In case anyone was wondering, why my nickname is Fareeha AND some Spaniards, answer is right under the cut! (Since Tumblr is basically a diary, and I REALLY want to describe, tell, write down, draw and even put it in my blog) Long post ahead! Many screenshots, personal stuff, memes etc.

So you decided to read... Good :'D

It started with Dark Souls 3. The first game experience was very exciting. I spent for about 3 hours creating a character, dealing with a disgustingly made character editor, and they came out.... Simply terrible. Some chubby-cheeked femboy (I have nothing against it, even like it sometimes, but he looked really terrible) with a face like he wants to betray you right now, taking away your family castle and all your feudal possessions. What a waste of time… Also it was sad that I spent 3 hours in the game without starting it. Therefore, I deleted this character and hastily, literally in 5 minutes, created new one - I barely changed one of the in-game templates - slightly lengthened the nose (because big noses are an art); decided to take a hairstyle that would be a little feminine, but at the same time more or less practical - a bun :’D ; made a slightly more stern appearance and it turned out that he was very attractive! There was a problem with the name, but then I also took the first one that came to mind - Esteban. I took the Deprived class because I couldn’t decide who I want him to be and I also wanted to try the so-called “most difficult class,” which turned out to be the most comfortable.

During the game I fell in love with him so much exactly the way he was - and he turned out to be a little frivolous, jester, Casanova, just a handsome guy in my favorite armor of the Black Knights (those devils look INCREDIBLE and make me squeal) and funny older brother of my husband's character.

Tbh now I see that I am making a kind of a doll game out of Fromsoftware games, as it was in childhood - all my characters have their own story, relationships, preferences and strong family bonds lmaooo Why not (I won’t stop)

Esteban was the first "Spaniard". Playing with him as my avatar was incredibly fun - numerous deaths were not perceived so hard, there were LOTS of funny moments, I was scolding Esteban, amusing my husband… In general - we became close, and for a long time finishing the game I could not calm down and was talking about him too much (I genuinely don’t know how my hubbo puts up with me). I was drawing, even wrote a fanfic. And since I LITERALLY CAN’T live without a romantic story, Esteban was the first simp of Prince Lothric and a little bit of Orbeck and Fire Keeper xdd

After DS3, we started Elden Ring. There I created Miguel - also a spaniard, Wretch, cheerful, but more mischievous and feminine than Esteban. I couldn't stop changing his appearance for a very long time until I found something that suits Miguel and fully reflects his character. I really liked Gideon Ofnir, well, really, really liked, but Miguel didn’t share my interest, and I couldn’t really ship them (except for a few explicit drawings :’D). Miguel stayed with Ranni, whom I love dearly, and I started the game again, with a new character. I created a girl. She turned out to be french and received the name Fiquet, and she not only gave me inspiration to finally write a fanfic about her and Gideon, but also brought me mental satisfaction because I finally took the Sorcerer class and spent the entire game killing enemies so easily (except for Mogh and Malenia) with a few hits, without tactics, thinking or other crap. Fiquet, my girl Q_Q

After Elden Ring we started DS1, where Ramon was created in the same way, and also Jose in DS2 (I didn’t go further than Majula, I can’t help it - I don’t like this game. The desire to continue appears only because of Jose, who is my funniest character I think)

Ramon as his is. No screenshots of Jose, he jumped of a cliff and now looks kinda bad lol...

So it became a tradition to start the game with pathetic (I mean his class xd) spaniard and continue with girl (although I have only Fiquet for now. Others are not much remarkable). That’s how Guillermo was created for playing Bloodborne! I already did absolutely everything I could in BB (I even created a female character to come to Edgar so choir boy won’t be so sad :'D), but Guillermo remains with me - kind, sweet, a little nervous, like an angel from vintage postcards (I see him that way xD), caring, kind of mother figure, confident in his rightness, responsive and sensitive, but at the same time with an impenetrable moral shield (I mean, it’s impossible in any way hurt his feelings). I brought him together with Micolash (not surprising, I guess), came up with a tragic and romantic story for them and an AU with a continuation of the plot after the squid hunter ending for a happy end, endowed him with the blessing of Kos and gave him a backstory. There is something attractive about it when a man receives the blessing of a female deity who protects women - it says a lot about him as a more feminine person on the inside than he appears on the outside.

With all this I want to say that my spaniards and Fiquet have probably become like children to me... I love them, I continue to write about them, they are an integral part of my perception of games, and yes, this is probably really a peculiar need to play with dolls at my age xd Maybe that's why Guillermo wears Doll's gloves, Esteban enjoyed wearing Zullie the Witch's dress and gloves (with ADORABLE manicure yknow!!!) and etc lol...

Revolution Theme, Part 5: The Civil War + ABCD Theory

So, in yesterday’s post about the Governor’s S4 episodes, I talked about how there is an Abraham Lincoln portrait inside the cabin he stays in, right?

While doing the rewatch of 4x06-07, I also rewatched the beginning of 9x01 because I wanted to look for clues in the museum.

There are definitely a lot. We see lots of flags and things that could be revolutionary war clues. But the big one I noticed is that when Michonne looks up at the poster on the wall (she’s getting the idea to do the charter) it’s about the Civil War and shows Ulysses S. Grant on it.

So, between the Lincoln pic and this Civil War poster, should we be considering the Civil War as a template as well?

I did notice a street sign on their way to the museum that reads: WASHINGTON.

The biggest thing that struck me about this part is that it’s a template for all of what happens in S9. While it’s Ezekiel that falls through the floor and gets the death fakeout (and I still think he’ll get one in the show) it’s also a foreshadow of Rick.

The group is all together, specifically working together (think the bridge) and then Rick falls off the bridge (Zeke through the floor) and everything pretty much goes to hell.

After that, on the way back, they find that the actual bridge is out, and they all have to take different routes to get home (which symbolizes the camaraderie of the communities falling apart after Rick “dies.”)

We also saw Jadis leading them to some heirloom seeds that were in the museum. A few ways we could interpret that. Again, the seeds represent things going well between the communities. New life, growing things, thriving. And that was true at the beginning of S9. But again, it didn’t last long.

The other thing is that Jadis might = life because she saves Rick and that will eventually lead to Beth as well.

ABCD Theme:

I also had some thoughts about the A, B, C, D theme. They’re on route B, but the bridge is out, and they can’t continue on that route. (Clearly could be a Beth symbol.) The problem is, there’s a herd nearby and they have to be careful. They suggest route A, but that’s too close to the herd. A = walkers = death row = death. Michonne then suggests Maggie just say at Alexandria until the herd passes, but Maggie doesn’t want to. She wants to get back to Hershel. Carol says she could use route D. It’s early enough in the day.

I’m not sure what that means. That it wouldn’t be safe to take route D at night? If so, why? They don’t tell us. So, I’m assuming, though they don’t overtly say it, that they took route C. Because they DID say no to each of the other three. Cell block C is where they all stayed in the prison. So, I think it just represents TF and them living together. Not a bad thing.

