Why not me?

author’s note: hi☺️ i had a bad and horrible week and why not some dazai angst? also please forgive me if this fanfic isn’t satisfying enough for you.

characters : dazai, reader(you), another woman

genre: angst, hurt/no comfort, you died,|| by suicide, lmao

summary : Osamu Dazai, your husband, gets bored of you and decides to get into a relationship with another person, you find out. What happens next?

You were waiting for Dazai to come home from work, he usually came home earlier than you but ever since last week, he started to come home late.

You then decided to make dinner for yourself and him while waiting. The door creeked open, and behind the door was Dazai. “Dazai!! where were you? why were you taking so long to get out of work?” you asked him in a curious tone. ‘Dammit, when can she shut the fuck up?’ Dazai thought to himself, wondering when can you stop trying to meddle into his problems, “Oh, something just came up at work. Now can you please get off of me? I want to change.” Dazai responded to you. You wondered why he was suddenly so distant from the last week, then you saw something you didn’t want to see.

‘A fucking hickey? on his fucking neck? is he cheating on me? Am I not good enough for him? Should I ask him about it?’ You thought to yourself. “Is there something wrong, Belladonna?” Dazai asked you, in a worried tone, you shook your head and brushed your thoughts away. “Did you have your dinner yet, Dazai?” “Oh yeah, I did, no need to make me dinner, I’m full” ‘Yeah full eating out someone else’s pussy’ you thought to yourself.

“Oh okay. I’ll go to bed now.” You responded to him. Walking to your shared bed, knowing that your husband doesn’t love you anymore, and that your nightmare came true. “Why not me?” You whispered to yourself, closing your eyes to go to sleep and wish for a great dream.

The next morning😦😦(im wishing i wont have a next morning)

You woke up, not feeling Dazai’s presence in your bed. Frowning, you got up to shower and went to the pharmacy, planning to buy medicine because it felt like you had a headache . As you were walking home, you saw Dazai, at a restaurant, sitting with another woman. You decided to let him be because, why would you interrupt him from being happy? You saw him smiling at the woman, holding her hand, wishing that it was you instead. You were about 35ft. away from your house, and near your house was an alleyway. “SOMEONE!! PLEASE HELP ME!” a voice screamed, you wondered who it was and being worried and curious, you ran to the alleyway to help the person who was screaming for help.

You saw a girl, who looked like she was only 14, holding another girl in her arms, which you assumed that it’s someone probably important for her, both being held hostage. “Hey, are you okay?” You asked running towards them in a worried tone. “Hey! Get away from the children or I’ll shoot.” The kidnapper said, threatening and holding unto the gun. Little did they know, a policeman is running to the commotion because of the little girl’s scream for help. You suddenly jumped in front of the gun, and out of luck, only your shoulder was shot at and not anywhere at your chest. “Run, please, I can handle it, and please, get some help.” You said to the little girl who was shocked. She ran into the policeman who was on his way to see what happened in the scene. “Sir! please! Help the woman there! She got shot!!” She cried at the policeman as he went and saw your body, on the floor, unconscious due to loss of too much blood. As for the kidnapper there, he tried to run but he couldn’t. He ended up getting arrested, and for the girl she went back to her family safely with her sister. Oh… but for you? You ended up in the hospital. Once you woke up, you got questioned if you had anyone close to you to visit you by the nurse. “Oh.. yes, I do, his name is Dazai Osamu, he is my husband. Now where is my phone? I’ll call him.” “Ma’am, I’m sorry but calls are not allowed in the hospital unless the staff is the one calling.” “What about you call him? I’m sure you won’t mind, right?” “Of course. I’ll give him a call that you’re injured and that you’re in the hospital, anything extra you want to say to him?” “No, thank you” You responded to the offer. The nurse went outside to call Dazai by using your phone. She then went back inside after 2-4 minutes and gave your phone back. “Please call for me if you have any complications with moving or if anything hurts. I’ll get the doctors, okay?” the nurse said. “Alright.” You responded.

Soon after Dazai ran to the hospital, leaving his mistress alone for the date.

“Belladonna! Are you okay? the nurse told me you got shot and lost alot of blood!! Oh please, tell me you are!” Dazai barged into your room, the nurse telling him to be quiet politely and left the two of you alone. “Belladonna? is there something wrong? Do you feel unwell?” “Of course I do, Dazai, you think seeing your own husband going out with other woman doesn’t make you sick?” Dazai’s eyes widened to your response, wondering how you found out. “Suprised? Oh don’t even think your that good at hiding things away from me. I know you better than I know myself. You are just like a part of me, Dazai. We’ve been together for years and you think you can still hide stuff away from me?” “Belladonna- I’m sorry, okay? Please forgive me, I really am. When I heard from the nurse that you got shot, it made me feel an uneasy feeling in my stomach too. I’m so sorry, belladonna, I didn’t mean to hurt you.” “Am I not good enough for you, Osamu?” you said with teary eyes, not daring to look right at him. “Belladonna, you are, I am just such a selfish man and I thought, I didn’t deserve you because you were beyond the meaning of the word kindness. Please, my love, don’t leave me.” “I won’t leave you, but you deserve someone much more better than me, Osamu. I kind of need some space right now, honey, so please leave me alone.” “As you wish, my beloved.” Dazai said as he left a room, with a sad look on his face. He felt bad for you and decided to prepare some gifts for you once he will go back to visit you tomorrow.

