Anyone else desperate to know what the "Water" in "Trafalgar D. Water Law" means?
We know — roughly — what the deal with the "D" is and why Law's parents would've told him to keep it a secret, but...
It's not just the initial "D" that he kept hidden.
His full name is Trafalgar D. Water Law, but he publicly goes by just "Trafalgar Law" — not "Trafalgar Water Law".
Why is he hiding the "Water" bit?!
I need to know...!

hey so... [one piece spoilers for Elders and Weapons]
....One Piece started in 1997, when Pluto was a considered a planet.
The Five Elders are "Gorōsei" in Japanese, which leads the exact trnaslation to be Five Elder Stars, but this can also be read as Five Elder Planets, which leads into their names.
Tumblr media
Saturn, Mars, Warcury, Shepherd Ju Peter (Jupiter) and... and Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro (V... nasu. Venus. Shoutout to the wiki trivia section)
So that's 5 out of nine planets. I'm thinking about this because I heard a theory on one of those videos that there was originally just one Ancient Weapon and Oda added three more because he was told he could keep the series going as long as he could keep it going after Alabasta. And that sounded kind of wrong to me but I couldn't place it until someone mentioned Pluton and the Gorōsei in one sentence together. We have five Gorōsei and three named weapons, at least one of which is a living person.
Mercury - Warcury Venus - V Nasjuro Mars - Marcus Mars Saturn - Jaygarcia Saturn Jupiter - Shepherd Ju Peter Uranus - Weapon Uranus Neptune - Weapon Poseidon Pluto - Weapon Pluton Which if they're all planets leaves room left for the fourth, unnamed weapon. I think that's about what can be definitively said. So what I'm saying next is speculation I guess. All Ancient Weapons are people ("Poseidon is a warship!" CLEARLY ships can be people) and the weapons were the rulers of their respective kingdoms. One Piece spends a lot of time discussing Might Making Right and the responsibility of leaders to protect their underlings, so the ruler being the country's most powerful weapon isn't so strange. In the Void Century, five of the nine rulers were influenced by Something to overthrow the other four and created the modern world government and celestial dragons. Earth is not necessarily considered a celestial body, which would usually leave us one weapon short. But Gorōsei doesn't mean 'planet' specifically. It means 'star.' The final ruler is Joyboy, The Sun.

This is your daily reminder that the "weapon of mass destruction" Crocodile is after is
In fact
A ship
And if that isn't the most piratey thing, I don't know what is. My man over there insisting piratey dreams are for fools and children, but all the while-

If we ever drag that thing from under the mountain, and we don't get a "stop blowing holes in my ship" reference, I am going to be upset and make it happen in my fanfic, so help me god.

I love how Luffy, Law and Kidd split up after their efforts on Wano and the following happens.
Kidd ends up at Elbaf and tries to pick a fight with Shanks who BODIES him with ONE hit. ONE! Then his ship gets wrecked by two giants (Not even a fight, just decimated). Killer and Him didnt even get to see Shank's face. Their ship named after their crush... destroyed. RIP
Law ends up Jumped by BlackBeard and his crew (and considering him and bepo hard carry the crew) put up a decent fight though they lost. (Blackbeard had 4 of his commanders with him at the time). So Law losing is kind of expected. (We know who carried in the fight with Big Mom)
Luffy ends up on Egghead island fighting Pacifistas and Seraphim while CP0 shows up and Kizaru with a F***ing member of the Gorosai are in tow. And HE is the one that happens to be doing the best right now.
So the lesson here is that Kidd and Law should have kept that Alliance with Luffy and stayed in the safe Bosom of the strawhat Pirates
(Luffy in any of their situations would have been MUCH better off. Unsure if he and the crew could of Beaten blackbeard, but they probably would have escaped or made Blackbeard retreat.)
(Law and his crew would have been smart enough NOT to mess with Shanks and likely would have been fine. I think Law would have probably would have avoided trouble on Egghead, his Awakened Devil fruit would have given him and the crew a chance to escape.)
(Kidd was basically doomed in all situations. While i think he could probably match Lucci or at least be on par with him. I doubt he could have handled the Seraphim)

