Note
hi blue!! dunno if this has been asked before but do you know which artifact sets and weapons (five and four stars) are good for dps cyno? thank u <33
hello hello nonnie<333 we shall all be cyno havers, yeah?? i’m not a pro but i really like doing stuff like this so it’s so nice to be asked to do this🫶🏼🫶🏼
warning: I will not spoil you guys EXACTLY what his e skill and burst and weapons but i will say things that will imply about them (obv) so if you don’t want that, then why are you guys even curious about this….
ARTIFACTS
note: i won’t be able to say which one is the best set for him bc obv he is not released and i do not have him yet. these are by far merely my observations and what i myself prepared for him (yes, i alr have artis for him. why? you know why)
Mono Electro/flexible DPS
- 2pc ATK% (shime, glad, echoes, vermil) + 2pc Thundering
- the reason why i named this “flexible DPS” is because of his team comp. you’ll be able to be flexible in terms of who you can pair up with him and even go Mono Electro if you want.
Electro DPS
- 4pc Thundering Fury
- have anyone seen the change in the 4pc set description? it’s so good! you’ll gain 40% more damage when you trigger any other ele with Electro while aggravate has 20%. Then they also decrease your e skill CD by 1s every 0.8s.
- cyno’s e skill is pretty similar to xiao’s, only with a lower CD and only has 1 charge.
- cons: you’ll need someone with a different element to trigger the 4pc (except the skill CD decrease)
EM DPS
- 4pc Gilded Dreams
- now this MIGHT just be his very best artifact set. i’m merely saying this because of his passives (which i wont specify but…) if you know how much raiden shogun needs energy recharge to give more damage, that is how much cyno needs EM.
- cons: you’ll also need someone with a different element to trigger the 4pc, BUT you will have to consider you team comp very much because it does affect the buff that you will receive (ATK% for each fellow electro member and 50 EM for every different element)
Other Artifacts I am not sure would work as well but is worth a try:
- 2pc Gilded Dreams/Instructor + 2pc Wanderer’s/Instructor (double EM/Mono EM)
- 2pc Thundering + 2pc Gilded/Wanderer’s/Instructor (ElectroEM)
- 2pc Noblesse + 2pc Gilded/Wanderer’s/Instructor/Thundering
- 4pc Instructor
- 2pc Instructor + 2pc Gambler/Berserker (or the other way around)
- 4pc Gambler
- 4pc Emblem [not so sure about this, and i think it’s best with other characters instead]
WEAPONS
note: again, i won’t be able to be sure what really is the best for him, but i’ll try to give my own rankings here. special mentions are the ones i suggest if you do not have the ones above. also, weaps with * are craftable.
Electro (can be mono) DPS
- Cyno’s Sig Weapon, Calamity Queller, Staff of Homa, Deathmatch R5, Primordial Jade Spear, Deathmatch, Blackcliff Pole
- special mention: *Moonpiercer
- for me, Calamity Queller probably is the best for him (sad i dont have it…) aside from his own sig weapon
- now the reason why i placed homa there is because of the high crit dmg. crit dmg is pretty hard to get imo and as long as you have it, you just need to add on crit rate with his artifacts, which is easier than the other way around
Burst Reliant DPS
- R5 White Tassel, Wavebreaker’s Fin (burst), The Catch (burst), R5 Halberd, White Tassel (normals), Halberd (normals)
- special mention: Skyward Spine, Engulfing Lightning, *Crescent Pike (normals)
- p.s. i am not SO sure about The Catch or Wavebreaker’s Fin because we still do not know if his burst counts as Elemental Burst DMG or as Normals. if it’s Elemental Burst DMG, then The Catch or Wavebreaker’s Fin is good, and it’s very much like Raiden/s. but if it’s based on normals, then he’s very much like Xiao, where his burst only adds damage to his Normals (and charged and plunging). with cyno, i am not so sure.
- Crescent pike’s main stat is absolutely useless, but the passive may help him if his burst counts as Normals
- White Tassel also counts as Normals, and it has crit rate.
EM DPS
- Cyno’s Sig Weapon, *Moon Piercer, Calamity Queller, Kitain Cross Spear, The Catch,
- special mention: Dragon’s Bane
- now these would be difficult to handle. as someone who prioritizes crit, this may be too difficult for you. also, crit is very important in this game, but IF and only if you get lucky with your artifacts, then these weapons can really make him stronger
- p.s. there is a new 4* weapon coming up (which i wont specify) but it will fall under this type and will be second best to Cyno’s sig weapon. this weapon is kind of like a Calamity Queller but a 4*. Of course Calamity Queller is a 5* so it has higher stats but at least MAYBE we can R5 this new 4* weapon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you reached this point you’ll be a cyno haver too<333 ily for listening to my rambling may all cyno wanters be cyno havers !!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

~~~~~~~~~~
Several weeks had passed since Y/N had officially joined the Dregs, and there was never a dull moment. After a quick two days of allowing her to get used to her new environment, Kaz started using her for jobs. If she was not physically there for a job, her potions were being used. She was proving a most useful investment.
When Kaz had taken to training Y/N for combat so soon, not everyone was thrilled.
“She doesn’t need to be dangerous to be useful to you Kaz.” Jesper had argued, worried that she wasn’t ready.
Kaz had scoffed. “She’s been dangerous this entire time, Jesper.”
Y/N chimed in. “It’s fine, Jesper, I need to be able to protect myself and I’m sick of being stuck in my room all the time.”
Since then, she had worked with Jesper to practice shooting, and Inej to use her knife. Kaz had even started teaching her about lockpicking, but she was miserable at it. What she had really taken a liking to, however, was hand to hand combat. She knew that it played to her strengths, when she was close up with someone she could easily use her abilities as an Alkemi to take them down.
Everything in her life had changed, and it was hard to adapt, but she put in the effort. Everyday she made more potions and worked harder to be a more powerful asset to the Dregs. Her progress was intriguing to Kaz, who found it humorous to see how much Pekka was limiting her. Sure, Rollins was an impeccable, wicked businessman, but the amount of mistakes he had made with Y/N were laughable. If he had treated her differently she would have helped him gain exponentially. She had held herself back around Pekka, because she didn’t want to help a man who was hurting her. With Kaz, on the other hand, she was fighting to prove herself worthy of his freeing her. She was more powerful in a few weeks with the Dregs than in years with the Dime Lions.
One night, when they all had no jobs to be done, Y/N, Inej, and Jesper were spending time in the Crow Club. Kaz remained in his office, but he came down occasionally to check on his his club. Jesper kept an eye out for Kaz, and got up from the bar and head to his post guarding the door as soon as he saw him.
Kaz approached Y/N and Inej, who were both nursing drinks, gossiping, and having a general good time. They grew silent when he reached them.
Kaz raised his brow at their silence. “Talking about me?”
Inej’s eyes widened. They had been. Or rather, Y/N had been teasing her about him. She tried to look natural.
Y/N scoffed, smoothly replying. “Don’t flatter yourself, there’s a hot guy at the bar.”
She shoved Inej, who then started nodding at the statement. Y/N held back a laugh at the black that flashed through Kaz’s eyes at the thought of Inej being attracted to someone, but she decided not to mention it.
Inej put her attention on Kaz. “What do you need?”
Kaz straightened himself up. “I’ve heard word of a job the Black Tips are picking up.”
“That’s all? You’ve heard nothing else?”
Kaz tilted his head. “That’s where you two come in. Inej, I need to see if you can pick up anything on the streets. Y/N, stay here and see if you can get anything from the gentlemen over in the corner. The gray suit?”
Y/N nodded, taking a sip. “What, you want me to flirt with him?”
“No, I’m not sure he’d be so willing.”
“Is that an insult?”
“No, I just think Jesper would have a better chance,” Kaz informed, turning back to her.
Y/N’s lips formed an “o” shape, realizing what he was implying.
“I know he has connections to the Black Tips, play cards with him, get him drunk, just see if he’ll talk.” Kaz gave them a final nod before walking away.
Inej sighed. “So much for a night off.”
Y/N laughed and shook her head, standing up from her seat and finishing the drink. “Be safe out there, Inej.”
“You too.” She replied, moving toward the exit.
Once left alone, Y/N turned toward the man in the grey suit. He rested his head on his hand, watching the hands of the dealer. His hair was a deep red, his eyes a light green.
She rolled her eyes as she walked toward his table. “What is it with me and Kaelish men?”
She sat down next to him greeting him with a smile. The dealer dealt her in, raising a brow. He knew she was one of Kaz’s Crows, and she was not keen on playing cards. Do you need me to let you win? He asked her silently, making eye contact.
She shrugged. The game doesn’t matter.
She noticed the lack of funds in front of the grey suit man. “No luck?” She asked in an impressive Kaelish accent. You can’t spend years at the Emerald Palace and not be good at it.
“No, not really.” He replied, looking at her. He took notice of her posture and the way she turned in her seat to look at him. “I’m not really interested.”
Y/N frowned. “Oh, I’m not here for that, I’m here to play. I need to raise my spirits after this girl I met at the bar.”
“Oh, really?” The man asked, intrigued. It wasn’t often a woman was interested in playing cards.
“Yeah, she turned me down without a second glance.” She sighed, looking into the distance. “It’s a shame, really. I’m a good time”
He raised an eyebrow. “Girls?”
“Anyone.” She replied with a smirk. “But the fire’s out now. What about you?”
“Fire’s been out for a while.” He laughed, raising his hand for her to shake. “Brion Mac Asgaill.”
“Morrin Iain.” She smiled, shaking his hand.
She talked with the man for the next few hours. He was a fairly nice man for being in the Barrel, and she almost felt bad about lying to him. She had gathered that the Black Tips had been hired by a mercher to steal an expensive necklace from the house of a wealthy merchant, but it seemed that was all Brion knew.
With all her focus on the Kaelish man beside her, she hadn’t noticed an admirer she’d gained across the table. A dark haired man, not much younger than the man beside her, had been watching her since she’d sat down. Once Brion had left, and Y/N shortly after, he had gotten up to follow after her.
“A whiskey soda, please?” She asked the bartender as she leaned up against the bar. She looked around to see if she could catch sight of Kaz. She didn’t want to go to his office to give him the details, fearing he may have business going on tonight.
“What’s a girl like you doing in a dump like this?” The dark haired man slid up next to her, putting on his best face.
“Walking away.” She quipped, pushing herself up from her leaning position and stepping around him.
“Hey, I’m sorry!” He called after her. He paused, looking around. “I know it was a bad line!”
The girl turned around, looking at him. He smiled as she walked back toward him. She picked up her glass she had left on the bar. “Forgot my drink,” she told him with a wink, walking away once more.
Y/N moved to another side of the bar, taking sips from her glass as she went. She sighed as she leaned up against a wall in the corner, keeping an eye out for Kaz. She just wanted to tell him the information she got so she could go back to her room at the Slat. She’d had enough of the club for one night.
A little while later, Jesper decided to come inside the club, abandoning his post at the door as he always did. He longed to play at one of the many card games going on around him, but first he wanted to check for his friends.
Inej was nowhere to be found, which was not shocking in the slightest. Jesper had seen her on her way out, remembering how she had said she was on patrol for Kaz. He had never seen Y/N leave, however, and he couldn’t figure out where she was. Normally if she was at the club she would have gotten bored and come to talk to him by now.
He checked the tables first, seeing if she had gotten wrapped up in a game of cards. It was not anything he was aware she enjoyed, but he knew she might be there getting information for Kaz. Finding no luck, he made his way up to the bar.
When he first saw her, his stomach turned. She was standing very closely with a dark haired man, leaning up against him for support. She laughed loudly at a joke the man made, making Jesper’s jaw clench. She’s like half his age. He thought. What does he have that I —no. I have no right to be jealous. She’s not mine to lose.
He tried to shake off the envy flooding his body. The door needed guarding, so he should head back. Besides, he couldn’t stand seeing her like that anymore. Just before he turned to walk away, he paused. He tilted his head at the sight before him. Y/N had just stepped away from the man in front of her, only for a second, and looked as if she might faint. Shit. I don’t think she knows what she’s doing.
Seeing the man grab her arm roughly to stabilize her was enough to get Jesper’s feet moving directly toward him.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” Jesper asked smoothly, tilting his head.
The man stiffened. “None of your business.”
Y/N, on the other hand, brightened up at the sight of her friend. “Jesper!” She shouted, much too loud. She herself pushed off of the dark haired man and landed in the sharpshooter's arms. “Oh, I missed you!”
Jesper held her up as she leaned on him. Saints, she’s completely gone. “I missed you too, petal,” He replied, speaking gently to her. “Let’s get out of here.”
Anger flashed in the other man’s eyes. “Hey, she’s with me!”
“Oh, I’m sure she’s so excited for it.” Jesper snapped back at the man with a glare. “But, I’m her friend, so I’m just gonna have a chat with her and then maybe she’ll come back if she wants to.”
“You can’t just —“
“Leave her alone.” Jesper demanded. “I’m not going to ask again.” He grabbed the man by the collar. “It’s in your best interest, mate. I’m a famously good shot.”
The man noticed the pearl-handled revolvers holstered at Jespers waist and began to back away.
Jesper was beginning to lead Y/N to a corner of the bar when he noticed Kaz coming down from his office. He caught his boss’s eye, asking him to come over.
Kaz frowned, noting Y/N’s intoxicated state. “Someone can’t handle their drinks?”
“Yeah, not when some bastard slips something into them,” Jesper replied, looking back at the girl. “The dark haired man over at the bar. Striped waistcoat.”
Kaz raised his eyebrows. “Consider it dealt with.” There was a familiar look of vengeance in his eyes. “Take her to her room and stay there, we don’t need anyone thinking they can sneak in. You’re off for the night.”
Jesper nodded, silently thanking Kaz as he led Y/N out of the Crow Club and toward the Slat.
She looked up at him with wide eyes. “Jes, where are we going?”
“Back to your room, love. So you can sleep.”
“Oh. What happened to that guy?”
“I don’t know. Kaz is dealing with him.”
“Oh, good.” Y/N sighed, leaning against him more. “He was weird. I feel sick.”
“I know,” he sighed, his worried eyes scanning her face. “We are almost there.”
When they arrived at her room, he helped her lay down on her bed before going to sit on a chair she had placed in the corner of her room. Just when he thought she had fallen asleep, she flipped over in her bed to face him. “Jes, why are you still here?”
Jesper didn’t know how to respond. Because I don’t want you to get taken advantage of by anyone who saw you. He didn’t want to freak her out by implying that she was in some form of danger. She had been through enough restless nights. “Uh, I like it better here. It’s cozy.”
“Weird,” she replied, scrunching her nose. “That chair isn’t comfortable.”
“Rude,” he replied, scrunching up his nose, “I think it’s the best chair I’ve ever sat on.”
She sat up and stared at him. “You should come sleep up here with me.”
Jesper froze. He definitely did want to do that. He definitely should not do that. “Love, I —“
“Why do you always call me that?” She asked. When she got no answer, she spoke up again. “The pet names?”
“I—“ he hesitated. He flirted with everyone, but with her it was different. With her he meant it. “Because you’re my favorite, Y/N.”
She bit the inside of her cheek, a childish smile growing on her face. She still felt ill from the drugged drink, but Jesper had made her feel safe. “Sweet. If I’m your favorite, you getting out of that chair and coming up here with me should be no issue.”
He rolled his eyes. “Fine. But only because you’re sick.”
It took them a good five minutes and a multitude of awkward positions before they found one that suited them. “Thank the Saints.” She sighed, resting her head on his shoulder. “It was getting cold in here.”
Jesper scoffed. “I can’t believe you just needed me to get warm! I’ve never felt more used.”
The girl beside him laughed uncontrollably, hiding her face in his jacket. He smiled down at her, amused. She had makeup smeared under her eyes, her hair was a mess, and her clothes were ruffled, but she looked perfect to him. The moment was lovely. If it weren’t for the horrible circumstances, he would have basked in it.
Y/N yawned beside him. “I’m just kidding, you know. You’re my favorite too.”
A lump caught in his throat. The statement made his heart beat faster and he prayed she didn’t notice. It was no secret to him that he cared about her. It was nice to know that she cared about him too, even if it wasn’t the way he wanted.
She spoke up again, smiling at him. “There’s nobody better than you.”
That toyed with him. As much as he wanted to be the person she saw him as, he wasn’t. He wasn’t kind and trustworthy like Inej, and he wasn’t smart and powerful like Kaz. He was just a college dropout with a gambling problem. Y/N deserved better than that. She deserved everything, and he’d be damned if he was the reason she didn’t get it.
Not to mention, one of his fears about being with her was proved real once again tonight. She was still recovering from a terrible past. As much as she was fitting in with the people of the Barrel, there were times where it was painfully obvious that she had been alone for so long. Like tonight. Someone should have been there at the club to make sure she was okay. She had fooled everyone, possibly even herself, with her quick wit and strength in fights, that she was okay on her own. It was apparent to Jesper that she still needed help adapting, but she was too afraid to ask.
She needed help from her friends to help her overcome her trauma, not some scatterbrained sharpshooter telling her he loved her.
In all his thinking, Jesper didn’t notice that the girl had fallen asleep.
When the sun rose, he slipped into Inej’s room to ask her to check on Y/N after breakfast.
When Y/N woke up, he was gone.
She had a note on her desk from Inej, stating that she had the morning off to rest and recover from the night before. A pit of embarrassment formed in the bottom of her stomach just thinking about it. She didn’t want to think about the fact that she had needed to be protected so often, that she was so weak. A shudder went through her body at the thought.
Weakness was all she had ever felt, the one constant in her life. Even after being freed from the Emerald Palace, she felt helpless. She had sunken eyes, and every part of her shook with each step, especially her hands. In the first week after living at the Slat, she had decided that this was a trauma response. She had escaped an abusive relationship and immediately joined a gang of criminals. It was overwhelming.
But the shaking, sick feeling persisted. It was three weeks in that she realized it was not going away, and she had to accept the reason why. She was going through a withdrawal. The drugs Pekka had her on were particularly strong, especially since she had been the one to make them, and now that she did not have them anymore, her body couldn’t stop craving them. She had been suspicious that this was the reason for her sickness for a while, but she did not want it to be true. She did not want Pekka to continue to hurt her even after she was gone. But it didn’t matter what she wanted, her need for some sort of medicine was only increasing, and it was ruining her.
When she first took to creating something to stop her withdrawal, she thought it might be easy. She tried all different types of potions of her own design, but she soon realized that none of them were working just the way she needed them to. Pekka had been giving her different potions for different reasons, and half of them made her worse, not better. Not only did she not know exactly what she was given, but she also couldn’t figure out how much. To try and replicate it would be impossible.
Y/N was skilled at her science, however, and took a different route. She listed all of the good symptoms she could remember, and focused on creating something that would replicate them. Instead of mixing her old recipes, she could create a new one that would be more efficient and effective.
She lost a night of sleep figuring it out, but she hadn’t had a craving since using it, except for when she didn’t have the ingredients.
The most important aspect of her new drug was jurda, an orange flower from Novyi Zem that people had been using as a stimulant for decades. She had always thought that jurda could be much more, as it was an extremely active and powerful plant. With some manipulation from her Alkemi powers and tools at her work table, she had created exactly the drug she needed.
She was cured of her addiction to whatever Pekka had given her, but she had created an entirely new chemical dependency in her. She felt fine, maybe even healthy, but it was causing a huge dent in what little money she had. Her whole purpose for living was finding her sister, so why was she spending every last dime she had everytime a new shipment of jurda came in?
When she woke up and saw the letter on her desk, her heart leaped at the thought of being able to use her free time to stock up on the flower she so desperately needed. She hated herself for it. She knew she needed rest, but there she was, walking out to the stands along 5th Harbor to get the best deals on a drug she shouldn’t need. She mentally cursed herself. Dependency is vulnerability. I am still weak if I must rely on something to make me strong.
She made it back to the Crow Club just in time for a meeting with Kaz.
Inej had gotten much more information on the heist that the Black Tips were setting up, so a few days before the other gang was going to steal the necklace, the Crows were there instead.
Kaz had decided their best bet was to steal the necklace when the house would be busy, and when he found out that the mercher was having a luxurious party soon he knew it was going to be their way in.
The main problem: Kaz had met with the man before. He would recognize Kaz on sight, so he had to keep his distance. So, he stayed with Inej while she would scale the building to retrieve the necklace, while Jesper and Y/N would do business inside.
It was the morning before the party, and the group was going over plans in Kaz’s office.
“Now,” Y/N spoke, dropping a tablet into a bottle of liquor. “If anyone drinks this, they should be fine and they won’t notice anything different. It’s colorless, odorless, the works. But, when I get the signal, I can make anyone who has consumed it pass out for as long as you need, but no longer than ten minutes, or it could be lethal.”
Kaz smirked. Perfect. “Good. Jesper, you’ll go in disguised as one of the servants. Make sure that you place one of Y/N’s tablets in each bottle that they serve. I will get her papers so that she can show up as a guest, who will find herself lost near the gallery where the necklace is, just in case we get any company while we are in there.”
“Meeting point?” Jesper asked, getting giddy at the thought of some action.
“The fountain, about a block away.”
A few days later, it was time to put the plan in motion.
The party was a beautiful sight, even if you knew you didn’t belong. Everything seemed to be dusted with starlight as Y/N made her way into the party, smiling at different guests as she passed. Now that she was in, she just needed to make her way up to the second floor without causing a stir.
She caught sight of Jesper across the room, who was serving another glass of wine to a guest. When he noticed her, he winked, and promptly went back to his assigned role. Y/N smiled for a few seconds, staring at him. Suddenly, a man brushed past her, and she shook herself out of her distracted state. Now is not the time for stupid crushes.
When she made it up to the second floor she was able to poison a couple of guards with a few flicks of her wrist. Thank the Saints Jesper didn’t miss a bottle.
The rest of the night went by exactly as Kaz had planned, and now he, Inej, and Jesper stood at the fountain, waiting for Y/N to show up so they could head back to the Crow Club. They had seen her leave the building, so where could she have gone.
After a while, Kaz agreed to go and check on what was wrong.
Kaz frowned as he made his way back to the house. This was the first big job she had been put on. Had he asked too much from her? She had been so confident in the meeting, but it was possible she had been lying.
His mind changed when he found her. She was around the back of the house, sitting over a dead body. There was blood all over her hands that must have come from the bullet wound in the man’s chest.
“Y/N!” He whispered harshly. “What are you doing?”
She looked shocked when she looked up at him, tears forming that she wouldn’t let drop. “He’s touched me before. I didn’t even think about it before I-“
“I’ll deal with it. We need to go.” Kaz tried his best to get her to stop being upset. He was shocked at what she said next.
“I don’t feel bad about it.” The tears in her eyes were gone, and her voice had hardened. She had said it like it was a realization. “I’m not sorry. Isn’t that sick?”
Kaz’s eyebrows raised as she looked back down at the man she had killed. He saw a familiar look in her eyes.
Revenge.
Y/N and Kaz had that in common. While not as ruthless as Kaz, she had quickly proven that she often did not pull punches in a fight. Even if she should. This was proof of that. He found it reckless, but he also understood.
Kaz said nothing and led her out away from the body. When she wasn’t looking, he dropped a few drops of her disintegration potion on the body and watched the ashes float away in the wind.
Before they reached the fountain, he spoke up. “Take your revenge on your own time. We don’t have the luxury of being reckless.”
When Jesper and Inej spotted them, they were shocked at the blood covering their friend.
“Saints, what happened?” Inej asked while Jesper held Y/N by the shoulders, checking for any injuries.
Kaz responded. “She was having a chat with a man outside to avoid suspicion, but when he saw me, he attacked. We got out of it though, didn’t we?”
“Yeah,” Y/N replied, her mind obviously elsewhere. “I made him pass out before he could even think about it. Took quite a fall, though.”
The group made their way back to the club as quickly and quietly as possible, discussing the day’s gains.
Kaz Brekker realized that day that he and Y/N had things in common, and, because of that, she would be extremely useful. He no longer had to rely solely on himself for intimidation of other groups. If he was not in the mood to torture someone, the girl behind him with a bottle in her hand and murder in her eyes would do the trick. He had Y/N sit in on his more gruesome meetings from that point on.
Unlike Inej and Jesper, Y/N did not seem to dislike killing. Unlike Kaz, she was messy about it. He was motivated by kruge and vengeance. She was motivated by rage and sadness. Too emotional. He had thought. It’s a good thing she can cover her tracks.
Nevertheless, her emotion would be useful to him. He had sworn to himself his desire for vengeance on Pekka Rollins was his only reason for anything he did, and now he had an asset on his side that had her own vendetta against the man. After that night, it was an unspoken agreement between the two of them. They would destroy Pekka Rollins. Brick by brick.
Y/N laughed from her couch as she tossed some popcorn at Spencer, who sat on the other end of her couch.
"Y/N!" Spencer scolded as he looked over at her, with a smile, when he saw that she was pretending to be interested in the movie they were watching.
Y/N tried to hide her smirk, before she erupted in giggles as she looked back at him, tossing some more popcorn at him. Spencer groaned as he tried to swat away the onslaught of popcorn before he started laughing along with her. Soon Y/N had wiggled her way over to Spencer as she continued to rain popcorn at him before she straddled his hips. Y/N smiled down at him as she lifted the bowl of remaining popcorn above his head then tipped it, dumping the rest of the popcorn.
"Y/N!" Spencer laughed, as he reached up to grab the bowl from her hands. She chuckled and dropped the bowl behind the couch, her arms dropped so that they were draped over his shoulders. Spencer's hands dropped to rest on her hips, and let out a sigh of contentment when her fingers brushed against some of the hair at the base of his neck as she looked down at his face.
