🌼DaisyClan: Moon 24🌼
“Why don’t they just demand that Minkstar backs down?” Minkstar froze as Icyback’s angry hiss cut through the evening’s silence. She caught a glimpse of the she-cat’s lashing white tail around the side of the warrior’s den. Minkstar couldn’t see who she was talking to. Her whiskers twitched indecisively. Minkstar knew she should just keep walking and pretend like she didn’t hear anything. But before she could get her paws moving, Icyback spoke again.
“They were chosen by StarClan, right?” The she-cat said, her voice low but threatening. “Shouldn’t they be allowed to continue their leadership?”
Another voice answered haltingly. Minkstar recognized it as Woodfur’s. “Well . . . technically Daisyst - Daisyrunner - was chosen to lead us to our new home.” Woodfur didn’t seem to know which side he was on. Minkstar had never heard him sound so unsure. “Maybe, since that’s done, they can . . . retire?”
“RETIRE?!” Icyback spat, making Minkstar’s fur bristle. Since when had the former loner been so passionate about Clan politics? The she-cat was always proud, but until now, she’d mostly kept to herself. “DaisySTAR is still so young - half Minkstar’s age, at least!” Minkstar was surprised by how much Icyback’s comment stung her. Yes, she was older than Daisyrunner, but she wasn’t any less competent. Does Icyback think I should retire? Minkstar wondered. Of course, I’ve thought about it, but I still feel like I have a lot more to offer my Clan. I can’t go to the elder’s den yet!
“Keep your voice down!” Woodfur was scolding Icyback. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just mean that maybe, Daisyrunner’s time as leader is over.” Minkstar heard the white she-cat prepare to snap back, but Woodfur went on. “But we won’t know for sure until StarClan tells us.”
But . . . will StarClan tell us? The unwelcome thought squeezed its way into Minkstar’s head. What would they do if StarClan didn’t give them a definite answer about DaisyClan’s leadership? They’d given Minkstar her nine lives, yes, but they’d also tried to tell the cats that Daisyrunner wasn’t gone for good. Gone . . . but not lost. The visions of the shadowy creature stealing a daisy seemed to have a clear meaning now. StarClan seemed to favour both Minkstar and Daisyrunner. But if they didn’t choose, the Clan would.
Minkstar stayed crouched in the shadow of the warrior’s den as Icyback and Woodfur went their separate ways. Her gaze swept across the camp, watching from afar as her Clanmates prepared for their night’s rest. Who would they each choose? Minkstar couldn’t help but wonder. But it seemed, in this instance, there was no clear choice.

Notable Events
Rabbitpaw is now a warrior, called Rabbitspot.
Although they still haven’t received a sign from StarClan, cats are starting to take sides about who should be leader. Icyback has taken Daisyrunner’s side, complaining about Minkstar behind her back.
And that marks the end of Year Two in DaisyClan! But the drama is far from over . . .

MountainClan's leader, Minkstar, turns her gaze away from the starry sky and towards her Clan's communal den, where her dear former apprentice, Larchfur, rests with his two young kittens, Pebblekit and Pigeonkit.
This is a WIP animation for @forgotten-elegy ’s first MAP, and a Secret Swap gift for @tumbling-kit !! I had a ton of fun working on this- can’t wait to finish it up!!

This week’s character spotlight is Myrtlestar!
After the death of the previous deputy, Deadeye, Myrtlesplash was chosen by Minkstar to serve as Meadowclan’s second in command. She hadn’t been deputy for that long when Minkstar decided to step down which meant she was very quickly ushered into her role as leader.
Whilst it came as quite a shock, she’s determined to be the leader that Meadowclan needs in their time of crisis.
The featured art was drawn by hayzel!

Wouldn’t post him until I finished his lore
Blizzardsleek
His father was ThunderClan and named Rabbitspring, he was a blue-gray tabby tom. Unfortunately he fell in love with a loner she-cat, and left his Clan to be with her. Her name was Storm, after a year or so, they had two kits, Smoke and Blizzard. But in a devastating fire the barn burned down and killed both Smoke and Storm. Weakened and starving, Rabbitspring took his only surviving kit and begged for help from the nearest Clan, which was RiverClan. Surprisingly, since they were low on warriors, RiverClan accepted Rabbitspring as a warrior and renamed him Silverclaw. Blizzardkit grew up being scorned and sometimes attacked by the other cats in RiverClan, and apprentice once dragged him out of camp and gave him the scar he has on his cheek. Blizzardpaw, unlike most RiverClan cats, had sleek fur, and that did not let him float very well in the water. Instead of it being a weakness, Blizzardpaw worked hard and became the best diver in the Clan. In fact, Blizzardpaw preferred being underwater than above water, it was so dark and silent, comforting. The RiverClan leader, Minkstar, disliked Blizzardpaw a lot, and named him Blizzardsleek, to point out that his fur was flat and that he would never be truly RiverClan. But then Blizzardsleek met Tangledear of ThunderClan, who I will talk more about once I draw him, and leave you with the suspense.