The next day, he went into the hospital and then to your room, but when he was just near the door, he heard a shriek from your room. He went to your room and then saw the nurse shocked, and your body, unconscious, on the floor. He rushed to your body, feeling this nostalgic feeling that he felt with his dearest friend, Oda. “Belladonna! You must be joking! open your eyes!! please… don’t die on me..” he cried, checking your pulse and heartbeat. And he didn’t feel or hear anything. He tried again and again trying to hear your heartbeat, he tried finding the warmth of your body, but it wasn’t there. “What happened to her…?” He asked the nurse, and she said she doesn’t know because she also just went in to check up on you because she heard a sound from your room. “Well??? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GET SOME FUCKING HELP!” Dazai screamed at the nurse, his voice was cracking. The nurse rushed to get some help and once she did, he had to wait outside for you. And when the doctor told him, “I’m sorry, she couldn’t make it. We tried our best.” “No. no. no. no. no NO!! You have to be joking. My wife is a strong woman. She cannot just die easily! She can’t just leave me!!” Was Dazai’s response. He ran into your room and looked at your body. It looked like it was so cold, and it was. There was no signs of warmth in your body. “Belladonna? Sweetheart?? Darling?? My love…? just wake up… please.. don’t leave me..” Dazai said and then held your hand. “I love you so much, [name]. I hope you’re in peace right now, so please forgive for what I have done to you. You deserve better.” He said as he was trying to accept the fact that you’re dead. That you killed yourself because of him. That you died because of him. That you got your heartbroken, by him. He doesn’t ever want to let you go, but he has to because you have to go. You were the light of his world, and now, his world darkened once again.

Notes I've taken from Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen

On the cover, it looks liked dazai and chuuya are both balancing on strands of Rimbaud's hair??

In the third full color illustration, chuuya's eyes look brown

Chuuya's hair is described as reddish brown

Dazai saying that he was gonna join a quit the PM and join rival organization. The next paragraph points out that he isn't even a member of the PM lmao

Also, "do you have any idea how much you've put me through this past year?" Like what? I sooooo wanna know abt dazai age 14

Mori and dazai are "bound by a common destiny"

"Dazai showed flashes of brilliance one moment, but the next moment, they were gone. As soon as he seemed to have it all figured out, he'd confuse everyone by talking about his bizarre, meaningless fascination with suicide." Excellent characterization note

Mori can disarm a bomb

"'Why do you want to die?' / Dazai seemed puzzled as he looked back at Mori, like he genuinely didn't understand the question. Then, eyes full of youthful innocence, he responded: / 'Let me ask you something instead: Do you truly believe there's value in living?'

Dazai involving Hirotsu (who he just met) in his self convo by telling him not to use a painful method next time hirotsu plans on killing himself. Hirotsu saying he'll... keep that in mind.

The fact that Chuuya's kick sends Dazai so far, despite the fact that Chuuya's gravity would disable upon impact, kinda proves my theory that Dazai's ability would not stop the momentum caused by Chuuya's ability in motion. This is later confirmed in another sentence

Happy Birthday to My Beloved Blorbo, Oda Sakunosuke! 🎉

this is the guy who

used to be an assassin at age 14

quit his job after reading a book and meeting its author (asagiri behavior btw - the 'left his job cause he wanted to write' part lol)

saw an injured dazai and brought him in his house (lit the equivalent of seeing a random injured criminal and knowingly bringing him into your house lol)

wrapped dazai in a blanket, trapped him in his house until he recovered safely

reacted to dazai's unhinged behavior and threats with an 'oh okay' attitude (unironically btw. he's really just like that TT)

was strong enough to be mistaken for a WHOLE organization

no one even had clues that it was him TT

made dazai embarrassed

“Of course, you would be wary of the switch. So, I had to distract you by conversation.”

“So, the games and the flow of conversation till now, were both according to your plan, you mean?”

“Hehe. Saying important things as a camouflage to get what you want. That is the basis of the negotiation technique.”

I ask as I organize the cards, “Which is camouflage of which?”

Dazai's expression turns blank for a second, as if he has been caught off guard. But it is only for a moment. He turns his head to the side to hide his expression and smiles. If I am not wrong, there is an embarrassed expression on his face. It is under the dark lighting of the bar, so I might have been mistaken though.

had a conversation with Shibusawa in Dead Apple and wasn't killed - in fact, Shibasawa even wanted to talk to him again if he had the chance (Oda TT he's got that 'I attract mentally unstable people and fix them' rizz lmao. Fyodor, take down notes).

did not expect Dazai to ask for a second meeting:

Dazai’s wounds have already crossed the most critical time. Just leave them like that and they will heal on their owns. My role here is over. So is our relationship.

Dazai nods and takes the cards from me. Then in a casual tone, he says those words.

“When are we meeting next?”