I still think route B = greeneroute. Because the bridge is literally on route B, and it going out, trying to rebuild it, and losing Rick over it is literally how they’ll get to Beth. Just saying.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this exploration of the Revolution theme. I’m sure there will be more to come as we move into S11. Who’s excited?

Onmyoji Spreadsheet

hihi so i just spent. multiple hours redoing my old spreadsheet to make it more Eyeball FriendlyTM + include more content, and with explanations on how to use it.

The purpose of this spreadsheet is to, mainly, keep track of what your shikigami needs, like souls, upgrading, skill leveling, etc. Along with that you can track how many shards you have and who you’re trading them with, wishlist shikigami, teams, and several more things. Under the cut I’ll explain it a tad bit more thoroughly with a few pics of what it looks like!

And, on the second template, a Relationships Page if you’re into that

The Key page is meant to be something you completely customize yourself. Not everyone uses the same color palettes, word shortcuts, or. anything at all! The Key page can be something to keep track of the above, or somewhere to have misc notes that don’t fit the other pages. So, compared to the rest of the pages, this one will be a little blank.

The Profiles look a bit like these, but vary depending on the rarity or type of character.

The notes on all of the pages will have some short explanations for how some columns CAN be used. You don’t have to use them like I suggest, it’s just how I do it. These “profiles” are used for the Onmyoji page, and for SP-M Pages

The Teams page is pretty simple. You put in what you use the team for, the shikis used, and the onmyoji who heads the team, along with any extra comments you may have about the specific team.

The Wishlist page is ALSO simple. You put in the name, desired soul set (if you want), rarity, & skin you may want or have for the shiki.

The Shard page is to keep track of trading shards. There’s a table for shards you’re currently heading after, and shards you’re willing to trade! + Notes if you need to add anything

The Goals page is pretty self-explanatory. You can detail your Main and Minor goals in the tables set up and add any notes you need.

The Progress page is to keep track of how you’re doing in game! like the amount of shiki you have g6′d, Secret zones you’ve completed, shiki you’ve collected, etc. etc. This page may be unnecessary to some since you can find these things in game, but it makes it easier to access if you’re willing to fill it out

Then, the “Bonus” Relationships page! If you’re someone who likes to think about how your shikigami would interact with each other or whatever, this extra page can help you keep track of it. 

imo it’s still a bit clunky, since I’m not exactly sure what more could be put, or how to make spacing a bit easier on the eyes. Boxes are a bit bigger than normal for people who keep more shiki, so in turn some shiki may have more friends and the like. It may also be a bit of a hassle to add in new shikigami you get, since you have to copy everything, clear, then paste down however many rows you need before adding more boxes SOBS.

I’m still thinking of how to make it neater so if I make a new one, I’ll definitely post about it, but for now this is the version available on the Second Template!

Anyways feel free to do absolutely whatever w the template, it’s yours to mess around with!! No credit is needed if someone is to for some reason ask about it, but it is appreciated.

Agree so much with your post about the teams and fan engagement ! And love the way you articulated all of that. Although now I definitely am interested in knowing what your notes about the specificity of each team/artist cause I feel like they'd be fascinating to read. Awwww, that’s very kind! It’s definitely head canon city, I litcherally have ZERO clue what goes on behind the scenes (and I can’t stress this enough, none of us do), so this’ll look hilariously dated when we find out that blah woof was true all along, lmao (me @ myself, thinking of some random Grimshaw interviews from last fall, oh, bless). Let’s dig in!!

For those of you who just stumbled upon this post, it’s related to the one I made last night about how I think the management teams of all these men (mid-20s means = you’re a man, not a boy) are not, in fact, sabotaging them. They negotiate a lot of tricky interconnected arrangements that none of us are privy, to, plus they’re at least trying to achieve the goals their clients are going for. And they’re doing it—the trick is these goals are highly individual and not 100% sensical (at least given our own view from the afternoon, Arctic Monkeys ref, holllllllah!!!).

In addition, these goals constantly shift, as does the music industry itself—I drive my own self loony when I lurk on blogs that are seemingly broadcasting from 2012, confused by why xx’s team is so “terrible” because they aren’t throwing good money after bad to get on a radio playlist, or why they haven’t announced yy “properly,” as if they’re being paid to worry about this level of shit (which fires me up on about five levels, deep breaths in, deep breaths out). I’m much nosier about the signals we’re getting when we hear them talk in their beautifully media-trained way about their musical interests, when we get some of that sweet, sweet fan service with a Gallagher or a Capaldi, when we get that heads up about who’s attending what concert, stuff like that. These signals don’t necessarily indicate future collaborations, but they DO indicate what kind of image these guys want to have, the kind of music they want the public to associate them with.

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself…their personalities and goals at the moment are all so vastly different, and I truly do love seeing how their teams are workin’ it accordingly. Again, please @ god, don’t @ me…opinions, massively unpopular opinions, dead ahead!

* Zayn. My read on Zayn is that he enjoys the creative process, loves writing and singing, digs collabing with people, but he doesn’t seem to give two shits about the biz side (and why should he? that’s called living the dream at this particular point in his career). His website recently added “tour,” which EYEBALL EYEBALL, but he doesn’t seem to be all that interested in putting himself back out on stage or into radio/print/etc. anytime soon, and again, why should he? His numbers are HUGE without pushing himself through the anxiety-provoking churn he endured for four years, so there’s no real drive for him to do any promo if he doesn’t want to (see: the netflix-like binge dump of Icarus Falls, which could be “sabotage,” or it could just be, “fineeeeeeee, here’s some stuff for you, enjoy”). What other artist gifts his fans with gorgeous covers of such a wide variety of songs that indicate he’s more interested in sharing them than selling them. Accordingly, his fan interactions seem fairly pure and not all that promo-y: he has a keen interest in fanart, he’s done some fan pop-ups/listening parties that are pretty low-key and *seemingly* fan-focused, and recently (with zero anything to really promote), he’s been posing for cute pics and chatting with randos on the streets of NYC. I recently read that his mgmt team is no longer with him, but that sort of folds into my feeling that he’s not pursuing anything biz-wise, hence no need to jump through those particular hoops (I think he’s also struggled with a lot of demons, so yeah, why add one more). Could he be adrift? Maybe, but the next guy is the posterman for lack of focus….

