The cold winter air came through the open balcony doors and slowly made the room freeze as a tense air spread between Alex and you. You, with a lump in your throat, felt the redhead's words cutting through the air like sharp daggers, ready to leave deep wounds in your heart.
Alex stood there, teeth clenched and eyes blazing with anger. "How can you be so ignorant? It's unbelievable how selfish you are!"
You, with a shiver running down your spine, tried in vain to hold back the tears. You never wanted it to turn into an argument. But Alex's words were like an uncontrollable fire that ate through your relationship, leaving you with no options to explain to her why you had taken the larger sum of money out of your shared bank account.
"Alex, let me explain. I just wanted to..." you started, but your voice was drowned in a sob. You knew you couldn't continue to defend yourself without spilling the beans about the birthday surprise. Those words wouldn't be heard anyway. Not in this frenzy of rage the redhead was currently in.
The eldest Danvers snorted and shook her head. "That's typical of you. Always ready with an excuse. You're just immature and incapable of taking responsibility for finances!"
The pain in your chest was almost unbearable. You just wanted peace again. You wanted everything to go back to how it was a few hours ago when you were laughing together and teasing each other. But this strife seemed unstoppable, a relentless storm that destroyed everything in its path.
Alex turned away abruptly, her hands balled into fists. "I can't take this anymore. I'm going to work." She spoke and you could only stand there silently, unable to act as your sister left the apartment, slamming the door behind her. Tears flowed freely down your cheeks as you stood in the silence of the deserted living room, surrounded by an endless feeling of loneliness.
A short while later, Kara flew into her apartment, her eyes wide in shock as she saw you. "What happened here? Are you okay?" she asked worriedly. You didn't say a word. Instead, you collapsed under the face of your own emotions. All you wanted was for this nightmare to end and for you to feel safe and loved again. But the pain you faced was too deep, and the wounds of the words said would take a long time to heal.
The blonde looked at her younger sister, your shaking body sitting on the floor, surrounded by a sea of tears. Her heart ached when she saw the look of despair on your face. "Come here, little one." Kara whispered softly as she knelt down and wrapped her arms around you. You sank into the embrace without resistance, clinging to Kara as if she were the only constant in a stormy sea.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” you sobbed quietly, your voice barely above an audible whisper. "Why can't I control myself when there is an argument?"
Kara stroked your back soothingly and placed a few kisses on the top of your head. "It's okay, sweetie. Sometimes our emotions are overwhelming, and that's completely normal. Plus, it shows that Alex means a lot to you."
You raised your head, tears shining in your eyes. "But why does this always happen? Why can't I just be strong and overlook it?"
Kara sighed quietly. She had asked herself this question many times in the last few months about why you always reacted so emotionally to arguments, but she didn't know the answer. She carefully brushed a strand of your hair out of your face and looked deeply into your eyes. "Perhaps there are reasons that lie deeper. Reasons that you may not yet understand."
You swallowed hard, a look of realization crossing your face. "I think I'm scared. Scared that I'll lose one of you as soon as an argument arises. That eventually none of you will forgive me and that I'll ruin my relationship with you forever."
The blonde felt a pang in her own heart when she heard the words come out of your mouth. She knew your fears were deep-rooted and wouldn't just go away. But she was also determined to help you and show you that you were loved and accepted, despite some arguments. "Arguments are normal for siblings, my sweet girl," she whispered softly. "Neither of us is going to push you away or anything. I'm going to have a chat with Alex and we'll find a way to deal with it together, okay?"
You nodded at her and she pulled you up. Together you had a cozy day on the couch, where she looked after you and tried to calm you down.
A few hours later, the door opened and Alex hesitantly entered the apartment, her eyes downcast and her face marked with regret. She felt the weight of the silence filling the room and knew she had a lot of explaining to do to make things right with you.
Kara slowly got up from her spot next to you, while you were still clinging to her, and walked towards the redhead. "It's good that you're back," she said calmly, but with a stern tone. "We need to talk. Urgently."
Alex swallowed hard and nodded, her eyes meeting yours and she could see the pain in them. "I'm sorry, Kara. I'm so sorry for what I said. It was unfair and unforgivable to y/n." She spoke and the blonde took her in his arms, surprised by her openness.
"It's okay. We all make mistakes. But we need to talk about it so we can understand what happened." the person addressed hesitated for a moment before continuing. "I spoke to Lena and she told me something that finally made me understand. She's afraid that if we fight, our relationship will be ruined forever because her real parents fought all the time before they split up and put her in a children's home."
Kara sighed and nodded slowly. "Yes, y/n told me that too. It's hard for her to deal with these fears."
Alex looked at her sister seriously before biting her lip and briefly looking at you on the couch. You had now moved into a lying position, the blanket wrapped thickly around you. "We have to show her that she is wrong. That we love her and that we will always be there for her no matter what."
The blonde smiled softly and put her arm around the redhead's shoulder. "We will, Alex. We will show her that she will never be alone and that she always has a place in our family."
They walked over to you arm in arm and took you into their midst. They hugged you tightly, united in their determination to put the fight over money behind them. You all spent the next few hours talking it out, listening to each other, and reassuring each other that you would be there for each other no matter what happened.
And as night fell and you felt tired but relieved, you all knew that you had emerged from each crisis stronger, ready to walk together on a path full of love and forgiveness.

More Than a Friend
a/n: hi! thank you so much for this request, i hope I wrote it alright :)
word count: 1k
warning(s): insecurity/jealousy - Y/N thinks they’ve done something wrong - hurt/comfort (?) - fluff + happy ending
Tumblr media
The cafe was loud and bustling, people moving in and out of the aesthetic area, their voices carrying through the air with their lively conversations. You tapped your fingers against the table, routinely checking your phone for any messages or possibly missed calls. Lena had planned to meet you an hour ago for this little lunch get together, something that was rare given Lena’s line of work and hours. After a few more minutes of waiting, your phone buzzed and you were quick to open the message. Your stomach sunk as you sighed, reading the words on your screen.
Can’t make it today. Rain check?
You sent back a sad emoji but accepted the offer to reschedule. With slumped shoulders you stood up from your seat, grabbing your bag and throwing away your long cold coffee. As you pushed through the crowd, your mind spiraled as a pattern emerged. This was the fifth lunch Lena had canceled this week. You told yourself she was just busy but the rock in your stomach spoke your true thoughts.
Lena was avoiding you and you didn’t know why.
-
Kara plopped down beside you on the couch, bowl full of potstickers in hand. She handed you a bowl as well, the savory dish filling your senses with the best scents. Her glasses were strewn to the coffee table, her concerned eyes looking over at you once more before addressing the group.
“So, which game should we play tonight?” She finished her question with a clap of her hands, the excitement showing on her face. You smiled, shoving some of the dumplings into your mouth. J’onn suggested Clue, much to Alex’s discontent.
“So you can use your telepathy to learn what cards we have? No thanks.”
J’onn pursed his lips before shrugging and nodding his head in defeat. Nia snorted before holding up a deck of cards with a mischievous look on her face as she looked at you.
“Uno?”
You sat up on the couch, crossing your legs under you. You rubbed your hands together as Nia passed out the cards. Kara held her deck close to her chest, sending you a sly smile.
“I’m beating you this time, L/N.
“Whatever you say, Danvers.”
