Man-Bat! ooooooooh okay yes I'll take Kirk Langstrom. A really good Kirk story needs a few elements: Kirk being a determined scientist; the tragedy of how the Man-Bat serum affects him and his mind; his attempts to hold onto his humanity; his family.

Highlight Man-Bat stories for me: Man-Bat vol 2, which is the one where Aaron Langstrom is born, as even when you KNOW where it's going it's still a tragedy; Batman Chronicles #15 in the lead up to NML, with the story where Kirk takes Barbara flying; every time Aaron's on page, but particularly Batman Chronicles #17 (where he's sniffing out food in NML) and GK #42-45 where Aaron's hiding in the cave; and Streets of Gotham #5-6 for the Kirk and Helena team up.

Jeremiah Arkham. Oh, Jeremiah. Well I would say an essential part of a Jeremiah story is questioning why his family keeps running this insane asylum at all? If you pushed me my favourite story he appears in is probably Underworld Unleashed: Batman Devil's Asylum, but honestly that's a better Bruce-about-Arkham story than a Jeremiah one in particular. It does however hit a bunch of the Jeremiah tropes: he is very well-meaning and optimistic towards his patients; he makes unfortunate decisions while trying to keep their welfare in mind; he's a bit crazy.

His decision during Road to No Man's Land to let everyone out of Arkham as the city got cut off also is hmmmmm very Jeremiah.

Otherwise I might point to say Arkham Reborn and the Streets of Gotham sequel over Jeremiah really going crazy and becoming the new Black Mask.

So… who’s King Barou™️ getting shipped with in the CO universe?

You: *asks a really straightforward question*

Me: lemme concoct backstories for fifteen other characters, then I'll get back to you

I wish I was joking 💀 but also I love getting these kind of questions, it lets me be indulgent about my AU! So thank you 💗

For context: I am writing a Kunigiri longfic set in 2033-34. This has involved making up fifteen years worth of post-canon life events for the principal cast. Barou doesn't feature prominently, but Kunigami recently revealed that he had a crush on the King back in their Blue Lock days.

Kunigami has moved on by now (like... reeeallly moved on), but Barou's still around, being his good ol' tsundy self. Does he have a partner? Well...

To figure this out, I had to remind myself who's actually on the national team with Barou and work through their dynamics. So...

Sixteen character backstories under the cut, eventually getting to your question.

The following characters have been named in Cassis Orange as being on the Japanese national team, in order of position/role:

Isagi (FW)

Rin (FW)

Shidou (FW)

Barou (FW)

Bachira (Wing)

Otoya (Wing)

Nagi (CAM)

Hiori (CAM)

Sae (CAM)

Karasu (CDF)

Sendou (CDF)

Aryu (FB)

Niko (CB)

Aiku (CB)

Gagamaru (GK)

Fukaku (GK)

This means that 2018 Blue Lock alumni occupy sixteen places in the squad (which should have 23-25 places). Probably two or three too many—ah well. I've alleged that some of the other squad members participated in the second Blue Lock program (which took place in... 2023, right around now lol). There's likely a few other older players from before Blue Lock's time, but it's really Isagi and friends' team.

Everybody knows team squads are synonymous with dating pools in Blue Lock. So, in considering who Barou might be shipped with, I had to think through where everyone was at in life, come January 2034, in my particular AU. Here's the lowdown:

Aiku (34) is currently working through his second divorce. He has a couple of kids. He remains good friends with his teammate Sendou (33), who plays for a Japanese club normally and does a lot of promotional work with sportwear companies.

Karasu (33), Otoya (32) and Shidou (33) represent something of a clique within the squad. The three play for French clubs, alongside Rin (31), who resents being mentioned in the same paragraph as them. Everyone but Otoya is outwardly single, as far as the media knows. Otoya dates influencers and idols.

Because Rin's home club is in France, he doesn't care to rent or purchase a place in Japan. Hiori (32), a long-time friend and Tokyo resident, agreed to let him stay at his apartment for the duration of the tournament. Hiori is single, and streams part-time. Players enjoy the juxtaposition between his gentle personality and the violent games he plays. He plays for the Kawasaki Breakers.

