: those two songs represent the two opposite edges of the musical spectrum they cover, so if you like either one, at least some of their songs will be for you. Also, treat yourself to the music videos on Youtube: they’re surreal and awsesome.
8. Fishbone A punky ska band from back in the day, Fishbone are on this list for one reason and one reason only: Party at Ground Zero. Party at Ground Zero is an upbeat, gloriously energetic song about nuclear war. It’s a total jam and you absolutely have to experience it for yourself.
9. Tomska Tomska... isn’t technically a professional musician. He’s a Youtube comedian, short-film maker and collaborative animator who became internet-famous for his ‘ASDF movies’. On the off-chance that you haven’t seen them, they’re short collections of animated skits and jokes rendered in a simple but immediately-compelling and recognisable style. Anyway, Tomska decided to create fast-paced, catchy songs about some of the recurring characters in his ASDF movies, and those songs turned out to be fucking amazing- being both laugh-out-loud funny and actually really musically ambitious and well put together. Check them out on his channel. I’m particularly fond of Mine Turtles, but you do you.
10. Paul Anka Big band and jazz musician Paul Anka once set out on a quest to create 1920s-sounding versions of famous rock ‘n’ roll songs and the results can only be described as ‘eargasmically epic’. His versions of Jump and Eye of the Tiger are, frankly, better than the originals.
Right, that’s everything I can thing of for now. I’m going to go make myself a big sandwich. By the time your read this, I’ll be settling down with two-slices of bread, some cheese and an unreasonably large amount of cranberry sauce. All the songs and bands in today’s entry are on Youtube, so go have a nosy. Until next time, peace out and fuck off!

Review: Midnight by Set It Off
Okay let's just get straight to it. Yall know I’m a slut for Set It Off. This is just gonna be me going in-depth into all of my favorite parts of the songs and lyrics. Les go
1. Killer In The Mirror
This has been a bop since DAY ONE are you kidding me????? The sampling? The sheer amount of fuck you energy? The fast part during the pre-chorus? The DROP for the chorus? Cody saying “knock ‘em all the FUCK out” adds 10 years to my lifespan every time I hear it.
Favorite Lyrics: Now I know, there’s no one I can trust I used to think there was Tell me that I’m cut throat- I think you got your eyes closed Feel the fear, and swallow back the tears Let weakness disappear There’s nobody but me here- the killer in the mirror
We been knew this shit goes hard NEXT
2. Hourglass
YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW BAD THIS DESTROYED ME WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT. The fucking,,,, instrumental!!! The beat!!!! Cinematics is on the phone and she said this is it chief!!!! God!!! Like can we PLEASE talk about the nananas during the bridge?? It’s such a small thing but it adds so fuckin much to the song,,,, unbelievable
Favorite Lyrics: I'm falling through the hourglass And I don't think I'll ever make it back So I throw stones at walls I'll never climb Victim to the sands of time
This is also such like? Such a defining song for the sound of the whole album, if you think about it. Quality shit
3. Lonely Dance
ANOTHER one we already knew slaps. The guitar? The trumpet? Iconic. This one has such a fucking Vibe. Also???? So relatable. Cody came through with the social anxiety moods and I owe him my life for it.
