If you haven’t heard of kinesiology tape yet, listen up! I first used kinesiology tape (or k-tape) in PT for my knee issues about 10 years ago. I swear by it, and it definitely helps soft tissue / muscle / tendon pain. Watch some YouTube videos on how to apply, get yourself some. 💙🥄 You’ll thank me!

I’ve been looking into safety for trans tape and I haven’t seen any posts on here with all the tips in one place and so I’ll write them here, for anyone else thinking of using it:
Before applying, make sure to wash skin to make sure there are no oils or moisturisers on your skin
Make nipple covers. This can be done with trans tape by folding a bit in half and sticking that on, so no adhesive side touches
Cut each strip with round corners, so that they are softer on the skin
For bigger chests, laying down whilst applying it can help
Don’t stretch it fully when you apply it, so that you don’t restrict your chest dangerously.
Remove slowly with the use of oil and or a hot shower, making sure to be gentle
While it seems as though there are a lot of things to do to be safe with trans tape, it is a safer alternative to binding and can be worn for far longer. I’ll put other resources I’ve found below:
Safety information for binding or taping chests
Application manual for trans tape
How to apply trans tape for large chests - video
Shop for a starter kit for trans tape
Or, kinesiology tape can be a cheaper alternative, which can be found on amazon just by searching ‘kinesiology tape’
If anyone else has any tips they’d be appreciated!!!

Okay so I’ve tried taping my knees in the past with KT tape and stuff like it but I haven’t done it in a while so I decided to get some target brand tape. It claims to be water resistant and designed to last for 3 days so I decided eh it’s about $6 ($14 less than KT branded) so let’s try it. One of the strips didn’t even last 10 minutes and the others didn’t last more than an hour. Like wtf. I wasn’t even in water I was just walking around and sweating a little (sure a little for me is probably a lot for other people cause I sweat a lot but still) how the fuck can it claim to be water resistant if it can’t even withstand some sweat??????
I just wanted something to help with my pain and stability today while I worked but I guess that’s not gonna happen. Does anyone have any tricks for getting tape to stay? Or any alternatives other than braces cause sometimes I don’t want to have to wear something so bulky especially if it’s just gonna end up sliding down anyways.

The precut kinesiology tape is definitely the way to go.
It’s been a while since I’ve used k-tape for hyperextended joint pain but I’m pleasantly surprised by how much it helps. It’s like a hug for my sore joints.

Knut Tip #1
Kinesiology (KT) tape is awesome. Joints hurt? KT tape. Breasts? KT tape! (Use like Trans Tape) For less than 10 USD it is so worth it. It can be found it in the pharmacy by the braces. Also online

KK day 1 of trying K tape instead of transtape.
K tape is the exact same thing as transtape but it's like the generic version. The K stands for kinesology or something else I can't spell.
So far K tape is way easier to put on, mainly because it comes in pre-cut things and then I just cut those in half. It's also not as floppy, so it doesn't form as many bubbles or get stuck to itself.
Does transtape sell pre-cut things? They should. It's much less hassle. I just watched one of their videos where someone says them not having any precut options is a benefit. No it's not. I want something as easy as possible. Having to cut it myself every time is not as easy as possible.
also, you can buy K tape at walmart for $4 as opposed to having to order it online.
It also has a smoother texture on the top which I like better.
Also Walks got a roll of the black kind which actually works better than the light beige because that was too dark to blend in properly and this way it just kinda looks like I have a sports bra on.
This also so far as not started unsticking just because I'm wearing deodorant. Though this time I put the deodorant on yesterday as opposed to today (it's a kind that actually lasts 3 days)
so so far K tape is even more convenient than transtape. If transtape offered precut ones and all you had to do was unpeel the back, they'd get more stars. Also if they didn't have that obnoxious "all chemical names I don't know how to pronounce are evil and cocoanut oil will save everything" on the back of their stupid little lip balm or whaetver it was they sent.
have I mentioned I fucking hate it when people pretend things are evil just because they can't be bothered to pronounce the scientific foruma for that chemical. Like. Hello. Everything is chemicals, motherfucker, you're not going to say water is evil because it can be called dihydrogen monoxide.
Anyways update November 26 2022: K Tape is easier to put on and take off, and has a nicer texture, BUT it stretches while you're wearing it, so it ends up not really doing anything at all. So Transtape is better overall.

This is niche as hell, but target changed the formulation of their store brand kinesiology tape and I want to cry, like actually cry.
It was the best, cheapest tape I could find and now the price has increased by $2 and the make of the product changed. It’s in “fancier packaging” and looks and acts more like the KT name brand tape, which for some reason just doesn’t cut it for me.
Granted I rely on kinesiology tape more than a human should, but I have tried sooooo many different brands and the Target tape felt like a hidden gem.
All is not lost however. I have an appointment with orthotics on Thursday and will be finally getting braces for instability and osteoarthritis!
