I vaguely remember there was supposed to be a Monster adaptation in HBO that was to be directed by Guillermo del Toro but it's been so long since I've heard anything from it, so that's probably been scrapped

Self Insert (??) Magic

Where I write myself or a off shoot of myself into my fandom/source practicing magic in that world. I’ve done it a few times with Pokémon, and spells and rituals come to me a lot quicker. Trying to find a way to properly interpret Naruto’s attachment to the Kage Bunshin no jutsu in a modern setting that truly reflects the context and depth that comes with it. The closest I’ve gotten is where Naruto does this thing where he writes short stories where the main character is an unabashed self insert (that he’s not ashamed of admitting). I have a headcanon that Jiraiya encouraged Naruto to write stories during the 3 year gap to help him properly express his feelings and emotional conflict in a healthy way because he’s always been an imaginative and creative person.

So I’d love it if that was carried into a modern au where even before Jiraiya came into his life, Naruto likes to draw and write stories for himself. Any kind of stories. Fantasy, mystery, horror and when he started to recognize his feelings for Sasuke, even romance. Just him using his writing and art to not only make himself feel less alone but also help him make progress in understanding himself the way the jutsu was a core factor in helping him fight and master the rasengan.

Might make a short ficlet about it. Sasunaru being a part of the plot of course because I will die with this ship

What do you think they would specialise in combat wise?

You know how Tenzo's wood style is often used from a distance, and for trapping people? What if Bdubs used it more in short bursts and closer to the enemy? Focusing more on combat than trapping people. Also Bdubs can toatally grow his own moss cloak now :)

Etho uses his fishing rod but also has zero shame in running away. Probably focuses more on stealth and avoids fighting in general. Maybe he manages to make something similar to the ender pearl and trap door thing (forgot what it's called) in this life.

Maybe!! His is definitely way less refined than Tenzo's, well more like he doesn't bother to refine them in battle. Outside of battle is when he cares about aesthetics- and boy does he care a lot about that kshfisdi and honestly the moss cloak thing was one of the reason I went 👀 at the idea of Bdubs having wood release.

You've pretty much nailed it for Etho!! He's the perfect espionage. In my head Etho's technically not that strong. He's a bit.. frail. If you compare his chakra to Bdubs', he's pretty much a civillain lmao- though he fully embraces this and knows his own limits so yeah! Running's totally a okay. Not that they'll be able to follow him if he uses his enderporter. Wherever he lacks in strength, he makes up for it with his inventions and his ability to adapt. Also he's very good at disguises. So he's a copy ninja too! Just in a different way :)

Now that I think about it, enderporter is sort of similiar-ish to hiraishin huh?

While training, Naruto looked up at the night sky and saw a shooting star, and thought of Sasuke and believes in his connection with Sasuke so he gets up and resumes his training. Kage Bunshin training gradually made Naruto stronger. As he grew stronger, it felt like he seemed to grow closer to Sasuke. The two of them are now far apart, walking on different paths...but somewhere, they are still connected.

[ I know this panel means to show that he trained from night to morning without taking any rest (for Sasuke). He didn't waste a second in training to become stronger in order to reach Sasuke. He developed RasenShuriken to save Sasuke from Orochimaru. Sasuke is the one that makes him so determined ]

It was during this training in volume 35 that the topic of ``yin and yang'' as a change in nature came up. Naruto and Sasuke are yang and yin, they are two people who are walking completely different paths now... It was a foreshadowing that the time would come when they would come together as one and complement each other.

In ch. 672, Sasuke's crescent moon (yin) seal is drawn on the right page, and Naruto's sun (yang) seal is drawn on the left page and It's like it's paired with the panel from ch. 319

The important thing was that, like ``yin and yang,'' two different things come together and complement each other to become one.
