The sun shines; by the mailbox, leaves
of the divided birch tree folded, pleated like fins.
Underneath, hollow stems of the white daffodils, Ice Wings, Cantatrice; dark
leaves of the wild violet. Noah says
depressives hate the spring, imbalance
between the inner and the outer world. I make
another case — being depressed, yes, but in a sense passionately
attached to the living tree, my body
actually curled in the split trunk, almost at peace, in the evening rain
almost able to feel
sap frothing and rising: Noah says this is
an error of depressives, identifying
with a tree, whereas the happy heart
wanders the garden like a falling leaf, a figure for
the part, not the whole.
– Louise Glück, "Matins"

sabrina carpenter espresso SNL live performance. this is a song you hear in a $5.75 coffee shop because it's bland and yet stylish enough not to be literally white noise. carpenter's live vocals add nothing. the two dancers absolutely steal the show. one wonders whose decision it was to showcase the skill of these two very magnetic performers in supporting roles in a performance where carpenter is nominally the star. not to mention releasing an EP with nothing but remixes. complete disinterest can work as a vocal style but not as a brand strategy. the idea of sabrina carpenter is apparently so dispassionate about itself it doesn't care whether its subject is compelling onstage or whether releasing a 6-track EP of the same song six times might seem lazy

You know what'd be really cool? A feedback exchange project.
Now, when I say feedback, I do mean feedback -- a commentary on both the weak and the strong points of a given work.
In my experience, nearly all (if not all) fanfic writers are riddled with a certain set of doubts about their own creations. Surely, it is nice to be praised, but... In my opinion, it is also nice to receive information that something could be improved and to be given insight of what possible paths could be chosen. After all, our own perceptions of things can be warped, as we experience the world only as ourselves and are personally attached to what we make.
Hmm... Or maybe that's just me. Oh well.

a idea i've had for a while that's very near and dear to my heart is that the reason the four sword became capable of splitting the wielder into four separate people like in four swords and four swords adventures instead of simply making magical transparent copies that vanish after a certain amount of time like it originally did in the minish cap is because while the hero of the minish was running desperately around hyrule and trying to save zelda and having to fight everything from chuchus to dungeon bosses to vaati by himself (since ezlo was a hat. and couldn't aid in battles) he made an idle little throwaway comment about wishing that he didn't have to fight all these battles on his own except he actually Really Really Meant It because he was just a scared kid who wanted his best friend back. and the four sword had only just been reforged from the picori blade. it was powerful but it was still new to the world in a sense. it couldn't grant him his wish then, so it granted his wish for every wielder that came after him: they may have to fight, but they won't have to do it alone.