* Liam. Honestly, I worry about Liam most of all. His post-1D career seems very much adrift, and I like to joke that he’s giving me that tell-all about the D one sentence at a time, but goddamn, are people listening? The struggles with alcohol, the lack of focus on every level, the reliance on his dad’s career advice (which more clearly reflects his dad’s financial class, background, and history than it does Liam’s), and the overall confusion about look, sound, and direction also flow back directly into his team. I get the feeling that they aren’t sure what to do because LIAM isn’t sure what to do or what he wants, so they follow in his wake. He’s agreeable to a fault, so seeing him at a meet-and-greet at an HMV in Birmingham last week felt like a step back into 2010 for no real reason, just like hearing that he was more or less coerced into full nude photoshoots for an underwear ad (the decisions to say yes to both of those—who’s steering this ship? If it’s Liam, he needs to tell the team his overall goal, so they can plot a course he and his fans can follow; if it’s the team, ditto). Like Niall, Liam’s actually pretty good at the SM game: lots of selfies, snapchat filters, outfits, gym service, twitter interactions. But generally speaking, his promo is confusing, and that’s probably because there isn’t much *to* promote at this point, other than a mix of collabs, clothing endorsements, spon con, horse farms, and an album that’s always on the horizon. This might be tied to the general post-1D jolt they all went through, like a plane coming off autopilot and into the hands of someone who’s just learning how to fly it. Zayn debuted at number one, so his bump wasn’t as harsh, but the others are slowly, steadily finding their footing after taking some time to find themselves and their sound, releasing songs/albums, performing (or in Louis’s case, going through unspeakable tragedy). Liam’s still adrift…and somewhat admittedly, which is kind of telling in its own way. Just know that my nervousness on his behalf ratchets up every time he feels the urge to assure us all that he’s happy.

* Niall. Truly the one following the original 1D template, right down to working with most of the same people but with more of the overall control in his hands instead of a faceless management squad. Of any of them, he seems the most ambitious, the most scientific about the sound he’s after and how he’s gonna get there. His promo is a mix of new and traditional—radio shows, talk shows, podcasts, special events, twitter interactions with fans, twitter interactions with entertaining celebrities—and it’s all hustle hustle hustle, build build build, as if he were a new ingenue instead of coming up hard on solo album number two. He’s explicit in his goals, which is refreshing, but it means he walks a weird line with fans: on one hand, he’s done with their bullshit, get ready to get rekt if you start commenting on his boring food seasoning or home décor. But on the other hand, he fully recognizes how much he needs them, which is why we get so many peeks into his “normal” life (yet zero percent of his actual personal life). It’s also probably why the blatant tweets of the last two days seem so jarring to me (I might be alone on this one, but I’m not a fan of directives in general, and asking me to call radio stations on behalf of a rich white man to become even richer just rubs me the wrong way, same with asking me to stream stuff to get you to number one…you’ve been there, buddy, how about you calm down and build some character at number 51). And speaking of calming down, it does fascinate me that both Niall and Louis namecheck Taylor Swift as someone who gets the whole fandom push/pull thing right, so watching them try to reverse-engineer her secrets is fun. Louis nails it (that hotspot treasure hunt: chef’s kiss), but Niall’s heavy-handed easter egg dump in NTMY, she would never!! I think Niall’s team needs to watch “Calm Down” about five more times before they try that again.

* Louis. I think Louis honestly has an AMAZING team in place, and they’re all clearly on his side, which makes for a refreshing change. Like Niall, he has publicly praised Taylor Swift for how she engages with her fans, but I think he’s missing a key point: she doesn’t let her fans dictate strategy, and I HOPE that’s the case for Louis, too. His old team *was* shit, so yeah, encouraging people to do fan projects to get the word out was a good idea, but turning that spigot off to let a good (paid) team step in and take over has been, uh, challenging. He’s dealt with more than his fair share of personal tragedy, but every time he gets some momentum going, it feels like something bts pushes him back off track, and he tends to keep it private, which only makes his hardest-core fans scream “sabotage.” Rightly so, he’s focusing on his personal life, and rightly so, his team is giving him the space to do that, even when it costs cash money and throws a lot of shit seriously for a loop. It makes my heart soar to see the potential of what his team can do/is doing, how much space he’s being allowed to process what he needs to process. Weirdly, that’s an unpopular opinion, and a lot of people want to indulge in an angst wank fest where Louis’s the victim of a terrible team that won’t DO anything (nevermind the fact that he’s probably ASKED them not to do anything), so they undertake a tremendous amount of performative unpaid labor that ends up being counterproductive on just about every front. Even worse, most of them can’t seem to process the fact that losing your mum is a blow, losing your SISTER is a blow, juggling other siblings or close friends handling some serious demons of their own in the aftermath of all of *that* is a blow, let alone handling your own personal coping mechanisms, nope, they want Louis to release release release, perform perform perform, c’mon, what’s holding him back, he *said* he wanted to release an album this year, there’s “no reason” for a delay, gotta be his shitty team, free him. It drives me ‘round the bend because it’s the same talk from late last year, you know, when we later found out that at least one family member was losing a fight with drug addiction. Louis’s fan engagement/promo is therefore hella fraught: he has to balance LouisTM on twitter (Mr. Donny, he’s hard, mate), his werk IG posts, and his constant edging because nobody can remember or trust that he’s got this, that multiple things are in play. But he also knows his fanbase, knows that it’s resistant to any kind of change, so I hope he pushes through and stays true to what he wants to do. I was really encouraged with his last promo round because he seems to have narrowed in on a something solid, he’s got a plan, and it’s not, “hey mr dj, put my record on,” it’s getting his fans to trust that he and his team know what the fuck they’re doing, and spoiler alert, it ain’t radio, but go ahead and keep pissing off djs by sending angry tweets their way. (Related: why is it so bad to avoid the radio when all of us admit that radio music is garbage? Is it because it’s more about you than him? Much to think about.)

* Harry. My very favorite head canon is that Harry is Jeff’s nightmare client: what was perfection at first because the Azoffs are old-school promo all the way (no SM, baby, gimme that sweet, sweet paper), and that dovetailed nicely with post-1D Harry, but it quickly veered into mulish teeth pulling. Low profile can quickly spin into no profile, and that really doesn’t work too well when you’re trying to sell sell sell, even if your brand is Harry StylesTM. HS1 and Dunkirk in their own separate ways worked VERY hard to push past the still-persistent way the general public views Harry as boybander Harry Styles, or more accurately, former boybander Harry Styles who dated Taylor Swift (if you venture out and ask someone who’s not a fan), but what I love about Harry is that much like Zayn, he doesn’t seem to be too bothered by all that. Sure, he’s ambitious, he wants to challenge himself and do things, but he’s no Niall Horan. He’s put in his time! If he gets a number one, then cool, but he’s not gonna chase it. And this is where Harry’s team really reflects his goals and energy: sure, they want him to do some promo (that “Do” tweet, the entire bit about the fan in Australia and Harry Lambert’s follow, goddddd, I loved it, petty Harry, resigned Jeff), but they clearly aren’t forcing him. He drops a song that makes a HUGE splash, and the follow-up is…liking some tweets and going to a John Mayer concert (not a John Mayer fan, so that wouldn’t be my first choice, but I respond to the zero fucks given about the whole thing). The music industry has changed a LOT in just two years, so it’s kind of cool to see team Harry pivoting a bit, seeing more SM interaction, the kindness generator, etc., but that said, the team takes their cues from him, and he clearly doesn’t want to do a whole promo circuit beyond persons a, b, and c, and magazine R, F, and A. Does it make sense to have Rob Sheffield write a profile about Stevie Nicks-blessed shroom-eater Harry Styles when his new song sounds like the Zarry combo of my dreams? NOPE, but that’s okay, Harry wanted to talk to Rob, so that’s what happened. The new song is more streaming friendly, and thank CHRIST, a lot less crusty white dude stuck in the ‘70s, so I can only hope that the rest of the album is thus, but we shall see! We’ll also see if Harry’s fan engagement shifts any further into the active zone…so far, it’s been “I’m gonna follow some larries, like these fun generator posts, check out a few dads” and staged photo ops with the same familiar faces, but I think he’s dealing with his own major bts issues as well (album delayed at least twice; that entire stalking situation). I still contend the album’s coming in the next few weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see if/how any additional promo rolls out in this new world order post-gryles landscape, how many interviews he’ll do, but I like that there’s a strategy that seems less stodgy…kudos to the new SM team, at least!!