The game was about to begin when Kara’s door opened, revealing the CEO who was keen on not hanging out with you. The group cheered, not expecting Lena to make it to game night. The brunette smiled before her eyes zeroed in on the minimal space between you and Kara on the couch. Her smile fell slightly, eyes becoming sharp. What she didn’t know was you thought she was looking at you, her expression apparently disappointed in your presence. You shrunk in on yourself a bit, bright smile dimming. Lena made her way to the couch, surprising you by taking the spot on the other side of you. You looked at her out of the corner of your eye, watching as Nia dealt her in. Lena was making a point to not look at you, a fact that broke something inside of you.
The game started and went on for a while, tense moments when multiple people only had one card left broken when +4 cards, skip, or reverse were dealt. You felt excitement build up within you as Lena placed down a red card, the color of one of your last two remaining cards. With a victorious wave of your hand, you set your card on top of hers, proudly calling out “UNO!”
The group groaned jokingly, each one looking at their cards, desperate to discover what you had left and how they would stop you from winning a seventh consecutive game night in a row. Your eyes were like a hawk as you examined each card that was placed. J’onn put down a multicolored card, changing the flow to green, sending you a smug grin.
Your thoughts had worked.
When Lena placed down her green seven, you pretended to look disappointed, feigning reaching for a new card. But at the last second, you placed your last card on the deck, cheering triumphantly as you won. You felt Lena turn towards you as the others looked shocked at the cards, wondering how you always won. Before you could acknowledge her, Kara flung her arm around your shoulders, bringing you close to her.
“Next time, I swear I’ll win.” She whispered in your ear, making you laugh under your breath. Lena’s jaw clenched and she stood up, making an excuse that she had to get a glass of water. You watched as she made her way to the kitchen, determination fueled by your adrenaline of winning coursing through your bones. You followed the brunette, giving her a shock when she turned around, her eyes widening at you. You bit your lip, looking at the ground.
“Did I do something?”
Your courage melted away as you spoke, your voice soft and hesitant. Lena made a confused noise, placing her hands on your arms making you look up at her.
“What? What do you mean?”
Her voice was concerned and you realized you had miniature tears in your eyes. You swallowed, scared of what Lena would tell you.
“You’ve been,” you cleared your throat, emotion breaking in your tone, “You’ve been avoiding me, dodging our lunch dates, looking annoyed when you see me, and I just-”
Lena’s shaking head interrupted you, her expression slightly panicked. It was her turn to look nervous as she spoke.
“No, no, Y/N, you didn’t do anything wrong. I, uh, I was jealous and taking it out in the wrong ways.”
Your brow scrunched in confusion, cocking your head to the side. Lena thought it was adorable.
“Jealous? Of wha-” something clicked in your mind, “Of my friendship with Kara? Lena, you know you’re my best friend!”
Lena looked like she was fighting an internal battle, looking away before sighing and setting her shoulder before looking deep into your eyes.
“No, Y/N, I was jealous because I like you more than a friend.”
More than a…?
More than a friend?!
You blinked as Lena’s words registered in your mind, heat flooding your face. Holy shit.
You grabbed Lena’s hands, a hopeful glint reflecting in both of your eyes.
“Then you have nothing to worry about, I also like you more than a friend should.”
Lena smiled, her eyes brightening. She pulled you into a hug, making you laugh as you both let out sighs of relief. She pulled back and cupped your face with her hands.
“Can we take that rain check now?”

Behind the Story-Taxes, Taxes, Taxes
I decided to start this behind-the-scenes post about some of the work I have written. I often like to see what led to a story being created and thought that some of you might too.
Taxes, Taxes, Taxes was originally never supposed to become a full fledged story. It started off as an answer to a writing prompt. I was supposed to choose two genres and combine them. I chose satire and superheroes. From there, I thought about what is something that could be satirical in the world of superheroes. The first thing that came to mind was about the property damage that is seen all the time in superhero films. You see the damage that is caused, but nothing to help or any repercussions for it. It had me thinking about what if superheroes were held accountable for the property damage that they caused? I then wrote from that stand point.
When I first wrote the first couple of paragraphs of Taxes, Taxes, ,Taxes, I initially wasn't going to post it to AO3. I thought the idea was too niche and out there. However, people seemed to respond to it. Now, it has over 20 chapters, and I am still currently writing for it. It has definitely been a interesting journey so far, and hope to provide more chapters that you guys like :)

If I Could Fly, I Doubt I'd Even Do It - Kara Danvers Imagine (Supergirl)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: If I Could Fly, I Doubt I'd Even Do It
Pairing: Kara Danvers X Reader
Based On: New Perspective
Word Count: 786 words
Warning(s): none
Summary: Kara and Alex come home to visit their mom. During the trip, Kara reconnects with an old friend. Catching up begins bringing up old feelings between the pair.
Author's Note: I think I've only had one or two writing challenge that didn't feature Kara. I just find that kinda funny.
STICK SEASON - NOAH KAHAN WRITING CHALLENGE MASTERLIST
--------------------------
I had grown so used to my normal pattern.
Wake up, get ready, go to work, come home.
Same pattern day after day.
Nothing served as a bigger interruption to that plan than Kara Danvers walking back into my life.
The two of us had grown up as neighbors.
We had been best friends all through school. Close enough that she had told me about who she was. I remember always feeling so cool because I had this secret about how awesome my best friend was.
But that was years ago.
Since then, she had moved away and made a name for herself. It was hard to not recognize her during the news about Supergirl.
I had just gotten home from work for the day when I saw her for the first time in all those years.
We only spoke for a little while.
We made dinner plans.
A few days later, she was sitting at my table, sipping at wine while I carried out two plates of food. It almost felt like a dream. I had thought about all that we would talk about if we saw each other again, but now, I felt lost. She had lived a completely different life since I had seen her. All that she had seen and done. And I just stayed there. Stuck and frozen in time.
Maybe I had been waiting for her to be my wake-up call.
I tried to shake that thought away. This didn't feel like the right time to dwell on past feelings.
We talked about everything we could think of.
She told me all about her life now. I learned about Winn and Jimmy. How she and Alex were working together now. How her boss at Catco was. It was like getting a peak behind the curtain.
I tried to come up with something that was half as interesting as that. I told her about the work I was doing now. About my parents letting me take the house after they retired. About how the town had changed. Who had left, who stayed, who came back, and who got scared away.
I was almost surprised at how interested she seemed.
At some point, we had finished eating but continued talking. It was just like old times. Everything was suddenly so interesting again. The clock had finally ticked forward.
I pulled out an old box of photos that I kept a hold of.
Kara gushed about every photo. Even the ones that she wasn't in, she would excitedly ask for every story. It made me smile.
She found one of us when we were younger. She had pulled me into a tight hug as my mom took the photo. We had started having regular sleepovers at that point, each becoming somewhat of an adopted family member to our respective families.
"Y'know... you were the first person I told about... me," Kara said softly, smiling at the picture.
"That was also only because I caught you lifting something that should've killed you," I replied.
I smiled as she chuckled at my joke.
"How long are you staying," I asked.
"Alex and I need to head home tomorrow," she explained, putting the picture down on the table.
"Oh," I mumbled, nodding.
I wanted so desperately to not feel my heart drop. I wanted to know that I had the ability to let her go. But someone like Kara doesn't just allow you to let go. They change you forever. Whether you like it or not.
"Yeah... I'm sorry," she looked at me.
"It's okay," I promised. "Supergirl gets busy."
She just grinned. Not chuckling at my pathetic excuse of a joke. Maybe she was going through the same thing as me.
I moved closer to her. My hand found the side of her face. I expected her to move. She didn't.
I don't remember leaning in. I just remember that moment when my lips touched hers. It was a slow kiss. Hesitant. We were both testing the waters, scared to push each other or ourselves too far.
