A character design I got from @rainecloud020604! I'm in love with this guy and his cringefail energy
A rival space pirate captain to Lilith, they spend their time wandering the cosmos in search for crimes that don't give them the biggest score, but the biggest entertainment value. He likes to antagonist Lilith any chance he gets, and will actively take jobs they don't want just to have a chance to get in her way

Venus in Thriller Bark! Oof... 😰
Let's be real; Absalom seems like the type to think he's worthy of two wives, instead of one.

For Agathe and/ or Absalom and whoever else you may want 🌽: How does this OC feel about acts of affection? What's their favourite act of affection, physical or emotional?
Agathe loves acts of affection of pretty much every stripe, although she is largely unaware of this before she moves to Eckersfield because her early life was a very mundane kind of unpleasant. After she moves in, though, people are very eager to love her and she is smothered in thanks and invited to things, and she really likes being appreciated and treated like part of the community rather than A Resource. And since she's friendly and receptive, people then start bringing her food and and gossip and giving her hugs and in all cases she's like 'oh. I like this, actually.' She's fundamentally incapable of ASKING for any of it, but thankfully witches are expected to be a little odd (Eckersfield's prior witch definitely was) so most everyone takes 'eagerly turns up and is polite and helpful' as 'would like to be invited again.'
She mostly shows her own affection with casual touches and little magics (not all consciously-cast) and pie. Which honestly, even if they didn't like her, she would be invited to things for blessings and pie. The pie is very good. (The secret is All The Butter.)
Absalom's knee-jerk reaction to being shown affection is 'what do you want,' because people have not historically been nice to him without ulterior motives. Which on the one hand is kind of fair (he's terrifying and you want him aimed away from you) and on the other hand has been very alienating and he can usually tell and always hates it, so he actually usually responds better to anything BUT niceness. He mostly enjoys snark and being treated like a person rather than a rabid animal or a thermonuclear bomb.
He (unfortunately) tends to SHOW affection by trying to be helpful, and he will not ask first whether you want the thing he intends to give you or, indeed, help at all. Which could be good since Agathe is bad at asking for things except that he also fundamentally does not understand her as a person (he has never in his life been satisfied and is not about to start now; she was primary breadwinner for her family by age 5) and therefore tries to give her things that stress her the fuck out.

100 days of art, 48/100 - Absalom Hayes, resident gay disaster airship captain and one of my most favorite OCs.
Not terribly good at emoting, and thus frequently seen as cold, distant, and vaguely creepy; those who bother getting to know him see him as sweet and thoughtful to a fault, and entirely too sentimental for his own good. Cares deeply about people, which is both his greatest strength and his worst flaw.
He's also the type of person who talks to inanimate objects, which led to him striking up an unlikely friendship with his Surprise Sentient airship. it's a long story.

Okay Sal, both Ariadne and I would love to know what do you think of your birthplace, Absalom? Did you have a favorite place? Do you miss it? Would you ever go back, whether to visit, or even live?
“Can a person have two homes?”
A deep melancholy lurks in those thoughts.
“Ariadne, my dear, you probably know what I mean. My destiny lay elsewhere, but Absalom will always be a part of me, a part of who I am. What connects me with Drezen … I’d call it love at second sight, now it became a home as well.
But yes, I do, I miss Absalom. It unites some of the greatest treasures in Golarion, marvelous architectural masterpieces, a living and driving art scene, combines countless forms of entertainment, its atmosphere is peerless and its social structures multilayered and complex.
Before I was forced to leave and came to Mendev, I saw my place and all my gaols within the Grand Council and the internal political stuggles of the city. But things played out differently.
My favorite place in Absalom is the harbor with its buzzling activity and the giant ships.” He smiles to himself. “They excited me when I was a boy. It’s connected to some of the more pleasant of my childhood memories.”
For a moment more, he allows himself to indulge in the pictures in his mind, then he straightens his back. “My place is in Drezen. That’s where I live and rule and I love and cherish my new home dearly too. But every once in a while, I visit Absalom, indeed, usually as a short vacation with Daeran at my side. As expected, he developed a certain weakness for the city and its ... opportunities as well."