[The cifal is a monster from the Fiend Folio that gets an awful lot of crap. Which is too bad, because the idea of a swarm of bugs in human shape is a pretty cool concept. Frankly, I’m tempted to give one bard levels and put it in my game.

The mechanics of the original version are baffling even by the standards of 1e’s exception-based design, however. I can see it being awful in actual play, leading to its bad reputation. But not only did a true-blue CIFAL appear in the 4e D&D kitbash of Gamma World, two different fiendish versions of the idea cropped up in that edition as well, the swarm devil and host demon.

Cifal CR 8 N Aberration This writhing, seething mass is a conglomeration of thousands of insects, centipedes, spiders and other vermin, pushed together into a disturbingly humanoid shape.

Cifals are strange aberrant forms of life, a swarm of writhing vermin compressed into a man-like shape. The name was coined as an acronym (“colonial insect-formed artificial life”) by some sage long ago—they call themselves “the buzzing ones”, in a dialect of Aklo difficult to speak with fleshy lips and throats. Cifals are intelligent, albeit not very sophisticated, and they gather in groups to better hunt prey and to mingle their essences together to create new variety.

A cifal’s body contains many unrelated species of insects, spiders, scorpions and other invertebrates. The core of any cifal is its “nuclear swarm”, a gathering of intelligent flying insects of beetle-like appearance. The nuclear swarm hosts the cifal’s intelligence, and without it the mass collapses into self-devouring violence. With it, the creatures can work among themselves to create a unified body, which devours animal and plant tissue alike with appendages of chewing, squirming hunger. They can temporarily release control of their hosts to create a cloud that tears at all caught in it. When the body is slain, the nuclear swarm can escape, and typically flees to slowly build up a new stable of vermin to create a new body.

Advanced Cifals A cifal with the advanced template is typically one that has incorporated a whole swarm of vermin into its body, as opposed to cobbling together many discrete types. Advanced cifals may have a special attack that they inflict with their slams and bug burst. Some possible attacks include the cling ability of an army ant swarm, the disease of a tick swarm, the poison of a centipede or spider swarm, or the gnaw of a termite swarm. If there is a save DC involved with this attack, use the DC for the cifal’s abilities, not the DC for the original swarm.

Swarmlike (Ex) A cifal is composed of thousands of vermin, and has swarm-like characteristics. It is immune to any single target spells, but has vulnerability to any area of effects that deal damage. A strong or stronger wind deals 1d6 points of damage to a cifal each round, plus an additional 1d6 damage for each strength category above strong (no save). A cifal’s slam attacks deal bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage.

Julia: Wooo thanks for having us again! I had so much fun last time! And found out so many things about Tom!

I: Oh yes, your NSFW Alphabet interview was a success, our readers loved it! How does it feel to know that people read about your sex life? *looks at Tom*

Tom (blushing): It's a bit wild to think… people now know what Julia and I like… doing in bed…

J (smirking mischievously): Or on other places…

T (blush intensifies): ...But if they enjoyed it… then I'm glad, I guess… Thank you all… Uh, what is this interview about? More NSFW stuff?!

I: Haha, don't worry about it, Tom. This one's completely "safe for work". *Tom exhales, visibly relaxing* You'll be answering a Fluff ABC on your relationship, created by K, @pixelburied!

J and T: Thank you @pixelburied for this!

J (shuffling excitedly on her seat): This will be fun! Alright, let's begin!

I: A - Anger. What was your first fight about?

T: I thought this was a fluff alphabet. Not that we were going to talk about our fights…

J: Hmm, our first fight was over something stupid. Do you remember it, Tom?

T (chuckling): Haha, yes. We fought over a fricking mug.

I (looking visibly confused): A mug?

T: Yeah. Julia is very… possessive about her stuff. And she always accuses me on being too selfish with my video games… Anyway, it was on the next morning I spent the night in her place for the first time. I mean, on Arthur's cabin. While she was taking a shower, I decided to make us some coffee and… well, I picked the first mug I found. How the hell would I have known it was her favorite mug? That she only drinks tea in it? Dude, she got mad. She suddenly showed up in the kitchen, yelling at me—

J: Don't be so dramatic, Sato. And you should have waited for me and asked me if you could pick that mug. And of course that was my mug. It has a gigantic 'J' on it.

T: Anyway, she took the mug out of my hand and I had to drink my coffee on a cup.

J (laughing): I still remember grandpa’s face when he found us arguing on his kitchen because of the mug!

I: And do you have any big recurring arguments?

*Julia and Tom share a look before answering*

J: Yeah… you see, we have very different tastes and interests. In everything: music, cinema, games, clothing… *the Interview nods* So… we always end up fighting because we can't get each other, you know? Like, I don't see all the appeal when a new sequel of a famous game is coming out…

T: And I don't get why she gets so hysterical when there's a band she likes coming to play in town…

J: So we have arguments about it. We almost never can agree on what to do on leisure time. So after we had this very big fight, because of our different interests, we decided to split our time equally by doing something one of us enjoy.

I: But you don't have anything you both like to do?

T: We like going to the karaoke and to the movies. But we like different kinds of music and movies. Oh, but we love eating and trying on new food!

J: Yeah, we like going to new places to eat. And of course there are more things we enjoy doing together… kicking monsters asses, cuddling and… *she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively and Tom blushes immediately* If you get what I mean. But just spending time with him, doing anything, or even nothing, is the best thing ever.

T: I feel like… at the same time we can’t get get each other… we do get each other, you know? She knows what I’ll think or how I’ll react even before I know!

J: Yeah, Tom understands me better than anyone. Even though some of his things drive me crazy.

I: Aww, this is sweet. Alright, B - Best: what would you say is your partner's best trait?

J: Tom's incredibly loyal, noble and overall, a badass. *her boyfriend ducks his head, his cheeks blushing slightly, but he can't contain a grin from appearing on his lips* After all that chaos that happened in Westchester a few years ago, he could simply wish it to never happen again and try to forget and ignore it… but when those strange things started happening on Pine Springs, what he did? He moved there. To help people there. People he didn't know. This is the noblest thing I've ever seen.

T: And Julia is the bravest person I know. She handled everything, her parents death, all that cultist thing, the monsters, her grandma's revengeful spirit, like a badass. *he turns to her* I genuinely think  you're invincible. *Julia laughs loudly* And… she's so in love with life, with being alive, that I can't do anything but stand there in awe. She's seen some pretty heavy stuff, but she never loses this will to live. And she'll always be down to do anything. From just going to eat ice cream to going to a spontaneous road trip. You can propose anything and she'll be like 'let's do this'! *chuckles softly* And I guess, this is how we ended up here, doing this interview…

I: Haha, definitely! Our next letter is C - Camera. How do you document your relationship? Who likes to take pictures/videos?