Kara pulled away a few moments later. "I'm leaving-"
"I know," I muttered, leaning my forehead on hers. "You're leaving and I'm staying here. And that's okay. But this... I want this. I have for so long. Even if it's just for a night. Please."
She sighed and my eyes finally opened.
"Can you just forget about leaving for a few hours?"
A smile slowly pulled at her lips before she leaned forward and kissed me again. I kissed her back. I was more certain this time. More confident as my hands moved to her sides.
One night.
That's all I had.
And I could live with that.

the day lena met kara
word count: 1.1k pairing: autistic!kara danvers x lena luthor warnings: none :) this is just pure fluff.
a/n: okay so i’ve had a fic that i’ve left untouched for YEARS because people shitted and farted on me for how i wrote my autistic!kara at the time ( full transparency, i literally haven’t touched this google doc since 2017 ). granted, i now have many years of working with both autistic adults and children under my belt and i’m also now 23 so i’d like to think my writing has improved LMAO. so instead of reuploading it as a fic, i decided i’d take some of the moments and make them into one shots and do a little mini series maybe if y’all like it?
DISCLAIMER: NOT ALL AUTISM IS THE SAME. THERE ARE DIFFERING LEVELS OF FUNCTIONALITY PER HUMAN. YOU MAY NOT LIKE MY WRITING BUT DON’T SHIT ON ME FOR HOW I PORTRAY THIS VERSION OF KARA. I’M GOING BASED OFF OF WHAT I KNOW AS SOMEONE WHO’S WORKED WITH HUMANS WITH AUTISM FOR 13 YEARS.
it was a beautiful, partly cloudy day when they first met. kara remembers the day perfectly. it was overcast- some of her favorite days. while she always felt less strong on overcast days, kara found herself feeling quite content on those days. it could be because the sun wasn’t blinding her every time she looked out her window, or the fact that there was typically a light breeze that wound its way through the city on those days, making it feel more and more like spring time.
the sun slowly found its way into kara’s bedroom, slowly inching its way across her bed. she knew the exact reason she was up as early as she was- she was interviewing lena luthor today. her boss, snapper, had asked her to write an article on the young businesswoman, highlghting the steps that she was taking to reclaim the luthor name when it came to L-Corp. she could feel her anxiety bubbling at the surface, her gaze drifting to the floor as the sun sneaked its way closer to the bed. she liked watching the sun. the way it made the same pattern on the floor every morning was always predictable. the floorboards would get just warm enough for her feet so she didn’t have to wear socks to bed. it was nice. it was routine.
a small shuffling came from her kitchen, reminding kara that her cousin clark had slept on the couch last night to ensure she didn’t feel alone going into her meeting with lena today. she loved clark with her whole heart- he had always gone above and beyond for her. including driving all the way from metropolis.
“good morning, kara.”
kara bounded into her kitchen, smiling at her cousin. “hi clark!”
“i made you your favorite pancakes.”
“really?” kara’s eyes widened. “you made me my pancakes?”
“i did.” clark pushed a plate over towards her, the syrup kara liked following seconds later. “you need to eat a good breakfast, you have your interview with lena today.”
kara looked down at her plate as she felt her face get redder, suddenly finding a small crack in her table more interesting than anything else in the room. “yeah.”
“are you excited?” she could hear the concern in his voice.
“yeah.”
“are you sure?” clark looked over to kara, concerned. “do you feel uncomfortable?”
“no…”
“kara, are you sure you want to do this?”
“of course i do!” Kara’s head snapped up. “i want to be a reporter, clark. i have to go with you and work on this story if i want to be a reporter. i can’t do a story and not interview people. that’s not right.”
“right. but if you feel uncomfortable, let me know and we can leave whenever you want to, okay?” kara nodded. “and remember, you can not say that you’re supergirl.”
“why?”
“it’s our secret, remember?”
“oh yeah! it’s a secret!” kara placed her finger on her lips, almost as if to tell herself not to say anything. “you can’t tell anyone my secret clark! alex won’t be happy.”
“that’s right. it’s our little secret, okay?”
“okay!”
                                                            -----
kara’s arm was wrapped around clark’s forearm as they walked over towards L-Corp. she was nervous. kara wasn’t one for social interaction with people whom she didn’t know from her childhood. when she wasn’t supergirl, she always stayed to the back and let alex or clark do all the talking. but she was going to be a reporter, and she had to learn how to talk to people. this interview was the perfect opportunity. she was going to meet one of the most famous people in national city and write a story about her. of course, she didn’t expect to get published right away, it was going to be her first article, but it was going to be her first story and she was more focused on getting it written than getting it published. she needed to make sure it was perfect, and clark was there to help her.
kara heard a mumbled sentence come from clark, and she could only find the courage to nod as clark opened the door for her, waiting for her to go inside. kara took a few steps in and waited for clark, not wanting to go any farther without him. when he got inside, kara found her way back to his side and clutched onto his shirt sleeve as they walked over to the circulation desk. kara looked down as she waited for clark to be done talking to the lady before they went to the elevator. she waited until the door closed to plug her ears, trying to stop them from popping- she hated when her ears popped in elevators. soon as the door opened kara could feel herself getting more scared, and looked over to clark. he held out a hand and let kara take it, walking out of the elevator before signaling to her to take a deep breath. once she was ready, the secretary opened the door to lena’s office and let them in.
“clark, what a pleasure.”
“same to you, lena.” clark nodded his head slightly, trying to nudge kara forward at the same time.
“and who might this be?”
“this is my cousin, kara danvers.”
“hi kara.” lena started talking in a quieter tone, sensing her nervousness. “i’m lena.”
“kara is autistic, so she’s a little shy.”
“i’m so not shy!” kara huffed, scrunching her face into a pout as she looked up at clark.
“then tell Lena why you’re here.”
kara paused. “can you do it?”
“kara, you can do it.”
“you don’t have to be nervous, kara.” kara’s eyes shifted over towards Lena, looking just beyond her face. dhe wasn’t ready for eye contact yet. “i heard a lot about you, clark talks about you all the time. from what I’ve heard, you seem like a bright girl.”
“you talk about me?”
“i do.” clark smiled. “now, what are we here for again?”
“to interview lena.”
“why do we need to interview lena?”
“i’m writing a story. my first story.”
clark glanced over to lena, who was trying to hide a smile behind her hand. “and why do you want to do your story on lena?”
“because she’s really pretty.”
“yes, but there’s another reason.”
“because snapper wants me to report on lena and L-Corp and how she’s being a business woman.”
“that’s right. so are you ready to ask lena questions now?”
kara looked down at her feet, starting to play with the bottom of her shirt. lena held out her hand again, waiting for a reaction from kara, but frowned when she stepped away. clark held out a hand and pulled kara closer to him, trying to calm her down. at least two minutes passed before kara glanced up, looking at lena. her eyes lit up and tucked some hair behind her ears, ready to answer any question that kara asked her.

Lena didn’t have time for traffic. She looked up from her phone and glared at the back of her driver’s head.
“Frank, why is it taking so long?”
“I’m not Frank, Ma’am. He called out this morning.”
Lena sighed. “And your name?”
“Vincent, ma’am.”
“Vincent, why is this taking so long?”
He signed. “Traffic, ma’am. Sounds like there’s a few blocks downtown closed. Supergirl is fighting some monster or alien or something.”
Lena stopped herself from smiling softly. “Ah, well then. Anyway, might as well see if you can find us a way around. I just don’t like to stand still.”