Spencer licked his lips as he nervously fiddled with her oversized sweater, his eyes looking between her eyes and her lips. "Screw it." He said quietly before he crashed his lips to hers. Y/N let out a soft gasp against his lips before she eagerly kissed him back, threading her fingers into his hair.
Spencer's hands slid under her sweater, his fingertips brushing against the band of her shorts she wore. Y/N pulled away from the kiss to pull off her sweater, leaving her top half bare. Spencer let out a breath and looked up from her chest, his hands coming up to card through her hair. He pulled her head down to crush his lips against hers again, his hips grinding up against hers slightly. The movie they had turned on, now forgotten behind her.
As they continued to kiss, Y/N let out a groan and pulled away from him as she heard her phone ringing on the coffee table. She slid off Spencer's lap and stood, reaching for her phone. Spencer bit his lip, as his eyes raked over her topless figure, as she bent to pick up the ringing device.
"Penny, you need to have a really good reason for calling on our week off." Y/N said when she answered the phone. "We have a case don't we?" She looked at Spencer as she reached for her sweater when he handed it to her. Spencer watched her slide it on and chuckled softly when he heard her next words. "No need to call him, he's right in front of me." She smiled at him, with a wink.
Spencer smiled back and stood from the couch to gather his things after he pressed a kiss to Y/N's forehead. "Was that a kiss I heard?!" He heard from Penelope's end of the call, causing him to chuckle again.
"Goodbye, Penelope." Y/N said before she hung up. "I'll get dressed then we can go to the office."
Spencer and Y/N rode to Quantico in a tension-filled silence after what happened before they were interrupted. Spencer looked over at Y/N as he replayed the kiss over and over again. He was pulled away from his thoughts as she pulled into her assigned parking spot in the lot. The pair got out and started walking to the elevator in the parking garage.
Y/N fiddled with one of the buttons on her blazer as they rode the elevator in silence. Spencer leaned over and pressed a kiss to her temple with a smile, pulling away when the doors started opening on their floor. Y/N smiled softly and stepped out with Spencer, once they were inside the bullpen, she went over to her desk to drop off her bag.
"Miss Y/N..." Penelope sing-songed as she walked over to her, dragging Derek along with her. "You have some 'splanin' to do." She said in the 'I love Lucy' voice.
"I do not." Y/N said feigning innocence. "Also we have a case so now's not the time." She said as she began to walk upstairs to the meeting room, taking her seat next to Spencer.
Soon, everyone arrived and sat down around the table pulling their files to him, opening them up to look at their contents. "Ok guys. We're not traveling very far for this case. It's in our own backyard." Hotch said as he began clicking through some of the photos on the TV screen. Y/N listened to him in the background as she started looking through the pictures for the victimology.
"Every one of the women are Y/H/C and Y/E/C eyed, the only thing different is height and weights. Some of them were found to have Y/E/C contacts and a crude dye job if they did not have the correct look to the unsub. These things were noted in the autopsies." Y/N said as she looked up at the screen as pictures of the victims came up.
"There was some DNA recovered from the sexual assaults and under the fingernails of the first victim, there were no matches in CODAS." Derek said, reading the information from his file.
"DC capitol police think the first victim is Leah Ainsworth, 24, a tourist in DC on vacation." Hotch said. "The period of which the victims were reported missing and then to when they were found is 3-5 days."
Y/N nodded her head. " The extreme amount of wounds seems like overkill. 10 of the wounds on Leah were done postmortem. A lot of rage behind these attacks." She said as she closed her file and looked around at the rest of the team to gauge their reactions.
"There's something else..." Derek said. "Every victim was found with a note that said 'For F/I M/I L/I'."
"Could it be an activist group?" Spencer asked, sitting up in his seat.
"Could be initials." Hotch said rubbing his chin in thought. "Garcia see if those are a match for anything like that."
"Got it." Penelope said, writing down a note for herself.
"Reid, Morgan, go to the latest crime scene. Y/L/N and Prentiss go to where this latest victim was abducted and see if you can get anything from there. JJ your with me, setting up the evidence boards." Hotch directed.
"Let's do this." Emily said, getting up from her seat.
The team spent the day finding out new evidence and new possibilities. As they were about to go home for the night they sat in the meeting room going over the things they found out.
"Emily and I found out our latest victim was supposed to meet someone, like a date." Y/N said as she fiddled with her pen. "But the person never showed."
Emily nodded her head. "Customer parking is down an alley behind the building, the unsub could've blitz attacked and drugged the girls."
"Garcia, anything on the search?" Hotch asked, turning towards the woman in question.
"All I got were two activist groups and millions of names." She said, rubbing at her forehead.
"Alright. Guys go home, we'll come back tomorrow and look at this with fresh eyes." Hotch said before everyone got up and went to their desks to gather their things. Y/N smiled at Spencer as she held up her keys.
"Give you a ride home." She said before she mimicked Derek's voice. "Pretty boy."
Spencer chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. "Yes, I'll take your offer, but don't ever do that again." He joked as he walked over to her.
Y/N drove Spencer home, dropping him off at his apartment building with a kiss. Soon she arrived home, parked in her normal spot, and gather things before she let herself into the courtyard with her keycard. She looked through her keyring for her house key as she walked up to her door.
She stopped what she was doing with a smile, as she spotted a glass vase full of yellow red-tipped roses sitting in front of her door. She chuckled as she fished out her phone out and dialed Spencer's number as she reached to pull the notecard out with the hand holding her keyring, as she began reading it. She let out a squeal as she felt something press against her nose and mouth. She dropped everything she was holding to fight off her attacker.
"Y/N? Y/N?!" Spencer called over the phone hearing the struggle.
"I finally found you." Y/N heard in her ear as she felt her body go limp in her attacker's arms, succumbing to the drug. Her attacker lifted her body into his arms.
"Jason..." Y/N slurred out in the direction of her phone as her attacker pulled her badge and gun off her person. "Jason Dean... Spencie..." Y/N slurred again before she passed out.
"No one is going to save you, babe. I've got you now."  her attacker said as he stepped on her phone in his walk to his vehicle.
Spencer took a shaky breath and called Hotch after the line when dead. "Hotch, Something has happened to Y/N.
“Spill it, sister.” The way Hyunjin crossed his arms and tapped his foot impatiently reminded you of your mother when you were in high school, waiting for a confession after sneaking out to a party the night before with the guys.
Suddenly, the ramen hanging out of your mouth that linked to your chopsticks seemed one hundred times more interesting than looking at Jinnie. He was good at seeing through your lies but mostly because you were such a bad liar.
When your only response was a shrug, he let out an exaggerated sigh. “You’ve been acting sus for days now.”
“How?” You asked, still avoiding his gaze, sipping on your straw.
“Well, for starters, you’ve stopped pestering us about what happened at the party.” He eyed you up and down. “Did you remember?”
“Just that we watched a hot ass morning sex video.” You said wiggling your eyebrows. “Really, there’s nothing going on.”
That was a lie.
The only thing that was running through your mind most of the time these days was Changbin. Since that night you went to see him you couldn’t stop thinking about his touch. His skin. His lips. The way he tasted. Changbin got your number from Chan, but you were avoiding him. He wasn’t one to chase or push either, so when you didn’t reply to his first message he didn’t send another.
Chan already interrogated you about the night he walked in on you blowing Changbin, and asked why you haven’t talked to him. You could only assume Changbin told Chan you were ghosting him, and Chan knowing you like the back of his hand decided to mediate. You were grateful, because he never judged you for being an asshole or ghosting people. You were always like this and you had been told by many people that you were “too much”, but not Chan. That’s what made you love him and run to him. Even when you didn’t run to him because you were too self-conscious and didn’t want to annoy him, he’d go to you. Talking with Chan helped you realize you didn’t know anything at all and that it would all be okay regardless.
“You know what your problem is, (Y/N)?” Chan started two weeks after you went to see Changbin at his apartment.
“No, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me.” You were laying upside down on your couch, feet hanging over the backrest next to Chan who was sitting upright typing away on his laptop.
“You avoid thinking about your feelings. Instead of trying to face them head on and figure them out, you just run away.”
Ouch. The truth of his words stung.
“Just slap me next time will ya?” He rolled his eyes at your remark.
“I’m serious.” He closed his laptop placing it on the coffee table before giving you his full attention taking your hand in his as if you were a child. “Look, you know I love you. I care about you and I want to see you happy. That’s why we need to figure this out together. Tell me, when you look at Changbin, what do you feel?”
That was a tough question to answer. “Do I really have to think about that?” You whined.
“Yes.” He said sternly in his dad voice. “We’re going to figure this out together because if not you’re just going to continue this vicious cycle forever and I won’t stand by it.”
Sighing, you closed your eyes trying to find something, anything that you could put into words.
The image of seeing Changbin for the first in over a year at Seungmin’s house party at the start of summer came rushing back. You were sitting at the bar table in the wide living room of Seungmin’s mansion in a champagne slip dress and red lips talking your half tipsy ass off with your girl friend when she gasped at a hot guy who walked in. The place was overflowing with bodies, the heat made your skin slightly damp and the music was loud. There was a mixture of cigarette smoke and the smell of booze flowing in the air, basically it smelled like a good time.
“Who’s that hottie coming in with Felix?” She had asked shouting over the DJ and pointing at the door with her free hand, drink in the other.
Your heart had stopped and the smile you had plastered on your face slowly faded as you saw Changbin walk in, leather jacket, hood up, hat covering his features, but you knew it was him. He was scanning the crowed, high-fiving and bro hugging Seungmin and Minho as they found him. Minho had turned to find you amongst the crowd and nodded your way, Changbin found you but turned away. He never went up to you that night and you didn’t either.
“I feel sad.” You admitted, voice only slightly above a whisper.
“That’s good, (Y/N). That’s a good place to start.”
[three days later]
“Another party?”
Everyone was gathered around in your apartment eating your food and playing video games.
“Yeah, my parents are going overseas again so it’s the perfect time. I think we all could use a good old fashion house party.” Seungmin, respectable Virgo though he may be, was notorious for his house parties. He always had the best DJ’s, the best drinks and most importantly a big house.
“God knows we need to let loose, especially (Y/N).” Felix smirked over at you wiggling his eyebrows, blocking the pillow you threw at him.
“Besides, it’ll be funner this time since Changbin is back and we’ve been hanging out.” The room went quiet at Jeongin’s comment, just the video game sounding in the background “Oh… was I not suppose to say that?”
“Just focus on your game the grown ups are talking.” Hyunjin hushed the younger boy. “Everything is set to go we just need to go shopping.”
“We?” Everything sounded amazing except parties meant socializing, dressing up and being in public. You had a love hate relationship with parties, about as much as you had a love hate relationship with everything else in life.
[]
The weekend came faster than you could have hoped for and that mean the party did too. All you could think about was how you planned to avoid Changbin, though it shouldn’t be too hard in a house that big. You did it once before. The truth was, maybe you were scared to genuinely fall for him, just as he had said he was afraid of falling of falling for you. The only thing you knew how to do when you were unsure of anything was to run away.
Chan was right and you knew it. Your flight instinct was all you were good at but even you knew it would be your downfall eventually.
“Wear this. From your bestest friend in the whole wide world – Jinnie”
Hyunjin stopped by while you were in the shower and shouted a quick goodbye, reminding you to not be “late” to the party before rushing back out in less than a minute. You pulled your towel closer to your cold body before opening the top of the box and pulling out a really short, strappy, silk red slip dress.
“Does he want me to die of hypothermia?” you mumbled to yourself before doing your hair and make up. All the while constantly checking your phone to keep tabs on Chan’s eta. The best you could do was curl your hair and do some basic face makeup since you loved striking more with red lips rather than heavy eyes. Since the party had a rave vibe you opted for a way heavier highlight than normal and sprinkled a bit of body glitter along your collarbones and shoulders.
“(Y/N), I’m here !” Chan’s voice rang out as you heard him shuffling from the entrance to your room.
“Are you rea– damn girl, who are you?” He stopped dead in his tracks taking you in from head to toe.
“Fuck, this is too slutty right?” You turned from your long mirror to face Chan.The dress fit you well enough, but it was so short and low cut you thought your boobs would fall out at one wrong move, not that you had much to begin with, but this dress sure made it seem like you had a decent amount of cleavage. “Shit, I need to find something else to wear. I swear Hyunjin just wants to make me look like–”
“No! Don’t you dare, you look amazing, you are totally wearing that tonight. Just take a good coat so you don’t get sick.” Just like Chan to nag, you couldn’t help but laugh at his comment.
By the time you both made it to the party it was close to 10pm, definitely late. The taxi left you at the gate at the bottom of a small hill. Making your way up you were grateful you opted for a pair of black boots instead of heels. There were a lot of people making their way up to the house and people spilling out of the house as you got closer. The bass could be heard since you stepped out of the taxi and the closer you got the sounds of chatter, heavy laughter and shouting got louder. Crowds made you nervous but holding on to Chan’s arm made you feel better. After a few drinks you wouldn’t be as nervous or anxious. Alcohol had a way of numbing just about anything.
Stepping into the house the heat of bodies welcomed you, almost immediately encouraging you to take off your coat before handing it to Chan who in turn put it, along with his in the hallway closet. You were familiar enough with Seungmin’s house to be able to use certain areas of his place that would otherwise be deemed unappropriated for others.
“Welcome, welcome friends.” Seungmin said greeting you and Chan with a hug. Hyunjin and Felix followed close behind.
“Wow, (Y/N) that dress looks so much better than I imagined!” Hyunjin didn’t trust your sense of taste when it came to party or club attire so he had the habit of picking things up for you ever since you all started partying and clubbing together junior and senior year of high school.
Felix handed you a drink with a sympathetic look, maybe your nervous were louder on your face than you realized. You looked around the crowd trying to see if you could spot Changbin’s figure but by the looks of it he wasn’t here. Even though you were avoiding him, your heart still sank a little.
Get it together, you scolded yourself.
Before you knew it you found yourself on the dance floor passing between Hyunjin, Felix and a couple of strangers. Drinks and shots started to blur as your nervous melted and you started to feel slightly dizzy at the heat and bass filling your chest. The black lights made everything neon and colorful, there were even bubble machines that left residue of shimmer on everyone’s hair, face and body as they burst.
“Whoa– whoa!” Hyunjin shouted as you grinded your ass on a guy, making you laugh and push the stranger away before turning back to Hyunjin, throwing your arms around his neck and his hanging lazily on your hips. Felix had gone off somewhere, probably the bathroom. “Do you think Changbin will show up?”
You shrugged, not wanting to ruin the fun you were having. “Who knows.”
Eventually, you found yourself alone on the dance floor still as Hyunjin went to look for Felix, probably to do other things with him.
The vibrations of the song were filling you when you felt a pair of hands grab your waist letting you know someone was there, but you couldn’t see who since they were behind you. You let your body lean back into the stranger swaying to the song coming out of the loud speakers. He felt strong and warm though he reeked of weed which immediately turned you off, but you didn’t leave him enjoying his body instead.
“Let’s grab a drink.” The stranger said, grabbing your wrist and leading you off the dance floor, weaving you through the crowd. He wasn’t half bad looking, though, the thought came to you like second nature... but he wasn’t Changbin.
You leaned against the bar, letting the coolness of the marble run up the length of your arms, without thinking you placed your forehead down the bar top to cool off a bit. It felt good against your hot skin and the heat of the room.
“Here you go.” The stranger said handing you the drink with a cocky smile.
You thanked him raising the drink to your lips. He had a dark glint in his eyes that made you hesitate. “Fuck!” You shouted as someone grabbed the wrist you were holding your drink with, jerking it away.
“What the fuck did you put in this?” It was Changbin. You froze as he grabbed the glass out of your hand, still holding onto you. He shoved the glass in the guys face, “Drink it.”
“No way, I got that for her.” He said disgust in his voice, knocking the glass out of Changbin’s hand. It shattered on the floor, but you hardly heard a thing over the loud music that was playing. “What? Is she your bitch?”
“She’s not a bitch and what she is to me is none of your fucking business.” Changbin got between you and the guy, shoving his chest.
Fuck, this was not good. You desperately looked around for Chan or Jisung, anyone that could stop Changbin better than you could. You’d seen him in enough fights to know this wouldn’t end well. Of all the good qualities Changbin had, holding back was not one of them.
“What the fuck man, I was just trying to have a little fun.” The guy shoved Changbin back, though it didn’t have much effect since Changbin had a pretty solid build.
“’A little fun’ by what? By spiking a girls drink? You must be one desperate piece of shit if you can’t get a single girl to sleep with you of their own free will.” Changbin’s words made you go cold.
Did he spike your drink when you weren’t looking?
“No, it’s just funner when their helpless.” The guy retorted.
You could feel the rage boil up in Changbin and spill over seconds before he threw his fist connecting it with the guy’s jaw, sending him stumbling into a crowd. The guy couldn’t recover before Changbin grabbed him by the collar throwing him on the ground and shoving a knee into his chest hitting him again and again.
“You low life piece of shit, I hope you rot in hell.” He said between every punch.
Fuck, fuck, fuck where the hell was everyone when you needed them?! You desperately wanted Changbin to stop fighting. The fact that they had garnered a crowd of on lookers but no one was stepping in annoyed you.
“Changbin, stop!” You pleaded but when he didn’t respond you grabbed his arm just as he was bracing to throw it again, “Please, stop!”
Changbin tensed as he turned to face you, his eyes were scary.. on fire with rage. Your eyes must have been desperate because you could feel his anger slowly start to dissipate. For a moment it was as if everything went quiet and all you could hear was your breathing and heartbeat pounding in your ears.
The stranger seized the moment and opening to escape from under Changbin’s hold and book it into the crowd shoving a few people out of the way.
“Fuck.” Changbin mumbled watching the guy run off, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
He helped you to your feet before taking you by the hand and leading you around the bar and up the grand stairwell. His pace was a little faster than what you normally walked and with the alcohol running rampant in your veins you stumbled and struggled to keep up with him, but he didn’t seem to notice. He was gripping your hand so tight you knew even if you tripped enough to fall, he would catch you.
The hallway lead off to various rooms and people were piling around room entrances and playing various games from drinking games to board games. The bass still sounded throughout the house, but you could hear a little more clearly from up here.
“Get the fuck out,” Changbin pulled you into Seungmin’s room where two people were making out on his couch. “Now.” He ordered.
The couple glanced at each other but did as they were told, which was good on their part. Changbin was scary when he was mad. You were dreading whatever was about to happen because he pulled you away from the crowd probably to scold you for almost getting yourself drugged.
The couple left closing the door behind them leaving you in a dim lit room with Changbin angrily pacing back and forth.
“You are so reckless!” Changbin’s voice made you flinch. You know he didn’t mean to, but he still needed to learn how to control his anger. “Why would you take a drink from someone you don’t know?”
All you could do was wrap your arms around yourself and avoid Changbin’s eyes. You felt like you could melt under his gaze, or burn.
“There are bad guys out there, (Y/N), just waiting for you to let your guard down enough so they can take advantage of you.” He was saying it with good intentions but that still didn’t make you any less angry about it.
“So, what the hell am I suppose to do then? Just not go out? Not drink or have any fun?” Your argument was weak but you hated being pushed around. Especially by Seo Changbin.
“That’s not the point, (Y/N) and you know it.” He stopped pacing taking an abrupt step towards you, your back hit the wall. He took another step cornering you in.
From this close you could smell his cologne, warm and musky. His chest was rising higher than normal, his anger still evident in his eyes and the way he set his jaw. Damn he looks so hot... wait shut up this is not the right time, you tried shaking the thought away but Changbin hit the wall next to your head making you jump.
“Look at me.” His voice was strained.
“Make me.” You challenged, the words leaving your lips before you could filter them out as this is a really bad idea, don’t say that.
He grabbed your jaw fingers digging into your cheeks forcing you to meet his gaze. It annoyed you how much that turned you on, you squeezed your eyes shut trying to control your lust.
“Do you like it when I get rough with you, is that it?” Changbin squeezed a little tighter until you opened your eyes meeting his. Fuck, was all you could think.
“Maybe.” You replied raising an eyebrow. “Maybe I just want to see you go insane.”
His dark laugh made you tremble.
“You know what drives me insane?” He sneered, “The fact that we had one decent, open conversation and then you ghost me like a fucking stranger you met off Tinder.”
To be fair, you knew it was coming. You shoved him off, crossing the room before slumping down on the couch, kicking your boots off and crossing one leg over the other so you wouldn’t flash him by accident.
He watched you from across the room as you noticeably gathered your thoughts before starting, “I.. I didn’t mean to do that.”
Changbin threw his head back in disbelief laughing before angrily asking if you were serious. You didn’t reply which seemed to only set him off even more. He crossed the large room in three strides before sitting down on the coffee table right in front of you leaning forward, elbows on his knees, face resting in his hands; but you didn’t flinch or shrink away this time.
“Then why did you do that to me?” His voice was lower now, his eyes were closed as if he was struggling just to say those words. As if he was trying to hid the hurt that was laced in that question.
“Because I wanted you to feel the same hurt that I felt when you abandoned me.” The words stumbled out of your mouth again before you could stop them.
You both froze.
It’s not something you consciously had thought out, but as soon as you said it you realized that was it. That was the real reason you were avoiding him, you wanted to get back at him. You wanted him to feel the same pain and loneliness you did when he left. Of what could have been but wasn’t.
“That’s fair.” Changbin concluded before straightening his back. “I don’t blame you.”
You sized him up trying to find any trace that he was lying, but he seemed a little more relaxed now. His shoulders were slack, his breathing was normal, eyes serious.
“Really?”
He nodded. “There is one thing though.” He said placing his hand on your knee before pushing it off your other leg. “I haven’t repaid you for that one time at the apartment.”
Your eyes widened as he pushed your legs apart. “Wh–what are you doing?”
He smirked at your sudden shyness. “I told you. Paying you back.”
“No, no it’s okay, I swear, just don’t mention it.” You clumsily shot up before stepping a safe distance away suddenly cursing yourself for being barefoot.
He laughed with his whole chest before standing up straight. “Come on, you were not this shy sucking me off.”
Your cheeks were burning, you were positive your face was the same color as your dress. Changbin made his way over to you, pushing your hair back behind your shoulder. The closeness of his body, the way his eyes made trails down your neck and collarbones made you tremble again, you tried crossing your arms to keep yourself still.
He noticed you shaking.
“Hey, (Y/N), it’s really okay if you don’t want to. I would never do anything you weren’t comfortable with.” His voice was soft, worried.
“It’s not that,” You trailed off averting your gaze. “It’s just I’ve never been... You know.”
“Never what?” He raised his eyebrow in that way that said, I don’t believe you,”I know you’re not a virgin.”
You rolled your eyes and scoffed, “Of course not, I mean the,” You flailed with your hand trying to get the point across without explicitly saying it, “I’ve never.. you know.”
Realization dawned on his features, “Oh... you’ve never been eaten out?”
“Fuck, yes, Changbin. That. God.” The fact that he said it out loud made you even more shy.
“You’re so cute when you’re flustered.” He said before pinching your cheek and biting his lip.
“This room’s taken.” Changbin called as a couple walked in barely keeping each other on their feet. He shoved them out before closing and locking the door behind them.
“Changbin!” You squeaked as he rushed back over to you, picking you up off the ground and carrying you to the bed before tossing you easily on it. There was a mischievous glint in his eyes, one you hadn’t seen in a very long time.
“Who let you wear this dress?” He asked pulling at it teasingly; undressing you with his eyes.
“Jinnie bought it for me.” You replied. He took off his jacket, the sleeves of his black shirt were cut off revealing his biceps. “Been working out?” You asked not hiding your want anymore.
“Like what you see?” Changbin asked before pulling your legs towards him so your bum was at the end of the mattress.
You nodded, biting the tip of your finger as you gazed up at him. He ran his hands up your calves and thighs before tugging you a little closer to the edge.
“When did you get so buff?” You asked half teasing. He raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, you know just looking out for my health.”
“Sure.” You rolled your eyes laughing.
There was silence as Changbin took you in again, staring down at you, his face unreadable as always. “Would it be okay if we forgot everything for a little while?”
His words made you catch your breath in your chest. Your fingertips grazed his hands on your thighs, slowly back and forth before nodding hesitantly, “That sounds fun” You breathed.
Changbin smiled before slipping his hands under your dress and slowly pulled down your lacy black panties. He got on his knees and spread your legs open, the motion made you squeeze your eyes shut squeaking in the process, covering your face with your hands.
“Ah, what? Don’t tell me you’re still shy.” Changbin laughed before placing small kisses on the inside of your thighs, switching between the two. There was a soft romantic song playing in the distance, so you tried to focus on it to calm your increasing heartbeat as Changbin kissed and sucked small spots on your sensitive skin.
His breath was warm as were his lips and his hands felt like they were burning on your thighs. It wasn’t long until you felt your body longing for more of him. He noticed the way your breathing started to come slightly quicker, the way your legs started to unconsciously shake with want and desire. He saw the way you bit your lip trying to keep yourself from making any sound, and the way you covered your eyes with your arm, hand clenched into a fist.
He smirked wanting to make you break.
“Oh, my god.” You breathed as you felt his tongue trace along your folds. You trembled at his warm touch. He liked the way you looked from this point of view and the way you tasted on his tongue.
His mouth found your clit and you let out a “Fuck,” as he drew circles with his tongue, the sensation sending waves of pleasure that you had never felt before. It was so much better than touching yourself. He went between licking you up and circling your clit occasionally sucking on it making you whimper.
“That feels so so good,” Your hands found their way into his hair pushing it out of his eyes, he looked sexy from here.
“I’m glad you like it,” He hummed still at your core, the vibrations of his voice against your clit making you shake.
You could feel the heat starting to rise, the way that familiar knot was forming in your core.
But suddenly, you remembered the guy on the dance floor. The way he smelled of weed, the way he pushed his body against your back. The way he lead you off the dance floor and handed you the drink. The drink you almost drank, the one he drugged to...