I stop what I am doing and look at Dazai.

despite the typical black-suit-shades look that low ranking mafiosos wore, Oda wore a BRIGHT COLORED, beige cream coat (do yall realize how much this must have made him stand out?? in a pool full of black - he stood out. Also the fact that mafiosos wear black so that blood isn't visible when it stains -- but Oda DECIDED TO STOP killing people hence why he didn't need to wear black. UgH such an icon ✨.)

survived the Dragon Heads Conflict (obviously 🙄)

adopted 5 orphans from that conflict

supported them financially, visited them on weekends, left them under the care of the curry-shop owner, connected w them!!!

managed a few shops for the mafia (reread Dark Era if you missed this detail; p. 94)

listener friend; listened to Dazai's antics and took them seriously (I bet he's the type who never forgets any minor detail their friend tells him)

joined in Dazai's chaos and hugged and tickled Ango (sibling behavior lol. Oda's just as chaotic - only difference is he does it with a straight face 😭 if Oda was in the ADA, Kunikida would grow white hair LOL. Imagine the chaos he and Dazai would bring TT - plus Dazai would be 10x happier. friendly reminder that Dazai gave Ango and Oda drugged food and when he offered to cook again, Oda's response was 'If it keeps you from getting tired, then it might be pretty useful before a hard day's work' like BRUH elfeofk.)

this isn't noticeable at first but despite always seeing himself as less than Dazai cause of their rank, Oda literally called Dazai by his name in front of the other mafia members (and no - he didn't even consciously think about it 😭). Imagine being a random mafioso and suddenly you see the lowest ranking member call an executive informally. like??? Oda's co-workers would call Dazai 'Dazai-san' while Oda be out there speaking casually like 'hey dude.' It's funny cause Oda is dense so he prob didn't even think of 'Office Codes' (yk the typical social rules where if ur friends w ur boss u call them formally at work? yea. Oda does not care LOL.)

He has good intuition

[Then I looked myself in my room and cycled through my thoughts [...] I listened only to my heartbeat as I observed the emotions bubbling up from within me like foam. I had a feeling something would happen[...]it was the small tinge everyone gets before something's about to happen. But realistically, there was virtually nothing I could do about it until it actually occurred and slapped me in the face. The world isn't kind. You have to be tough.] << relatable.

He sassed Mori HELP 😂😭

"At any rate, you just got here. You did not see a thing. Understand?"

"Yes, sir." I nodded in agreement. [...] "I only just arrived. Thank you for taking a break from undressing a young girl and chasing her around the room for me. So what was it you needed me for?"

The boss pinched his brows together for a few moments to think before nodding as if he had made up his mind. -- The Dark Era

He can see into the future

this is honestly a cool ability with so much potential. I'm going to promote this post by @raaanpo because why not. it's cool. :)

Such a caring friend (he gave Ango the benefit of the doubt, was crushed at the betrayal, and the way he thinks about dazai i cant- TT)

I already knew what Dazai was trying to say and what his intentions were and yet I had no choice but to scrutinize his every word to find some sort of silver lining.

"Maybe Ango really was lying but he's an informant who deals with top-secret information on the Mafia. It's only natural he'd have a secret meeting or two. You can't blame him for that"

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ango turn his back to me before leaving with the Special Forces. [...] My tongue numb, I called out to Ango as he left, but even I didn't know what I was saying. An indescribable feeling of loneliness was the only thing filling my heart...as if I were floating at the end of the universe. Even that was swallowed by darkness. "Dazai, stop" I begged in a hushed tone. [...]

"Dazai!" I screamed. I felt as though we were thousands of miles apart. [...]

"Sorry to shock you like that" (<< dazai's the one speaking here btw) [...]

Had our ranks or relations been any different, I probably would have punched him right then. (note: this reminds me of when Fukuzawa slapped Ranpo TT) However, I am me and there was nothing I could do to him.

After returning my gun to its holster, I turned my back to Dazai and began walking away. With every step I took, I felt as if the ground were going to collapse, creating a bottomless hole that I would fall through for an eternity. Dazai's expression as he placed his finger on his forehead and approached the enemy-- that of a child about to burse into tears--remained burned into my eyes. -- chap 1, DE

^^ it's giving friend-who-knows-you're-depressed-but-waits-for-you-to-tell-them energy like 😭😭bruh Oda knew. he knew dazai was depressed but he didn't push him about it. he just listened to any of dazai's ramblings and was there for him. ugh. Oda TT

Ango looked at us and continued, "If there ever comes a time when the Division and the Mafia no longer exist...if we're ever freed from the confines of our work...do you think we can drink here again like this?"

"Don't say any more, Ango" a voice said nearby. It was my voice. "Just don't." [...]

I figured that was probably the last time I would ever see him.

(I still maintain the belief that Oda only said this because he knew the tensions were high and Dazai literally just threatened to torture and kill Ango moments ago. That last line hurts, man.)

Insecure king

Even if I'd tried to hide it, Dazai would've been able to figure it out with just half a day's worth of research. -- p.56, DE

(says the guy who managed to hide the painting without anyone knowing. Ngl Dazai was kind of being a dick here TT).

