20 year old musician Redveil, from Washington D.C, recently performed at UCSC’s encampment in support of the student protestors there. UCSC students demand that the establishment provide full closure of investments in Israel, complete divestment of any entity investing or profiting from the genocide of Palestinians. He highlights witnessing firsthand that the real safety concerns at this student encampment— contrary to media reports— is the concerning police presence called by the University onto their own students.

The rapper had previously raised awareness of the brutality Palestinians are facing by the hands of Israel at Tyler The Creator’s Flog Gnaw festival in November 2023, where he displayed the names of every civilian killed in Gaza since October 7th. Redveil called for an immediate ceasefire, demanding that State representatives follow suit— “It’s not complicated, don’t nobody tell you that shit” He says, with Flog Gnaw founder and artist Tyler The Creator replying “It’s not”.

This is what I wrote in the feedback section for the new discord update:

I absolutely hate that the messages like group chats and DMs are in a different tab than servers now. there was absolutely nothing broken about the way that it was laid out and displayed before, so there's no reason to "fix" it!! I also am sorely missing the ability to swipe left to look at all members of a server, the having to click on the top feels clunky and visually unpleasant. I hate being taken to an entirely different screen just to see who's online! it's an entirely unnecessary extra step that helps no one. the idea of "prioritizing messaging" by putting private messages and group chats in a tab seperate from servers is completely asinine when discord as a whole is a messaging service in and of itself! also, it's a small aesthetic change but rounding the corners of the servers when swiping to look at the servers at the side is unnecessary and unwelcome and overall incredibly displeasing to look at. speaking of swiping, making it so swiping left creates a reply to a message is the most unnecessary, confusing, and almost MALICIOUS feeling change yet, especially when swiping left had an entirely different function before. please listen to your user base and stop making so many changes that absolutely NO ONE is actually asking for and actively make the user experience worse. you have a good app, it is not broken, stop trying to fix things that don't need to be changed because you've continually only made things worse.

My novel Up With the Star comes out today, Friday, September 8! It features a whole cast of queer characters and is set in an America that has fallen apart and reformed itself into scores of smaller states, some at war with each other, some at peace, some federated, some not. The main character is one of the Nameless, a manufactured underclass produced by one of the largest political bodies on the North American continent. She hails from a small state that was formed by christofascist secessionists around a century before the story starts, and was cast out after her values failed to align with those of her birthplace, in a rather spectacular manner.

After the Iconoclast's violent assassination of the previous leader of a different political body, she's nominated to take his place by the Iconoclast, as well as her friends Conway--an ex-POW who now works in commerce--and Marta--a highly-regarded trauma surgeon at the gladiatorial pits, the home of post-dissolution America's favorite sport, the site of quite a lot of augury and oracular functions, and the main characters "workplace." She takes the job on the offering of being able to spite the people who made her Nameless. Wouldn't it nice to be powerful and respected? Wouldn't it be nice to be in charge, just once?

Great for people who like adult transmasc characters, characters who are struggling with christianity, doctors, scenes about food, estranged families, fictional grandmas, and people motivated by spite, and can tolerate suicidal ideation, blood, violence, christianity, and sex scenes.

Ah, yeah, I separate the whole process on all my platforms!

Entity on Tumblr, since it allows for 4+ options

Then I do traits (amongst theme) on Twitter since I can have multiple polls in the same thread

Then I keep name vote on Instagram, I get the most suggestions there

I find it works the best to separate the processes to keep everyone involved. I ask for suggestions on all platforms and try my best to keep all socials updated on the votes!