The sensation hit you like a truck after a few minutes and you could feel the pleasure start to change into something else, your breathing was coming out faster and heavier. The walls of the room started to close in and you felt like you might pass out. Your thighs were trembling and Changbin had to hold them open to keep you from trying to close them.
“Changbin I– I– fuck, I–,” you couldn’t form a coherent sentence and panic started to rise in your chest. There were black dots starting to dance across your vision, you felt claustrophobic, “Shit, it’s really heavy. Changbin, please,”
 “Please what?” He asked, noticing panic in your voice. But you couldn’t speak all you could do was clench his hair making him stop.
“I– I need to catch my breath.” Fuck why were you panicking now. You sat up clenching your chest trying to focus your breathing. Changbin was sitting back on his knees, he grabbed your face between his hands trying to get you to focus on him.
“Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay just look at me. Focus on me.” His eyes and voice were calm but you felt a small part of you unraveling. Your chest hurt from how hard you were trying to breath, you tried closing your eyes but Changbin got your attention again, “No, (Y/N) look at me, keep focusing on me. I’m here. I’m real.”
Your eyes desperately searched his face trying to center yourself.
“The guy fro–from be–before, I– I’m having a p–anic attack,” You chocked out trying to at least tell him what was happening. It wasn’t the first time he saw you panic, but it had been a very long time.
“Okay, baby, don’t worry I’m right here. Just breathe. Can you tell me five things you can see? Come on, just five little things.” You could only see a small glint of desperation in his eyes.
“H–hair,” You chocked out looking at his dark hair, “Eyes,” His eyes that felt like home...
“That’s great, baby, really great. Three more. Just tell me three more little things you see.” Changbin encouraged, hands warm against your cheeks.
“Nose” that you loved to pinch when you would tease him in high school, “Cheeks,” they were flushed, “Lips,” they were soft and still wet from eating you out, your eyes stayed there.
“Great. Now four things you can touch.”
Your breathing was still heavy but you were a tiny bit calmer. You touched the bed for a few seconds, your dress, his hair and his hands on your face.
“Three things you can hear.” He continued calmly, voice like honey.
You concentrated, “rain, piano, your breathing.”
“Two things you can smell.”
“Beer and... your cologne.” Your eyes were closed but you were almost in complete control again.
“That’s amazing baby, now tell me one thing you can taste,”
“Dos XX.” You opened your eyes, he was smiling softly. “Damn it, Changbin I’m so sorry.”
You felt so guilty for freaking out like that. It was something that was out of your control but you still felt guilty and week for letting it overtake you like that. Especially now of all moments.
Changbin stayed on his knees looking up at you. You felt so embarrassed. Why did that have to happen now, you cursed yourself again. It had been months since your last panic attack but something about the way that guy tried to drug you made you lose your mind.
You pulled Changbin’s arm tugging him to join you on the bed. “Can you hug me for a bit, please?”
He chuckled before kicking off his shoes and climbing onto the bed. He pulled your body back with him as he sat up right against the headboard. His arms were wrapped tightly around your waist as you settled between his legs. He rested his chin on your shoulder half mumbling half singing the lyrics to I will follow you into the dark and swaying you gently. You closed your eyes relaxing against his chest, feeling the vibrations as he sang the sweet words into your ear. You felt at home in his arms, they were strong and safe. Like a fortress.
After a while of being like this you shifted in his embrace enough to where you could look up at him.
“What?” He asked half worried half smiling.
“Thank you for saving me. Or well, not saving me but you know... saving me. I didn’t realize the guy was a total scumbag. I should have been more careful.” You looked down fiddling with your fingers.
Changbin was quiet for a long time before responding. “If you let me be near you again, I promise I will always keep you safe.”
You met his gaze again. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, yes, I like you. A lot, actually. But I understand if you don’t want to be with me in that way or at least not right now, but it would be really great if we could try being friends again.. like before.”
Like before.
That’s all you had ever wanted. Was to go back to how things had been before, but you weren’t sure if that was even possible anymore. So much at had changed, everything was different. You were different.
“Can we go back to forgetting everything... Just for a little while longer?” You asked placing your hand on his neck, pulling his lips down to yours. You felt tired from the panic attack, but you need to feel something. Something that would replace the fear.
“Are you sure this is okay?” Changbin asked, he was hesitating against your lips.
You nodded pulling him into a kiss, your hands getting lost in his hair. Everything seemed to rush, the way your teeth teased his lips and his yours. The way you shifted yourself to lay down on your back pulling Changbin on top of you as you did. The way his hands slipped under your dress feeling your cold skin, and yours tugging his shirt desperately. You pulled the shirt over his head tossing it to the side before he went back to your lips shoving his tongue into your mouth. You could still taste yourself on his tongue and you blushed.
“I really want you to fuck me.”
Changbin chocked at your comment before laughing, “Damn, you can be really bold sometimes. I like it.”
He wasted no time unbuckling his belt buck, he looked so sexy doing it biting his lip, he knew what he could do to you. Changbin discarded the rest of his clothes and pulled your dress off surprised to see you weren’t wearing a bra.
“What?” You teased.
“Nothing, you’re just really hot.” His lips were hot on your chest, trailing down your stomach and back up again. His hands massaging your boobs before taking one in his mouth, he nibbling on your nipple the sensation making you whimper.
You pulled him by his hair back up to your lips, your legs wrapping around his bare waist pulling his naked body to yours.
“If you make me wait any longer I’m going to go crazy,” You whined pouting at Changbin making him laugh. “Oh, fuck,” he said shaking his head, “I don’t have a condom, I forgot my wallet at home...” At this point you were so turned on you just wanted to hit him, but you needed him so desperately.
“It’s okay, I’m on the pill. Either way, I trust you.” You looked at him as you consented, before pulling his body closer to yours. The tip of his throbbing cock was teasing your entrance and you whined pushing your hips to get closer to him.
Changbin tsked, “You’re so impatient baby girl.”
“I need you, I don’t want to feel afraid anymore.” You didn’t care that the words sounded dumb or selfish, it was the truth.
“You don’t need to be afraid with me around.” He hummed into your neck brushing his head against your cheek, his hair was soft and smelled of mint. “I’ll keep you safe.” his words gave you chills.
“I know that, Changbin.” You didn’t, but you wanted to.
He slowly pushed his tip into your entrance making you squeeze your eyes shut.
“Look at me,” Changbin said grabbing your jaw in the way that was starting to feel familiar. “I want you to know that it’s me, that it’s me and no one else.”
You picked up on what he was hinting at, because there were things he noticed that you didn’t. Like what may or may not trigger another panic attack. He was right, so you kept your eyes open, watching as his face scrunched up as he pushed himself into your pussy stretching you out.
“Oh, fuck that’s tight.” He groaned, voice raspy and deep. “Fuck.”
He waited for you to adjust before continuing to move slowly in and out. You were still slick from before, so even though he filled you up it felt so good. The way he kissed your neck, and left love marks made you whine and tell him how much you had always wanted to do this.
“How many times have you thought about fucking me?” He asked, sitting back on his knees and pulling your waist higher to fuck you at a better angle. These types of positions always made you a little self conscious since he had a full frontal view, but you felt safe under his gaze.
“Too many to count.” You admitted laughing before moaning as he picked up the pace in time to the song that was playing downstairs. The friction felt like heaven and you felt the butterflies in your stomach start to turn into little knots. “Have you ever thought about fucking me?”
“Since the day I met you,” Changbin confessed between moans. “Fuck (Y/N) you feel so fucking good.”
“Changbin,” You moaned his name, eyes rolling back shut. You arched your back slightly as he pounded into you, the increased pace was making you feel hotter. “Fuck, if I would have known you were this good I would have asked you to fuck me sooner.”
He laughed at your vulgar comment, “Where? Like at the hide out?” He slammed into you again making you curse, your walls starting to clench around his cock.
“Yeah, that would have been really fun.” You found his hand and squeezed it. “Shit, I’m getting really close.” “Don’t worry baby you can cum whenever you want.” His words made you go crazy, and he praised you telling you how well you were doing. He pulled your legs up over his shoulder and bottoming you out with each and every thrust.
“Changbin, don’t stop.” You moaned as the sound of his skin slapping yours echoed louder and louder, Changbin’s breathing was hitching and you knew he was about to cum too. “Fuck,” The knots in your stomach turned into heatwaves as you released onto Changbin, he slammed into you harder and faster the friction making you see stars.
“Fuck, I’m gonna cum!” Changbin moaned your name as he came in you, his hot white liquid filling you up and you loved the way it felt. “Shit.”
He fell on your chest letting your legs rest on either side of him, you both struggled to catch your breath but the sound was sweet in your ears. Changbin kept telling you how beautiful you looked in this mess and how amazing you felt. You ran your fingers through his wet hair, admiring his beautiful features as he rested on your chest.
“Hands down,” Changbin breathed, swallowing his spit to hydrate his dry throat, “My favorite.”
You waited for him to finish his thought but he didn’t.
“Your favorite what?” You probed, putting your arm on your forehead still coming down from your high.
“Oh, my favorite sex round.” He said still breathing heavy, laughing. The sound echoing in your chest.
“Yeah, it was pretty fucking amazing.” You agreed. Changbin pulled himself out of you slowly before settling next to you pulling you close. You rested your head on his chest hearing his heartbeat return to normal, the sound bringing you peace.
His hand traced the curve of your waist, and he did that for long time.
Eventually you both fell asleep and sometime through the night, decided to just keep sleeping getting comfortable under the covers and Changbin’s skin pressed against yours.
It was the first night in a long time where you felt like you actually rested well. The morning light woke you and for a few seconds you started to panic, until you saw Changbin’s sleeping face next to yours. Then you remembered the night before, and the amazing things you felt. You calmed your heart and snuggled back into his chest.
“Mm?” he mused lightly.
“Shh, sorry for waking you.” You whispered wrapping your arms around him tightly. He chuckled and fell back asleep in seconds.
That was until Seungmin walked through the door and started yelling every curse word in the book, “What the fuck do you guys think you’re doing in my bed. Wait, fuck, what the hell did you guys do in my bed? Don’t tell me you fucking had sex in my bed that is so fucking gross. Ew! I hate you guys, we’re not friends anymore, get the hell out of my house and wash the damn sheets before you leave I’m telling Chan on you guys..” Seungmin stormed out of the room continuing his rant.
You and Changbin exchanged looks before bursting out laughing.
“I really hope this doesn’t turn into an everyday thing when we have sex.” Changbin said whipping a tear from his eye from laughing so hard. First Chan and now Seungmin.
You prayed to the gods the same thing.
Beautiful People
Paring(s): Pedro Pascal/Female Reader
Words: 5,378
Warnings: Angst with a Happy Ending, Anxiety Disorder, Medication Discussions, Insecurities, and Panic Attacks.
You and Pedro have been secretly dating for a few months now after a chance meeting. You both agreed that it was time to reveal your relationship to the public and chose to do so by accompanying him at The Oscars, but your anxiety does a great job of making you think that you don't deserve it.
DISCLAIMER!
Tumblr media
This story is based on the song Beautiful People by Ed Sheeran & Khalid, but this IS NOT a songfic. It just gave me this vibe of Pedro walking down the red carpet with someone who doesn't quite feel like they belong and he comforts her by saying he doesn't really belong either and proceeds to list why they're better off because of it. I dunno, It just sounded sweet.
As always, comments are welcomed and encouraged.
You can also follow me on Twitter if you'd like. My life is boring, but I might be able to make you laugh if I’m lucky.
Enjoy!
(PS: Pepe is a real person. He was my Spanish teacher my first semester of college... and yes, he really went to Cincinnati every Friday to gamble)
My Masterlist
The frigid February air was like icicles on your skin, sending a full-blown shiver down your spine as you hurried out of the Science building and towards the dining hall. It was nearly noon and you’ve had only had a banana and a bottle of water this morning, so lunch sounded pretty great right about now… maybe a cup of hot cocoa as well.
The dining hall was about a three-minute walk from the Science building, more than enough time for the cold to seep through the layers of your coat and deep into your bones. The possibility of a cup of cocoa turned into an inevitability, you running for the hot beverage machine as soon as your student ID was swiped.
You sat at your usual spot, hanging your backpack on the back of the chair before taking a greedy sip of the hot drink. The warmth was a godsend, the sugary beverage warming your icy hands with a pleasant hum tumbling from your lips.
“You make noises like that in bed?” Someone asked, snapping you out of your warming daze. It was your roommate and closest friend, Lauren. You snorted at her remark, almost spitting out a sip of your drink.
“I thought you had Spanish class at noon?”
“Nah. It’s Friday, remember?”
“Oh yeah, gambling day.” Like you, Lauren was a music student. It was how you had met nearly four years ago. Like most music students, you both used the extra humanities credits you had earned in high school to bail you out of the required foreign language credit until university. You were doing fairly well so far, but it was because you had a decent teacher. She wasn’t the best, but she was alright.
Lauren’s was just… something else.
On the first day of class, he told his students to call him “Pepe” because he didn’t do the “formal shit.” He also said that there would never be a class on Friday’s because he goes up to Cincinnati to gamble with his buddies. Why he didn’t just put down that his classes were only on Monday and Wednesday were beyond you.
“Yeah. Whatever, though right?” Lauren continued. “I’m not complaining about one less day of class.” You smirked mischievously.
“No, but your Spanish is…” Lauren scoffed, only causing you to laugh harder into your cup.
“Bitch, you shut the fuck up. You can’t speak the damn language either.” You shrugged.
“You’re not wrong, but at least I’m learning more than you are with Pepe.” Lauren groaned.
“Fuck you. Come on, let’s grab some grub.” You stood up and grabbed your backpack, throwing away your empty drink cup to grab something to eat. You settled on your usual favorite and sat back down with Lauren who had somehow already made it halfway through her plate.
“God, slow down.” You teased as you hung your backpack back on the chair.
“I didn’t eat breakfast this morning. Cut a bitch a break.” You shook your head, digging into your own plate, but at a much slower pace. You both sat in comfortable silence, enjoying your meals as the indecent chatter of the surrounding students and meme music playing from the jukebox continued on.
“So,” Lauren said, breaking the silence as she sat down her drink. “What are you doing this weekend?” You froze at her question but played it off the best you could. Any hint of hesitation would send her into a frenzy of questions that you weren’t prepared to answer.
“I’m going in to see Mom. Maybe stop by my Mamaw’s too.” Lauren’s shoulders slumped.
“Damn, that’s too bad. Devon invited us over to his Oscar watch party tomorrow night. Figured you might want to come along since you’re into that sort of thing.”
You swallowed hard at the mention of The Oscars. Just play it cool… don’t. fucking. panic.
“Normally I would, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen Mom. You know how she gets when I don’t come to visit for a while.” Lauren nodded her head in understanding, knowing full well of how your Mom was after living with you for two years.
Little did she know that you had just seen your mother last weekend.
“I understand, boo. I’ll let him know you can’t make it. When are you leaving?”
“As soon as I’m done here. I packed my stuff this morning so I could just go. Trying to beat the traffic as much as possible.” She nodded in understanding.
“Well, I hope you have a good time with your Mom. Say hi to her for me, will you?” You internally sighed a breath in relief. How your big mouth managed to keep him a secret all this time let alone this was beyond you, but you managed to pull it off somehow.
“Yeah, sure.”
After you finished eating, you hugged Lauren goodbye and went back to your dorm long enough to drop off the books you didn’t need and pick up your suitcase. You went through your mental checklist one last time and locked your door behind you as you left.
You unlocked your car and threw your stuff into the backseat, making your way towards the interstate as soon as you left the college.
Home was about a two or three-hour drive down south, but where you were really going was about a 40-minute drive north. You put on some music as you cruise down the interstate, your nervousness slowly increasing the closer you got to your destination.
Your hands shook on the steering wheel, you bounced your left knee furiously, and you were biting your lip… pretty hard. You thought about reaching into your purse for the “take as needed” anxiety medication your psychiatrist prescribed you but decided to hold off on it a little longer. Maybe it’d taper off when you got to the airport.
It didn’t.
You had flown before, but that had been years ago when your micro home town had some kind of festival thing and gave free airplane rides. This commercial airline stuff was something entirely new to you which was already nerve wreaking, but the unexpected bustle of such a smaller airport made it worse.
Weeks before when you first booked the flight to Los Angles, you did as much research as possible to make sure that you knew the “norms” and guidelines of all the airports you were going to since there were no direct flights available. You were as prepared as anyone could be, but you were still extremely nervous and all the foot traffic only made it worse.
You went through security without any qualms and took a seat to wait for your flight to begin boarding. You pulled out your phone and texted your Mom and Lauren before someone walked up to you in your peripheral.
“Excuse, miss?” You looked up from your phone to come face to face with an older gentleman. He looked to be in his early 50’s with salt and peppered hair and a kind smile. He asked you your name and you confirmed with a nod.
“Sorry to disturb you, but your private flight is prepared to depart whenever you’re ready, Miss.”
...Excuse you, what?
“P-Private flight? But I-... I paid for an American Airlines flight.” The man nodded.
“Yes, but Mr. Pascal has sent a private jet to retrieve you. He was fairly insistent to make sure that you boarded.” You sighed heavily. You told him that a two-stop economy flight that you paid for was more than fine, but the thought of you doing anything like a normal person seemed to bother him for some reason.
“Okay. I-I guess I’m ready to go then.” The man smiled.
“Of course, Miss. May I take your bags for you?” You hesitated.
You had never been waited on like this before and you weren’t quite sure how to feel or respond to it. You were perfectly capable of carrying your own stuff and this guy probably wasn’t getting paid enough to carry some lucky college student’s stuff, but was it rude to say no even if you did so in a polite manner? So, you just agreed and handed him over your suitcase and backpack.
You followed him outside and over to a small commercial jet, a woman who looked to be around her mid 30’s standing right by the entrance of the aircraft.
“Welcome aboard, Miss. I’m Kendall Bishop and I’m your captain for today. If you’ll go ahead and take a seat and buckle your seat belt, we’ll depart shortly. I do ask, however, that you remain seated and keep your seat belt fastened until Mr. Clements informs you that it is safe to move about the cabin. Do you have any questions for me before we begin our descent?”
You smiled politely at her and shook your head.
Upon entering the cabin, you were at a complete loss for words. It was easily the fanciest thing you’d ever seen. Leather seats, stocked alcohol shelves, an endless assortment of snacks, a TV, even a fucking bed of all things. The man, Mr. Clements you assumed, gestured towards the seat closest to you. You sat down and buckled your seat belt like you were told to do.
Mr. Clements then reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope, gesturing for you to take it.
“Mr. Pascal requested I hand this to you as soon as you board.” You took the envelope out of his hands, looking down at it with a curious gaze. On the back of it had your name scribbled onto it in familiar handwriting. You’d know it anywhere after reading so many letters from him.
“Please enjoy your flight and let us know if there’s anything we can do for you.” You thanked him with another nod, turning the envelope around and tearing it open. The plane prepared to take off as you read.
Mi Abeja,
I know you wanted and paid for a normal flight, but the academy offered to fly you to me privately last second. I was going to ask you if you were okay with it, but you were in class and your phone was off and I had to let them know something before my table read this morning. You work and study so hard and deserve to be pampered so I told them yes. They reimbursed what you paid for your ticket and I’ll give that to you once you get here.
I hope the unexpected change didn’t spike your anxiety too much. I know you’re nervous about this whole thing to begin with and I probably just made it worse. I’m sorry if I did.
 I’ll be there to pick you up as soon as you land at LAX.
Love you,
Pedro. <3 <3
Your heart soared at his words, leaning back in your seat and looking out of the nearby window just in time to watch the plane lift up from the runway.
________________________
Four hours later, Mr. Clements informed you that you would be landing shortly. Your heart leaped up in your chest as you put your phone back into your backpack and fastened your seat belt.
It had been a few weeks since you’d last seen him and you were nearly vibrating with excitement by the time the wheels touched down on the runway. Mr. Clements offered to take your things again. You still weren’t sure if it was rude to turn him down or not and you didn’t want to ask and risk looking like a moron, so you agreed and handed over your backpack.
The captain opened up the door and exchanged pleasantries with you as you stepped off the plane, but you barely heard her over the pounding of your own heart. As soon as you looked up from the ramp, you saw him. He was there just like he promised he’d be, standing by his car and wearing his favorite pair of sunglasses all while smiling at you with that blinding smile.
Your sneakers barely touched the tarmac before you were sprinting for him. He held out his arms for you and made a small sound when you collided with him, wrapping your arms around his neck and laying your head on his chest. One of his hands caressed the back of your head, holding you to him tightly as the other one held on to your waist.
“I’ve missed you so much, Abeja.” He muttered against the crown of your head. You let go of him long enough to reach up and kiss him, tangling your hand into his dark curls. “Did you have a good flight?” He asked after you pulled away.
“I did. I was a little nervous at first, but I’m okay now.” Pedro gave you a saddened look.
“I’m sorry. I know it was unexpected and didn’t mean to hike you up, I just figured yo-” You put your hand over his mouth.
“It wasn’t your fault, Pedro. I’m just… not used to this… any of it.” He placed a gentle kiss to your fingers, taking your wrist into his hand and gently taking it off of his mouth.
“Please tell me you at least ate something.“ You nodded.
“I ate with Lauren before I left for the airport. She actually invited me to an Oscar watch party this guy named Devon is hosting. I played it cool just like we practiced, but it took everything in me not to freak out.” Pedro giggled, pressing a kiss to your nose.
“Isn’t she in for a surprise?” You barely smiled, nodding gently. You’ve been trying not to think about it, but the idea of you being on display to the entire world made your stomach churn and your knees weak. You were just a first-generation college student from the middle of nowhere, yet here you are in the arms of Pedro Pascal about to walk down the runway of the most prestigious award show in less than 24 hours.
“... Yeah.” You eventually answered. Pedro noticed the change in your demeanor and frowned, placing a kiss on the wrist he was still holding and caressing it gently with his thumb.
“We don’t have to go through with this if you don’t want to, you know? We can always go with plan B.” You shook your head vigorously.
“No, no, no! I-I want people to know… I just… all so new.” Pedro smiled at you sympathetically, brushing a stray piece of hair away from your face.
“Just promise you’ll let me know if it ever becomes too much for you. I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s going on.” You look up into his mocha gaze, the butterflies in your stomach making you forget about your self-doubt if only for a few seconds.
“I promise.”
That evening you were curled up with Pedro in the hotel bed, empty take-out containers discarded onto the nearby nightstand as you watched The Shining together. He was fully engrossed in the movie, his fingers idly playing with your hair. You had tried to focus on the movie. You really did, but you’ve seen the damn thing a million times. Laughing at memes on Reddit sounded more appealing so that’s what you were doing.
“You know, I really miss you when you’re not with me.” Pedro said after a while. You looked up from your phone and up at his face.
“I miss you too. Music school sucks and I can’t cuddle Lauren… well, I can but it would be awkward.” Pedro laughed, caressing your cheek with his knuckle.
“Tomorrow, our stylists will be here around noon. I know you’re going to be nervous all day and will probably avoid eating, so I’m going to make sure you get up with me and eat a proper breakfast.” You groaned quietly.
“You won’t let me sleep in? Even on a Saturday?” You fake-pouted. Pedro tapped your nose gently with his finger.
“Not when tomorrow is such an important day. I don’t want you nervous on an empty stomach.” You both went back to what you were doing for a minute.
“You did bring your medication, didn’t you?” You hesitated before nodding.
“Yes.”
“Good. You’ll have something in case it gets too intense. Getting you to take it will be another story, though.” You didn’t say anything, favoring instead to raise up from your reclined position to swing your leg over his waist to straddle him. His hands instantly went to your hips, gently caressing them with his large hands.
“You’re so beautiful, Abeja.” He said after a while of looking you over and running his hands over your body. You smiled at him and leaned down to give him a kiss. It was pretty standard as far as kisses go, but when you pulled away you were both looking at one another with a fiery intent and slowly went back in for another. This one searing and far more passionate.
Pedro groaned deep in his throat as your tongues collide, the kiss deepening far beyond your original intent.
You weren’t complaining.
Pedro’s alarm going off scared the living hell out of you. You had been awake since 4 am, trying your best to go back to sleep, but it just never happened. When you finally gave up around 6:30, you grabbed your backpack and sat at the desk the hotel provided and did your weekend homework. You hadn’t realized that you were that engrossed in it until his alarm buzzed you out of it.
He groaned quietly and reached over to silence it, rolling back over and reaching out to the other side of the bed looking for you. When he noticed that you were gone, he raised up from the sheets and looked around the room. His hair was an absolute nightmare, sticking up in various directions as he stretched out his back and yawned loudly.
“Thought you wanted to sleep in.” He teased after he found you at the desk.
“You said you were going to wake me up early. Figured I might get some work done.” Concern then donned on his brow.
“Honey, how long have you been up?”
“Not long,” you lie. “I wanted to get some work done so I just got up at my usual time.” Pedro got out of bed and padded over to you, rubbing your shoulders and placing a kiss atop your head.
“You work too hard. You should take a break while you can.” You lolled your head back, Pedro’s hands rubbing your shoulders feeling absolutely amazing.
“I’ll do whatever you say as long as you keep doing that.” He laughed, kissing your cheek and heading to the bathroom.
You didn’t want to question the professional, you really didn’t. But after the third layer of concealer, you just had to.
“That’s a lot of concealer.” The makeup artist laughed.
“I know, I’m sorry. Use some cream for those bags next time and I promise you won’t need as much.”
You didn’t speak after that, allowing the hair and makeup artist to finish you up while they gossiped back and forth with each other. They made other side comments like that to you here and there. They weren’t necessarily rude so you couldn’t really say anything, but they did little for your already rock-bottom self-esteem.
The artist put a dark shade of lipstick on your lips, making a triumphant noise when she finished.