Even if I took Ango's side there, nothing would change. (note: oda sweetie, you're starting to act like Dazai TT.) There was no way to break out of Dazai's trap around the bar's perimeter and the children would be killed if I betrayed the Mafia. --p.119, DE

^^ see what I'm talking about? tensions were high. it's not like Oda hated Ango. He just didn't want to escalate the situation. And plus, Oda's never been a false-hope type of guy. So when he rejected Ango's wish, it doesn't mean he hates him or doesn't want to be friends anymore. he's just protecting himself from getting his hopes up and being realistic. On another note, I think being in the Mafia def affected Oda negatively. He was much more confident in TDIPD. :(

Lost king

After getting into the car, I recklessly hightailed it to the office. I don't really remember much about what happened along the way; I might've driven down the three-lane highway in the wrong direction two or three times. -- chap 1, DE

If someone were to peer inside my mind at that moment, they would've witnessed something akin to a massive volcanic eruption. Countless question marks would have been blasting out of the crater, blanketing the sky in its entirety. And yet, the only visible reaction I had was a twitch of a finger. -- p.18, DE

I ended up standing in front of the son and introducing myself. As “the person who killed your father.” There was no word that could describe how angry the son was. He had all the rights to be angry. [...] He was hitting me, throwing stuff at me, and attacking me with all sorts of insults. I could easily dodge all of his attacks, but there was no way to avoid the insults.

When he became exhausted from all the rampage and finally sat down, I explained to him about the killing. After that, he demanded a compensation. For his father’s life, and for the rental fee of that book I took without permission. -- TDIPD

(bruh. Oda's wildin 😭 pulled up at the front door and said 'yeah I killed your father' like DJFWEIJF. If Oda became an author, he would def be openly weird like the author of chainsaw man and he'd be the type to share life lore w his fans despite it being illegal😭:

'Oda! I'm a big fan! I have a question. Did you ever kill a person? Why is your writing so good at capturing that stuff?'

I'm willing to bet good money he would actually answer that question honestly.

(Oda stop being so relatable...)

Was a good mentor to Akutagawa in BEAST LN (lit trained him, was okay w his antics, and was willing to go against the Mafia for him. Dazai who? Akutagawa was WAY more stable with Oda as his mentor 😭)

"How are you earning enough to take care of them?" (<< Aku asking)

"That's a secret." Oda let out a faint, almost inaudible laugh.

What I needed to do now, however, was worry about the new recruit, since he was a hundred times more messed up in the head than me.

Dazai walked over with a faint, indecipherable smile. "I've been training Atsushi for four and a half years, yet you beat him. It's hard to believe..." (uhm duh. that's cause he was trained by Oda 🙄💅who doesn't abuse his students unlike y-)

"Akutagawa, it was actually Oda who obtained this video," said Tanizaki who was seated. "Even with Ranpo's Super Deduction and Oda's extraordinary skill, Flawless [...], it took them three whole days to sneak into the secret facility and steal the footage. That just shows you how extremely dangerous the mission was and how hard it was to get this information."

That was when it hit Akutagawa. He had just recently been asked to watch over the orphans for three days while Oda was out of town on business.

I urge yall to please read Dark Era and The Day I Picked Up Dazai. It captures his character way more than the anime.

To end this post, I want to give tribute to the IRL! Oda Sakunosuke cause that's who the bsd character is based from and Oct 26 is his actual birthday 😸

Literally, my thoughts throughout the whole chapter were "what the fuck" on different levels/degrees, and by the end of it, I was in shock and then it all hit me about five minutes ago lmao.

Fyodor's ability is seemingly able to kill people upon immediate contact. (Which is probably why he made Sigma's ability also through touch idk man lmao) And Sigma is not dead !!! (fucking praying) it's genuinely just the sheer amount of information he received from Fyodor; that shit was a LOT. He inquired about EVERY SINGLE SECRET that he had; bro, this is fucking Fyodor that we're talking about; that's a long-ass list. Anyways, so I genuinely just think it's like what happened to Atsushi; Sigma's ability is to take information from people, so he's a lot more used to an influx of info in his mind than Atsushi is; however, this was a shit ton of info for him to take in, it's going to take a while to process all of that. (Also his first thought being to tell the Agency AH I can't- also does this mean that Fyodor's plans maybe involve the Agency even more? Man I don't know lmao)

Next, Aya is so slay I hate her dad fr fr lmao xoxo She's so important to the story and I love it. Also, convenient hole there Akutagawa. Anyways xoxo so, we see a lot of humanity still emanating from Aku, so this is very good.

Right, now, I don't know about you, but this really doesn't sound very Dazai to me. I don't know, it was my first thought upon reading it. Like yeah of course he'd mock Chuuya; but has he ever called him weak? And like I don't know just the phrasing doesn't sound like him. Also, his shit-eating grin just makes me piss. Also, the fact that this gets a reaction from Chuuya like it would if he were human. Instead of acting on Fyodor's orders, he goes to punch Dazai after being provoked; also, I don't know about you, but a punch from Chuuya, no matter how hard he hits (he can't use gravity also) wouldn't kill Dazai. Chuuya is going to punch Dazai out of anger and infuriation at him mocking him; not because Fyodor has ordered him to.

ALSO, we don't see Dazai's face here, and he's not smiling anymore, but also he isn't moving away from Chuuya? I don't know maybe I'm dumb lol.

Also, another thing?

Like, dog connotations between SKK are fucking rampant, Dazai always calling Chuuya his dog, etc. The phrasing here gets me interested lol.

Then the "...Darn." from Dazai. What's with the pause? Idk, maybe I'm just overanalysing lol.

What's with the sigh? Any right-minded person (considering that it's Dazai we're talking about, maybe not the best phrasing) wouldn't just sigh when they have a gun pulled on them? Also, what the fuck is with the gun being so bright or smoky I can't tell?