🌸 Redpath or ☘️ Spice
🌸 - Favorite Relationship Dynamics
Oooooo this is a cool question to get for Redpath in particular— she’s got so many interesting relationships, it’s hard to pick!!! The first one that comes to mind, for me, is Redpath and Minkstar; they’re a bit of an unconventional leader & deputy pair by MountainClan standards, given that Redpath isn’t StarClan Chosen, but gosh, it’s really so fun to see how they are with each other!! I love reading about the ways they perceive each other, Minkstar looking at Redpath as one of her most deeply trusted warriors— maybe one of the closest things she has to a friend— while Redpath just sort of… carefully, tiredly works with Minkstar. Redpath doesn’t actually like her leader as a person nearly as much as the leader appreciates the deputy, and while it’s definitely deserved, seeing as Minkstar is. Minkstar. It still makes me sad for Mink 💔 It’s such an intriguing relationship for the Clan’s leaders to have, and I can’t wait to see more of these two together in the future!!!
Some others that I really love:
- Redpath & Venuscomb (only 90’s kids remember RedVenus)
- Redpath & Grizzlystream (super sweet couple <3)
- Redpath & Foxpaw (she’s SUCH a great mentor to her it’s so CUTE)
- Redpath & Inkpool (I’m totally not biased—)
- Redpath & Columbine (maybe grandma deserves to go a little feral. Maybe she deserves a revenge arc. I’m so curious to see what’ll happen next time they run into each other)
- Redpath & her grandkits (I’m crying)

oneshot ft. a couple of historical characters from caveclan lore because i was in the mood for angst
Sometimes Emberstar missed it.
Sometimes she missed the days when it was just her and Minkstar, when they were just Embershine and Minksong. When they were running on the same timer as those they cared about, when their hearts could be trusted to stay silent were they to stop.
When they were apprentices and warriors and deputies, when they joked about being leaders together but never really meant it. When they made promises they thought they wouldn't have time to break, when they fell in love and were sure it would outlive them.
Emberstar recalled getting annoyed with how distant Sunstar had been when she acted as his deputy.
She understood now, of course. Eternity was a very long time.
She found herself hoping that each death would be her last, despite knowing that she would know when the end came near.
She found herself drifting away from her Clanmates, barely remembering their names but noticing all too sharply the features shared with their long-gone ancestors.
This was SnowClan and the cats under Minkstar were CliffClan. Emberstar knew this. And yet the Clan she had grown up with was SnowClan, too, and this wasn't that.
Wasn't it funny, she mused, how words and especially names could change their meaning until you became utterly disconnected from what they stood for?
Tensions were getting higher every day. Emberstar was tempted to start a war just to feel something, to fight in a battle alongside cats she knew as allies. To do something so pointlessly terrible that the stars would finally have to claim her.
Of course, it was Minkstar who attacked first, in the end. Emberstar was all too eager to fight back.
The war was long and violent and awful, but Emberstar enjoyed it perhaps a little too much. These were the highest stakes she'd seen in a while, and she wasn't about to give that up just yet.
The war had lasted five years.
Emberstar and Minkstar met in the aftermath of a particularly bloody battle. They had each died at least once in the past two days alone--their deaths had become as routine as hunger.
They'd killed each other before. It was nothing new.
By all means, this battle would end the same as all the others.
And yet--
And yet, looking in each other's eyes, both of them knew, deep down, that this would be different.
This death would be their last, and they knew it.
So they fought, and fought, and fought until they physically couldn't anymore. Neither had sustained injuries that would grant them a particularly quick death, but nonetheless they were too badly injured to speed up the process.
As they lay next to each other, dying and bloodstained with fur between their claws and corpses scattered around them, Minkstar spoke.
It was obviously difficult for her to get the words out, with her injuries, but she managed.
"Do you remember?"
Emberstar turned her head as much as she could. "What?"
"When we were warriors." Minkstar continued. "We... we promised."
And Emberstar, of course, remembered. "We'd die together and enter the stars side by side. We'd... we'd never be apart."
Minkstar nodded, laughing weakly. "I guess that worked out, one way or another."
"I guess it did." Emberstar met Minkstar's eyes. "I'll see you in StarClan, then."
"Deal." And Minkstar was silent, and so was Emberstar, and finally, finally the war was over.