Favorite Lyrics: Some days I’m up, some days I’m down Some days, the world is way too loud Some days my bed won't let me out But I’m okay with missin’ out on the social anxiety Out on the phony friends I don’t need So I just turn off my phone, turn on TV Cause solo’s the only way I can breathe
Okay a great song but OLD NEWS let’s get to that Fresh Content
4. Different Songs
Possibly the danciest song on this album. The fucking guitar riff and the bass? The melodies? The harmonizing in the bg of the pre-chorus and the bridge? It all blends together and it’s SUCH a bop. The most poppin song about falling out of love I’ve ever heard
Favorite Lyrics: We once called it love, devolved into lust Jealousy speaks out to silence the trust We temper our words 'cause we're scared of the truth Humming tunes that we can't get through
5. For You Forever
The instrumental in this one KILLS me. So do Cody’s vocals, honestly. He really poured his heart out into those “forever”s and you FEEL it. This one really hits me in the heart tbh. The whole theme of giving up on something that you want so bad is big oof
Favorite Lyrics: She said; “I won't wait for you forever, for you forever So, don't you say it's for the better, it's for the better 'Cause I can't take later than never, later than never No, I won't wait for you forever”
6. Dancing With The Devil
THIS SHIT IS SO BRUTAL. Like even the opening- the distorted vocals,,, god. And the lyrics! So fucking pissed off. Cody once again KILLS the delivery. I will never be over the emotion he puts into every song he sings. And when that hook hits the second time with his normal vocals and then the distorted version UNDERNEATH? Hits so hard. Don't even TALK to me about the rap part god. Also,,,, idk if this is about who I Think It’s About but like either way,,, go off sis
Favorite Lyrics: You try to act as if you're saving me But you wouldn't cut the rope if it was hanging me I'm sick of people saying what you sow you reap 'Cause I've been counting down the minutes of that, so to speak Think of all the hours and hours of grindin’ That would turn into sour findings As I wonder if our resigning is becoming the silver lining But I’m not a coward, I’m fighting Cause if they’re the meat, then I’m biting So go ahead, ignoring and smiling Cause I’m climbing til’ I let you know
7. Go To Bed Angry (Feat. Wayfarers)
This is! Such a good song, and I love the message. Like, settling issues instead of being passive aggressive or quietly angry. And it’s so nice to listen? Like everything feels so clean and leads into each other so well. Also!!! I’ve never listened to Wayfarers before but GOD the guest vocalist is AMAZING. Her and Cody’s voices harmonize so well. All in all a fuckin BOP
Favorite Lyrics: So don't you walk away from me Let's settle this, rather hear you scream Than whisper shit- there's no in-between 'Cause if we sleep in our feelings, we'll never start healing
8. Midnight Thoughts
ANOTHER one with some heavy Cinematics vibes. Honestly, I feel like this one is a great example of how amazing this album’s production is. Like, there’s so many little background elements that come together to make it sound so fuckin cool. For example, that one hook near the end where it suddenly strips back to just a beat and vocals? KILLED me. Also, another relatable anxiety bop,
Favorite Lyrics: Dim the lights, shut the blinds, but I’m counting the time Am I nervous or am I insane? Try to turn up the sound, but I can’t shut it out 'Cause I’m hearing the pulse in my veins
9. Criminal Minds
The orchestral feel to this one is so nice, and the rhythm of the lyrics feels so cool. The strings were such a good touch, they go really well with the electric guitar somehow. Cody’s vocals also feel really smooth in this one? Like this is just a pretty sounding number I love it
Favorite Lyrics: This stress eats at my soul I can't tell if I'm breathing at all Street drama takes its toll So, hit the road
10. No Disrespect
UGHHHHH don't get me STARTED on the chorus here. The stripped back staccato rhythm of the vocals with the bursts of instrumental, and then the way it flows into the full instrumental for the repetition in the second half of the chorus. It sounds so fucking gooooooooooooooood I'm having a crisis
Favorite Lyrics: 'Cause I don't see you the way you want to Forget your rescue, we're dreaming, dreaming, dreaming We had our good times, but time has passed by Begin your new life, I'm reaching, pleading, screaming
11. Stitch Me Up
I have SO much to say about this song. Cody and Shay are so fucking cute and their relationship is so nice. Any time Cody talks or sings about Shay you can feel how fuckin in love they are. The only two nice love songs I can ever remember him writing (The other one being Diamond Girl) have been about her and they’ve both been absolute gems. This one especially. It has such a potent vibe that I can really only describe as a summer song. It’s so,,, bouncy and lively and genuinely sweet with just a faint hint of sadness and ughhhhhhhh. PLUS the fuckin commentary Cody gave for this song on his insta story,,,,
“One of my favorites. These lyrics came straight from the heart. [Shay] and I have both come from damaged relationships, but somehow being broken is what made us whole.”
Anyways love is real and I’m soft don't TOUCH ME
Favorite Lyrics: Stitch me up, stitch me up, don’t tear me apart I’ve been stuck in a rut, patched up in the dark Stitch me up, stitch me up, there’s pins in my heart Oh, pardon all my precious scars
12. Raise No Fool
Cody fuckin SNAPPED with this song and I’m living for it. One of the things Cody does so, so well, is delivering just the Most intense anger through his vocals and he brought it ALL for this one. You don’t know what happened but you fuckin FEEL it. Idk who this is about but like,,, killem Cody go Off bitch!!
Favorite Lyrics: Well, first you try to tell me that we're family Then you try to tell me that it's for the best You promise that you'll be there if I need ya But I don't need your handout, you can take it back!