“Didn’t have the best canvas, but you look fabulous sweetheart! Smile with your mouth closed and you’ll be a knockout!” The makeup artist and hairstylist gathered up their things, leaving you sitting there in your robe staring at the floor and hoping they leave fast.
When they finally left, you got up from the bed and walked over to the full-bodied mirror. You showed your teeth and started looking over them. You never thought they looked too bad. Sure, they were crooked and had some spacing, but they were okay. Braces were expensive and playing a brass instrument with braces is a death sentence for lips.
What if you were wrong about them looking okay all this time? Maybe you should have taken out that loan and a semester off to fix your teeth…
Your stylist came in shortly after. He was quieter than the others had been and much nicer which you were thankful for as you changed into the white dress they had picked for you. When you came out, the stylist smiled and hooped.
“You look gorgeous!” You finished off your look with matching jewelry and a clutch purse, sitting down on the bed to put on your heels.
“It took me forever to find a pair of acceptable wedges for you, sweetheart. I don’t know why you didn’t just tough it out for one night, but hey. I get it. Country girls don’t like heels and that’s okay! It worked out.”
Again, not necessarily rude… but damn.
You were waiting in the lobby for Pedro to come out, bouncing your leg nervously and trying to remember not to touch your eyes or bite your lip because of the makeup. When you saw him step off the elevator, your breath caught in your throat. His hair was slicked back and his facial hair neatly trimmed, the black velvet suit hugging his broad shoulders perfectly.
“Wow…” He muttered, looking you up and down. “You look absolutely stunning, Abeja.”
“You don’t look so bad yourself.” You replied, playing with his bow tie.
“Hey, hey, no. Don’t touch it. I don’t know how to tie it back if it comes loose.” You laughed and shook your head.
“Fine… I’ll unwrap my present later.” Pedro’s own breath caught as you winked up at him. He cleared his throat and composed himself, offering you his arm.
“Ready?” You swallowed and nodded, taking his arm for him to escort you.
“As ready as I’ll ever be, I guess.”
You were in line for the red carpet, the flashing cameras of the paparazzi already blinding and you were still pretty far back. Your stomach churned, a wave of nausea rising up but nothing happening. Pedro took your shaking hand into his and squeezed it gently.
“You okay?” He asked, noticing how tense you were and only grew worse the closer you got.
“... fine.”
“Plan B’s still an option if you need it, Abeja. You have your medicine you can take too.” You shook your head, looking back at him to flash him a smile.
“I’m good.” You could tell that he didn’t buy your bullshit. Not even for a moment. He didn’t say anything, though, opting only to lift your hand and press a kiss to the back of it.
“I’ll be right there beside you the entire time, honey. If at any point you feel uncomfortable or need to leave, you let me know.” You nodded at him, accepting a kiss from him before looking back out the window of the limo.
Your turn came up way sooner than you would have liked, the greeter opening up the limo door as soon as the car stopped and allowing Pedro to step out into the public eye. The photographers went nuts, the flashing lights and screams from fans intimidating you more than you thought they would.
What the fuck were you thinking? You’re just some tired ass music student. You don’t belong here with all these people.
You almost chickened out and stayed in the car but when Pedro turned towards you and offered his hand you took it anyway even though your mind was screaming for you not to. Just the gentle touch of his calloused hand on yours grounded you enough to carefully step out of the limo, making sure that nothing happens to your dress.
You could hear the sounds of the crowd die down for a moment as they all started muttering to themselves. Your hand was shaking in Pedro’s larger one, the photographers gasping as soon as they saw your face. They started taking pictures faster than they ever had. The bombardment of flashing lights blinded you for a moment, but you adjusted to them quickly.
Pedro let go of your hand and put it on your back, gently leading you where you’re supposed to go.
“Okay?” He asked as he wrapped his arm around you and brought you close. You nodded. You weren’t comfortable in the slightest, but it wasn’t the worst thing ever. While both of you posed for pictures, people from the group of photographers said a lot of things to both of you. Some were kind, others were funny and got a good laugh out of you. There were also a few who were very rude, but they had been pushed aside by the others.
Overall, it wasn’t nearly as bad as you were expecting… but you were glad it was over.
________________________
You were standing aside checking your phone while Pedro did an interview with some of the press. He had offered you to be with him, but the red carpet had been more than enough fame for you. Your phone was on “do not disturb” mode, but you could still see all the notifications coming in. Your Mom, Dad, Lauren, and other friends bombarding you with messages basically asking what the fuck. You didn’t have the time to reply, so you didn’t open any of them.
Once Pedro was done with his interviews, he escorted you into the main hall where he introduced you to some of his friends and colleagues along the way. You considered it an honor to meet the people most only ever dreamed of, but you knew you didn’t deserve it. Someone else should be here, not you.
When you found your seats, Pedro offered you his hand. You took it and allowed him to seat you before he took his next to you and wrapped his arm around the back of the seat. The show started shortly after.
________________________
“And the Oscar goes to…” You held onto Pedro’s hand tightly as they opened up the envelope, your shaking hands encased in his. He had told you when he had been nominated that he didn’t expect to win it, but you could tell he had some hope as he tensely watched them read the card.
“Pedro Pascal.” You jumped up with Pedro, hugging him tightly as the audience broke out in cheers.
“You deserve it!” You told him, breaking away to give him a quick kiss. You watched him run up stage and accept the golden statue, walking up to the microphone with a few chuckles as he looked over the award.
“Wow, this is uhhh… this is incredible. Truly amazing.” He started. “I’d like to thank the Academy for this honor, my Mom and Dad who worked hard to raise me right and who supported me. My brother and two sisters for being there for me, mi Abeja for loving me unconditionally, and just… so many others. There are so many people in my life who have helped me get to this milestone and if I were to thank all of you, we’d be here all night. I love you all so very much and this truly… a dream come true. Thank you.
The crowd stands up and cheers loudly. You wanted to, but you were too busy trying to make sure your makeup doesn’t run down your face with a tissue from your clutch. Eventually, you give up trying and decide to go to the bathroom just to make sure everything still looks fine.
Your makeup looked just as flawless as it had before. You wish you would have known that the artist had used waterproof makeup so you could’ve properly celebrated Pedro’s achievement, but oh well. While you were there, you decided to use the bathroom. You didn’t have to go that bad, but might as well take care of it while you’re here.
While you were relieving yourself, you heard two other women come in.
“-ld for her. He needs to settle down with someone like us and around his age. Not some college student.” You froze solid when they realized that they were talking about you.
“I know. She isn’t even that pretty. Did you see her teeth? Do they not have braces where she comes from?”
“For real. Her body’s not that great either. Looks like she comes straight from the shack or something.”
“Wonder if that’s where he found her?” They both giggle.
“Either way, she doesn’t belong here.” You knew they were right, but you just couldn’t bare to listen anymore, pulling your underwear back up and fixing your dress after you flush the toilet.
You then run out of the bathroom, not even looking to see who the women were. It didn’t matter, though. They were right. You should have never came here and you couldn’t stay any longer.
You walked back to your seat and gently tugged on Pedro’s sleeve.
“C-Can we go… Please?” You ask, your voice shaking just as much as your hands. Pedro got up instantly when he saw the look on your face, grabbing his trophy, coat and your clutch. He didn’t ask questions as he placed his hand to the small of your back and began to escort you out of the theater.
By the time you got back into the limo you felt like you couldn’t breathe. The voices around you sounding like water as your vision became black around the edges. Oh God, is this what feels lie to die? You couldn’t die. Not now! You had so much to do, so much t-
Something extremely cold suddenly touched your face, the blackness around your vision fading slightly as you looked up to whoever had put something so damn cold on you.
You were instantly met with the warm eyes of your boyfriend, concern laced on his brow as he gently dabbed a cold washcloth over your face. You could see his mouth moving, but you couldn’t make out what he was saying over the pounding of your heart, but it eventually calmed down enough to where you could begin to hear him.
“There we go, bee… that’s it sweetheart. Nice and easy.” Your breathing slowly calmed down, Pedro cradling you in his arms as your panic attack faded.
“I should have never come here…” You muttered. “I don’t belong here. All these fancy dresses, the flashing cameras, nice cars… I don’t deserve any of this.” Pedro placed a kiss to your forehead.
“Don’t say things like that, Abeja. You deserve this just as much as anyone. And as far as not belonging, trust me when I say I don’t either. And, frankly, I’m fine with that. All of these designer clothes, the mindless gossip, the broken homes, being surrounded by so many but still alone? That’s not really a life worth living. The world of Beautiful People is a lonely life, one that I would rather not live.”
You wasn’t sure what to say, so you just didn’t say anything, curling up as close as you could to him.
He made you take a dose of your anxiety medication when you got back to the hotel, taking it with a swig of water before laying down and curling up close to him. You laid your head on his shoulder, the sounds of his breathing and the gentle feeling of his hand caressing your own shoulder lulling you.
Right before you doze off, you heard him say:
“No matter what any of them has said, you’re perfect the way you are and deserve everything.”
________________________
You wake up the next morning still wrapped up in his arms. You lay there for a while just talking and enjoying one another’s company before he finally got up to use the bathroom.
You reach for your phone on the nightstand, turning off “do not disturb” mode for the first time since yesterday afternoon.
Your phone was overloaded. Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, everywhere was flooded. You didn’t even know where to begin.
Eventually, you just give up trying to put a dent into anything and returned Lauren’s list of missed calls. She answered on the second ring.
“You tell me every little detail, you sneaky bitch. And I mean everything!”
Love, PCY
Park Chanyeol who? I only know Bang Chanyeol.
Bep. Bep. Bep.
Hearing the doorbell ringing three times was enough for Jisoo to rise up from her slumber and wonder while she wears the nearest hoodie she could grasp. As far as she recalls, Jennie called her yesterday to tell her that she would be arriving today at eight in the morning, but right now, when Jisoo checks her phone as she walks closer to the door, it is, in fact, six in the morning, so who could it be?
Jisoo sighs from the thought, growing confused and confused as she opens the door only to find a colored white envelope with a flower, more specifically, a rose attached to it.
The raven-haired woman blinked.Not again. She thought as she bent down to pick it with her hand. She has been getting love letters these past months, but with a flower attached to it? That's a first.
No one has ever given her flowers, more specifically a rose, which is her favorite flower. Not even Jinyoung from Class C, who asked her to be his prom date last year, nor from anyone during Valentine's day. And even if someone dares to give her a flower, they would always avoid the rose as their reason would always be; a rose is an overrated flower.
And receiving a rose, especially from a secret admirer, intrigues Jisoo, but at the same time, it makes her wonder in circles.
How did they know she adores roses?
The brunette shakes her thoughts away. It could be a coincidence, that maybe this secret admirer of hers also admires roses just like her and just sent her one for fun.
Jisoo sighs at the thought before she detaches the envelope.
Hi Soo :>
I've been noticing lately that you seem troubled and down. I know it's going to be stupid of me to ask, but are you okay? I know it must be tough, but I believe that you can surpass that.
Anyways! I heard you got a quiz today, I'm sure you're going to be fine. You've worked hard on it, and hard work never betrays.
Bye! :>
Ps. I've heard you adore roses, so I hope this rose will give you happy luck :P
Love, PCY
Jisoo blinks and if someone ever saw her at this moment, she would look like an idiotic gaping fish. The raven quickly stuffed the letter into her hoodie pocket, peeking her head around the doorframe to check for any crumb traces of her secret admirer from left to right. Unfortunately, the raven doesn't find any, and so she sends a quick text to none other than her roommate slash best friend, Jennie.
Code: You better hide your girlfriend and yourself or else I'll have to whop both of your asses back to New Zealand for selling me out!
///
"Look, for the last time. I told you, It's not me. " Jennie says, rolling her eyes at her best friend's sudden accusation.
Jisoo huffs, throws her back at her seat, and crosses her arms, "Then who?"
"I don't know, okay? But one thing for sure is I didn't sell you out. And also, why would I even do that? It's not like the fact that you liked Roses would create a sudden miracle like it'll fix the Global Warming problems or something. " The brunette murmurs, taking a bite on her chicken salad.
"Good point." Jisoo says, before she turns her head at the other figure, who is surprisingly eating her food quietly.
Lisa, who noticed the raven-haired girl's sudden look. She scrunched her nose in confusion before she locked her eyes at the raven, "What?"
"How about you Lis? Would you sell me out for free cat food?"
"...Is that a trick question?"
"No,"
"...If it means raising my babies, then I would not hesitate."
"So it was you!" Jisoo whispered loudly enough for the three to hear, squinting her eyes in suspicion at Lisa.
"What!" Lisa widens her eyes before she furrows both of her eyebrows as she turns her head at her girlfriend for help, but her girlfriend, Jennie, shrugs it off as she continues to eat her chicken salad like there is no scene in front of her.
Lisa could only blink helplessly at her girlfriend before she glanced back at the accuser, "Look, It's not me. No one has made an offer to me like that."
"But you would sell me out if someone offered you that offer."
"I would... but! The most important thing is I didn't sell you out, so..." Lisa shifts her eyes, praying the accuser's eyes would leave her alone.
Seeing the uneasiness of her friend, Jisoo sighs guilty as she throws her back on her seat in defeat before muttering a sincere apology to her friends.
Just how the hell did her secret admirer know about her admiration for the roses?
"Anyway, if they knew about your favorite, that would probably mean they are stalking you or perhaps, it's just someone who happens to know about it." Jennie says, bringing back Jisoo to reality.
"Probably." Lisa agrees, cutting her lasagna in half and placing the other half on Jisoo's plate.
It's true that her secret admirer could be a stalker because she hasn't mentioned to anyone that she adores roses except her best friends, but if her secret admirer is a stalker, how did they know she adores roses when she hasn't given any hints or been subtle about it? Are they watching her? That's kind of creepy...
Before Jisoo knew, she was already sighing and rubbing her forehead in confusion unconsciously and that didn't go unnoticed by her two friends who glanced at each other helplessly.
"Didn't you say about their initials? Maybe we can help you by starting to find out with someone with the same initials as them." Jennie offers, tapping her friend's arm.
"Yeah, maybe we can." Lisa joins.
Jisoo purses her lips, looking at her two friends' eyes before she thinks about the letter.
"I think it was PCY or something-"
Before Jisoo could speak anything further, she was cut off by a continuous choking sound from the opposite seat. Jennie, who was beside Lisa, looked alarmed, and tried to pat the Thai's back, hardly enough for Lisa to come back from her normal state.
"Eat slowly, you idiot!" Jisoo hisses, offering Lisa a water, who immediately takes it without hesitation.
"...Thank you for pulling my leg from Heaven," Lisa says, panting as she offers a peace sign at the two before faking a cough, "Anyway, continue."
"Eat slowly next time, you idiot."
"Yes ma'am!"
Jennie sighs at the silliness of her girlfriend before turning her head at Jisoo, who's eyes lingered on Lisa and fakes a cough to earn the attention of her friend.
"Anyway, as far as I can remember, there is only one person who owns that initial."
Surprised by the new found information, Jisoo widens her eyes as her eyes start to twinkle in hope like the stars that can be seen in the night.
"Really?"
"Man, you really need to step out from your cave." Lisa comments, reaching out her fork to the raven's plate for the chicken nuggets.
Jisoo rolls her eyes at the Thai before she focuses her eyes at the owner of the feline eyes whose lips are sealed.
"Who?"
"Before I answer, I have a question. What are you going to do after you find out who's behind the letter?"
Jisoo gives a narrow look at the brunette before it turns to try to identify what is behind those feline eyes. That was probably the stupidest question she had ever gotten from Jennie, because it was really obvious what she was about to do, but she was going to stop herself from actually voicing it out. It looked like Jennie was serious enough about the question, so Jisoo is going to give a serious answer to her best friend.
"You both knew that I fancied Roseanne from the beginning and also, it wouldn't be fair for them to lead them to an idea that I have reciprocated their feelings, so I want to reject them properly before it gets out of hand."
If there is one thing anyone should know about Jisoo, it would be that Jisoo's mouth forms words faster than her brain. It was true though. What she said to Jennie was completely pure honesty.
Jisoo was in love with Roseanne and has been pursuing the strawberry blonde since they were in kindergarten. Despite the fact that Roseanne had shown no signs of reciprocating Jisoo's feelings over the years, the raven haired was hurt, but she wasn't giving up on Roseanne. And it is one of Jisoo's principles to never entertain anyone, even if it's a chicken in the form of a human when she's pursuing the woman she loves.
"Don't worry, Chu. You and my step-sister already got my blessings." Lisa teased, enjoying the flustered side of Jisoo.
"Shut up." Jisoo hisses, trying to look away to prevent her friends from seeing her pink tainted cheeks.
Jennie knew it was a stupid question to ask, but she only smiled because she was pleased with the raven-haired's perseverance in pursuing her Aussie friend slash co-captain.
"Anyway, Park Chanyeol is the captain of the soccer team. If you want, I can ask him to meet you after practice." Jisoo gave a puzzled look at Jennie.
"Chanyeol? I thought that guy was a Bang." Lisa laughs.
"Bang Chan and Park Chanyeol are two different people, Chu."
"Oh,"
. . .
"Oh!"
And that's how Jisoo ended up standing alone beside the bench. She was uneasy about the stares she was getting from everyone, but she held her ground tightly and hoped that Chanyeol would just show up now.
Today was the day. The day Jisoo is going to end it all.
If Jisoo was any other girl, Chanyeol would definitely be the man of her dreams. Chanyeol was a nice guy, despite the stereotypes of the jocks Jisoo sees in the books, he was not like that. He was, in fact, the opposite. He was nice, rich, and handsome. In short, he was every woman's standard, but Jisoo wasn't any other girl. It may be an advance thinking, but Jisoo couldn't just imagine herself to be in that man's arms.
She couldn't see a future where Chanyeol was her spouse.
"Jisoo?" Hearing a familiar feminine voice was enough for Jisoo to bring herself to reality. Turning her heels, Jisoo's eyes immediately locked with the owner of the voice, the head cheerleader, Park Roseanne.
"Rosie." Jisoo says, shrinking from her position and flashing a smile that she hopes isn't idiotic or awkward, but that was probably the most awkward and idiotic smile she's ever plastered, given that her facial expression will always betray her brain.
Great. Another embarrassing moment to recall before falling asleep. Just great.
Her cheeks burning more in embarrassment, Jisoo bit down her lower lip to suppress her embarrassment and looked up when she heard a cute giggle coming from Rosé.
Did Rosé just laugh? Her ears must be playing with her imagination, but Jisoo has come to the conclusion that it wasn't an imagination when she sees Roseanne trying to hide her smile with the back of her hand. Just how could anyone be this gorgeous?
"Sorry, it's just you're adorable," Roseanne says, biting her lower lip to keep her smile from turning into laughter.
Not having a comeback to that, Jisoo didn't speak any further, and just sealed her lips as she had no trust in her lips. If God isn't going to save her from embarrassment and looking like an idiotic woman to her future wife, then she must step up and do the deed.
Roseanne fakes a cough to ease the tension between them after receiving no response from the raven-haired.
"So what made you come here? If you're looking for Jennie, I think she left with my sister a while ago."
"Oh, I'm not actually here for Jen... I'm here for someone." Roseanne's gaze narrowed at the raven-haired.
"Who?"
The raven-haired woman opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by a baritone voice behind their back.
"Hey Kim, you were looking for me?"
Immediately turning both of their heels, Jisoo’s eyes were still lingering on Roseanne even though her body was facing Chanyeol. She couldn't help, but catch a glimpse of disappointment in Roseanne's facial features. Although she is perplexed as to why, the raven haired girl did not dare to ask any questions as she locked her gaze on Chanyeol.
"Well, looks like that's my cue to leave now. Bye Park. Bye Soo." And with that, before Jisoo could bid her goodbyes to the cheerleader, the cheerleader was swift enough to disappear like dust blown by the wind.
Chanyeol furrows both of his eyebrows from that, confused by the slight change of tone of the cheerleader, and glances up at Jisoo, who had a longing look at where the cheerleader disappeared to.
Clearly, there is something weird going on, but Chanyeol decides to shrug it off. Thinking it was none of his business. He snaps a finger in front of Jisoo and from that, Jisoo is immediately brought back to reality. She muttered a small apology at the soccer captain right away.
"It's alright, Kim. Anyway, Jennie told me you were asking for me. What's up?" He asks, innocently smiling.
Chanyeol could tell the raven-haired woman in front of him was hesitant and uneasy where she was standing just by looking at her, but Chanyeol didn't say anything as he patiently waited. It must be that kind of serious for Kim to be this way.
The raven took something from her pocket and once she grasped it, she hesitantly stuck it out for Chanyeol to look at and accept.
The soccer captain took it, though he was perplexed by what the raven-haired woman gave to him. His gaze lingered on the letter, still perplexed, and in the hope of finding answers, he returned his gaze to the raven haired, only to find Jisoo looking at him apologetically. No one dared to speak between them and just when Chanyeol was about to speak, Jisoo beat him to it.
"Look, Chanyeol... If I was any other girl or any person, I would really accept your confession. You're great and all, but I-"
Jisoo was still speaking, but the soccer captain didn't hear any words escaping from her lips as he focused on himself, trying to process everything that the raven haired had spoken to him.
"Hold on, hold on, hold on," Chanyeol chants, cutting Jisoo off, "You think this is me?" He says, pointing at himself, then at the letter back and forth. He looked at Jisoo in bewilderment.
"Who else?" Chanyeol laughs awkwardly, blinking rapidly; a habit he does when he doesn't know what to do or respond.
"Look... dude, I like you, but as friends. And this? I didn't write this. Though, I really think you got the wrong person." He says, explaining from one to ten to the raven haired.
As Chanyeol ran his mouth to speak, the raven haired was the opposite. She was quiet as she processed everything the soccer captain had said to her.
"So you're saying that you're not the person behind the letter?"
"Yes!" Chanyeol yells, his eyes bright, but falters when he leans forward to whisper. Jisoo didn't move as she freely let Chanyeol do his thing.
"I mean, I thought the word had spread that I'm dating Baekhyun?" He whispered.
Surprised, Jisoo blinks at the newfound formation from the soccer captain, but at the same time, embarrassment starts to crawl up from her toes up to her spine when realization hit her like a bus.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I thought you were them!" Jisoo says, wishing the ground would just eat her alive in an instant.
"It's okay, man. I mean, if I were in your shoes, I'd suspect myself because a secret admirer of yours has the same initials as mine." Chanyeol chuckles, trying to ease the embarrassment, but it looked like the embarrassment was too big for Chanyeol to ease.
The raven haired was still muttering endless apologies and it looked like she didn't have any plans to stop. Thankfully, Chanyeol actually stopped her on her ninth apology with a reassuring smile.
"Really, it's okay Kim. Let's just pretend we didn't meet today, alright?"
Jisoo nodded, still wishing the ground would eat her alive. Although she appreciated the soccer captain's efforts to alleviate her embarrassment, it wasn't enough; after all, who wouldn't be dying of embarrassment if they were mistaken for their secret admirer? If asked, Jisoo would fight anyone to say it isn't that embarrassing.
Before Jisoo could actually drown herself with thoughts, a soft anime song echoed between them and, from the looks of it, it came from Chanyeol's pocket.
"Crap! I forgot I was gonna have a study session in the library with Hyun! I should go now Kim. See you around!" Patting Jisoo's shoulder, the soccer captain didn't waste a second as he sprinted off to meet his boyfriend, leaving Jisoo alone standing to rethink her choices in life.
This secret admirer of her has been driving her nuts, making her walk circles, and Jisoo could only sigh in frustration before she rubbed her forehead.
If it's not Chanyeol, then who?
///
Jisoo woke up frowning when she felt like a nail drilling slowly into her head, slowly torturing her brain. Where was she again? Oh right, she was at Lisa’s house along with Jennie. Just what came into her mind to come along with Jennie into Lisa's house with a bottle of wine? As she sat up with a groan, the raven-haired woman is slowly regretting her decision.
Hearing a soft groan at her side, Jisoo turned her head only to find out Jennie was still in her slumber. Like a burrito, the feline eye tightly held the pillow as she snuggled closer to it. Jisoo could only chuckle at the sight before she felt the nail drilling continuously on her head again.
She needs a hangover soup and medicine to ease her throbbing head. Call her overreacting, but Jisoo might actually die from the throbbing pain she feels in her head. Curse you Dionysus!
As a result, the raven-haired woman moved, sauntering her way downstairs. The scent of something good was the first thing she smelt, so she walked faster, hoping Lisa would immediately feed her with soup, and peek her head right through the door frame.
When she did, Jisoo could only purse her lips and blink at the two figures standing in the kitchen.
It was Lisa and Roseanne together in the kitchen.
It looked like the two of them were talking about something serious and Jisoo, who respected privacy, attempted to walk away, but before she could fully walk away. She freezes in her position, widening her eyes when she spots Hank, Roseanne's dog not so far away from them.
Based on the interactions she had with Hank every time she visited Lisa along with Jennie. Hank was a very energetic dog, but only to people he found comfortable with. And it looked like Jisoo's luck ran out in time when she noticed Hank's ears starting to perk up, his eyes starting to light up like fire when he spotted one of the humans he finds comfortable with.
To Jisoo's horror, Hank immediately ran up to her arms, and just when Hank was about to bark and lick Jisoo's cheeks. The raven swiftly reaches out her hand up to his mouth to shut him off. Just when will the Gods bless Jisoo with good luck?
"So where were you? I didn't know you're into getting up early in the morning now," Lisa asks, the sizzling noise still present, but Jisoo could just hear them fine.
"I... Uhm, I had an errand to do before class, so yeah,"
"Really?"
"Yeah."
There was a brief silence for a while and even though Jisoo didn't actually witness them physically talking, she could already tell Roseanne was kind of anxious, uneasy, but Lisa, on the other hand, was calm as she spoke. Different from Roseanne's odd behaviour.