In the fifteen LN, they defeat Randou and the old boss by Chuuya wrapping streamers around himself and hiding it underneath his clothes whilst Dazai held onto it from the other end of the room, and the streamers protected him from Randou's attacks, I THINK. And I THINK that this may mean if the gun touches Dazai's head, then maybe...? I really don't know, I'm clutching at mega straws here but it's just what I thought when I first read it.

Also, what does Fyodor mean by the "With this... there's no need to worry." About what? Dazai, like, having an extra plan? I really don't know.

But also, his eyes are genuine. They're determined, and they're real. I can't explain lol anyways. Onto the main fucking attraction here.

LMAO I just got the most random ass theory in my head; what if Chuuya turned that time-stopping girl into a vampire and she's using her ability for something LMAO THAT'S FOUL my brain is actually so dumb.

There are too many unanswered questions, too many routes that this could stray down if he does. What about the Agency? What about Atsushi and Aku? What about Chuuya? The PM? Ango? Not to be all "Dazai cannot die he's too important" but yeah, I am going to be all like that. Anyways lol. My point was that the "goodbye" here, MAYBE this is "Operation Goodbye" coming into play. I WILL STAND BY THIS THEORY UNTIL MY FUCKING GRAVE. Which will be a very early one depending on the outcome of the next fucking chapter. But yeah, maybe this is the reason it's called that, and Chuuya will hear this, or even Dazai, and it's like a signal. Also, fuck off if you think that I'll believe Dazai is dead; he got shot in the head at point blank, and still had the energy to smile and be like "Aw yeah I love this" like bruh. Also, maybe Chuuya shot Dazai in the side and the shoulder before and after he shot him in the head so that Fyodor thinks "Oh, he's definitely dead." And Dazai has made sure that the second round in that gun is a blank or it's fucking paint and he replaced it fucking ages ago, whether with the time-stopping ability or he gave Chuuya the gun before he ever even GOT into Meursault, bro I really don't know. I'm sticking by my paint theory and that the bullet in that specific magazine thing is a little paintball. Dazai can literally canonically send himself into cardiac arrest and come back out of that; he did it to Atsushi in 55 minutes when Atsushi scared him. Anyways.

In the camera footage looking one, we see him with both his legs folded and like almost cross-legged with his hands clasped together inside his legs, the same when Aya is pushing the table. I'm sure we've seen people get shot in the head in this series before and if we haven't, I'll be very fucking shocked. Also, the black around Chuuya's eyes is easing; it's lesser. And also I said this as soon as I saw him, but he doesn't have the veins under his eyes anymore. He just looks a lot more human than he did before.

Dazai, having been almost drowned/set on fire/suffocated/poisoned, ALSO THE LETHAL POISON THAT IS IN HIS AND FYODOR'S BODIES, WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THAT? LMAO. Anyways, so, Dazai, having been almost drowned/set on fire/suffocated/poisoned, then fell in an elevator and literally almost died as he apparently crawled through the hallway or something, then got shot in the shoulder by Chuuya, only to be apparently shot in the head and killed and shot in the side and the other shoulder. Maybe the bullets are antidotes lmao anyways. So, Dazai, apparently dead. Fukuzawa, having his throat sliced and also apparently, supposedly dead. Atsushi, not supposedly dead, but supposedly about to die, and is certainly in a dangerous situation; someone mentioned on a post I saw before that they feel as if this is building up for the three SKK generations working together, and I agree! Mori hasn't really been seen much; I feel as if he's going to turn up soon. Aku is of course going to either die after Aya rips the sword out or HOPEFULLY just go back to being human; same with Chuuya. I feel as if all of this is somehow planned. I feel like Tanizaki is going to turn up with light snow and the president is actually fine, and the One Order that Fukuchi has isn't real, and Fukuzawa slipped the page from him or something. Because, Tanizaki is literally behind them with Kunikida I think it was? Also, Kenji and Tecchou? Teruko? Where's Jouno? Where's Tachihara? What about the PM members that got turned? What about whatever the fuck Dazai has planned? Bro, I'm so scared but I actually cannot wait.

LMAO I am going to PISS MYSELF laughing if it just yanks Bram off the building and flings him. LMAO IT JUST FLINGS HIM OVER TO MEURSAULT LMAO.

But yeah no. So. I am insane. I am clinically unwell. That chapter fucked me up; but we've been getting fed GOOD the past two months fr. This has given me so much SKK angst fic ideas holy shit. Asagiri and Harukawa both just cured my fucking writer's block with one chapter.

Also! Something else I saw was somebody saying how similar Fyodor's mental ass fucking scene was with Dazai's and it honestly is! Fyodor getting shot in his left shoulder first, then Dazai in his right, then his left.

Now, just a thing of note; in Christianity and stuff, the left side is usually representative of evil and Satan, whereas the right side is associated with Righteousness and goodwill. Bro, I had this shit drilled into me as a kid, left was bad and right was good. It's just very interesting to me that Fyodor was shot in his left shoulder; representative of evil, and Dazai was shot in the side that it supposed to represent goodness and all things pure, really lmao. Maybe I'm just looking too deep into this, but I found it pretty intriguing.

Anyways, my main point was how similar the scenes are; they're both playing characters that are opposite to their true selves. Though, to be honest, it's a bit of a weird one/situation because we don't actually KNOW their true selves lmao.

