One of the fics I’ve been consistently reading with every new chapter is My Favourite Henderson by @luvfae it calms my soul and makes me feral at the same time. Highly recommend for a good time.

by the end of heartstopper season 2, isaac picked up the ACE book from his library and openly read it and held it around his friends - as a representation of coming to terms with being aroace and even being/ready to be open about being so.

so if this is the case, the books that isaac reads in this season seem to represent the current state that his self-discovery journey is in.

for example, isaac is seen reading ‘boy erased’ briefly in one scene - a book about conversion therapy. suggesting that isaac is rejecting the idea of being aroace at this point in time.

as he gets closer to understanding his identity, he reads ‘summer bird blue’, which has an aroace mc but isn’t the entire focus of the book. this suggests he’s much more open to the idea of aroace and is looking into it, but discreetly.

and then, of course, he picks up the ACE book from the library.

but if this is the case, back in episode 3 when james and isaac were setting up the display, james says this:

as he picks up the book with ‘bi’ written in front. and isaac responds:

if the books he has read in this season represent his labels and self-discovery journey, the suggestion that he has read a book about bisexuality but disliked it, suggests that he has, in fact:

experienced the bisexual to aroace pipeline.

Eddie Munson would be an avid ninja turtles fan, i know it because he told me. He read all the comics (as many as he could anyways, considering the first one came out in 1984) and he probably went as either Donatello or Michaelangelo one Halloween as a joke... but it wasn't really a joke. He sprained his ankle that same year trying to do a very drunken backflip off someone's front porch after claiming he knows karate. (He loses his mind when he sees little Mike, Dustin, Will and Lucas dressed up as all four turtles one year.) But he never gets to see the cartoon which first airs in 1987, so Dustin watches every episode as a way to feel close to Eddie. He takes notes and badly draws his favourite scenes so that when he goes up to Eddie's grave at the end of each week, he can show him in detail everything that happened, everything that he missed.

You were leaning against the kitchen bench, a magazine before you, slowly flipping through the pages. Eddie watched you from Dustin’s bedroom, hands crossed over his chest, his eyes dragging down your body.

Your cheerleader uniform hugging you in all the right places, giving him a clear view of your long bare legs, if you bent over any further he’d get full view of your ass. You glanced over at him, feeling eyes on you. His eyes didn’t leave you, he didn’t care that he had been caught.

You shifted on your feet, looking back down at your magazine, trying to hide the fact that you were fidgeting under his gaze. Eddie smirked at you, leaving Dustin’s room and making his way towards you.

“What’re you reading?” Eddie asked, standing behind you. You pursed your lips, refusing to look at him.

“Shouldn’t you be annoying my brother?” You asked, flipping the page rather aggressively.

“He fell asleep half an hour ago,” Eddie replied, resting his head on your shoulder. “I’m bored and i’d much rather hang out with a pretty girl than a sleeping child,” Eddie shrugged, his hands wrapping around your torso.

Your heart pounded fast in your chest and you wondered how he was always so calm with you, how he touched you as if it didn’t even matter. As if you weren’t way out of his league. And you hated yourself for always getting so worked up and flustered over him, if your friends could see you right now they’d be making fun of you.

“That’s a pretty dress,” Eddie said. You looked down at the page of your magazine, a picture of a celebrity couple on their wedding day. “I could see you in something like that,” Eddie whispered into your ear, making you shiver.

“I’d prefer something a little tighter fitting,” you replied, pretending that he wasn’t affecting you so deeply right now.

Eddie hummed. “With a body like yours so would I,” he replied. You pursed your lips, closing your eyes, you were so thankful that he couldn’t see your face right now.

“Eddie…” You muttered. “Don’t talk to me like that when my brother, your friend, is in the next room,” you said.

“He’s fast asleep, Y/N, off with the fairies,” Eddie said, spinning you around in his arms, your back pushing into the counter. Eddie pushed a few strands of hair behind your ear. “Besides, we’re only talking about wedding dresses, planning for the inevitable,” Eddie smirked.

You scoffed. “God, you’re insufferable, Munson,” you said, your hand running up his arms and resting on his biceps.

Eddie laughed. “You don’t mean that,” he said. You smiled, cheeks heating up. He smiled in return, his face coming closer to yours. You felt his breath fan across your cheeks. “I’ll marry you one day, that’s a promise,” he whispered, eyes closing as his lips made their way closer to yours.

“What the hell is going on?!” Dustin yelled.

You gasped, pushing Eddie off of you. He stumbled back, looking over at Dustin, cursing him for ruining yet another moment between you and him.

“Nothing,” you said, grabbing your magazine. “Nothing at all,” you repeated, walking past the two boys and disappearing into your room.

“Jesus Christ dude, I fall asleep for an hour and you try to make a move on my sister again?!” Dustin exclaimed.

Eddie rolled his eyes. “You know, Henderson, you’re extremely good at killing the mood,” Eddie said. Dustin stared at him in disbelief. “Don’t give me that look, your sisters hot, I can’t help myself.”

“God, why do I keep inviting you here?” Dustin asked, shaking his head.

Issac in Heartstopper Season 2

In heartstopper season 2, Issac's storyline is my favorite. Apart from the commendable, well done aroace theme around him, generally speaking, I wouldn't like if all my friends ever talk about is romance and partners and sexual intimacy. Like yo! Here is a dude who is reading so many books, how come nobody ever has any discussions with him? He'd be sooo interesting to talk to, yet he has no dialogue with the characters on the show or meta wise he has no dialogues, even though he has a constant screen presence. Maybe that makes his appearance more powerful. Like you know he is there all the time, yet he doesn't need to say things to feel his presence.
