He's known his time was up for awhile, never really felt like he was supposed to come back. So when JL needs to use JLD to summon the High King of the Infinite Realms, suspected of being a God of Death, Jason's a little on edge.

He mayhapsest may jump straight to verbally lashing out the second the shadows start to condense into a humanoid form, the second he realizes something about the height of it but before it's fully formed.

"You're a short motherfucker and nobody likes you! Everyone talks about how short you are behind your back!"

Everyone freezes, including the form that finishes condensing and ohhhhhh fuck that's a kid.

He just insulted a kid.

Oh fuck.

Now everyone is staring at him and the kid looks stunned, like he can't really believe what he just heard.

And Jason can't really apologize for that what the hell but also he can't justify it what the fuck is he supposed to do-

"Damn Jason, I thought when I saw you in the Realms you looked fucked up, but I guess coming back to life didn't do you any favors, huh?"

Okay, first off, that was a good comeback. Second off, he has zero recollection of this kid.

Something about how physically small Ellie looks in this episode just makes it all so much more intense. How little she is curled next to Joel, how big the rifle looks when she holds it, the way David is able to pick her up so easily. The contrast in the size of their hands when he's telling her that she, a 14-year-old, is his only equal, and how tiny hers look when she wraps her arms around Joel; the way his coat reaches her knees when he drapes it over her. Every second the camera spends on her is forcing you to look at how young she is and it just makes it all so much more awful.

it's SO funny that when asked what he had to do to prepare for his role in IWTV Sam Reid says he had to learn how to play the piano, learn to speak French, Italian, and English with a French accent.