13. I Want You (Gone) (Feat. Matt Appleton)
Another more mellow song, but it’s still so fuckin Good. It just has such a palpable vibe and feel. From what I can gather it’s about leaving a toxic relationship behind, and it Feels that way, in a sense? Like when I listen to it I just get this Feeling of something solemn yet triumphant and clean and new, like cutting someone shitty out of your life. PLUS, that sax? It adds SUCH a nice element to the second half of the song. Matt Appleton is a gift I’m so glad they brought him on for this song
Favorite Lyrics: I guess you'd say I'm blessed I threw away stress the moment I said I want you, I want you gone I'm on my own path, you're stuck in the past I want you, I want you gone
14. Unopened Windows
GOD,,, OKAY,,, HERE WE GO,,, Imma be real with yall. I cried the first time I heard this. It just be like that sometimes. But like this is LITERALLY Dad’s Song 2 and I wasn’t fuckin READY for that. There was no WARNING,,, I wasn’t told I was gonna get hit with that much EMOTION Okay okay for real though, this song is actually gorgeous. It’s just,,, pure fucking grief, so much of it, poured into a song. The composition, the vocals, every element of it is so powerful and heartbreaking. This is the kinda song you cry to- but like, a healing cry, the kind you have right before you take a deep breath and start moving on, y’know? The moment I heard Danny Boy near the end, I started crying all over again. Any time I hear this song or Dad’s Song, I cannot fucking begin to imagine how Cody must feel about what happened to his dad. It’s a kind of grief that can’t be explained. I’m just glad he feels like he can share it with all of us, and that he has a support system behind him. Also, I cannot communicate enough just how much this feels like a fucking,,, movie soundtrack. Like this shit would not feel out of place in a musical or something. The swelling orchestral music near the end fucking kills me. Gotta go cry again brb
Favorite Lyrics: All the stories left unwritten that we drew up in the past It's the game we never went to or the drinks we never had As I look up to the stars and make a wish to bring you back But I curse the roof above me and I learn to live behind all these Unopened windows, bound to my heart Fantasy so close feels so afar But I long to break the lock And live among the life we lost Through unopened windows; they tear me apart...
15. Happy All The Time (Feat. Skyler Acord)
WHAT a closing number. Addmmitedly a bit of a jarring followup to Unopened Windows, but it also makes a lot of sense, to go from a song about grief to a song about letting yourself process negative emotions. It also feels like SUCH a culmination of the album. Maxx even said in his Midnight release livestream, he thinks that it sort of represents the entire message of Midnight as a whole. The album was written to deal with a collection of sad, angry, and upsetting topics or experiences- this song takes all of those and says, “Dude, it’s fine, it’s okay to feel shitty, you don’t have to bottle it in or hide it” and honestly, there are so many people who need to hear that- it’s such an important message. Also??? The fucking???? Choir??? WHAT a touch. Honestly there are Several songs on this album that feel like they could be off a musical soundtrack and this is DEFINITELY one of them. It feels like a finale, and it’s so just powerful and uplifting and emotional, I love it so much.
Favorite Lyrics: It's okay, you're not crazy! Gotta taste the salt to love the sweet Let it out and scream “I'm okay, I'm not crazy!” 'Cause the tears remind me I'm alive It's fine to not be happy all the time!
Honestly, this may be my favorite album by them yet. It’s such a fucking monument to everything they’ve been through and learned and explored as a band for ten years, it has such a clear vision and comes together so well. The lyricism, vocals, instrumentals, composition, and production are all fucking fantastic. I’m so excited to see where this era leads us, and I’m so happy with what we’ve seen so far.
In conclusion, the boys did it again, I’m weeping, and stream Midnight on Itunes and Spotify. Peace out kids a bitch is gonna take a NAP

Unnaturally Natural (Luna/Pansy)
A hug is a loud touch. It screams at each and every patch of skin touched, coaxing out the terror of being touched, of being known, disguised by a bone-deep need for the warmth of another human body.
A hug is loud, but its reassurances are soft, its whispers breathed in a way that soothes so completely that there’s no choice but for Pansy to melt in it, no matter how much she doesn’t want to. When Luna hugs her it’s like the most beautiful flurry of sensation, Luna’s entire being wrapped around her like a breeze to a windchime, making her body hum in a contented lullaby.
Pansy was never one for physical affection, but there’s something about the Ravenclaw that is, and she suspects always will be, an exception. Maybe it’s her hair, with its soft, thick waves and the way it always has something stuck in it, a flower, a paintbrush, her wand. Maybe it’s her eyes, the way they’re always hooded just so, making their gaze soft and yet so bright and curious all the time. Or maybe it’s just her, her long limbs with their acres of pale skin, the way her tall frame wraps around Pansy in a way reminiscent of a vine to its trellis, the way her face buries in her neck, making her giggle as she blows a silly raspberry on the skin.