The driver nodded.
“What do you think about Supergirl, ma’am?”
Lena sighed. “Forgive me, Vincent, but I do have some work to concentrate on, here. I’m not usually one for chitchat. I hope you don’t mind.”
She sank back into her seat and flicked to the next email. There were a lot of fires to put out. Upcoming product launches, grant applications, university partnerships, charity events, plus her own work. She was becoming so strained lately that she was seriously considering stepping down from the direct CEO role so she could spend more time in the lab, where her real passion was.
Sometimes she almost sympathized with Lex; the life of a CEO could easily drive someone insane. Lena would rather spend her days in a labcoat or doing charity work than listening to another entitled silver spoon-
“You’re going the wrong way,” Lena said, sharply.
“I’m finding a way around,” said the driver. “You know, you never answered my question, before. What do you think of Supergirl?”
Lena stuffed her phone in her pocket and thrust her hand in her jacket, freeing the concealed revolver she carried in a shoulder holster under her left arm. The partition was already going up, sealing her in.
“What are you doing?”
“Answer my question,” the driver said, through a speaker.
Lena swallowed hard. “I think she’s a hero but I don’t fully trust her. I work with her when I feel it will help people. That’s all.”
“That’s not what your mother thinks.”
“Isn’t it?” said Lena. “What does she think?”
“Are you fucking her?”
Lena barked out a laugh. “Are you serious? That’s her question?”
“Are you fucking her like you debased yourself with that little tart in boarding school?”
There was silent beat.
“She told me to say that. She made me practice saying ‘tart’.”
He sounded almost bored.
“Fuck you,” Lena snapped. “Whatever you’re going to do, do it.”
“Nothing personal,” said the driver.
Lena sighed, almost annoyed at the hiss as a thin, chemical smelling gas hissed into the car, rising around her. She forced herself to stay calm, stoic, even her pulse raced.
“I’m not afraid of you, or her,” said Lena.
She coughed twice as the world irises shut around her, dragging her down into a cold, dreamless sleep.
When she snapped awake, she was alone. The partition was open, but the gun was gone from her holster. She felt around for it, then decided to clamber into the front seat, rolling over the seats facing her. The driver was gone, of course. Heavy chains were padlocked around the car, pinning the front doors shut.
There was a tape recorder sitting on the front seat. Lena ignored it as she looked around. The car was surrounded by metal walls, and a creep sense of dread rose up Lena’s spine. She fought the panic down, dropping into the driver’s seat.
Placing the tape deck on the dash, she pushed the okay button.
“Hello, Lena,” Lilian said, in her smooth, posh tones. Lena could hear that smarmy smirk forming around her words.
“You’re probably expecting an ultimatum or an offer. There will be none. I’m through trying to bring my husband’s wayward bastard back into the fold. When you betrayed Lex again, you burned your last chance. It’s time to take out the trash, Lena. I wish I could have throttled you in the cradle, but I didn’t know about you and your mother until it was too late. It’s time to correct that. It’s too bad we won’t be there to watch.”
Watch what?
Lena sat and waited. Whoever was sent to murder her had no sense of dramatic timing. She began rifling through the car, trying to take stock of what she had, what she could use to effect an escape. Breaking the-
A sharp shriek of metal cut through her thoughts. The side walls inched forward with a screech of metal, and Lena froze, terror piercing through her like an icy spike.
Oh.
Oh God.
The walls moved slightly more, and the rear view mirrors on both sides of the car exploded. The mechanism pushing the walls strained and groaned, and that was the only mercy she had.
She was in a car crusher. In the car.
The armored structure of her town car was too heavy for the machine to simply crush, but she had minutes at most. Metal groaned in protest, shrieking around her, and the glass quivered in the doors.
Oh God. Oh God.
She wasn’t going to panic. She wasn’t going to panic. She ripped open every single compartment and cubby she could find, but found only monogrammed glassware and a bottle of champagne. There was nothing.
A random, forgotten Lexosuit would be really useful right about now.
With a sudden shriek, the car began to collapse. The bulletproof glass buckled and shattered, pelting the front seat as she rolled into the back, and the doors buckled in, tearing loose from their hinges as the floor and roof began to fold.
A sudden, ringing, frankly stupid thought came into her head, but it was her best play.
Lena Luthor filled her lungs. She took in the biggest, deepest breath of her life, a breath worthy of a championship deep diver, and screamed at the top of her lungs, until it hurt.
“SUPERGIRL!”
She had to scramble into the back seat as the engine began pushing through the dashboard, ripping apart plastic and leather, splintering buried wood. Lena ducked as the roof crumpled and dove in, like the roof of a dragon’s mouth crushing down to pulp her. She closed her eyes and curled in on herself, hoping it would at least be over fast.
A single ringing thought bit through the fear.
Oh God. Kara’s waiting for me at the restaurant.
Around her metal shrieked, and she heard the vast clang of rending machinery. The inexorable crushing stopped, the bucking limousine going still. Lena opened her eyes, peering through her fingers like a terrified child, and watched in awe as one of the crushed plates tore loose from its moorings and went flying off into the afternoon air.
Hands, strangely delicate, punched through armor plating as if it were cobwebs and ripped the broken shell of Lena’s limo apart, spreading it in every direction.
Lena had never seen Supergirl so panicked. Her eyes were too wide with abject terror, and she seized Lena in her arms, winding her cape around her, and rocketed loose from the car.
Lena’s words were lost to the wind. Supergirl was blasting into the air, flying incredibly fast- too fast. Helpless, she clung to the hero for dear life, feeling woozy as the blood drained from her skull.
She thought, oh, come on, as she passed out again.
When her eyes drifted open, Lena was lying on the ground. Groaning, she sat up slowly, feeling every movement, and realized she’d been lying on a spread red blanket with her suit jacket piled up under her head for a pillow, and she was in the woods. The sun had yielded to the sky, and someone had started a roaring fire a few feet away.
Grateful for the warmth, Lena edged closer. As she did, she realized that she was sitting not on a blanket but on Supergirl’s cape.
Blinking, she looked around.
Supergirl had her back to a tree, curled up on herself with her head hanging between her knees, arms wrapped around to cover her face, and she was sobbing quietly. Lena stared, open-mouthed.
“Supergirl?” she breathed.
Supergirl didn’t respond. Lena rose to her feet, wobbling, and discarded her heels before walking across a bed of soft leaves. She crouched in front of the weeping Kryptonian, stunned when the other woman flinched.
“Supergirl?”
“Lena?”
Her voice was small and soft, all the bravado and righteous authority gone. She sounded strangely human.
“Are you okay?” she whispered.
“I think I am,” said Lena. “What about you? Are you hurt?”
“No,” she sniffed. “A Tauraxian hit me in the head with a greyhound bus. Tuesday afternoon at the office.”
Lena laughed softly, and sat down. “I’m sure. What just happened?”
Supergirl swallowed hard as she looked up. “I panicked. I saw what was happening and I lost control. I’m lucky I didn’t hurt you.”
Lena put a tentative hand in on her shoulder. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“More than you realize,” Supergirl sighed.
“I’m here,” said Lena.
She sat down. Supergirl looked away from her, staring I to the fire a few feet away. In starlight, with the firelight caressing her delicate features and sparkling in her blue eyes, it was impossible to miss how hauntingly beautiful she was… and how haunted herself. Supergirl looked older than her years, a deep sorrow in her eyes that Lena had never seen before.
“I’m claustrophobic,” Supergirl explained. “Not the kind of thing that you advertise.”