T: We don't document every single thing about our relationship. In fact, we usually forget to take pics of our dates. I prefer being behind the camera.

J: Yeah, we can notice it by your Instagram account. You only take pictures of the others or, like, random stuff. You almost never show your pretty face. I personally suck on taking pictures, so I prefer serving as a model. Danni can confirm this. About our relationship… I like posting a bunch of stories on my Insta when I'm with Tom. Especially when he doesn't notice it.

T: Ugh, yeah. I bet half of her stories are about me asking her 'what are you doing'?

J: And I always say 'sharing your pretty face for the whole world to see'! And he always tries to get my phone out of my hands.

I: What about your D - Dates? What are they like? Do you plan them? Are they more spontaneous?

J: It depends on the day. Sometimes we just want to stay at home cuddling, playing video games (his case) or watching movies (my case).

T: Of course, some dates have to be planned beforehand. Like, when we want to go to a super famous and packed restaurant.

I: E - Early. How was the first month of dating like?

T: After the cultists and mad grandma were defeated, we finally had the time to go on dates and hang out with our friends.

J: It finally felt like a vacation. We spent most of our days together. I would split it between Tom, Elliot and our friends. It was nice and relaxing. Then that dick tried to kill me… but then I took care of him.

T: We went to Westchester a couple more times. Stacy invited us to this party on her house, do you remember it?

J: I do! And I finally got to know Tom's friends from Westchester better. It was nice.

I: Since we're talking about F - Friends… How's your relationship with each other's group of friends?

T: Uh, sometimes I regret introducing Julia to Andy. *his girlfriend laughs*

I: Why?

T: Because they gang up against me!

J: It's because it's so funny to tease you!

T (pouting): Nah, it's because you're both mean!

J: Aww, you big baby! *she leans in and pecks on his cheek* Anyway, as we said, Tom's friends were very open to include me. Tom met some of my college friends and my best friend (which I met in high school), Marina.

I: Oh, and how was it, Tom?

T: I guess we got along well. Her college friends are pretty crazy and like to party way harder than me, but they were all very nice. Marina was harder to please… *Julia giggles, shaking her head affirmatively*

J: She's very protective over me, especially after my parents death… we don't see each other as much because she's studying in another state, but we text each other a lot. When I told her about Tom… she promptly wanted to meet him and see if he deserved me. *rolls her eyes* She's sassy and not afraid of speaking her mind. She thought you were a bit too ‘nerdy’, but you ‘seem nice’ and is good for me, so everything's okay.

T: This is what she told you. To me, she said that if I ever break your heart, she'll come hunt me personally.

J (giggling): I can't believe you're afraid of her! She's even shorter than me!

T: She's pretty intense, okay?

I: Onto our next letter… G - Gifts. Do you like giving each other gifts? What kind?

T: Yeah. I always try to find something that I think she'll like… or something that will make her remind of me. She loves when I give her a new jacket. *he rolls his eyes, a smile on his face* Chocolate is another thing that never fails, but doesn't last.

J: There's no such thing as too many jackets. And same; I try giving him something that I know he'll like. Like, a new comic, or game, when I have more money. And funkos! Tom has a collection of them in his parents house.

I: Now tell me anything involving H - Hugs.

J: Tom's hugs are miraculous. You might be having the worst day ever of your life, but it'll instantly get better if you hug Tomoichi Sato. And I like how his arms involve me. *she rests her head on his shoulder, grinning at him*

T: Julia's got the best hugs ever too. Like, she always will give that full hug, you know? Not that half-ass lame hug. And she hugs you so tightly, as if she's afraid to let you go.

J: I only hug you and Elliot like this. I like when he hugs me from behind too. I feel safe.

I: You two are going to make me cry with all this fluffiness. *the young couple laughs* Okay, I - Inside Jokes. Do you have any?

T: Oof, probably more than we can remember. We both can find amusement in pretty much everything and make jokes about it.

J: Yeah, we're two dorks at heart.

T: ...But I always tease Julia on how short she is.

J: And I am constantly calling Tom a nerd. Which is true.

I: Oooh, this one's interesting… J - Jealousy. Who gets jealous easier?

T: In the beginning of our relationship, I was more insecure, so I got more jealous… but then Julia told me that she's such a hard monogamist (like me), so now I'm good.

J: Yeah, I don't have eyes for anyone else. Once I truly care and fall in love… well, that's it for me. I was so happy when Tom asked me to be his girlfriend, you have no idea. And I am more jealous than him. I'm trying to change, but it isn’t easy. Especially with Tom always being so nice to everyone and he's so pure… he never realises when people are hitting on him. And it happens more frequently than I'd like.

T: I swear, that dude on your uni's party wasn't hitting on me, Julia…

J: of course he was! He deliberately asked your number.

T: Because I told him that I fix boats and he told me he had a problem with his yacht!

J: He doesn't have a yacht! He's a broke college student like me! Not a Pine Springs citizen! Most people doesn't own yachts, Tom.

I (who's very interested on their argument): And how do you show your jealousy?

T: Julia get's this scowl all over her face. And usually wants to get the hell out of whatever we are as soon as possible.

J (with a scowl): I don't get a scowl, okay?! And Tom makes a bunch of questions from the person he's jealous about (usually a friend of mine), pretending to not care, when he clearly cares. *she clears her throat and starts imitating him* 'Hm… is she a friend of yours? Where did you meet her? Do you study with her? How long have you known each other? have you noticed the way she looks at you?' and etc.

I: Okay, we don't want you two having a fight, so let's continue our interview… Ah, this one's cute: K - Kiss. How do you usually kiss? Who usually initiates?

J: Of course I'm the one who usually initiates. Tom's just too shy.

T (blushing): Well… I never know when it's appropriate to kiss. And if you want it.

J: I always want to kiss you, Tomo. And it's always appropriate to kiss me. *she smirks at him* I usually pull him in by his t-shirt and kiss him. Like this. *she shows to the interviewer and Tom lets out a surprised squeal* Then it can get hot and heavy very quickly…

T (still blushing): I like how she gets on her toes to kiss me. And then I lean in to meet her halfway.

*Julia giggles and kisses him again*

I: L - Love. How was the first time you told each other those famous three words?

T: Oof, it was right before those cultists tried to use Julia as a sacrifice and kill us all. To be honest, I hadn't known I was in love with her until that night. Until she told me that I was in love. But then it all made sense and I told her I loved her. *he smiles fondly at her, his arm around her waist, who rests her head on his shoulder again*

J: And then I told him that I loved him too right away. Can you imagine if one of us had died that night?

T: That would have been so fucking tragic. I don't even want to think that.

J: But at least we had told each other.

T: Which would have made even harder to get over you. I'm just so glad we're both here.

J: Me too. I love you, Tomoichi Sato. A damn lot.

