Sometimes I wonder, will redacted ever have an actual end? Like, obviously Erik will stop posting sooner or later, but will we have a finished plot? Is there en end? Can there be one?
That would be hard to do, considering how many characters there are, but it is possible. Just like how ivan's or geordi's playlist ended. Maybe some characters would have a happy ending while others broke up with their listeners. Or maybe some will die....Anything could happen really.
But then again, it could just be a discontinued story, left to our imagination.
Just a thought 🤷‍♀️

Rise Ramblings # 168
So…we know that the boys were mutated “13 years ago.”
Tumblr media
However, we also know that in the show, Raph is 15, Leo and Donnie are 14, and Mikey is 13.
But how is Raphie 15 years old when they were mutated 13 years ago? Logically, that means that Raph was a 2-year-old turtle on Mutation Day. Similarly, Mikey had just recently hatched.
So when Raph says…
Tumblr media
Technically...he's right.

DP x DC ramble: Types of power
Now, in this particular fandom, there’s a tendency to make an OP Danny
That’s a neutral statement, a lot of people just happen to like and post OP Danny
For the most part, not my taste but it can be fun in some contexts, but overpowered Danny isn’t my default
Now, Danny is physically strong. His abilities are combat focused and he can hold his own in a fight. He probably has a little less physical strength than you’d think since he uses gravity nullification to lift heavy things, but it’s impressive regardless. He has a goodly variety of offensive and defensive abilities that make him formidable is a fight
But the strongest characters in DC aren’t necessarily strong in that way
Superman is physically very strong, incredibly powerful, but he’s still nowhere near the level of the actual strongest characters, because their power is a very different type
Like I’m talking reality manipulation, omniscience, abilities that involve power over people’s very souls (and a ghost is a human soul) and where they end up. Psychopomps and some much more. I’m talking about beings that can mold the flesh of humans to remove something like a cancer and repair damage with barely a thought
And they’re mainly held in check by rules, mostly just being polite, sometimes Divine laws
This is a type of power Danny is not equipped to handle
It’s a very different game than Danny is playing. He can physically throw down, he might have an army if it’s Ghost King AU, but this is “can kill you with a literal snap and the snap is just for dramatic effect” territory
Danny is playing high school American football, these characters are playing Professional soccer aka what every other country calls football
It’s a very different game, and if he’s trying to play with them, he’s going to struggle
And that’s fine, he can still be OP and not be playing on the same field as Lucifer, or the Spectre, or various demon lords and so on, because it’s a different kind of power
But just arbitrarily saying he’s more powerful really undersells why they are powerful. Being able to punch good is not the same as a character that can just send him to the afterlife. Someone being able to reshape Danny’s body at their will isn’t going to be concerned about his ecto blasts
A Tuna is a big fish, but the ocean is VAST and DEEP
All this to say you’d have to drastically alter Danny’s actual power set to make him able to compete, otherwise you’re just de-powering the actual strongest characters, which is less impressive since it missed the point of WHY they were strong
Just because you can solve a sheet of math problems doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to ace a three page essay on the poetry of Keats
This has been my thoughts on the matter, be sure to grab a souvenir from the gift shop
Also just going to sneak this in:
Danny should probably be more concerned about magic users
Magic clearly can affect him, just look at the Freak Show incident from season one, that’s not even getting into the reality gauntlet. Now add in the fact that there’s a variety of magic items/artifacts in DC and a slew other of magic uses and occultists that can summon and bind ghosts, spirits, and demons to do their bidding
Danny is firmly in the category of beings that magic specifically deals with, he should probably be a bit more concerned about magic users

not to be controversial on main, but i really do feel like way more people would enjoy maths if someone properly explained it to them & they didn't have a hanging threat of failing an exam above their heads

Something I've noticed is that I self insert everywere. Including redactedverse.
Like every single redacted listener is me, just in a different form. I don't care if their personality is my polar opposite.
Angel? Yep that's me. Honey? I mean in some cases, yeah. Darlin? Pffft of course..Baabe? Absolutely.
Oh yeah, remember when David proposed to Angel? Well yeah, he proposed to me so..
I'm sorry for Erik who took the time to hone in on every listener's attributes......but it's me 🤷‍♀️