“ROSÉ!” Sanji shouted in horror. She had just taken a blast from Absalom’s canon at force blank range. “Rosé are you okay?!” He called, unable to see her through the smoke. He was going to fucking murder Absalom for this.
“I’m quite alright.” Rosé called out from the smoke. “I told you before that I never learned iron body.”
The smoke began to disperse revealing Rosé… totally fine? Her outfit was damaged, but she was standing tall with a calm expression. “You see, I’ve never needed to learn iron body.”
“What the hell?!” Absalom shouted. “I hit you from two feet away! You should be dead!!”
“You are not the only one who’s been upgraded by a doctor.” Rosé replied. “When I was six years old, my bones were removed and were replaced by metal.”
Sanji dropped his cigarette. She was six. She was just a child and they turned her into a lab rat. He wished he had hit Jabra even harder now. She was only six… what else did they do to her?
Rosé began to shift into her beast form, four long legs sprouting from her back and lifting her in the air. “Now then Absalom. Let’s see who lasts longer? The predator of Thriller Bark, or the spider of CP9!”
Sanji let her take over the fight. He had Crossette and Nami to save. But he was definitely talking about this with Rosé later…

Actually yeah let me go back to those time travel thoughts. Aurien got thrown back 5 years in time. They had time to warn their past self about how they’d get caught and exiled from the temple. Aurien actually had every chance to change the past and just completely screw with the timeline.
and they didn’t. They stayed up north and didn’t attempt meeting their past self. Not sure what this says about them but it could say something.

OC Asks for Agathe and Absolom: 9 and also 1 because i'm nosy and cheating on the instructions to send one question xD
I mean, as we all know, I cannot shut up, so I'm not complaining about multiples XD
9: If your character could have handed their role in the plot to someone else, would they have?
Agathe's big problem, and the reason she is doomed to be the protagonist of her story, is that the answer to this is 'no.' Like. She WANTS to go back to her cottage with her cat and her goats. She WANTS to give her role to someone else. She wouldn't, though, because she doesn't trust anyone else to handle things right. (Although since so much of this is about not trusting or relying on other people, and because that's a flaw she needs to work on, her answer at the end of the story would probably be different. Growth. But too late for her because at that point, she's already done the plot.)
Absalom would not trade his role; he's actively sabotaged people who tried. Also, he's Actually Not Bored while the plot is happening! It's very pleasant and surprising. (Agathe begs to differ. It is not pleasant at all, in her opinion.
1: How did you choose their name?
I am unfortunately afflicted with this problem where literally a quarter of my characters have names that start with A for reasons I cannot entirely explain. In this case, I just banged out a story about a baby witch and by the time I was done both of them had their names and I couldn't change them because they were like '...no, that is my name, YOU do not get to change it.' Ornery brats.

