I promise this is my last question but-is there any overlap between regular cosmetics and cosmetics used on cadavers?
your questions have been bangers tysm for the science corner moment!!! and yes, sometimes!
we do have specific cosmetics meant for mortuary use. they tend to be thicker and have better coverage so we can hide discolorations in the face and hands. they also don't rely on there being any heat or moisture to the skin to work well. some of them are wild colors, like highlighter orange or pink, so we can help bring some color back to the face.
but we use a lot of normal cosmetics too! normal nail polish, normal lipstick, normal eye makeup. we don't use mascara often, instead we use like a kohl liner and run it lightly through the lashes. lash and nail glue does not work well bc it relies on heat. most often we're using a combination of normal stuff and mortuary stuff, but every funeral home is different!

whats does your go to makeup look, look like? what do you use to achieve it?
my go to makeup look is natural to soft glam, my eyeliner isn’t listed but on an edgier day i will wear a black liner with a smoked water line. dolores haze is an inspiration for my daily makeup especially with those blushed cheeks and red lips. also lana del rey and vintage stars
Tumblr media Tumblr media
face: for a more dewy look i love the AOA (shopmissa.com) AQUA primer and makeup revolutions hydrate and conceal foundation + concealer or i use the $1 shopmissa pot concealers. if i want a more natural glow from within look, i will use my dior multipurpose palette but for a more mature sophisticated and lifted look i use my colorpop palette because it is more pigmented. The $1 AOA cream blush is if it’s a low effort day. for powder I use either Maybelline Fit Me or Colorpops No Filter Setting Powder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lips: i LOVE lipgloss, the NYX lip oil is a berry color with a more oily consistency, unlike many glosses just listed as a lip oil. Fenty HEAT gloss in cherry makes your lips look so poppin, and the dior lip oil is honestly really moisturizing. And let me tell you about that AOA $1 skin salve. It comes in many scents and is really moisturizing + put it anywhere. MAC mini lippies too, i got these in a set from TJMAXX
eyes: i usually keep it pretty light with my eyeshadow with pinks, purplish colors, and cool toned or neutral browns. Listed is the Colorpop Rock Candy cool toned palette, the open palette is from hipdot i got it from ipsy, and once again, another $1 AOA product. These little shadow quads are actually decently pigmented, have cute packaging, and so easy to throw in your bag. on a more dramatic day i tend to do my eyeshadow like lana inspired
Tumblr media Tumblr media
eyeliners+brows: i use the NYX jumbo on my inner corner for a brightening effect before i apply highlight there. the creme liner in white and the eyeliner pen are also from color pop. i have one in black but it isn’t listed. i love to use sky high mascara avoiding the bottom lashes for a more natural look. For my brows i tend to go more natural with a colorpop pencil and gel.
runner ups: colorpops BFF mascara in the blue shade, they so many colors but when i want to switch it up i apply it to my bottom lashes. the lancome juicy tubes last so long on your lips because it’s thick yet comfortable. LA colors Glossy Lips gloss + blush up cream blush are sooo nice and you can get them from the dollar store. the AOA $1.88 Super glue holds my lashes so good and it’s cheaper than most glues + better i’ve been swearing by it and the brand for YEARS

So this might be kinda a weird question but I’m in a show and the costumer/makeup person just told us we’re required to wear false eyelashes. I’ve never worn them before and the thought of putting glue on my eyes just really freaks me out so what do I do?
You’ve got a couple options here:
1. Magnetic lashes don’t use glue! These lash strips have magnets on them, and there are two different kinds. One kind has just one strip of lashes and comes with magnetic liquid eyeliner that the magnets will stick to after the eyeliner dries. The other kind of magnetic lashes have two strips of lashes with magnets that stick to each other, and you put one strip on top of your real lashes and the other below, so your lashes are sandwiched between the magnets.
2. Eyeliner/glue hybrids! There are several eyeliners out there that double as lash glues, so you just do your liner as you normally would, place your lashes before the eyeliner dries, and it’ll hold them just like lash glue.
3. Practice with your lash glue! I promise it’s not as scary as it sounds, and I used to hate it too. The easiest way is to apply the glue along the base of the false lash strip, let it sit for a minute or two until it gets tacky, and then place it as close to your natural lash line as you feel comfortable (you can always fill the negative space with eyeliner), holding it in place until it’s dry enough to stick. Some people do have allergies to certain types of lash glue, so I’d recommend doing a bit of research to find the right glue if you have any cosmetic allergies/sensitivities.
4. Tubing mascaras! Many mascaras out there are able to create a visual effect similar to falsies, such as tubing mascaras that essentially coat your lashes in a tube of fibers, making them significantly longer and fuller. Any mascaras that mention tubing, fibers, lash-extension effects, or the like would probably be good options.