T: I love you too, Julia Vance. More than you’ll ever know.

I: Jeez, I might start melting here with you two. M - Movies. I know you already told me you have different taste on movies… but is there a kind of movie you like to watch together? Is it a regular Netflix ritual?

T: Well, we both like The Crown and the Flame series. We've just started the second season. We like watching Harry Potter together too. And some Disney movies from our childhood. We both love Mulan and The Lion King.

J: Yeah. Since we have the same age, we usually watch movies from when we were kids. But Tom's a huge geek, so he loves sci-fi and superheroes movies. I prefer drama and thriller movies.

I: Do you know each other's favorite movie?

J: Tom's is Back to the Future. The first one, obviously.

T: Julia loves Millennium - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The Swedish version, with Noomi Rapace.

I: Interesting! Do you have any N - Nicknames for each other?

J: I call him 'Tomo', like his parents call him.

T (giggling devilishly): I sometimes call her "Pixie". Because of her hair cut and because she's small. *Julia rolls her eyes*

I: When did you realize your partner was the O - One?

T: I guess when she told me I was in love with her. On the Wescott's yacht, before they tried to kill us.

J: Same. When I saw that disgusting cultist with that knife on your throat… *Julia clenches her hands into fists, her knuckles white with the grip. Tom rests his hand on top of hers, calming her down* oh boy, I turned into a mess. I thought I was going to lose him. I was terrified.

T: And when she climbed on Arthur's boat to save him and Elliot and face Josephine… I confirmed she was the one for me. I got so scared I'd never see her again. I wanted to go together, but she prohibited me.

J (smiling at him, tucking a stray strand of hair behind his ear): I told you I'd be back for you.

I: P - Pizza. What is your favorite food to eat together?

J (chuckling): Definitely not pizza. He likes pineapple on pizza. Ew.

T: As we told you before, we're always trying on new foods together. But the comfort food we found in common is pancakes. I guess we told you on the other interview that we make them together, right?

I: Oh yes, I do remember that. Okay, Q - Quit. Have you broke up? Almost broke up? What happened?

T: Uh, I don't like remembering this, but… on our last fight we almost broke up. But we got back together on the same day. Well, kinda.

J: I guess the whole long distance relationship, plus my jealousy and Tom's obliviousness and our nearly zero experience on dating led to that argument. Pizza was even involved.

I: Oh, it does sound pretty serious! How do you comfort each other on dark days, on R - Rainy Days?

J: Well… since my parents' deaths… I've had nightmares and terrible insomnia. There are days that I can barely sleep. But Tom sings some lullabies his grandma used to sing to him and it always helps me calm down and fall asleep. He won't ever admit it, but he sings greatly.

T: Thanks, Pixie. *he grins shyly* Cuddling sure helps a lot too. When I'm having my gloomier days, she buys me my favorite snacks and we spend the whole day playing video or board games.

I: This is the sweetest thing I've ever heard! By the way, it there something your partner did or does that makes you S - Soft?

T: I like when she idly plays with my hair. And calls me ‘Tomo’. *she giggles to the stupidly goofy smile on his lips*

J: Whenever he sings I turn into this useless mush. And when he cooks something to me. It might not be that good, but I'll eat everything.

T: Wait, have I ever cooked something that wasn't good?!

J (clearly avoiding his question): What's the next letter?

I: Do you T - Text each other a lot? What do you usually talk about?

T: All the time.

J: Yeah, we text each other daily. Especially when we're apart. We usually just talk about how was our day.

T: Oh, and if something happened and it reminded us of each other. It's basically just a bunch of memes!

I: What about sexting?

*Tom's face turns red*

J: We tried once, but I didn't like it. I prefer dirty talking, you know? Didn't see the appeal on that eggplant emoji. It's sexier hearing his voice.

I (laughing): Okay, I feel you. Hmm, tell our readers something U - Unique of your odd habits that surprised one another?

T: Well, that mug case was very surprising. You know, about Julia being so possessive about her things. And for someone who hates practicing sports, she surely can dance all night long. You'd be surprised on how many times I caught her dancing by herself when cooking or cleaning the house. And whenever we go out or go to sleep she has to check if every door and window is locked. But I guess that's understandable after all we had to go through.

J: Tom has this odd habit of sitting on the floor instead of a comfy chair or on the couch or bed. There's a sofa right there, but he'll prefer sitting on the floor while playing his games, for example. I stopped trying to understand him.

T: The floor is comfy! *she shakes her head*

I: V - Vanity. Is there something you're proud of yourself and your partner?

J: To be honest, it's pretty impressive how we're still together. It's been over a year since we've started dating. This is our first serious relationship for both of us, so I guess we're doing good, especially because we're on a long distance relationship. It's not easy making it work, but I knew we would handle it.

T: Yeah. I guess the best thing is that she's my best friend too (Andy still is!) and I'm hers. We had some bumps in the way, but we learned to tell each other everything. And respect our differences and our own personal space. We got each other's back and we trust in us.

I: A beautiful answer. Let me see what's our next letter, it's finally ending, guys… Oh. W - Wedding. Have you guys thought about it? Talked about it?

J (red as a tomato): We… we never talked about it, right, Tomo?

T ( also red as a tomato): No…

I: It doesn't necessarily have to be about a wedding itself. You can tell me if you talked about what's next to your relationship. If you got any plans for the future.

J (relaxing a little): Well, if everything goes well… After Tom graduates, we plan on living together. Not marrying or anything… Not yet, at least… Just living together… *she blushes harder as she gets more tongue tied* I'm currently living on Pine Springs again, now that I graduated and got a job there… I'm living with my grandpa and Elliot and have been saving money to rent an apartment in the future…

T: Yeah, and I intend to go back to Oregon as soon as I graduate… I talked to Lily and we have some plans on maybe funding a startup… And I just miss my parents, Julia and my friends. I still got a year and half until I finally graduate, so nothing's certain… Just a lot of dreams and plans…

I (smiling at them): I'm sorry to put you two in this situation. Are you looking forward to the future? Are you excited on living together?

T: Hell yeah! I can't wait to live with her. I guess it'll be an adventure. Maybe our greatest adventure even. *he chuckles*

J: I bet we'll argue about whose turn is to take the trash out and who's going to make dinner and etc, but I believe we'll handle it. *she blushes slightly* ...But I confess I kinda have a playlist of songs I'd like to play on my wedding…

T: What?! I want to listen to them!

T: I know it's unconscious, but I hate how she keeps tapping her foot or fidgeting her fingers when she's feeling restless. It annoys and distracts me.

J: I just can't stand on how Tom can live his life knowing that there's a pile of dishes on his sink to be washed, whenever I go visit him in Hartfeld. I always end up washing it myself. And Tom never reminds to lower the toilet lit.

I: Oh good, these things are normal to get irritated to. Y - YouTube. What are you like online? Do you post about your relationship constantly?

T and J (together): No.

T: To be honest, it took some time until my friends who I don't talk to frequently realised we were dating.

