He watched the smoke waft from the tip of his cigarette and dissipate in the misty morning air. His glass of firewhiskey sat untouched on the table next to him. He’d grabbed it in his fury to get some fresh air, but in retrospect, it might have been a tad too dramatic, even for him, especially before breakfast. “I’m sorry, Theo.” Harry’s voice came from the sliding door to their balcony.

… there [Harry] was, seated on the couch in the library with Theo’s feet touching his thigh as Theo practically hung off the arm rest to reach for the nail polish bottle. His boots rested on the floor in front of the couch, abandoned, and Harry ignored the slightly bubbly feeling that came with Theo feeling comfortable enough with him to take off his shoes and recline back on the couch. If only that bubbly feeling didn’t always lead to a fast-beating heart and thoughts that got all kinds of jumbled together.

Opening paragraphs: These must be the opening paragraph of the work. If you're an artist, please include the paragraph before leading in with your creation. The details of the opening paragraph have been left as vague as possible (gender, relationships) except for trope establishments (hero and villain). Please amend the opening paragraph to fit the context of your narrative.

While there is no submission deadline, entries will be revealed daily from November 1st 2022.