tal what's your go to makeup look/every day makeup? beauty
For my current everyday makeup, I prep my skin with a light layer of (the discontinued) becca's shimmering skin perfector liquid highlighter. I curl my lashes, "glue" my eye brows with got2b glued, then conceal my under-eyes and correct any redness with glossier's stretch concealer. Next, I line my lips with revlon's lip liner in sienna, using a drop of vitamin e-oil as a lip oil. I create a tinted blush for my cheeks by mixing rouge or red lipstick with my moisturizer and stipple-brushing it onto my cheeks for a natural flush. I finish the look by powdering my t-zone with maybelline's fit me pressed powder!

i think you said you use falsies before? how do you put them on so well, mine always end up fucked up @ _ @
i do! i struggle with them too bc i have shakey hands, for me if the lash is long i cut it in half and it makes it easier to apply! i apply the glue let it dry for 15 seconds or until it gets tacky and bc of it being cut in half it just stays on with little adjustment, but doing this means ull have to apply two parts to each eye and takes longer e_e so sometimes i just do a thick line of eyeliner on my eyelid and slap the lash on top and u aren’t able to see if it’s too far away from my lash line bc the lash and liner r both black !!

BEAUTY TIPS FOR BRIDES WHO WEAR GLASSES
Tumblr media
Few things are more beautiful than a radiantly happy bride on her wedding day. But, if you wear eyeglasses, you may wonder whether your look will be good enough to get the photographer to snap that perfect shot. It's not uncommon for brides to wear eyeglasses on their wedding day for comfort or fashion reasons. Some even love to wear eyeglasses because they're a part of who they are.
However, there are several potential issues that you need to be aware of if you'll be wearing eyeglasses on your big day. From how you style your hair to how you take care of your makeup, there are many things to consider when planning your wedding day beauty regimen.
This article discusses tips and tricks to help you achieve your dream wedding day look with your glasses on.
Tumblr media
MAKE YOUR GLASSES A FEATURE
Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life, so it's okay to splurge a little on yourself. Weeks or even months before the big day, consider getting a pair of new eyeglasses that will perfectly match your wedding dress. If you'd like to make your glasses a part of your wedding day beauty look, opt for a pair that is simple and classic but sleek and sophisticated. Investing in new eyeglasses is also a great idea because you can use them even after the wedding day is over.
You can also easily make a pair of eyeglasses the focal point of your look. Whether it's through bold colored frames or fun decorative lenses, your glasses can become the "it" accessory on your wedding day. Meanwhile, if you are more of a classic bride, a pair of eyeglasses with a simple design and neutral color can be just as glamorous.
Tumblr media
HAIRSTYLE & ACCESSORIES
Wearing glasses does not mean you can't have gorgeous hair on your wedding day. If you want to find the perfect hair accessories and style that will match your pair of eyeglasses, the best way to do this is to schedule a mock styling session with your wedding hairstylist. This way, you can see the kind of style you want and what will work best with the frame of your specs.
You also need to consider the accessories you'll be wearing on your big day. It may not be a good idea to wear a statement necklace or bold earrings while wearing your glasses. The key to finding the right pieces is considering the frame of your specs. If it's thick, go for a piece that is simple and feminine. If it's thin and sleek, a more ornate accessory can make a great addition to your wedding look.
Tumblr media
LASHES & LINERS
Since the lenses of your eyeglasses will cover your eyes, you need to wear eye makeup that is more defined. It doesn't have to be complicated at all. You only need a few things: mascara that helps your lashes appear thicker and longer, a liner that makes your eyes pop, and an eyeshadow that makes your eyes look bigger.
It's best to avoid fake eyelashes if you are planning on wearing your eyeglasses on your wedding day. If you really want to use them, opt for short faux lashes that won't interfere with your specs' lenses. You should also ask your makeup artist to glue them securely on your eyelids to ensure they don't fall off during the night.
Tumblr media
COLORS THAT COMPLIMENT YOUR GLASSES
If you intend on wearing a white wedding dress on your big day, opt for a neutral-colored frame for your eyeglasses. This way, they won't overpower your white gown and create a contrast that may end up looking awkward. Frames with a brushed metallic finish in gold or silver are also excellent choices because they will add a touch of sophistication and glamor to your wedding outfit.