“We all have our fears. I have some of my own.”
Lena pushed down thoughts of a pale hand sliding beneath churning black water and shuddered.
With teary eyes, Supergirl looked at her.
“I can’t. I can’t have fears. I’m Supergirl. I have to be perfect, set an example, all that crap. I’m the perfect woman who came from the sky to do only good.”
The perfect woman, Lena thought, consuming the firelit beauty before her. No one would debate that.
Well, Lena would, maybe. There was someone more perfect, someone soft and kind with a devastating smile and laughing eyes tinged with strange sorrow. She hoped Kara wasn’t worrying about her.
It was funny how Lena always thought of Kara when Supergirl was around. Guilt, maybe. Foolish guilt; Kara was a far shore that Lena would never reach, even if she’d gladly sink in the attempt.
“Before I came to Earth, I drifted in the phantom zone in my pod. There were things outside. The pod was the size of a coffin, a tiny space to spend all that time. The phantoms would claw and slash at the canopy and the walls. I was awake for days hearing them trying to get in. Sometimes there were bigger things out there, wrapping arms around it and trying to crush their way in.”
Lena nodded. “That sounds beyond terrible. It’s okay for you to be scared after that.”
Supergirl nodded. “I can barely handle elevators sometimes.”
A jolt went through Lena, something familiar, like a word on the tip of her brain.
“I get scared when other people are enclosed, too,” said Supergirl. “When I saw something trying to crush you, I just lost it. It’s different when it’s you.”
Lena swallowed hard, trying to suppress the shiver that coursed through her body and made the small hairs on her arms stand on end.
“Back in high school, the other girls used to bully me,” said Supergirl. Once, they locked me in a closet in the locker room. I screamed and screamed until until someone let me out. Alex was furious, she…”
Supergirl went quiet, trailing off. Her eyes went wide and she jolted back.
Lena sat there for a second, unsure why…
Wait.
Alex?
High school? Supergirl went to high school?
With Alex? Alex Danvers?
Lena choked down a gasp, the wheels whirling in her head. She looked over and met Supergirl’s eyes, studying them. Her. The way the light played across her soft features, her honey hair, the little scar above her eye.
“Hi, Lena.”
“Hi, Kara,” Lena whispered.
Neither of them moved. Lena wondered briefly if Kara had ever planned to tell her, how she might have planned it. Probably not like this. Her throat bobbed.
Lena shifted closer, until they were hip to hip in a seated hug, Kara crying softly on Lena’s shoulder, powerful arms wrapped around her.
“I was scared,” said Lena. “I was afraid I was going to die and you’d be sitting at the table at the restaurant waiting for me.”
“Never,” said Kara. “I’ll always protect you.”
“And I’ll always protect you. Nobody is ever going to shove my Kara in a closet ever again.”
Kara let out a little gasp.
“Can we stay here for a while? Talk? Just you and me?”
Kara nodded. She stood and gathered up her cape as Lena moved close to the fire, and sat down, wrapping it around them both. Lena let her head fall on Kara’s shoulder.
“This makes a nice blanket.”
“It is a blanket. My cousin was swaddled in it when he came to Earth. Don’t worry, I washed it.”
Lena laughed softly, awkwardly trying to decide where to put her hands. She settled on being bold, and put her arm around Kara’s waist. Kara slipped her arms around her shoulder and pulled her in, and Lena hugged her back, tucking herself into Kara’s shoulder.
They sat for a while as the fire burned down low. It was full dark and the fire was nothing but coals.
“I was going to tell you. I wanted to.”
“I’m not mad.”
“Okay,” Kara sighed.
Lena swallowed hard, trying not to feel her blood rushing in her ears.
“You know,” she said. “You could kiss me right now, if you wanted. That seems like the kind of thing the hero does after saving the girl.”
“I could?” said Kara.
“You could.”
“Like this?”
Kara was trying to be smooth, and it made it hard for Lena not to giggle. She tipped Lena’s chin up with soft fingers and guided herself in, bringing their lips together. Kara kissed her softly, tentatively. Lena kissed her back just as softly, afraid this moment would shatter if she pressed too hard.
It was easy to shift herself into Kara’s lap, even before Kara lifted her there. Lena knew she was strong but not Kryptonian strong, and it it sent a thrill through her. She liked it.
She liked touching Kara, too. Liked feeling the bunching muscles flex under under hands, the softness of her hair, the way she gasped when she felt Lena’s lips on her throat.
“Never have I wished so badly for a tent and sleeping bags,” said Lena.
“And marshmallows to toast!” said Kara.
“Do you ever stop thinking about food?” Lena giggled.
Kara looked at her intently, and Lena shivered, not from the cold. She’d longed for Kara to see her like that, look at her like that.
“Sometimes,” Kara whispered. “Sometimes I think about other things.”
“We should probably go back,” said Lena. “We have people who are probably looking for us.”
Kara nodded.
“Do you want this to be… do you want us to be?”
“Kara,” said Lena, “I would have asked you out a year ago if I thought I had a chance. I thought you just wanted to be friends.”
Kara swallowed. “Are you saying you want to be my girlfriend?”
Lena smiled softly. “Yes.”
Kara rose and clasped her cape to her shoulders, then gently brought Lena to her feet and lifted her from the ground, holding her close.
“Not so fast this time, okay?”
“Okay,” said Kara, lifting them back into the sky.

Lena Is Down Bad (Supercorp)
by marinawolf
Lena gets knocked the fuck out by a flying car door because she’s too busy thirsting over Kara to run away from the chaos. A short, funny (?) fic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lena navigated the street with Kara, trying to keep up with the conversation as they walked back to the office. But her usually focused mind was currently on vacation and her brain seemed to have booked a one-way ticket to a thirst town. The reason? Kara fucking Danvers and that blue shirt. In that light blue button-down, Kara wasn't just walking; she was parading around like a mobile museum exhibit on the art of making Lena's brain short-circuit.
The top buttons of her shirt were undone, and her sleeves were pushed up to reveal a tantalizing glimpse of biceps that could make even the most stoic person weak in the knees.
Each flex of Kara's muscles turned Lena's attempt at coherent thought into a stumbling mess. And it didn’t help that Kara was an animated talker. The way her arms were moving, and fucking flexing, Lena worried that those sleeves were about to rip. The poor things were clinging on for dear life and Lena found herself torn between concern for the fabric's well-being and a wholly inappropriate wish that, just maybe, the fabric might surrender to the sheer strength on display.
Lena’s love life had been in a Sahara Desert-level dry spell of late, and Kara looking like this didn’t help matters. Her crush on Kara was usually easy to hide but dammit, those muscles would be her undoing. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from Kara’s arms.
Suddenly, Lena lurched as her heel got caught in a crack on the sidewalk. Her coffee cup tumbled out of her hands, and she felt herself fall backwards, only to be grabbed by those very arms. She looked up at Kara’s blue eyes and almost swooned. Kara righted her, and laughed “be careful” before casually going on with the walk while Lena struggled to remember how to breathe.
And then when the guys with big guns and super strength suddenly stormed the street, Lena barely registered the danger. Why? Because Kara, ducked into the alley and ripped off her shirt. Naturally, Lena's brain clocked out for a moment.
When Kara pushed her into the alley with a stern “Stay here”, Lena's focus remained steadfastly fixated on Kara.
Kara’s muscles were on full display as she threw punch after punch and Lena was more turned on then ever.