🌼DaisyClan: Moon 22🌼
Fawnfire couldn’t believe his eyes. Was this some vivid dream? No, it couldn’t be: he could feel the packed dirt beneath his paws, the ache of his back, the pounding of his heart as he stared at the newcomer standing beneath the Leader’s Ledge. Daisystar was . . . back.
It had been nearly seven moons since DaisyClan’s prophesied leader had disappeared, and by this point, everyone was certain they were never coming back. Fawnfire, as grim as the thought was, had assumed they had died. But how could a cat survive for so long on their own? But, looking at Daisystar, Fawnfire could see they looked as healthy as the day they left. Healthier, even, for their pelt was thick and shiny and their eyes were bright. Where had Daisystar been all this time? Fawnfire was eager to learn of his old friend’s journey. But Daisystar hadn’t spoken a word since entering camp. They just waited, calm and quiet, while Echofall went to fetch Minkstar.
Other cats were starting to gather now, intrigued by the new scent in their camp. Woodfur and Fawnscar emerged from the warriors’ den, eyes wide at the sight of their former leader. The apprentices, Bubblingpaw, Hoppaw and Brushpaw, padded over to peer at Daisystar in wonder. Woodpelt watched from where she was sorting herbs. Her expression was unreadable, but Fawnfire could see the fur along her spine prickling. It was no secret that Woodpelt had never liked Daisystar. But Fawnfire, for one, was glad to see them return. He trotted toward the Leader’s Ledge and settled himself nearby. Daisystar glanced over at the sound of his approach, and gave him a friendly blink. Fawnfire nodded back, his whiskers quivering. He still couldn’t believe what was happening.
At last, Echofall emerged from the leader’s den, followed closely by Minkstar. Spotting Daisystar, she bounded over, touching noses with the younger cat. “We’d all thought you were gone for good!” Minkstar purred, “It’s so good to see you, my friend.”
“Same to you, Minkstalk,” Daisystar purred back. “Or should I say Minkstar? Either that, or you have been keeping my nest warm for me.” There was no hostility in their tone, but Fawnfire felt the prickle of unease that passed through the gathered clan.
“No, it’s Minkstar now,” the leader mewed, a little sheepishly. “I wasn’t keen on succeeding you, when we weren’t sure when - or if - you were coming back, but Woodpelt convinced me it was for the good of the Clan.”
Daisystar glanced over at Woodpelt. Was that a flash of suspicion in their eyes? But before Fawnfire could even identify it, the look had vanished, and Daisystar turned back to Minkstar. “Honestly, I wasn’t even sure if I’d find my way back.” They admitted, “I was captured by twolegs, and sent to live in one of their nests.”
There were gasps from the circle of cats around them. “That must’ve been awful!” Woodfur commented.
“Not as awful as I thought it would be - the twolegs I ended up with were kinder than most.” Daisystar said. “But living in their nest was nothing compared to living in this clan. The freedom the forest offers, the responsibility of caring for your clanmates, the kinships you can form . . . well, I missed it here, and I knew I couldn’t stay. I managed to escape, but the hard part was finding my way back. The twolegs had brought me far from the forest. Thankfully, StarClan guided my paws.” Daisystar gazed around at their clanmates, their eyes full of love. “I’m so happy to be back!”
Daisystar’s words were met with yowls of joy as DaisyClan welcomed their former leader home. Fawnfire joined in, but he couldn’t help the worry that gripped his belly. Daisystar was back, but Minkstar was in charge now. Surely StarClan wouldn’t have given her nine lives if they wanted Daisystar to be leader again? But perhaps, they too hadn’t counted on them coming back. So who did StarClan want to lead them? Who did the Clan want?
>>>
Notable Events
Daisystar has returned to the Clan, having escaped their twoleg prison. But now the Clans must decide if Minkstar will continue being leader, or if Daisystar will take her place. Both cats respect each other, and want to do what’s best for the clan. They decide to wait for a sign from StarClan.
Daisystar returns! But who will lead the clan now?
