The sun shines; by the mailbox, leaves
of the divided birch tree folded, pleated like fins.
Underneath, hollow stems of the white daffodils, Ice Wings, Cantatrice; dark
leaves of the wild violet. Noah says
depressives hate the spring, imbalance
between the inner and the outer world. I make
another case — being depressed, yes, but in a sense passionately
attached to the living tree, my body
actually curled in the split trunk, almost at peace, in the evening rain
almost able to feel
sap frothing and rising: Noah says this is
an error of depressives, identifying
with a tree, whereas the happy heart
wanders the garden like a falling leaf, a figure for
the part, not the whole.
– Louise Glück, "Matins"

The architectures of these macromolecules can be quite diverse; molecules can be linear or branched or have a comb, ladder or star structure (figure 26.4).

I’m sharing this because you have a right to know the risks you are taking through exposure, even if they’re not being communicated to you through authority figures. I haven’t been exaggerating about how *not mild* Covid is, there are so many studies like the ones mentioned here with concerning clinical implications. One of them says that immune dysfunction persists for OVER 8 months post infection. I’m not an immunologist, so I find threads like this helpful for lay understanding (some stem background helps). It’s not your fault if you were never informed, but that’s not the same thing as willful ignorance and gaslighting people who try to tell you the science because it’s not “popular opinion.” Given all the literature coming out about Covid (this thread is JUST on the immune system, it impacts literally every system), it is irresponsible to perpetuate the messaging that it is only a mild illness. We are seeing immunosuppression happening on a population level this winter, which is overwhelming healthcare systems with secondary infections, and with the end of zero covid in China, it can only get worse. The very least you can do to protect your community is wear a mask and stay home if you’re sick.