Anyways! This is way too long, I'm going to carry on my SKK angst with my newfound absolute shit mood bro this shit fueled me but has actually destroyed me.

heya!

six months. jesus, that's a while. at least, a while to not have lost focus. and i'm still kicking! sooo~, as a little thanks for sticking around with my silly little story, there's a few things i want to share! :3

1) splinters of madness is not just one story :3c

if you've been paying attention recently, you may have noticed a slight change on ao3 where i added splinters to a series. that's because there's a lot more stories i want to tell that both add and contrast to what's going on in the main story. for example, a little more backstory on fyodor and nikolai's friendship (or complication, depending on how you want to look at it), a darkest timeline two-shot, and nikolai's play rehearsals! perhaps, we can get to know chuuya's brother a little better before he passes from his point of view!

these are definitely not all of the additional content im planning, but it's some that you can look forward to!

2) things that were supposed to happen... and then, uh, didn't

i tend to complain quite a bit about things going awry when im writing splinters (well, not complain, but ykw i mean), and there's a few things that just, was planned and then the characters went "lmao, fuck you". so! here's a few of them!

Dazai drags Chuuya into a hug, getting a surprised yelp out of him. “After all, we’re friends, and friends listen to each other.”

Chuuya’s stiff for a few seconds before he melts into the hug, and his arms wrap around Dazai, too.

“Right… friends.”

His fingers stray into Dazai’s hair, his fingers tangling around the locks, and Dazai gives a surprised gasp as Chuuya yanks at it. “But… what if I want to be more than friends?” he whispers into his ear, his breath hot against it.

“Wh-what?”

Dazai shudders and tilts his head up as a wet tongue slides up his neck, finishing its trail with a kiss. “You heard me, Dazai Osamu. What if I want to… date you?”

He can’t help but laugh nervously at that. “D-date me? Chuuya needs higher expectations—”

Chuuya pulls him out of the hug into a dip, Dazai’s hands frantically moving to clutch on for security. Chuuya smirks down at him. “What if I want to make you mine?”

“Chuuya, I—”

“What if I want… to kiss you?”

Dazai gasps, his face red and heated. “Ch-Chuuya…”

Chuuya grins as he lowers closer and closer to Dazai’s lips, his lashes fluttering as his eyes become half-lidded. Dazai feels himself closing his own eyes, his lips pursing for the kiss…

And when his eyes open again, it’s to the ceiling of his room, his sleep mask having slipped off at some point in the night.

“Jesus fucking christ.”

With a grumble, Dazai flips to his side, kicking off the remnants of his blankets—most of them had gotten kicked around anyways during his sleep—and lays there, gazing at his desk, where two books sit. One, of course, is the one he puts most of his deepest thoughts in, sitting opened with the bookmark in, his pen and monocle lying next to it. The other is Atsushi’s weird white novel, which—

“Ah, shit…” he groans, pushing his face into the mattress.

Atsushi was supposed to pick up his book yesterday. But Dazai wasn’t home, because he decided to have the dinner-from-hell with his not-crush and his not-crush’s father. So, Atsushi wasn’t able to get it despite having asked for it.

Am I the worst friend ever or what?

I should go over to my desk and hit my head as hard as I can into the corner.

Fuck!

Dazai slowly slides out of his bed onto the floor, landing on top of various clothes, including… including Kunikida’s green sweatshirt. He awkwardly manipulates it out from underneath him before holding it up above him, sighing as he gazes at it.

“Katai probably would like you now,” he murmurs, running his fingers over the cuffs in circular motions. The fabric feels soft, smooth from age under the pads of his thumbs, and Dazai knows if he smelled it, it would still have that whiff of Kunikida’s cologne and deodorant on it. And the thing is, maybe he should give it to Kunikida. Or give it directly to Katai.

But he doesn’t want to. He “stole” it from Kunikida, therefore, it’s his. And it’s not like Kunikida has asked for it back. Though, perhaps he doesn’t remember that Dazai has it. But that’s not the point.

Yeah, Kunikida’s not getting this back, and Katai isn’t getting it, either. It’s Dazai’s, whether Kunikida knows it or not.

He glances towards his desk once more, trying to ignore thoughts of… unpleasant thoughts—

Hit your head. Impale. Smash it into the corner. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it.

For fuck’s sake.

I want to write.

Hit your head. Hit it. Hit it against the corner. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it.

“I am losing my mind.” With a frustrated hiss, Dazai pushes himself to his feet, and tiredly stumbles towards his desk, his hand gripping the corner tightly so he can’t see it anymore. He shoves himself past it, then flops into the seat, picking up the pen, and starting a new entry.

Dear Diary,

October 12, 1989

I sure love thinking about killing myself. It’s my favorite.

Anyways, had a dream about Chuuya. Wonderful. I dreamed that last night, instead of us just saying goodbye, he kissed me.

He stops writing for a second, sighing as he presses his fingers sadly to his lips.

Well, almost. He almost kissed me. He was so fucking close. We almost kissed. But it’s not romantic, of course. I think about kissing my friends all the time.

Hell, I’ve thought about kissing Kunikida. Thinking about Chuuya like this isn’t any different. This isn’t romantic. I am not in denial.

Dazai smacks his head into his diary, groaning. “Fuuuck.”