Sae (33) is based in the UK. He has won the Ballon D'Or twice. Although there's been speculation about the nature of his long-term friendship with Shidou, he refuses to speak about his personal life to the press.

Isagi (32) has lead his home club (Bastard Munchen) to victory in the Champions League twice, and he is widely regarded as one of the finest players of his generation. This World Cup will be the third he's contested, and his first as captain. He has stated publicly that third time's the charm. He is openly single, based in Munich. He started a charity to promote football in developing countries in 2027.

Bachira (32) has played for mostly Spanish clubs over the years. He's an advocate for youth football and does outreach work in schools both in Japan and Spain. He has auctioned his own artworks for charity. Not much is know about his personal life, despite his outgoing personality.

Nagi (32) was the face of Japanese football for the 2030 World Cup, in association with Reo (32). The two of them were inseparable following their days in Blue Lock, choosing to play at the same or neighbouring clubs throughout their careers. However, due to his father's untimely death, Reo stepped down from football two years previously. Since then, Nagi has been media shy. Despite his relative youth, there are rumours circulating that he intends to retire soon.

Niko (31) is a formidable centre-back who (with Aiku) forms the iron defence of the Japanese team. He's open about his neurodivergence and advocates for the inclusion of kids like himself in sports. It's understood he has a partner living in England, where he's based.

Fukaku (34) plays for a Japanese team, and has indicated his intention to retire after the 2034 World Cup tournament. As for Gagamaru (33), the man known as the world's best goalkeeper is notoriously reclusive. He is picky about what clubs he plays for, prioritising proximity to nature and the mountains over salary offers. As a result, he's mostly played for German clubs. Nothing is known about his relationship status.

FInally...

That leaves Barou (33) and Aryu (34). The duo play for Fiorentina. It's reported that the two share a villa together in the city's outskirts. Aryu has dabbled in modelling and fashion for many years, and his self-titled brand is steadily growing in renown.

Aryu speaks of Barou as his glamorous partner... but he calls next to everything glamorous, leaving the media stumped.

Barou, meanwhile, refuses to entertain fluff piece journalists and has neglected to comment on his relationship with the towering wingback. There is no record of any public affection between them both. However, the two are certainly very close. Last year, they both began sporting matching black rings.

i already said this on another post but you're not seeing it lol so gonna say it here again: the actor for batman on GK has already been cast. i forgot his name but he's already cast probably for flashback moments

butttttttt you mentioning jensen as batman DID ring a bell in that when snyder took over the DCU he announced that they were planning to do another batman movie (they've got like 15000 already) but this time would focus on an older batman mentoring his kid (I think?) so jensen fits that older criteria cuz batman is normally supposed to be in his late 20s-early 30s. and they also mentioned that they were trying to stop casting different people for the same roles and instead wanted to use the same actors for the same roles ... and jensen is the voice actor of batman ... and they I believe did announced that another voice actor for a DCU character from animated series or movie is gonna fulfill a role in the new DCU (or maybe I'm making that last bit up lol)

ORRRRR maybe jensen is gonna play a small part on the CW GK that leads into a bigger role in the DCU TV universe but maybe on HBO? maybe it's all but decided that GK will move to HBO after their first season. or making a small appearance on a CW show on DC property to launch the idea of a DC series on HBO could also be? idk I just need jensen and misha together on my screen cuz I will DIE. it would be fucking glorious. like you asking me how I wanna die???? OK. So I've gotten questions a few times about like "hey, what about spinoff idea?" for the guys. Whether that be SPN Universe or, hey, do you think XYZ Misha gets a Two Face Spinoff?

OK guys. I need you to understand. You guys get to very casually consume, argue about, and delete the efforts of the results, but TV is very hard work and very expensive to make. It doesn't look like it when there's pretty pictures on your TV for you to argue about, but it is.