And oh god, Kara’s thighs in those tights- Lena wanted those thighs wrapped around her. And when Kara effortlessly crushed a gun to smithereens with her bare hands, Lena couldn’t help but wonder what else those hands might do…
So obviously Lena didn’t register Kara’s shout of warning until it was too late, and the flying car door smacked into Lena’s face, knocking her the fuck out.
Blinking against the pounding in her head, Lena awoke to find herself in Kara's apartment. Kara stood before her, arms crossed.
"Oh, thank Rao," Kara breathed out as she knelt down to grab Lena’s hands, her relief evident, “You’re okay.”
"What happened?" Kara inquired, concern etching her features. "You were just standing there, frozen.”
Lena groaned inwardly, already knowing where this was headed.
"I was distracted," she muttered accusingly, casting a side-eye at the source of her distraction.
Those muscles were shaping up to be the greatest threat to Lena's well-being.

F is for Godmother
“Esme, sweetie, who did you learn that word from?”
Well, that’s a question Mama’s never asked before. But before Esme can ask ‘why??’, the door to Aunt Kara’s apartment opens and —
“Aunt Lena!”
Esme doesn’t get why she’s always the only one — aside from Aunt Kara, of course — who runs to give her godmother a hug every Game Night.
“Ow, fuck!”
Stupid chair.
Although the chair isn’t the one who starts laughing about her falling. That’s Aunt Nia, who is usually really nice. Uncle Brainy seems confused about it too when she falls on top on him.
“Kara, don’t you dare.”
Mommy sounds mad… because Aunt Kara is laughing too! Not like Aunt Nia, but her face is red, and she’s got a hand over her mouth, and her shoulders are shaking.
“It’s not funny!”
Esme stomps her foot as she stands up — the foot that doesn’t still hurt — and she can feel her eyes getting spicy. Which her moms say is ‘okay.’ But it’s not okay because it makes Aunt Lena sad, and Esme just wanted to make her smile!
At least no one’s laughing anymore.
“You okay?”
Esme feels her godmother’s hand on her shoulder and spins around to throw her arm’s around Aunt Lena’s shoulders. She always crouches down when she talks to Esme.
“They’re making fun of me.”
“No, honey, they’re not. They’re making fun of me.”
Esme pushes back with a gasp. She might not like them laughing at her… but at Aunt Lena?!
“Not in a mean way! Not in a mean way!”
She looks back to see Aunt Lena flapping her hands, which she does when she’s talking fast.
“In a friend way?”
“Yes.”
“But you didn’t do anything. You just got here.”
Aunt Lena opens her mouth… and then she laughs, quietly, and shakes her head.
“Lena.”
Mommy sounds mad again, and her godmother’s face is really red all the sudden. Esme turns around again, ready to protect her.
“A word?”
But then the laughing starts again, louder than before. Even Papa J’onn is smiling! And —
“Kelly!”
“I’m sorry, dear, but you could have phrased that any other way.”
**12 Hours Later**
Esme still doesn’t see what the big deal is. It’s just the word her godmother uses when some part of her experiment isn’t working, like now.
“LENA KIERAN LUTHOR!”

“You have my dick.” The woman’s brows fly up to her hairline. “P-pardon me?” Admittedly, those were definitely not the words she was thinking of saying, but well, desperate times. “Dicks, actually,” she corrects, remembering she actually bought two dildos. “Dicks?” “The packages. You signed for them. But they’re not yours. Stealing other people’s mail is a federal crime. I can have you arrested. Give me back my dicks.” OR lena and kara are neighbors and someone's mail gets delivered to the wrong apartment. Rated M for sexual content.
This one's dedicated to @endersbegin who was a) behind the inspiration and b) who helped me polish up this bad boy c) this was the shenanigans i spoke of earlier

Can you also do a oneshot where B!D is the one kidnapped in season 2 instead of Alex and she almost dies because of her asthma?
Tumblr media
Authors note: I changed the scenery a bit and wrote a different storyline because I think it would be totally weird to write the exact same episode in season two with Baby Danvers instead of Alex in it. Hope that's okay!
ᕚ---ᕘ
Kara and Alex were on their way to your apartment, where you had planned a peaceful family dinner, when suddenly their cell phones lit up and beeped wildly in a monotonous tone. The message the two received from an anonymous sender was short and clear, but still very disturbing and frightening. "Your sister is in danger. Come to the old warehouse at the harbor alone if you want her back alive. If you take the Martian with you, she will die."
"Call her immediately!" said the redhead in a panic as she tried to trace the sender using a cell phone tracking device installed on her phone. But both the call and the pursuit went nowhere and, full of concern, the two sisters followed the instructions with a desperate expression.
Shortly afterwards the two found themselves in front of an abandoned warehouse. The surroundings were silent and frightening, only the gentle sound of the sea against the harbor wall accompanied their quick steps before they stopped opposite a shadow that only slowly approached them. "Who the hell are you and where is our sister?"
"Kara, Alex. It's nice that you came," spoke a cool voice before the shadow grew into a male figure. Despite the passing years of her high school days, Alex instantly realized that it was Rick Malverne who had been ruthlessly targeting Supergirl's family and identity for some time.
“What did you do to y/n?!” Kara shouted angrily, her eyes glowing red with anger. Malverne smiled and finally stepped into the light, where the two women's eyes met his ice-cold one. He pulled a small device out of his pocket and played around with it before throwing it to the redhead. The two of them were able to see a black and white shot of you on the small camera.
"Your sweet little sister. She will be useful for the success of my plans," he grinned devilishly and the two siblings took another look at the device in their hands. You were trembling uncontrollably in fear and with a look of panic on your face, you tried desperately to fight against the amount of cold water that was increasing slowly in the watertank you were trapped in. "And if you don't cooperate, she'll soon run out of air."
The tension in the warehouse reached its peak when Malverne stood triumphantly. His cold eyes fixed on the two siblings who were forced to be in his power. The two siblings looked at each other briefly, their minds quick as lightning as they considered how they could save you from this life-threatening situation before deciding to play his game. After all, it was your life that was now in the hands of a madman. "What do you want from us?" the redhead asked through gritted teeth, her anger running unbearably through every fiber of her body.
"Very wise of you, Danvers. You're going to help me get my father out of jail. If you don't get him out within the next six hours-" he threatened with a malicious grin and flipped a small switch in his other hand that displayed a timer on the camera. "She dies within a very short time. You have no choice."
Kara clenched her fists, her knuckles already losing blood and turning white, but she knew she had to proceed carefully. "Hop, hop, Supergirl. You don't have much time left." the blonde nodded hesitantly and he disappeared back into the darkness. The two siblings were tense as they were forced to cooperate with the enemy to save you. But in the hearts of both women they swore that Malverne's sinister plans would not go unanswered and that they would receive punishment.
While Kara and Alex reluctantly took every opportunity to hatch a plan, they tried to mislead him with a clever but stressful situation. While J'onn posed as Supergirl, Kara activated her superpowers and attacked him from behind.
When both Alex and J'onn as Supergirl took advantage of his attention and negotiated with him, the blonde took advantage of the moment of surprise. She shot forward and grabbed him in a lightning-quick movement, throwing him against the wall. Alex immediately followed her, her hands gripping his neck in a tight grip. He could only watch helplessly as his plans collapsed.
"You didn't think we'd give up so easily, did you?" Alex spoke in a threatening tone while Kara fixed him with an icy stare. They left him in the hands of the Martian who took him to the DEO and they rushed to the water tank where you were trapped and still fighting for your life. The water level rose threateningly and you were already gasping for air to the last millimeter. “Y/n, hold on!”