Not in denial. Nope. Not in denial. I am so not in denial. Why would I be in denial? Boys kissing boys—it doesn’t have to be romantic! No! And it’s not because I think I’m not gay—I am, but not for them! It’s different! It’s totally different!

Hirotsu was called into the medical ward, a rare sight but not a particularly odd one, and seeing as how a certain ginger just came back from a mission he knew why he was called in. “Fuck off! get that shit away from me!” Hirotsu opened the door, Chuuya was the only one in the infirmary, but he was making quite the fight. “Thank you lads, you can move to the next patient, i can handle him.” Hirotsu eyed the boy with analytical eyes, loosening his posture when the door closed behind him. “Was Ane-san busy?” Chuuya spat out while glaring at the man. Hirotsu sighed and gathered the supplies and sat at chuuya’s side. “She’s on a mission i’m afraid, But i was given permission to clean your wounds no?” Hirotsu knew that chuuya hated getting medical attention, he only let Kouyou, dazai and rarely himself tend to him, and let was a strong word, it usually involves a few bruises, cries and panic attacks. Chuuya scoffed at hirotsu. building up his walls and hiding the worst of his injuries. “Chuuya you know i do have to tend to you right? Kouyou-sama will be a bit harsh if she finds out you got an infection.”

Hirotsu held out both his hands to the small boy, replacing his cloth gloves with clean hands. “I’m going to clean your arms alright? it’s just water my boy.” Hirotsu carefully grabbed the cloth towel and dipped it into a bowl of water, lightly scrubbing at the crusted blood. Chuuya hissed at the feeling, pulling away all he could, barely keeping up his mask of strength. hirotsu lightly rubbed at his hand as chuuya’s nails digging into his palm. “Hiro-san no- stop- let me-.” Chuuya’s first tear fell, his glossy eyes welling up, he barely reacted to the pain, more so reaction came from the idea of medical attention itself. chuuya moved as far away as he could from his arm pulling back as much as he could as Hirotsu lightly scrubbed the blood away. “It’s alright Lad, i’ve got you, you’re alright.” Chuuya curled in on himself. pulled back into the corner of the medical bed. Hirotsu rubbed at the cleaned arm, wrapping it up to hide the thousands of cuts, no doubt caused by glass. “hey we got one arm done, can i see the other one or your face please?” Chuuya shook his head viciously pulling his now bandaged arm back into himself. “Chuuya, i have to clean you up lad, it’s either your face or your other arm i’m afraid.” Chuuya glared at the older man with red glassy eyes, his face all scrunched up and red with too much fear for a 19 year old boy. Hirotsu held out his arm for the other, letting Chuuya hold onto it as he held up the cloth to his face. “Just water okay my boy?” Chuuya whined at the touch, squeezing Hirotsu a bit too tightly for a normal boy, Activating his ability to anchor himself. increasing his own weight. “Is For the Tainted Sorrow helping you through this?” Hirotsu spoke in a soft voice, not expecting an answer. Chuuya shrugged and winced at the pain. Hirotsu hummed a soft tune, a familiar lullaby to calm the boy. “There we go Chuuya, All done for your face, just your arm left no?” Hirotsu ruffled chuuya’s hair warmly, giving the ginger a soft, empathetic smile as he worked, Chuuya had completely shut down, only making small noises and not trusting himself to speak.

Hirotsu went to clean the other arm aswell, there wasn’t any cuts needed of stitches thankfully, but this still wasn’t over. Hirotsu cleaned his bloodied knuckles softly, small downwards motions as chuuya’s fingers twitched, chuuya must’ve felt a spark of energy because he started to push hirotsu away, whining at the older man and sobbing uncontrollably, trying to push him away and stop the feeling. “Hey hey, It’s alright i’m here, you’re not in danger my boy, you’re in the Port mafia’s infirmary, you’re alright.” Hirotsu put down the cloth and held chuuya’s hands softly. Chuuya in a far too broken and distrustful voice let out a shaky sob. “you won’t hurt me…?” chuuya squeezed Hirotsu’s hands tightly, watching him with wet, red eyes. the blue and brown tracking Hirotsu’s frame cautiously. “No, no my boy i would never hurt you.” Chuuya nodded and loosened his grip, letting hirotsu go back to cleaning. Hirotsu cleaned the rest of his arm with no worry, quickly gettting the ginger a glass of water when he finished. “There, all clean no?” Chuuya had his arms wrapped in white bandages, and a few bandaids on his face. “…These aren’t the bandages osamu uses…” Hirotsu’s expression softened, it was no surprise that Dazai’s disappearance affected the boy, but he didn’t know it was this bad. “I’m sorry kid, hey if you remember what he used i can pick some up for you and keep them here, just for you okay?” Hirotsu smiled softly. chuuya nodded and yawned. “can you drop me off at my apartment? i need to sleep.” Hirotsu chuckled softly and picked the boy up, letting him doze against himself. he wouldn’t let whatever haunted this boy touch him again, he would protect those that trusted himself, no matter the cost.

Anyways i only now finished reading svs because i’ve been putting it off in favour of reading different fics (works from other fandoms and… ooc soukoku fics. Listen i hate mischaracterisation as much as the next guy but i find them very entertaining okay) and AAAUURGGHH WHAT A BANGER. The way you write is immaculate if svs was a food it’d have a savoury taste like i’d be liking my fingers n shit. I found out about it when you posted on twitter you updated it (it was the smut chapter, by the way) and i was like “huh” and decided to read it and my god am i glad I didn’t skip over that tweet.