So first of all, I can guarantee you, anyone that goes But Why Not My Spinoff Idea, even if they're salty af about The Winchesters angle, has not thought about the full ramifications of their idea. 100%.

I got one sent to me for basically The Castiel Show about his time traveling adventures and stuff he did in ancient past. And you know what, you're right, that's fun as hell in like, Ao3. But one, you're still trying to lean entirely on internal existing demo, without building out around new audiences. Two, anything you do is gonna smack of predestination anyway, and anyone even trying to bring that pitch needs to have it come pre-loaded with major explanations and displays of subversion off the bat. You need that concept PLUS the Real Moral and shit, and you're gonna need that before anybody humors ANYTHING. Then you gotta unpack how you gonna get the budget to do Tour De History without being a joke.

That's just one example, in the SPN relevant ones, because it's easier to use that as a language you guys understand. But I hear questions as far as like "if GK does well and Two Face is popular, will misha get a spinoff?"

And like, no. Stop. One, Two Face is already hugely popular and already has a variety of special POV content in the franchise. If you are interested in DC or Two Face, go enjoy the content that already exists. If you are interested in GK, I would hope it encompasses more than Misha in your head, even if he is super important. But of all the shows to get a spinoff, it's gonna be the younger kids.

Now, there's a likely chance Misha becomes a recurring Two Face face for a corner of the franchise, like berlanti's new verse. That's not really a spinoff, it's just staying the faceclaim as it builds out. That's likely. But if you're coming in asking, before a show airs, and disregarding the EXISTING popularity of that character, if your favorite actor is gonna Get His Own Spinoff From It, odds are, you aren't really thinking about the ramifications of your wishlist there any more than the time traveling Castiel AU. And you're definitely not thinking remotely about the other performers.

Yes guys, Misha is very important on GK. No guys, he shouldn't be the only thing you care about to the point you disregard the core of DC canon and its content or popularity Before Your Fave Was Ever Involved.

TV is hard work. Having an idea about your favorite actor doing your favorite things is awesome, but I hate to say it guys, that's what Ao3 is for. And the way thoughts arrive on Ao3 is VERY DIFFERENT from the way thoughts arrive broadcasted on your television during primetime. Your stories are great for you, and fun to tell or read, those ideas can be great, but I need everyone to start breaking down this new idea where Every Idea Is Worth A Spinoff just because Jensen made one and Jared followed suit. We're in a new age where shit isn't ordered like that just for the fuck of it anymore.

So basically, begging people to THINK. If you're asking me because when you compare it to reality, it sounds like a pipe dream, and you hope I'm gonna reaffirm your pipe dream, don't ask me based on that, because you probably won't get the response you want.

I can't speak toward the slavery joke because I don't recall it, or remember it, I'll be absolutely honest on that point. His Taliban joke wasn't a joke re: the Taliban at all, but a joke made in poor taste at the expense of the US government and their mission into the middle east to capture and kill Osama Bin Ladin iirc.

It was in poor taste, and many people didn't understand it and so he removed it and wrote an apology and explanation out and left it at that. Misha is blue, and advocates for people of all creeds and cultures but he's also a Masshole so his humor is indicative of that. I can't claim to know him personally, since what we see is a cultivated persona he allows us to see but this much I can attest to. Regarding Karla, that was never a joke. The series and the filming process kept him awake at night and gave him nightmares. He collects no royalties and during the making of reached out to family members of victims and victims to advocate. He doesn't like anybody watching that film and I have never personally seen it for my own reasons. As far as his being bisexual and the joke there is concerned. Sexuality is fluid. I'm far from the first person in this fandom to be aware of Vicki Vantoch's book and all of what is cited within it but to claim bisexuality is to identify personally with it and with sexuality being a spectrum and me merely being a fan of Misha I can't speak to his exact sexuality or what he interprets it as being. The actual comment, however, came about at a con and it was a supporting one not one made with any malicious intent. I don't know what's being referenced re: Gotham Knights but Misha has always been known for a degree of self-deprecating humor and so I'm inclined to think it was something along those lines. I just woke up so I tried to address everything here but I might have fallen short on some commentary so if you have any additional questions lmk.