Doctor Agatha Shiny
Tumblr media
Image © @iguanodont
[Writing this entry was very cathartic. Doctor Shiny is not only my Villain OC (and trust me, there's nothing even remotely redeeming about her), but also a way to process the trauma I experienced in grad school. You may have noticed that "collegial mad scientists" are a recurring theme in my work; Doctor Shiny is their boss in the Inner Sea, at least as far as mere mortals go. I’ve been meaning to create a Legion of Doom in my campaigns, and this is as good an excuse as I’m likely to get. As one of the most powerful alchemists on Golarion, I gave Doctor Shiny access to a ton of weird extracts; I'm just posting a link to the Archives of Nethys master list than linking to them individually.
Also? Without any visual reference, Iguanodont managed to make Doctor Shiny look an awful lot like me. Spooky.]
Doctor Agatha Shiny CR 20 NE Humanoid This woman is fat and cheerful, her brown hair done up in a messy ponytail. She is dressed in a lab coat, heavy gloves and boots. Two tentacles grow from her back, each studded with sightless eyes.
Everyone in Absalom knows who Doctor Agatha Shiny is; she’s a celebrity scientist. Head of the Biology Department at Endiron School in Eastgate, her lectures on everything from diet to material science to biodiversity are popular and well attended by the public for entertainment and education purposes. Her column, “Ask Doctor Shiny”, is carried by several broadsheets and circulations. “Ask Doctor Shiny” is a slang phrase in Absalom meaning roughly, “how should I know?” Her various grad students and colleagues have nothing but nice things to say about her. Because the ones who talk out of turn have a habit of ending up dead or transformed.
Despite her jolly exterior, Doctor Shiny is a sadist of the highest caliber, and someone who is disgusted with humanity in general. It is her studied opinion that humans have been the dominant species on Golarion for far too long, and the ultimate aim of her research is to find a suitable replacement. Her primary laboratory for these experiments is the Puddles, which is increasingly home to murderous monsters of her own design. Doctor Shiny and the headmaster of her college, Tontartigan Dellby, have a system of mutual blackmail; both knows the broad strokes of each other’s schemes, enough to expose and humiliate the other if pushed. Agatha knows that she would win any conflict if it were to arise—she would merely shred Dellby with her bare hands and replace him with a simulacrum that obeyed her every command.
Doctor Shiny’s main lab is underground at Endiron School, but she maintains laboratories throughout Absalom and the entire Inner Sea region, each one of which has a doppelganger simulacrum she can project her mind into. Each lab is a facility for collecting monsters from the region, running tests on their physical and magical properties, and incorporating their characteristics into fleshwarped abominations. Her raw materials for fleshwarping often include those aforementioned recalcitrant students, as well as indigents, adventurers and other people who go unmissed. Those that would be missed are replaced with simulacra, or turned into dominated sleeper agents. Doctor Shiny has done some self-experimentation; tentacles grow from her back (she keeps these under her lab coat in her role as a public figure), and her internal organs are no longer fully human.
Like any good scientist, Doctor Shiny maintains a network of colleagues, almost all of whom are just as depraved as she is. Her Number One Minion is a blue slaad named Ranna, who was once a graduate student named Marina Rhinne, and to most of the world is still known by that name and identity. Ranna serves Doctor Shiny as an assassin, collection agent and lover. Doctor Shiny was the first contact point in Absalom for a species of fleshwarping monsters from Sarusan who have decided that the Inner Sea is ripe for their exploitation—these are the zern. She is also the chair of CIS, the Committee for Ingenious Science. CIS is a network of mad scientists throughout Avistan and Garund who occasionally report on their findings and brainstorm new ways to exert their will on the world. And lastly, Agatha Shiny is a religious woman. Her primary deity is Shub Nugganoth, but she sees the Goat of the Woods as the leader of a small pantheon of gods and demigods devoted to nightmares of evolution and knowledge at any cost. These six deities are the kyton demagogue Raetorgash, the sahkil tormentor The Vermillion Mother, the daemonic harbinger Deceid, the demon lord Abraxas, Shub Nugganoth and her green (wo)man daughter, Briarpatch. Doctor Shiny refers to these six as the Xammux, a zern word meaning “council”.
New Material: Shoggomer Shoggomer is one of Doctor Shiny’s miscellaneous inventions, although she typically refers to it as “self repairing polymer” in public. It is a form of latex, made with both tree sap and fleshwarping reagents derived from shoggoth ichor. Shoggomer can be used to make clothing, or any form of armor typically made from leather, hide or fur. As it is flexible, it cannot be used to make shields or typically metal armors. Shoggomer armor reduces its spell failure chance by 10%, increases max Dexterity bonuses by 2, and decreases armor check penalties by 2. Materials made of shoggomer heal at a rate of 2 hit points per day, or 1 per day if they have the broken condition. While healing, shoggomer materials manifest sightless eyes, small mouths or small flapping tendrils—this both institutes an armor check penalty of 2 when worn, and creatures within 30 feet must succeed a DC 15 Will save or be shaken for 1 minute by the eerie sight. A creature is only affected by the fear effect of repairing shoggomer once in a 24 hour period, whether it succeeds or fails the save. Shoggomer items are always of masterwork quality