One piece chapter 1098 spoilers
Ugh. I think I would have rather had a break this week than next week. A Break on this chapter? No bueno.
Plus oda clearly needed it.
This isn’t going to be reactions, more theory I came up with reacting to the chapter.
Anyway. Jewlery bonny has a fatal disease. Or rather she had a fatal disease. She clearly doesn’t anymore.
Here’s my bet. Kuma pushes becori away.
Dragon said he would get kuma in contact with every doctor. Dragon knows vegapunk. Kuma goes to see vegapunk and vegapunk tells him “he can’t cure it, but you can”
Tells him he can push the disease out and into something else. Kuma refuses because that would mean killing someone. Vegapunk also mentions that kuma would be an excellent person to make into a cyborg. Kuma also refuses. (This is that one time bonny visited egghead she mentioned)
Then king becori shows up again, fucks shit up. Tells kuma he’ll always come back, no matter where you send me.
Kuma pushes Bonny’s disease into king becori, killing him. Kuma’s one atrocity that gets spun into him committing every atrocity ever.
Kuma becomes king of sorbet. Maybe he already was king after pushing becori away, idk. Sorbet kingdom is beset by problems all around. The world government offers “help”, but kuma refuses, because like, it’s the world government. His people don’t understand though and he becomes known as a tyrant.
The government invades, deposes kuma, reinstates the old family (I guess becori’s mother? Queen dowager Connie from the reviere who bonny disguised herself as. I honestly don’t know what up with that, why bonny was a spitting image of her, maybe the guards just dumb.)
Kuma is sent to vegapunk who is forced to make him a cyborg. Bonny is sent to the marines to be taken care of (akainu mentioned she escaped).
Kuma becomes a warlord because vegapunk assures them that “with this chip he’s perfectly loyal to the WG”
Then Saboady happens and the government realizes that was a fucking lie, and vegapunk is forced to finish the job for good. Kuma pushes out his memories and they are sealed in a science room made of science that the bubble can’t escape.
In the present kuma pushes out all the pain and damage he accrued during his romp in marijois, and gives it all to Saturn. It either does or doesn’t work, my money says it doesn’t. (We’ve been told a major incident happened but them just escaping with vegapunk out from under everyone’s nose would suffice, a whole elder doesn’t have to die.)
either way the straw hats flee. Giant ancient robot that woke up takes the place of vegapunk’s robot, and their plan to escape goes off with only a few minor bumps.
Oh and also the fleet shows up at egghead. Luffy’s vivre card burnt up when he died in wano, didn’t come back, but luffy still chilling? An emperor now? Since they can’t follow the vivre card anymore they had to wait until they intercepted a marine broadcast saying luffy was on egghead.
They hold the fleet back while the straw hats and vegapunk and bonny flee to elbaf. Where shanks and his fleet is. Luffy is gonna approach shanks with his entire fleet behind him.
We were promised a battle royale weren’t we?
This is longer than I expected. I’m very likely wrong about a couple of things, but this is basically how I think the rest of egghead goes.
(My biggest gripe is time. Becori kinda has to die at the start of next chapter for the timeline to make sense imo
Tl:dr: basically a lot of events I think will happen.
Kuma pushes Bonny’s disease.
Kuma isn’t a tyrant that’s just rumours and propaganda.
Kuma plans to push all his damage into Saturn.
The giant robot that woke up a few chapters ago will help the straw hats escape.
The straw hat fleet shows up at egghead.
They follow luffy to elbaf where shanks and his fleet are.
Battle royale to come.