During the reception, you have the freedom to wear any colored frame that you want. The color you choose doesn't have to match the color of your dress. However, you can try to choose a complementary color that will help blend with the dress.
Tumblr media
CONTOUR & CONCEAL
One of the most often overlooked yet easiest makeup tricks is contouring. Applying concealer and a brightening powder can enhance your features and make them appear more flawless and defined. When it comes to your eyes, you need to use a light-reflecting formulated concealer to offset the shadow cast from your eyeglasses.
Consider using light and neutral shades of concealer under your eyes to compensate for the shadows cast by your glasses. Then, add a translucent powder for the most natural look. You want to keep the appearance of your eye makeup light, so do not overdo it by using a thick formula.
Tumblr media
DON'T FORGET YOUR EYEBROWS
Your eyebrows can give your face its most defining features. Even if you are wearing a pair of eyeglasses on your big day, you should pay close attention to the shape of your eyebrows. Your eyebrows can make or break your look, so be sure to spend some time on them before your wedding.
Months before your big day, you can go for microblading, a semi-permanent treatment that will help add definition to your brows. This safe, non-invasive treatment can give you a thick eyebrow with little to no downtime. Plus, it lasts about six months, so you'll have plenty of time to prepare.
Tumblr media
Your wedding day will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so take the time to really put some effort into making your hair, makeup, dress, and eyeglasses look flawless. Treat your pair of eyeglasses like an accessory that can highlight the best features of your face on your big day, and you'll start to realize how amazing your eyes are with a pair of specs.
Lastly, no matter what type of frame or style you choose, it's crucial that you are confident and comfortable in whatever you decide to wear on your big day. After all, the most important thing to remember is that you should feel beautiful on your wedding day because when you walk down the aisle, you will meet the love of your life.

So uh.... your eye makeup in your sister cosplay is absolute fucking perfection. You should drop a tutorial because when I do black eyeshadow it looks like I smudged dust and coal on my eyes.
Aww thank you! I try lol...
I don't know if I will ever do that but I can take you a cliff notes version
Tumblr media
Instructions below the cut lol
🤍 You'll need:
- 3 eyeshadow shades (black, dark grey, and translucent silver shade)
- Black liner (I prefer to use both pencil to start and then finish it off with liquid but it's up to you)
- Matte black liquid lip (eyesafe)
- Lashes/glue (I use demi wispies)
- Black mascara
- Eyelash curler
- 3 eyeshadow brushes (packing brush and 2 blending brushes)
- Face brush
- Translucent powder
🖤 Steps:
1) Make sure I have my face prepped, so do your normal skin routine and moisturize.
2) Put a generous amount of translucent powder blow each of your eyes where you would want to place the product so on your upper cheekbones. This is to be easy to swipe away any fallout that comes from the eyeshadow.
3) Use the matte black liquid lip on each of the eye lids starting at the lash line and then using your fingertip to blend upward (using less of the product as you go) until you get the shape you want around the eye. Let that dry before the next step once you are satisfied with the shape and blend.
4) Once it's blended where it's darker towards the lash line and fades into the eyes shape you want as it blends out then pack on black eyeshadow with the packing brush on the whole lid and slightly above the crease.
5) Then use the darker grey shade to blend around the edges you created with the liquid lip, using a little amount of product at a time until you are satisfied with the blend. I like blending in circular motions and blotting motions.
6) Use the clean blending brush to put a layer of translucent silver Shadow along just the edge of your shadow line on your lids. This will help give it a shimmer and also buff out the edges so it's not a stark half moon shape on the top of your eye.
7) Use the packing brush from the black to go under your eyes, lining them a bit with the shadow. Then if you want, blend with the brush you used for the grey shadow.
8) Use your face brush to gentle swipe away the translucent powder with any fall out.
9) Tightline your eyes with the eyeliner (only do with pencil do not do this with liquid liner).
9) Take your finger an tap a tiny amount of the sliver shadow in the linter corner of your eye.
10) Prep your lashes (make sure they're trimmed to the right size and that you have lash glue on the rims getting tacky before you try to place them down)
11) Put your lashes on and allow them to dry.
12) Use mascara and the lash curler to blend your natural lashes and the false ones together.
13) Use your eyeliner or liquid eyeliner whichever to finish lining your eyes both on top and bottom.
And you're done!!! Should look like the photo above!!