And just when Jisoo was about to step up and interrupt the conversation to save the love of her life from spilling where she came from, Lisa blurted out her question that made Jisoo and Roseanne caught off guard at the same time.
"Do you have a crush on her?"
It was just a sentence, but that sentence was enough for Jisoo's heart to pound like a speaker at full volume, blasting like there is no tomorrow around the neighbourhood. Although the raven haired was anticipating the strawberry blonde's response, she felt as if her heart was being pinched with pliers while she waited. It's not going to be her, isn't it?
"I don't know what you're talking about, Lis."
"Oh, come on! I know you're behind those letters, Chaeyoung." Jisoo could only furrow her eyebrows in puzzlement at the name Lisa called her step-sister.
"I... I don't know what letters you are talking about."
"Right. I totally didn't see your ears go red just now. Seriously, just admit that you have a big fat crush on her, you dummy."
Roseanne responds with a nervous laugh, opening her mouth to speak another lie, but stopped mid-way when Lisa locked her eyes with her. The Thai's eyes practically scream that if she's going to throw a half-baked lie at Lisa, she's throwing the strawberry blonde's ass back to Melbourne, Australia.
"Alright, fine! I have a crush on Jisoo!" Roseanne hisses, sounding a little bit annoyed at what she has admitted, but her expression totally betrayed her as she felt her blood crawling up to her cheeks, making her look like a tomato ready for ripping.
"See? It's not that bad to admit that you like Jisoo." Jisoo could practically hear Lisa smirking.
"You better not tell her or else,." Lisa laughs at the threat.
"Alright, okay."
"And also, how did you even find out?"
"That is a very dumb question coming from a genius like you, Park Chaeyoung."
"Nevermind."
Jisoo could hear Lisa laugh once again, "Wake up Jennie for me, okay? Don't forget your girlfriend as well."
"Ugh, shut up." Roseanne hisses softly, blushing at the Thai's teasing.
As the footsteps start to fade from the background. Jisoo doesn't hear anything further aside from the sizzling sound that was made. And before the raven-haired could realize it, Hank took advantage of the opportunity to summon all of his strength and break free from her embrace.
Jisoo cursed under her breath as she tries to get Hank back into her arms, but unfortunately fails as Hank makes his way to the stairs as he wags his tail, and Jisoo guesses he’s probably going to crawl back into Roseanne’s arms upstairs.
"My, I didn't know you were the type to eavesdrop, Chu."
Jisoo yelped, like a kid caught red-handed, Jisoo widens her eyes caught in action as she helplessly looks up from the floor only to meet Lisa's teasing eyes.
No words escaped the raven's mouth, so she remained silent, and Lisa took advantage of the opportunity to continue with her teasing smile growing with each passing second.
"So, is it safe for me to assume that you have found out who's behind the letter?"
Jisoo woke up staring at her ceiling. There was nothing interesting happening in the ceiling, but somehow Jisoo finds the entertainment of staring at the ceiling as thoughts run through her mind.
It's not an everyday scene to find out your secret admirer is actually the person you have been crushing on since kindergarten, so Jisoo took her time to stare at the ceiling. Processing every detail that happened yesterday.
How the hell did she not notice it before? More importantly, just how the heck did she forget that the strawberry blonde has a Korean name? Sure, she had heard Lisa mentioning that name before, although the raven haired didn't know where and when, but Jisoo was really clueless and thought Roseanne and Chaeyoung were two different people. Oh god, she was so stupid that she didn’t realize Roseanne and Chaeyoung were one person.
Jisoo sighed before she hid her face under the pillow, screaming in embarrassment before it turned into giggles and squeals.
Roseanne likes her.
Chaeyoung likes her.
Now she has found out that her crush also felt the same. Just how the heck is she going to normally face Chaeyoung now? More importantly, how is she going to catch Chaeyoung red-handed?
///
The next morning, Jisoo simply woke up to another letter in her locker. This time, there were no flowers, but the letter was enough for Jisoo to brighten up her day, brighter than the sun.
The letter was nothing special, but the words that Chaeyoung sincerely wrote for Jisoo were enough to make the raven haired girl's heart race erratically at the thought of the blonde.
"Man, my sister's effect must be that bad to immediately put a smile on your face after Dalgom ate your chicken like a while ago." Jisoo laughs, rolling her eyes as she does.
"Oh shut up, Lis." Lisa snickered before widening her eyes for a split second and pulling out her phone.
"Oh right, can we switch places tonight? I have a surprise for Jennie, and I kind of need you to get out of the dorm."
"Please don't do it in my bedroom." Feeling a fresh sharp pain in her shoulder, Jisoo whines as she glares at Lisa, who only blushed.
"I’m telling Rosie that you’re hurting me physically." Jisoo threatens, pouting as she rubs at where Lisa struck her.
"W-We're not doing that you idiot! I just want to spend some alone time with my girlfriend." Jisoo snorts at that before she recalls the memory of one time she walked in to them having an intimate moment on the couch.
Although she feels bad for teasing, Jisoo just couldn't let the teasing chance pass through. She scarcely had any comeback to throw at them during the teasing war, so now she's had it. She's not going to hold it back.
"Okay, fine, but just make sure you guys feed Dalgom there, alright."
"Great! You can stay with my sister tonight."
Jisoo widens her eyes at that, "What? No!"
"Oh come on, Chu. You're not going to avoid my sister forever. And also, don't act like I didn't catch you smiling at the letters. You guys totally need to talk." Lisa says with a smirk on her lips.
"And also, don't worry about food. Chaeyoung is a great cook, I'm sure she's going to fill your stomach." And before Jisoo could utter a word, Lisa winked at her before sprinting away.
Did Lisa just set her up on a date with her sister at their own house?
///
"Here you go, Princess." Jisoo beamed, pride evident in her voice as Chaeyoung softly laughed at the content that Jisoo had presented to her.
"I made you the finest bowl of Fruit Loops that I could find in your cupboard." She said, which made Chaeyoung snicker, hiding the laugh beneath her lips.
"How did you even find this? I didn't even know we had one of these." She says, glancing at the Fruit Loops, then turns her gaze at the proud eyes owned by the raven.
"Well, I have my ways." Jisoo says, confidently, and flips her hair as she does. Chaeyoung scoffed at that, her lips curling into a smile afterwards.
"Idiot." She whispered under her breath.
Jisoo only flashed a lopsided grin before she sat opposite where Chaeyoung sat. The raven didn't really remember how both of them ended up having Fruit Loops as their dinner for the evening, but from the looks of it. It looked like Chaeyoung seemed to like it. She even offered a bite to Jisoo, which doesn’t make sense, because they’re both eating fruit loops, but Jisoo accepted heartedly, and blushed when realization hit her afterwards.
That was an indirect kiss, wasn't it...
Jisoo knew she wasn't supposed to make a big deal out of this, but she couldn't help it. It seemed like the blonde didn't notice and was even confused when her eyes landed on the blushing raven.
"What's wrong?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
"N-nothing..." Jisoo replies, looking away to prevent being seen with blushing cheeks.
Chaeyoung knew it wasn't just something, but when she glanced down at her spoon then at Jisoo back and forth. She widened her eyes for a split second before she turned to look at the raven who had been blushing.
"Oh..." The blonde muttered, smiling as she looked away.
There was a brief silence between them until Jisoo decided to break the cold ice with a fake cough. Being silent won’t get them anywhere, so she starts.
"I don't think Lisa is coming home this evening." She says, trying to lock her eyes with the blonde to ease the tension between them.
"Yeah."
"When will Mrs. Manoban and Mr. Manoban come home? It's been a long time since I last saw them." It was out of the blue, but that was the only thing Jisoo had in her mind to blurt out.
"I think Mom and Dad will be back around July? I don't actually know. They often change it. They miss you, ya know." Jisoo blushes at that, fluttering.
"Well, tell them next time that I miss them too." Jisoo beams, giggling as she does. Chaeyoung does the same, taking a bite of her Fruit Loops.
"How was your day, Soo?" She asks and, without hesitation, Jisoo immediately tells her what had happened during the history class, making Chaeyoung burst into soft laughter after learning Lisa fell down all of a sudden on her seat.
"So that's why she was whining about it and asking me to massage her back." Jisoo hummed at that, her smile still present.
"Your sister is kind of clumsy. She takes after you."
"Hey! I'm not clumsy," Jisoo laughs at that.
"Yeah sure, Princess."
"I'm really not!" Chaeyoung narrowed her eyes at the raven.
For a split second, if Jisoo didn't know Chaeyoung better, she would have thought Chaeyoung was annoyed by her, but when she saw the smile crawling into the blonde's plump lips, Jisoo knew it was nothing serious.
"How was your day?" Jisoo inquires, her gaze still locked on the blonde's.
"Nothing is interesting in my day, Soo."
"Well, I am, so come on. Tell me your day, clumsy dude." Chaeyoung burst out laughing as she heard this.
"Did you just call me a clumsy dude?"
"I did. Do you have a problem with that, clumsy dude?" Chaeyoung chuckles, rolling her eyes at the raven.
"Okay, chicken dude." She murmured, making Jisoo chuckle as she narrowed her eyes teasingly at Chaeyoung.
Cheayoung then starts to speak about her day, starting from the cheerleading practice to the end of the day. Of course, Jisoo was listening very well, laughing at the things Chaeyoung explained about what happened in the class that made Ms. Lee mad.
Jisoo knew she had to seize this opportunity. And Jisoo knew better that it was better to not underestimate Lisa, so she mustered up the courage. If no one is going to speak, then she'll take the lead.
"See? It's interesting to hear about your day. And by the way, thanks for the flowers and letters, Chaeyoung."
"You're welcome, Soo."
Jisoo smiled. Chaeyoung freezes after picking it up.
"I... uhm... I-" Chaeyoung looked down, trying to find an explanation as anxiety and fear started to crawl up into her spine.
"It's okay, Chae. I know." Jisoo murmurs, smiling as her eyes never leave Chaeyoung.
"...What?"
Jisoo blushes again, this time a little brighter, but she's not going to back down from her confession or keep quiet about it. Not when she literally just started, and she has no plans to end it until she says it.
"I am in love with you too, silly."
And that sentence was enough for Chaeyoung to blink as she processed everything. All this time, she thought it was platonic, but it was not? Oh my god. Oh my god.
"You still remember it, right? I mean, it would be so awkward if you didn't, but if you want me to remind you of the first letter you told me, in which you told me you love me and-"
"You're in love with me?"
Jisoo smiled a little although she was in a blushing mess, but she didn't care. She reached out to take Chaeyoung's hand on hers as she looked at her in the eyes full of sincerity.
"I am. I am in love with you, Chaeyoung."
Chaeyoung flashes a quivering smile when she hears that. And Jisoo couldn't help, but to panic when she saw tears starting to form in the blonde's eyes. She instinctively stood up from her seat and sat down beside the girl to comfort her.
"Oh shit. I mean, I totally said I'm in love with you instead of I'm not, but oh my god, don't cry please. I'm sorry. Please don't cry." Jisoo says, cupping Chaeyoung's cheeks into her palms and starts to wipe the tears.
"I thought I was gonna lose you." Chaeyoung whispered, also trying to wipe her tears.
"Well, for a second thought. I also thought I was gonna lose you. You scared me silly!"
Chaeyoung laughs at that, tears still present in her cheeks before she reaches out to cup the brunette's cheeks and does the impossible.
Jisoo widens her eyes in shock, feeling the plump lips pressed against her. Chaeyoung's lips were sweet, although a little bit salty, because of the tears, but nonetheless. It was the sweetest thing Jisoo had ever tasted. Regaining and finally absorbing what was happening, Jisoo instinctively circled her arms around the blonde, and kissed her back as she poured out all of her feelings with closed eyes.
She could feel the blonde smiling between their kiss and when the oxygen became an issue. They broke it off before they shared a loud laugh with happiness. They must have been that dumb and dense for not realizing they have been in love with each other for years.
"So does that mean we're girlfriends now?" Chaeyoung asked, now leaning into Jisoo's shoulders as she played with the raven's hand.
"Well, you still haven't asked me, so I guess not?" Jisoo replies, leaning as well on Chaeyoung.
"Then ask me, silly."
"Why me?"
"Why not you?"
"Ask me out."
"No, you ask me out."
"Is this going to be our first love quarrel?"
"It’s not if you’re not going to ask me out."
"Touché."
Chaeyoung laughed and Jisoo smiled before she faked a cough and properly positioned herself, turning her head at Chaeyoung as she held her hand closer.
"Okay, since we're both very stubborn and you're being cute, which is very lucky of you. I'll do the asking then," Jisoo says, earning a slap on her shoulder as Chaeyoung laughs at her. She pouts, before she continues with a smile, "Will you be my-"
"Yes." Jisoo laughs at that.
"Do you even know what I was going to ask?" She teased.
"Oh I know you're going to ask me to be your girlfriend, Soo."
"What if I ask you to be my mega bestfriend instead of being my girlfriend?"
"Oh shut up, simp. You love me." Jisoo laughs at the name.
"Okay, mega best friend who has a huge crush on me."
“Special delivery for Parker Daniels,” a deep, familiar voice echoed from behind her. Parker whirled around, a smile already on her face before she even made eye contact with the man holding two bouquets of flowers.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, coming around to the other side of the reception desk where Calum was standing.
“Well, obviously I’m here to give you these,” he rolled his eyes fondly at her, extending one of the bouquets out for her to take. “But it’s also Gram and my Granddad’s anniversary, and I always bring her flowers.”
“You’re really sweet,” she said, taking them from his hand.
Calum wrapped his free arm around Parker’s waist, tugging her close. “Shush, love. Got a reputation to uphold,” he winked, planting a kiss to her lips. He let her go, walking backwards down the hall towards Grace’s room. “Saturday night. Don’t make plans.”
“What’s happening Saturday?” she asked.
“Boys’ night,” he called out. “You can crash. Bring Jenna,” he added before turning and leaving Parker to stare after the delicious sight that was Calum’s ass in tight black jeans.
Calum entered Grace’s bedroom, hiding behind the huge bouquet. “Good morning, pretty lady,” he grinned, peeking his head above the flowers.
“Oh, Calum!” she exclaimed, clapping her hands together. “Thank you! They’re beautiful, dear. Even better than the last time,” she smiled, taking them from his hands. “Hard to believe it’s been almost 17 years since he’s been gone,” she sighed wistfully.
Calum said nothing, just wrapped Gram up in a tight hug, squeezing her and kissing the top of her head.
Parker poked her head around the doorframe, knocking lightly. “Am I interrupting?” she asked.
Calum let go of Gram, turning around. “Come on in, angel,” he replied, reaching his hand out for her.
Parker entered the room, setting a glass vase filled with water on the table beside Grace’s bed. “Thought you might need this,” she said.
“Oh, how thoughtful. Thank you, dear,” Grace said, squeezing Parker’s hand.
She turned to leave, but Calum caught her elbow, spinning her back towards him and kissing her lightly on the cheek. “I’ll see you later, yeah?”
Parker nodded, blushing. Grace was absolutely beaming at the two of them. “See you later, Grace,” she smiled before meeting Calum’s eyes once more and leaving.
Calum watched her leave before turning back to Gram. She wore a smile of pure joy, one that reached her eyes. “I’m so glad you two worked things out,” she said. “She makes you happy.”
Calum flashed her a lopsided grin. “You make me happy.”
Gram chuckled. “I’ve never made you this happy, baby. You’re glowing.”
Calum couldn’t argue with her. He loved Gram more than anything else in the world, but since he’d been with Parker, he was feeling lighter than air. It was a strange feeling. For the first time in Calum’s life, he felt like he was ready to let someone in. He couldn’t explain why it was different with Parker, but it didn’t matter. He wanted her to know him.
“So tell me again why we’re crashing boys’ night,” Jenna questioned as she sat at Parker’s vanity, adding hairspray to her just-curled hair.
Parker was rummaging through her closet, looking for a top to wear. “I have no idea,” she said honestly. “Calum’s request,” she shrugged.
She tugged a sheer long sleeve off its hanger, slipping it over her head when she noticed her phone light up with a FaceTime call notification. She sat down on her bed, accepting the call from Calum.
Her phone screen was filled with a close-up of Michael’s face, yelling to be heard over the rest of the boys screaming along to Nickelback in the background.
“When are you guys coming over?” he yelled into the phone, a silver cross dangling from his right ear. Parker shook her head, chuckling to herself. “There’s too much testosterone over here. Please tell me you’re coming soon!” Michael begged, before Calum snatched the phone out of his hand.
“Give us like, ten minutes,” Parker told him, checking the time. “You’re not even dressed yet!” Parker laughed, only just noticing that Calum wasn’t even wearing a shirt.
“Just get your ass over here, doll. The boys are getting rowdy,’ he said before ending the call.
Fifteen minutes later, Jenna and Parker were in an Uber on the way to Calum’s apartment. Jenna pulled a flask out of her boot and handed it to Parker. Parker smirked, taking a shot of whatever was in it.
She scrunched her nose in disgust, handing it back to her friend. “Tequila? You’re gross,” she laughed.
When they reached Calum’s apartment door, Parker turned to Jenna. “I apologize for whatever we may find in there,” she gestured to the door. “They get weird when they’re together.”
Jenna giggled as Parker turned the handle and opened the door. Just as Calum had said, the boys were definitely getting rowdy. Luke was standing on the couch, Ashton was on his knees, and Calum and Michael were facing each other, all four of them singing unbelievably loudly and playing air instruments along with the music blasting out of Calum’s speakers.
“Boys,” Jenna said, rolling her eyes, and Parker laughed.
“Are we interrupting?” Parker announced loudly, and the four of them turned to look at her.
Michael came bounding over, squeezing her in a tight hug. “Hey, Michael,” she laughed. “This is Jenna,” she gestured to the brunette standing next to her. “Jenna, these are the boys. Michael, Ashton, Luke and Calum.”
After the introductions, Luke made Parker and Jenna a drink, and they toasted to new friends. Parker noticed how Luke’s eyes lingered on Jenna and how his fingers brushed hers when he handed her her drink.
“You’re still not dressed,” Parker pointed out, gesturing to Calum’s still-naked chest.
“I thought you liked me better this way,” he said cheekily.
“Yeah, when we’re alone and I can enjoy it,” she returned smoothly. “Go,” she urged, pushing him in the direction of his bedroom.
“Help me pick something,” he said, grabbing her wrist and tugging her along with him.
Fifteen minutes later, they emerged from Calum’s bedroom. Calum was finally dressed, but both their cheeks were flushed and their hair a little messier than it was when they left.
“Y’all were having sex, weren’t you?” Jenna accused with narrowed eyes, gesturing between the two of them.
Parker shot her a dirty look, but then her face broke into a wicked grin.
• • • • • •
At the bar, after several rounds of shots and plenty of dancing, Parker was having a blast. Jenna was getting on with the boys, and she seemed to approve of Calum, which was all Parker cared about. Lately, Calum seemed less grumpy than usual and it made Parker happy. He smiled and laughed a lot, and it lit up his face, a welcome change from the scowl she used to see etched into his features. Once he had opened up to her, he was a different person. He was still sarcastic and had that same sly, cocky, suggestive sense of humour, but he was also sweet and gentle and he made Parker’s heart flutter. His friends were a blast, too, and without much effort at all she found herself falling for him, fast.
“You need another drink, love?” he asked her, noting her empty cup and downing the last of his own drink.
“I’ll get it,” she shook her head, smiling. She kissed him on the cheek and made her way to the bar on the other side of the dance floor.
Parker ordered a beer for Calum and another cocktail for herself, leaning against the bartop as she waited. Her gaze found her friends on the floor, the boys dancing in a circle around Jenna and having the time of their lives. She smiled fondly as she watched them, smirking when she saw Luke trying to get closer to her. She vaguely noticed Ashton wasn’t among them and wondered where he was. Her silent question was answered when she heard a familiar voice next to her.
“He’s crazy about you, you know,” Ashton stated, raising the hand that was holding his drink and pointing in Calum’s direction. Parker looked up at him, black hair falling in tousled waves around his face. “He’s never been much of a relationship guy. He doesn’t let people in, and he doesn’t trust easily. But I can see that it’s different with you. I don’t know you, but I have to ask—are you serious about him? ‘Cause if you’re not, tell him now. I love that man like a brother, and I can’t watch him get hurt if you’re not sure.”
His expression wasn’t unkind, but he had lines of worry etched in his face, and Parker was a little bit offended by his assumption that she was using him. She had spent too much time and lost too much sleep over trying to convince Calum that she was a good person, and frankly it had been exhausting—she wasn’t going to do it with Ashton, too, Calum’s best friend or not.
“Look,” she began, hand on her hip and mild annoyance on her face. “You’re right—you don’t know me. I can appreciate that you’re looking out for your friend, but I’m not going to hurt him. I care about him. And I don’t particularly like having to prove myself to anyone but him.”
“Hey, easy,” Ashton replied, raising his hands in surrender. “I’m just saying, if you hurt him,” he warned, “believe me when I say you won’t get a second chance.”
The bartender slid Parker’s drinks across the bar to her, and she handed him the money. She turned back to Ashton. It frustrated her that he didn’t think she really cared about Calum, but she didn’t want to give him any reason not to like her. For Calum’s sake, Ashton’s approval was important to her. “I respect you, and what you’re trying to do, but I like him, okay? More than you know,” she trailed off, her eyes finding Calum again. “I want us to be friends,” she added, turning back to Ashton. “So you cool?”
Ashton eyed her for a moment, but he seemed willing to give her a chance. “To new friends, then,” he raised his cup and clinked it with hers, smiling. She smiled back, satisfied that she’d won him over. For now, anyway.
Ashton and Parker rejoined their friends on the floor, Calum shooting Parker a puzzled look. She just shook her head, indicating that it was nothing to worry about. She handed him his beer and he kissed her on the lips, a sloppy kiss that showed his mild level of intoxication, and it made Parker laugh.
“Hey!” she exclaimed suddenly, hitting him lightly on the shoulder. “I forgot to tell you!”
“Tell me what?”
“Well, I shouldn’t tell you. Legally, I’m not allowed...” she teased.
“Angel,” he warned. “Tell me what?”
“Grace had a follow-up today with one of her specialists, and I overheard them talking that she should be cleared to go home this week,” she said excitedly.
Calum’s face lit up, smile splitting his face from ear to ear. “Fuck, that’s the best news!” he exclaimed, grabbing her cheeks and kissing her repeatedly on the lips, Parker giggling at his enthusiasm. “You’re incredible, you know that?” he grinned.
“I didn’t do anything,” she pointed out.
“You take care of her like she’s family. You have no idea what that means to me,” he said sincerely. “Okay, boys, celebratory drinks on me! Gram’s coming home!”
Calum was out with the boys at their favourite pub for beers on Friday night. He had finished work at six, stopping in at Grace’s house and making sure she was settling back into her routine. It had been a couple of weeks since she moved back into the house, and she seemed to be doing really well being back at home. She was happier, more relaxed, and she insisted that Calum stop visiting her every day, because she was perfectly capable of managing on her own and she would call if she needed him. He’d grinned at her, telling her that wild dogs couldn’t keep him away, and promised he’d be back to visit soon.
They were sitting at a high table, sharing their second pitcher. “I just don’t understand why you won’t give me her number,” Luke whined. He’d been bugging Calum for Jenna’s number since the group of them had gone out a few weeks ago, and Calum rolled his eyes at his best friend.
“For one,” Calum started, taking a sip from his glass, “she’s not interested in a relationship, and you don’t need to get mixed up in that. Two, I’m not letting you fuck around with my girl’s best friend. It’ll get weird.”
Luke groaned. “Fine. I’ll just be single for the rest of my life, it’s totally fine,” he muttered dramatically.
“How are things going with you two, anyway?” Ashton asked, turning to Calum.
“Obviously amazing. Look how annoyingly happy he is,” Michael pointed out, making them all laugh.
Calum smiled into his glass, thinking of the grey-eyed girl that occupied his every thought.
“You’re thinking about her now, aren’t you?” Michael giggled, breaking Calum out of his thoughts.
He looked up, downing the rest of his beer and breathing in deeply. “I think I love her, boys.”
Parker was at work on Saturday afternoon when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, and she smiled when she saw Calum’s name above the text notification. On the advice of Ashton and the boys, she let Calum take the lead on where things were going. It had been over a month since they first slept together, but they hadn’t talked about what they were, and she didn’t want to push him, even though neither of them had been seeing anyone else. Parker was more than happy just being with him, so she didn’t mind taking it slow.
I’m lonely. Come over.
                                   I’m at work :(
Come after.
                                   I’m off at 5. You gonna survive until then?
I don’t know.
Parker was struck with a sudden idea. She closed herself in the single bathroom in the staff area. She removed her top and her bra long enough to take a photo of herself to send to Calum. Sending nudes was something she’d never done before, but she did it without thinking and it was kind of exhilarating. She hit send, biting her lip while she waited for his response.
Fuck, that’s not fair. Now I definitely won’t be able to wait that long.
She smiled, pocketing her phone. Suddenly, she didn’t want to wait until five either. Maybe she could pretend she wasn’t feeling well and get off early.
• • • • • •
At 3:15, she parked her car in the visitor lot at Calum’s apartment building, buzzing herself in with the code he gave her and impatiently waiting for the elevator to take her up to Calum’s floor. She knocked on the door, smirking at Calum’s surprised expression at her early arrival.
He tugged her inside and pinned her against the door. “You’re early,” he mumbled as he kissed her. “Not very nice of you to send me that picture and make me wait,” he murmured against her lips.
“I’m here now, aren’t I?” she replied, dropping her bag on the floor and kicking off her shoes as she tugged Calum’s t-shirt over his head, walking him backwards towards his bedroom. He slipped his hands under her thighs, lifting her easily as she hooked her ankles around his waist. He carried her to the bedroom, kicking the door shut behind him before setting her down.