How Ohara Foreshadowed the Ancient Weapons and the Cult of Nika
Part 1: The Solar System
It is my opinion that the Ancient Kingdom, the Ancient Weapons, and Nika’s connection to it all was foreshadowed in the Ohara flashback. In this post we’ll go through some background information and evidence, then onto my personal theory of the matter.  This got a bit big, so I’ve split it into 3 main parts.
First of all, many people have noticed that these symbols are very similar:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Plus many more throughout the story) They are 8 circles around a central circle, sometimes with other stuff added around it, like the Kozuki crest or the cross. For now, I will be focusing on the circles.
Now, Moving onto this scene from the Ohara flashback and the model of the One Piece World, which is another example of similar imagery.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, there are only 7 satellites around the central planet (Counting the satellite of a satellite)that we can see. Most people assumed they were moons, but with the introduction of the minks and moon cycles, I don’t think that is it. The next popular theory is that of a geocentric model of the solar system.
I instead propose that it is neither, but instead an Orrery.
As Wikipedia states, “An orrery is a mechanical model of the Solar System that illustrates or predicts the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons, usually according to the heliocentric model.” It is used to show the position of the planets in the night sky, to track time, and predict astrological events such as solar and lunar eclipses. The current model is primarily based on Benjamin Martin Orrery , but a version of it was created during Ancient Greece and is considered one of the first analogue computers.
Here is an example that resembles the one from Ohara:
Tumblr media
Now there is something I find odd about the Ohara model, however.
Tumblr media
(Behold my shitty editing skills)
There are 7 planets but 5 orbits.  1 and 2 are on the yellow orbit, 3 and 7 are on the red, 4 and 5 are on the purple, and 6 is on the blue. But there is none on the green. I propose that there is, or once was, an 8th planet that would have been on the green orbit. Or the green is just a wire to keep the others in place. In that case, the 8th planet would be on the blue, since the blue is the only one with a single planet on its orbit.  Either  way, there is a  missing planet that is either hidden on the other side of this model that we can’t see, or it was destroyed.
In our world, our solar system consists of 8 planets, but when Oda started, it had 9. Therefore, I think the One Piece universe had 9 planets, but one was destroyed.  And I do think that the archaeologists know about it, most likely through ancient texts/models. But they know that that planet is gone.
And I think this is what is behind the common symbol of a central circle surrounded by 8 smaller ones, it is a model of the solar system as seen by the main planet. And it is a representation of not only the Sun, but of the Solar System, the planets that circle the sun. Nika is not only the sun god, but he is the god of the solar system.
Additionally, there are 9 Rio Poneglyphs that are meant to reveal the history of the void century. Why nine? Is it one for each of the planets in the solar system? 8 squares around a central square. We see this motif again, but this time with different shapes, and of the poneglyphs that are meant to reveal the true history.
Tumblr media
TLDR: The model we see in Ohara is neither a geometric model of the universe or showing that there are seven moons, but instead it is an Orrery, a model of the solar system as it relates to a central planet in order to predict astrological events. The Ohara model may indicate that there is a missing 9th planet in the solar system. And the circular motif that keeps popping up is representative of the planets in the solar system as well as the sun because Nika is not only the sun god, but the god of the solar system.
So, what happened to the 9th planet?

a One Piece theory hit me like a ton of bricks last night, i posted about it on the subreddit, but the brain geniouses over there were not exactly a TON of help. so i’m gonna throw it out here too. it’s been a while since i’ve seen a lot of the series so i could also have some details wrong. major manga spoilers and possible ending theory incoming
the Gum Gum fruit IS the One Piece. the One Piece has literally been inside Luffy all along. here’s my reasoning:
the Nika fruit essentially turns the user into Joyboy
Roger called the last island “Laugh Tale,” which implies to me that it was both a) not what he expected to find and b) part of Joyboy’s legacy
the fruit was so dangerous to the government that they covered up its existence by renaming it and had a Cipher Pol agent protecting it
there was an 8-year gap between Roger’s execution and the Gum Gum theft, which would give the government ample time to find Raftel if they’re using their special ships to cross the Calm Belt
Who’s Who, the person who was in charge of guarding the Gum Gum fruit, is also the person who first mentions the name Nika
and the most important piece of evidence:
it’s the type of shit Oda would find extremely funny
feel free to tell me if i’m totally off base here, it wouldn’t be my first crackpot theory. but it makes a lot of things line up for me