Idk if this was on purpose or not but verlaine is kinda cringefail in your fic and i love it. I am a firm believer that as badass as verlaine is he is undeniably embarrassing and i need MORE of that.

My one criticism for svs is that we needed more adam scenes. He should have been added like really, unnecessarily early on in the fic and act as a third wheel in the fic. But like a third wheel soukoku did not want or ask for but he’s just kinda there they can’t really get rid of him. I have no idea how long chuuya’s hair is supposed to be like idk if it’s “yeah his hair is a little longer than it is in canon haha” or “yeah mf got some LONG ass hair looking like rapunzel”. Also I don’t remember if his lil ribbon was red or blue but.. i jus went with blue and i didn’t know if the pearls were supposed to be like on his head or woven into his braid so i just went with the latter. Head empty, just sitting in silent deep understanding :’) these gacha games have no right to invoke this much emotion in me yet still they do 😔 what makes it worse is that I heard they don’t rerun collab events, so I have to leave it all up to chance when it comes to getting Steven again. (+) I’ve tried to console myself by appreciating some good ol fanart and looking up Steven plushies, which I can say for a fact I desire more than a Hawks plush. Sorry Keigo 😔 every manga is a phase, but Pokémon will never be. It ALWAYS drags me back. Maybe he will too one day, but not today! (For this, I’ll expand more with some Masters lore later because it’s freaking hilarious I love this dork I hope you’re okay with me simping in your askbox for like the next month lmao 🥺 🥺 🥺) and just for the LOLs 😂 you could look up MMD Hoenn Trumpets for Steven playing a trumpet in Cynthia’s face, (and there’s one of her playing her Piano of doom too.)

Gacha games always tempt you with banners to pull on even though you need to save for your favourites. I made that mistake in the BSD mobile game and wasted a lot of my gacha currency on cards I'm not all that interested in 😔 I've learned now and only spend it on cards I want (mostly Dazai).

God, I get that though. When you don't get what you want yet so you consume fandom art and collectables instead but even then it's not the same... Is there any good steven plushies out there? I-...okay so I did a scenario, but then read the prompt and saw that it was supposed to be headcanons-...but I already wrote it so-

"I won't set fire to anything!" Dazai whines into the phone, as he looks for the right key on the keyring. "No, Y/N...yes I promise!" He finds the key and shoves it into the lock, opening the door with a click.

"You wound me, darling! After all theses year, I can't believe I haven't earned your trust!" He kicks the door shut behind him. He had been sent to grab something from Y/N's apartment while she was working. A certain jacket she needed for a meeting later on. She had made it clear to her boyfriend that he was in no way the first person she had asked, instead being somewhat of a last resort.

"The last time you were in my apartment alone, you managed to break a clock and set the couch of fire." Her voice sounds tinny over the speaker and a little muffled. "How did you manage to-"

"You should be used to the unexpected by now." He cuts her off, moving into the living room, where she had apparently draped the clothing over one of the couches.

"That was more than unexpected! It was-...Osamu? Osamu?!"

She doesn't get to finish her sentence, because right then, a scream echoes from the other end of the line.

She tries calling out for him, but there's no answer. That was...mildly concerning.

Dazai meanwhile, has locked himself in Y/N's bedroom, back against the door. From the other side, scratching and barking is heard.

He hadn't expected this. He had missed this. Sure he's known she was always fond of dogs, she cooed at the ones at parks, gushed at cute dog videos...but this...he hadn't predicted this.

She never mentioned she owned a-a mini demon! he debates what to do. On one hand, he could probably win against a fight with the thing, but he doubts Y/N would be happy. He could exit through the window in her room, but then he had no way of grabbing her jacket since the dog was still outside.

Right when he's about to decide to stay put, he hears the doorknob jiggle. Shuffling away from it, he watches as the door opens and Y/N, bless her soul, comes in, looking at him, worried.

"Osamu! What happened?” She says crouching down in front of him.

“You-...There’s a mutt in your house!” Dazai exclaims

“A...mutt?” She asks, still very confused. He seemed okay, unharmed. “What are you-...oh! You mean Daisy?” She tilts her head.

As if on command, Dazai hears footsteps or...well, pawsteps? running towards the room. He barely has time to leap onto the bed, before it enters the room.

The dog, a small chihuahua, looks up at him with it’s beady, evil eyes and barks at him. Y/N chuckles and reaches over, taking the-the demon into her arms and it immediately calms down.

“I adopted her a couple weeks ago...I thought I told you.” She looks at him, petting the dog.

“You didn’t! You very much didn’t let your boyfriend of 4 years know you where harbouring a small demon! You practically sent me to my death!” Dazai exclaims, flopping down onto his back, dramatically huffing.

“That’s a little dramatic. She won’t hurt you.” She lifts the dog up like a baby, “You won’t, right Daisy?” She talks in a high pitched voice, that is admittedly slightly adorable. She giggles as the dog barks and licks cheek affectionally.

Dazai rolls over to his side, back to Y/N. “Warn me next time, maybe!” He sighs. She looked happy, and if she was happy...well, Dazai could get over it. Probably.