“Clothes off,” he growled. “Now.”
• • • • • •
Parker lay on Calum’s tattooed chest, drawing patterns on it with her finger. “You’ve never told me what these mean,” she said quietly, her fingertip tracing over the roman numerals on his left collarbone.
Calum’s breath hitched. He wasn’t used to sharing personal details about his life, especially the meaning behind that tattoo in particular.
“You don’t have to tell me,” she responded. “If you don’t want to.”
He appreciated her understanding, but he reminded himself that if he wanted Parker to get to know him, if he wanted to be honest and open with her, he was going to have to start somewhere, and here was as good a place as any. He wanted her to know, he just didn’t like talking about it. Calum tried to relax, placing a kiss to the top of Parker’s head. “Things are about to get heavy, doll. You sure you’re ready for it?”
Calum took a deep breath. He’d only told this story once in his life, and not in a very long time. “When I was seventeen, I went through some shit,” he began, trying to condense the details as much as possible to get it over with. “I started hanging out with some rough people and I got into some pretty messed up shit for a while. I just felt out of place, like I wasn’t going anywhere with my life and everything was against me. The boys were gonna be going off to college and I wasn’t—I just felt like an outsider watching my life go by without me. I was miserable. I put up a hell of a fight with Gram—I was a nightmare, honestly. I don’t think she knew what to do with me, but the boys brought me out of it. I found out later in the year that my mum killed herself when I was a baby. Right in front of me. That’s why Gram raised me.” He sighed, rubbing a hand down his jaw. “It was the worst year of my life. Got a tattoo of that year to remind me that I never wanted to feel like that again.”
Parker bit her lip, her chest aching at the thought of what Calum had been through. It occurred to her that she really didn’t know anything about him. She didn’t know how to respond, so she pressed a kiss to the palm of his hand, snuggling closer. “I’m sorry,” she said quietly. “I didn’t know. I wouldn’t have asked.”
“It’s okay,” he replied. “I’m glad you know now.” He slipped out from under her, rolling onto his side and propping himself up on his elbow so he could meet her eyes.
“Thanks for telling me,” she smiled, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose. “And for trusting me.”
Calum couldn’t stop the next words from falling out of his mouth. He knew it might be too fast, but he didn’t care. He tucked a strand of Parker’s hair behind her ear and let his fingers trail down the curve of her jaw. “I’m in love with you,” he said quietly.
Parker looked up at him with wide eyes, part of her unsure if she had heard him right. His face was serious, his dark eyes never leaving her face as his fingers stroked along the skin of her cheek and jaw. When he saw her expression, he laughed softly. “Never thought I’d say that to any girl, honestly. But I do,” he said. “I love you.”
Parker’s mind was reeling. She hadn’t known for sure until that moment that she felt the same way. She had fallen for him so quickly, and his confession made her sure of what she already knew—she loved him, too.
Parker leaned forward, moving close to him. She rested her hand on his face, cupping his cheek and pressing her lips to his. She closed her eyes, feeling him relax under her and relishing in the softness of his lips. She pulled away only slightly, their lips still brushing gently. “I love you, too,” she murmured.
Calum smiled, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his chest. They lay like that for a while, Calum just holding her close, neither of them saying anything.
Finally, Parker broke the silence. “So,” she started, “does this mean I’m your girl?”
Calum laughed softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “You’ve always been my girl.”
» » » » » »
Parker slept over at Calum’s often over the next month, the drawers in his dresser and his bathroom slowly becoming home to some of her things. It made him smile every time he opened a drawer and his clothes smelled like her perfume, or he found pieces of her clothing while he was folding his laundry. He was head over heels for her.
They were making out on the couch one Thursday night, a movie playing long forgotten in the background. Parker was in nothing but a pair of shorts, her shirt and bra having been discarded, when she heard the familiar click of the automatic lock on Calum’s door. There were only three other people besides herself who had the code for his apartment, and they had a habit of never knocking. Parker scrambled to find her shirt before whoever was about to walk in saw her half-naked, but she had tossed it halfway across the room and she saw the three familiar faces of Calum’s best friends long before she could reach it. She did her best to cover herself, but her face turned bright red.
“Ah, fuck! Sorry, P. Didn’t know you were here,” Mikey stammered, covering his eyes. He turned around, attempting to get the other two to cover theirs while she dressed.
“It’s fine,” she laughed lightly. “We should know better, I guess, since you guys apparently don’t know the meaning of knocking.” It wasn’t the first time they’d walked in on her less than fully clothed.
“You forgot, didn’t you?” Michael turned to Calum.
“Forgot what?”
“Seriously dude? It’s wing night. Last Thursday of the month. We’ve been doing this for years,” Luke rolled his eyes, setting a huge bag full of takeout containers on the island in the kitchen.
“Shit, is it Thursday? Yeah, I forgot,” Calum admitted, running a hand through his hair.
Parker swiped her car keys off the counter and grabbed her bag. “It’s okay, I’ll go. See you on Saturday?” she asked, pressing a kiss to Calum’s cheek.
“You can stay, P. There’s lots of food,” Mikey offered, gesturing to the bag.
“Thanks, Mikey, but I should get going anyway. I’ve gotta work tomorrow. Later, guys!”
The boys waved and Calum stood, following Parker to the door. “Text me when you’re home,” he murmured, pulling her in for a hug and kissing her temple.
“You know I’ll forget.”
“I know,” he smiled, ducking his head and pressing his lips to hers softly. “I love you.”
“I never get tired of hearing that,” she smiled, closing the door behind her. Calum made his way back into the living room.
“What’s on Saturday?” Michael asked, licking barbeque sauce off his fingers.
Calum collapsed onto the couch and reached for a chicken wing. “I’m supposed to have dinner with Parker’s parents.”
All at once, the three boys looked at Calum with raised eyebrows. He waved them off with a scoff. “It’s not that big of a deal. It’s just dinner.”
“I’d say it’s a pretty big deal, dude. If you’re meeting her parents, things are serious with P and you wanna make a good impression,” Luke pointed out.
“Can we not talk about this?” Calum snapped, a little more harshly than he intended.
Calum wasn’t the type of guy you bring home to meet your parents, and he knew it. He wanted to impress them, even if Parker wasn’t exceptionally close with her family. But he had a feeling in his gut that this dinner wasn’t going to go well. Calum knew how to be polite and charming, but he didn’t exactly have a shining resumé full of impressive accomplishments. He barely graduated high school. He knew Parker was too good for him, and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried that her parents would think the same thing, too.
“What’s wrong with you?” Luke cocked his head, giving him a puzzled look. “Are you really that nervous to meet them?”
Calum sighed. “I don’t know, mate. I’m not really nervous, I just—she’s this incredible person, she’s got a huge heart and she saves lives, for fuck’s sake. I barely finished high school, I work at a record store, and I’m not exactly a nice guy. I don’t see them being too thrilled when they meet me.” He took a long swig of his beer, then set it down on the coffee table and leaned his head back against the couch.
“Why do you care what they think of you?” Ashton questioned, turning to him. “Parker doesn’t care, so why should they? She loves you, man,” he added. “That’s all that matters.”
Calum took a deep breath. “I hope you’re right.”
Parker was loading groceries into her car when she heard her phone ring. She answered it, propping it between her ear and her shoulder.
“Hey, mom,” she answered, seeing her mother’s caller ID before she answered. “What’s up?”
“Hi, honey. I just wanted to call and make sure we were still on for Saturday. Dad and I are excited to meet Calum.”
“I’m excited for you to meet him, too,” she breathed. And she was. Things were going so well with him, and it had been a long time since Parker had been with someone long enough to introduce him to her parents.
“We’ll meet you there at seven?” her mother confirmed.
“Can’t wait,” Parker said before hanging up.
Calum had to work Saturday morning, rolling out of bed reluctantly at 7:45 after an unexpectedly late night fooling around with his guitar. He had lost track of time and it was past two when he finally went to bed. Duke sighed heavily at Calum’s sudden movement, turning around in a circle and finding a new comfortable position among his pillows.
“I wish my life was as easy as yours, big man,” Calum mumbled, scratching his dog behind the ears.
He showered and dressed in his usual work attire of black boots, jeans and a band tee, grabbing a coffee on the way into the store. The morning was typical for a Saturday, busier than during the week but nothing crazy. Tom usually came in after lunch, leaving Calum to open the store by himself and shutting himself in his office for the afternoon to do paperwork, only emerging to allow Calum to take his lunch break. Calum was ringing through a customer when Tom stormed out of his office, looking angrier than usual. He wasn’t generally a happy guy so it wasn’t uncommon for him to be in a bad mood, but Calum wondered what had happened that had him suddenly so pissed off.
“Calum, how many times do I have to ask you to put these boxes in the attic?” he demanded angrily, kicking a cardboard box of overstock out of his path.
“I’m with a customer, Tom,” he gritted out, seconds away from losing his cool.
Calum handed his customer the bag with his purchase, nodding, and the guy couldn’t leave the store quick enough, sensing the tension among the two men.
Tom barely waited until the guy was out the door before he started in on Calum again. “You work for me, kid, remember? All I have to do is say the word and you’re out on your ass,” he spat.
Something in Calum’s brain snapped and he felt the words tumbling out of his mouth before he could stop them. He’d had enough of Tom treating him like shit when he was the only reliable employee Tom had.
“If you would get off your ass and give me a hand instead of leaving me out here to do everything myself, maybe I’d have time to put your fucking order away,” he replied sharply. He should have regretted what he said, because he knew there’d be hell to pay for talking back to his boss like that, but Calum couldn’t bring himself to care. Tom was a piece of shit and Calum was fed up with it.
Tom’s face turned beet red, his brows furrowing into an angry glare. “Didn’t your mother ever teach you to respect your elders?”
Calum whipped around and without missing a beat, landed a fierce right hook to his boss’s jaw. He fell back into the wall, steadying himself on the doorjamb. He looked utterly shocked.
“Fuck you,” Calum seethed, spitting at Tom’s feet.
Tom straightened, adjusting his tie and adopting a suddenly calm demeanor. “That’s it, Hood. You’re done. Get out of my store.”
“Gladly,” Calum replied smoothly. “Let’s see how long you stay in business with no one but your lazy ass to run this place,” he shot back, fishing his key out of his pocket and slamming it on the counter in front of the man. He stormed into the back, yanking his leather jacket off its hook and lighting a cigarette before he was even out the door.
Calum drove around aimlessly for the better part of an hour with no destination in mind, listening to Coldplay and lighting one cigarette after another in an attempt to clear his head and calm him down. Once he realized it wasn’t helping, he decided the only thing that would make him feel better was going to see Gram. He didn’t want to stress Parker out with his problems until after he’d talked it out with Gram.
He let himself in the house, the smell of banana bread filling his nose. Calum entered the kitchen where Gram was doing dishes, spotting the fresh-baked loaf cooling on the stove.
He sighed heavily as soon as she came into his view, feeling most of his anger melt away almost instantly. “Hey, Gram,” he greeted, kissing her on the cheek and taking a seat at the kitchen table.
“Hi dear,” she replied, smiling. “I woke up this morning and I just had a feeling you’d be coming to see me today.” She dried her hands on a dishtowel and cut two slices of bread, setting them on a plate and joining Calum at the table. “You look down, baby. What’s wrong?”
Calum sighed. “I got fired.”
“Oh, honey,” Gram said sympathetically. “What happened?”
“I let Tom have it,” he said, reaching for a slice of banana bread and taking a bite. “He pissed me off and I tried to stay calm, but then he started talking shit about mum and I just lost it,” Calum shook his head. “I hit him,” he said guiltily, dropping his head.
“Listen to me, Calum,” Gram said, lifting his chin to look at her. “This is for the best. That rat of a man has been nothing but horrible to you since he took over the store, and he doesn’t deserve you. And he definitely deserved that punch,” she added with a wink, earning a small smile from Calum. She placed her hand on top of his, squeezing it. “You’ll find something better. And who knows,” she added, “maybe this an opportunity to work on your music.”
Calum smiled. He knew he could always count on Gram to lift his spirits, even when he was having the worst day. She packed up the rest of the banana bread in a Tupperware container, saving two slices for herself, and sent Calum home.
When he got back to his apartment, he had completely forgotten about dinner with Parker’s parents that night until his phone went off with a reminder. He groaned. Being social and making a good impression was the last thing he wanted to do tonight, and despite Gram’s effort to cheer him up, he felt anger bubble up inside him at the whole situation. How was he supposed to impress Parker’s parents when he didn’t even have a job? He was already stressed enough about meeting them, and he wondered how this day could possibly get worse.
Parker spent Saturday morning cleaning her apartment and catching up on some reading while Calum was at work, killing time until the dinner with her parents. She hadn’t heard from Calum since early that morning when he had sent her a good morning text, but he was at work until four so she wasn’t expecting to hear from him until lunchtime. She decided she would bring him a coffee, being that it was nearing his break.
She stopped in at Enzo’s, ordered his coffee, and crossed the street, the door chiming when she entered Rudy’s.
No one was out front when she came in which struck her as odd. Calum was almost always either standing at the register and sorting through albums on the counter or in among the aisles putting things away and organizing.
“Cal?” she called out, wondering if maybe he was in the back.
A few moments later, Tom emerged. He wore a blank expression, not offering a smile or any kind of greeting to Parker. He was holding an ice pack to his jaw, and Parker noticed a large red mark under the pack.
“Uh, hi,” Parker said awkwardly. “Is Calum here?”
Tom scoffed, a sneer curling his lips. “Calum doesn’t work here anymore,” he said flatly.
“Oh,” Parker frowned, confused. “Okay, thanks,” she said, turning on her heel to leave.
Fifteen minutes later she arrived at Calum’s apartment, knocking on the door gently before opening it and stepping inside. Duke was at the door, wagging his tail and running circles around her feet until she bent down to pet him. She rubbed the little dog’s head, setting the coffee, now getting cold, on the kitchen counter. Parker looked up to find Calum laying on the couch, a beer in his hand.
“Hey,” she said softly, noting immediately that he wasn’t in a good mood. “I stopped by Rudy’s to bring you a coffee for your break, but Tom—he said you didn’t work there anymore,” she explained, brows furrowed in confusion as she made her way over to the couch, sitting cross-legged at the other end and facing him.
“Yeah,” he scoffed, lifting the beer to his lips and taking a long drink. “I don’t,” he stated bluntly.
“What do you mean?”
“I got fired,” he shrugged.
Parker’s shoulders sagged, brows knitting together in concern. “Are—are you okay?”
Calum laughed dryly, his dark eyes meeting hers for the first time since she entered his apartment. They held no warmth—it reminded Parker of the way he looked at her when they first met, and it felt wrong. “I’m unemployed with no education except a high school diploma. I’m fucking fantastic.”
Parker flinched at his words. She hadn’t seen this side of him since before they started dating, and she had forgotten how harsh he could be when he was angry. Parker didn’t like it.
“What can I do?” she asked quietly.
Calum looked away. “Nothing, Parker. There’s nothing you can do.” He stood, finishing his beer and walking to the fridge to get another one.
She stood up and followed him, afraid to ask him any more questions, but she had to know. “Should I cancel tonight? With my parents?”
Calum leaned back against the kitchen counter, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. “I don’t fancy meeting your parents for the first time and getting to tell them I got fired today,” he responded. “I’ve had a shit day and I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
Parker hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided that if she couldn’t love Calum through his bad days, she didn’t deserve him at all. She couldn’t be afraid of him when he got like this. So she moved to stand in front of him, taking his beer and setting it down beside him on the counter. He watched her intently, unmoving, while she wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. “It’s gonna be okay,” she murmured. “You hated that job anyway. We’ll figure this out, I promise.”
Calum sighed deeply, finally wrapping his arms around her and holding her tight, resting his chin on top of her head. He felt his anger dissolve a little more when he held her. God, he loved her.
After a few moments of silence, Calum spoke. “I’m sorry, love. I didn’t mean to snap at you.”
Parker pulled away to meet his eyes. “I know,” she assured him, pressing a kiss to his lips. “It’s okay.”
“We’ll still go tonight. I don’t want you to have to cancel.”
“Are you sure?” Parker questioned.
Calum nodded. “I’ll be fine.”
At 6:40, Calum parked the Charger in front of Parker’s apartment, pocketing his keys as he walked up the steps. After suggesting a quick tumble to help Calum de-stress a little, Parker had gone home to shower and get ready for their dinner. She opened the door, and Calum smiled. She was in a short, forest-green cocktail dress with minimal makeup and a wool coat to cover at least part of her bare legs.
“You look beautiful.”
“So do you,” she teased, kissing him on the cheek. He had worn a simple black button-up and black trousers, trading his signature leather jacket for a long, dark grey trench coat. “You ready to go?” she asked.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” he shrugged. The drive to the restaurant was relatively quiet, the low hum from Calum’s stereo playing throughout the car to break the silence. Calum’s mind was still reeling over this morning’s events, and he was nervous for tonight. Parker didn’t talk about her parents a lot, and while they got along, he got the vibe that they didn’t always see eye-to-eye. Not that he gave a shit what anyone thought of him, but Calum wanted them to like him, for Parker’s sake. He had an uneasy feeling. He hoped it was just nerves, but deep in his chest, he knew better.
Parker seemed to notice the uncomfortable expression on Calum’s face when they pulled into the parking lot.
“Hey,” she turned to him, cupping his cheeks in her hands and turning him to face her. “Relax. They’re going to love you. And even if they don’t, I don’t care. I love you. That’s the only important thing.” She pressed her lips to his softly before getting out of the car. He knew her heart was in the right place, but her words didn’t make him feel any better. The last thing he wanted was to be the thing to come between Parker and her parents.
She grasped his hand, lacing her fingers with his as they entered the restaurant. Parker spotted her parents at a booth against the far wall. She told the hostess that their company was already seated, and Calum followed behind her as she weaved through the restaurant. When they approached the table, Calum let go of Parker’s hand as her father stood to his feet.
“Richard,” he stated, extending his hand.
Calum swallowed. “Nice to meet you, sir, I’m Calum,” he replied, firmly shaking his hand. He leaned to his left, making eye contact with Parker’s mother, still sitting in the booth. “Nice to meet you, too, Mrs. Daniels,” he said politely, flashing her a smile.
She waved her hands in protest. “Please, just Shari,” she laughed lightly.
Calum let Parker into the booth, sliding in after her. He felt her hand rest on his thigh, giving it a reassuring squeeze. He placed his hand on top of hers, squeezing it back.
To Calum’s pleasant surprise, dinner started off well. Calum put his most charming face on for Shari, and apparently even women in their mid-fifties couldn’t resist his smile.
“Parker hasn’t told us much about you, Calum—she wanted to give us lots to talk about, I think,” she laughed. “Do you have family here in town?”
Calum’s face fell. He hated this question. Parker could feel him tense up, clearly not wanting to get into the topic of his own parents. Parker cut him off, and he sent her a grateful smile.
“That’s how we met, actually,” she started. “Calum’s grandmother is one of my patients.”
Calum was thankful to Parker for taking over this topic of conversation, and he was happy to let her talk.
He knew the next question was coming, and it was one he was dreading to answer.
“What do you do, Calum?” Richard asked him, taking a sip from his beer glass.
“I, uh—” Calum paused, unsure if he should lie about being fired or make something up and deal with the consequences later. He chose the former, hoping that they didn’t visit the store by some chance and find out he was lying. “I work at Rudy’s,” he answered, as confidently as he could manage. “It’s an old music store downtown. Been there since I was in high school.”
“Oh, a musician?” Shari raised her eyebrows.
Calum chuckled nervously. “No, not quite,” he corrected.
“You must be a manager then, if you’ve been there that long?” Richard questioned, his blue eyes boring into Calum’s. This was exactly what Calum was afraid of. “Uh, no, not a manager,” he answered awkwardly.
“So you’re working there while you’re in college?” he asked, brows furrowing in mild confusion.
“Dad,” Parker warned.
“No, I never went to college,” Calum answered honestly. “School has never been my thing.”
Richard bristled. “Well, you can’t expect to—”
“Okay, moving on,” Parker said loudly, interrupting her dad and attempting to change the subject. The subject of conversation for the rest of dinner was decided by Parker, and she kept her father’s pressing questions at bay by talking far too much, which Calum appreciated. There were no other outbursts, but the rest of the dinner was undoubtedly tense. It was obvious that while Shari didn’t seem to feel as strongly as her husband, Richard did not approve of Calum’s choice of career.
It was true, school was never Calum’s strong suit. Even if he had decided to go to college, the only thing he ever had any interest in was music. Unfortunately, the closest school with a decent music program was hours away and he could never leave Gram, so the only thing that made sense to him was just not going. Gram fought him on it, but he was as stubborn as she was, and in the end he had stayed.
But Richard had a point. How could he expect to support himself and a family if he ever had one on a couple bucks over minimum wage? Sure, he had inherited a good chunk of money from his grandfather, but he couldn’t rely on that forever. Parker had her life together. She was smart and successful and she supported herself. Calum had had the same job since he was fourteen years old, and now he didn’t have one at all.
The conversation they had at dinner ran through his mind over and over, and it affected him far more than he wanted it to. Calum was conflicted—before today, he had convinced himself that he didn’t care what anyone but Parker thought of him, but the more he thought about his life, his future, his goals—he realized he didn’t really have any. He loved Parker, and she loved him, but Calum suddenly wasn’t sure that love was enough. He had nothing else to offer her. He was quiet the entire drive home back to Parker’s place, his thoughts running a mile a minute. He wasn’t even aware of his feet moving as he followed Parker up the stairs to her front door.
“Cal?” Parker had been trying to get his attention as he stared blankly ahead. His eyes snapped into focus and he turned to look at her.
“Sorry,” he shook his head, dazed. “What?”
“I said, are you coming inside?” she repeated. Her brows furrowed at the pained expression on his face. “Are you okay?”
“I—no, I’m not,” he admitted, dropping his gaze to the ground.
Parker looked confused. “No, you’re not coming in, or no, you’re not okay?”
He lifted his eyes to look at her again. “No, I’m not coming in.” Calum ignored her frown, and he ignored the tightness in his chest and the pain stinging the backs of his eyes, and he ignored every fiber in his body screaming at him not to say what he was about to say.
Calum had finally let someone in, let himself feel, let himself love. His heart felt whole with Parker, and he knew that what he was about to do would shatter it, probably for good this time. But regardless of how he felt in his heart, his head was telling him he needed to do this, for her. She was worth more than what he could give her. “I can’t do this,” he said, his eyes pleading with her to understand. “We—we can’t do this anymore.”
Parker’s face fell as she tilted her head to the side and took a step back. “What do you mean?”
He gave her a pleading look. “You know what I mean, love. Don’t make this harder than it already is.”
Parker’s eyes turned glassy, fighting back tears that had formed almost instantly at his words. “Why?” she demanded. “Because of my dad? I told you before, I don’t care what they think—”
“I do!” he cut her off, shouting angrily. His dark eyes bore into her steel grey ones. “He was right. I have nothing to offer you. I don’t even have my own life together, I’m not going to ruin yours.”
“You’re not ruining anything!” she yelled back, furious at him for giving up on them so easily. “You got fired, so what? We can figure this out together, I’ll help you,” she pleaded.
Calum shook his head. “No, Parker. I can’t ask you to give up your life while I search for mine. This is my mess. You deserve someone who can provide for you, and that’s not me.”
“So that’s it? You’re just gonna quit?” she asked, the tears she had been holding back rolling down her cheeks. “Please don’t do this,” she begged.
“I can’t, Parker,” he shook his head. “I’m no good for you. I’m not going to drag you down with me.” Calum took a step towards her and raised his hand, wanting nothing more than to brush the tears from under her eyes, but he thought better of it, lowering his hand back down to his side. If he let himself get close to her, he might change his mind, and he couldn’t do that. He was doing this for her. Even though it killed him to lose her, he was trying desperately not to be selfish.
He turned and descended the few steps of her front porch. He stopped at the driver’s door, looking one last time at the tear-soaked face of the girl he loved. “I’m sorry, baby,” he whispered. When she closed her eyes, lip trembling and body shaking, he got in his car and drove away before he changed his mind. I’m doing this for her, he kept repeating to himself, over and over. He had to convince himself that this was what was best for her.
If you’ve got an incredible fic that you are super proud of or if you think that I should read something you’ve read, PLEASE SEND IT TO ME! I’m really big on StevexFem!Reader, BuckyxFem!Reader, WandaxFem!Reader, CarolxFem!Reader, and Stucky fics!!!
If you do end up reading these fics, please tag me if you reblog them or comment on them!! I’d love to see your guys’ reactions :)
ANYWAYS THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE HAVE CRUSHED MY HEART WITH AMAZING FICS, RUINED MY IDEALS OF WHAT LOVE IS, AND/OR BROKEN MY HEART WITH ANGST ONLY TO REVIVE IT WITH SOME FLUFF. I love you all so very much.
PS. if these links dont work for some reason, please let me know so I can update this list because I was very distracted halfway through making this so it might not be perfect!
Tumblr media
1.Walpurgis Night by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “In which Steven volunteers to find a long-lost princess of Starkerbürg. (Fairy Tale AU)” I have no clue why this fic is not given more goddamn attention because holy shit yall, I have never been so grasped by a fic before. If you love medieval/fairy tale type things, you will love this fic. And if you don’t, you’re gonna love it anyways because @anika-ann writes SO. FUCKING. WELL. 100% fluff and love.
2. Abs Aren’t Always the Answer by @its-not-captain-america | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “Steve asks Y/N what girls are interested in, trying to impress her. Several shirtless pics later it’s not working.” Y’all want hilarious shit??? What about Steve Rogers always trying to take his fucking shirt off because he has the DNA (and the body) of a stripper? JK that’s not the actual reason but this fic is so funny, I died reading the first 700 times (and the 701st time too... and every time after that). 100% hilarious.