One Piece Chapter 1095 Spoilers
What if the secret that Ivankov has against Crocodile has to do with God Valley. Crocodile would be around 8 and could’ve been a slave. Though he has nicer clothing than Kuma when they were kids. Maybe he was a god valley citizen?

In light of my live-blogging #1088 comment on the One Piece and (the meaning of) freedom.
I don't know if this constitutes proof.
BUT - the amount of One Piece x Pirates of the Caribbean music-mashes out there surely means something?!
And.
They.
All.
Slap.

I feel like one of the strawhats is going to die before one piece ends and my bet is that it’s Ussop.
The reasons?
1st. As of this moment, he is the least necessary strawhat.
Zoro is the first mate, Sanji is the cook, Franky fixes the boat, chopper is the doctor, Robin reads the poneglyphs, Nami is the navigator, Jinbie steers the ship. Brook is good at filling in roles in any scenario (except Robin’s). Luffy is the captain. Ussop’s strength is sniping but even then it’s not needed that often.
2. Ussop was the only one okay with saying Luffy wouldn’t be king of the pirates.
Back in wano, when Nami was being tortured, Ussop told her to lie for her safety and Nami not only didn’t say Luffy wouldn’t be king of the pirates, she exclaimed he would. And Ussop called her an idiot for it.
3. Ussops dream of being a great warrior is the easiest dream to achieve. He will likely die achieving it.

such a small detail but I cannot stop thinking about law leaving kikoku by luffy's bedside when he went out to talk with hancock and ivankov. idk it stirs up a lot of questions. like does law do this often? does law, like zoro, talk to his well-behaved cursed sword like "kikoku, sit. watch." before he leaves to go have lunch or a well deserved twenty minute post-surgery nap. is this the protective equivalent to leaving a baseball bat by the bedside? doctor's bedside manner emotional support blade? but then I also can't help but notice that it's unsheathed. which... actually, who is that sword protecting really, just sitting there? did luffy wake up more than once in the cradle of that submarine while his body was still recovering? (drugged up to the gills, entirely noncoherent, unable to be reasoned with, going in and out of consciousness, the only thought running through his mind being "ace"). probably would've been a nightmare for the heart crew

so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!
with that said, may I propose a few alternate theories about the possible Crowley/Revaan connection:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#art#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#on this installment of things nobody asked but i'm going to talk about anyway#disclaimer that this is mostly a joke please don't get mad at me#(legit no shade to anyone) (speculation is one of the fun things about an ongoing fandom and you never know what'll turn out to be true!)#more seriously i do think there may be some connection that just isn't clear yet#but the more little breadcrumbs we get about what revaan was like the more i think crowley just doesn't act like him#i adore crowley don't get me wrong#(yes he's a dipshit. this is a feature not a bug.)#but like.#not to harp on the scene about lilia's nrc invitation (i am absolutely going to harp on it)#i do not believe that crowley would go through the trash to fish out the pieces and put them back together and save them#just because it was lilia's. just because lilia might want it again someday.#crowley can ✨yasashii✨ all he wants but we know what he's like#and i REALLY do not believe that lilia wouldn't recognize him. i didn't believe it before and i extra don't believe it now.#then again i do tend to be incredibly off about speculation so! who knows! i will trust the writing for now!#i do 100% believe that meleanor would fall in love with the world's biggest dumbass and then double down super hard. that part tracks.#that said i have decided that ambrose being revaan is actually the funnier option just because it would make crowley SO mad#it wouldn't make sense for him to be mad about it and that would just make him madder