With her strength and speed, the blonde threw herself at the tempered safety glass until it began to shatter and you flowed out of the tank with the flood of water. The relief was palpable, but the joy of your safety was short-lived and the hardships took their toll.
Exhausted and panting in panic, you collapsed in her arms with a choking gasp, gasping for air as your siblings exchanged frightened looks. "She's having an asthma attack!" The redhead whispered, her expression serious as she realized that neither you nor any of them had an inhaler with them. "She needs to go to the hospital. There's no time to waste!"
The blonde nodded in agreement and the blonde gently lifted you into her arms. Alex also clung to Kara before she flew into the air. The night air was cool as she flew with you over the city, reaching the hospital at breathtaking speed. Doctors immediately rushed over to take care of you while Kara and Alex waited anxiously, hoping that you would regain your strength soon.

Fairy Tales
Fandom: Supergirl
Relationships: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Original Danvers/Luthor Children, Jess, Zatara, Zatanna, Billy Batson, Lillian Luthor, Alex Danvers, Kelly Olsen, Kanna (original character), Krypto,
Summary: Lena finally has the work and home life balance that she wants and is excited to get to spend the next two weeks that she has off with the girls while Kara is away. She believes that it will be smooth sailing, but things are not as they seem.
Word Count: 2,693
Chapter: 1/7
A couple of months ago Lena felt overwhelmed that she was constantly choosing her job over her children. She constantly missed events and nearly spiraled when she thought that she was failing her children. However, after making the decision to step back from work and focus on the girls, she felt a sense of balance and inner peace. When she hired her friend Sam Arias as her COO, she initially thought that it would be a six month transition of her handing over most of the reins of the company to her. However, Lena was impressed with Sam’s adaptability. It took Sam one month to become acquainted with everything. The last two weeks she transitioned from coming in six days a week to now only going into the office one day a week and working only a couple of days at home. She would now be able to be home once the girls get off from school. Her new arrangement finally gave her the time to focus on the girls and on projects that she was interested in instead of the Board.
Currently, Lena was doing some of the most difficult work she has come across. Lena sat in her living room on the couch going over a file of a person of interest: Sam Waterson. She sipped on a glass of wine while staring intensely into the details that her detectives compiled.
After going through the file for five more minutes, she scoffed, “There is nothing special about this kid.”
She shakes her head and reads the file again just to make sure she didn’t miss anything.
She then proceeded to go over another file. It had list of 6 names and profiles of each person. Each of them had potential.
“Which of you can replace Sam I wonder” thought Lena.
She was so engrossed in the file that she didn’t realize that Kara had arrived home.
“Hey babe. I’m home. I come bearing gifts.”
“Hi darling. I have dinner already set up on the table” said Lena while still staring at the file.
“I know I am late, but I thought I would get a little warmer welcome” said Kara pouting while holding a box of chocolates and roses.
“I love you too dear” said Lena while flipping through the file still.
Kara's eyes narrowed and quickly walked to Lena to see what had her so engrossed. Her eyes widened when she saw the contents of the folder.
“Lena.”
“Yes dear” said Lena, still looking at the file.
“Why do you have a file on a couple of Alexa and Liza’s classmates?”
“Alexa needs new friends” said Lena while looking at the file.
“Alexa does have a friend.”
“There is something wrong there” Lena muttered while sipping her wine.
Kara rolled her eyes and asked, “Is this because Alexa said that he was her boyfriend? You remember she explained to us that he is a boy that happens to be a friend. She didn’t mean anything more by that.”
“No.”
“Then what is it? You have never been this way about any other friend the girls have made.”
Lena sighed, rubbed her temple, and said, “I guess there is two parts. One, she just dropped her other friends around the time that Sam and her became friends. He is the only one she talks to in class outside of Liza.”
“That isn’t too unusual. Kids constantly change friends in school.”
“Well, the stronger part is that I just have a gut feeling. Every time I look at that kid something screams wrong to me. I don’t know how to explain it. And my instincts tell me to do what my family normally does. Investigate. I know it is too much, but…”
Lena put down the file, sighed, and put her face in her hands. Kara sat down wrapped her arms around Lena.

This is the Part Where You Recognize This Was Your Fault and You Made it Mine -Kara Danvers Imagine (Supergirl)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: This is the Part Where You Recognize This Was Your Fault and You Made it Mine
Pairing: Kara Danvers X Reader
Based On: I Love This Part
Word Count: 1,102 words
Warning(s): firing, feelings of betrayal
Summary: After getting sent away by the D.E.O, (Y/n) turns to one person that they trusted to never turn their back on their friends. However, the world is never that predictable.
Author's Note: I originally had a very different plan for this, but it's fine.
SONDER - THE WRECKS WRITING CHALLENGE MASTERLIST
----------------------------------
"What was that?!"
Yup. Expected that reaction.
J'onn stormed over to me from the main table.
"I was taking the best course of action-"
"You were ordered to back down-"
"That would've gotten multiple people killed," I said. "I would not let that happen. I did the best thing to save as many people as I could. I will not apologize for that."
"You should," he snapped. "Because I warned you before. I told you what the next course of action would be if you went against my direct order again."
"You're kidding right," I asked. "I saved people! Isn't that what this entire organization is about?"
"(Y/n) (Y/l/n), you are hereby relieved of duty-"
"J'onn," I tried to cut him off.
"You are no longer a member of the D.E.O," he continued. "You can either vacate on your own, or you will be escorted out."
The entire room was silent. I was almost certain the entire building fell silent. I looked over J'onn's shoulder to Alex and Winn. They both looked shocked, but neither one said anything. Kara was nowhere to be found.
"I... I... J'onn, please-"
"You can leave on your own or be escorted out."
I looked around the room again before turning around and starting to leave. I tried to keep any tears from falling until after I got out of the building and took off flying.
That night, I found myself curled up outside Kara's door. I had changed my clothes- too many memories- but I didn't have the strength to do anything else.
"(Y/n)?"
I looked up when I heard Kara's voice. I was still crying. I forced a smile.
"Hey," I said. My voice was shaking.
"Come on in," she replied, unlocking the door. I stood up and followed her. She didn't speak up again until the door was shut again. "I... I heard about what J'onn did."
I nodded.
"(Y/n), I'm so sorry."
"I... I need to be there," I muttered. "I... I want to help people, Kara."
"I know."
"Can you... Can you talk to him?"
"I... I don't think I can," she explained. "I'm sorry, but I... I don't have any power here."
"You're kidding, right? Kara. You're Supergirl. You can talk to him. You can do something. You would've made the same call as me. Hell, your cousin would've made the same call as me!"
"(Y/n)-"
"You really aren't supporting me here?"
"I'm sorry-"
"Forget it."
I started heading toward the door.
"(Y/n)-"
"I'll figure this out for myself."
--time skip--
After that, I was working on my own.
I continued helping. Making the choices that were best for me. In the end, that's all that mattered. I was doing the right thing.
The rest of the team didn't like it though.
The more Kara and I bumped into each other, the more hostile she seemed. I didn't understand it at first. Then, I just got angry. Angry and tired.
All I wanted to do was help. She didn't seem to care about that.
After I landed on the ground away from the emergency, I heard someone land behind me.
"What were you doing-"
"My job," I held a hand up to Kara. "I saved multiple people."
"By getting in my way."
"I don't work for you or J'onn anymore," I said. "I'm doing what I think is right. That's the only opinion that matters now."
"What the hell is wrong with you-"
"Nothing," I snapped.
