My find in Montreal

Paper is generally heavy stuff, or I would have walked out laden with sketchbooks from this delightful shop. I settled for big (well, biggish - the smallest size on offer, 12”x 18”) pads of Japanese washi, which is vastly lighter than the equivalent volume of European paper, and is my preferred printmaking paper. The shopkeeper was surprised that I could not easily get a wide choice of Japanese paper at home, New Zealand being so much closer to Asia. Absurdly, the brand I found there had been imported from Japan to Fort Worth, and thence to Canada. It still cost about half as much as the equivalent I usually source from Australia.

Il a guetté sa télé, il a vu un gros pépère avec de la sauce chic sur la cravate annoncer entre deux rots devant la porte du restaurant le nom de l’élu et le titre du chef-d’œuvre, il a vite couru l’acheter avant qu’il n’y en ait plus, il va le laisser négligemment traîner bien en vue sur la table basse du coin salon du séjour afin de ne pas passer pour l’analphabète qu’il est auprès des autres analphabets. - Cavanna, Les pensées, 1994.