Why is a number to the power of 0 1? I accept that it IS but the proof has never made sense to me.
the most rigorous way to think about it is with an abstract/theoretical perspective using the characteristics of what we know to be called operations. in order for an operation to be considered "well-defined" (i.e. a valid operation), it has to fit three criteria: 1. it's closed - if you operate two things together they produce another thing in the same set 2. it has an identity - some number that if you operate it with any other thing, you get that other thing 3. unique inverses - for every thing in the set, you can operate it with another thing such that they result in the identity.
for multiplication in the Real numbers (i.e. what most people think of when they think multiplication), the identity is the number 1. as in, 1 x 2 = 2, and 2 x 1/2 = 1. 2 and 1/2 are multiplicative inverses, so on and so forth. because of that, we can say that any number is functionally equal to 1 times that number, i.e. 2 = 1 x 2. when we get to exponents, we have that any number is itself to the first power - i.e., we multiply it once. what are we multiplying it by? the identity. so if we "raise" something to the 0 power, we're basically saying we multiply the identity by it zero times, which means we're just left with the identity - which is 1.
in a more intuitive sense, multiplication is just repeated addition. so like 2 x 3 = 2 + 2 + 2. if we don't add anything together, we get zero - i.e. 2 x 0 = 0. zero is a number that doesn't add itself to get anything else. in the same way, exponents are repeated multiplication. 2 ^ 3 = 2 x 2 x 2. if we don't multiply anything together, we have to be left with the thing that doesn't multiply itself to get anything else - in this case, the number 1, since you can multiply 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x .... ad nauseam and you will still only ever get 1.

Billy Batson troubles
Y'all ever think of how everyone thinks and believes Captain Marvel to be much older than what he really is, causing the younger heroes to look up to him in respect and ask for advice every now and then when they see him? And Billy is just screaming on the inside because he's just a baby who doesn't know how to handle adult problems, much less teenager problems.
Some teenage hero: Hey, Captain Marvel, can I ask for your help with something?
Captain Marvel (Billy), totally prepared to use his wisdom of Solomon: Haha! Ask away, small one. I know just about everything!
Some teenage hero: Oh great, because I was struggling to answer this physics question for my AP class and was wondering if you might know-hey where are you going???
Captain Marvel (Billy), not even trying to lie and walking away: This is a battle you must face by yourself, I cannot accompany you on your academic journey.

I was thinking about the stakes in tears of the kingdom:
(A small analysis essay)
Tumblr media
(Ill be using words that will hopefully not out any spoilers)
In breath of the wild you had to defeat ganon, the stakes were that if you didn't defeat ganon in time zelda would be too weak to hold him any longer and the kingdom of hyrule will be doomed.
However in totk, there is nothing like that. There is no urgent stakes for defeating ganondorf. Everything is almost at a standstill, everything has been waiting since the begining of this Hyrule and there is no time limit for fighting ganondorf. In fact, ganondorf is kinda just waiting for link at the end.
And then i remembered, this game isn't about saving Hyrule, Hyrule is fine, everyone is actually kind of excited at these turn of events. There is no current evil they should be concerned of other than the gloom which is easily dodged.
This game is about finding and being with Zelda.
It's been that from the very start.
From the moment you wake up on the geat sky island you are given the objective to find zelda
Everyone who is close to you is asking where is zelda, you are told to investigate each region because zelda was spotted there, not because a great evil has arrived and they are in danger (even though that is also the case, zelda is still at the forefront of your concern)
It's only later in the game, once you have almost everything done that the goal becomes defeat ganondorf but even then, it is because you now know what happened wih zelda and need to make sure her efforts were worth it. Once you know that zelda's goals are to defeat ganondorf, that is when you join her in her goals rather than looking for her.
Even until the very last second of the end credits scene it is about getting to zelda, saving zelda, making sure zelda is okay, standing by zelda...
Tumblr media
Breath of the wild was about regaining your memories, doing what you can and gaining forces to aid in defeating ganon because that is what you are told to do by the king at the begining, a role told to someone who has no memories, no way to make a decision of what he wants to do. This is even so in the memories, he is a soldier that must do as he is told, no choices made by himself alone. The game is about rebuilding and defeating an evil before it can stop that healing. He, We are a slate that has no job to do other than save everybody in time.
In tears of the kingdom, we have those memories, we have those experiences, he has the connections and emotions to decide for himself what he wants, not a duty to the kingdom. He got to chose what is important to him and he got to put that front and center in his life, above duty, above a role, above anything else,
And he chose Zelda...

i just willingly did some math
cause rain world
first: iterator height
clouds seem to start at the top of legs.
nimbostratus clouds, which rain, are around about 8 thousand feet up. meaning iterator legs are around 8 thousand feet tall
from eyeballing images, I think the cans themselves are about 1.5 times the height of the legs. so 12 thousand feet
meaning iterators are somewhere around 20 thousand feet tall
20 thousand feet is equivalent to 3.8 miles
the equation for how far you can see based on how high up you are is 1.22459 √ height in feet
1.22459 √ 20000 ft = 173
you can see about 173 miles from 3.8 miles off the ground
area of a semicircle is 1/2(πr2), r = 173
around 47,000 square miles
we can see 13 iterator cans from the top of pebbles' structure + moon and pebbs
divide 47,000 by 14 iterators (moon and pebbles lumped together, share facily ground), each iterator gets around 3,350 square miles of space
assuming that rain world planet is very similar to earth, total landmass of earth is 57 million square miles
divide those numbers and get 17,000(ish)
if we're including the oceans, then earth is 197 million square miles
divide that, get about 58,800
earth could support somewhere between 17,000 to 58,000 iterators in terms of space.
dang.
sources, just in case -- X X X X
