PLOT BUNNIES - DIRECTION:

After his mother’s demise, a small Inuyasha tries to figure out where to go from here.

Kagome wants to go home. Inuyasha leads the group in the entirely wrong direction on purpose and fools no one.

Sango gently tries to teach Kagome about North, East, South and West after an embarrassing blunder.

Miroku realizes he’s found his “true North” in Sango but still goes astray. Mainly because he doesn’t want to have Sango lose another person she loves. Shes suffered enough. And, I mean, that ass though.

Kikyo struggles with her new existence and gets lost in the process.

An old man asks a traveling Inuyasha for directions in the most annoying way possible. Trying to make Kagome proud, even though he likely would never see her again, Inuyasha tries. God, he tries but the old man is senile.

PLOT BUNNIES - SACRIFICE:

During the three year separation, Inuyasha happens upon an opportunity to perform a true act of kindness but it’s not without sacrifice. Perhaps he must give something he has left of Kagome. Maybe he misses that third day. Maybe he gets brutally tortured.

During the three year separation, the well opens for Inuyasha but he’s sent to the wrong point in time. Rather than stay, he returns to his era rather than complicate her life. Maybe Kagome has no idea who he is. Maybe she’s moved on. Maybe it’s a fever dream.

Miroku gives up his food for his wife/kids during a harsh famine but pretends he’s already eaten his fill.

Sota reflects on the loss of his sister after a particularly difficult moment in his life. He misses her so much it hurts and there are times he’s so angry. 500 years in the past Kagome is drawn to the well. A terrible feeling and a fleeting moment of regret as she worries about the family she left behind to be with the man she loves.

PLOT BUNNIES - CHILDHOOD:

The Japanese children’s game of “Kagome Kagome”.

The greatest lesson a parent ever taught their now orphaned child was…

After his wife dies in childbirth, a grieving father parentifies his young daughter and leaves the care of Kohaku primarily to her.

It was slow work but little Inuyasha manages to take his mother’s corpse to a pretty place and bury her with all the respect she deserves.

Tiny Miroku gets confused and bored at the brothels Mushin keeps dragging him to. Mushin tries to condition Miroku into being a pervert so the boy feels more comfortable fulfilling his obligation to create an heir who might defeat Naraku. Because obviously, Miroku is a lost cause and he grows up being told as much.

PLOT BUNNIES - MENTAL HEALTH:

Miroku tries to balance living life with the bloodthirsty jaws of a seemingly inescapable death.

Sango’s suicidal behavior.

Inuyasha and all the *gestures at everything*

Literally the wear on everyone’s mental well being from constant battles, horrifying backstories and juggling romance. Let them have a moment of peace and take a mental health day.

Mushin & his alcoholism. Although addiction is not technically classified as a mental illness, it is a mental disorder that often occurs in tandem with mental illness. Think about it. Canonically, Mushin was brought to the temple by Miroku’s father to care for his son. Logically, this would mean that Miroku’s father trusted Mushin. They were likely friends. Very, very good friends. Why else would Mushin agree to a lifetime commitment and de facto adoption of a child? Mushin probably watched his best friend die but never had the opportunity to grieve due to child rearing. Mushin had to have assumed he would watch the boy he raised/love would also die. Had Mushin lost all hope? Afraid to teach a young child that he was likely to survive? Join us next time for Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairytale had some messed up yet largely unspoken implications.

PLOT BUNNIES - WISH:

The jewel never grants your true wish. Inuyasha worries after Kagome admits she wished on the well to see him again. After all, the jewel literally wanted to trap her soul inside it forever and logically, the jewel’s magic probably got infused inside the well after it disappeared. #neveragain

Kagome buys some new exercise clothes on the cheap (haha get it? Because Wish?). This goes about how you’d expect.

A young Sango learns about Midoriko and asks the remnants of the legendary miko to grant a wish after her Mother dies.

The group randomly stumbles onto a lucky coin and find a lot of their secret wishes come true whenever they’re in possession of it.

Miroku isn’t seeking out the jewel to defeat Naraku . He’s hoping wishing on the jewel will mean he’ll live.

[ LIFT ] sender picks up receiver (and runs, probably, knowing Koga) [ ofthewolftribe ]

Twirling around the living room in nothing but her underwear and her boyfriend’s t-shirt, Kagome sang to the music playing from the bluetooth speaker that sat upon their coffee table as she dusted the mantle above the fire place. She was barefoot, toenails freshly painted a light pink and her dark hair was thrown up into a messy bun, tendrils spilling out by her ears.

