what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.

like I could talk about this for hours. how braindead and one-dimensional the Takes are getting. "being a woman is looking in the mirror and going fuck yeah i'm a woman" damn. I guess any negative experiences you have by living in a misogynistic world... are your fault if you are anything but positive? I am pretty fucking sure they are very much aware of pain, and are MORE than aware of the swirling torrent of misogyny and standards of femininity than anybody else. actually. and I am pretty sure someone complaining on tumblr that being a woman means always putting on a performance is going to make someone change their mind about transitioning. also "performing femininity" as a necessity to being treated well as a woman is not fucking NEWS to your Local Trans Woman. something i really like about GSNK is that it’s about a group of friends, but it isn’t about a friend group. everyone knows each other so there can be interesting interactions between any combo of the main characters, but it’s not like all seven of the main characters ever hang out all together at once, so there’s never any sort of feeling that it’s forced to include everybody in every comic. 

in fact a big part of GSNK is everyone knowing each other, but not knowing that others know each other, or not knowing their ‘true identity’ (like mikoshiba being unaware of who does backgrounds for nozaki’s manga while chiyo knows, or everyone knowing seo is lorelei while wakamatsu is unaware of it).

it feels realistic in a way to portray people as having multiple overlapping friend groups instead of just only one tight group of friends who they always hang out with. it’s an interesting dynamic that i rarely see to this extent with main characters in other slice of life/sitcom series

oh I have absolutely been infected with Shroud brainrot, how did they shoot right up next to grampa vampire and his idiot dragon son, I did not anticipate this plot twist

"Idia and Lilia don't realize that they're WoW friends" is probably my favorite running gag (+ bonus Silver bragging about his Cool Jock Gamer Dad in front of Idia, who makes neither connection and ends up just being super intimidated by this hypothetical chad dad). and if I'm being 100% honest I was actually a little disappointed that it ended up being blatantly shown because it makes for SUCH a good "hey wait a minute" moment as they both go on about their online bestie. BUT their friendship is actually really sweet and getting to see (and now hear, Lilia WHY do you talk like that online WHY IS THAT YOUR ONLINE VOICE) them interact more than made up for that, so I'm happy to see it! 💚 now that it's in the main story I am expecting some choice bits in episode 7. can't wait for Idia to be forced into even more social interaction against his will.

there is also a particularly good bit in one of Idia's stories where Lilia brings up the possibility of meeting offline and they're just. both of them are just like.