J: Yeah. I guess, since we live far apart, we don't have many opportunities to post about it on our social media. And when we're together, we certainly spend our time and have our attention on each other, not on the internet. Though I love posting those embarrassing pics and videos of him on my Instastories. *chuckles*

I: What about PDA?

T: When we're aware of people around us, we limit to holding hands and kissing on the cheek, forehead, a quick peck.

J: Yeah, we don't like having people watching. Although sometimes we can lose ourselves in the moment… And end up being caught. Danni told me she saw you grabbing my boob that time we went to play basketball, do you remember?

T: Oh crap! In my defense, I didn't know they were there watching us!

I: We have finally reached our last letter! Z - Zoo. Are you two into animals? Do you want pets? What kind?

T: We both like pets! Julia's friends with the strangest animals ever! An otter, a coyote, an owl, a zombie bunny…

J: But I wouldn't have them as my pets. I've always wanted to have a dog, but my parents wouldn't let us have it because of our apartment complex policy. *she turns to her boyfriend* We even talked about adopting a dog, didn't we? When we live together?

T: Yeah. If we survive each other. I had a dog when I was a kid and, oh man, I loved her. Jester was the best. I would like to have another. But first I need to graduate and we need to find a place that allows pets. And we have to have enough money to sustain us two and a dog.

J: And the problem is that you only like big dogs.

These go back a ways, but it doesn’t include every single reply I’ve received over the last....three weeks?...or so. I just don’t have that much time right now, but I want to do some replies. So, if you’re not included here, please don’t feel left out. Why and how is that water so blue?

The “why” is because I finally installed Dreadpirate’s shader fixes to de-blue snow at night. :) For those to work, the terrain shader -- which includes on-lot water -- has to be modified, and the two water mods that Dread made to be compatible with the no-blue-snow shader fixes were Voeille’s and the blue version of Moi’s. The latter is what’s in the pic because that’s the shader I currently have installed. But, I prefer and usually use the green version of Moi’s, and I’m hoping that Dread will see her way to making a no-blue-snow-compatible shader that uses the green version, but if she doesn’t I’ll have to choose between that too-blue one or Voeille’s, and I’d probably go with the latter. Or maybe...

Wow. As someone from limestone desert, however, I'm looking at the mountains and thinking: Where's the strata?

You know, when I was making that terrain, I tried several different kinds of textures for the high terrain. I knew I wanted something rocky because to me it looks odd when there are giant hills of green grass on more hilly/mountainous terrains.  And because I am a (near)desert dweller, I would’ve liked to have had stratified exposed rock. So I tried that. 

But the problem is the tiling. Not making the images tileable; I can do that. The problem is how the texture tile gets “painted” on the landscape, which isn’t something that can be controlled. The more detailed the image is, the more you notice the pattern repeat when it’s painted on the terrain, and it starts looking really weird. Between that and the struggle to get things in-scale, I imagine this is why most terrain defaults aren’t too detailed.

There is that! :D And I wish I didn’t shed. I’ve got super-long hair, and I can’t even begin to describe the amount of time I spend unraveling my shed hair from around the vacuum cleaner’s brush. *laugh* I mean, I usually go outside to brush my hair just to reduce the amount of shed hair that hits the floor. :)

They can’t be interacted with when they’re working, no. But they do walk by community lots, as was the case here, and then you can greet them. Once they’ve been greeted, they’re on the greeting Sim’s relationship panel, and then they can be called and dated and all that, so long as you’ve got the phone fix that allows NPCs to appear on the “Call this Sim” menu. I married-in a cook once.

Yes, I think more people have lush neighbourhoods, and as long as you warn people in the posts then it's up to them if they want to deal with switching defaults or not. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it and would be happy if you ended up sharing it! :)

Oh yeah, there will definitely be all sorts of warnings. :) Someone else suggested making a dirt and a desert version, which I can do because both have 4 neighborhood-view textures, and I suspect that not many people use the dirt terrain. So, if I can make the terrain work like I want, I’ll probably make both a desert and a dirt default version.

Ah, I’d rather be in the mountains. Hubby’s house is a beach house in Orange County and while it’s nice being on the beach eventually all the people on the beach get to me. That, and the traffic. I’m something of a traffic-phobe when driving. But on the plus side: Fast internet, woo! :) I’m lucky to get 4Mbps out of the satellite here, but out there....Oh, yeah. :)

It’s funny. Given Denmark’s latitude, you’d think y’all would get a lot snow, but I guess since you’re at sea level and surrounded by water you get more of a maritime-type climate. Well, if you want snow...Come on over! :) We’re heading into melt/mud season now, though. Going to SoCal is going to be a bit of temperature shock. It’s room temperature and warmer there and it’s around freezing here. *laugh*

It is red, yeah, but I kinda wanted that. I used pics taken in Moab, Utah for the soil, and the soil and rock there tend toward a Mars-like orange. :) I didn’t want orange, but I didn’t want just brown, either, so I went with clay-colored, which is sort of what I’ve got around here, at least in patches.

Hmmm...I'm curious to see how my own dirt roads would look with this. But you'd probably need something a tad darker.

Feel free to try it out! I have a picture in my mind of what I’d like to do to make a matching dirt road default, but I don’t know if it’ll pan out. If it doesn’t, I’ll need to come up with something else, and I might just use yours as a template of sorts. :)

Hello! After much debate I decided to get the upgrade for GoodNotes5 so I thought I’d put out my own review! There were a lot of negative comments about it but I figured there was no harm in trying it myself, especially since it was free to download 😅 Anyways, a very long review under the cut!

I was skeptical when I previewed it in the AppStore due to all the negative reviews, but I honestly didn’t find much an issue with the upgrade at all other than a few minor things here and there. i feel like this is going to be super long, so i’ll be sticking with some highlights!

1. the new format

personally, the organization of folders/categories/etc hasn’t been a deal breaker for me thus far on gn4 or gn5 as long as I can still get to my things without having to make it through a labyrinth in order to find them. the introduction of folders isn’t really a new concept, just a replacement for the categories in gn4 and as expected works the same (the folders, imo, look cleaner too). the folders can be arranged by the date of you last interacting with it or alphabetically.

an addition i really like, though, is the ability of being able to favorite a folder, notebook or note for quick access. it’s a small thing to be excited over, however i find it very neat and handy since i use a numerous amount of sub-folders inside larger categories in order to organize my things. bookmarked pages can also be accessed here!

the search function is also still present as you can see in the first pic above, and works the same as in gn4, although maybe a little less advanced. you can also find your recently opened documents underneath the search bar as well, which i find useful for quick access purposes. 

something else i was overjoyed to discover was the ability to import your notes from gn4 over to gn5. the only con i can really find with this is the fact that from what i can see, you cannot reformat the pages of your gn4′s notebook in gn5 without it freaking out on you. 

that is to say that if one of your pages is grid paper on gn4 and you try to change the paper template on gn5, the page will no longer format correctly to the gn5 paper. copying a pasting the content (which i’ve discovered you can do across the apps (i.e. copying content from gn4 and pasting it into gn5)) only helps a little but imo it still looks a bit messy. 