3. Challenge Accepted...? by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader ”Steve’s never been good at quick decision-making when it came to his own safety. After one particularly horrible experience, you find a way to remind him every day to think twice the next time he’s faced with a tough choice. He is not amused.” Steven Grant Rogers you stupid dumb hoe lol. That’s all I’mma say about this fic because it speaks for itself when you read it haha. Banter is iconic in this fic. 100% hilarious.
4. A Matter of Trust by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “You and Steve get to go to a mission together after a while; free drinks, partying, dressing-up nicely, stealing blueprints, the usual. You might even enjoy this as a couple.“ This time it’s Y/N that’s kindof a stupid dumb hoe but like that’s okay because when Y/N is a stupid dumb hoe, it’s not as stupid or dumb as when Steve does it. There’s a bit of a carry on between Challenge Accepted...? and this fic! So I would suggest reading that one first and then this :) 100% hilarious.
5. For a Smile by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “You see him run past every morning. So you smile, because he looks like a nice person. How could he not be when he smiles back and the world stops for a while to pay respect to such beauty?” So you know how Disney movies totally screwed over some of our perspectives of how guys were gonna come and sweep us off our feet? Yeah. This fic did it too. I’m still waiting for my fairytale fucking moment like this fic but if it never happens, I’ll settle for just reading this over and over again LOL. 100% F L U F F and LOVE.
6. Grease and Pearls by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “All you know is uptown; fancy clothes, expensive cars, jewellery outshining one’s personality and exhausting dinners with family acquaintances and business partners. Your life is all planned out; one day, you’ll marry Howard Stark’s son and you’ll be the golden couple adored by press.” This 3-part series slayed me. Like honestly, I’ve never been so torn apart before. Y’all lucky that if you read it, you get to read all 3 parts right away whereas I had to sit and wait for my heart to be torn apart and then stomped on. (Jk anika i love you you know that). Super amazing thing I love about this fic: it’s got links to the dresses that Y/N wears (super cute btw) AND it’s got two different endings so you can decide!!! 100% ANGST and 100% FLUFF? At the same time??? Because of the two endings?!?!?!? NOTE: part 2 got some steamy smut in there so 18+ readers only. I had to take a cold shower after reading it like goddamn.
7. Be Alright by @kayteewritessteve | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “Steve goes through a bad breakup, but a sweet voice and a friendly smile helps him realize he can begin again, and that he definitely should.” God this fic. I can’t with this fic. It’s based on the Dean Lewis song Be Alright, which is already one of my favourites, but this fic, ugh, Kaytee knows how to hurt you that’s for sure. It’s so pure and so wonderful. 100% SAD but like it gets better promise.
8. Cold Feet by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader
“After two months of dating, you’ve come to a conclusion as exciting as well as a bit irritating: Steve Rogers is a perfect man. He simply has no flaw.Or does he?” Mother. Fucking. Adorable. I dunno if there’s anything else to say except that anika really knows how to make me wish I was Y/N adsoifhosd. 100% F L U F F
9. Hot Chocolate by @vodkaxtonic | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “Steve gets sick and Y/N takes care of him, which involves a lot of Steve’s whining, hot chocolate and cuddles.“ Steve Rogers is a little shit who won’t just accept that he’s sick and needs to be taken care of BUT IT’S SO CUTE AND THIS FIC IS THE BEST!!!! 100% FLUFF!!
10. Home by @evanstush | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “It’s been 2 years since the last battle and it’s now Morgan’s 7th birthday, and well, Tony being Tony, he prepared a small party for her little girl, inviting everyone from the team, including you.” Hnnnggg this fic. Okay so. I love @evanstush with all my fucking heart because she’s always been so supportive of me and my fics. That being said I WAS NOT EXPECTING HER KIND ASS TO HURT MY HEART LIKE THIS. But again, it’s okay because it’s got fluff guys. 50% ANGST and 50% FLUFF. Well like it’s 100% both but like I have to split it haha.
11. Cocktails by @writeyourmindaway | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “ ~i really don’t know what to write i’m sorry~ DRINKS!” That’s okay, darling, I’ll write the summary you. HILARITY. WONDERFULNESS. THE WORD BLOWJOB WRITTEN SO MANY TIMES AND IT’S FUCKING GOLD. This is so funny i love it haha. This fic killed me. I should’ve seen it coming (hehe) but i didn’t lol. 100% HILARIOUS.
12. Unadulterated by @writeyourmindaway | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader No summary for this one but again, I shall do the honours haha. It’s part 2 of ‘Cocktails’ and this one is just as adorable and hilarious as the first part! Steve is a cheeky little soft boi and the flirting just makes me feel all sorts of ways <3 100% ADORABLE.
13. Water Wars by @writeyourmindaway | Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader “The team finds a new way to unwind” I love fics where you just see the team get to be normal people!!! Plus haven’t we all thought about how the Avengers would are in a water fight? Is that just me? Don’t have to fantasize about it now because @writeyourmindaway wrote it for you :D 100% FLUFF.
14. Slow Like Honey by @heli0s-writes | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “The gossip that buzzes around in the teacher’s lounge is that sweet, sensitive, divorcé Steve Rogers is hot-for-teacher. His daughter’s first-grade teacher, to be exact.” I binged this whole fucking series. 8 parts of PURE. EVERYTHING. I have never so badly wanted a happy ending in my fucking life. This is an amazing series with so much love put into it, you can tell. I really can’t explain this fic because you really need to just go read it to know how amazing it is. NOTE: Part 4, 5, and 8 have some serious love smut in there so 18+ readers only please. UGH. I love this fic so much. I will continue to keep daydreaming about it and thinking about it all the time. God I love me some Dad!Steve. 50% FLUFF and 50% ANGST (which seriously tore my heart out like I cried).
15. You Make My World Spin by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “After the Battle of New York and all the mess Tony gets involved in later, Pepper believes he is in a need of an assistant slash tech genius. Enter you. While Tony is not amused by Pepper’s idea at first… he soon warms up to you.” So many insanely wonderful references in this fic, it’s hilarious. Also, Tony being a little shit LOL. Such a hilarious fic!!!! 100% AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS.
16. If You Stumble... by @anika-ann | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “If you stumble…make it part of the dance. In which you ask Steve what your date would look like if you lived the forties. He decides to show you instead. There are few flaws, holes to see through to glimpse beyond that illusion. But what life would be besides boring if everything was perfect? Perfect dress. Perfect date. Perfect gentleman…?” So my dumbass was so excited to read something that anika put out that I didn’t realize this was part 2 of a 3 part series lol I’m dumb yes I know. Anyways, this is part 1 so please don’t be like me and read the first part LOL. ANYWAYS, this was so fucking wholesome. This is definitely one that I need to read again and fully read in order (she’s got part 3 on her AO3, I believe) but ugh. I love the idea of Steve dating in this century, comparing things to how things were done in the old days ufglasodfhsd. I love it. Amazing. 100% FLUFF (I think because well my dumbass hasn’t finished but this part was fluffy :3)
17. @wxstedhexrt‘s poems | Read Them Here! | Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes I don’t think Destiny ever gave me a summary of these but (and Destiny, please correct me if I’m wrong in how you want these to be portrayed!) I believe they’re poems written throughout the whole Steve and Bucky timeline. She’s used the Winter Soldier’s words and turned them into a gorgeous set of poems. 100% My favourite thing in the whole fucking world.
18. The Lonely Tree by @sarahwroteathing | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “You have a favorite tree which you make sure to pass every day on your way to class, but one day you find you’ll have to get used to sharing it with a friendly art student.” Holy shit guys this 15 part series was so amazing. It’s 100% PURE FLUFF and PINING and gorgeous. Holy shit. Like I screamed reading the whole goddamn thing. Amazing writing by an amazing human being with some awesome humour haha.
19. @sinner-as-saint responding to an anon request? Amazing. | Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader Request: May I just spice up your day with the thought of best friend/roommate bucky being jealous when you bring someone home HOT. AS. FUCK. Holy shit. It’s such a short little list of things that Bucky would do but ugh. I was dying reading it. I love me some jealous Bucky smut. 100% angsty fluff? With smuttiness ;) 18+ readers please!!
20. @alloftheimaginesblog prompted fic | Steve Rogers x Reader (I could be wrong here but I believe the gender of the reader is never specified? But the ring is a woman’s ring so?? @alloftheimaginesblog pls correct me if you want!) Prompt: Finding an engagement ring in one of their drawers. So fucking fluffy I needed a cavity filled after ugh. I loved it so much it was just a gorgeous piece of writing. Steve is a little piece of poop for not hiding that ring better I mean come on, you’re telling me you couldn’t have punched a hole, put the ring there, and then cover it up with like a cabinet or something??? jk i still love you steeb. 100% fluff!
21. Laser Tag by @stargazingfangirl18 | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “You play laser tag with your boyfriend Steve and his best friend Bucky. Since you’re just a plain ole civilian, you gotta use what non-Avenger skills you have to avoid losing. Hint: those skills involve Steve and kissing.” Iconic. Everything. Wonderful. There is nothing I love more than Steve Rogers being a little sucker for making out with his girlfriend even when there’s a competition. 100% fluff!!!!
22. Under the Rainbow, Draga mea by @binkysteebnpewter | Wanda Maximoff x Fem!Reader I don’t think there’s an official summary ( @binkysteebnpewter pls correct me if I’m wrong) but my summary is this: GAYNESS <3 I love me some wlw content so when I saw this pop up on my dash, I couldn’t NOT read. It’s soooo good. This is a Social Media AU and the amount of meme usage in there I- it’s fucking wonderful. It’s still in progress though so you guys will have to pine after this relationship with me. I FUCKING LOVE IT. 100% GAY LOVE <3
23. A Fic in which Peggy Carter plays wingwoman because these two idiots are in love with each other but they can’t see it so our Queen needs to throw it at them by @1she1hulk1 (please note I made this title by myself because I don’t think there was a title LOL @1she1hulk1 lmk if you want me to change this xD) | Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader “the plot is bacially you and Steve go to see Peggy and she tells Steve to finally make his move” Peggy Carter is a fucking Queen and she knows that Steve is falling for you, because he just won’t stop fucking talking about you LOL. Anyways, this is a super cute fic!!!! Please go give it some love because this human being who wrote it doesn’t think she’s a good writer?????? Crazy. 100% FLUFF!!!!
OTHER FICS THAT DESERVE MENTIONING!!!!
So because this is my first recommendation list on this site, I know I’m definitely missing some amazing fics that I’ve read but never saved (I’m a terrible person I know). So I’m just gonna add them in this list here because they deserve love and attention too!
@wxstedhexrt‘s poetry. Period. End of story lol. JK. So the ones that I’ve read that are on Destiny’s tumblr aren’t all fandom related (besides the one that I posted above) but they’re still really amazing. I’ve never felt so captured by poems before (mostly because i’m stupid and don’t understand a lot of poetry). Ugh anyways I love her poems so much so please go check them out! CLICK HERE FOR BEAUTY <3
Alright so I know a lot of you guys know @kayteewritessteve but if you don’t, she’s this super amazing writer with INCREDIBLE series. (CLICK HERE TO SEE HER FULL MASTERLIST). But one of my most favourite series by her, and one of my favourite series of all time, is: If Only You Knew “You arrive home one day to find a wedding invite for two of your best friends from high school. You knew this day was going to come eventually, but even with that said, you weren’t prepared to return home. At least not after 7 years of avoiding Buckhannon, West Virginia. Or rather, avoiding him; your ex-best friend and the secret love of your life. But maybe it was finally time to face your past, to face him and everything else that happened on that horrible night.”  This 18 (plus an Epilogue) part series will literally have you screaming at your screen being like WHY YALL CANT JUST TELL EACH OTHER HOW YALL FEEL?!?!?!?! 75% angst (because Kaytee likes to hurt us) and 25% fluff BUT the fluff is SOOOOO worth it so it’s like 100% angst and 200% fluff (i was never a mathlete). NOW since, we’re on the topic of Kaytee’s writing, I’d also like to mention: Love and War  “In a harsh medieval world, you set out on a perilous quest that will lead you onto a forbidden land. A land ruled and controlled by a ruthless Warlord King, one who does not look favourably upon trespassers of any kind, and punishes all with an iron fist. You may not know exactly where this quest will end, but what you do know is you will forever be altered by it. And that knowledge alone is what truly terrifies you the most.” so I read this while Kaytee was writing it about a year ago and holllyyyyyy shit. Okay. So. Listen. Fantasy? Check. Romance? Check. Amazing writing? Well it’s Kaytee so yea obviously check. I want to list more things but I don’t want to give it away! This is a 15 part series (plus an Epilogue and Outro) but it goes by so quickly once you’re stuck and waiting for more!!!!
Leaving Tumblr
Dear Tumblr,
The cliche goes 'this is a hard post to write.' Well, it's not. This is very easy to write. I'm leaving Tumblr, and you should too. Here's why.
I joined this social media site in 2012, as I was drawn to discussing films. Soon, I got into 'fandoms', mainly Buffy The Vampire Slayer and A Song Of Ice And Fire. For the first few years, there was no problem. Well, except one. Let's call her 'MN.' MN and I met on Yahoo Answers, and we shared private e-mails. I felt safe around her, and I confided in her some of my secrets. She helped me when a Tumblr user were sending sexually crass messages to me. During a time when my social life was falling apart, she helped me. Then one day, she stopped talking to me. She didn't block or unfollow me, but she pretended that I didn't exist. No replies to my friendly comments (she'd reply to everyone else).
 At the time, I thought I did something wrong. But now I realise she was a coward who didn't have the guts to tell me that she no longer wanted to be my friend. That's the thing about Tumblr. It's full of cowards, who lack the intellectual or moral ability to confront their 'friends.'  And when you mention that, they convince you that the problem lies with you.
So I moved away from the film fandom.
During the next few years, I get more involved in the ASOIAF fandom, particularly the Arya Stark section. And yeah, I was an SJW (vomit!). I would write posts about Arya, how sucky the Sansa fandom was. But overtime, I saw a shift. What started as simple, light-hearted bashing of Sansa fans turned sinister. They 'controlled' the fandom and the mods at ASOIAF university. Looking back it, I want to tell them that Arya and Sansa are both fictional characters. They aren't real. But the Sansa fans you were bashing and calling names, spreading lies about? They are. I often say that 'Tumblr treats real people like fictional characters, and fictional characters like real people.' It's true. All of these characters that you care about... they aren't real. And people don't have to treat them like they are.
So I 'defect' from the Arya fandom. And oh boy did they turn on me. Some are more slower than others, and they tell me that the reason why they didn't block me immediately was because 'they didn't want to hurt my feelings.' That's utter bullshit. They did it because they were scared of the fallout. They were cowards. But once they did block me, they'd post lies about me. That I was a stalker. That I was a bad person. I was open slather once they decided that I was no longer one of them. That's the thing about Tumblr: it's tribal. People think there actions are morally justified, if the person receiving them is 'bad.' Everything about me was insulted, even my gifsets.
A user who was particularly vicious was Marie. She and I were mutuals for well over 18 months. But she'd call me a bad person, a creep, mentally ill, an evil Reylo or whatever. Worse, was that these Arya stans were discussing me on Twitter. When I exposed them, I only had my closest mutuals at the time supporting me. (I had over 2,000 followers. Only 3 bothered to ask if I was okay). Users I never heard of suddenly had 'hot takes' about me.
Lies were spread about me, non stop. I realised that not only was this behaviour permitted on Tumblr, but it was actively rewarded.
And it was all over a FUCKING FICTIONAL CHARACTER.
This happened in 2016, which involved Brexit and the presidental election of Donald Trump. Look, I believe in free speech. I don't care if you are for or against them. Personally, I despise the European Union and if I were American, yeah, I could have voted Republican. But that's irrelevant. Tumblr users were so unhappy with those results, that anyone who did like Trump and Farage were labelled all the awful names in the book. Racist. Sexist. Nazi. Not only did this teach me that Tumblr users have no idea what those words mean, but that they are willing to use them liberally in order to gain power. Looking back at it, I'm glad Trump won. I'm glad Brexit happened. Not only because of politics, but it meant that you guys LOST. You better get used to that feeling, because if you continue to treat people the way you treated me, that feeling will soon be the only thing you know.
A common misconception in the media is that Tumblr users act like 'SJWs' because they are young and ignorant. I mean, sure. But Tumblr users act like SJWs because they are fundamentally, cultish in nature and adhere to a hideous morality. I study Modern History, and a big part of that is empathy. What motivates someone to join the SS? Or run a gulag? Or torture someone? I manage to answer those questions, with relative ease. But I still have no idea why Tumblr users are so nasty and stupid. Like, none of you know shit about anything.
The breaking point, when I realised 'we are all fucked' was when neo-Nazi Richard Spencer got punched. Look, I disagree with EVERYTHING Antifa and the Alt-right do. Celebrating any form of political violence leads to a nasty path. One day you are celebrating some one getting punched, and the next, you are cheering people getting slaughtered. People should never be CELEBRATED for violence. There is no moral justification for it. And you guys are too stupid to figure out that once all the 'Nazis' are gone, you are next to be sent to the gulag. You see yourself as distributing justice, but never receiving punishment. And oh, that is going to hurt you long term.
I would subtely mention why Spencer getting punched was wrong. But people on Tumblr were saying 'if anyone doesn't support Antifa, they should get punched too.' That's utter tyranny, and its something a Nazi would do. Since 2017, the countless violence by AntiFa is astounding. And Tumblr cheers it on like its a fucking joke. Like the real world is a theatre, and we are all patrons in the globe. Well, I've got news for you. The world doesn't exist for your pleasure. People don't have to act in certain ways to make you happy. The universe is not a 'safe space.' And you have the arrogant audacity to think you can bully it into changing.
Worse, was that I was fearful to speak out against it. That's utter evil. I understood the meaning of the term 'self-censorship' and since then, have become a free speech advocate.
Of course, no letter about leaving Tumblr would be complete without mentioning Lindsay. Oh Lindsay. We were friends for 2 years, and then I said a historical fact (that the Nazis persecuted people beyond Jewish people) and she flipped out. She blocked me, sent me anon hate, and told all the Reylos to block me. And you know what? Alot did. I was put on hit and block lists.
Now, anyone who has studied World War II history knows that I am right. But because Tumblr is contrived of people who can't put Austria on a map, I was attacked and slandered. Lindsay would try to bully my friends into blocking me. They obviously refused. But Lindsay probably does the same shit to other people. Good thing she's a boring basic bitch with no personality, who has the charisma of a rock, because people with her mindset can really hurt people. She'll probably call me a 'Holocaust revisionist' for making fun of her.
I honestly don't care what she thinks of me. I don't care what Marie thinks of me. They will probably interpret me leaving Tumblr as a victory of sorts. And yeah, I'm gone from Tumblr. But I'm not gone from this world. I will continue to live, to write, to create, to argue. I know I matter. I know I'm a good person capable of a positive impact. I am not what you think I am, and I never will be.
You will always have the knowledge that I am out there, being me, being different and weird, and changing the world. Whilst you, are stuck on a computer screen, bullying people who think differently than you.
That's a bloody victory for me, and a sore loss for you. Although I am leaving, I will not delete this blog. I want people to comb through it, and study it. And learn. See my flaws, and know that it possible to leave Tumblr, and still have a good fucking life.
Goodbye Tumblr. Madeleine.
PS: I will say that the Sansa fandom and (some) parts of the Reylo fandom has been kind to me. It's sad to leave, because I will miss them. If you are one of them and you'd like to maintain contact, send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll give you my Facebook, Twitter or personal e-mail.
Hello everyone and good morning! Wow, I am feeling the love in the inbox today. A sincere thank you to all of you for sharing your thoughts and support with me. I love you all and your messages never fail to make me smile 🥰
Also, Phoenix Epilogue should be out sometime soon. If you haven’t read that 4 part miniseries yet, I recommend getting a head start before my super fluffy 11k epilogue is dropped.
More details responses below 👇
1. This is a good question! So, I personally made a list of prompts that I was interested in writing, and asked people to tell me what they were interested in. Pretty quickly, I got about 3 requests back to back, followed by 2 unique ones. This was before I’d ever posted any writing, so they had no reason to know what I would produce, lol.
I find offering some ideas first gives people an idea what you are willing to write and does some of the work for them. But you can also just make a general post saying “Send me requests for ____!” and it should do it, too. The key is making sure you use the appropriate tags in the post so people actually see it. I hope this helps! If you really need a request, feel free to DM me and I’ll give you one of my original prompts that I’ll probably never be able to write 😊
2. Correct.
3. Awwwwe this is the nicest thing you can tell an author. I appreciate you. It was so fun to write, although I forgot how hard it is to write soft sex (lmfao).
4. Aaaaa I was SO worried about his characterization, so I’m super relieved people felt like I got it right. I’ve actually only ever watched the whole movie once, so I felt really uneasy about it. But my inner himbo lover delivered, I guess.
5. Yes! It’s not explained well on my Masterlist, but I’ve actually crammed 4 requests into one story, which I feel will be executed very well. It’s called “It’s Too Cliche” and it follows this exact plot! (It also incorporated a request about that gold necklace, so... prepare yourselves)
I really think it’ll be a great story. I don’t say that often, but it’s based on something that happened to me that should be made into a romance movie so, hopefully I can show you all exactly what it felt like.
6. Stop, I’m going to cry 🥺 I’m a SUPER extrovert, so all of my best friends are super introverted, and many of them are shy. I appreciate you guys so much and I would hate to miss out on your thoughts/ideas/comments just because someone else thinks I write too slow, lol.
I love you and I hope you have an awesome day 💕
7. Hahah thank you! I do really try. I love writing, but the only reason I’m able to do this right now is because I’m doing Bar Exam prep, so that’s my only “job” at the moment. As the test gets closer, I’ll be able to do less.
8. Now you know how I feel about Chip Taylor 24/7 😭 I will probably still write at least one more Chip fic, and possibly a couple super short fluff pieces (him meeting your parents or going to Disney World with you and your kids for the first time are just... so fucking hilarious to me). It’s nice to hear that people are interested, since I knew that it would be one of the lower performing pieces 😂
9. Ramble at me forever, Anon 🥺 (seriously, we’re all here for Spencer Reid, what makes you think I don’t want you to ramble? 😉) I do have a ton of fluff fics in my upcoming. I usually get on a fluffy kick where I write like 5 at once lmfao. Right now, I am unfortunately in a smut mood 😂 It also doesn’t help that all my oldest chronological requests are smut (and EXTREMELY plot intensive), and I do try to follow that pattern whenever I can.
10. Y’all gotta stop giving me a swelled head 🥴 Thank you so much, honestly, for everything you said. Every comment about my characterizations seriously, legitimately makes me cry. Without interesting characters, I can’t imagine anyone ever wanting to read anything (although some more popular books seem to prove me wrong).
Also, I want you all to know that your interpretations of my characters and their motivations/personalities is EXTREMELY HELPFUL for me as an author. I like to hear as much about this as possible, because it helps me understand how my characters are interpreted.
PS I definitely laughed at the bloodhound comment as I wrote it. My beta also made a line note that said something similar to “Chip really learned that the hard way, huh?” lmfao.
Big thank you and I love you to everyone! Stay safe!
Witch Tips 20
Ohhhh my goodness this means we've reached 200 total tips. That is absolute insanity. I know I say this a lot, but I can't believe we've made it this far! Thank you all for your continued support in reading my work. It means a lot. Search #10tips on my blog for more!
1. Save bottle caps to use as tiny bowls for essential oils
I actually thought of this because a kind witch asked me for advice about not being able to use incense. I love when you guys ask me questions, I'm really excited about this tip that came from that. You can save the caps from water bottles, beer bottles, anything with a cap. Paint them corresponding colors or colors you like or just leave them as they are. Then, you can use them as a tiny dish for essential oils when performing spells and rituals. You may need to do this because you can't have incense or because you want to incorporate an oil that corresponds to the spell you're working on, or because you want to put it on your altar as an offering to your gods/goddesses.
2. Changing your complaints into affirmations is it's own kind of magick
Magick doesn't always come with ingredients and require a cauldron. Your words can be magick. Your intentions are the fuel to your power. I've started to implement this new things where, every time I complain about something to myself, I say 3 things I'm grateful for. For example, I was trying to pull a tote bag full of stuff out of the car earlier, and I accidentally toppled it, causing everything to spill out. My first thought, of course, was "I hate my fucking life" but then I took a deep breath and thought "Man, I'm so grateful that I have a bag to put all of these things in." And I decided to add 2 more positive thoughts to that, "I'm glad I'm able to have these things, too. And I'm really happy that they fell on the seat, rather than on the ground, I'm really lucky." Changing your perspective can nurture your mind.
3. Grow your own sage
I'm sure you've heard by now that white sage is endangered. Do your part to help it survive by growing your own. Not only is growing plants a staple part of green witchcraft, it can help any witch in their craft to nurture plants and encourage a lifeform to flourish. Give a plant what it needs and it'll return the favor.
4. Don't write the index in your grimoire all at once
I know you have all these plans and you want to write it all down in one go, but I suggest otherwise. You may find that something you expected to take a single page, actually takes up 2 or 3 when you're writing it down. Or you'll think you want to go straight from spells to potions, but then you later decided to add a whole section for bath spells between the two. So instead of writing it all out a once, try adding as you go and see how that works for you.
5. Learn the symbols
There are so many different symbols used in witchcraft and then there's even more sub-genre symbols for different areas of the craft. There's literally hundreds, so I don't expect you to learn them all at once. But it's important to at least learn the basics and the difference between them. For example, there is a difference between a pentacle and a pentagram and you've got to know it. Some other symbols to look into include the triple goddess, the crone, the elements, the sun and moon, etc. If you're into tarot, learn which symbols mean the same thing (for example, some decks have pentacle while others have coins)
6. Be careful with holding onto still waters
That sounds super philosophical but it's really meant to be literal. If you leave water just chillin in your room, it's very likely going to get gross. It'll evaporate, it'll calcite, or it'll cause mold. It's gross, be careful with it.