BABE DETAILS!!!!!! Which specific VS lotion? What makeup? 🥰🥰
why do i love these questions so much bahahaha idk i guess i’ve just been WAITING to talk about my makeup routine bahaha I’ll make the font small bc this is gonna be long
firstly i feel like the laser i get done on my face doubles as like a collagen treatment bc it makes my skin all tight and glowy already. on top of that i use just use normal cerave facewash and three times a week on alternative days, I use this exfoliating thing from Murad which I got from the laser clinic. I feel like my makeup applies best when I exfoliate before
then i don’t use any primer, i just use spf 50 which doubles as moisturiser too (also from the laser clinic) and I kind of… massage it onto my face really well, specially cheekbones m, jawline and neck to kind of shape my face and remove any puffiness? I learnt this from this model Doutzen’s YouTube channel (models are super informative about makeup and beauty, I can tell you more in another post bahaha).
THENNN, i use charlotte tilbury’s flawless filter which is kind of like a filter on your skin with a tint, super lightweight and you can wear it by itself or under foundation to make yourself look all glowy. and honestly this is the product that makes me look all dewy and glowy. then i use an excessive amount of blush (I use glossier shade storm which is like a berry colour) and then I use a random cream concealer which I dab in with my ring finger (another model tip) under my eyes, and I use a darker shade cream concealer to contour lightly (again dabbing in using fingers — brushes and spongers are overrated). i also use charlotte tilbury’s setting spray liberally after every step and set the concealer with powder too..
then i just put on lashes (always use mascara before, and super subtle eyeliner to guide where to glue the lashes). honestly the eyeliner doesn’t even show, it’s just so i can glue my lashes a bit more up on the sides to give a lifted look. tatti lashes worn as a half lash for a casual look and dose of lashes or unicorn lashes for a fuller glam look.. btw all of this looks like a guy’s version of no makeup… like it’s all super light and dewy I promise — I hate heavy makeup on myself (absolutely hate 2016 makeup and always have bahahaha) sometimes I’ll do lipgloss and liner but mostly I don’t… anyways i also fill in my brows but super lightly so it looks natural… they’re already quite full so I get them threaded kinda thing bc I like the thin brows look and I’m brown so they grow back pretty fast anyways..
so yeah!! This was unnecessarily long but I love answering makeup questions! The reason my makeup game has gotten so good recently (If I do say so myself) is bc of this tiktoker called Amelia Olivia!! All her makeup tips and tricks for glowy glass skin are so amazing and have really allowed me to level up!! Also I use the VS lotion that matches with the mists, so pure seduction lotion!!