2. toolbar improvement

the tool bar has made some large improvements, including a new pen and other upgraded features gn4 didn’t have. being able to to access my camera roll in order to add pictures directly from the toolbar is a very welcome change as i actually hated the old process lmfao. 

although i don’t have a a picture to show for it, the eraser tool also now has the ability to just erase highlighter marks! another small thing that got me excited :D

the integration of the color wheel is also welcomed wholeheartedly! once you choose your color, it’s also as simple as clicking the ‘add to presets’ button in order to save it to your color collection!

3. final thoughts:

the only huge issue i have with the app is that it backs up to iCloud instead of allowing me to redirect the back ups into Google Drive as I’ve been doing with gn4. exporting my notes is a minor issue, since it still allows me to send it off to Google Drive, DropBox, etc. for my purposes, i’m switching over to gn5 since the improvements outweigh a lot of the cons people have pointed out since it’s release. not to say they’re wrong, of course, considering we all have different needs, but as for me, switching over is in my best interest.

there’s a lot more stuff i didn’t touch on due to how long this post would be if i did lmfao so if you have questions before you buy/upgrade, feel free to message me!

Art and Fics Due - September 26th, 11:59 PM (Midnight) PST (here is a timezone converter.) ~ We can't wait to see what you all have created and can't wait to share it with everyone! IMPORTANT NOTE: I will be sending out emails to our artists who were willing to pinch hit art, as we have one outstanding art claim, and we may delay Debut Day if it is not picked up. (There may also be a slight delay because the mods are sick and in school, but we are doing our best not to let that happen!) POSTING: In case you need a hand with posting or last minute questions, check under the cut for a rundown on how to post your final works to the 2018 Collection.

POSTING REQUIREMENTS Where do we post our completed fics? We are using AO3 collections, with the deadline for submission as September 26th, and the reveal date of October 1st. You can post them up early!! Post them up now, if you want! You can also post your fics anywhere else you like, just don't post them anywhere before the Debut Date. Everyone who has signed up for this challenge should have an AO3 account, but if you don't, you can still sign up. You can ask a friend for an invite code, or you can request from A03 here or at

ao3_invitecodes. If you are unfamiliar with it, here is the FAQ of AO3. Do not publish your fic for everyone to see at AO3. Instead, submit it for our 2018 collection. Only the author of a work can add it to a collection, and then the mods approve it and we'll reveal it on the Debut Date. This will bring you to the normal template where you submit your fic/artwork. For Artist: your summary line should include your author's name and the title of their story (if you know it). 3. For images like artwork and icons and banners and cover art, use the <*img src="INSERT YOUR URL HERE"> HTML coding (remove the *). You can first upload your images at Tinypic or imgbox or a similar image hosting website, and then make an A03 post with the HTML coding. (*NOTE: As of 2017, photobucket no longers allows you to post and link without paying big bucks, so avoid photobucket.) 5. Submit your fic/artwork. You need to make sure when you hit "Post" that you see this text at the top of the resulting page:

6. Now, your fic should NOT be displayed to the general audience. It might not even show up on your dash, but fear not. You can still edit, add new chapters, mess around with it to your heart's content. We, the mods, unfortunately do not have access to your story. We cannot tell if it is properly formatted or not. THIS IS FRUSTRATING, but there's nothing we can do about it. We can only see your name. All works are titled "Mystery Works" until we reveal the entire big bang. So, please make sure your own fic is properly formatted. If you need to edit your fic, login and go to your dashboard. Go to the "Edit Works" button in the top right corner. From there, you can edit your works.

A03 will require you to format a header with all regular information on it. Remember to properly tag your works, including appropriate warnings. Both HTML and Rich Text are supported, and you can edit/delete, have multiple chapters, etc... 1. The Rich Text Editor lets you add formatting, links and pictures to text without using HTML tags. It also has an option for pasting from Word which will preserve some of your Word formatting, although please note that this is buggy. The Rich Text Editor is only available for your work text. 2. The HTML editor allows you to change the look of your text with HTML tags. It can be used in any place you can submit text, although some fields permit only a small subsection of allowed tags. You can see a full list of the allowed HTML on the Archive FAQ, but the standard HTML tags is as follows: b, big, blockquote, br, caption, center, datetime, div, dl, dt, em, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, height, hr, href, i, img, ins, small, span, src, strike, strong, sub, sup, table, u, and more. Also, a few years ago,

anr was a saint and provided you with a post that explained "how to format a fic for posting in less than 30 seconds no matter the story length or amount of formatting" trick. The mods won't be overly picky about formatting. I'd prefer for all dividers and scene breaks to use <*hr> (remove the *) which creates a horizontal line that serves perfectly as a scene break. However, that's optional. You choose your own way to format. Other optional suggestions, just for uniformity sake's: How do I do Chapter Titles: Bold 'em. How do I timestamp and do locations: Italicize the dates and locations. How do I do subtitle stuff: Italicize it. There is only one major fail regarding format, and that has to do with paragraphs breaks. There must be a full line break between paragraphs. Example of doing it wrong:

Chapter One: The Invasion March 6, 2005 - The City of Atlantis Elizabeth ducked quickly behind a console and attempted to catch her breath. A flush of pink colored her cheeks and a thin sheen of sweat had appeared on her brow. If the situation weren't so dire, John would have been turned on. As it was, however, he couldn't give it much thought as he had to focus on the batch of Ancient zombies that were slowly staggering in through the Stargate. "At least they can't run," he offered lamely. Elizabeth spared him a glare. "Why can't they run?" "I don't know." John shrugged. "But they never seem to run. They always lurch. Maybe when they're brought back to life they don't get knees?"

Chapter Two: Ancient Ex-Girlfriends Yes, They're Zombies Too Elizabeth peeked around the consol. "Oh, my god," she breathed. "Is that--" "Chaya?!" John squeaked. "Talk about creepy ex-girlfriends." Rodney scrunched his nose. "She doesn't look good in green." John cringed and crouched down lower. "Do you think she's their leader?" Elizabeth looked thoughtful. "Well, this may be better for us." She narrowed her eyes at John. "We can give them you in trade for a cease fire--" Something caught her attention behind John and she broke off. "No, wait. Look to the left! That's... oh, god, John. That's Teer!" John and Rodney stared in disbelief. "Damn you, Kirk!" Rodney groused, and hit John upside the head. "We're going to be killed by a legion of your dead ex-girlfriends!" "Okay, everybody calm down," John soothed. "Let's not overreact and go blaming--" "Hey, look, your ex-wife!" "What?!!"

Grammar and Spelling fail: If your fic doesn't look beta'ed, we will call you on it, which will create an AWKWARD situation for both of us. Having a beta is a REQUIREMENT. Grammar, spelling, proper paragraph structure, etc... these are all REQUIREMENTS. You need to give your beta ample opportunity to go over your fic for mistakes and edits, so remember to factor that into your deadline. Don't have a beta? Check out this post!

Can I post it to my journal a few days early to show my friends? No. The first time you show your fic for this big bang must be on Debut Day, on this comm. Mods will handle the revealing details.