Top 5 Gotham Knights ships

1. Duela/Turner - I am only half-way through the show but I have been in love with them since Turner's apology to her in the pilot xDD Their dynamic is flawless and I can't believe it only exists in GK.

2. Carrie/Brody - I think it's bc I've recently watched the episode where they are at the hospital together, but they were such an unexpected dynamic that works so well. We need more, more, more.

3. Harper/Stephanie - There is a lot of tension here and given that this Harper is bisexual I am wondering if the show will go there. I kinda hope so.

4. Stephanie/Turner - In constrast, my enjoyment of this ship relies a lot on the show not going there. But I am so soft for them as they are! Iirc the last episode I watched ended with Turner telling her how lucky he is to have her as a best friend xDD

5. Carrie/Duela - It's all due to the ep where they go to question Edith Monroe. They were hilarious. And they worked so well together!

Tbh this was hard to choose bc I basically ship everyone/everyone in this show. When it comes to the kids. Couldn't care less about the adults.

i have been slowly losing interest in the sport since the pandemic hit, but i used to be a big football guy and an inter supporter since i was a kid. greatest of all time? obviously a very hard question, but of the ones i've really seen play, and remember enough of (roughly mid to late 2000's onwards), it's hard not to say Buffon, who was the best gk in the world for a good 3-4 years if not more, or Pirlo, that man felt like he was playing a different sport truly, unreal feet and brain.

1. It's a tie between Cullen & Stephanie. Brody also grew on me in latest eps!

2. Hmm, does this mean a scene where they are are both present? In that case I think the fight between them in ep 12 was pretty cool.

Otherwise my horndog brain is screaming "any scene where actor man's tits were out!!"

3. It'd have to be Sharper. A honorable mention to Cullen & his bestie at the police station.

4. Oof. Idk if this counts as development but Rebecca. Watching first couple of episodes I would never have guessed what she was up to.

However, I was positively overjoyed about Brody turning out to be a decent fella!

Honorable mention to the revel about Turner's biological parents. It really made me appreciate Bruce even more so.

7. This is a loaded question. Easy and mindless answer is that I find him incredibly hot. More loaded answer is that anytime he is on screen I get sad because he is a living and brwatging reminder of all the trauma Harvey had to live thru. In a sense I don't really see him as this separate character to Harvey. It's just his defence mechanism that he has to build because of all the shit things he went thru as a kid.

9. Well, I'd reveal at the end of S1 that Bruce is somehow alive just to have him and Harvey slip eachother tongue in s2 😌 (Bruce is played by Jackles, obviously)

10. S2 setup was so good it made me even more mad that the show got cancelled. I would have loved to see how Harvey's story would have continued as well as if he and Duela would have had any kind of a relationship in the future. Turner getting abducted also has me super hooked. Too bad well never see where that goes! Also I wanted to see mor of Sharper being superhero girlfriends!

Listen, I know it must sound like a groundbreaking concept, but it's completely fine to not like one actor (or one person, more generally speaking). What's not fine is obsessing over how much you don't like this person to the point of sending anon hate messages to people who don't share your opinion. Misha is a good person. One of the best. He's done so many good things for the world, between charity work and political activism. If you want to misread his words or blame him for some joke you found offensive, do it somewhere else, thanks. I'm not interested in this kind of hate messages.

I am not a Jared anti. I don't think he's evil, but he's problematic, so if you want that kind of drama, maybe you should look in that direction instead. He was literally arrested while being drunk with charges of assault with injury, has a tattoo that supports gun rights and brought up jokingly mentions of incest and pedophilia while replying to a question meant for Jensen about Castiel's confession in the first convention after the finale.

I'm not gonna sit here and talk badly about him, though, or anyone else for what matters because I'm not interested in that. I'm just a kind person with a kind blog, so if you have spite to spare, please send it somewhere else.
