THIS. THIS IS WHY I TALK ABOUT INTERSEX PEOPLE IN RELATION TO TRANS ISSUES.
YOU CAN'T JUST LABEL PERFECTLY HEALTHY INTERSEX PEOPLE AS DISABLED AND FORCE THEM TO USE SEPARATE ACCOMMODATIONS.
NOT ONLY IS THAT INTERSEXPHOBIC BUT ITS ABELIST AS HELL.
TERFs get SO MAD. "Stop pulling intersex people into your trans agenda." NO. I'M NOT PULLING THEM INTO MY AGENDA. NOT ONLY IS THIS TRANSPHOBIC, BUT ITS LITERALLY ATTACKING INTERSEX PEOPLE.

When discussing the design of schools for safety/security and their need for adequate mental health/wellness support, it's important that we don't forget the larger societal role of gun control legislation.

Jonathan Smith: Why I’m Voting for Brandon
Tumblr media
I’ll be voting for Brandon Woodard in August and November because he is passionately committed to our local community and is dedicated to engaging others in his efforts to progressing Kansas forward.
Brandon is an advocate for education and empowering students to pursue their dreams. His work for the University of Kansas demonstrates that Brandon sees the value in funding education and providing the best possible resources for students. Brandon takes the time to listen to those around him so that he can fully understand their needs and the needs of his community rather than deciding what is best for them. He believes in the necessity of providing access to proper and affordable medical care and ensuring that access is equitable. He is personable and encouraging, and truly dedicated to serving others.
Please join me in voting for Brandon Woodard for Kansas House Rep on August 7th and November 6th, 2018!

RT @shannonrwatts: Wichita police arrested a 21-year-old man who showed a 9-year-old and 10-year-old his gun, let them hold it, and then left it unsecured when he went to the store. The 9-year-old picked up a gun and unintentionally shot and killed an 18-year-old. #ksleg https://t.co/JF36kOF97e 2PLAN22 http://twitter.com/2PLAN22/status/1304135225950310400

For the future of our planet, we need Democrats to stand up to Trump
Kaitlin Vaughn, JCYD Blogger — April 6, 2017
As President Donald Trump heats up his Twitter, it looks like we can expect our climate to do the same. With Republicans in control of Congress and the White House, President Trump appointed Scott Pruitt as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt is on record that he does not believe human C02 emissions are a leading cause of climate change, which is in direct contradiction to the stance of the agency he leads. Additionally, Trump’s budget is aiming to include cuts of 31% to EPA funding while slashing 50 EPA programs. Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney stated that EPA programs are “a waste of your money”.
Climate change is affecting the Earth now and will continue to have noticeably negative impact on the environment in the coming decades. Temperatures will continue to increase, sea levels will rise, and droughts will lengthen and become more frequent.  Arguably, investing in the environment is the most important thing we can do because we only have one – and its future is our future. What’s the point of increasing defense spending if the path we are on now decimates the very ground we want to plant a flag in and “defend?”
Taking action on the local level is one of the best things we can do to fight back against federal changes that are out of our control. By electing and retaining democrats in Johnson County and Kansas, we can help to send the message that we believe in the existence of climate change and want to take whatever steps are necessary to slow its effects and (we hope!) stop it. Equally important is understanding how local programs that are already in place function so that we can take advantage of all the tools available to us to aid in preserving the environment directly.
Johnson County and Kansas each have their own Department of Health and Environment. According to the 2015 annual report from the JoCo DHE, their environmental division has five key programs: the air quality program, the household hazardous waste program, the on-site water treatment program, the pool program, and the solid waste program. These local level programs provide key resources to residents and encourage accountability and sustainability. Every second Saturday of the month, JoCo hosts a household hazardous waste drop-off by appointment where residents can dispose of household chemicals - the next event will be held on Saturday 4/8/17. Along with basic recycling, correctly disposing of household chemicals is an easy and effective way to make a difference.
The 2017 calendar year includes some local elections with environmental impact. A special election will be held in Wichita on April 11th for a Kansas Congressional seat; the democratic candidate is James Thompson. According to the issues page of his website, he believes “climate change is a crisis we need to address immediately”. This election is fast approaching and phone banking and canvassing efforts are ongoing. JoCo elections will occur later this year for Water District #1 board members. The board takes action on issues presented by the public and approves improvement projects in the area; the effective handling of water projects directly influences the environment and area residents. The board holds public meetings once monthly at 10747 Renner Blvd. in Lenexa, KS – the next meeting will be held on Tuesday 4/11/17 at 7 PM. JCYD members are encouraged to attend to see how the board operates.