7. Match up your hair/skin care with the phases of the moon
This is a great way to add witchcraft into your normal daily routine. You can use this to help grow your hair, clear your skin, or just help the health of both. You may be asking, "how the hell can I even do this? What do you want from me? You're asking way too much." Well guess what? I've actually got a little cheaty-cheat website for you! Which brings us to....
8. Utilize this website
You can adjust it to your timezone and there are lots of things here that can help your witchy routine. This website tells you when the best time is to cut your hair, dye your hair, what kind of skin care is best for that specific lunar alignment, what moon phase it is, what zodiac sign the moon is under, etc. And if you click on a specific date, then it'll go even more into detail as far as how the alignment effects different parts of your body, your mood, your relationship. It even gives you nutrition tips to help your body do it's best that day. Sidenote: please take the advice this website gives with a grain of salt. This should not be used in place of an actual doctor's advice and you should also always listen to your own body and put your own dietary needs above all else. I care about you, treat yourself with respect.
9. Here are some tips for finding other witches in your community
Even a solitary witch can have some witch friends! Just because you prefer to practice alone doesn't mean you don't want to have friends in the craft. There any many off the wall ways to meet witches. I'll start with some of the easier ones, and as they get more complicated, I'll add in brief explanations (lmao as if I can ever be brief)
Talk to people who work at witch shops
And the customers too
Same with gem and mineral shops
Watch for people wearing witchy symbols or lots of crystals
Check out online forums
Frequent magickal spots in town (for example, I once found this beautiful cove in a town I was visiting. It was full of magical energy. While exploring, I found some witchy symbols carved into a piece of driftwood with a burned down incense stick poking out of it. I left them a note spelled out in rocks and left them a little gift. I never got to meet them, because I'm a traveler but I feel like I could have if I kept trying)
Watch out for signs of witches nearby (recently, I was at the park and saw some sigils and positive magickal affermations painted onto an old metal bridge. I need to find this witch)
10. Crystal beads are great for your DIYs
A lot of witch shops will sell tiny pieces of gems with holes through them as beads. You can use these little guys for more than just jewelry. Sew them into your clothes (make sure they're water safe so they don't get ruined in the washer) add them to wands, sew them into your curtains, your cloth napkins, your towels, any and all materials in your home. Feel free to add more uses in the comments!
Thanks so much for reading my latest #10tips! Don't forget, you can always send an ask my way if you need clarification on anything I wrote, if you have any other witchcraft related questions, or if you just want to tell me something neat.
And as always, have a magickal day.
Ps: if you like what I do here and wish to be a huge sweetie and support me, here's a little link to do so. Much love.
Opening day Q and A!
Tumblr media
Let’s go!
FYI Q AND A IS OPEN TIL KICKOFF!!!
First up is our resident graphic genius Gillis:
- will there be any drop off at GK? Like real tangible drop off and not broken-hearted Italian goggles drop off
NO. Maignan will play great all year. there will be a game or two where his mistakes will cost us, but that happens to the best of keepers. His quickness and skill in distribution will be a revelation.
- will the fullbacks combine for 10+ goals?
Easily. Theo gets at least 10, Calabria gets 5 and the supporting cast will grab a few more. 20 is even possible. That would have been UNTHINKABLE during the banter era.
- who gets the captain’s armband?
I guess today it’s Calabria. going forward it’s gotta be Kessie with I think Kjaer and Calabria as vice captains..
- Milan finished with 79pts last season. Are you taking the over the r under that number for this season?
Oh boy. Considering how galactically bad the bottom half of the table is this year I will go over. Gonna need 80+ to stay in the top 4.
Next up is Matt from Connecticut:
- Who is your ideal RW as that’s the biggest weakness in the XI
Saelemaekers! DUH! Seriously though I get it. It’s a sore spot in the lineup that needs addressed. Florenzi is a fun little band aid but nothing long term. I was really digging Shomorudov but now he’s at Roma. Can i have Chiesa? No? Ok. Within Serie A I’d talk to Samp while we are there about Damsgard. I know he’s a LW and AM but i would gladly take a guy like that, put him on the right and let him cook. He can bomb in inswinging crosses all day to Giroud/Ibra and he’s great on set pieces. Outside Serie A? The Bernardo silva runors are just that, but i’d love him. Completely insane idea that might start a rumor? Sane from Bayern. He has NOT been a great fit there and perhaps they could be talked into sending him on loan for a year?
Next up is my co-host TR:
- Is Cagliari getting relegated?
They barely survived last year with Diego Godin dragging them to safety.  Thing is there are 10 teams battling for the drop. I say they survive.
Next up is looooooong time reader Ralph:
- Will we finally break the #9 kit curse??
YES! Giroud puts in 20+ goals this year across all competitions. If old man Ibra can do what he did I think Giroud will do even better. Prepare to buy yourself a Giroud jersey by the end of the season.
Next up is our man from south of the equator, Frank!
- If we ended our mercato activities with the Pelegri, Florenzi and possible Baka signings, how does your season predictions change? You predicted Milan finishing in 3rd.
I’m still on board with that. Those three guys give us depth at the positions we have in need, especially the MF. I think Florenzi is a great spot player. Bold prediction? Saelemaekers pots 10 this year.
- Bernado Silva to Milan in a potential 53m deal... where does this rumour fall in your mercato possibilities index? 1 for extreme bullshit, 5 for meh and 10 for very possible.
Is 0 possible? that really ticks every box on the Transfer BS Detector. In fact it just caught on fire. dammit!
- Who are you getting as the starting TQ if you were the sporting director?
I think Diaz is the starter. If I’m Maldini I start calling about pushing for a loan for James Rodriguez on loan right now. I was really pining for Sabitzer but that isn’t happening.
- How do you like the 4-4-2 that Pioli's been flirting with? 2 strikers upfront tactical flexibility and its applicability in Serie A. Any chance we see Milan playing wingbacks this season?
I think that is a VERY viable plan B for us. It’s the best way to get 3 of our mids on the field at the same time and could be very dangerous. We have a lot of pieces that can play in multiple spots. 4231 relies on very defined roles. 442 is more flexible.
- On Milan's CL ambitions. Where are you on this in our 2021-22 campaign? Simply giving a good account of ourselves, or coming out of the group stages or just a strong 3rd placed finish that sends us to the Europa where we push hard for something?
Knockout stage is fine. Anything else is gravy. Of course it will hurt when we go out and folks will say we aren’t a big club anymore but we must have perspective.
- Milan's 3rd kit, what sayeth thou.. complete eye sore, wearable or just ok?
Yuck. I liked the blue last year. take a chance. have some fun. Nothing is forever.
- What do you think we'd need to win a scudetto in terms of improvements? A budget solution to make it interesting would be ok.
If Maldini can pull a second TQ out of the sky that is as good or better than Brahim I believe the sky is the limit. I truly believe we are good enough everywhere else to pull it of.
- When is Avia getting us a pre-season WAGS post? Asking for someone....
DUDE. That is the preseason preview we REALLY NEED. Avia?? Where are you????
Next up is nine:
How long is sleepy Rebic gonna take to get going this season
Christmas for sure.
Next up is loyal reader Alf3dwards:
What are the chances of a 20+ game win streak this season too? Or will we pick things up where we left off last season when the wheels were almost falling off?
Considering we are playing game 1 without Kessie or Bennacer i wouldn’t bet on a red hot start. Samp is no joke. We also get Lazio week 3 and Juve week 4. After that we have a nice stretch of winnable games. This season has a lot of landmines with CL and then AFCON as well.
Will Kessie ever sign his contract?
Yes. #IMIT
Was Noglu holding out on us?
No. Didn’t he have the game winner in the opener last year before vanishing for 2 months? F that guy.
See you all in a bit for the matchpost!
FORZA MILAN!
Lisi
hi i'm so glad you're back and feeling better!! 💗 can i request no. 98 & 100 for mr. "i love dark" changbin please :,)?
changbin + “you seemed sad, so i bought you flowers.” & “don’t make me say it.”word count: 1,651 words.
author’s note: thank you anon! i hope that you’re feeling well too. here’s your request, i had a lot of fun writing this even though i kept getting distracted adflaskd.ps: this is unedited because it’s 3am and i just wanted to be done with it after all my distractions so i’ll re-read this tomorrow and fix whatever needs to be fixed
it’s nine at night when she finally gives up on the idea of her blind date arriving. she nervously taps her nails against the third glass of water that she’s had refilled, and fiddles with her phone with her other hand.
she has two options now. on one hand, she could swallow her pride, book it out of the restaurant alone, grab a taxi, spend christmas eve alone, and pretend this never happened. on the other hand, she could call changbin and save her pride from the public but suffer changbin’s nagging. maybe he’d even spend christmas eve with her, even though she had ditched their month old plans for  it one week ago.
so maybe she did fuck up. or she definitely did. but to be fair, hyunjin, jisung, and felix were very persistent in regard to the blind date they had set her up on and changbin had even given her a (slightly passive-aggressive) approval on it, assuring her that he understood that the three boys were a pain in the ass when they wanted something.
yet here she was, being stood up on her christmas eve date and debating whether or not she should text her best friend rather than spending time with a cute boy. she does text him, in the end, in hopes that he hadn’t made new plans.
december 24, 9:14pmto: dark loverhey, so i might’ve been stood up on the boys’ set-up blind date and i need a ride if you’re free?
the ‘delivered’ sign appears immediately, and the ‘read 9:15″ sign appears shortly after. when he doesn’t immediately reply, she frowns. but then changbin replies with a familiar annoyed emoji, and she knows that he isn’t doing anything other than scrolling through his phone alone on christmas eve.
december 24, 9:15pmfrom: dark lover-________-from: dark loveri’ll be there in fifteen minutes, you idiot.
even despite the insult, she chuckles softly, finally able to relax just a little bit even despite the pitying stares from the couples and employees around her.
she’s about to stand up to meet changbin at the entrance when he arrives, but instead, he motions for her to sit down with one hand while hiding his other hand behind his back.
as he nears, she notices he’s dressed in a black button-down shirt and jeans, a contrast to his typical denim jacket or sweater, and his cheeks are tinted a slight pink. his expression, contrary to his usual overflowing confidence, looks almost bashful.
she’s about to comment on his current state when he shocks her even more by revealing a bouquet of yellow acacias and daffodils, with other flowers in the mix for decoration.
“you seemed sad, so i bought you flowers,” he says before continuing. “and what kind of best friend would i be if i let you spend your christmas eve alone after you get all dressed up for the occasion?” his bashful expression turns into one of teasing as he slides into the seat across from her.
she blinks, because she isn’t actually sad. more embarrassed about sitting in a restaurant alone for an hour, but now there’s a scarlet tinge on her cheeks as she accepts the flowers and stares at her best friend who looks effortlessly handsome today. he looks handsome everyday, to be completely honest, but today he’s in a button-up shirt and not a plain plaid shirt and that just gets to her.
right now, she’s having difficulty seeing him as just a best friend.
“so? order. it’s my treat,” changbin says as he grins, sliding her a menu before opening up his own menu. “or do i have to order for you, because you look like you just saw a ghost.”
changbin does end up ordering for her, because she’s too indecisive to pick just one between the carbonara, lasagna, and margherita pizza. changbin settles on choosing the margherita pizza for her, because pizza is always a win.
when the pizza arrives, she tries to use a fork and knife to cut it and eat it piece by piece like the people around her are doing, but after changbin arches an eyebrow at her uncharacteristic behavior, she laughs and puts her fork and knife down in favor of eating with her hands.
“so, what else is there to do on christmas eve for a date?” changbin asks as they walk down the streets of seoul. his choice of words doesn’t go unnoticed by her, and she nearly forgets to answer his question because of how her breath catches in her throat.
“we could join the party woojin’s having at his house,” she suggests, laughing when she sees the grimace on changbin’s face before he grumbles.
“this is a date, we aren’t going to spend it at woojin’s house.” her breath catches in her throat again and her heart threatens to beat out of her chest. “we can go to lotte world.”
her jaw drops. “changbin, that’s expensive and last minute.”
“i can spoil my best friend on christmas. consider it a christmas gift,” he shrugs.
“you already got me a christmas gift.”
“… consider this a second christmas gift.”
lotte world is littered with decorations of red, green, and gold. there isn’t any snow on this christmas day, but even then, she and changbin find themselves under a falling flurry of shaved ice dispensed through fake snow producers settled atop buildings and tall trees.
the weather is cold, and the fake snow makes it even colder, and changbin sees that as the perfect opportunity to affectionately wrap his coat around the both of them as they stand in line for ferris wheel. she’s huddled beside him within the comforts of his coat, wondering when the hell changbin became so affectionate while he wonders when the hell he became so confident when it came to her.
as in, sure, he’s always shown his love for her in the ways a best friend would and he really thought she would’ve notice by now, but to be so damn straightforward as to take her on an impromptu date on christmas eve and do this? changbin didn’t know what had gotten into him. but he guesses that when he planned a month ago to confess on christmas at midnight before the idiots had set her up on a blind date, he had been damn determined to really go through with it.
he sneaks a peek at his watch that tells him it’s 11:29 already, but he grimaces at the cliche idea of confessing on a ferris wheel. his solution is to duck into the fast lane when the workers aren’t looking, ignoring her protests of confusion. he’s laughing as they reach the front of the line behind only a few others in front of them, and she’s smacking him on the arm.
“what was that about?” she asks as she forces herself into his coat again.
“i have another place to take you to at midnight,” he replies.
he actually doesn’t know where he’s going to take her.
he just knows that he’s definitely not going to be the cliche guy who confesses on a ferris wheel. he has an image to uphold, even if it’s in front of the person in front of whom he’s already broken his image too many times to count.
“where are you taking me now, changbin?” she asks as she jogs behind him, his hand holding her wrist as he jogs around aimlessly to find the perfect place to confess to her. “the fireworks are starting soon,” she adds.
at 11:58, changbin finds them to be directly in front of the castle as an announcement blares through the loud speakers about the fireworks. he figures that this will have to work.
“are we going to be able to see the fireworks here?” she asks, her wrist still in his hand.
11.:59.
“you don’t need to,” changbin starts, beginning to laugh softly partly at her expression and partly out of nervousness. “i just–”
“you just?”
“oh god, don’t make me say it,” he starts as he slides his light grip from her wrist to her hand and grabs her other hand with his so that she faces him.
“changbin, you can’t just make me run all over lotte world, start to say something, and then ask me not to make you say it–”
12:00.
the first firework goes off.
“i like you,” changbin blurts out, “i mean i love you, but not in a best friend type of way. i mean that i’m in love with you. and fuck, this wasn’t how i was planning on confessing to you after you were just stood up by your blind date three hours ago”
fireworks begin to go off in her chest and nervous butterflies begin to flutter in his stomach as she looks up at him with glistening eyes in slight disbelief. he observes that her cheeks are pink, but he’s not sure if it’s because of the cold or because of his confession.
“answer me,” he huffs in annoyance to guise his anxious tone, fingers starting to drum on the back of her hand in nervousness.
“i realized tonight when you walked in with a dumb black button-up and flowers to cheer me up about a blind date i wasn’t even sad about in the first place instead of your usual plaid t-shirt that i’m in love with you too, and i think i’m pretty dumb to not have realized your feelings before your confession, nonetheless my own feelings.”
12:01. another firework goes off, but it’s nothing compared to the fireworks in their chests. he laughs, and so does she.
12:02. they are the only two people in a crowded theme park. their lips meet, and in that moment, all they care about is each other.
(felix, hyunjin, and jisung’s plan to get them together worked).
Need advice on qualifying for subsidized health insurance?
I'm an older full-time college student and my husband works full-time at Walmart. In the past three years, I've been through 4 cancer related surgeries, which were paid for by the breast/cervical cancer Medicaid program. Unfortunately, follow up care and monitoring aren't covered and I was dropped from Medicaid. I'm now on my husband's health insurance, which is basically worthless because our income is under $20,000/yr and the policy has a $4500 deductible plus 20% after. I haven't seen my oncologist for over a year because we can't afford the expensive scans, biopsies, and lab work associated with cancer follow-up with a deductible that high. I thought my situation would change in 2014 with Obamacare. I recently learned from the healthcare.gov website calculator that our income is low enough to qualify for expanded Medicaid (which our state decided not to expand), but I don't qualify for the health insurance subsidies I desperately need because the outrageous deductible health insurance from my husband's job covers spouses. How can a couple with an income so low they would qualify for expanded Medicaid be ineligible for subsidies? I am completely devastated over this and I don't know what to do. Not being able to afford cancer follow up care is putting my life in danger. Even if my husband's employer (Walmart) quit covering the spouses of full-time employees, I think that would only apply to new hires because of the grandfather clause. If getting subsidies was based on income alone the way it should be instead of access to employer provided coverage, I would qualify for a zero deductible policy and $3 co-pays with a monthly premium of around $60. I could then afford the expensive health care I need. We live in a college town so if my husband got a different job, he'd make even less than he does now and we would probably end up homeless. If my husband transfers and we move to a state that's expanding Medicaid, I'll have to quit school and get rid of my German Shepherd and Siberian Husky since it's almost impossible to find a landlord that allows them. We thought another option might be to get a divorce on paper and co-habitate until our situation changes (completing my degree and getting a good job so I can afford the deductible), then re-marry. When I asked about that, someone actually accused me of wanting to commit fraud! How can anyone think of something like fraud when a situation is endangering someone's life? I am desperate to somehow qualify for health insurance subsidies without lying, which could get us in trouble. Any ideas?""
What could happen if I lie on motorcycle insurance?
I want to buy a bike (motorcycle) but insurance is ridiculous. I'm 24 almost 25 in two weeks (which is why I have waited so long to get a bike thinking my insurance would drop like everyone says). I already have a license and took a safety motorcycle class. I have rode dirt bikes all my life and now want to get a sportbike. I have called almost every insurance company (major ones mostly and a few small local ones) all want me to pay $200. to $500 a month! That's almost $3000. to $5000. dollars a year! I could almost buy a new bike for that! My question is, after doing online quotes I found that if I lie (or bend the truth) and say I have rode for 3 or 5 years the insurance drops to about $100 dollars a month! Which is great. Now I haven't rode a bike on the road, a lot, or close to 3 years, but I do know how to drive, and I have no speeding tickets or accidents, so I'm safe. I just want to know, what's the harm in saying I have experience when I do, but not in the way they think. Are they really going to catch it or really care all that much? Is this a major deal, or do people do it all the time? I know people lie when they get insurance, like no one reports tickets or accidents, especially if they get them AFTER they get insurance. Let me know if there is ANY other ways to get insurance cheaper, I would love to have a bike and would appreciate any advice.""
I got a ticket which doesn't put points on my license. Could it affect my insurance rates?
I was a passenger in my friend's car when he was ticketed for having an open container of alcohol in the backseat. This occurred in Illinois, and the text of the relevant law is at the bottom. He was ticketed for violating section A; I was ticketed for section B. I confirmed with the very nice lady at the DMV that no points will be placed on my license since I was the passenger, but she was unsure as to what kind of report will be sent to the Secretary of State's office to be added to my driving record. So, here's my question: since I'm not getting any points for this, is it likely to affect my insurance rates? I can see both possibilities - on the non-affect side, it's a non-moving violation, but on the yes-affect side, it involves alcohol (albeit peripherally in my specific situation). If the consensus is that it will make my rates go up, I am going to try to get court supervision. If not, I'll try to save the extra money that would cost. Sec. 11-502. Transportation or possession of alcoholic liquor in a motor vehicle. (a) Except as provided in paragraph (c), no driver may transport, carry, possess or have any alcoholic liquor within the passenger area of any motor vehicle upon a highway in this State except in the original container and with the seal unbroken. (b) Except as provided in paragraph (c), no passenger may carry, possess or have any alcoholic liquor within any passenger area of any motor vehicle upon a highway in this State except in the original container and with the seal unbroken.""
Should I get full coverage on my cavalier (Car insurance)?
I have a 2005 Chevy Cavalier, I currently have liability insurance. I've already been in an accident, and fortunately it was minor enough for me to get parts at a junkyard. Should I upgrade to full coverage? United auto insurance, wants $186 down and $147 monthly for 6 months. My current company wants $262 down and $131 a month, for 9 months. Which company is the better deal? Should I even get full coverage""
Can you have two car insurance companies with out them finding out?
I need an SR22 but my parents insurance company (Allstate) is saying I must go somewhere else or my payments are going to sky rocket. I only need the SR22 for two months so I figured I'd just get a second policy for two months, stay on my parents' as well, then just cancel the second policy when I don't need the SR22 any more so I can avoid losing the great rates I have on my parents'. Would my current insurance company find out if I got a second policy and cause me to have to reevaluate our current policy (which is the main thing I'm trying to avoid). And lastly, if you can't have two policies on one car could I leave my name on both and just take the car off my parents without having to reevaluate our current Allstate policy?""
Motorcycle cost monthly?
Hey guys, I have some questions for you. I am 17 years old, and want to buy my first motorcycle (supermoto). I think I have a good idea on what it costs, but i'm just unsure. First off, i'll need to get my license. What'll that cost me? (California). I do have a car license, so getting the motorcycle license should be short and sweet, but i dont know. secondly, i'm going to get some motorcycle gear. I figure I'll be in 500$ with both license and gear (nice used leathers probably). Then i am going to get the bike which costs $4000. Being a supermoto, the insurance should be cheaper right? DRZ400sm if that helps. So between monthly payments and insurance, I should be in... 200$ a month? then gas, social life, blah blah. What do you think I need to be making monthly to make this happen. I bring in 500$ a month, and have 600$ in the bank as of now.""
How much would motorcycle insurance be for me?
I am 16 years old and have had my driver's license for only a month. I want to get my motorcycle license. I live in California, so I have to take that CHP motorcycle safety course. I was looking at getting a Triumph Bonneville. One that is less than 15 years old but not newer than 5 years. Maybe like a 2001 or something. On craigslist they are going for about 3-4k for what I'm looking for. What would my insurance be about? Just a broad idea is okay and just say a price, not to go on some website to get a quote cuz I don't want a quote yet.""
How soon do I need to insure a new car.?
We are going to purchase a car next Sunday from a private party. How soon do I need to get coverage on it? I already have coverage on my other cars. I'm just worried if it gets stolen/damaged before I can get it covered. We aren't 100% sure we want the vehicle so I don't want to cover something that's not in our name yet. Would it still be covered by the previous owner for awhile? Thanks in Advance!
Should I get Term Life Insurance at a young age?
I am currently 30 years old and in excellent health but since I am getting ready to start a family, I want to be prepared for the future of my loved ones. After reading about different life insurance options, I am deciding to go with Term Life Insurance for 20 years. Is it true that Term Life Insurance premiums don't change throughout the life of the term? If so, shouldn't I sign-up now while my annual payment will be low and locked in at this rate? My employer offers a very small life insurance benefit that I am already a part of but I want more just in case. While I am asking, are there any circumstances where a payout won't be made if I were to die under a term life insurance plan? Is it guaranteed? What if I (God forbid) get Cancer or have a heart attack? Thanks in advance!""
Will my motorcycle license show up on the car insurance?
So before you guys rule me out as being immature about getting a motorcycle without my parents knowledge let me tell you about my background. I am a college student studying at Northeastern in Boston. I have my own apartment in Boston and I share with 3 other people. I pay my own rent and food and I work 2 jobs. I work around 25-30 hours a week and I am a full time student on top of that. I have a car that is under my dad's insurance and I pay for the insurance and gas. Lately, the insurance and gas is really killing me financially. So, I'm planning to give my car back to my parents and I will just get a motorcycle for the city. Its cheaper gas and insurance wise and its easy to find parking for it the place I live in. I have taken place the winter seasons and I'm planning to put it in a storage for the winter seasons. My question is that my mother is thinks that a motorcycle is unsafe and that its dangerous. I believe its up to the driver to be safe or not, and also being aware of the surrounding. My mom take cares of the insurances and she just tells me how much I have to pay her for the car, and I was wondering if I get my motorcycle licenses in MA, does it show up on the car insurance? I'm planning to insure the motorcycle on my own with a different company and register it under my name. So basically I don't want my parents to find out about it. I don't want to cause them any trouble. Lets say that I take my name off of the car insurance, but down the line I want to put my name back on the car insurance does my motorcycle license show up during re apply for my name under the car insurance?""
How long does it take for a traffic ticket to show up on your driver's license and insurance?
So i got a ticket on july 17th (of this year) and the deadline to pay, contest, or do traffic school for it was september 17th, two days ago. i checked yesterday for the update because i thought i had a few more days and it said i can extend the ticket (to pay or to contest or to attend traffic school) to november 16th. i chose that and i will eventually go to traffic school but my question is, is point already on my record and will it affect my insurance rates? My friend was saying no because i extended the date and by doing so i havent plead guilty to the ticket (by paying it or attending traffic school for it) so right now because i have the date to fix the ticket extended by two months, it will not show up on my license or my insurance. What do you guys think? thanks a ton for any help :)""
What are my rights? re: car insurance?
I'm a bit short of money at the moment, so on the 31st January i phoned my car insurance company and asked them to suspend my insurance. They told me the direct debit request for February had been sent on the 29th January, which they couldn't stop, and would be taken from my bank account on the 1st February and i would later bee refunded that amount. Today i received a letter in the post telling me they would hold the payment and use it when i continue the policy or use it towards a cancellation fee if I don't unsuspend the policy. The policy ends in June! The reason i cancelled is because im on benefits and just don't have the money to afford this right now. Anything i can do?""