OC Kiss Week - day 3
For my friend @arendaes - a magic azata kiss for Ariadne 🦋💜
The Best in the World… continued
The planar gate briefly fills the air of Golarion with sparkling rainbow rays, releasing a flock of golden hummingbirds and two demigods before it snaps shut again.
“It’s an emergency,” Daeran declares. There’s something in his defiant stance that warns them: if they argue, they’re in for it. But the moment he lays eyes on Woljif he loses some of his poise. “What—whatever is that?”
Woljif scowls. You’d think a demigod could stop himself from blushing. “We were in Elysium, ok? I’m tryina blend in.”
He is wearing an Elysian chiton made of the gossamer silk of the luna moth and embroidered with shadow and gold; high, gilded sandals are laced halfway up his skinny cobalt calves; gold bangles decorate his bare arms, and a crown of flowers hangs over one horn. With an eye-roll Woljif snaps his fingers and is once again clad in his familiar leathers.
Daeran lets out a full-throated laugh and in that instant Siavash realizes what it is exactly that has changed about him these past few weeks: his laugh has lost its brittleness. It’s still razor sharp and a little wild, but richer, more solid, less likely to shatter.
Ariadne is trying hard not to laugh at Woljif herself but her tail dances.
“So what’s the emergency?” asks Siavash. They’re in Ariadne’s fathers’ garden in warm Absalom sunlight.
“Ariadne’s wayfinder has gone missing.”
Siavash glances Woljif’s way.
“What? It wasn’t me!”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You didn’t have to. I can read your mind, remember?”
Siavash raises an eyebrow at Daeran. “And this is an emergency worth interrupting an Elysian revelry for.”
“A dire emergency,” affirms Daeran, his eyes flashing defiantly again. “That wayfinder means a lot to her.”
“It was a personalized gift from my fathers when I was inducted into the Pathfinder Society and yes, it means a lot to me!” Ariadne does indeed look distraught.
“I suspect it was lost during our little excursion to Sothis and hence I hold the two of you responsible,” Daeran says with an arch frown.
Woljif shrugs one shoulder. “I’m good at locatin’ lost things, I can look into it.”
Again Siavash raises a brow his way.
“What? You’re not still mad about the thing?”
“Which thing?”
“Forget it. I’ll take care of it for you, Ariadne. So uh, what does it look like?”
While Ariadne describes it, Daeran catches Siavash sizing him up and smiling knowingly. “What? Don’t you dare act smug. Not in that outfit.”
Hopelessly smitten. Who would have thought, Siavash chides him telepathically.
“I didn’t really want to cause an interplanar fuss,” Ariadne says, wringing their hands despite Woljif’s apparent eagerness to help.
Siavash squeezes them around the shoulder and plants a kiss on their temple that feels warm and somehow sparkly like one of her glitterbomb concoctions. “We’ll have it back in no time. You have no less than three demigods on it.”
“Two,” corrects Daeran.
“Three,” Siavash corrects him right back. “You wouldn’t decline to help a damsel in distress?”
That evening Ariadne takes advantage of the time to herself to hit the alchemy books she’s been neglecting since Daeran swept into her life. She feels oddly energized, easily concentrating on complicated reaction ratios, not even minding that her happy humming is off-key (or perhaps it’s more on-key than usual?), when the slightest whisper behind her suddenly causes her to freeze.
She holds her breath. There’s a sense of wrongness she can’t place; nor does she understand why she is so highly alert tonight, when normally she’d be curled up under the lab bench having a nap by this hour.
It could be anything—a mouse, a loose parchment settling to the floor, Elvandir bringing her a midnight cup of tea—but somehow she knows it’s dangerous.
Too late.
A spell – tensile webs of arcana closing around her.
She resists with a force of will she did not know she possessed, an energy that refuses to be bound lending her limbs fierce strength, and the dark web gives way and unravels.
There is only one thought: get away from the house. Whatever this danger is, it must not hurt her fathers.
All Ariadne sees as they tuck into a roll and come up on the other side of their attacker is a shadow clad in supple Pharasmin ash-gray, incanting another spell behind its veil.
Deflecting again with this strange freeing force animating their limbs, Ariadne throws open the lab door and sprints out into the night garden. How is it they can see so clearly on a cloudless night is a mystery to consider another time. They sense the gray-clad attacker approaching swiftly at their heels.
But she hears it hiss, stumbling as little vines whip out to tangle its legs.
She is free.
Clearing the garden wall in one vault, sprinting with the wind in her ears down the path toward the city—
She doesn’t spot the second attacker until it’s too late. It lunges out of the shadows of the neighbors’ toolshed and this time Ariadne is unable to snap the dark threads of magic before she is overcome and roughly pushed through a portal.
More darkness, but this time cold and stale. Under their limbs as Ariadne twists to their feet they feel the dry rasping of sand. And walls on every side.
