demonstration, children arrested 4.10.2022

Saturday I was at a demonstration for the village of Khalet Adaba which is to be destroyed. I went with two young women who were helping a family to prepare their ancestral cave for the time when their home would be destroyed…..and I went home to my comfortable and safe home. We are doing this to over 100O people who will lost their homes in the next months. The two enclosures which you see were used for storing clothing. But is probably older and is also being used as an excuse to drive these people out as an "archaeologic site"….where in Israel is there no archelogical sites. This is also often used by the army which confiscates Palestinian vehicles under the claim that they are working such a site. Even though most of the times the soldiers have no official document to show that this is so and probably most of them have no idea of what an archaeological site is . Over 1000 people will be thrown out of their homes and no one cares where they will go. But illegal settler ourposts are being consolidated.

I was not in the area this time where the grenades were thrown as we had already been stopped at the entrance to the village and I made a very round about route until we got to the place of the actual demonstration. It was at a village which I had visited some months ago and where, from a jeep on the hills further away, a rocket had been fired directly into a house where people were sitting. Only afterwards when I got back after a very tiring day was I told that an email had been sent out warning those who had difficulty walking not to come. I was furious. It was very badly organized, not like last time and I will check carefully before I go again.

On Friday I was at Sheikh Jarrah and one of the men came up to me and said a friend of his had sent me a present. Evidently the Saturday before last when the soldiers threw the gas cannisters at us and everyone ran, they suddenly saw me standing there in a cloud and ran back to get me. It was a gas mask. Probably since the second gulf war. I said thank you and explained that it would not help me as first of all it is heavy for me to carry, secondly I would have to take off my rucksack to get it out and thirdly, walking as I do with two sticks, I could hardly manage it.

Yesterday at a demonstration in Safar Yatta against the expected demolition of the village of Khalat al-Daba and the deportation of all the families from the place, for the first time, I got tear gas, it takes a few minutes that you feel your face is on fire but after one or two onions you get back to business and wipe away the tears and keep walking

As one of my friends yesterday Noah Benninga wrote

"Unlike in other demonstrations, there was no announcement of a closed military area, no call to disperse, and no demonstration even started. An army jeep simply passed by our meeting point, a private home of one of the residents, who suffers from continuous harassment, and started shooting gas at us Just like that, without warning and for no reason, they forced us into the desert. Then, another miracle, they continued marching us through the hillst, occasionally firing gas grenades at us, and sometimes a stun grenade, without even talking to us, or demanding any specific action. , for example to disperse.

All in all, it seems that the soldiers quite enjoyed the whole story. Apparently it's more interesting than doing Shabbat in a hot base in the middle of nowhere. A possibility to use grenades without any chance of getting hurt. At some point I tried to ask them, if this is the significant service they would wish for.

So what did we learn from the whole thing? that apparently it is forbidden to support the residents of Masafar Yatta, and in general, that the Jews have nothing to do in the territories, unless they are settlers"

If Netanyahu gets in again and brings Ben Gvir and Smokovitz which is what I call him, maybe it will help to expose the true face of Israel. This is sad to say but anyone who supports the settlements and can divorce themselves from what is happening to the people there……I have no words. People are being driven from their homes with nowhere to go. Once when a solution was proposed for a different area, it was next to a rubbish heap with noxious fumes so that one could not even stand next to the area. Never mind live there. And if this happens then the position of demonstrators as we are will be much more complicated and even say dangerous. I believe there are already a few Israeli who are under administrative detention.

And writing about detention this is the way Israel arrests children. Don't say you did not know.

And do you know why these settlers were hiding? Because they had taken their children to near Nablus to demonstrate. The city has now been blocked in by the settlers for over two days and these people, who now try to make a show of how brave they are, are protected by them.

Hey guys! I’m sorry we haven’t been updating this blog as frequently as we want to, and less so with our own experiences/content.

This blog really helps me organize my thoughts and brings me a sense of joy, which I’m rediscovering, so I really want to be more active again here.

I have some things I’m planning to post about, including regular grimoire updates and some of the successful (and maybe some of the unsuccessful) spells I’ve done recently and FINALLY going through and answering all of the asks that have piled up.