"I don't believe-"
"I am tired of being questioned and insulted at every damn scene I show up at," I explained. "You're welcome for helping and saving people. Do not get in my face for not following you and your orders. Not in charge of me, Kara. Get over it. It's you and J'onn's fault that we're here."
Before Kara could reply, I took off back toward home.
I landed on my patio and did everything in my power to not yell or break something.
All I could do was keep trying to do the right thing. I just couldn't handle being met with the pushback every single time I did that.
I was going to continue protecting this city. If they didn't like it, then they could find another city to save.
I was just letting myself relax after that day's incident when there was a knock on my door.
I looked through the peephole and rolled my eyes before pulling the door open.
"Hello, Kara," I said. "What do you want?"
"We need to talk about what happened," she stormed past me and into my apartment.
"Come on in," I muttered before closing the door. "What's there to talk about?"
"You jumped in my way-"
"You were backing down in the name of J'onn's orders. I just stepped up."
Her jaw clenched.
"I could've worked with you guys," I said. "I tried at every opportunity. After everyone decided that I wasn't doing a good job following instructions and deserved to lose my job, I did the best thing I could. I could've just as easily turned my back on you the same way you did to me. But I didn't. I continued helping people."
She looked down.
"I wanted to work with you," I shrugged. "It's not my fault that no one would listen to me. I am now doing my best."
There was a pause.
"If there's nothing else to say, I think you should go."
Kara stood there for a few more seconds before starting to walk toward the door, "Good luck."
"You too," I muttered.
The door shut and the apartment was silent again.
I turned on the TV, trying to avoid the silence any longer.
In reality, I could find a middle ground. But I had this feeling in my stomach that I was going to be met with pushback from an entire government agency. I needed to find my own footing until I knew they would hear me as an equal and not an obstacle. It was not my fault that I was left on my own.
"Today seemed to be a golden day for the city's newest hero," I turned to the TV when I heard the reporter, now actually paying attention. "They seemed to even outshine Supergirl's abilities on the scene of an emergency today."
I threw my hands up in excitement. Holy shit.
I knew this would piss someone off, but right now, I had my moment. My moment where my actions were appreciated more than anything else. Nothing other than who I am.
And that moment determined that all of it was worth it.

kara’s first story
pairing: autistic!kara danvers and lena luthor word count: disclaimer: NOT ALL AUTISM IS THE SAME.
“Clark! Clark! Clark!” Kara ran into her apartment, not even thinking about taking her shoes off at the moment. She’d deal with that later. “Clark!”
“Whoa, speedy, I’m here. What’s up?”
“Clark look! That’s Lena!”
“That is Lena.” Clark took the magazine from Kara, reading the front cover. “Wait, Kara… You got published?”
“That’s my story! Snapper put my story in the magazine!”
“Kara, this is amazing!”
“We haved to call Alex!”
“Have to, Kar. But yes, let’s call her!”
“Have to call Alex. Have to call.” Kara corrected herself. “We have to call Alex.”
“That we do. Do you want to invite Maggie over too?”
“And Lena!”
“I’ll call Lena and see if she’s free--”
“No. I want to.”
Clark’s eyebrows shot up. “You do?”
“I want to go see Lena.”
“Well, she’s probably busy…”
Kara took off her glasses and concentrated hard, trying to focus on the sound of Lena’s heartbeat. When she found it, she scrunched her face up as she listened for her voice. She heard Lena talking to Jess, about her story. Lena was talking about her!
“She’s not busy. She’s talking to Jess. I can go see her!”
“Kara, I think you’re forgetting something very important.”
Kara turned around, running back over to Clark. She grabbed the magazine from him and bought him in for a hug, digging her face into his shoulder slightly. She grabbed her keys from the table and ran out, smiling really big. Her very first story got published! That was unheard of. Especially with Snapper. The blonde couldn’t help but feel the urge to fly to Lena’s office, but she remembered that Lena didn’t know she was Supergirl, and she couldn’t do that yet. With a pout, she walked the five blocks to the big L-Corp building, letting the sun's energy fuel her for when she went to her sparring lessons with Alex later. She walked inside the building and gave the guard the badge Lena gave her for special access, and was lead over to a special hidden elevator. Lena said it would be just for the two of them, if they didn’t include Jess. Kara pressed the button and plugged her ears, waiting for the elevator to make it up to Lena’s floor.
“Lena! Lena! Lena!”
“Ah, just the person I was hoping to see today!” Lena stumbled back as Kara practically tackled her in a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around the brunette. “What news do you have for me today?”
“Lena I got punished!”
“Punished?”
“No. Wrong word Kara. Wrong word.” Kara’s face scrunched up into a pout as she dug her nails into her wrist, not noticing Lena’s concerned face. “Wrong word.”
“Hey.” Lena gently placed her hand onto Kara’s arm, using her other hand to tilt Kara’s head so she was looking at her. “Hey, it’s okay. Don’t be upset.”
“But I used the wrong word.I have to use the right word so people know what I’m talking about.”
“It’s okay. I use wrong words all the time.” Lena smiled lightly. “Now show me your news! I wanna hear all about the life of Kara Danvers since I last saw you.”
-------
“Kara, where have you been?” Alex rushed over to Kara, bringing her in for a hug. “You missed sparing today.”
“I was with Lena.”
“Lena, the one you wrote the story on?”
“You sawed my story too?”
“Saw. I saw your story, yes.” Alex smiled. “I got nervous.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Hey, you’re okay. You were excited.” Alex smiled. “And I loved your story. It was very well written. I love the words you used.”
“Really?”
“I do. I’m so proud of you, Kara. I told you that you could get published.”
Kara beamed. “Everyone is gonna read my story, Alex! They’re gonna love Lena!”
“I hope they will. For now, let’s get you back to Vasquez so we can work on your sparring, yeah?”
“Okay!”
After sparring was over, Kara took a shower and changed into her street clothes, and going home with Alex. The two of them went back to Kara’s apartment and walked inside, smiling when they saw Clark putting up a “CONGRATULATIONS” banner. Maggie walked around the corner with a tin full of cupcakes and placed them on the counter, opening her arms and waiting for Kara to give her a hug. Alex nudged her forward and Kara shuffled over and leant into Maggie. She wasn’t ready for full hugs yet, so all she did was lean into her body. It worked the same, because Maggie would always wrap her arms around Kara.
“Congrats, Little Danvers.”
“Thank you.”
“Hey Kara, I got you a present.”
“I got a present?”
“Close your eyes.”
Kara’s hands flew up to her face and she started humming, rocking her body back and forth. She waited there a few seconds and tried to listen really closely, but whatever Clark was grabbing was very quiet. She waited a few more seconds before feeling a tap on her shoulder, which she knew was a signal to open her eyes.
“Lena!”
The blonde went straight to Lena, smiling widely as she bought the brunette CEO in for a hug. She could vaguely hear Maggie make some sort of comment about how she never got hugs, and stuck her tongue out at the detective. Lena laughed and Kara's heart fluttered. She wasn't sure why, but Lena's laugh was one of her most absolute favorite sounds in the whole wide world. She could listen to Lena laugh for hours on end and not get tired of it. That was one thing she loved about Lena. That she could hang out with her and do normal people things. Lena didn't see her as just an autistic girl. No, Lena saw her for something more than what she was. Lena saw her for her true self, and it made Kara feel like a million bucks. Gone were the days of everyone faking being Kara's friend, and now she could hang out with her people and not have to worry about who she was. It was amazing. Lena was amazing. Everything was perfect.
For now.