She carefully stepped over the large cat (Buyo) that lay on the floor as she moved to dust the window sill. The song ended and switched to another, causing Kagome to shake her hips as she continued cleaning the living space. Koga had been working late nights and overtime as of late to help pull in money for them and she wanted to do something special for him. She had already cleaned the kitchen and had planned on making him his favorite meal as soon as he texted her that he was on his way home. She even had some evening plans for the two of them (which mostly included cuddling up on the couch together and watching a movie while they shared a tub of ice cream). As she reached up on tip toes to get to the top of the tv screen that hung on the wall, she had failed to hear the front door open to their home (due to the music blasting from the speaker). Still shaking her hips as she finally reached the place she needed, she audibly let out a shrill squeak as she suddenly felt a hand slap her ass. Hearing her boyfriend’s chuckles, she calmed her racing heart with hand over her chest and spun to glare at him. He was laughing at her as he turned down the music on the speaker. A pout appeared on her face then, arms crossed over her chest, “You were supposed to text me when you were on your way home.” She told him. Glancing at the clock, however, she noticed it was earlier than he had been coming home recently. The smirk on his face caused her to cock an eyebrow and he admitted to her that he had wanted to surprise her. She huffed, blowing some hair out of her face as she now felt like her surprise was ruined. However, once his strong arms came and wrapped around her, she realized she wasn’t so upset. She felt his hands wander down her back and cup her bottom (which she remembered she was also wearing one of her boyfriend’s favorite pairs of panties she owned) and felt him bring his face to her neck.

Swiftly (which he probably also realized she was only wearing that pair of underwear under his shirt), he swooped her up into his arms and ran upstairs with her to their bedroom. Kagome let out a laugh as she wrapped her arm’s around his neck. Maybe the night wouldn’t go exactly as planned. But she also wasn’t complaining.

VALENTINE'S DAY & ROMANCE:

Inuyasha wants to better himself so Kagome will love him. Badgers Miroku into teaching him how to read and write. Ever the mischievous monk, Miroku does teach him but he doesn't exactly tell Inuyasha that what he's writing is 'I love you' and not his name.

Three years of living on his own made Inuyasha very aware that he didn't know shit about shit when it came to living in a stable environment. Secretly proud of his accomplishments, Inuyasha nervously prepares Kagome a very simple dinner complete with meat he hunted and vegetables from his modest little hidden garden to ease her into the idea of marrying him. 'It wouldn't be that bad, huh?'

The gift Inuyasha got for Kagome was totally for Kagome and not really a gift for him at all. (Ex: 'What? You had a cat. Don't you like cats?')

With help from Sota, Inuyasha practices what he wants to say to Kagome while Mama Higuarashi secretly eavesdrops. It's all for naught though. Inuyasha chickens out and Kagome doesn't know this ever happened until she might never see him again.

After yet another encounter with the annoying yet always half-naked pretty boy Koga, Inuyasha very awkwardly tries to get Kagome’s attention by stripping off his upper layers and flexing every muscle he can to look more attractive. Everyone is confused and uncomfortable.

Inuyasha misunderstands the concept of Valentine's Day. Is initially overjoyed when given a gift - especially after eavesdropping at her school all day - but is left heartbroken when all of their friends get little gifts too. There's nothing special about him, is there?

Sango is suspicious when Miroku keeps going on exorcisms and coming back acting a little too innocent. Concerned that he's cheating on her, she follows behind only to discover that he's really doing something incredibly sweet. It just takes time and costs money he's been working to save up.

After the quest has ended and Kagome has returned, Shippo has got himself yet another little girlfriend but, unlike the others, she's a little cray cray. Can't shake her either and not even Inuyasha's attempts to scare her away work. At his absolute wits end, Shippo takes a risk and goes to Soten with a proposition. Winds up getting more than he bargained for.

Do you hear that? It's the winds of change:

New year, new me. Kagome decides she's going to cut her hair and change up her wardrobe. Inuyasha has a meltdown the likes of which no one has seen before. Turns out hair is more important to him than even he's comfortable admitting. 'Your hair is gone.' 'Yes, the hair is gone.' 'Why is the hair gone?'

Instead of whatever plot Yashahime is doing, Mohora, Inuyasha and Kagome are not separated. As she approaches the toddler phase, Mohora gets frustrated that her over-protective and hypervigilant daddy won't let her do anything on her own. Inuyasha has to learn that he won't always be there to protect her and he needs to teach her independence. Just not right now. She's just a baby dammit.

Being with Kikyo wasn't all bad. Especially in the beginning. Those were actually some of the best days of his life.

After his daughters are born, Miroku decides to give up sake for good. This is harder than he expects despite telling himself he didn't drink that often.

After being forced back into her time, Kagome struggles to readjust to a 'normal' life. There was nothing special about her here.

GENERAL:

I see dead people. Lots of them. All those dead people have started to show up as if they never left with no recollection of what happened or how they got here. Inuyasha and Sango really don't want to do anything about this.

Inuyasha can’t figure out whether he's awake or asleep. It's not all good or all bad but in either scenario, his life's gotten pretty extreme.

The new moon comes and the new moon goes. Inuyasha stays human when the sun comes out and proceeds to flip a shit.

Sango discovers caffeine.

AU:

Earth is dying. Humanity nears extinction. Some well-intentioned aliens kidnap the survivors to bring them home unaware that - like Superman - on their planet humans get superpowers. This pisses off leadership.

No one remembers why the walls were built, no one wishes to leave either.

Kagome falls in love with an immortal who finds her each lifetime. Shes find this out by stumbling across a photo album of all his “exes” who all look like her carbon copy. Looks like they all died super early and horribly too. Weird.

Inuyasha and Kagome are vampires who've been friends forever. One day while Kagome is visiting a museum, she comes across a letter written in his distinctive handwriting and immediate picks up the phone. 'What the hell? You've loved me all this time!' 'What are you talking about?!' 'Those stacks of letters you donated fifty years ago? They're on display!' 'Oh.'