Maybe it’s the way she makes Pansy feel calm for once, like there’s nothing in the world that could bother them, as long as she stays here with Luna and her paintings, with her strange creatures and forever-interesting conversation. When it’s just them, in Luna’s tiny yet homey flat, she feels like she can finally breathe again.
----------
It’s 5:42 in the afternoon, the sun is already going down, Pansy’s hair is horribly out of place, her skirt has a coffee stain on it from this morning, and it’s cold enough outside to freeze even her worst temper tantrum into mere resentment and dejection. It is not a good day.
Her heels click on stone as she walks, the sound echoing noisily in the small hallway leading to Luna’s flat. When she opens the door, it’s to the sight of Luna standing before a giant canvas leaning on the living room wall, patches of vibrant paint splotched on in an approximation of a grassy hillside scene. The colors are all wrong, neon reds and oranges where soft greens or blues should be, and there’s nothing natural about the nature it’s supposed to be portraying, but somehow, when viewed as one picture, it works. It contrasts where it should complement, is sharp and precise and swirled and messy in equal measure, but it works.
Pansy supposes it could be a metaphor for their relationship, if she were to think about it. But she won’t, because she is tired and cranky and wants to sink into oblivion.
She kicks off her heels and crosses the room, planting a kiss on Luna's soft, slightly paint splattered hair, before unceremoniously dumping her coat and bag beside the couch. She sits down heavily on the cushions, closing her eyes, breathing.
There’s a shift and a shuffle, the sound of feet clad in soft woolen socks walking into the tiny kitchen adjacent. A tap running, a click, then minutes later, water hissing in a kettle. She’s humming a song, and her voice is yet another windchime.
In Pansy’s mind, Luna is made of them, a different windchime for every mood, for every moment. They all sound different, and Pansy thinks this one is one of her favorites. A melody of quiet contentment, everyday life. It’s all terribly sappy and domestic, she’s sure, but she can’t quite bring herself to care as she finally opens her eyes.
Luna’s standing in front of her, a mug of tea in her hand, holding it out to her with a smile and eyes that speak a question. Pansy answers by taking the mug from her, not caring that a bright yellow handprint is left behind on the white porcelain. Her fingertips touch the wet paint, smearing it, and she lifts it to her mouth, taking a sip.
It’s perfect, as it always is when Luna makes it, and does wonders for the ache that was previously spreading throughout her chest, constricting everything in frustration and stress. In its place is warmth, simple and sweet, and it makes Pansy reach out her free hand to grip Luna’s wrist, pulling her until she plops down on the couch next to her.
One more sip, then another, and another. The mug is set aside carefully, and then Pansy is wrapping herself around Luna, reveling in her warmth and comfort, her loud and quiet. She’s in her lap, limbs curled around her body, and Pansy breathes in hair that smells like pies just out of the oven. Their bodies together are one soft entanglement, arms and legs and chests and stomachs meeting, touching, taking and giving. There’s nothing except the two of them, and in the calm, Pansy wonders how she ever got so lucky to be able to touch the stars.
There’s paint on Pansy’s clothes now, but she doesn’t care. They pull back from their tight embrace just enough to look at each other, and Luna’s face is so open, her lips upturned serenely and her eyes gazing steadily back at her. Her cheeks are pink and soft in her smile, and Pansy takes her face in her hands, marvelling at the giddiness that wells in her very soul, occurring at the simple proximity to her light and love.
And then Luna plants her face in Pansy’s neck, blowing a raspberry there, long fingers digging into Pansy’s sides, wiggling until she’s howling, her bad mood chased away by mirth and laughter. She pushes with her hands to try and get Luna to stop, and she does eventually, Pansy’s laughter diminishing to snorts and then huffs of air. Luna wraps her arms around her once more.
“Better now?”
“So much better. Thank you.”
Luna smiles, and leans to press their foreheads together.
“My stardust.”
Pansy warms, blushing and smiling despite herself. It’s a silly nickname, but every time she hears it, her soul overflows, not able to contain all the love it harbors. She never thought that she’d ever be the kind of person to admit her feelings out loud, but Luna has always been, and will forever be, the exception.
“My moonbeam.”
There’s laughter and hugs, loud touches and soft comforts. Paint swirls, wind blows, windchimes sing their songs. Steam from mugs twirl to an unnaturally natural melody, colors and sounds blending impossibly. Raspberries in simple pies complement silly games, the perfect seasoning to sweeten a bitter day. In the moment, warmth.
And for now, everything’s alright.