my eye makeup ୨♡୧

brows:
for brows i use the nyx jumbo eye pencil, brow glue, and candy fluff from the cloud spun palette and nyx single shadow in whipped cream, i apply the eye pencil on my brows then brush thru them with a brow brush after that i draw my tails with the liner and angled brow brush. with a second brow brush i apply candy fluff to my whole brow then i apply whipped cream to the front. after im done with the shadows i brush thru my brows with the brow glue. then clean them up with my lightest shade of concealer.
Tumblr media
eyeshadow:
after setting the concealer on my eyes with powder with the colourpop cloud spun palette i take the shade chicle on my finger and pat it all over my lid blending it in with the blush on my eyes, then i take shade cotton cloud and only apply that in the middle of my lid right above my pupil. taking a small amount of the nyx glitter primer, tap that on the middle of my lid and tap the glitter shadow flossy on top. on my under eye i take turkish delight and apply that to my mid to outer corner. then taking the pink heart highlight i apply that from my inner to middle corner, then the elf glitter shadow in pinky swear, and the fenty wattabrat on top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lashes:
for mascara i use the essence lash princess curl and volume mascara. after i draw my eyeliner and let it dry, then apply kiss lash glue on my eye where i want my lashes to sit and on the eylure lashes lash band. after waiting for the glue to turn blue, i stick them on my eye and squeeze my real and false lashes together.

can i ask how you did the lesbian flag makeup with all the hearts? it's so pretty
You can indeed :p - this is going to be a long answer, I just hope I explain it ok lol
So first of all, I always start with the eyes, I decided what colors I'd use and in what order while looking at the flag, I decided to go with darker pink, dusty pink, white, dusty orange and bright orange. I picked the order just because I liked it like that, you can do the inverse and it'll probably still work.
Now I applied concealer on the lid and my first mistake was applying a white eyeshadow all over the lid, what I'd recommend would be to use a white eyeshadow primer all over the lid, or just apply your shadows on top of the concealer, because that'll help the colors show up better.
Then I started with the dusty orange on the inner corner up to where I wanted the white to be and tried to blend it with the white just before the middle, after that I applied the bright orange just on the inner corner, which I admit I could've done a better job of making it show up but I liked the mix of the dusty and bright orange so I just shrugged it off. Now you have to blend those very carefully, with a clean brush, not to lose the dusty orange into the bright one (like I kinda did lol), to the eye the difference will be subtle once finished, but you still want it there.
Onto the next step: because I wanted a cohesive color palette on my face, I used the dusty pink that I usually use as blush for eyeshadow.
Now on the other side, I did the same with the dusty pink in the opposite direction, for the dark pink I used a red lipstick with a pink undertone, I used an angled brush so I could be more precise with it. Because it was a matte lipstick, which I personally recommend to use as eyeshadow, you kinda have to work quick, so I used the brush to kind of sketch the shape I wanted and then I'd be able to more comfortably blend it in afterwards when the shape I wanted was already in place. Mind you I wanted the outer parts of the pink to be darker to mark the shape, so if you can't blend it all that's exactly what we want.
After I've done that and carefully blended the lighter and darker pink, the lighter and darker orange, I noticed my white eyeshadow wasn't as present as I'd like, so I used a little bit of a silver shimmer to trick the eye into thinking it was white or closer to it than before.
Apply concealer on the under eye area, set it and proceed to do the same just under the lower lashes.
Now I don't use foundation, I don't like it and that's all, but if you do I'm assuming this would be the part in which you do that.
I do my blush with that same dusty pink, where I'd normally place my blush, for the little hearts what I did was do the dark pink ones with the same lipstick I used for eyeshadow and the orange and white ones with concealer - a liner brush will help you do that easily, the hearts don't need to be perfect -, the orange ones I place the heart shape with concealer and then apply eyeshadow right on top of it, then I brush it off, the white hearts it's mostly just concealer but you can apply the silver shimmer on top of it too.
Though if you have liquid eyeliner in those colors, just go for that, it's much easier lol
Then I carefully applied the tiniest bit of highlighter, used a clear mascara on my eyebrows and a lip balm on the lips.
Oh and mascara on the lashes.
Here's a tip, mascara is the glue that pulls the whole makeup together, you're only gonna know how it actually looks after you apply mascara in my personal experience, so... Trust the process.
Done.
